The secret Tour Pro is a highly followed Twitter account believed to be run by and undercover current Tour pro. The head of a golf company once told me who he thought it was, or actually insisted it is. I'm not sure who it is, but have a few theories. He could be a collective of top pros sharing the same account (which fits with what company head told me), a high level industry insider or simply a troll from Pennsylvania.

What are your thoughts, who is he?

I'm assuming multiple people as well just for the wide range of inside info he has.  I also do think Adam Scott is a part of it.  He's done a wonderful job at misdirection, so much so that if Adam came right out and said he was the pro nobody would believe him

I've tried narrowing it down from little clues. But the multiple makes sense. I had a leaning towards Charl Schwartzel. There is definitely a major champion involved but it's not a house hold name.

It's a bunch of different players. In one of the GD articles, it was definitely Horschel. Then in another, it was someone like Elkington.

I agree. r/golf looks like a bunch of choir boys next to Twitter and Instagram. The whole Paige Spiranac debacle males me sad to be a human being.

But STP is one of the few Twitter accounts I follow, along with MGSers and a handful of other random nonsense. His posts are interesting and usually in good taste. I don't want to know who it is. Just enjoy the tweets.

I'm not sure, but a collection of players makes sense.  Also enjoy the Undercover Pro or whatever he's called in Golf Digest.  About the only thing other than equipment pics that I enjoy from it.

:ping-small:

The account has some interesting information from time to time.  There has been some speculation recently that the account is operated by a Netjets pilot who regularly flies players and has access to privileged information.  There has also been an attempt by one major golf journalist to identify STP.  I am not sure he ever did with any certainty.

Whoever operates the account is entertaining for the most part.

I love the STP account. To me its more likely that its a mix of players and their caddies. Prolly more so the caddies doing most of it.

Very few things I follow on Twitter, mostly golf-related, but for anyone interested I find @ESPNCaddie Michael Collins entertaining and humorous. Seems to be "in" with a lot of the Tour players - and the Ladies, too - and uses to haul a bag himself for awhile.

Doesn't even interest me at all

he is very good and funny.  I'd like to see him in the booth as the color guy for a tournament give some insight as to what players and caddies are discussing at certain times and provide some humor along the way.

Golf News Net: What you need to know about golf

Why did @secrettourpro delete their account? What’s his identity?

who is secret tour pro on twitter

It appears the Twitter account known as Secret Tour Pro (@secrettourpro) has been deleted -- or, at a minimum, temporarily suspended.

This comes on the heels of an announcement of a forthcoming series of revelations about the true identity of the Secret Tour Pro. That announcement, not incidentally, was first made on the website secrettourpro.com, which was purchased by a STP follower at the behest of the person behind that account. The people who will reveal STP's true identity -- and we're going to give them the runway to do that because they deserve it -- have worked with, collaborated with and, in some cases, actually met the person behind this account.

Who is the Secret Tour Pro? It's not a tour pro, but rather a Brit named Michael Double (also known as Michael Scott), who has previously worked for RyanAir and, according to his LinkedIn profile, has run social media accounts for touring pros on a freelance basis.

who is secret tour pro on twitter

Double went onto Swingcast on Twitch on March 24, explaining himself somewhat, including saying that the information (often erroneous) he tweeted was information he acquired from his pro clients.

who is secret tour pro on twitter

As more info is shared, we'll help bring some of the pieces together. In the meantime, you can catch up on how the Secret Tour Pro worked so hard to maintain an untruthful identity in our 2016 piece on him.

The Secret Tour Pro Interview Part 1

If you are involved in golf in anyway then you have heard of The Secret Tour Pro.  You read his tweets and you follow his instagram stories.  You dissect his hashtags and you hope for a glimpse of who this person really is. The secret tour pro account was started in April of 2015.  He claims to play on the European as well as PGA tours.  Some people call him a fraud and think the account is fake.  Haters lay claim to the fact that some pictures he posts are not his own (is it to throw us off the trail?)  Others claim that he has to be real because of all the inside PGA knowledge he has posted.

His profile picture is of Adam Scott, he retweets most things about Adam Scott...it must be Adam Scott.  Why in the world would Adam Scott (he of the sweetest swing) go through this trouble?  Again, The STP must be trying to throw us off his scent. To borrow an old MTV phrase, You think you know, but you have no idea. AngryGolfHulk and Swing Juice were able to catch up with @secrettourpro and he was gracious to answer all of our questions completely unfiltered.  Enjoy part 1 of this 2 part interview and let us know if you were able to pick up any clues to whom he may be.

AngryGolfHulk- Where can you find the best food on tour?

Secret Tour Pro- The Ryder Cup Team Room.

AGH -Where are the best groupies on tour?

STP -Anywhere in Texas

AGH -What is the worst ruling you have ever seen giving to a player?

STP -The Lexi Thompson ruling Editors note:  During the ANA inspiration championship, a major on the LPGA tour, Lexi misplaced marking her ball on the green.  The next day a viewer emailed the tour and Lexi was handed down a 4 stroke penalty ( 2 strokes for playing a ball from an improper spot and another 2 strokes for signing an incorrect scorecard.  She would go on to lose in a sudden death playoff, costing her $150,000 and her first Major Championship)

AGH -What is the worst cheating you've witnessed on the golf course?

