We had such a great experience and a fabulous day on the Miami Beach Eden Guided E-Bike tour. Owners Mike and Lana were absoultely wonderful! We did the tour to celebrate my sister's birthday. The guided tour started at the Haulover Inlet in Bal Harbour along the "Miami Beachwalk" to South Pointe Park and back. The path is paved, and the views are like no other. Breathtaking sights of beach, iconic hotels, restaurants, shops and more! I highly recommend booking this tour with Mike and Lana at Back to Eden Bikes for locals and tourist! Your gonna love the experience and will want to do it again and again like me!!!

Piedmont Pleasures!

After this bike tour, we can hardly imagine touring most of Italy, or Europe, any other way than by bicycle. Stopping in small towns for simple mid-day lunch, riding by a tiny gelato shop and making a quick U-turn, and having a cappuccino among other a few local residents in an ancient town square were just a few of the experiences that allowed us to be part of the Piedmont region, not just tour through it. When we were on streets and road, off the bike trails, we found the drivers in the Piedmont region to be cautious and careful around us, giving us and our bikes as wide of berth as they could afford, including in the roundabouts and larger cities like Tourino and Asti. We're in decent biking shape but grape vines love hillsides so we're glad we selected e-bikes for this particular tour route. We didn't have any problems with the bikes or battery charging (though if you're a larger person, some of the longer riding days required some riders to keep their e-assist on lower levels to facilitate battery strength throughout the day as the Bosch batteries are half strength of what is available here in the US.) The map app with its corresponding daily route map made finding our way simple, and when we left the route for an interesting side-tour of our own (a wine stop!), it was easy to jump back on the route from where we were. You couldn't get lost using the map app.

Go when it is Sunny!

The sunny moments were heavenly, the hotels, food, wine all excellent. We went too late in the season (Oct 8-18) and the weather was mostly cool and rainy. Our few sunny breaks were heavenly, and if you go in September, you will do fine.

Tour de Romandie 2024 stages

The race starts with a very short 2.3km prologue which will be contested by the overall favorites, keen to install a pecking order early on, and the short TT specialists looking for a chance to gain a leaders jersey in a big stage race.

Stage one follows the next day and it’s a lumpy 165.7km from Château d’Oex to Fribourg which will likely end in a sprint finish, although there are very view big name sprinters on the start sheet.

Stage two is where the GC action will really kick off with two huge mountains and a summit finish at Salvan/Les Marécottes. This 10km final ascent, averaging 7.3%, has slopes maxing out at 14% so will be a proper test for the climbers.

Those same climbers will the next day have to take on the 15.5km continuously undulating time trial around Oron and utilise another skill needed to win a stage race.

Stage four from Saillon to Leysin is 151.7km and takes the riders into higher territory with five classified climbs including the 10km summit finish at the end.

After this the GC battle should be stitched up with just the laps around Vernier to contend with on the final stage which will likely end in a sprint.

Widing became the eighth-consecutive first-time winner this season, earning a playoff win over Steven Fisk and Patrick Cover after both players finished regulation tied on 20-under 264.

In the playoff, Cover was eliminated with a bogey 5 on the first playoff hole, and then Widing won with a par on the second playoff hole.

Luke Plapp targets Tour de Romandie on road to Giro d'Italia

Dunbar and Simon Yates in Jayco AlUla squad to take on Bernal, Mas, Vlasov, Gaudu, Hindley, Ayuso and more in Switzerland

Luke Plapp (Jayco AlUla)

The Tour de Romandie begins with a 2.28km prologue in Payerne on Tuesday, the start of six days of racing in Switzerland as the countdown to the Giro d'Italia also begins.

The WorldTour stage race features two summit finishes at Les Marécottes and Leysin, as well as a midweek 15.5km time trial in Oron and welcomes a wealth of top stage racers for the first stage race following the conclusion of the spring Classics season.

2023 winner Adam Yates is back to defend his title along with another top favourite in UAE Team Emirates teammate Juan Ayuso. Former winner Aleksandr Vlasov (Bora-Hansgrohe) is also on the startline, while other major names lining up to race include Egan Bernal (Ineos Grenadiers), and Enric Mas (Movistar).

Leading the way for Jayco-AlUla are a trio of riders in Simon Yates , Luke Plapp, and Eddie Dunbar, making up one of the strongest squads of the 23 starting the race.

Cyclingnews will have daily stage reports and news from the Tour de Romandie.

'I feel reborn' - Giulio Ciccone returns at Romandie after saddle sore surgery

Yates is looking to continue his comeback after an early season disrupted by illness, while Plapp is back in the saddle for the first time in over a month.

The Australian is preparing to take on the Giro d'Italia alongside Dunbar before preparing for the time trial and road race at the Paris Olympics. Dunbar's 2024 campaign was disrupted by a crash at the UAE Tour. He last raced at Itzulia Basque Country.

"I'm really looking forward to Romandie and to be able to race with both Simon and Eddie," Plapp said ahead of the race.

"All of us could be capable of a strong GC result so I think we can play off each other quite nicely. I've been in altitude since MiIan-San Remo building towards both Romandie and the Giro so I'm looking forward to seeing how my shape is heading into the Giro."

Plapp finished among the top 10 on his race debut here back in 2022 while Yates won a stage at Leysin on the way to finishing second overall back in 2017. Dunbar, meanwhile, finished ninth here last year.

"Romandie has always been a favourite race of mine," Plapp said.

"I had a great race in my first-year pro here and the region of Aigle where we race is one of my favourite places to ride a bike in the world. With Two TTs and the chance to wear the Aussie TT colours for the first time this year is also going to be great.

"I think with the team we have on paper we are hoping to be right up there in the GC ranks and have a few cards to play! I believe the tour will come down to the 15km stage four TT, so that will definitely be a focus for myself.

"With Simon as a leader and myself and Eddie there to play a big role of support and having some opportunities as well."

Plapp will be up there among the favourites to take the opening leader's jersey at the race during the short, flat prologue on Tuesday afternoon.

In addition to the Jayco-AlUla trio and those contenders listed above, other major GC names looking to start their race off well in Romandie include Groupama-FDJ pair David Gaudu and Lenny Martinez, Richard Carapaz (EF Education-EasyPost).

Julian Alaphilippe (Soudal Quick-Step) is back in action after riding the cobbled Classics with a micro fracture in his fibula head. Other big names to watch for include Jai Hindley (Bora-Hansgrohe), Tao Geoghegan Hart (Lidl-Trek), Damiano Caruso (Bahrain Victorious), and Carlos Rodríguez (Ineos Grenadiers).
