- Trivia Images from this short comedy clip have repeatedly been used in internet "memes"/posts to wrongly suggest that The Simpsons made a visual prediction of Donald Trump becoming president, 16 years before it happened. This short was in fact only made after Trump announced his candidacy. In Bart to the Future (2000) , a comment by Lisa was the show's "prediction" of Trump being president.

10 more times The Simpsons predicted the future
How do they do it? The Simpsons have become famous for predicting a variety of world events, such as Trump’s U.S. presidency, FIFA’s bribery scandal, and Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox.
The God Particle
The ebola outbreak, legal marijuana in canada, the winners of the nobel prize, the oceangate submersible tragedy, an everyman becomes an astronaut, the three-eyed fish, america beats sweden in olympic curling.
- The destruction of King’s Landing
Either the showrunners have access to a crystal ball, or all of their writers who went to Harvard studied under Professor X. Nevertheless, there seem to be many more instances of this animated series correctly guessing future events. Let’s break them down, shall we?
First hypothesized in 1964, the Higgs boson particle is part of the Higgs field, which gives mass to other elementary particles, making it responsible for the existence of atomic elements and, thus, the entire universe.
The existence of this “God particle” was proven in 2012, but physicist Simon Singh confirmed that, in the season 10 episode The Wizard of Evergreen Terrace , Homer writes down an equation that actually predicts the mass of the Higgs boson. Who would’ve thought The Simpsons would confirm the origin of the universe first, beating scientists by 14 years?
The 1997 episode Lisa’s Sax features Marge offering to read the young Bart a children’s book titled, “Curious George and the Ebola Virus.” Though Ebola has been known to exist as far back as the 70s, countries outside of Africa, including the U.S., didn’t face a huge outbreak of the virus until the one that occurred in 2013.
In the 2005 episode Midnight Rx , Homer, Flanders, and Apu travel to Canada to smuggle prescription drugs into Springfield. While they’re in the Great White North, Flanders meets his Canadian doppelgänger, who offers him a “reeferino,” saying it’s legal in the country. However, it wasn’t until 2018 that Canada legalized marijuana for recreational use.
Milhouse proved himself to be quite the gambler in Elementary School Musical , an episode that begins with him and his friends betting on who would win the Nobel Prize. Though this episode aired in 2010, two people on Milhouse’s list, Bengt R. Holmström and W.E Moerner, would receive the Nobel Prize in their respective categories years later.
It’s already common knowledge that the show predicted Trump’s presidency way back in the year 2000. But it is also worth noting that in 2015, The Simpsons predicted that Trump would run again in the 2024 election.
In the short video Trumptastic Voyage , Homer takes a surreal journey into Trump’s hair, where viewers can see a floating campaign sign that reads, “Trump 2024.”
When OceanGate’s Titan submersible vanished while visiting the Titanic shipwreck in mid-2023, many people found eerie similarities between the breaking news story and the 2006 episode Homer’s Paternity Coot .
In it, Homer pilots a sub to retrieve an undersea treasure, only to get stuck in some coral and nearly die from a lack of oxygen. Though Homer survives this undersea peril, the five crew members of the Titan weren’t so fortunate, as the latter’s vessel imploded in a tragedy that made headlines worldwide.
The classic episode Deep Space Homer shows NASA sending Homer, an ordinary man, into space to boost their Nielsen ratings. This premise may have been based on the now-defunct Teacher in Space Program, but the U.K. pulled a more similar stunt with a contest back in 2013, which ended with “average Joe” Oliver Knight getting the chance to get launched into the stars. Let’s hope that’s all this episode predicted because I, for one, don’t welcome any insect overlords.
The three-eyed fish Blinky has been a minor but recurring character in The Simpsons . Having been created by the nuclear waste left by Springfield’s nuclear power plant, this mutant fish has gone on to become the mascot of the town’s curling team and has even made cameos in Futurama .
However, Blinky made the jump to reality when a similar three-eyed fish was discovered in Argentina, swimming in a reservoir contaminated by a nearby nuclear plant.
In the 2010 episode, Boy Meets Curl , Homer and Marge compete with the U.S. curling team against Sweden at the Vancouver Olympics. Though they nearly admit defeat, the Simpsons win the match.
This episode parallels the match between the U.S. and Sweden at the 2018 Winter Olympics, which showed the former winning the gold medal in a surprising comeback.
The destruction of King’s Landing
The season 29 episode The Serfsons reimagines Springfield as the medieval fantasy kingdom “Springfieldia,” where magic and dragons exist in the vein of Game of Thrones and The Lord of the Rings .
This story very much foreshadows the twist ending to the former’s penultimate episode, The Bells , in which Daenerys Targaryen burns down King’s Landing on the back of one of her dragons. The episode ends with Homer reviving a dragon, which burns Springfieldia to the ground in a sea of fire. Seriously, who wrote this episode? Bran Stark?
During the Super Bowl, the first trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine had a notable lack of Wolverine. The reveal of Hugh Jackman's iconic comic book movie hero was saved for another time, which has now arrived. Marvel Studios has released the second trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine, which features Wolverine almost immediately coming face-to-face with Deadpool. And he's not happy to see him.