STP -The worst cheating I saw was in college.  I refused to sign a dudes scorecard and he tried to fist fight me.  On the PGA tour people watch like a hawk so it's very rare.

AGH- What is the best overall event?

STP -The Masters

AGH -Who is the smartest player out there?

STP -Henny Stenson

AGH -Who is the coolest player to hang out with after a round?

STP -That's going to be Rickie Fowler or Pat Perez.

AGH -Who has the most annoying entourage?

STP- Smylie Kaufman

AGH -How long have you been on tour?

STP -Not answering.  Cannot give any hints.

AGH -What are your biggest pet peeves on tour?

STP -The pace of play with players reading greens, that and some people's egos.

AGH -Best city you get to play in?

STP -Boston.

AGH -Best course conditions and the most fun course to play?

STP- Augusta for both.

AGH -Worst course you play all year?

STP -Too tough to choose.  A lot of them suck.  Bellerieve (2018 PGA Championship) was dog shit I can attest.

AGH -Do you feel any difference in pressure being near the top of the leaderboard?

STP -Nope, trust your swing and let the chips fall as they may.  Pressure only comes from not being prepared.

AGH -What tournament has the best trophy?

STP -Don't care.  First place trophy $$$

**Part two will be released next Friday.

Not good enough to be on tour...games a little shaky, then check out these two stellar wardrobe additions to make people think you're actually good at golf. Click on the shirts, wear the shirt and feel free to tell people you shot whatever score you like.

Drop a comment below on who you think Secret Tour Pro might be. Keep that swing juice flowing. @AngryGolfHulk is searching the ethos for the true identity of the @secrettourpro

10 Twitter Accounts Every Golfer Should Follow

10 Twitter Accounts Every Golfer Should Follow

It's a great time to be a golfer on Twitter. There exists a wide array of hillarious and insightful golf Twitter accounts that you should be following (if you aren't already). Here's 10 of the best and the ones I recommend (in no particular order).

No Laying Up ( @NoLayingUp )

The guys at No Laying Up have built one of the most successful, humorous, and accredited Golf accounts out there. Whether it’s their latest “ Tour Sauce ” moment or #PrayForTedScott (Bubba Watson’s caddie) they produce a level of golf humor and sarcasm compared to no other account out there.

Skratch ( @Skratch )

Skratch TV was created by the PGA Tour to appeal to the millennial golfer. The bio on their Twitter account is “It’s just golf, try not to take it so seriously,” and they live by this. Everything from a sarcastic GIF to highlights from the current tournament going on, Skratch TV has successfully made a name for itself in the millennial golf world.

Secret Tour Pro ( @secrettourpro )

This account is a mystery to all.  The man behind it is a current touring professional but has managed to keep his identity a secret the whole time. He enjoys giving true insight from the mind of a touring professional and often times doesn’t filter his thoughts either.  The best part about this account? Continuously trying to guess who the Secret Tour Pro is.

LinksGems Golf Photos ( @LinksGems )

Offering some of the most exclusive and visually stunning looks into the most prestigious golf courses across the country, LinksGems does a fantastic job in catologuing courses many will never get to set their own eyes on. If you are sitting daydreaming about golf courses at your office desk, start with Links to set you in a great golfing mood.

Jason Sobel ( @JasonSobelESPN )

Jason Sobel works for ESPN and perfectly mixes his coverage of the sport with an imaginative commentary. His content covers different golf news and more times than not is written in the context you would find in a conversation between two buddies, not an ESPN writer.

Jonathan Wall ( @jonathanrwall )

Golf equipment is such a highly talked about tour topic and nobody covers equipment like Jonathan Wall. Week in and week out, the best players on tour are tinkering with shafts, lead tape or conversely have Henrik Stenson or Scotty Scheffeler holding on to their 10 year old 3-woods. If you want to learn more about tour equipment, Jonathan is a must follow.

View Equipment Deals

Nextgengolf ( @nextgolfer )

Nextgengolf brings you the most up to date news and updates on everything in the world of millennial golf, including City Tour and NCCGA content. If you're only following accounts related to professional golf, you're missing a whole other side to the game. Nextgengolf will keep you in the loop.

Follow Nextgengolf on Twitter

Max Homa ( @maxhoma23 )

Not that I want to get my own swing roasted on twitter but if you do, Max Homa is your guy. Max is always taking on different topics to discuss, does a lot of Q&As with followers and engages in general sports talk. Max is a must follow for guys on tour.

Eamon Lynch ( @e amonlynch)

Hot takes you wanted? Well, Eamon never stirs away from offering his commentary on issues within golf or the current topic of the week. The humor and sarcasm Eamon uses in his twitter is both refreshing and good for a laugh every time you see him tweet.

Shane Bacon ( @s hanebacon)

Shane has bounced around in many different positions in golf media but has consitently been one of the most influential voices in golf of recent. Between his bid for the US Open, stories about his caddie days in St. Andrews or tour coverage through Golf Channel, Shane brings an amazing viewpoint to golf coverage.

Tour Winner

Those of you on Twitter wont care, and then again those of you on Twitter may also not care, but anyone got any ideas who this Secret Tour Pro is? Any guesses? is he even a tour pro?

Rooter

Money List Winner

think its a spoof personally.

I think its more than one person. Poulter, Westwood, Fleetwood and Geoff Ogilvy!

