The waterfront and business district in Burnie are on your doorstep, the rooms are well equipped and there is a restaurant selling steak and seafood, plus a bar, run by helpful staff and perfect for the many walking routes in the area.

The accommodation choices at Beachfront Voyager Motor Inn are the Executive Suite, the Standard Suite and the Sea View Executive Suite and Balcony. All are air-conditioned and have Wi-Fi, an LCD television, a mini-bar and facilities for making tea and coffee. Bathrooms have a shower, a hair dryer, towels and toiletries.

You get free bottled water, the use of an iron and ironing board, a clock radio, a telephone and the rooms, all of which are non-smoking, carpeted, have heating and are serviced daily. Bedding is all there for you, including electric blankets, as is a desk and a wardrobe. They also throw in free, in-house films. As you can expect from a motor inn, parking is free.

Standard rooms have a single bed while Executives have a queen bed. Cots and a high chair are available in the Executive rooms, which also have more impressive views and a veranda. Some, but by no means all, are accessed by stairs, which is worth bearing in mind when booking if you have mobility issues. The balcony has a pair of outdoor chairs and a small drinks table.

Beachfront Voyager Motor Inn serves food daily at Raindrops Restaurant, specialising in Cape Grim prime rib beef and freshly caught seafood. You can enjoy a good selection of wines, beers and cocktails at the bar, every day except Sundays and public holidays, and if you pop down to the reception desk they will be pleased to give you a copy of a guide which outlines at least eleven walks in the area, from bush to beach. They can also lend a hand with tour and ticket booking, dry cleaning and luggage storage. There is a conference room available too, as well as free newspapers in the lobby.

As well as offering plenty of eco-tourism, this part of Burnie is right inside the Central Business District (CBD). The town has the Burnie Regional Museum, the Burnie Regional Art Gallery, the impressive Ansleigh Gardens, and you are less than ten minutes’ walk from Maker’s Workshop Information Centre. The boardwalk is a good place for a leisurely stroll, while Burnie Arts and Function Centre is little more than five minutes away. The nearest airport is Devonport DPO, which can be reached by car in forty minutes.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. It is getting on a little, however it was built to a high standard in it's day and everything worked and was functional. Very good value meal in the restaurant was very enjoyable.

frustrating ”

internet was horrible had to rely on my own phone personal hotspot to do anything, 2024 and hotels still cannot get it right!, like a 3rd world country. An expensive place for what it is ..

Room was clean and tidy, staff did a great job of booking us in, location was central. Biggest issue was the winter quilt on the bed, don't like sleeping with the a/c on as it dries out my sinus's. It was too cold for just a sheet and too hot with the winter quilt in February..

Unfortunately this restaurant was a little disappointing, when we arrived there were maybe 6 other tables with customers, the biggest being 10 people and other mainly couples. The service was friendly and at one point was asked twice by different waitresses to order drinks. In... regards to food, I asked about a specific dish due tonallergies and they confirmed that the restaurant could accommodate. 45 mins after ordering our meals came out with the food that I could not eat. The found girl another different waitress apologised and informed me that who ever put the order through did it wrong, it was rectified. With 5 waitresses there appeared to be no communication and they appeared to become overwhelmed when the restaurant got a lot busier. Waiting 45 mins for our meals that were simple dishes, seafood should not take that long. The ambience of fake plants everywhere was a bit off putting as well. More

Eight of us are here two nights before Christmas. They fit us in late notice and still the service was absolutely fantastic!! The food was sooo good, steaks were cooked to perfection and the staff were friendly, quick and accommodating. Highly recommend this restaurant!! The... only thing that I would like to see added is a change table, other than that, fabulous!! More

