A Child Travel Consent Letter in Singapore is a legal document that grants permission for a child to travel internationally without one or both parents or legal guardians present. It is a written authorization that ensures authorities and border officials in foreign countries are aware that the child has the consent of their parents or legal guardians to travel. This letter may be required by immigration officials or airlines when a child is traveling alone, with only one parent, with grandparents, or with a non-custodial parent.

ℹ️ The Child Travel Consent Letter helps facilitate smooth and hassle-free travel arrangements and provides peace of mind to both parents and authorities. It is an essential document for ensuring the child’s safety and compliance with international travel regulations.

A Child Travel Consent Letter is typically required for international travel when a child is:

It is essential to check the specific requirements of the destination country and the airlines involved in the travel to determine if a Child Travel Consent Letter is necessary. Having the appropriate consent letter can avoid delays and ensure a smooth travel experience for the child.

The Child Travel Consent Letter should be signed by the parent or legal guardian who is not accompanying the child on the trip. If both parents are present and giving consent for the child’s travel, both parents should sign the letter. The letter should include the full names and contact information of the parents or legal guardians, as well as the child’s details, including name, date of birth, and passport information.

If one parent has sole legal custody or the other parent’s rights have been terminated by a court order, a copy of the court order should be included with the consent letter to provide proof of legal authority.

A Child Travel Consent Letter can be used for multiple trips, as long as the information in the letter remains accurate and relevant for each trip. However, it is essential to check the specific requirements of the destination country and any airlines involved, as some may have their own policies regarding the validity of the consent letter.

If the information in the letter, such as the child’s details or travel dates, changes, it is advisable to update the letter accordingly to ensure its accuracy and validity for each trip.

If the child is traveling with a different accompanying adult for a subsequent trip, a new consent letter should be prepared and signed by the parent or legal guardian who is not accompanying the child on that specific trip.

There are specific requirements for a Child Travel Consent Letter to be considered valid for international travel. While the requirements may vary depending on the destination country and the airline, here are some common elements that should be included in the letter:

1. Full names and contact information of both parents or legal guardians giving consent.

2. Full name and date of birth of the child traveling.

3. Destination and duration of the trip.

4. Name and contact information of the person(s) accompanying the child during the trip.

5. A clear statement granting permission for the child to travel internationally with the accompanying person(s).

6. Date of the letter’s issuance and signature of the parent(s) or legal guardian(s) giving consent.

7. Notarization or authentication, if required by the destination country.

In some cases, grandparents or other relatives may sign the Child Travel Consent Letter if they have legal custody or guardianship of the child and are authorized to make decisions on the child’s behalf. However, it is essential to ensure that the person signing the letter has the legal authority to grant permission for the child to travel internationally.

The specific requirements for who can sign the Child Travel Consent Letter may vary depending on the destination country’s regulations and the airline’s policies. Some countries may require the consent letter to be signed by both parents or all legal guardians, while others may accept consent from one parent or a legal guardian with appropriate documentation. Seeking legal advice or consulting with relevant authorities can provide clarity on this matter.

To obtain a Child Travel Consent Letter in Singapore, follow these steps:

It’s essential to start the process of obtaining the Child Travel Consent Letter well in advance of the travel dates to ensure everything is in order and to avoid any last-minute complications. If you have specific questions or concerns about the process, it is advisable to seek legal advice or consult with the relevant authorities.

  • Stay-Home Notice (SHN) and on-arrival COVID-19 tests are not required for all fully vaccinated travellers, or children aged 12 and below.
  • There is no need to apply for entry approvals (including the Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP)) or take designated flights.
  • There is no need for travel insurance for fully-vaccinated short-term visitors.
  • Please note that foreign passport holders who require a visa for entry into Singapore would still need to apply for a visa. For visa requirements and visa application for entry into Singapore, please refer to ICA page here: https://www.ica.gov.sg/enter-depart/entry_requirements/visa_requirements

More details on the General Travel Category Requirements for Fully Vaccinated Travellers and Non Fully Vaccinated Children, including eligibility criteria and requirements, can be found on Safetravel’s website here: https://safetravel.ica.gov.sg/arriving/general-travel/fully-vaccinated

What documentation will I need to supply them with to confirm they have my permission to travel with her and so they don’t have any issues entering Singapore?

' class=

Though a notarised letter giving permission would be sensible to have.

travel authorization form singapore

Just give them your notary verified a letter of parental consent, where you can State your daughter's relation to the accompanying persons and their responsibility of her life, health and well being for the duration of this Travel. In some countries a parental consent must be signed by both parents.

