Dolly Parton to make special appearance in Mississippi. See where
Dolly Parton will kick off the 2023-2024 season Aug. 26 for the Ellis Theater in Philadelphia, Mississippi as Marty Stuart announced the lineup Wednesday night.
Stuart made the announcement from the stage at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium during the 20th anniversary of his annual "LATE NIGHT JAM" and Congress of County Music fundraising event.

“We are very excited to be able to host such an incredible and diverse line-up of superstar talent. We have worked very hard to put together something spectacular to present to the people of Philadelphia, along with our friends and neighbors throughout the state of Mississippi, as well as bringing in audiences from around the country and even around the world. We have something truly special here in Philadelphia and we can’t wait to share it with everyone," said Buck Alman, the director of the Congress of Country Music and General Manager of the Ellis Theater. “We may have a few more surprises out there as well. We always have friends stopping by. You never knowwho may show up."
Parton is not officially touring in the summer and fall of 2023, but is making a special appearance for Stuart.
Tickets for the Aug. 26 event are expected to go on sale soon.

Excitement for classic country fans has been building since Marty Stuart’s Congress of Country Music announced Dolly Parton would open the 2023 season at a Mississippi venue, but quickly fizzled for some when ticket prices were announced.
“Access to the limited seating inside the Ellis Theater will range from $350 to $3500,” the website reads. “There is a strict limit of four tickets per person or household for inside seating.”
According to the Congress of Country Music social media pages, the Ellis Theater in Philadelphia holds 500 people.

“Please remember and understand that this event is a fundraising event and not just a concert, so the guidelines, rules, and other ‘normal’ concert protocol may be a little different than what you’re used to,” a statement from the venue reads. “We do apologize for any inconveniences, but we want everyone to come and enjoy the day with us and have a great time with an absolutely AMAZING and very gracious lady in support of worthy causes: Dolly’s Imagination Library and the Congress of Country Music.”
There will be two performances on August 26.
“Dolly has so very graciously agreed to two performances!! This is such an incredible gift, and we are so very thankful to Dolly for adding a second performance,” a statement reads. “The first performance will be at 3 p.m. with a second performance at 7 p.m. Both shows will be full performances. There will not be an opening act for either of the two performances.”
There is a more cost-friendly option for people near Philadelphia. For $35 per ticket, people can gather outside the theater to watch the concert on a large screen. There will also be food and drink vendors to help make the August night more pleasant.
“We will have Dolly, larger than life, on the Dollytron! We will be turning historic, downtown Philadelphia into one big Dolly Party,” the release states. “Ticket prices for access to the Dolly Party and Dollytron viewing area will be $35. The outdoor event area will have food and beverage vendors to keep everyone fed and hydrated. The viewing area will feature a gigantic Dollytron video-wall that will be broadcasting the live going-ons inside the Ellis Theater so that we can help everyone be a part of this incredible event. Outdoor viewing will take place rain or shine. Please bring your chair! We do ask that you not make a large, blanketed area or pallet. We want everyone to be able to have a seat.”
The link for tickets will go live at 9 a.m. Tuesday. It will be posted on the venue’s Facebook page and at www.congressofcountrymusic.org .