Rooter said: think its a spoof personally. Click to expand...

Alex1975

More info please. I don't use Twitter, what sort of content is this person/people sharing?

Paul77

Challenge Tour Pro

For info folks. https://twitter.com/secrettourpro More than likely a pro that just wants to let off steam and not annoy the wage payers. Paul Lawrie tends to do it face to face with folk who give him stick on Twitter. He just lets em have it, it's quite entertaining to see him call someone a bawbag lol

MendieGK said: He gives some good insight onto stuff and usually responds to questions - he agreed with me that its better to hit the ball 280 in the first cut of rough then 230 on the fairway, so i like him. Click to expand...

Crawfy

Tour Rookie

I follow him, but not convinced he is a top pro Maybe a bored journeyman Or a caddie ?? Some funny stuff though. I agree that Lawrie is top class. Westy starts opening up...mostly after ahe's had a few... TwitterAlliss is still my favourite

LanDog

Journeyman Pro

I think the guy is a spoof personally, hype photos he puts up are either badly photoshopped or generic. It definitely isn't Ogilvy, listen to Ogilvy in interviews he's a traditionalist through and through and thinks the golf ball should be reigned in, 'the secret pro' seems to hold a different opinion

It looks like Wiesberger(?) from last week at The Open!

I follow Lee Westwood on twitter and this account and they way they respond to folk is very similar.

BoadieBroadus

Q-school graduate.

i thought it was a spoof to begin with but now think that Lee Westwood has something to do with it, and also that it is more than one pro working on the account... tweeted a lot at the open and suggested that he was a ping player with a footjoy shoe deal. played the open and is this week in switzerland.

I've been told from a very good sauce who it is. But I'm not at liberty to say. I could have made this up.

It’s time to tee it up at The Masters, and the first major of the year on the PGA Tour draws major wager action. The Masters field of 89 players was finalized Sunday with Akshay Bhatia punching his ticket to Augusta by winning the Valero Texas Open in a playoff over Denny McCarthy. The player profiles and 2024 Masters odds to win the green jacket are here for review—with 9 top profiles and performances at Augusta National outlined for the most bet golfers to win the 88th edition of The Masters. Now we add the back 9 at Augusta with a total of 18 holes, golfer profiles and performances, along with other capable players and longshots who could outperform their odds and cash in for bettors with a top finish on the leaderboard.

The top finishing position odds will be posted by the leading online sportsbooks early in the week and added here for reference and consideration, along with other prop bets that make watching and wagering on The Masters one of the most action-packed betting events on the PGA Tour—with adjusted odds and live betting driving additional interest and handle.

Scottie Scheffler, Masters Favorite

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (+400) is the prohibitive favorite by a wide margin to win The Masters and his second green jacket after winning the 2022 event by 3 strokes over Rory McIlroy (+1000), who is the second choice on the odds board at FanDuel and leading online sportsbooks. Not only are Scheffler’s stats dominant at the Par 72 Augusta National course, but he also enters in top form having won the Arnold Palmer Invitational and The Players Championship last month.

Here is the Scottie Scheffler Masters profile along with performances of the top 9 golfers and odds at The Masters. Also included in the link is the hole-by-hole description, yardage and difficulty rank by scoring from the 2023 Masters.

 • Scottie Scheffler (+400): The 2022 Masters champion finished T10 last year at Augusta, and he’s one of just three players to finish top 25 in each of the last four years at The Masters (Matsuyama, Lowry). The 27-year-old Scheffler has won twice on Tour this year and his pre-tournament odds are cut in half from last year’s Masters and the lowest pre-tournament favorite since Tiger Woods (+350) in 2013. Over his last 36 rounds, Scheffler ranks No. 1 in strokes gained Total and Approach. He also ranks No. 1 in SG: Ball Striking at Augusta since making his Masters debut. Scheffler maintains his standing as the No. 1 ranked player in the world and a popular pick again at historically low odds. Scheffler is +1200 to be leading The Masters at the end of Round 1.

Full Player-by-Player Guide To The Masters

 • Hole 10: Camellia — Par 4, 495 yards (Rank 9)

Will Zalatoris (+3500): Will Z. nearly won the 2021 Masters in his debut and finished solo second. The sensational ball striker showed his skills and love for the layout again in 2022 with a T-6 finish before missing the 2023 event and most the year following a back injury suffered in the The Players Championship. The 27-year-old has now shot 6-of-8 rounds under par at Augusta National, and he has 6 top-10 finishes in 8 majors starts. Zalatoris has finished T2 at The Genesis Invitational and T2 and T4 in the Arnold Palmer Invitational this Spring and his odds to win the Masters dropped from 50/1. Concerns are his Strokes Gained Around-the-Green and Puttings stats rank outside the top-150 over his last 24 rounds.

 • Hole 11: White Dogwood — Par 4, 520 yards (Rank 3)

Dustin Johnson (+3500): Need a big hitter to tee it up on the long, tough Par 4 at 11, and 2022 rain-softened November Masters winner Dustin Johnson fits the hole to a tee. The 39-year-old LIV Golfer is beyond his best days when he rose to World No. 1 in 2017 and remained there for 64 consecutive weeks. But he won the 2024 LIV Golf event in Las Vegas over Super Bowl week, and he has six top-12 finishes at The Masters since 2015.