‘The Simpsons’ predicted Donald Trump running for president in 2024 many years ago
They say a broken clock is right twice a day, but for The Simpsons it seems to be right all the time. The beloved animation series famously predicted Donald Trump winning in 2016, and people have just realized that they predicted him running again in 2024.
Gifted with the ability to see into the future, The Simpsons writers have once again taken a glimpse and given us all a warning for what will inevitably happen. Confirmed yet again today by showrunner Al Jean, they managed to predict Trump’s return to the campaign race for the 2024 elections.
Back in 2015, a short was released from The Simpsons called “Trumptastic Voyage” which birthed the famous escalator scene, and saw Homer travel through Trump’s brain and hair, finding a campaign sign which flicked up four years every other second. The joke clearly being Trump will likely never give up his aspirations to be president.
. @TheSimpsons As predicted in 2015 pic.twitter.com/BQEbCXAyy2 — Al Jean (@AlJean) November 16, 2022
The Simpsons , even though it arguably doesn’t have the same audience impact it once had, it still remained a huge critic of Trump during his presidency. Trump as a character borders so much on becoming a parody of himself, he’s incredibly hard to satirize well. It’s like making fun of The Simpsons itself.
Jean being so quick to post out their prediction being right again also shows how easily forecast the presidential return was for nearly everyone. Trump returning was an inevitability, and something the world should’ve been better prepared for.
The “Trumptastic Voyage” short can be viewed on YouTube, with the rest of The Simpsons anthology available to stream on Disney Plus.

The Simpsons predicts Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential run in 2015 clip
A a mini-episode of The Simpsons foreshadowed Donald Trump ’s announcement that he was to run for president in 2024.
The former president launched a new campaign on 15 November, despite losing the last election to Joe Biden .
In the 2015 short called “Trumptastic Voyage”, filmed before Trump was elected for his first term, Homer has a “close encounter” with his hairpiece.
As he floats through strands of hair, a sign saying “Trump 2024” can be seen.
The Simpsons has previously correctly predicted several moments in history.

'The Simpsons' Takes Aim at Donald Trump (and His Hair) in New Promo
Homer Simpson goes on a "Trumptastic Voyage" in a new promo for the 27th season of the animated series.
Neither Donald Trump's recent business woes nor his legendary hairpiece are safe in this new promo for the 27th season of "The Simpsons" that lampoons the Republican presidential contender.
Called "Trumptastic Voyage," the teaser finds Homer Simpson paid $50 to cheer at the launch of Trump's campaign , only to be drawn into the magical mysteries of the candidate's hair. "If I touch it, will it heal my baldness?" Homer wonders.
And so begins the voyage across Trump's scalp, sprinkled with references to his recent troubles involving the Miss Universe pageant, NBC and Macy's, among other things.
"The Simpsons," which earlier this week resolved a contract dispute with voice actor Harry Shearer, will hold at panel Saturday at Comic-Con International. The 27th season premieres Sept. 27.

The Simpsons does it again, predicting Trump presidency 16 years ago
By daily sabah.
The Simpsons has done it again. The show correctly predicted that Donald Trump would become the President of the United States, way back in 2000.
The prediction was outlined in the 17th episode of the 11th season, titled 'Bart To The Future' 16 years ago and broadcast in early 2000.
The episode portrays a grown-up Lisa as Trump's successor, who quips: "We've inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump". Sitting in the Oval office surrounded by her advisors she asks: "How bad is it Secretary van Houten?"
The iconic show, which recently aired its 600th episode, also broadcast another episode in 2015 titled 'Trumptastic Voyage', referencing Trump's real-life decision to run for the presidency. The clip featured Trump coming down an escalator with Homer Simpson, mocking Trump's announcement for candidacy with his wife Melania.
Simpsons creator Matt Groening had told British daily The Guardian earlier in the year that they had chosen Trump because he was "the most absurd placeholder joke name that [they] could think of". "It's beyond satire," he had said.
Also, writer Dan Greaney had said the episode back in 2000 had 'a dark message behind it' and was 'a warning to America" in an interview in March with The Hollywood Reporter.
"That just seemed like the logical last stop before hitting bottom. It was pitched because it was consistent with the vision of America going insane."
This was not the Simpsons' first correct prediction about future events though.
In season 6, episode 19, named 'Lisa's Wedding' in 1995 the show had forecast that future phones would have video capabilities. In the episode, Lisa and Marge chatted on phones with video screens.
Donald Trump marked his astonishing victory over Hillary Clinton early on Wednesday morning, plunging global markets into turmoil and casting the long-standing global political order.