Moonshine tastings and tour bus sleepovers: the best new Dolly Parton experiences
The country icon’s Tennessee home has welcomed a wave of fan experiences, with everything from moonshine tastings to tour bus sleepovers.
The Queen of Country is a titan of the American music scene — Dolly Parton's theme park alone attracts more than three million travellers each year. And now, the Dollyverse is expanding with the opening of a new star-spangled resort in the majestic Great Smoky Mountains, alongside a string of other developments. From updates on her long-awaited HeartSong Lodge & Resort to the new star roller coaster, here are her latest hits.
1. Dollywood adds new attractions
Dolly’s theme park, 15 miles from her eastern Tennessee birthplace, recently received a revamp. The new star of the show is Big Bear Mountain, the longest roller-coaster at Dollywood , which takes two two minutes to whizz around nearly 4,000ft of track. If looping-the-loop isn’t your vibe, head to the freshly unveiled Dolly Parton Experience, an interactive exhibition charting Dolly’s rags-to-rhinestones story.
2. Her tour bus offers a superstar sleepover
For almost 15 years, Dolly’s customised tour bus faithfully ferried the Queen of Country and her sky-high wig collection across the US. With the vehicle now in retirement at Dollywood’s DreamMore Resort, fans can peek inside the singer’s maximalist wardrobe before sleeping in her fuchsia velvet bed. The Suite 1986 Tour Bus Experience also offers a lavish meal with wine, as well as the option to book a cruise around the mountainous landscape in a custom hot-pink Jeep.
3. Moonshine gets hip
Moonshine, an eye-wateringly strong corn whisky, was once the tipple of choice for Prohibition-era bootleggers. Today, Dolly’s niece, Danielle Parton, is part of a growing movement to update the drink’s clandestine image with the opening of her Tennessee microdistillery, Shine Girl . Take a tour before pulling up a stool at the bar, where red-velvet-flavoured cocktails are occasionally shaken by Danielle herself.
4. Destination Dollywood opens a new resort
The long-awaited HeartSong Lodge & Resort opened its doors at the end of 2023. Riffing on Dolly’s love of the nearby Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the 302-room hotel spotlights the wonders of the surrounding wilderness. In the rustic lobby, guests gather around a crackling log fire, while images of the region’s black bears pepper the lodge’s suites and rooms.
5. The Queen of Country and King of Rock & Roll unite
A new nine-day tour from Newmarket Holidays brings together two titans of American music for an unforgettable road trip. Pit stops on the Ultimate Elvis Presley and Dolly Parton Experience include Elvis’s birthplace in Tupelo, Mississippi, and Nashville’s RCA Studio B: the small but mighty hit factory where Dolly laid down her legendary track Coat of Many Colors.

Ringgold Hosts Dolly Days Festival May 11
- Monday, April 29, 2024
A Festival celebrating the country music star Dolly Parton returns for its third year, and it's bigger than ever. The Ringgold Downtown Partners, with support from the city of Ringgold, will host the Dolly Days event on Saturday, May 11, starting at 8 a.m.
The event, held in Downtown Ringgold, will feature Dolly-themed events for all ages and is expected to draw thousands of attendees.
Dolly Days will kick off at 8 a.m. with the Dolly Dash, a race with 10k, 5k, and 1-mile routes, where runners are encouraged to dress like Dolly Parton as they trek through Ringgold. The Dolly-themed fun will continue throughout the day with shopping, line dancing, a look-alike contest, live music, a kid zone, and more.
Festival goers can eat at one of Ringgold's many restaurants or peruse "Food Truck Alley" for dining options during the event.
The festivities will wrap up at 7 p.m. with a Dolly Parton Tribute at the Ringgold Depot, hosted by the Ringgold Depot Opry.
The Ringgold Downtown Partners created this event to share and celebrate a bit of the city's history with the public, as Dolly Parton was married in Ringgold in 1966, and to show the diverse retail and dining options the town offers. The RDP strives to build community through these events, and they are dedicated to creating a strong and thriving local economy. The City of Ringgold provides its full support to the RDP and to Dolly Days.
Dolly Days is free and open to the public. Visitors should know that Depot Street and part of Nashville Street, the area between Depot Street and Cleveland Street, will be closed from 7 a.m.-6 p.m. the day of the event.
Attendees are also encouraged to join Dolly Dash participants as they pick up their race packets on Friday, May 10, from 4–7 p.m. at the Remco Business Center. There will be music and shopping in Remco, and the RDP invites everyone to come out for a great time, whether competing in the Dolly Dash or not. Those interested can find a complete Dolly Days activity schedule at nothinlikeringgold.com .