I have dined at Raindrops on and off over the years as a tourist visitor and when living in Tas. I'm sure the wait staff have come and gone over the years and Covid may not have helped with staff retention but I have always... found the staff that have served me friendly and helpful. The menu has been and still is a nice mixture of more traditional fayre and the options of maybe something 'a little fancy', there are usually Vegetarian options too and possibly (check first) Gluten free options too??. Had a great meal recently washed down with a delicious cocktail. Entree Arancini balls were crispy but not oily with roast capsicum and garlic aioli. My hubby had oysters and unlike many a restaurant there was also the option of just 3 oysters as well as the standard half or full dozen options PLUS Raindrops are happy to do a oyster combo Natural, Kilpatrick and Tokyo style being the choices. Great main course of Atlantic salmon and a big bowl of battered scallops. All in all well worth the trip. Raindrops is part of the Beachfront Voyager Motel complex but you don't need to be a motel guest to dine there but if you are room service is available too and breakfast. Not open for dinner 7 days I think Sunday is their closed night. Would recommend !! More

I have loved this restaurant for years and always suggest to people when asked for a good place to eat, that is until last night , this is the first time I went to Raindrops in a large group (25 people) and sadly I have... to say they cant handle large groups. arrived at 5:30 and as one person was on dinner break from hospital ordered straight away informing staff of this Issues to make sure meals came out quick as they could, at 6:30 had to cancel one meal as had to rtn to work at 7pm I along with a full table of patrons was ready to cancel our meals and head off home. when meals did come out a few minutes later 50% of them were wrong, we were informed by staff that as we were a big group they were trying to spread the load out among the other patrons that booked later than us, hmmm ok so the request for quick service for patron that only had 60min and ordered at 5:40 meant nothing. I sadly do not want to rtn after this experience, and have already discussed with people who were thinking of going but are now not....... My suggestion if you cant handle big groups don't book big groups. as a small group patron you have been A1 as a large group Patron I will not return. More

Giving 0 stars for a number of reasons. Menu listed scallops on there own or in a number of dishes, also a Lamb shanks dish both unavailable. I get somethings being seasonal etc. but be flexible with your menu or print new ones. At approx... 7pm. Left at 8 pm with no sign of food being ready. There were severl tables that arrived after we did, all who had neals before we did. There was another larger group on the tabke behind ours, that ordered approx 10 minutes before we did, they had all been served and finidhed before we left at 8. No wait staff came near the table to explain there was a delay. I won't be back. More

Recently attended a celebration dinner at Raindrops Restaurant. We hadn't visited for a few years. Whole ambience of the restaurant was really nice. The staff were pleasant and efficient. Our orders were taken quickly and food timing and delivery through the evening was ideal. The... food in particular was really tasty and very well prepared. Comprehensive drinks list. All the ingredients for a very pleasant evening. Highly recommended. More

Poor food and poor customer service to top it off. Other then my table of 5, there were a total of 4 other customers in the restaurant on a Thursday night over the Christmas break so not like they were busy AT ALL. Out of... the stuffed mushrooms, arancini, cob loaf, stuffed chicken breast, scollops and salmon; the stuffed mushroom entree and cob loaf were the only things we slightly enjoyed. First review ever written and I am mainly writing because after letting the staff know we could not eat the mains the lady gave me attitude and was very rude. I understand everyone has a bad night but it doesn’t sound like that was the case at all and I will not be giving this restaurant any business again. Unenjoyable experience. More

Fish not available for seafood platter. They provided extra prawns/scallops to compensate. Salad and dressings and tartare sauce probably came from Coles/woolies. Risotto advertised with goats cheese. None came out. Had to ask for fetta. No stock tasted in risotto.

We stayed at the Voyager Motel for a few nights and went to the Raindrops Resturant downstairs. It was great the staff were nice the food was great and well priced.I had the crispy beef I have never had anything so good and desert my... wife and I left very happy. More

