Wow what an amazing itinerary, clearly you and your Logistics Manager had a fantastic time. Was a great way to spend some positive time over coffee this morning! Thanks again
Davie this is brilliant, 1 year ago we were on the Millennium from Singapore to Philippines, Hong Kong and Vietnam. You brought back wonderful memories of that trip. Thank you.

We should have been on the same cruise on the Millennium in less than a months time.
Just to add we moved it to next February now on a S class ship flying from Glasgow doing it the opposite way from Hong Kong to Singapore.

Curious to know what ship you are on? This is a marvelous itinerary.

Thanks Tipsy glad you enjoyed it and it brought back those good memories we all need those especially just now.
DavietheScot, great review it was like a trip down memory lane. In Feb 2019 we met our son and family in Hong Kong to celebrate the Lunar New Year and did the trip in reverse, on the Millenium, to Singapore and spent 5 days in Singapore enjoying the city.
We have planned the same trip HKG -SIN for Jan 2022 and meeting the family in Singapore for the Lunar New Year, planning to stay longer in Singapore.

We are planning to do HKG - SIN in Jan 2022 and it is on the Solstice.

Thank you!!
Very nice review. We are scheduled to do the 14 night reverse itinerary aboard Solstice in December. I hope the trip goes as planned because if we have to postpone it to next year, Celebrity has shortened this itinerary to only 11 nights and have stripped it of all its overnight stays.

You all got me thinking and looking here! See two I would love on Solstice in fall 2022. 12 night Vietnam and Thailand or a 15 night Bering Sea/Japan/Transpacific. While certainly not giving it away, pleasantly surprised at the pricing for the suite level. Going to do a bit more research, the 12 day is a little more port intensive, though not overly so, and the 15 day has 8 full sea days, which I love.
Thank you for the review and great photos! Nice to see some familiar faces on board 😉

I am sure your trip next year will go ahead and you will have a ball its a great itinerary with lots to see and enjoy at each port.

Can I ask a question Davie. It’s a part of the world we have never visited. I enjoyed reading your review and the street food in Singapore. Is it fair to say that it’s generally safe to eat, we tend to be careful in certain countries.

It is nigh impossible to find street food in Singapore because it is illegal to set up a stall and sell food by the street.
If you are after the local fare, these food vendors can be found in covered food centres or air-conditioned food courts.
To answer your question, the food is extremely safe. All food stalls are given a cleanliness rating by the government authorities which they have to display clearly for their customers to see.
Yes Donna it is safe to eat the local food particularly in the hawker centers. Many of them are in the basement of the shopping malls as well as being stand alone buildings but there excellent and there is a wide selection so you will find something to your taste many dishes being veg based but honestly they are clean and safe.

Probably doesn't matter .
treasureisland
We have just got back from our Singapore to Hong Kong Cruise aboard the Millenium. We booked a port side cabin but I think you would be better with starboard as we didn't get much of a view in Singapore or Hong Kong from our balcony. Also the sun did not get on our balcony until 2.30 to 3.00pm.Suppose it depends if you want the sun!! We had a view looking out at the terminal building in Singapore and likewise in Hong Kong. Hope you have a fab cruise. Cheers Anne
This thread is of interest to me. :)
We are booked on the 2/25/17 cruise. We have a Starboard stateroom AQ1 with the barely covered balcony. What is the weather like for this cruise in February?
Iamthesea - The weather will be either fine or terrible. February historically is nice but who knows a year ahead or even tomorrow.
We've done this a few times on a different cruise line. It really does not matter.
We chose aft - then no worries either way ;).
What is considered "nice". I have no idea what to pack for clothing.
Are temps usually warm, cool or cold in February? Areas mostly rainy or fair?
I am more concerned about having the proper clothes. We know that when we cruise in the spring and fall to Europe to expect mostly cool temps with the exception of a few ports.

