Going on a walking tour is a great way to get to know a new city and gain some insider knowledge about the area. Wild Walkers offers daily walking tours of Lisbon to acclimate tourists to the city and provide them with insider knowledge of their surroundings. The tour has no set price; you just pay what you want at the end of the tour. I took the Wild Walkers' free walking tour on my second day in Lisbon. My tour was led by Nicole, a knowledgeable tour guide with the gift for gab. Nicole led the group on a trek around Lisbon, making frequent stops to point out important landmarks and to provide the group with a history lesson. Nicole was very knowledgeable about Lisbon; however, she often went on ad nauseam about a topic which caused the tour to drag. Highlights of the tour included visiting a miradouro to enjoy a great view of the city, taking a stroll along the Ribeira das Naus, and learning about the Cais do Sodré area. Nicole offered useful tips on things to do in Lisbon and Sintra and tourist traps to avoid. The tour lasted three hours (a half hour longer than the normal time) and took us around the Baixa, Chiado, and Bairro Alto neighborhoods. I got a solid introduction to Lisbon and more history than I'll ever remember.

My purse with all my items went missing. Haven't received a response from the coordinators of the pub crawl.

We had the most informative and quirky tour from our wonderful guide Sophia. She not only walked us through popular squares, but also unique places like the Doll Hospital. She also gave us a great introduction to Portuguese history and culture like the Fado. It was time well spent. We highly recommend it.

wild walkers tour lisbon

To truly enjoy your Lisbon walking tour, there are a couple of things that you need to take into consideration. The first is understanding your tour’s details: the key destinations, notable sights, and its overall duration. Ensure that it aligns well with your budget and you’ve set clear expectations for what you wish to explore and learn.

Next, Lisbon is known as the city of seven hills, which can be a problem, especially if you have young children or have specific mobility limitations. In these cases, it would be best to book a Lisbon tuk-tuk tour.

Remember to dress accordingly. Comfortable shoes are a non-negotiable regardless of the season. In the wintertime, bring warm clothes and rain protection; in the summer, protection is key, including sunglasses, sun protection, and a hat.

Lastly, the season can influence your tour experience. Summer often means larger groups, potentially making private tours a more appealing choice for some . Regardless of the specifics, remember to immerse yourself in the moment and, most importantly, enjoy every step.