Yes make sure the letter is not limited to permission to travel with her if you think it will help in the event of something going wrong before you can get involved...if you feel it appropriate for example include permission to consent to medical intervention is an important one to consider etc etc.

Entry requirements

This advice reflects the UK government’s understanding of current rules for people travelling on a full ‘British citizen’ passport from the UK, for the most common types of travel.

The authorities in Singapore set and enforce entry rules. If you’re not sure how these requirements apply to you, contact the Singapore High Commission in the UK .

COVID-19 rules

There are no COVID-19 testing or vaccination requirements for travellers entering Singapore.

Passport validity requirements

To enter Singapore, your passport must have an ‘expiry date’ 6 months after the date you arrive.

If you are a resident in Singapore there is no minimum passport validity required. Apply for a renewal before your passport expires.

Singapore does not recognise dual nationality beyond the age of 21. A citizen of Singapore is required by Singapore law to renounce any other nationalities they hold before the age of 22 in order to retain their Singaporean citizenship.

Check with your travel provider that your passport and other travel documents meet requirements. Renew your passport if you need to.

You will be denied entry if you do not have a valid travel document or try to use a passport that has been reported lost or stolen.

Checks at border control

All arrivals in Singapore must complete an electronic SG Arrival Card in the 3 days before they enter Singapore. This online form asks for travel details and a health declaration. It is illegal to submit a false declaration. Biometric information is also recorded and scanned when you enter and depart Singapore (iris, facial and fingerprints).

Screening for drugs

You can be screened for drugs in your system on arrival in Singapore, including if you’re travelling through. You can be charged with drug consumption even if the drugs were taken in another country, including countries where the use of that particular drug is legal.

You could be detained without trial and, if convicted, you could be imprisoned, caned or executed .

Ship’s crew

There are different entry requirements if you are crew working on ships, small vessels, or pleasure crafts arriving at one of Singapore’s ports or marinas.

Visa requirements

You do not need a visa to enter Singapore. The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority decides who can enter Singapore and how long they can stay.

Penalties for overstaying

Penalties for overstaying the time allowed include fines, imprisonment, caning and deportation depending on how long you have overstayed. When you leave Singapore, officials can take your fingerprints if they suspect you are involved in any crime.

Vaccination requirements

At least 8 weeks before your trip, check the vaccinations and certificates you need in TravelHealthPro’s Singapore guide .

If you are arriving from certain countries in Africa and Latin America,  you will need to show a yellow fever certificate to enter Singapore . Failure to do so may result in mandatory quarantine or being refused entry to Singapore.

Accommodation

There are strict laws preventing accommodation being let out for short term rental, such as for tourists.

Customs rules

There are strict rules about goods you can take into or out of Singapore. You must declare anything that may be prohibited or subject to tax or duty.

It’s illegal to import controlled drugs into Singapore. If convicted, you could be imprisoned, caned or executed .

The following items are also illegal to bring into Singapore:

  • vaporisers and e-cigarettes
  • tobacco products that are chewed or injected
  • chewing gum to sell
  • weapons and ammunition (including empty cartridge cases and air guns)
  • replica guns, including lighters shaped like a pistol or revolver
  • radio communications equipment

See the complete list of prohibited items on the Singapore Customs website.

30-Second Summary

US nationals traveling to Singapore enjoy visa-free travel.

They do not need to apply for a visa before entering the country. A Singapore visa for US citizens is not a requirement.

US citizens need to apply for an SG Arrival Card, which can be done online.

US green card holders might need a visa based on their nationality.

Important Information

— Visa type

— Singapore visa cost

— Singapore visa processing time

— Singapore visa validity

— Length of stay

Do US Citizens need a visa for Singapore

No, US citizens holding a regular passport are exempt from needing a visa for business and social visits to Singapore. US citizens enjoy the freedom of visa-free entry into the country.

US Citizens must, however, meet the entry requirements. All international visitors must comply with the entry requirements outlined by the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA). All visa-free nationalities traveling to Singapore for less than 90 days need an SG Arrival Card, which can be done online through the government website , and a valid passport for at least six months beyond the date of your intended stay.

US travelers planning to stay longer than 90 days in Singapore are required to apply for a valid visa.

Do US green card holders need a visa for Singapore

No. Having a Green Card does not automatically grant individuals visa-free entry into Singapore. Even though Green Card holders have permanent resident status in the United States, some nationalities must follow the standard visa application process to visit Singapore.