This restaurant has been in Burnie for ever the last time I stepped into it was at least 20 years ago.......the decor has not changed ! The food was very very disappointing being a vego there was two options or so I thought.....entree of roasted... beetroot salad with walnuts and feta, main...mushroom risotto, I asked the waitress what sort of stock was used in the risotto which was chicken so that limited me to choose the beetroot salad as a main consisting of way to much mesclun lettuce, walnuts and a sprinkling of feta $28 later for a meal I have made myself for under $10, my partner had chicken schnitzel served on supermarket chips with a side salad with a very bitter dressing, he did say the chicken was nice. The menus are presented on a laminated piece of paper, the options of side dishes are chips and salad or veg ???? This so called "restaurant " is nothing but very expensive pub grub in a setting with no bar or pokies, if I wanted a pub meal I would have walked across the road to the Beach Hotel. Get a clue people you live in a place with the freshest and best quality produce that is sent world wide, its insulting!!!!! The only place to eat in Burnie is Bayview's Restaurant which I was looking at through the the window while eating my overpriced mesclun wishing I'd made a different choice. More

Planned a special dinner at the Bayview restaurant which specialized in seafood. Only fish they had on the menu was farmed Atlantic salmon. No thanks. Read the varied reviews on raindrops restaurant, mostly good,some not so, but thought we would try anyway. Thankfully a wise... decision. Coconut Prawns, and Flathead ( on special at $18) was really very good. Not expensive and the lady maitre de, was lovely and attentive. Enjoyable experience. More

A lovely restaurant that serves the best food in Burnie I'm a retired chef and it's one of the hardest jobs to please a chef but I can honestly say this is one of the best restaurants I have had the pleasure to eat in... and I have travelled a lot of the world and their scotch fillet is the best I have ever tasted. This place is well positioned to be an absolute cracker. It has an awesome original 70's decor that could be taken advantage of. Since my last visit however the food quality in this restaurant has plummeted. Menu prices are laughable for the food you are... served. Entree of seafood chowder was some frozen prawns and frozen scallops thawed out in some runny thin cream or carnation milk. Horrible and tasteless. Served with a packaged butter portion and a dinner roll...one of the frozen ones that come in boxes and you reheat. For the prices on this menu, that is insulting. The $17 (yes $17-) entree of fried fillet of beef strips with dipping sauce was a burnt little pile of almost black fried meat no bigger than a match box. I am NOT exagerating. To add insult it was garnished with a piece of lettuce from the standard mesculin mix leaf that you buy at woolworths. Puhlease...for the price??? Come on!! ?? We rejected this for the price and were offered some more meat however we declined because it honestly looked horrible. The waitress told us it was the offcuts from the scotch fillet. When we rejected the offer of a larger portion the waitress made sure that from the kitchen door, she yelled to the chef that we didn't want it. The next waitress asked me how my chowder was when she noticed that I had left the bowl of milk. I advised her quietly that it really was tasteless. She offerred something but I advised it was ok that I had eaten the seafood (frozen) out of it ( I was hungry) anyway. Then the $36 steak came out. With frozen fries, boiled carrots and cauliflower/broccoli in cheese sauce (out of a bottle). The broccoli was brown. Refer to the picture for how it was presented on the plate! Not even house cut fries for these prices??? Unbelievable poor in quality and presentation for the price. A big plus was that the steak was tender and it was cooked rare as we had requested. I think if the steak had not been ok we would gave refused to pay at all. We observed another diner advising the waitress that his steak had not been cooked as he had asked. We honestly could not do anything but laugh. We tried not to let our rare opportunity for a night out to dinner together to be spoiled. Obviously for our benefit, the waitress again yelled from the kitchen door that the seafood chowder was nice. At least her theatrics gave us some entertainment and something to laugh at as well. I must qualify at this stage that the blonde haired waitress remained professional and nice, even tho she would have found it challenging to have to receive our negative feedback. The dark haired doorway yelling waitress needs to learn however its not personal. When you ask how meals are you have to be able to handle the truth professionally. We ordered some sweets....more for the amusement just so we could see possibly 'what next' and maybe have another laugh. We had little warm mudcakes which were nice. But you guessed it...the accompanying cream was ...yes....out of a spray can!!! So we had another giggle. We didn't say anything however as we were already 'mr and mrs pain in the butt' who should just eat and say everything is fine when asked! I am sure they were glad to see the back of us.....and that was also made obvious by the waitress who took our money. They need not worry. They have seen our backs for the last time. And they will never see the front or back of any of our friends and family again. More
