Spirit of Bhutan - 8 Days

Adventure Himalaya was not the tour operator as stated, We discovered on arrival that it was Bhutan Aries Tours and Treks. They did a very good job but we like to know who we are dealing with early on and have contact information in case unforeseen events occur. Our major disappointment involves the accommodations we received in Phodrang . In e-mails, websites, and in the itineraries, we were told we would be in 3 star hotels. In fact, the Bhutan Government Route Permit provided to us by Adventure Himalayan stated we we staying at the Dewachen Hotel with 3 stars. We were taken to the Thegchen Phodrang Guest House which is not rated as a hotel. We had to walk several minutes down a muddy road, then on arrival the electricity in the house was off and we were led to our room up a dangerously dark stairway. The electricity was later turned on. The room had no telephone, no WiFi, no television, was not properly heated, and in the morning there was no hot water. We checked booking websites and discovered the current rate for this guest house is $28 US per night. We would very much like to understand how and why this whole situation occurred.

We did the Glimpse of Bhutan 5 night 6 days trip in Bhutan. Our guide and driver were amazing! They were professional, entertaining and knowledgeable too. We had a short on time for trip therefore we chose to do the 5 night 6 days tour to Bhutan. This trip covered all the main sightseeing place such as Tashichho Dzong, Tiger's Nest Monastry, Dochu-La pass, Punaha Dzong, the palace of Great Happiness and lots of beautiful scenery, which is what drew us to Bhutan initially. The hotels and food on this tour were wonderful too, definitely exceeded my expectations. Our Guide coordinated perfectly and never had one fault due to miscommunication. I've been on 3 OneSeed expeditions and I have loved every one of them. Each trip was well organized and a breeze to plan for (packing lists are provided). They also take into account the trekker's dietary needs ( I had vegetarian food on all 3 trips-- all delicious meals). The guides were amazing too, they were helpful and great company on long days. I would absolutely travel with them again. The trips I've done are: Epic Patagonia, Kilimanjaro Summit and Safari, and Drunk Path in Bhutan.

What a great stay it was! Me and my family we reached back from the trip and i cant imagine how beautiful the stay was. We were warmly welcomed by the guide at the airport. The guide and the driver was very humble. since the beginning of the trip it went as planned in the itinerary. The drive from the airport to the capital was very soothing to eyes, we visited Paro, Thimphu, phunakha, phobjika valley too and the experience was breath taking. The people and the places are so rooted to their culture and tradition. The places were very neat and clean, the food was something we looked forward to and it lived up to the expectation. since the tour was for 13 days and Luckily Thimphu Tshechu was being held when we were in capital SO we wanted to extent our stay for 3 more days to attend the festival and the tour operator did all the necessary arrangements in the nick of time. the festival was colorful and meaningful. sadly the stay had to end but the memories me and my family made there will always be cherished we were very satisfied with the services rendered by World tour plan and would definitely recommend them if you are planning to visit Bhutan. This egg, considered to be lucky, saved the family from an epidemic that destroyed their entire village.

5. Dochula Pass, Thiumpu:  This mountain pass, standing at an elevation of around 3100 meters, is one of the most striking locations and must be part of your Bhutan holiday packages. The pass is famous for offering jaw-dropping panoramic views of surrounding mountains and valleys shrouded in silvery mist.

Thickets of flowers like magnolia, and rhododendrons, surround the pass and Daphne and are framed by Himalayan ranges in the background. The Best Time to Visit Bhutan

Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the best seasons to visit the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan. In spring, the temperatures range between 3°C to 25°C, while in autumn they hover between 10°C to 23°C. How to Reach Bhutan

You can reach Bhutan  by air and road from India. There is no direct rail connectivity. The fastest way to reach Bhutan is by air. Though Bhutan has many domestic airports, Paro International Airport is the sole gateway into Bhutan by air from outside. Druk Air, Bhutan’s national airline, operates regular flights from Kolkata, Bagdogra, Guwahati, Gaya, Delhi and Mumbai. Among these only Kolkata enjoys direct connectivity to Paro. The rest all offer connecting flights. Kolkata also has the most frequent of flights.

A road trip into Bhutan is the most popular way to get into the country. You have a choice of 3 points of entry into Bhutan from India:

Out of these, The Jaigaon - Phuentsholing border is by far the most popular option. It is the most easily accessible border crossing, and this is also where you get the entry permit quite easily. All Indian citizens travelling to Bhutan must obtain an ‘Entry Permit’ from the Immigration Office of the Royal Government of Bhutan. This entry permit will allow you to explore Paro and Thimphu only. To venture further into the country, you must get a ‘Special Area Permit’ from the Royal Government of Bhutan Immigration Office located in Thimphu.

You can either drive yourself, hire a taxi or hop on to a bus. Private taxis and buses are available from Bagdogra, New Jalpaiguri, Siliguri and Kolkata. At 18 hours, Kolkata to Phuentsholing is the longest bus journey while it takes around 4 hours from Bagdogra and Siliguri.

The fort itself is a wonder of architecture as it doesn’t use a single nail in its construction. National Museum of Bhutan:

The National Museum of Bhutan is a treasure trove of the country’s rich history. It chronicles more than 1,500 years of Bhutan’s culture in about 3,000 exhibits. But it is the ginger that gives Jasha Maru its soul. Usually served with generous helpings of chicken broth, the poultry may be replaced by other meats in some other variations of this flavourful dish. You will find this served mostly with red rice, although some places may serve it with buckwheat noodles. Do try it but be prepared for the after-burn.

Zow Shungo - A Quick Meal:

The Zow Shungo is a proud proponent of the Bhutanese philosophy of avoiding needless waste.