Singapore visa requirements for US Green Card holders

You must provide certain travel documents if you apply for your tourist visa at a Singapore embassy or consulate. These Singapore visa requirements include the following:

A valid passport: Your passport should have at least six months remaining validity from the intended departure date.

Passport-size photos: Submit recent passport-size photos with dimensions of 35mm (width) x 45mm (height).

A completed application form: The visa application form is form 14A. Ensure that all sections of the application form are properly filled out.

Completed letter of introduction: This is form V39A. The Letter of Introduction should be issued by a local contact in Singapore, specifically a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident at least 21 years old.

Travel itinerary: Submit a detailed document that outlines your planned activities during your visit to the destination country

Poof of stay: Provide evidence of your accommodation arrangements during your visit, such as hotel reservations or a letter of invitation if staying with a host.

Proof of flight reservations: Submit confirmed flight reservations that correspond with your intended travel dates.

Proof of sufficient funds: Statement from your bank of the last six months to prove you have enough finances to fund your visit.

Health/travel insurance: Obtain thorough health and travel insurance that covers your entire stay.

Singapore visa fees for US Green Card Holders

The Singapore visa costs are $22 per visa application. The Singapore visa fees are non-refundable regardless of the outcome of the application or if you withdraw the application after submission.

Take note all Singapore tourist visa fees are subject to change without notice. Double-check important information on the government website to ensure no updates have been made.

Singapore visa application process for US Green Card Holders

Certain nationalities, including Green Card holders, must apply for a visa to enter Singapore. While US citizens do not need to apply for a Singapore visa in advance, there are different options available if they choose to do so. Here is how to apply for a Singapore visa:

In-person: The first thing you need to do is make an appointment at your nearest Singapore Embassy. Then, you need to pay your Singapore tourist visa fees. Next, you need to make sure that you submit all the required travel documents. The Embassy can only process your tourist visa for Singapore application upon receipt of a hard copy of these documents. The Embassy will let you know via email if they approve your tourist visa. You need to pick up your passport and visa at the Embassy. Consular services are by appointment only.

Online: Travelers cannot independently apply for a Singapore visa online, as the process requires a SingPass. However, if the applicant has a local sponsor in Singapore, someone who is a citizen or permanent resident aged 21 or above and holds a SingPass account, they can assist with the Singapore visa application. The application can be submitted online via SAVE, but it must be done through a local contact possessing a SingPass account.

Strategic partners: These organizations or companies collaborate with the Singaporean government to facilitate the visa application. As partners, they may provide additional support and services to streamline the application process for applicants.

Tips to apply

Ensure all required documents are complete, accurate, and in line with the embassy's specifications.

Schedule your embassy appointment well in advance to accommodate any processing delays.

Be aware of the estimated processing times and submit your application accordingly.

Familiarise yourself with the application process and do additional research. Do not just jump in and get started.

Receive your approved Singapore visa

The embassy will notify you once your Singapore visa is approved. They will also provide the information you need to collect your passport with the visa stamp inside.

Ensure you have your valid Singapore visa when traveling, as it will be required to enter the country.

Singapore visa information

How to check the singapore visa status.

This depends on how and where you applied. However, when applying at the embassy, you will most probably need to contact them directly to get updates on the status of your Singapore visa application. Have your application number and passport number with you, as this will be required to check the Singapore visa status.

Singapore visa processing time

The Singapore visa processing time is 8 business days. Note some applications may take longer, which means that the visa processing time could take longer than expected. The processing time especially takes longer when your visa application faces delays.

Singapore visa validity & length of stay

US Citizens can visit Singapore for 90 days without needing a visa.

However, once you apply for a visa, you will need to take note of the specific validity period stated on the visa. Each visa application undergoes an individual approval process, including determining the approved visa duration. The validity of the visa is determined by the officials processing your application and will be specified on the approved visa document.

Please note that if you opt in for the Unaccompanied Minors Handling Service, it will be for the entire leg of a journey (for e.g., Melbourne to London via Singapore) and not a partial sector. Due to flight safety requirement, unaccompanied minors are not allowed to select a seat in the emergency exit row. We reserve the right to reassign your seat.

If your child is flying on one of our partner airlines, contact the airline directly to make unaccompanied minor travel arrangements. If you have a Scoot flight in your itinerary, please note that unaccompanied minors between 5 and 12 years old are not accepted on Scoot flights.

ESTA is an automated system that determines the eligibility of visitors to travel to the United States under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) . Authorization via ESTA does not determine whether a traveler is admissible to the United States. U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers determine admissibility upon travelers’ arrival. The ESTA application collects biographic information and answers to VWP eligibility questions. ESTA applications may be submitted at any time prior to travel, though it is recommended that travelers apply as soon as they begin preparing travel plans or prior to purchasing airline tickets.

