DIY, apart from possibly a walking tour, as #1.

Any sites that need some explanation/ interpretation will have their own in-house guide or audio guide. Probably included in the ticket price, maybe as an optional extra.

Stonehenge and Bath in a day isn’t so easy to do on your own but you can do on your own by public transport:

Stonehenge and Salisbury

Depends on how much you want to see Stonehenge. Just check the itinerary timings of the tour as sometimes you don’t spend enough time in one of the places.

From outside Salisbury station there is a tour bus that takes you to Stonehenge, entrance included, Old Sarum and around Salisbury, see

https://www.thestonehengetour.info/

First Bath Spa station it's Great Western Railways from Paddington station , see

https://www.gwr.com/

First class isn't worth the extra cost on these short journeys unless it is cheaper or a few pounds extra compared with the standard class ticket price.

Advance tickets are cheaper but restricted to the train time booked, if you want flexibility then book off peak or anytime return tickets.

I wouldn't try to do both places on the same day as they have much to offer.

I got a copy of a fairly recent guidebook from the local library (in my case, it was Rick Steves because I like the layout of his books, but there are many other options.). I made a list of the sights/attractions that interested me and then, because so much has changed recently, I went onto the website for each attraction to find open hours/dates, current admission fees, if any, and any Covid restrictions. (And whatever restrictions they have or don’t have now could change drastically by September, so re-check your research closer to tour departure.)

I also did a lot of research on the various transportation websites to find the best options for traveling to our 2 day trip sites — Greenwich and Cambridge. I discovered that ticket prices for the train to Cambridge varied widely by the station from which you chose to travel. We also found it useful to purchase our train tickets from an actual agent at a ticket office because he found a better deal for us (group rate) than I saw online or at the ticket kiosk.

I’ve been to Stonehenge and Bath on my own and I liked doing it that way, but with your limited time, an organized tour might be the best option.

Finally, I have enjoyed doing London Walks for over 20 years. In the past, you could just show up and pay for a tour. Now, they ask you to pre-book so that they can keep the people at a certain number. (You still don’t pay until you show up.) For a day trip tour with London Walks, if those resume, you’ll definitely need to pre-book.

Look for a British gude book rather than Rick Steves - Dorling Kindersley, Rough Guide, Lonely Planet etc,

Patty, most of what you might like to see is in a fairly small area.

You could divide it into 2 or 3 to make it more relaxing. You could walj around. Not so far, plenty of nice spots to sit and rest. Get a coffee.

Of if you prefer wizzing from one attraction to another use a bus or the tube.

A map online will help you plan..

Very easy to plan with a map

Do it yourself and you will be fine. There is no need at all to splash out money on a guide.

If you're looking for the best things to do in London but unsure where to begin, consider a guided tour of the city. Many sightseeing excursions cover the highlights (think Buckingham Palace and Tower Bridge), while other London tours focus on Harry Potter, Jack the Ripper and day trips to Stonehenge. Read on to discover a variety of well-rated tours in London.

Secret Food Tours – London Bridge

Price: Adults from 79 pounds (about $100); kids from 69 pounds (about $88) Duration: 3 to 3.5 hours

British food often gets a bad reputation, but this tour will change your mind. You'll visit seven different eateries, sampling everything from sausage rolls to sticky toffee pudding.

The tour begins at bustling Borough Market, where you'll snack on a bacon and egg bap (the U.K. version of a breakfast sandwich) as your guide tells you about the history of the market, as well as an overview of the city's history and culture. Other stops include a historic pub for a cheese tasting paired with English cider. And – as is standard on a Secret Food Tour – there will be a secret dish offered somewhere along the way. As you eat your way through London, you'll also enjoy great views of the city skyline, London Bridge and Tower Bridge. Past participants appreciate the quantity and quality of food provided, as well as the entertaining guides.

Tours depart several times a day between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Secret Food Tours also offers tours of the Shoreditch district, among other areas.

Plus, they say it's a great value for the money.

Tours are offered daily from late March through October at 3 p.m. Tour prices include bikes, helmets and rain ponchos. Children 9 and younger are not permitted on the tour, and groups are capped at 12 participants. For a more traditional tour of London, consider the company's Grand London Bike Tour.

Liquid History Tours – Drink London Tour

Price: From 25 pounds (about $32) Duration: 3 to 4 hours

If the idea of walking – and drinking – in the footsteps of literary luminaries like Shakespeare and Dickens appeals, this is the tour for you. On the Drink London Tour, you'll walk along the "Street of Shame" (Fleet Street) for approximately 2 miles and stop in at least four historic pubs, some centuries old. You'll stroll by St. Paul's Cathedral, peek into secluded courtyards and listen to tales about Sweeney Todd. Travelers love the stories the guides share just as much as they enjoy drinking the local brews.

