Cruise itinerary

Our shuttle bus will pick you up between 7:5am and 8:15am, taking you on a 3.5 hour ride to Halong Bay. Arrive at Paloma Office in Ha Long City at 12:30 and quickly transfer to Paloma Cruise and enjoy welcome drink.

The lunch time is delighted with a delicious Vietnamese set menu while the boat is cruising toward Bai Tu Long Bay, passing Hon Gai and Cam Pha Town, Oan Lagoon, Mat Quy (Monster Face) Island, Am Tich Islet and then stop at Thien Canh Son Cave. Enjoy exploring the cave for 1 hour then have plenty of time for swimming and sunbathing on Hon Co island.

In the late afternoon, anchor at Cong Dam area for sunset party, sumptuous dinner and overnight on board with a wide range of entertainments: board games, massage services, dancing, etc.

Begin a new day with much inspiration by joining in morning Tai Chi class on the sundeck while complimentary tea and coffee are served.

Arrive at Vung Vieng fishing village at 08:30am via bamboo sampan. Come back to the boat and pack up your luggage in about 30 minutes. Enjoy set menu lunch in the dining room and relax and capture the last pieces of Ha Long Bay before the cruise arrives at Hon Gai Harbor at 11:30. Get on our car/van and travel back to Hanoi.

At 8:00AM, Blue Dragon Tour’s bus or private car pick you up at your hotel for a 3.5 hours drive to Ha Long (transfer not included in cabin price). Arrivet at Paloma Office in Ha Long City at 12:30 and quickly transfer to Paloma Cruise and enjoy welcome drink.

The lunch time is delighted with a delicious Vietnamese set menu while the boat is cruising toward Bai Tu Long Bay, passing Hon Gai and Cam Pha Town, Oan Lagoon, Mat Quy (Monster Face) Island, Am Tich Islet and then stop at Thien Canh Son Cave. Explore the cave by hiking and later move to a nearby area for kayaking.

Get up early to contemplate the great view of the sunrise over the Bay and take part in Tai Chi session on the sundeck. Enjoy a light breakfast while the ship is sailing through beautiful places such as Trong (Drum) Cave, Trinh Nu (Virgin Cave), Coc Ngoi (Toad) Islet, etc. Transfer to day boat and visit untouched parts of Ha Long Cap La Area. Kayaking through lagoon at Geological park  in Capla Area. Enjoy lunch (beach/ boat as weather allows).

Continue discovering the the most remote area. More time for kayaking around the magnifient karsts of the Bay.

It was a great cruise and value for money. Positives: relaxing bed, powerful shower, flexible schedule that you do not have to join all activities if you don’t want. Negatives: wifi connection was weak, the rooms needed better maintenance, I had to share tables with other guests too. If you seek something cozy and tranquil, you should definitely choose this Paloma cruise!

Paloma Cruise was comfortable and lovely. The seas on the day we cruised were a little bit rough and I was at first quite tired after transferring from Hanoi. But everything was nice on board and the price was reasonable too. Meals were okay. We had pancakes, eggs, a lot of fruit,... for breakfast. Lunch and dinner were more delicious. Making spring roll classes were fun too and the instructor was very calm, funny, and talented. Overall, we really enjoyed our trip!

It was my 28th birthday when I joined the cruise and it was truly memorable. Nature was magnificent at its best and so was the weather. Paloma staff were friendly and attentive. We loved the cave tour as well as kayaking. I took a 1-day tour and it was a little short. I really wish I would have expanded it to 2 days.

I would highly recommend this cruise, especially to the elderly as it was really tranquil, relaxing, and the staff were really thoughtful. Meals were catered to my diet requests as well. We listened to classical music while on board, went for a walk on a serene island, had great drinks,... The rooms were cozy too. I will definitely come back some day.

Our 2-day cruise included caving, kayaking (the best part), and boat rowing in a fishing village too. I loved Vietnamese seafood. The downside was that my A/C ran quite noisily and sometimes unresponsive. Also the wifi connection was slow. But the staff were so supportive and activities were so much fun.

We traveled with our 1-year baby for 2 days on the Paloma Cruise. Clean cabins, delicious food, stunning bays, and lovely crew. Though two of our family could not join kayaking, we stayed on board and relaxed too. I loved it because the cruise schedule was flexible and could be changed to meet our requirements, especially for the baby. It was a very nice ship, highly recommended!