 • Hole 12: Golden Bell — Par 3, 155 yards (Rank 12)

Tony Finau (+4000): Finau had three top-10 finishes in his first four appearances in The Masters, but has finished outside the top-25 the last two years. He fired a sizzling 64 on Saturday in the 2019 event and played in the final group with winner Tiger Woods. Finau broke through for three Tour wins in 2022 after a run of 57 top-1o finishes on Tour. The 34-year-old finished T2 in the recent Houston Open despite losing more than 3-strokes putting while leading the field Tee-to-Green. Finau’s elite long game makes him viable again but his putrid putting needs to improve significantly ranking outside the top-160 over his last 24 rounds.

Get your bets in and live wagering on your mobile around Amen Corner .

 • Hole 13: Azalea — Par 5, 545 yards (Rank 15)

Wyndham Clark (+3000): The best player behind Scottie Scheffler on Tour the past 12 months is Wyndham Clark. He won the U.S. Open, two Signature events plus another 2nd and runner-up in The Players Championship and 3rd at the Tour Championship. Still a wild card as the 30-year-old rapid riser to No. 4 in the world makes his Masters debut. Solid stats and performances leading into playing Augusta National, but he’s lost strokes Around the Green in four of his last five starts.

 • Hole 14: Chinese Fir — Par 4, 440 yards (Rank 8)

Shane Lowry (+4000): Since 2015, the 37-year-old Irishman and 2019 Open Championship winner has just one win in the U.S. His putting has held him back, but Lowry’s Tee-to-Green game has been among the top-tier in golf. Lowry ranks No. 205 in 4th round putting out of 214 qualified players the past past 3 years, losing an average of more than a half-stroke per round. Yet Lowry has still managed to finish with 18 Top 20’s over that period including with strong current form entering the Masters with a T4, 3rd and T19 at The Players Championship his last three events in March.

 • Hole 15: Firethorn — Par 5, 550 yards (Rank 16)

Cam Smith (+3000): The 30-year-old LIV Tour golfer needs his irons to click to offset his sub-par driving. But his short game and touch around green are terrific, which has led to strong performances at Augusta. Smith has four top-10 finishes in six starts at Augusta inclucing a runner-up fnish in 2020 November Masters when he became the first in Masters history to record four rounds in the 60’s in a single tournament. In the 2022 Masters, Smith played with Scottie Scheffler in the final pairing on Sunday before finishing T3.

 • Hole 16: Redbud — Par 3, 170 yards (Rank 14)

Tommy Fleetwood (+4000): The 33-year-old Englishman has yet to win on the PGA Tour. But he’s a seven-time DP World Tour winner who has flashed and finished well in PGA Tour events over the past few years with a pair of top-10’s this year and seven top-10’s since the 2023 Masters where he finished T33 after finishing T14 in 2022. His Approach stats have been poor losing strokes in five of his last six starts entering his eighth Masters start but he’s gained strokes Around the Green in seven of his last eight starts.

The 16th hole, Redbud , so perfectly suits its surroundings because the pond, rather than reflecting, seeems almost to gather in shapes and colors of the season. Current 2024 Masters competitors Shane Lowry (2016 at 5:25 minute mark), Justin Thomas (2019 at 7:10), Tommy Fleetwood (2021 at 7:30) and 2013 Masters champion Adam Scott (2012 at 3:45) made hole-in-ones here.

Tiger Woods chip shot at No. 16 in the 2005 Masters might be the most famous in the entire history of the tournament.

 • Hole 17: Nandia — Par 4, 440 yards (Rank 4)

Patrick Cantlay (+3300): Like his good friend Xander Schauffele, the 32-year-old Cantlay is one of the best golfers today to not yet win a major. He has just one top-10 in seven Masters starts and finished T14 last year after a final round 75 and another sub-par putting performance. The 32-year-old 2021 FedEx Cup Champion finished top-5 in the 2024 Genesis Invitational, but he ranks outside the top-100 in SG: Approach and Around the Green over his last 24 rounds. Six top-15 finishes in his last 10 majors provides hope for another top finish.

 • Hole 18: Holly — Par 4, 465 yards (Rank 2)

Ludvig Aberg (+2500): Among the top 10 on the odds board to win the Masters in his debut is the 24-year-old Swedish sensation. Aberg (pronounced ' Oh Bear ') has unlimited potential and he won the Euro Masters just prior to Ryder Cup last year shortly after turning pro, and then won on the PGA Tour. Since leaving Hawaii, he’s 5-for-5 finishing Top 25 with three top-10’s including a runner-up finish. We put the rising superstar on the 18th hole as he’s a capable contender who will try to be the first Masters champion to win on debut since Fuzzy Zoeller in 1979.

Today’s stars who came close to winning in their Masters debut are FanDuel ambassador Jordan Spieth (2014), Jason Day (2011), Sungjae Im (2020) and Will Zalatoris (2021), who all finished runner-up.

In the clubhouse with 18 more holes and 18 other honorable mention players as Masters contenders for a top finishing position:

Joaquin Niemann (+3000): The 25-year-old is shining on the LIV Golf Tour this year and he’s won three times in five starts between DP Tour and LIV Tour. Niemann averages 315 yards off the tee—second-longest on LIV Golf. His odds to win The Masters have dropped sharply, but he still only has one top-20 finish in 19 major championship starts.