Note that the cost of drinks is not included, and reservations are required for this tour. Participants must be at least 18 years old. If you're traveling with a group, consider one of Liquid History Tours' private excursions.

The Ghost Bus Tours

Price: Adults from 25 pounds (about $32); kids from 17 pounds (about $22) Duration: 75 minutes

Ride a vintage double-decker bus for a spooky peek into London's lesser-known history with Ghost Bus Tours. Mixing horror with a fair bit of comedy – an aspect reviewers love – the actors-turned-guides describe the haunted history of top attractions, such as the Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey, among other famous landmarks. Both visitors and locals value the obscure stories guides share.

Tours last approximately 75 minutes and run several times each evening, though departure times vary by day.

Your tour guide will offer commentary and give you plenty of time to stop and take photos. Children need to be at least 10 years old and stable riders to participate.

25 Best Things To Do In London (England)

Attracting 27 million visitors every year, London is the most visited city in Europe. It’s no surprise that London is top of so many people’s travel plans: the city was founded by the Romans and has thrived over the centuries.

Today, London is one of the most diverse cities in the world, with a rich history and some of the most outstanding culture on the planet.

The City of London is the ancient center of London but is actually the smallest city in England . The London that we’re familiar with covers a much wider metropolitan area and is home to almost 9 million people.

Split into the vibrant and distinctive areas of North, West, South and East London – as well as the commercial and tourist hub of Central London – every district has its own recognizable neighborhoods. There is always something to see and do in London. With some of the world’s best art, entertainment, shopping, dining, and history, it’s impossible to be bored in London.

Let’s explore the best things to do in London :

1. Hyde Park

Hyde Park, London

Hyde Park is possibly the most famous park in London, and it is one of the largest. The park has historical significance, having hosted a number of demonstrations and protests including protests by the Suffragettes.

The park’s famous Speaker’s Corner is still occupied by debates, protests, and performance artists every week. The park is home to several memorial features, as well as two bodies of water, the most famous being the Serpentine. Here you can go paddle-boating, see a number of swans, and take in a breath of fresh air in the center of the city. A must-visit.

2. Westminster

Westminster Abbey

Westminster is considered the political hub of London and is home to the Houses of Parliament and the world-famous Big Ben. Big Ben is the name of the bell housed within the iconic clock tower, and it still chimes every hour.

You can also find Westminster Abbey here, which is open to the public most days. Whilst visiting these landmarks, be sure to rest your feet in Parliament Square which features statues of important political individuals including Nelson Mandela and Winston Churchill.

Book online : Westminster Abbey Entrance Ticket

Camden, London

Camden is a well-known cultural neighborhood in north London. Known for its alternative culture, the crowds here are filled with goths, punks, rockabillies and tourists alike. Camden has a vibrant body mod community and you will find a number of piercing and tattoo shops in this part of town.

Camden Market is eclectic and diverse, featuring street food from international cuisines, and lots of stalls selling trinkets and unique artwork to take home. Rummage through vintage clothing racks, find a used book to take on your travels, or visit one of the city’s best vegan bakeries at Cookies And Scream.

After your shopping spree, stroll down to Camden Lock to relax by Regent’s Canal or walk along the water all the way to King’s Cross.

4. London Eye

London Eye

A trip to London isn’t complete without a visit to the iconic London Eye. Originally constructed to celebrate the millennium, the Eye is a giant ferris wheel offering gorgeous views across the city. At night, the wheel is lit up in seasonal colors and is the centerpiece of London’s annual New Year’s fireworks display.

You can share one of the spacious pods with other keen visitors, or splurge on a private pod for you and someone special. Team your visit to the Eye with a trip to the adjacent London Aquarium to see aquatic creatures from around the world, including jellyfish, seahorses and crocodiles.

Book online : The London Eye Tickets

Soho, London

Soho has long been known as the base of London’s sex industry. The area is now the most popular nightlife spot although there are still some sex shops dotted here and there, giving Soho a delightfully risqué vibe. Soho is often considered the center of the city’s LGBTQ* community with plenty of gay and lesbian bars to check out after the sun goes down.

In addition to bars and clubs, Soho has a number of theaters, jazz bars and restaurants to explore, making it a cultural hotspot. Its close proximity to Leicester Square means it’s also a great place to go for a few drinks after a play or stage show.