You go from steaming hot (Singapore) up to Bright but chilly (Hong Kong) - Northern Vietnam similar to HKG. If you stop in Thailand, it is also very hot and humid similar to Singapore. Rain most likely in Singapore.
Hong Kong is often assumed by many to be hot year round. That is definitely not the case and can get cold in the winter months but rare to get really cold as in frost. Many a time I flew from where I was based (Singapore and Bangkok) for business meetings and completely forgot about the weather difference. Frequently ended up shivering waiting for the airport express to head downtown. It has seasonal weather changes that are quite noticeable. Keep in mind the start of the cruise is 2500km away from the destination. similar distance to Miami to Toronto.
Thank you. Very helpful! Saving your post a file. :)
We will also be on a Sydney to Auckland cruise, ending a week before the Singapore to Hong Kong cruise. Doing something landside during that week before flying to Singapore.
Sounds like with the European cruises, we will pack for both types of weather and take layers.
Hello. We too have just returned from this cruise, joining the Millennium on the 14th February.
We were actually in an aft cabin ourselves so had a good view of both sides. In port, the starboard was perhaps the better, certainly in HK.
As for the weather and the places we visited:
Singapore - hot , hot, hot and sunny
Bangkok - hot, sunny and humid
Ho Chi Min and area - hot and humid
Hoi An - hot and sunny
Halong Bay - COLD and damp! Oh goodness, what a shock! Take jumpers and waterproof jackets!
Hong Kong - it had been cold, but turned on our arrival and quite pleasant. Be prepared for changing weather.
A lovely cruise.
Thank you. I really like cool over hot and humid. :( My hair and skin do too!
What is a jumper? I take a Miramar waterproof jacket and with layers underneath, I stay toasty. ;)
What is a jumper?
They are not referring to you smuggling in a joey :D - a sweater to you, a jumper on this side of the pond :).

Good to see some supporting evidence for what I suggested LOL. Take layers and a rain coat/umbrella. Most times I used to miss my own advice

anniegb - Did you sign up for the cruise? Is it the same date as mine? I think there is a Roll Call, but I have not been active, as yet.

I am at looking at different dates in 2016.
However I think I will be on the Feb Solstice to NZ - my godson's wedding is later in the month.
Thanks for this.
I view packing for cruising similar to holidaying in N Europe - prepare for 4 seasons in the one day.
Hello Iamthesea and Anniegb, we are also booked on the same cruise.
Anniegb you are right, our Roll Call is not very active and I learned more in this present short discussion (about weather to be expected) than in our whole Roll Call.
Iamthesea, I agree about the AQ1 deck 11 side balconies; that's the reason why we preferred a covered deck 9 AQ2 balcony. See you at the Blu!
Before someone mentions it to us, we should continue this discussion in the Roll Call thread and start talking about shore excursions and our pre and post cruise plans!

Hi vivi9909
I am NOT booked on any Millie cruise in 2017.
I am at looking at different dates in 2016. However I think I will be on the Feb Solstice to NZ - my godson's wedding is later in the month. Annie
I see. I thought the 2016 Asian cruises were over. Shows you what I know.
I have a couple of more cruises to plan before I get to the 2017 cruises. Maybe I will check the Roll Call out in June. Looking forward to meeting you, too! ;)
95% of the time the only view is the ocean anyway. It really comes down to - would you like direct sun in the morning or in the evening. If you want morning sun - Starboard. If you want sun in the late afternoon/evening - Port.

HK is in the sub tropics and its coldest month is Jan with an average temp of 16C/61F which is far from cold or even chilly IMO, its close in Latitude to Hawaii actually. The worst months there are July and August when its hot and the humidity is off the charts....
Yes, definitely take layers for NZ. Even in mid-summer it can be very cool when cruising through Fiordland. On our Christmas cruise around NZ we had 30C (86F) in Akaroa, then 14C (57F) with a cold southerly wind blowing in Dunedin the next day. It felt even colder the following day when we went through Fiordland - my warm hat and gloves were very welcome.
FloridaGirlLovesToCruise
We are sailing Feb. 11, 2017 on the Millennium from Hong Kong to Singapore. Is it still better to be on the starboard side? We are in cabin 7160 on the starboard side. Thanks for the info regarding the weather.

Celebrity Solstice
Celebrity Solstice is one of Celebrity's more decorated ships at sea. So it's no wonder that it's full of "firsts." Like the first Lawn Club at sea. The first Hot Glass Show, a custom-designed, outdoor glassblowing studio. Some other things that set the Celebrity Solstice cruise ship apart are its specialty restaurants. Celebrity's passion for outstanding cuisine has taken the restaurants, the food and the overall dining experience to a whole new level in the cruising world. But staterooms and specialty restaurants are only part of the charm. Celebrity Solstice also has the luxury spa, Canyon Ranch SpaClub , where you can pamper yourself with spa treatments or push yourself in a workout with one of the personalized trainers. If only life on land was as good as life on Celebrity Solstice .
