Start the Holidays with Dazzling Anheuser-Busch Brewery Lights

Make plans to go see a million twinkle lights sparkling on the historic brick buildings of the Anheuser-Busch Brewery.

This is a family friendly, outdoor event on the home campus of Anheuser-Busch in Soulard. It has everything you need to kick off a St. Louis Christmas: holiday cheer, Clydesdales, s’mores, games for the kids, beer for the grown ups and tons of fun.

anheuser-busch campus with twinkle lights

The bad news? There’s a price for admission in 2023 and tickets are limited to keep crowds reasonable, so you really need to make an RSVP online now.

Psst: Want to know where the other good drive through shows are this year? I’ve got a list of a dozen other places to see lights in St. Louis!

When Are the Brewery Lights Open?

Anheuser-Busch will open the gates every weekend from Thanksgiving to the end of December 2023.

They will NOT be open on Christmas Eve, Christmas or New Years Eve.

You can buy timed tickets for Brewery Lights, with slots being offered at 5pm, 6pm and 7pm. You can stay as long as you like, the event closes at 10pm.

Free Driving Tour in 2023

If you just want to see the lights, you can drive through the campus Mon-Tues-Wed. Guests will enter off of Arsenal Street, and will drive their vehicles up and down Pestalozzi Street. You can drive through from 5 to 10pm.

It’s not as fun as the walk through light display, but if you’re in the neighborhood, you ought to stop.

The website doesn’t mention this is an option, but I’ve asked the Brewery about it and it’s back on!

brewery lights st louis

Price: $12 for adults, $5 for minors, Free for kids under 5

For a little extra you can buy s’more kits, craft beer, toasted rav & pretzels.

New this year (and INCLUDED in admission) are guided Brew House tours and a self-guided tour of the Old Lyon Schoolhouse Museum.

Wait, what about Parking?

Parking hasn’t been a problem for us, there’s plenty of space to park on the brewery lots. AB security is also highly visible. Parking is still free, and there’s NO reserved spots for VIP packages. Its all first come, first served.

So what’s this Tour like?

They’ve added a huge 50 foot digital holiday tree and an all new light show that lasts 10 minutes! The show is really cool with speakers hidden inside the tree and street decorations. The nearby trees and some of the buildings blink along with the music. Plus, there’s a parade each night at 7:30 (which includes the Clydesdales).

The kid zone has been expanded and now features a live DJ playing family friendly tunes for the little ones.

Brewery Lights in St. Louis tunnel

It’s a self-guided tour, unlike a daytime visit to the brewery.

This is no long a beer ‘sampling’ event, but everyone over 21 will be treated to a full size (16oz!) beer. To avoid lines inside the event, they are checking IDs and handing out complementary beer in the visitor center parking lot, BEFORE entering the lobby and checking your ticket.

Check out Lager Landing for photo ops, picnic tables and a nice bathroom. Public fire pits are located by the big digital tree for warming up and roasting s’mores.

And yes, the gift shop is open.

holiday lights

Naturally, you’re free to purchase more beer if you like. The indoor bar is open and the beer garden is tented (and heated!) with another bar and plenty of seating. You could also purchase s’more kits at the bar if you forgot to add one when you made your reservation.

If you’re hungry for more, the Biergarten is selling toasted rav & pretzels and more from 5pm to 8pm.

Tram and Trains

The tram is still not running this year, but honestly, we haven’t seen it since 2018. It’s a short walk, so this really isn’t a big deal.

The kiddie train ride down by the bottling building is getting a new route and this year goes through a 40 foot tall snowman. The cars are big enough to accommodate grown ups if you want to ride along too.

Clydesdale Photos

The historic Clydesdale stable is open for a meet and greet with one of the horses. Bring your own camera, or add a professional pic for $10.

No Ice Skating this Year

Brewery Lights Ticket Package $12

RSVP your winter wonderland tour and you’ll get entry, free parking and one 16oz beer for those over 21. There are public fire pits available to warm up or roast that s’more kit

Minors under 21 are $5 and kids under 6 are free.