During the day, Soho loses none of its charm. Here you’ll find lots of music shops, small cafes and quaint bakeries. Stop for a coffee and pastry on Old Compton Street for perfect people-watching.

6. Shoreditch

Shoreditch, London

Short answer: Definitely. The extensive grounds that contain the mysteries of 1,000 years of history are overwhelming if you don’t have someone helping you understand it all.

The Tower of London, also just called the Tower for short, has a long history dating back to the 11th century under William the Conqueror. From that time to now, the grounds and buildings have been a fortress, a prison, a palace, an arsenal, a museum, and even a zoo with a bizarre collection of animals. River Thames Cruise

After starting in the famous Trafalgar Square, you’ll head to the River Thames for a river cruise on a large boat that gently glides through the river. It makes a few stops on the way, but you’ll have plenty of time to see London’s modern skyline with St. Paul’s Cathedral standing proud among the skyscrapers. And you get an up-close view of the London Eye, Shakespeare’s Globe Theater, and so much more before disembarking at the Tower.

Tower of London

Now it’s time to step back in time at the Tower where England’s history is deeply entwined. Decisions that affected the path of the empire were made and executed here (literally). You’ll walk the original walls where soldiers fought off invaders, the canal where prisoners were floated in, the bedroom of an ancient king, and much more.

In fact, did you know there’s a supposedly haunted apartment here in the Beefeater’s Quarters? Listen to your guide explain the crazy stories behind it. But what you might really be interested in is the Jewel House. This is where hundreds of years of British crown jewels are found along with many other extravagant items like massive punch bowls and serving platters.

Highlights:

  • Special group entrance to Tower of London
  • Guided tour of the walls, grounds, and many buildings
  • Entry to the Jewel House for the crown jewels
  • Free time to explore the grounds or nearby Tower Bridge

2. Early Entry Tower of London Tour with the Beefeaters

Open the Gates

Few get to experience the chance to see the ancient tradition of opening the gates at the Tower of London, but you can on this tour! The Yeoman Warders, affectionately known as Beefeaters, make your exclusive visit fun and educational as they entertain you while still completing their official duties.

Since you arrived when the fortress was opening for the day, you’ll beat most of the crowds inside. That means you might enjoy heading to the Jewel House before the long lines appear, allowing you a less-crowded chance to take in the opulent coronation jewels and royal valuables.

What else will you see? Well, on this 18-acre estate, you’re lucky to have a guide with you to explore some of the many areas open to the public. Enjoy a guided tour of places like Wakefield Tower, St. Thomas’ Tower (a re-created royal bedroom is here!), the Bloody Tower, and Tower Green. The memorial for executed prisoners is a solemn place where your guide will share the real truths behind Anne Boleyn and others.

Private Meeting with a Yeoman Warder

For the most exclusive tour at the Tower of London, this is your best bet. The famed Beefeaters are practically a national treasure. With 20+ years of military service, and a great sense of humor, Yeoman Warders are the top of the class. And they’ll have fascinating stories to tell as you meet with one in a private group inside the Bloody Tower.

Now that you’re totally amped to explore the rest of the Tower of London, follow your expert guide on a journey back through time. You’ll easily navigate places like the Causeway, Beefeater’s Quarters, St. Thomas’ Tower, Wakefield Tower, and more with them at your side. Their stories of tragedy and falsely accused prisoners will make these stone walls come alive.

And of course, you’ll have entry to the famous crown jewels at the Jewel House. Though guides are not allowed inside, they know all about the treasures found inside and will tell you what to watch for. For instance, the oldest piece dates back to the 1600s and you’d easily miss it without their tip as you walk through the displays. This Tower of London tour will be one to remember!

DESTINATIONS , ENGLAND , EUROPE

Is the london pass worth it an honest review by a local.

My hometown of London has an unwelcome, but not undeserved, reputation for being eye-wateringly expensive. Although its superb state-funded museums are free, London’s other attractions can seriously bend your credit card.

Like many major cities, London has a city pass – the Go City® London All-Inclusive Pass or London Pass – that provides free access to many of its top attractions and activities. But is this London Pass worth it?

The bottom line is that this pass can generate significant savings , particularly if you are visiting the more expensive attractions.

Get the lowdown in my London Pass review which covers how it works, what is included, how much it costs and where to buy it. All information and prices are taken from the London Pass official website and are correct as of March 2024.

IN THIS ARTICLE

The London Pass gives you free access to several top London attractions and tours

Some of these include fast-track admission , avoiding the need for queuing. At selected attractions, there are extra perks such as gift shop discounts.

