– 1 hour tour option –

The one-hour tour is offered a ride on buggies to Laguna Verde. Upon reaching the lagoon you will enjoy a moment of stay to watch the beautiful surrounding countryside and the lagoon itself. Finally, in buggies you will return where the adventure starts.

– 2 hours tour option –

Visit to “Laguna Verde” and “Laguna de las Ninfas”. The first stop of this adventure is the Laguna de las Ninfas where you can appreciate the beautiful landscape around the lagoon that characterizes the Ruta de las Flores. It is a place with abundant vegetation and a pleasant climate. Then the second destination is the Laguna Verde inhabited by numerous water plants and surrounded by lush vegetation. It is a lake whose waters are green and that is encircled by a very famous path at The Flowers Route. Finally back to the village of Apaneca where the adventure began.

I booked the package that includes all the activities for a week, airport hotel airport transfer, and it was the best experience ever. The driver airport hotel airport Rodrigo was great, waited for us outside the door, picked us up on time the day of the departure, great conversation, profesional, and polite. The first three days we were assigned to Alfredo who is an awesome guide and human being, picked us up on time, took us to the tours, and gave us suggestions of places to eat like the locals where the food was amazing and not with tourist prices, even on a day that he wasn’t with us he helped me sort stuff out. The experience we had was great, El Salvador is a beautiful country, extremely safe, with very nice and polite people, and will definitely go back and recommend to others to visit. He was knowledgeable about so many things - especially the history of El Salvador. He took his time and made us feel like he was enjoying himself throughout the day and not just working. After hotel pickup in San Salvador by private vehicle, enjoy a 90-minute drive into the Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountain range. Begin your dune buggy tour in Apaneca, a town of 8,500 people that boasts narrow streets and colorful houses. Hop in your dune buggy and follow the leader in the first buggy (or the guide, if you upgrade to a guided excursion). Make your way through the lush landscape to Laguna Verde, a gorgeous lagoon with a glassy surface that cleanly reflects the verdant surroundings. Spend about 15 minutes here and take some time to stroll around the lagoon. The next part of the 2.5-hour adventure is the most scenic. Reach the Laguna de las Ninfas, the Lagoon of the Nymphs, named for the abundant water lilies floating on this lagoon, which is set in a volcanic crater. On the way back to Apaneca, ride along the Ruta de las Flores, or Flowers Route, a popular road that stretches between towns. Its also nicknamed the coffee road thanks to the coffee farms and ample amount of coffee beans for sale in nearby towns. Your tour ends with return to your hotel by private vehicle unless you've selected the optional full-day tour (see Itinerary for more details).

i opted for the extened trip which was not worth it we did not get even 2 hours of buggy time, they just dragged out the day the buggies were very old / knackered and kept breaking down not an enjoyable experience certainly not worth the money

Very fun trip. Only thing was that you don't get that much mud action. We actually laughed when the tour guide took us to this lake and did one circular turn in this small mud pit and that was it. Granted, we got plenty plenty dirty since my boyfriend didn't go through it fast enough so we got stuck, but that was the only part with mud that we went through. The tour guide was very nice. The tour was a couple hours long but there was really nothing super impressive that we did or saw. Also, they only give you one dune buggy per couple. Keep that in mind in case you travel with someone else and think you will have your ow dune buggy to drive.

On this tour, we drove ATVs, not dune buggies. Everyone was put in pairs. It would have been much more fun if everyone had their own vehicle. We were never told when we were halfway through the course so we could change positions. As a result, I only got 15 mins. It is truly boring to be in the passenger spot. As for the Ruta de las Flores, we took this tour 2 yrs ago and it was much better with Eduardo. During this trip, we were not taken to admire the murals. We went by 2 streets quickly and paused for a picture at the opening of a door mural. Our guide Irving was in a hurry. We didn't get lunch until 3pm. Apinaca and Ataco have fantastic artisan work but we didn't get to stop to admire/buy any.

My guide Irving was an absolutely amazing guide. He had incredibly in depth knowledge of everything we discussed and was able to answer all the questions I ask and I ask a lot of them. I had a great time and the flower route was gorgeous. No need to talk about the dune buggys, if you've ever driven one, you know they are fun.

The tour was an absolute blast! It was one of the highlights of our trip to El Salvador. It is definitely worth going to both lagoons.

We were unable to take the dune buggy tour because my husband sustained an injury in Costa Rica but we did view the cities on the Flowers tour. They are soooooo beautiful! Our guide, Eduardo was very informativie. Great tour!