Extras: Souvenir Photo with a Clydesdale is $12, S’more kits are $8 each.

Fire Pit Fun Package

But wait! THERE’S MORE! You can book a private fire pit for a group of up to 8 people. (If you have more than 8, you can book additional fire pits.) They’re not cheap at $450 so you’ll want to grab some friends, but you get WAY more than just a cozy haybale of your own.

This year the Fire Pit package comes with access to a heated hospitality tent & private bathrooms, complimentary beer and soft drinks for the whole night, a buffet, s’more kits and souvenir cups.

Anheuser-Busch Brewery Lights

Tour the Anheuser-Busch Brewery Lights and Beer Museum

by Family Attractions Card in Family Fun , Holiday Light Displays , Tours category

This holiday season, tour the Anheuser-Busch Brewery Lights and Beer Museum in St. Louis!

Special thanks to anheuser-busch brewery tour guides mallori green and betsy economon who contributed their knowledge and expertise to the following guest blog: .

Of all of the things to see and do in St. Louis, touring the Anheuser-Busch Brewery Lights and Beer Museum are at the top of the list! Not only will you be taken back to the mid-1800s through the ground’s Romanesque revival style architecture, but you’ll see the modern day business excellence that a 19-billion-dollar company produces for its worldwide consumers.

There are many different tour options depending on what aspect of the Brewery you are interested in!

The brewery experience begins at 1200 Lynch Street , where you will be greeted by a guest service specialist. Each team member is well versed on what there is to offer each guest, and gives in-depth information about what each tour experience will include.

One of the tour options is the complimentary brewery tour , which is, you guessed it, free to everyone ! On this tour, you will hear a brief background history about our company’s founders, Eberhardt Anheuser and Adolphus Busch, check out the historic stables, the Beechwood aging cellars, and the brew house. You will also receive two free samples along the way!

Interested in history and architecture? The Beer Museum tour is for you!

The Beer Museum tour is a $15 option led by a knowledgeable tour guide who explains the history of the company, talks about the architecture of the complex, as well as visits the Beer Museum in the historic Old Lyon Schoolhouse. This tour will check out the three national historic landmarks on the brewery grounds; the historic stables, the brew house, and finally, the Old Lyon Schoolhouse.

The first stop on the beer museum tour, always a crowd favorite, are the historic stables. Hang out with the world famous Budweiser Clydesdales and check out the stable’s beautiful architecture. 51% of the building, built in 1891, is still original! These stables aren’t like any stables you have ever seen. The Budweiser Clydesdales are living in style!

After checking out the Clydesdales, you’ll head down to the historic brew house, built in 1891. Adolphus Busch spared no expense on his brew house: it features beautiful tile work, iron work, and hop-vine chandeliers that will blow you away. Stepping into this brew house immediately transports you back to 1891 when all of the brewing was done by hand.

Finally, visit to the Old Lyon Schoolhouse. This building is the oldest building on the campus, and is the third national historic landmark on the tour. Built in 1868, the building served as a public schoolhouse for the city of St. Louis. Today, it serves as the Anheuser-Busch Brewery Beer Museum. With six different galleries, covering everything from company advertising to honoring the brew masters, this museum can answer any questions that you might have.

In the schoolhouse, you will receive a sample of Budweiser in a room meant to replicate an 1800’s tavern. You will also get to take home a souvenir sample glass. Finally, once you have checked out the museum, head back up to the tour center to enjoy a complementary full size sample of Budweiser, Bud Light, Shocktop, or Stella Artois Cidre.

There is so much to do at the Anheuser-Busch Brewery!

If you don’t have any interest in taking a tour, there are many other things you can do at the brewery! The Biergarten is a full service restaurant that is located on the brewery grounds serving your typical bar-food menu. There are also 20+ different beers on tap for you to try! Inside the tour center, there is also a gift shop where you can purchase all of your Budweiser memorabilia.