Ronnie McDowell, Coral Reefer Band celebrates legends of Mississippi at Saenger
Jimmy Buffett created a lifestyle with his music — one that was cherished by fans around the world who appreciated his laidback attitude amid seafaring adventures.
Buffett, a Pascagoula native and Southern Miss grad, was 76 when he died in September from skin cancer, but his music is still treasured by his fans, who call themselves Parrotheads.
"When Jimmy passed in September, it caught us all by surprise," Nadirah Shakoor, Buffett's lead female vocalist of 33 years, said in a news release. “He was more than a boss; he was a dear friend. He kept his illness from all of us until the very end."
A concert Monday at the Saenger Theater in downtown Hattiesburg will feature members of Buffett's Coral Reefer band and other artists to celebrate Buffett's legacy and those of fellow Mississippians such as Elvis Presley and Conway Twitty.
“We want to keep his light shining," Shakoor said. "One of the last words he had was, 'Keep the party going,' and we plan to do exactly that. He was (one of) the most creative forces this world has ever seen."
Shakoor and fellow Coral Reefers Tina Gullickson, Doyle Grisham and Mick Utley will be among the performers, along with country music star Ronnie McDowell and local artist James Ducker.
"Look to see a Buffett-type concert at the Saenger," Grisham said.
"It’s a professional show from start to finish," Ducker added. "I'm honored to be a part of it."
Other area musicians performing at the concert include Laurelites Leigh Reynolds and Lowery Hicks, Reba McEntire's former band manager and bassist.
The group will perform songs to honor Presley, a Tupelo native, and Twitty, who was born in Friars Point.
McDowell, known for songs like "Older Women Make Good Lovers" and his Elvis tribute song, "The King is Gone" recently worked with Dolly Parton on her "Rockstar" album.
"Dolly called and wanted me to be the voice of Elvis on (her) new record, 'I Dream About Elvis,' McDowell said in a news release. "Man, I love that song. And when Dolly calls, you answer. It was so much fun, and we'll be performing that at the Saenger."
McDowell said country artist Brenda Lynn Allen will sing Parton's part.
"It will be something no one will ever forget, I’m sure," he said.
The show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets start at $25 and ar are available at hattiesburgsaenger.com or ticketmaster.com .

Dolly parton to launch alcoholic drinks range.
Country musician and entrepreneur Dolly Parton is launching a range of alcoholic beverages, according to reports.
According to The Sun , the singer has trademark in America, as well as the Intellectual Property Office in the UK, under “Parton Family Cellars”.
The UK application comes under a Class 33 trade mark, which covers alcoholic beverages but excludes beers, and is highlighted as wines, sparkling wines and Champagne.
Although Parton has admitted to not being much of a drinker herself, with alcoholism on both sides of her family, she has previously mentioned having he occasional drop to reporters.
Now the move looks to build on her already impressive business empire, which also includes a collection of dog treats dubbed “Doggy Parton”, her co-owned theme park Dollywood, her acting career and, of course, her long-term music career.
It is understood from the reports that Parton could be releasing the range of wines as early as this year, with the trade marked name “family cellars” hinting the venture could potentially include family members or perhaps a partnership with a wine estate.
A source told the The Sun : “Dolly is always looking at new ways to reach her audience and thought her own wine was a swell idea.
“She isn’t a huge drinker herself but she likes to have something special when she does fancy a tipple.
“She has been involved in developing the wine and is excited for it to hit the shelves.”
Previously Parton told the New York Times in the 1990s that she prefers red wine . “I don’t know too much about different kinds. But I know I like the kind that has a little of that dryish feeling at the end.”
In addition, she has highlighted that she drinks wine on the plane, when she gets nervous during turbulence. She told Kix TV : “I’d always drink some of the wine on the plane… I always call it…Summers Eve wine.”
“So I was drinking wine, my mama said, ‘I don’t like you drinkin’. I said, ‘Well mama, it’s just a little wine, I get nervous.’”
