Sandwiched between a weekend of Third Eye Blind shows back in June, was an Amphitheater performance by none other than the beloved Train. I'm no stranger to their live shows. I've seen them everywhere from 20,000 capacity outdoor stadiums to Tropicana Field to intimate settings such as the Mahaffey Theatre for their Christmas Show last December. No matter the venue, Pat Monahan and company always seem to bring down the house.

Their most recent Tampa stop was no exception as Train played a set full of hits to a mostly filled Florida Central Credit Union Amphitheater. (Likely cause from tickets being on Groupon for $15) I missed out on openers Matt Nathanson and The Fray, but got my spot in the lawn just as Train hit the stage.

One of the reasons Train has survived and still has the ability to play such large venues after all these years is due to the vocal ability of Monahan. The singer is an absolute beast, focusing on the vocals and belting out line after line that carries well into the last few rows of lawn space. Pat's antics really make Train an entertaining band to see live. He departed into the crowd for a few songs and even invited audience members on stage to dance with him at different parts of the night.

The other main reason is that Train is a well oiled machine now that knows what the fans want to hear. They play materials from all seven of their studio albums, but they definitely focus on the hits. Even a causal music fan would be amazed with how many Train tunes they recognize. Not one of the greatest hits was missed on the evening, keeping the crowd loud and captivated for the full set duration.

Highlights for myself was poppy '50 Ways to Save Goodbye' right into 'If It's Love' to get the crowd going from the start, as well as honoring their early work with classics in 'Meet Virginia' and 'Drops of Jupiter.' I thought the best vocal performance of the night was hearing Pat sing his heart out on 'When I Look to the Sky.'

The fans were well satisfied throughout the set, and Train even threw in a series of familiar covers to mix things up. This included Aerosmith's 'Dream On' as part of a sing a long encore. Overall, there was no better place to be in Tampa that night for $15. Train is always sounding good and putting on a fun show. I know I'll be buying tickets next summer (or hopefully this winter) for their next stop in Florida.

Train was decent, not as good as they were last year when I saw them at The Ravinia in Highland Park, but decent. As usual, their performance was a very high energy one, which definitely made it enjoyable. However, in spite of that, the vocals and the instrumentation still left something to be desired.

They opened with one of their newer songs and initially the lead singer's voice sounded a little nasal and whiny. Fortunately, it got better as the show progressed. Even so, there were still a couple of rocky moments and at least one where I saw him pull his earpiece out so he could hear himself because he was off key.

As for the instrumentation, after hearing such great musicians at the Milwaukee Summer Fest, the band didn't really excite me or make me say ooh. While they weren't horrible, they weren't spectacular either. I did however, like the background singers. They sounded really good and they definitely added a much needed element to the show.

I also loved when they brought the kids from the audience onstage and let them dance during one of the songs. That was awesome and I love the fact that Train's show is one that you can bring a kid to without having to be concerned that they'll see or hear something they shouldn't. Therefore, in spite of my various caveats about this particular performance, I won't rule out seeing them again because they still have great songs, they always give you a good show and in spite of my caveats, I still had a good time.

I first saw Train in concert in 2006 and I loved every minute of it. This is exactly my type of music. It isn't too hard, yet it makes you feel pretty good about things going on around you.

I especially love Pat's acoustic version of Drops of Jupiter. I really like when they play that one on a show. There's something really honest about simple guitar pieces – it really shows off a person's talent, as it does with this piece by Train.

That said, it's also really fun when Pat suddenly whips out a megaphone to sing "I Got You". I like how they seem so comfortable with their music. The audience really got into it when "Save Me San Francisco" was performed. The audience was part of the song, and were made to sing part of the song. This was a really fun part of the show. The audience really got into the show at this point.

I went to my last Train show with a few people that weren't really familiar with Train, but as the show went on, they really seemed to be having a good time and getting into the music. You just couldn't help yourself.

Train have a way of just making you feel like you wanted to join in. I will definitely go to another concert by Train this year, they're touring pretty hard at the moment. I think the 'nonbelievers' that were with me would also immediately agree to going to another concert!