The pass also comes with a free guidebook containing information about each attraction, maps and helpful London tips.

It works as a digital sightseeing pass . You choose your pass duration – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or 10 days – and then download this to the official London Pass app. For the duration of your pass’s validity, you can visit as many of the included attractions as you can manage, subject to a maximum “ credits value “. As these credits values are extremely generous, they will not be an issue for most travellers (for example; a 1-day adult pass has a maximum credits value of £180).

The London Pass has to be used on consecutive days . For example, if you have a 3-day pass and start using it on a Wednesday, it will be valid for that day, Thursday and Friday.

London All-Inclusive Pass vs London Explorer Pass

It’s easy to confuse these two London city passes, both of which are sold by Go City.

Unlike many traditional city passes, the London Explorer Pass offers access to a predetermined number of attractions over a generous 60-day time window. The London All-Inclusive Pass provides access to unlimited included attractions over a predetermined number of days.

The London Pass lets you choose the number of consecutive sightseeing days. With the London Explorer Pass, you choose how many attractions you would like to visit.

What is free with the London Pass?

As of March 2024, more than 90 attractions and activities are free with the Go City® London Pass. You can check the full list on the official website. Most of London’s most popular attractions are there, including the Tower of London, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey and Windsor Castle. In addition to tours and attractions, the London Pass gives you free tickets to screenings at the wonderful Curzon cinemas.

Here are some of the most popular London attractions included in the pass along with the full adult ticket price at the time of updating this article (March 2024).

There’s no need to pre-book many of these. However, there are a few you will need to book in advance as they cap visitor numbers. You can get the full list of attractions that require reservations here .

For me, St. Paul’s Cathedral is one of the most beautiful and special places in London.

  • Westminster Abbey (£27)

Westminster Abbey is London’s Pantheon.

Founded by Benedictine monks in 960 AD, this Gothic masterpiece is the final resting place of 17 English monarchs, plus writers, artists, scientists and political leaders. It is also where you will find the Coronation Chair, on which monarchs have been crowned for the past thousand years.

The View from The Shard (£37)

Soaring to a height of almost 310 meters above the River Thames, The Shard is the tallest building in the United Kingdom and the seventh-tallest in Europe. It is home to The View from The Shard, the highest viewpoint in London.

Windsor Castle (£33) – afternoon entry only

Windsor is one of the easiest day trips from London by train . In just 30 minutes you can be exploring one of Europe’s historic palaces .

Home to British kings and queens for almost 1,000 years, Windsor is the oldest occupied castle in the world.

It’s also good to see many of London’s interesting smaller museums on the list of attractions included in the London Pass. These include the excellent Museum of Brands and the Mail Rail at the Postal Museum .

Attractions not included in the London Pass

Even to my critical eye, the London Pass is pretty comprehensive. However, it does not include the London Eye, tours of Buckingham Palace, the London Aquarium, the London Dungeon and tours of the Palace of Westminster (Houses of Parliament). Madame Tussauds is also a notable exclusion, but who in their right mind would want to waste precious time there?

It’s also worth mentioning that the pass may not cover admission to special exhibitions and events or audioguides at the included attractions. Government-funded museums are not included but admission to their permanent exhibitions is free regardless.

Unlike some city cards, the London All-Inclusive Pass does not include  public transportation . To zip around London’s transport network,  buy an Oyster card  (a prepayment tap-and-go smart card) and load it with credit when you arrive. Alternatively, use your contactless bank card.

London Pass prices & how to buy

The London Pass can only be purchased online from the official site or GetYourGuide here . It’s worth comparing the prices and cancellation terms offered by the two sites.

Is the London Pass worth it? Crunching the numbers

The only way to figure out if the London Pass will save you money is to cost a sample itinerary with and without the pass. To give you a head start, I’ve priced one and two-day itineraries.

These are based on a first-time visitor’s solo trip to London .

These key London attractions are clustered within walking distance of one another along the Thames.

  • Evening boat ride on the Thames (23)

Cost of individual tickets: £117.10

1-Day London Pass: £90

SAVING: £27.10

In the evening, you could max out the pass further by seeing a movie at one of the Curzon cinemas.

Day two of this sample itinerary starts by visiting Westminster Abbey before taking a short train ride to Windsor.

  • Windsor Castle (£33)

Cost of individual tickets: £177.10

2-Day London Pass: £125

SAVING: £52.10

Note that these itineraries do not include the use of a hop-on-hop-off bus or one of the excellent tours on offer.