Save 15% on your food purchase at The Biergarten or your merchandise purchase in the Gift Shop

During the holidays, check out the anheuser-busch brewery lights.

Anheuser-Busch Brewery Lights tour

Brewery Lights & Tour

I brought my son to see the Brewery Lights & Tour. The weather wasn't great, but the lights and decorations were still really cool. The tour was interesting, even for a teenager. My son loves factory tours, and this one did not disappoint. Meeting a Clydesdale may have been the highlight though.

anheuser busch lights tour

This was a spur of the moment idea my husband and I had. The last time we were here we did the free tour. This time we did the Bud Light Tour (it was 3:30 pm and the tour got underway at 4 pm). It only cost $10/person and it includes a tour of the facility, history of how Bud Light is made, a sample of Bud Light from the finishing containers, 2 samples from the bar and two pint glasses to take home. Our tour guide Skylar made the tour fun and enjoyable. She showed us how to pour the perfect beer and she kept the tour moving since it was cold outside. We also went down to the stables where the Clydesdale horses were.

I hadn't planned to stop here but was driving by. Close to airport. I think of myself as a bit of a beer snob, but was tired from traveling and decided to stop in. The restaurant was good. I sat at the bar, perused the taps, tasted several, and ordered some grub. Hit the spot. I decided to do the Clydesdale tour. I love horses, had seen them in St Louis as a child. The hook for me was the opportunity to get my picture taken with one. Whoo hoo! I almost missed it because they forgot to tell me I needed to drive down the road a bit to the training facility. But I caught up and the tour was nice. Little history, lots of horse looking, and a take home glass. Nice! It had a picture of the horses and carriage on it. The tour guide gal was informative. When I got back to the overpriced goods store, the ladies there were so nice. They took good care of me. Definitely customer service focused. They apologized for the minor snafu and gave me a discount on the brewery tour. This actually turned out to be better than expected. But long! We were shown the large vats, the process explained, watched bottles on the rollers go by, and even got to drink the freshest beer made. Way cool. We ended in a bar type area where we could get a beer on the house, and were given a Budweiser glass. There was an older European gentleman (Switzerland) on my tour that was one of the founding brew engineers. It was neat to see his reactions. On the walk back I saw a hawk in a tree, Cool. Overall, I really enjoyed this experience. I would definitely recommend it. There were some unique batches that had been made that I got to taste and was impressed.

anheuser busch lights tour

Enjoyed the tour with the Clydesdales Sorry to see them head back to St Louis. Will be back for the brew tour another day.

anheuser busch lights tour

We have done the tours before but it had been 10 years so we did it again! How can you beat free beer and seeing such a cool American icon place? Plus, you get to see the famous Clydesdales. We did the beer tour and just really hung out for awhile shopping and people watching!

Brewery Tour and tasting, Clydesdale Stables, cool gift shop. Then there's the Biergarten with several varieties of Budweiser family beer on tap and a good appetizer and snack menu. Plenty of free parking. A wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

After Furor, Anheuser-Busch Hopes Next Bud Light Commercial Goes Down Smooth

Anheuser-Busch InBev is getting ready to pour cold beer on a brewing controversy.

After getting tangled in the nation’s culture wars with a Bud Light social-media promotion that included transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney — a move that unexpectedly resulted in boycotts, diminished sales and a decision to put on leave two marketing executives who oversaw the effort — the company hopes to move on with a new ad campaign that focuses on the many summer activities that present an appropriate moment for the beer, one of the best-known beverages in the United States. “Good Times,” the sunny 1978 hit by the dance-music group Chic, plays throughout.

“We want to show up in all relevant occasions in summer — backyard barbecues, stadiums and sports venues,” says Todd Allen, an Anheuser-Busch veteran who was recently named vice president of Bud Light, in an interview. “That’s what counts and that’s what we are focused on.”