Saw OAR, James Bay and Train this past Wednesday at the Hammerstein Ballroom. During the beginning of James Bay's set that there were not enough speakers to fully fill the space, but they figured out how to fix that audio by the end of the show. James Bay - Let it Go brought chills. He is so so great live - and even more talented of a live performer than he is a recorded artist. Extremely talented guitar player, and integrated rock with his adaption of Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Proud Mary.' The night ended with Train - they were... AMAZING. Patrick Monahan has such a stage presence and was nothing but smiles the entire night. The set list was so on point, and even included an appearance from Matt Nathanson. They finished with Hey Soul Sista and Drops of Jupiter.

Pat and the boys at a nice small venue, support was adequate and appropriate for the band

Train played All their best from the back catalogue plus a selection from the tour titled album

Saving the top tune for the encore

A great mix of old and new with Pat interactive with the mixed audience...

Extremely warm especially once everyone started bopping and singing although some breeze eventually started to drift through

Drinks prices were extortionate and the empty plastic glasses caused more issues once discarded on the floor ...concession and security were efficient and friendly ... Park next door .., pre book and save a few quid

Twenty minute walk to the quod along the canal for some pre concert food

I had the best time at this concert. Train performed a couple of covers (awesome!), a few new tunes, and their greatest hits! Pat was a consummate showman and the band was exceedingly talented! I took my parents (very young 63 and 64) for their 45th anniversary! Train is one of their all-time favorite bands and it was an absolute treat to share this experience with them. They drove up from Nashville to see them with me in Columbia.

Thank you to Train for such a wonderful performance! You guys are tremendously talented and put on a fabulous show!!!

Thank you Songkick for alerting me to this concert and making this experience possible for myself and my family!

Train was Awesome. Pat is such an amazing and talented artist. From taking probably 100+ selfies with fans while singing on stage, to him and all the band autographing a Train t-shirt and tossing it into the crowd, the entire evening was one of the best concert experiences of my life. I love when they do covers of other groups songs. Tonight Train did "With a Little Help From My Friends" and Pat brought out Isaac Slade (The Fray) and Matt Nathanson to sing with him. Best version of that song I've heard. Can't say enough good things about Train, from the band to their music, to attending live concerts. They are the best.

This was my 8th Train concert..their concerts are unbelievabley amazing. Pat (lead singer) makes you feel like hes performing just for you. He does an amazing job connecting with the crowd. Every Train concert I've been to has improved emensly. I doubt you will go to any concert and get the same interaction. Mostly every concert I've been to, have gotten something out of it. It's either a signed t-shirt, a t-shirt he threw into the crowd and I caught, a signed beach ball, a picture with him or even going up on stage. The experience you will encounter at a Train concert is unforgettable.

The show was excellent! no down time! great interaction with audience! Great music it was a really fun time! would say a must see! Even with it being so hot out the entire band really went all out on stage train played for about an hour and a half. Matt Nathanson, and the singer for fray joined in on the song with a little help from my friends! It was excellent! Also enjoyed the rendition of Dream on by Aerosmith! During the encore!

This is the hands down best band! Not only do they have a amazing music, but the lead has the other members sing different songs as well! That is a great secure band lead! He always includes the fans in concert and it is very deliberate you can tell its not staged. I will always follow them and their amazing concert Venus. Thanks Train you are officially my favorite band. If you knew my obsession with music..that's saying a lot!

Multi-Grammy award-winning band Train have finally announced they’ll be returning to the UK on tour, almost seven years since their last British-based gig.

The ‘Hey, Soul Sister’ artists’ latest international tour, titled ‘I Know, It’s Been A Long Time Coming’, will be visiting 10 cities in 2024 and will kick off in April at Manchester’s O2 Apollo.

Train will then play at The Halls Wolverhampton, the O2 Academy in Glasgow, and finally at London’s Royal Albert Hall on 30th April.