Cameron Young (+5000): The 2022 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year has yet to win on Tour, but the 26-year-old has a pair of top-5 finishes in March leading into The Masters. He missed the cut badly in his Masters debut in 2022, but had a strong showing in the 2023 Masters finishing T7 despite shooting 75 on Saturday.

Matt Fitzpatrick (+4500): The 29-year-old Englishman won the U.S. Open in 2022 and finished top-21 in all four majors. He has 11 other top-10’s worldwide and went a calendar year without losing strokes off tee. However, he’s lost strokes on more than 75% of his starts since the 2023 U.S. Open last year. He’s also 8-for-8 making the cut at Augusta as a pro and finished T14 in 2022 and T10 in 2023 but has not shot in the 60’s in his last 17 rounds in The Masters.

Collin Morikawa (+5000): The 27-year-old is not in prefered form but his Masters log reads T10 in 2023 after opening strong with 69-69 into the weekend, T5 in 2022 and T18 in 2021 in four total starts. But Morikawa has just one top-20 since the 2024 opening Sentry tournament and his putrid Putting ranks outside the top 170 his last 24 rounds and outside the top-100 Around the Green.

Tyrrell Hatton (+6500): Undervalued and a stronger performer now on the LIV Golf Tour, Hatton has 15 tops 20’s in 21 final events last year including four top 6 Signature events plus a top-2o in the PGA Championship and Open Championship before joining LIV Golf. But his best finish in The Masters is T18 (2021) in seven starts.

Russell Henley (+7000): Another vastly underrated player who just finished 4th at the Valero Texas Open and also top-5 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Sony Open. The 34-year-old finished T4 at the 2023 Masters and also has two other top-15 finishes at Augusta in 2017 and 2018.

Sahith Theegala (+5500): The 26-year-old he drives it well and he’s finished top-10 four times in 2024 plus a top-10 in his Masters debut in 2023 with a best round of 67 on Sunday.

Max Homa (+4500): Quitely ranked No. 10 in the world, the 33-year-old Homa is driving the ball poorly and producing his worst Tee-to-Green stats since 2010. He’s also finished top-10 in just one major over xx starts and not cutting it at Augusta with two missed cuts and two finishes outside the top-40 with zero rounds in the 60’s.

Sunjae Im (+5500): The 26-year-old South Korean finished T-2 at the 2020 Masters in his debut, T16 in 2023 and T-8 in 2022 after opening with a 67 but closing with 75 on Sunday.

Sam Burns (+4500): The 27-year-old joins other honoralbe mentions Aberg, Young, Hatton, Henley, Homa, Theegala and Im shooting for their first major title. The 5-time PGA Tour winner missed the cut in his Masters debut and finished T29 last year shooting 78 on Saturday. He’s never finished top-10 in any major, but Burns enters with four top-10 finishes in January and February this year.

Jason Day (+6000): Day finished top-25 or better in The Masters four straight years from 2016-2019, including T-5 in 2019. He also finished T-2 on debut in 2015 the year he rose to No. 1 in the world. The 36-year-old has not been playing as well as early 2023 when he rose from No. 112 in the world to No. 33 ahead of The Masters. He’s currently ranked No. 22 with a pretty good shot to finish top-20 and outperform these odds.

Corey Connors (+8000): The underrated 32-year-old Canadian has finished top-10 in The Masters in three of his four starts at Augusta.

Denny McCarthy (+12000): The elite putting 31-year-old just finished runner-up in the Valero Texas Open after losing in a playoff to Sahith Theegala. But his 92 total putts were the fewest in a PGA Tour event since 1983. McCarthy has lost strokes on Approach four of his last five events and Off-the-Tee in four of his last six as he makes his Masters debut.

Rickie Fowler (+12000): The 35-year-old found his groove again on Tour last year, and makes his first Masters start since 2020. Fowler finished T11, 2nd and T9 in The Masters from 2017-2019.

Nick Taylor (+25000): The 26-year-old Taylor makes his second Masters start after finishing T29 in the November 2020 Masters. The 35-year-old Canadian won last year’s Canadian Open, and his Putting and Approach stats rank top-20 over his last 24 rounds while winning the Phoenix Open and T12 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

Tiger Woods (+6000): These odds are ridiculously low for the 48-year-old 5-time Masters champion. Same for 3-time Masters champion Phil Mickelson (+6500). Great to have them playing along with 43-year-old 2012 Masters champion Adam Scott (+6000), who will finish ahead of both of them with three top-20’s this year.

Strokes Gained data shows that 7 of the last 9 Masters winners ranked top-6 for the week in SG: Approach. Augusta remains a rewarding second-shot golf course with Around-the-Green performance another key to contending for the green jacket.
my best guess: geoff ogilvy. key note: secrettourpro follows geoff's wife on twitter.
It could be Dustin Johnson then.

Its Senden. He is buddies with Ogilvy. He put that pic of Geoff's ball to throw everyone off. He probably tweets from a drop phone too so as to appear innocent if accosted by a 300 yard bangin' WRXer.

I asked Ian Poulter and a few others on periscope and they don't think it's Ogilvy. It's made to look like its him! It could be anyone really, they wear DNAs though and use ping irons by the look of it. It's best kept a secret anyway because whoever it is actually tweets some interesting stuff and revealing who it is would ruin it, as he himself has said. My theory is that its a few players though, that makes more sense!!