In addition to a broad ad campaign that Allen says will show up on primetime broadcast TV, cable, and sports programming, Anheuser-Busch plans to tap NFL players and country music stars to pitch Bud Light to the masses. Tyler Braden, Seaforth and others will take part in a Bud Light Backyard Tour that brings musicians to intimate locations. And NFL athletes Travis Kelce, George Kittle and Dak Prescott will star in other ads ahead of the the football league’s 2023-2024 season. What’s more, Anheuser-Busch will give away $10,000 each week to a fan; give consumers a chance to win $100 toward their bar tab; and offer rebates over July 4th weekend.

Anheuser-Busch has “more than tripled our already weighty national media investment” behind Bud Light, Allen says. The brewing company spent approximately $60.1 million across traditional media for Bud Light in 2022, according to Vivvix, a tracker of ad spend, and has already spent nearly $40.8 million behind the product in the first quarter of 2023.

There’s good reason for the brewing titan to pour more out. Bud Light and Budweiser have long sought to capture attention with inspirational commercials featuring the company’s signature Clydesdale horses and sophomoric humor that tickles funny bones with anthropomorphic frogs and “Real Men of Genius.” But the company has found itself at the center of a cultural maelstrom in recent weeks, with the Mulvaney connection drawing the ire of some conservative segments of its consumer base. The musician Kid Rock posted a video on Twitter in which he shot cases of Bud Light with a gun.

Anheuser-Busch has been trying to expand customers for Bud Light, not divide them. Earlier this year, the first female executive placed in charge of marketing for the brand vowed to get younger consumers — who now have a raft of alcohol choices that include hard seltzers and spirits — to take interest. “We have to bring in new drinkers. That is the name of the game,” Alissa Heinerscheid told Variety in February . She unveiled a Super Bowl commercial that tamped down some of the frat-boy humor for which Bud Light has long been known and instead featured Miles and Keleigh Teller having a drink while being stuck on hold during a phone call. The emphasis was on portraying Bud Light as an easy-to-drink beer — one of the original sales points behind the brew when it was introduced in 1982.

By April, however, scrutiny was growing. The company sent personalized cans of Bud Light were sent to various influencers, including Mulvaney. Boycotts typically fizzle out, but by the second week of May,   sales volume for Bud Light was off more than 28% compared with the same period last year in U.S. retail stores, according to an analysis of Nielsen data by Bump Williams, an industry consultant. Heinerscheid was placed on leave, along with a superior.

Bud Light’s Allen says sales have begun to stabilize, with “positive momentum” in states making up 47% of the beverage’s sales volume.

A number of prominent marketers have generated pushback recently by reaching out to new demographics, only to find older ones upset by their efforts. Target and Kohl’s spurred calls for boycotts after offering Pride Month-themed clothing. To be sure, no corporation sets out to offend its customers. But more American marketers are refining their pitches as the nation’s demographics shift, and their new promotions are often seized upon by a polarized U.S. populace. Simply put, there are more people of color and a bigger LGBTQ population in the U.S., and companies are eager to cultivate ties to them — and their wallets . Coca-Cola in 2014 ran a commercial that featured “America the Beautiful” sung in a variety of different languages. One year prior, General Mills’ Cheerios ran a spot featuring a Caucasian mother, a Black father and their daughter. Both commercials spurred backlash via social media.

Anheuser-Busch executives seemed caught off guard by the recent furor. “We never intended to be part of a discussion that divides people,” said a statement issued by Brendan Whitworth, the executive who oversees Anheuser-Busch InBev’s North American business. “We are in the business of bringing people together over a beer.” The new Bud Light ad features both men and women, much like the recent Super Bowl commercial.

Now, the hope is to get back to the mission at hand: portraying Bud Light as a beer for many occasions. “What I have learned in the past six or seven weeks is that we have deeply passionate fans that love and care about this brand. and for the last 40 years, we have been the beer of easy enjoyment,” says Allen. “That’s what people expect from us and that’s what we are going to give them.”