As these examples illustrate, the London Pass is likely to save you money. With a little planning, you can visit enough attractions in two days to be easily quids in.

Add to that the convenience of not having to queue to buy tickets at each place, and fast-track admission where available, and it’s a no-brainer.

For extra reassurance, Go City has introduced a risk-free guarantee .

If the city pass costs more than individual attraction tickets, they will refund you the difference. To be eligible, you’ll need to have scanned your pass at least three times per day, every day of your pass.

If you want to set your budget in advance – No one likes a nasty shock when they check their credit card statement at the end of a holiday. With the London Pass, you can take control over a chunk of your vacation budget.

If you are looking for convenience – There’s a lot to be said for not having to purchase individual tickets and fast-track entry. Who doesn’t want to be treated like a VIP at times?

tower of london

Who should skip the pass?

If you do not have a smartphone – Although those who do not have a smartphone are in the minority, there are still some out there (including a few of my friends). As the London Pass is no longer available as a paper ticket, you will not be able to use it if you do not have a smartphone.

As you can show a London Explorer P ass as a paper copy, consider this as an alternative.

If you are on a budget – In an expensive city like London, it can be challenging to stretch the travel budget to the paid-for attractions. Fortunately, London has a clutch of excellent free museums, parks and gardens.

I f you have already visited the big-ticket items – Perhaps you have already visited places like the Tower of London or Westminster Abbey. These more expensive London Pass attractions generate the biggest savings.

If you are looking for a relaxed itinerary – Another key to maximising the benefits of the London Pass is to squeeze as much into your sightseeing day as possible.

The London Pass is unlikely to be a good buy if you only plan to visit a few paid attractions during your stay. Instead, consider the London Explorer Pass as an alternative.

Tips for squeezing the most value out of your London Pass

1. Plan your itinerary

A little research can go a long way. Identify which attractions you want to visit and whether they are included in the pass. This will help you decide if the London Pass is worth it for you.

2. Consider transit times

Don’t just look at a list of London attractions in isolation. Whilst, many of its landmarks are located in central London, others are in outer boroughs (e.g. Kew Gardens, Hampton Court Palace).

Therefore, consider how long it will take to travel between the places on your draft London itinerary, clustering them by locality if possible.

3. Don’t try to squeeze too much in

This is the biggest danger of city cards. By trying to visit as many of the included attractions as possible, you run the risk of becoming completely frazzled.

It’s far better to pick a smaller number of high-value activities and enjoy them. If relaxed sightseeing is more your thing, take a look at the Go City® London Explorer Pass here .

4. Prioritise high-value attractions

You get the most bang for your buck by using your London Pass for entry into the more expensive London attractions. By using the pass to get you into places like the Tower of London, Westminster Abbey and Windsor Castle, you maximise its benefits.

5. Consider what is not covered by the London Pass

Think about attractions that are not covered by the London Pass, such as its excellent museums and the London Eye. If these are on your itinerary, visit these on a “non-London Pass day.”

6. Start using your London Pass on the morning of the first day of validity

As the pass’s validity is for consecutive days, not 24-hour periods, make an early start to your sightseeing to get the best value from it. If you start using your London Pass late in the day, that will count as your first day.

7. Check opening hours in advance

Some London attractions are closed on certain days of the week (Westminster Abbey is closed on Sundays, for example) and many admit their last visitors at 4.30 pm.

8. Make sure that you make reservations where these are required.

9. Appoint the London Pass guidebook as your best friend

The complimentary guidebook is a mine of useful information, including travel information and those attractions offering skip-the-line access to pass holders.

When Is The Best Time To Visit London?

England is a country obsessed with weather. Don’t know what to say? Comment on the weather! Us Brits talk about it a lot, but contrary to what you may have heard, we don’t have awful weather in London. It’s just a little unpredictable and varies from region to region.

You can expect average lows of around 5 °C in London in January / February, and highs around 25°C in July / August.

If you’re wondering when is the best time to visit England, I’d suggest planning a trip in May or June. The weather tends to be warm and sunny, rain is at a minimum and it’s out of peak season, so you shouldn’t be battling any big crowds either. The longest day is around 20th June every year, so it’s a time you can enjoy maximum daylight hours exploring!

I’ve never been a fan of November in London. It’s the wettest month of the year, and while December can be pretty cold, there’s a Christmas magic in London which always puts a smile on my face!

The best places to travel, according to a ranking of where people want to visit again.