There's already a thread about it.

Quiros? Blixt in a Callaway cap?   or just somebody else trying to throw us off?

Whoever this is is competing in the Paul Lawrie Saltire Matchplay event this week. The photo was taken at Murcar Links in the last 24 hours or so. I know because I'm a member and recognise the corner of the clubhouse on view. I'm also aggrieved as I can't get a game because of these guys.

Quiros is in that event. Senden is at the Quicken Loans, as is Blixt. I don't see Ogilvy listed in the field for either event.

As an avid follower of the European Tour, I believe Secret Tour Pro is on that tour. - Some of his tweets have tagged Eddie Pepperell, Gregory Havret, Denis Pugh, Francesco Molinari and George Coetzee. - Many have mentioned he is Australian and friends with Ogilvy - He played at Chambers Bay - Apparently posts a lot of Taylor Made related photos - Playing in the Paul Lawrie matchplay My bet that it is Marcus Fraser. Is golf vulnerable to a gambling scandal?

'I hear something at least once a week out here'

/content/dam/images/golfdigest/fullset/undercover_pixellated_3.jpg

Editor's note: This article first appeared in The Undercover Newsletter, where we grant anonymity to people in golf who’ve got something to say. Here a current PGA Tour player is interviewed by Senior Writer Joel Beall.

As legalized sports gambling began to become prevalent, my former instructor asked me if I was worried it was going to affect me. I laughed. There are people at my own club who don’t know my PGA Tour status, so no chance the common fan knows me, let alone cares enough about me to bet on me. Golf gambling would be focused solely on the superstars, I thought. I had no idea how wrong I was.

I watch other sports. It feels like every other commercial is an ad for a new sportsbook or online betting app. Same with billboards on the fields. And of course, sports gambling has been in the news recently for the wrong reasons. The translator for baseball’s Shohei Ohtani got popped for illegal gaming in California, and there are allegations that NBA player Jontay Porter participated in a prop bet scheme by tanking his performances. These are serious stories that threaten to undermine the integrity of the games. So you might be wondering, same as my former instructor, is golf vulnerable to a similar controversy?

Golf is different from most sports in that we don’t have a winner and a loser. We have one winner, and many people who are not. To even be in a situation to win is hard, let alone to close the deal. I can’t imagine a pro golfer ever purposefully throwing a tournament if they had a chance to win. Now that only the top 70 players earn their cards for next season, every shot matters more than ever, even for top-30 finishes. I can’t see anyone “throwing” an event.

However, golf could be vulnerable to prop bets. Such as, Player A will beat Player B, or Player A’s over/under is 70.5. If it’s a Sunday and a golfer is out of contention and already has his status secured for next year—I could see that person being in on a fix. I think it’s highly unlikely, but there are a lot of guys out here, many who don’t have the financial security you assume they would, and I’m not going to act like everyone is a choir boy. So, yes, it’s possible.

And I think the PGA Tour knows this, too. The tour got a lot of heat last year when they suspended two Korn Ferry Tour players , Vince India and Jake Staiano, for betting on exhibitions in which they were not playing. From what I heard, a big part of those punishments was to appease government regulators. But that’s above my pay grade. Personally, I think those suspensions were a message to the rest of us: Don’t screw around with sports gambling.

To me, the bigger issue is what we’re dealing with on the course. I know golfers have it easy when it comes to dealing with crowds. We’re not trying to hit a fastball or evade a 350-pound lineman before a stadium rooting for our demise. But all it takes is one idiot to yell something to make things awkward. No matter where you are on the money list, you hear something at least once a week out here, sometimes once a day. The comments are mostly innocuous, things like “Hey, I have money on you today, let’s go!” or “Going to need some more birdies from ya!” but occasionally it goes real south. I had a fan earlier this year tell me I was “Costing him money” after I mucked up a par 5, and a few summers back someone cheered when I missed a putt on a Saturday (clearly, they had the over). One of my friends had a guy jeer him in Detroit last year: “Don’t worry, I bet on Wyndham (Clark), not you.” As mad as that makes us, it’s worse when we have family and friends in the crowd who must listen to it. That’s the part I wish the tour would police more.

But you can’t say anything about this unless (or until) something major happens, otherwise you’re made to feel like a fuddy-duddy. I realize sports gambling isn’t going anywhere. Just about every sports league is viewing the industry as a revenue driver. It’s been three years since the tour started building sportsbooks on its properties . And I’m fine with that. But next time you come to the course, please, keep your bets to yourself.

Arkansas BOC under scrutiny for contract with attorney in litigation against state

Arkansas legislators are raising questions regarding the Arkansas Board of Corrections’...

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KAIT/KARK) - Arkansas legislators are raising questions regarding the Arkansas Board of Corrections’ contract with its attorney who was hired for its litigation against the state.

According to our content partner KARK, the board’s attorney is owed more than $100,000.

Members of the Joint Performance Review Committee claim that the contract between the BOC and the attorney was illegally written and that it goes against the procurement law, so they can’t sign off on it.

In a meeting held on Thursday, BOC members and the Chief Financial Officer for the Department of Corrections were asking how the attorney was hired and the changes he made to the contract.