Travel documents for kids

When travelling with your children, most likely you need to bring some additional travel documents. Make sure to check what applies to your family.

Which documents

Which travel documents you need to bring for your kids, depends on a couple of factors:

  • your country of departure, transfer, and destination;
  • your nationality;
  • your country of residence.

We advise checking the embassy website of the country you’re visiting. For detailed information suitable for your trip, check our travel documents tool.

Passport or ID card

Children of European Union citizens travelling from, to or via EU countries need to carry their own passport or ID card. Having their names entered in their parent’s passports is no longer permitted. This restriction does not apply to document holders of the United Kingdom or Ireland.

Consent form for minors

Is your child travelling alone, with only 1 parent or guardian, or with an adult that does not have parental authority? Before going through security control, you’ll have to complete a consent form.

Birth certificate

Does your child have a different last name than you? Please bring the family booklet or birth certificate to prove your connection.

Extra documents for specific destinations

You might need to bring various additional documents for your child for specific destinations. You’ll find detailed information about all destinations in our travel documents tool.

All children younger than 18 years and travelling to Barbados without a parent or legal guardian need to bring a letter of authorisation from their parent or legal guardian. This letter should specify who will pick them up at Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados. It is a mandatory addition to the forms required for the Unaccompanied Minor service.

When travelling alone, their parent or legal guardian need to submit a request to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) via [email protected] .

For travel to and from Brazil, all children born in Brazil need to bring several documents, regardless of whether they travel with both parents, 1 parent, an accompanying adult, or alone.

I-131, Application for Travel Document

ALERT: On Jan. 31, 2024, we published a  final rule in the Federal Register, that adjusts the fees required for most immigration applications and petitions. The new fees will be effective April 1, 2024.

Applications and petitions postmarked on or after April 1, 2024, must include the new fees or we will not accept them.

What to Know About Sending Us Your Form

The new filing fee is effective for filings postmarked April 1, 2024, and later. If you are filing an acceptable prior form edition on or after April 1, 2024, you must include the new filing fee.

Alert:  Beginning July 1, 2022, we will issue a new travel authorization document to Temporary Protected Status (TPS) beneficiaries: Form I-512T, Authorization for Travel by a Noncitizen to the United States, at our discretion if we find the beneficiary merits this authorization. We will no longer issue advance parole documents as evidence of our prior authorization for a TPS beneficiary to be permitted to reenter the United States if the beneficiary travels outside the United States.

Beginning July 1, 2022, we will issue a new travel authorization document to Temporary Protected Status (TPS) beneficiaries: Form I-512T, Authorization for Travel by a Noncitizen to the United States, at our discretion if we find the beneficiary merits this authorization. We will no longer issue advance parole documents as evidence of our prior authorization for a TPS beneficiary to be permitted to reenter the United States if the beneficiary travels outside the United States.

If you are a TPS beneficiary with an existing, unexpired advance parole document, you may continue to travel and seek reentry to the United States after a trip outside the United States through the period of validity printed on your advance parole document.

If you are a TPS beneficiary applying for a new travel authorization document, you should continue to use Form I-131, Application for Travel Document. If you have a pending Form I-131, you do not need to file a new application.

We will continue to issue advance parole documents to noncitizens with pending initial applications for TPS (Form I-821).

TPS beneficiaries and individuals with pending initial TPS applications should carefully read the Form I-131 Instructions which contain warnings about certain risks an individual may face if they are outside of the United States while USCIS is considering their TPS reregistration or initial application, such as missing important request for evidence or other notices or being denied TPS while outside the United States.

ALERT: Court decisions regarding DACA.

On Sept. 13, 2023, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas issued a decision finding the DACA Final Rule unlawful and expanding the original July 16, 2021, injunction and order of vacatur to cover the Final Rule. However, the court maintained a partial stay of the order for “all DACA recipients who received their initial DACA status prior to July 16, 2021.” See the Memorandum and Order (PDF, 1.35 MB)  and Supplemental Order of Injunction (PDF, 72.53 KB) .

Accordingly, current grants of DACA and related Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) remain valid until they expire, unless individually terminated.  In accordance with this decision, USCIS will continue to accept and process DACA renewal requests and accompanying applications for employment authorization under the DACA regulations at 8 CFR 236.22 and 236.23, as it has since October 31, 2022. We will also continue to accept initial DACA requests, but in accordance with the District Court’s order, we will not process initial DACA requests.