Celebrating the band’s return to playing shows in the United Kingdom, its frontman Pat Monahan said: “We are absolutely thrilled to return to the UK for the first time in seven years.”

“Fans over there have supported us throughout our career and we can’t wait to see them all again,” he continued, before adding: “And to get the chance to perform at the legendary Royal Albert Hall for the first time is an absolute honour.”

Train have been touring the US this year after the release of their 11th studio album AM Gold in May 2022.

More recently they also released a new song, ‘I Know’, which features both Tenille Townes and Bryce Vine.

The band were formed in 1994 and have since sold more than 10 million albums worldwide.

Their line-up currently consist of Pat on lead vocals, Hector Maldonado on bass and vocals, Jerry Becker on keyboards and vocals, Taylor Locke on guitar and vocals, Matt Musty on drums, and Sakai Smith and Nikita Houston both as backup vocals.

Following their four UK tour dates, Train will travel to mainland Europe in order to perform in Brussels, Tilburg, Hamburg and Sønderborg. They will then be travelling to South Africa in order to play in both Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Joining the band on tour will be the two-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Ilsey.

Tickets for Train’s international tour will go on pre-sale on 20th September at 10am local time. Sales for the general public will begin two days later on Friday, 22nd September, also at 10am local time.

Train announce first UK tour in seven years

They play four headline shows

Fresh from playing a gargantuan 50-date tour across the US, Train have announced a headline UK tour for April 2024.

The ‘Drops of Jupiter’ hitmakers open their first UK tour in seven years at Manchester O2 Apollo on Friday 26th April 2024 and visit Wolverhampton The Halls and Glasgow O2 Academy before concluding at London Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday 30th April.

Following the UK dates, Train's 'I Know, It's Been A Long Time Coming' tour will travel through cities in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark before concluding in South Africa on 11th May.

Tickets to the quartet of UK concerts go on sale from Absolute Radio Tickets at 10am on Friday 22nd September.

Commenting on the tour, Train frontman Pat Monahan enthuses: “We are absolutely thrilled to return to the UK for the first time in seven years.

“Fans over there have supported us throughout our career and we can’t wait to see them all again. And to get the chance to perform at the legendary Royal Albert Hall for the first time is an absolute honour.”

Since their inception in 1994, Train have sold more than 10 million albums and 30 million singles worldwide.

Alongside their ubiquitous smash ‘Drops of Jupiter’, other hits they’ve scored in the UK include ‘Drive By’ and ‘Hey, Soul Sister.’

The band line-up features Pat Monahan (lead vocals), Hector Maldonado (bass, vocals), Jerry Becker (keyboards, vocals), Taylor Locke (guitar, vocals), Matt Musty (drums), Sakai Smith (backup vocals), and Nikita Houston (backup vocals).

Train’s UK tour dates:

Manchester O2 Apollo – Fri 26th

Wolverhampton The Halls – Sat 27th

Glasgow O2 Academy – Sun 28th

Five Finger Death Punch

After watching Quentin Tarantino's 2004 martial arts classic Kill Bill: Volume 2, the Las Vegas metallers toyed with calling themselves Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique in homage to the character Pai Mei's fearsome killing technique. Although fascinated with the concept, former drummer Jeremy Spencer told Michigan Live in 2013: "That didn't sound cool. So, we changed it to Five Finger Death Punch."