“We’re trying to shed a light on the fact that there’s no transparency, they’re not following the statutes and procurement process and all these things the legislature has created for the people and to protect the people,” said Senator Ben Gilmore.

The next meeting is scheduled for April 22.

Watson wants unity to return for all of pro golfing world

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Tom Watson only saw unity, conversation and easy laughter among 33 champions at the Masters Club dinner, seven of them now with Saudi-funded LIV Golf. Watson longs for the day golf can feel that way all year long.

Unity is a popular topic at the first major of the year because the PGA Tour has suspended LIV players for defecting to the rival circuit. The only time all the world’s best get together are at the majors, and the Masters is the first chance for that since July.

Watson said he asked Masters Chairman Fred Ridley if he could speak toward the end of the Champions Dinner on Tuesday night.

“I’m looking around the room and I’m seeing just a wonderful experience everybody is having,” Watson, a two-time Masters champion, said Thursday. “They are jovial. They are having a great time. They are laughing. And I said, ‘Ain’t it good to be together again?’”

Watson said the room grew quiet and then it was time to leave.

MORE ON THE RIFT IN PRO GOLF:

 • LIV questions linger as Masters gets started
 • Couples hasn’t budged in his view on LIV Golf
 • Amid golf’s civil war, both sides are in Augusta
 • McIlroy, DeChambeau can agree on one thing

“And in a sense, I hope that the players themselves took that to say, ‘You know, we have to do something,’” Watson said. He paused before repeating, “We have to do something.”

Watson, three-time champion Gary Player and six-time champion Jack Nicklaus were together again on the first tee Thursday morning to hit the honorary tee shot, which was delayed by overnight rain.

They have combined to win 35 majors — Nicklaus and Player own the career Grand Slam — and are major figures in golf who are among those saddened by the split in in the game as a result of the arrival of LIV Golf. The circuit lured away major champions with guaranteed Saudi riches.

But the Masters Club is a time for celebration. It was said to be like that a year ago with no difference this time around. Most of stories were about Seve Ballesteros because the defending Masters champion is also a Spaniard, Jon Rahm.

There is no indication the two tours are about to come together, even as t he PGA Tour negotiates with the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia — the money behind LIV — as a minority investor in the new commercial enterprise.

Among the obstacles for unification is a path back to the PGA Tour for LIV players, assuming they all want to return.

“The best outcome is the best players play against each other all the time,” said Nicklaus, who has a stake in golf with his Memorial Tournament.

He said he has spoken with PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and was told the tour was doing fine.

“If Jay thinks we’re doing fine, we’ll get there. I think we’ll get there,” Nicklaus said. “And I certainly hope that happens, the sooner the better.”

Player believes any solution has to include paying players who stayed loyal to the tour.

“You’ve got to get together and come to a solution. If you cannot — it’s not good,” he said. “The public don’t like it, and we as professionals don’t like it, either.”

Listening to the news conference from the front row was former PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem, now an Augusta National member. He retired before the Saudis got involved in golf and has stayed relatively quiet, not willing to offer an opinion.

Finchem was in his first year as commissioner in 1994 when he quickly shot down Greg Norman’s effort to start a world tour. He said in 2010 he could foresee a world tour in the future without knowing what shape it could take.

Rory McIlroy has been among those suggesting a series of tournaments around the world for the top players, and that perhaps any solution with LIV could include that.

Finchem isn’t so sure the fractured landscape will yield any form of a world tour.

“Golf is not much different than it was 10 years ago and it won’t be much different 10 years from now,” Finchem said. “They shouldn’t muck around with it.”

About the only thing everyone can agree on is that having players scattered among different tours and only competing against other four times a year isn’t helping the sport.

“We all know it’s a difficult situation for professional golf right now,” Watson said. “The players really kind of have control, I think, in a sense. What do they want to do? We’ll see where it goes. We don’t have the information or the answers. I don’t think the PGA Tour or the LIV tour really have an answer right now.

“But I think in this room, I know the three of us want to get together,” he said. “We want to get together like we were at that (Masters) Champions Dinner — happy, the best players playing against each other. That’s what we want in professional golf. And right now, we don’t have it.”

Top Democrats won't join calls for Justice Sotomayor to retire, but they still fear a Ruth Bader Ginsburg repeat

WASHINGTON — Democratic senators are not joining calls on the left for liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor to retire . But for the first time, they’re publicly expressing an unease that history could repeat itself after Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s refusal to step down in 2014 ended in the Supreme Court lurching sharply to the right.

Ginsburg, then 81 and a cancer survivor, could have retired and been replaced by a Democratic appointee when President Barack Obama was in office and his party controlled 55 Senate seats. She rejected the calls — and died in September 2020, allowing then-President Donald Trump to replace her.

It was a history-making moment: Ginsburg’s successor, Justice Amy Coney Barrett, gave rise to a 6-3 conservative majority . Barrett went on to cast a deciding vote to overturn the landmark Roe v. Wade abortion rights ruling less than two years later.

With that humbling history in mind, some liberal commentators say Sotomayor — who is 69, a lifelong diabetic and the oldest member of the court’s liberal wing — should retire while Joe Biden is president and Democrats control the Senate, echoing similar calls directed at Ginsburg a decade ago that went unheeded.

Democratic senators who serve on the Judiciary Committee remain haunted by the Ginsburg precedent. None are publicly calling on Sotomayor to step down, but they say they hope it doesn’t happen again and create a 7-2 conservative majority.