An amazing part of traveling is discovering a new place, but there’s something special about returning to a beloved destination—which also speaks volumes about what makes a place stand out as one of the best.

So what are the places travelers want to return to the most?

Travel insurance specialists InsureandGo recent issued a report ranking the places that travelers are most eager to revisit . To come up with this list, the researchers looked at almost 500 countries, cities and global tourist attractions, then analyzed thousands of comments on Reddit and numerous online reviews to uncover the places that hold the greatest allure for repeat visits.

“There’s no end to the experiences you can have while traveling, with so many different countries and cities around the globe just waiting to be explored,” Russell Wallace, travel insurance expert at InsureandGo, said in a release. “In some instances, however, traveling to the same place repeatedly can in fact, provide a richer experience. Bringing with it a deeper understanding of a destination, along with local insights and maybe even discovering some hidden gems.”

A spring view of Fujiyoshida and Mt. Fuji in Japan, the country that travelers want to visit most.

Topping the list of countries that travelers yearn to revisit is Japan, which is renowned for its rich culture and diverse offerings. With an impressive 324 mentions on Reddit discussions alone, Japan has clearly enchanted visitors with its captivating blend of tradition and modernity, from the bustling streets of Tokyo to the serene landscapes of Kyoto.

Following closely behind Japan are Italy and Spain, two perennial favorites among globetrotters. With 294 and 209 mentions respectively, these Mediterranean gems captivate visitors with their culinary delights, stunning coastlines and architectural wonders.

When it comes to cities, London—with its iconic landmarks like Buckingham Palace and the Tower of London—reigns supreme as the ultimate destination for repeat visits. Rounding out the top five on the list: Paris, Barcelona and New York City (a tie), then Rome.

When it comes to tourist attractions, Dollywood was named the place travelers want to return to most. Set in the heart of Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains, this theme park—partly owned by the legendary Dolly Parton—delights visitors with its unique blend of entertainment, nostalgia and Southern hospitality. Disneyland in California came in at number two. A number of locations tied for the fifth spot on the list, including Yosemite National Park, England’s Blenheim Palace and Tokyo Disneyland.

If fans purchase tickets for a show in the U.S. or Canada and can’t attend, they’ll have the option to resell them to other fans at the original price paid. To help protect the Exchange, the tour has requested all tickets be mobile only and restricted from transfer. This applies to all shows except those in Colorado, Illinois, and New York where Face Value Exchange cannot be mandated. Please note, a valid bank account or debit card within the country of your event is required to sell on the Face Value Exchange. How to get tickets for Billie Eilish's 2025 UK tour: presale, ticket prices and everything you need to know

Clear your diaries! The popstar’s Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour is coming to an arena near you

Amy Houghton

Billie Eilish has officially entered a new era. With the Barbie hype over, the 22-year-old star has just announced that her third studio album,  Hit Me Hard and Soft , will be released May 17. And yes, that means she’s going on tour. Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour will take to the road in September 2024 and arrive here in the UK in summer 2025.

In proper Gen-Z fashion, Billie's tour will involve a number of planet-friendly initiatives. There will be plant-based food on offer at each venue, eco-villages and free water refill stations, and profits from a select number of tickets will go towards organisations fighting food insecurity and the climate crisis.

Fans will also be encouraged to use a sustainable means of transport and create their concert fit out of thrifted, upcycled or borrowed clothes. Of course, you have to get tickets first. Here’s how.

best tours london reddit

The party's not over: Billie Eilish is coming to an arena near you.

The Grammy-winning "What Was I Made For?" singer , 22, on Monday announced her latest world tour for her upcoming third studio album, " Hit Me Hard and Soft ." Eilish will head across North America from September to December before continuing into Australia and then heading to Europe in 2025.

The tour announcement comes less than a month before Eilish is scheduled to drop "Hit Me Hard and Soft," her follow-up to 2021's " Happier Than Ever ." The album will debut on May 17, and the "Bad Guy" singer has said that no singles will be released beforehand, as she wants fans to experience it in its entirety. Her debut album, "When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?", was released in 2019.

Eilish previously announced she would use recyclable materials for physical copies of her album, and a portion of the proceeds from her North American ticket sales will go to the environmental non-profit Reverb. Eilish is also encouraging fans to take public transportation and carpool to her shows to reduce greenhouse gas pollution.

Billie Eilish opens up about lifelong battle with depression: 'I've never been a happy person'

Eilish is coming off winning her second Oscar for the "Barbie" song "What Was I Made For?" She and her 26-year-old brother, Finneas, made history as the youngest people to win two Oscars after having already snagged the best original song Academy Award for their James Bond theme "No Time to Die."