THE LIKES OF US TOUR - EUROPE 2024 / 2025

Big Big Train are delighted to announce 12 shows to take place in September and October 2024 in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway. At these performances the seven piece band will be promoting their forthcoming The Likes Of Us album, their first for the InsideOut label, which will be released on 1 st March 2024. Lead vocalist Alberto Bravin says: “We’re really looking forward to getting back on the road this autumn around the UK and Europe. Following the success of last year’s The Journey Continues tour, we can’t wait to do it all again. On this tour in autumn we will be playing a significant amount of The Likes Of Us as well as some Big Big Train classics and a few surprises.” Drummer Nick D’Virgilio adds: “Last year’s Big Big Train shows were so much fun. We made some changes to the set list every night. It was very challenging but it kept things fresh for both us and the audience, so we’re going to take a similar approach on this tour to make every show genuinely unique.” Bassist Gregory Spawton continues: “For this tour we’ve decided to return to some of our favourite venues. But we were also keen to return to Wales for the first time since 2019 and get back to the north east and north west of England as well as visiting some parts of the country where Big Big Train hasn’t played before. While some fans travel vast distances to see us live, we recognise that others aren’t able to do so and therefore we’re trying to bring the show to them.” Guitarist Rikard Sjöblom concludes: “In an ideal world, we would play everywhere! Scheduling is always challenging and so while we couldn’t organise a Swedish show this time around, I’m delighted that we will be performing in Oslo and Copenhagen again for my fellow Scandinavians. And I’m particularly looking forward to our weekend at the Boerderij where we plan to play two very different shows.”

Tickets for all shows go on sale at 10am UK/11am central European time on Friday 9th Februar y. A pre-sale open to members of the band’s Passengers Club for all shows except Copenhagen, Oslo and Zoetermeer opens at 10am UK/11am central European time on Thursday 8th February . The pre-sale for Whitley Bay opens at 5pm on Thursday 8th February .

We will release our 15 th studio album ‘ The Likes Of Us ’ on 1 st March 2024.

Besides marking the debut of our new frontman Alberto Bravin, ‘The Likes Of Us’ also heralds the beginning of our new relationship with InsideOutMusic, having self-released our music for almost two decades.

We are delighted to announce the release of ‘The Likes Of Us’. After the events of the last few years, this is a particularly important album for us, both as a band and individually. We’re very proud of the new songs, which we recorded principally in a studio in Italy. Working together in one room brought additional inspiration, real energy and a clear sense of purpose. We’re thrilled with the results.

‘The Likes Of Us’ will be released on several different formats, including for the first time as Dolby Atmos and 5.1 mix by The Pineapple Thief’s Bruce Soord , while the stereo mixes were undertaken by the band’s regular engineer Rob Aubrey and Alberto Bravin. The Dolby Atmos mix will come as part of the Limited CD & Blu-ray Mediabook edition that also contains the album as 5.1 Surround Sound & 24-bit high-resolution stereo. The album will also be available as a Gatefold 180g 2LP (available in black, sky blue, olive green and orange formats), Standard CD Jewelcase and Digital Album. The stunning artwork was created by the band’s longstanding collaborator Sarah Louise Ewing, with layouts by Steve Vantsis.

Big Big Train announce live dates for Autumn 2023

August and September live dates give many Big Big Train fans first chance to see Oskar Holldorff and Maria Barbieri perform with the band

Big Big Train

UK prog rockers  Big Big Train  have announced a run of live dates in the Netherlands, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Switzerland and the UK. The tour will take place in August and September 2023 - full dates below - in support of the forthcoming Ingenious Devices album, which will be released on June 30. You can watch a tour trailer video below.

The band had previously announced a headline appearance at Italy's 2 Days + 1 Festival in Italy on September 2. The shows will give many fans their first chance to see keyboard player and singer Oskar Holldorff, who recently replaced Carly Bryant , as well as Italian guitarist Maria Barbieri , who was announced as a stand-in for Dave Foster, due to the latter's prior commitments in September with the Steve Rothery Band. The Big Big Train brass ensemble, led by trombonist Dave Desmond, will perform at all shows.

“It was a major challenge but an absolute thrill to play the shows last year as part of Big Big Train," says Holldorf, whose own band Dim Gray will once again act as support band on the live dates. "Having now joined the band as a permanent member, I’m looking forward enormously to being tested to my musical limits once more.”

“I have been campaigning for a long time for Big Big Train to come to Sweden, so I am really pleased that we’re bringing the band for the first time not only to my home country for two shows but also to play two other dates in Denmark and Norway,": adds Rikard Sjöblom. "I hope the Scandinavian prog fans will come out in force to see us live!”

Tickets for all shows go on sale at 10am UK/11am central European time on Friday February 10.