Current valid grants of DACA and related EADs will continue to be recognized as valid under the Final Rule. This means that individuals with DACA and related EADs do not have to submit a request for DACA or employment authorization until the appropriate time to seek renewal.

Please see the  DACA Litigation Information Page  for important updates and information related to court rulings on the DACA policy.

Use this form to apply for a reentry permit, refugee travel document, TPS travel authorization document, advance parole document (including parole into the United States for urgent humanitarian reasons or significant public benefit), or advance permission to travel for Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) long-term residents.

For information on travel documents, including potential immigration-related consequences of traveling outside the United States, see our Travel Documents page. If you are in the United States and you have an urgent need to travel outside the United States, see our Expedite Requests page and  Emergency Travel  page.

If you file this form to request an Advance Parole Document authorizing you to seek parole in the United States when you return to the United States after temporary travel abroad, and you depart the United States before we issue your Advance Parole Document, we will consider your Form I-131 abandoned unless you were previously issued an Advance Parole Document that remains valid for the entire time you are outside the United States.

If you file this form to request an advance permission to travel for CNMI long-term residents document, and you leave the CNMI without having an advance permission to travel document, your status will automatically terminate.

Nationals of these countries intending to submit an online application for such a certificate should carefully read the following before proceeding to the next page.

Basic requirements To be eligible for an ROC Travel Authorization Certificate, the following three basic requirements must be met:

  • The applicant’s passport must have remaining validity of at least six months starting from the date of arrival in Taiwan.
  • The applicant must possess an onward/return air or ferry ticket.
  • The applicant has never been employed as a blue-collar worker in Taiwan.

Additional requirements In addition to the aforementioned basic requirements, one of the following requirements must also be met:

1.The applicant possesses at least one of the following documents issued by Australia, Canada, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, any of EU and Schengen countries, the United Kingdom, or the United States:

  • Valid resident or permanent resident card
  • Valid entry visa (may be electronic visa)
  • Resident card or visa that has expired less than 10 years prior to the date of arrival in Taiwan

※Applicant who uses an electronic visa issued by Australia or New Zealand as the required document must present the valid Australia or New Zealand electronic visa as entering Taiwan.

※Applicant who uses a visa issued by Japan/Korea as the required document must present the proof record of entering Japan/Korea.

2.The applicant possesses an entry visa or resident card issued by the ROC at any point in the past 10 years and has no record of immigration irregularities or law violations in Taiwan. However, holders of ROC entry visas bearing the remark FL (migrant worker), X (others), or P with “Special permission from MOFA” (visa and eVisa for “Project for Simplifying Visa Regulations for High-end Group Tourists from Southeast Asian Countries (Project Kuan-Hong)” ever issued), as well as holders of ROC resident cards with stated purpose of residence being migrant worker (移工), are not eligible for an ROC Travel Authorization Certificate. Notes

  • You can only enter R.O.C. (Taiwan) with TAC six times within a one-year period that begins on January 1 and ends on December 31. If you require additional visits to Taiwan, please apply for visitor visa at R.O.C. (Taiwan) embassies or overseas missions.
  • At the time of filing, you must answer all questions fully and accurately. You will be prohibited from entering R.O.C. (Taiwan) if you have entered with TAC six times.
  • An approved ROC Travel Authorization Certificate is valid for 90 days. Multiple entries within these 90 days are allowed. The holder of an ROC Travel Authorization Certificate may stay in Taiwan for 14 days, starting from the day after arrival. If the holder wishes to apply for another ROC Travel Authorization Certificate, he or she must do so seven days prior to the expiry of the current certificate.
  • If any mistake is made during the online application process, the applicant may submit a new application.
  • Online applications can only be made by persons holding valid regular passports. Persons holding temporary, emergency, or informal passports, or travel documents other than a passport, cannot submit online applications.
  • The visas in the aforementioned list of required documents do not include work permits.
  • Holders of aforementioned visas bearing such stamps as VOID, CANCELLED, or CANCELLED WITHOUT PREJUDICE are not eligible for an ROC Travel Authorization Certificate.
  • With regard to resident cards or visas that have expired less than 10 years ago, this means that the time between the expiry date of the resident card or visa and the date of arrival in Taiwan may not be longer than 10 years. • Applicants who hold permanent resident cards with no expiry date may enter 9999 for year, 12 for month and 31 for day in the Date field.
  • Once the application has been approved, the applicant should print out the ROC Travel Authorization Certificate. The applicant must present the certificate and the required documents for inspection when entering Taiwan. Entry will be denied if the required documents are not produced.