“I’m very respectful of Justice Sotomayor. I have great admiration for her. But I think she really has to weigh the competing factors,” said Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn. “We should learn a lesson. And it’s not like there’s any mystery here about what the lesson should be. The old saying — graveyards are full of indispensable people, ourselves in this body included.”

Blumenthal emphasized that Sotomayor is “a highly accomplished and, obviously, fully functioning justice right now.” He added that “justices have to make their personal decisions about their health, and their level of energy, but also to keep in mind the larger national and public interest in making sure that the court looks and thinks like America.”

Senator: Ginsburg 'might have rethought' it

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, of Rhode Island, the No. 2 Democrat on the committee, said he hasn’t given much thought to Sotomayor’s future and is “not joining any calls” for her to leave the court.

But he warned that if the six-member Republican majority were to grow, it would further empower the court's “extremist wing.” Occasionally, he said, a couple of conservative justices “hold themselves back” and contain the scope of the court’s rulings.

“Run it to 7-2 and you go from a captured court to a full MAGA court,” Whitehouse said in an interview. “Certainly I think if Justice Ginsburg had it to do over again, she might have rethought her confidence in her own health.”

But Sen. Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, who also sits on the Judiciary Committee, said she’s “not going to be talking about anybody choosing to retire” when asked about Sotomayor.

Others are less shy about pointedly calling on Sotomayor to vacate her seat. There has been a flurry of op-eds on the issue and some law professors and legal advocacy groups have similarly weighed in.

“This isn’t personal. This isn’t about one individual justice," said Molly Coleman, executive director of the progressive People’s Parity Project. "It’s nothing to do with what an incredible legal talent Justice Sotomayor is. It’s about what’s in the best interests of the country moving forward.”

Asked about the liberals calling on Sotomayor to retire, White House spokesman Andrew Bates said: “President Biden believes that decisions to retire from the Supreme Court should be made by the justices themselves and no one else.”

To some liberals, the reluctance of elected officials to call on Sotomayor to step aside is confounding.

“All the people in the liberal legal community are putting hurting Sonia’s feelings ahead of the prospect of a 7-2 court. Insane,” said one Democrat who has worked on judicial nominations and is prohibited from speaking publicly about the justices. “So they don’t say anything about her retiring when they all think she should.”

Sotomayor hasn't signaled any plans to go

The calls involving Sotomayor come at a perilous moment for Democrats, as polls show Biden is far from certain to beat Trump in their rematch. The party currently controls 51 Senate seats, but faces a daunting challenge to keep the majority, defending three seats in the red states of West Virginia, Montana and Ohio and five more in purple states in November's elections. Even if Biden wins re-election, losing the Senate would give Republicans an effective veto over liberal nominees.

There are obvious differences between the Ginsburg and Sotomayor situations. In 2014, Ginsburg was 12 years older than Sotomayor is now. Ginsburg, in 2014, had served on the court for 21 years. Sotomayor will reach her 15-year milestone in August.

There are no signs that Sotomayor has any plans to step down. She remains an active questioner during Supreme Court arguments. Some commentators, however, seized on recent remarks made during an appearance in California , when she said she was “tired” and working harder than ever.

“And to be almost 70 years old, this wasn’t what I expected,” she said, according to Bloomberg Law.

Her health has also been subject to scrutiny, mostly because of her diabetes.

Sotomayor, via a court spokeswoman, did not respond to a request for comment.

Even some of those who urged Ginsburg to step down a decade ago are holding fire on Sotomayor, including Erwin Chemerinsky, an influential liberal law professor who is the dean of the University of California Berkeley School of Law.

In 2014, Chemerinsky wrote a much-discussed article saying that Ginsburg’s refusal to step down “could end up hurting her legal legacy on the court.”

Now, citing Sotomayor’s age, Chemerinsky sees no such urgency.

“I think that is a significant difference and do not see a basis for calling for Justice Sotomayor to retire at this time,” he said in an email.

While the long-term impact could be huge, Sotomayor's choice is not as immediately pivotal. Even if she leaves this year and is replaced by a Democratic nominee, it would merely shore up a liberal minority that lacks the votes to move the court to the left without the buy-in of at least two conservative colleagues.

'Life is pretty good for a retired justice'

Melissa Murray, a professor at New York University School of Law and a former Sotomayor law clerk, said the justice remains “very robust” and has given no indications of retiring.

“She’s never said anything to me. She’s never said anything publicly,” she added.

That is in stark contrast to Ginsburg, who in 2014 responded to the resignation calls with defiance.

“So tell me who the president could have nominated this spring that you would rather see on the court than me?” she told Reuters .

Blumenthal said that justices shouldn’t fear retirement.

“Life is pretty good for a retired justice,” he said. “They continue to sit on cases, they get paid on par with what they’ve received before. She’s a highly respected intellect and figure with a great record of accomplishments. So she would have a lot of opportunities for continued public service.”

On the other side of the aisle, 90-year-old Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, a former chairman of the Judiciary Committee, said he wouldn’t call on a justice to retire. He will be 95 when his current Senate term ends.

“Everybody’s got to make that personal decision,” Grassley said. “And I wouldn’t comment on it for somebody else, because that’s their decision. Just like it’s my decision to run for re-election.”