Taylor Swift

Leading up to the release of Taylor Swift ‘s The Tortured Poets Department , one question lingered in the backs of Swiftie minds for months: How would the new album affect the already three-hour-plus setlist of the pop star’s ongoing global Eras Tour?

When the record finally dropped April 19, bringing with it not just 16 pre-announced tracks, but 15 surprise bonus songs as well, their concerns were only exacerbated. How could Swift possibly slim down her pre- Tortured Poets setlist to fit any new material once she hit the road again? Where would she even begin selecting just a handful of the 31 songs on TTPD to include? Would she even bother trying? (Based on a video the singer posted of recent rehearsals for her next run of shows, which kicks off May 9 in Paris, the answer to that last question is most likely a “Yes.”)

It’s no small task, especially given that no matter what the “Anti-Hero” singer cuts or adds, some fans are bound to be upset when their favorites inevitably don’t make the final listing. Even so, Billboard has risen to the challenge, selecting the best possible collection of Tortured Poets tracks to represent Swift’s newest era while trimming the fat of past eras for an updated, ultimate dream Eras Tour setlist.

Some songs were hard to say good-bye to (sorry, “Mastermind”), and others were truly painful to not extend an invitation (don’t hate us, “Guilty as Sin?”). But in service of a well-rounded, comprehensive Eras experience, difficult decisions had to be made. Keep reading to see how Swift should move forward with her trek, Tortured Poets and all — plus, an idea on how her debut album Taylor Swift can finally get its flowers — below.

ACT I: 'Lover'

  • “Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince”
  • “Cruel Summer”
  • “The Man”
  • “You Need to Calm Down”
  • “Lover”

CUT: “The Archer”

Note: Swift could also probably benefit from shortening her meandering pre-“The Man” monologue in Act I to save room for more songs later on.

ACT II: 'Fearless'

  • “Fearless”
  • “You Belong With Me”
  • “Love Story”

Note: At three songs, the Fearless era is already the perfect length, holistically comprised of the album’s title track and its two breakthrough hits, which made Swift a global star. No room for cuts here.

ACT III: 'Evermore'

  • “‘Tis the Damn Season”
  • “Willow”
  • “Champagne Problems”
  • “Tolerate It”

CUT: “Marjorie”

Note: Swift definitely deserves to drink in the applause for a moment after her magnificent piano performance of “Champagne Problems,” but at past Eras shows, she’s allowed the ovations to last for upwards of eight minutes . To save room for more songs, she may want to keep things moving at future stops.

ACT IV: 'Reputation'

  • “…Ready For It?”
  • “Delicate”
  • “Don’t Blame Me”
  • “Look What You Made Me Do”

Note: If you’ve been to an Eras show, you know: There’s no messing with the Reputation set. The already ear-splitting crowd somehow gets even louder as soon as this first notes of “Ready For It” blast through the speakers, and the stadium stays at peak volume throughout the traditional “1, 2, 3, Let’s go b–ch” chant during “Delicate” and the seamless transition between “Don’t Blame Me” and “Look What You Made Me Do.” No cuts.

ACT V: 'Speak Now'

  • “Enchanted”
  • “Long Live”

Note: Justice for Speak Now . Swift’s third album deserves a proper showcase each night, so we sincerely hope that the pop star doesn’t scrap “Long Live” — which she only added to the setlist four months into the Eras Tour’s first leg — to make room for TTPD.

ACT VI: 'Red'

  • “22”
  • “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”
  • “I Knew You Were Trouble”
  • “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)”

Note: It may seem like an easy time-saver to simply swap out the ten-minute version of “All Too Well” for Swift’s original five-minute version, but doing so would be robbing Swifties of the best ten-minute segment in the entire show. We simply won’t hear of it. That song aside, the other three hits on this mini-set — similar to the Fearless era — form a perfect bite-sized capsule of the album they represent, leaving no excess behind.

ACT VII: 'Folklore'

  • “Betty”
  • “August”
  • “Illicit Affairs” (Bridge Only)
  • “My Tears Ricochet”
  • “Cardigan”

CUTS: “The 1” / “Invisible String” & “The Last Great American Dynasty”

Note: Sorry, Folklorians: It’ll always have a special place at the heart of the Eras Tour show, but Swift has now released three new albums since her initial alt-folk pivot — hence the harsher cuts here.

ACT VIII: '1989'

  • “Style”
  • “Blank Space”
  • “Shake It Off”
  • “Wildest Dreams”
  • “Bad Blood”

Note: It’s almost impossible to imagine cutting any of the five songs on the 1989 setlist, each of them massive, stadium-rocking hits a full ten years after their original release (three of them peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, while “Wildest Dreams” and “Style” reached Nos. 5 and 6, respectively). A time-saving mashup between two or more of them could, however, be an avenue to explore if needed, with a majority of the tracks boasting similar keys and corresponding musical styles.

INTERLUDE: Surprise Songs

  • Surprise Song No. 1
  • Surprise Song No. 2

Note: It’s safe to assume that the nightly surprise song section will be where Swift makes up for unused Tortured Poets songs, giving fans the chance to hear acoustic versions of the 20+ tracks on her newest album that probably won’t make it onto the regular setlist .

ACT IX: 'Midnights'

  • “Lavender Haze”
  • “Anti-Hero”
  • “Vigilante Shit”
  • “Bejeweled”
  • “Karma”

CUTS: “Midnight Rain” & “Mastermind”

Note: The only non-single to remain safe, “Vigilante Shit” would’ve been next on the chopping block. But honestly — what would the Eras Tour be without Swift’s iconic sultry, Chicago -esque dance break?

ACT X: 'The Tortured Poets Department'

  • “Fortnight”
  • “The Tortured Poets Department”
  • “Down Bad”
  • “So Long, London”
  • “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?”
  • Mashup: “Teardrops on My Guitar” x “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart”
  • “But Daddy I Love Him”

Note: As Swift’s newest album, Tortured Poets deserves to be the finale. And while, upon first listen, the record may not seem like it has enough stadium-ready bops to close out the show, the above songs 100% have the potential to be converted into the high-energy moments the Eras Tour commands. Just imagine the theatrical potential of “Who’s Afraid,” the meta-ness of a real-life crowd chanting “More!” during “Broken Heart,” and confetti falling from the sky during the final chorus of “But Daddy…” We picture gothic visuals, writing desks, typewriter props, period costumes and lightning strikes during this section.

Now, about that mashup. It’s absurd that Swift has never included any songs from her 2006 self-titled debut album — aka her first-ever era — on the main Eras Tour setlist. But it’s not too late to rectify that.

Picture this: The lights go down after Swift performs “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” Costumes change, a tiger cage and other circus-themed set pieces are wheeled away. Then, the songwriter — her silhouette barely visible under the dim glow of an aquamarine spotlight — sings a cappella the final chorus of the first song about faking smiles in the face of heartbreak she ever released: “Teardrops on My Guitar.” Emphasis on the lyric, “the only one who’s got enough of me to break my heart.”

After she trails off on the last line — “Drew looks at me, I fake a smile so he won’t see” — the stadium comes to life once more as the crowd’s multi-color light-up bracelets go haywire, an explosion of sound filling the space. “I can read your mind,” Swift jumps in, surrounded by dancers as the lights suddenly go up, revealing one last fabulous costume. “‘She’s having the time of her life…'”

Once that’s done, she’ll move on to the finale, flipping off the haters, embracing her truest fans and proudly proclaiming her love for the man of her dreams in one fell swoop with “But Daddy I Love Him,” disappearing offstage before concertgoers have even finished singing along. Fin.

Eilish, who is a proponent of sustainability, has said the upcoming tour will be the most eco-friendly yet. For the forthcoming album, she will release a limit of eight variants of vinyl through her website as well as all major retailers and all produced with “the most sustainable practices available.” The standard black variant is made from 100% recycled black vinyl and the other seven colored vinyl issues will be made from ECO-MIX or BioVinyl.

Per her website , Eilish “is using a range of solutions as she works with her team towards constant improvement. All merchandise clothing uses residual dead stock from prior productions, organic or recycled polyester or cotton, non-toxic dye inputs and intentional design processes for circularity, reduced climate impact and regeneration to reduce harm to people and planet. Posters are made from 100% recycled paper.”

Since 2019, Eilish has partnered with nonprofit Reverb to reduce her tours’ environmental footprint, engage fans in climate action, and support nonprofit organizations and climate projects.

She has also said she would not be releasing any singles in advance of the album, telling Rolling Stone , “Every single time an artist I love puts out a single without the context of the album, I’m just already prone to hating on it. I really don’t like when things are out of context. This album is like a family: I don’t want one little kid to be in the middle of the room alone.” She also previously wrote on Instagram, “not doing singles i wanna give it to you all at once… finneas and i truly could not be more proud of this album and we absolutely can’t wait for you to hear it.”