We were so happy to see Bai Tu Long Bay with Paloma. There were so many other boats but we loved this cruise for its hospitality, coziness, and well-planned schedule. However, the food was average to us and the room was good but nothing special. The whole trip was totally worth the price!

My wife and I spent 1 night on the cruise for our Honeymoon and we were surprised by how large and beautiful our room was, Vietnamese food was delicious and the views were incredible. We took so many lovely photos. The visit to the caves was amazing as the scenery was so impressive, kayaking was fun, and squid fishing was captivating. The staff were so lovely and they even prepared a surprise cake to congratulate us on our wedding. That was so sweet of them! Thank you for this perfect vacation!

• The room rate does not include bus transfer or private car. The bus or private car picks up the guests from hotels located in Hanoi Old Quarter Area or some hotels near Westlake. The pickup time at hotels in Hanoi Old Quarter is at between 7:30 AM - 8:00 AM, at hotels in Westlake is at between 7:10 AM - 7:30 AM. Outside this area, the guests will be picked up at Paloma Office (3rd floor, 37 Le Van Huu Street, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi). The drop off time at hotels after cruise finishes is at 4:30 PM - 5:00 PM every day.
• Bus transfer or private car transfer is subjected to extra charges. Guests are required to provide the hotel name, address and contact number in Hanoi at least 24 hours in advance for the pick-up service. Please contact the cruise in order to be arranged pick-up service. The property provides round trip shuttle bus service between Hanoi and Halong at an additional charge. We were so pleasantly surprised by how luxurious this cruise was - wish we had booked for longer! Travelled mid week so only 14 people for a 40 capacity cruise. Staff were so lovely and attentive. The food was excellent, 5 course lunch followed by a delicious buffet in the evening which included grilled oysters and clams. Really well planned itinerary and other amenities such as a small spa (massages were excellent) and cinema room. Would recommend to anyone and amazing value for money.

I took the Eva Cruise in mid January and while the weather was cold, the boat and activities were very nice and well planned. The manager and staff were outstanding, very friendly and professional. 7:45 – 8:00  Be picked up at your hotel by our bus or private car.

12:30  Arrive at Paloma office, Halong City and then be transferred by tender to Paloma Cruise before enjoying welcome drinks. Receive cruise briefing, check in cabins and start off your cruise.

13:30  Have lunch with delicious Vietnamese set menu (Massage service is available after lunch and throughout the tour).

15:00  Head to Bai Tu Long Bay, pass the towns of Hon Gai and Cam Pha, Oan Lagoon, Monster Head and Teapot Islets and Vung Vieng fishing village.

Visit the Vung Vieng floating fishing village by a bamboo sampan for an hour or Kayak in to the village then return to Paloma Cruise for your leisure or Join one of the following optional activities including sunbathing, traditional massage, swimming etc.

18:00  Drop anchor in the calm water surrounded by islets near Hang Trong.

Join Happy Hour with a Sunset party.

18:30  Join a Vietnamese cooking demonstration on boat.

19:15  Enjoy a sumptuous set-dinner onboard.

21:00  Relax on your cabin or join the on board activities such as film entertainment, light music for dancing in the dining room (please book in advance with your tour guide), board games and playing cards are available, and massage services are available. Passengers may also try their luck at squid fishing from the boat.

06:15  Start your day with Tai Chi on the Sundeck while complimentary tea & coffee are served.

07:00  Have breakfast in the dining room.

08:00  Explore the Surprise Cave (Hang Sung Sot).

08:15  Be transferred by tender to the Surprise Cave. Walk up about 100 steps to the cave entrance and tour the cave for approximately 45 minutes and then walk down about 100 steps and return to the boat.

10:00  Upon return to the boat you will have 30 minutes to freshen up and finish packing. Please remove all of your belongings from your cabin, you may leave heavy luggage outside of the cabin (staff will transfer directly to the pier).

10:30  Enjoy menu set for lunch in the dining room. We will settle bills after lunch.  Relax on the sundeck or in the dining room, enjoy the rest of Halong bay before getting back to harbor are also highlights in this cruise tour.

11:45  Arrive at Hon Gai Harbor. Be transferred by tender to the pier before getting on van or car back to Hanoi.

17:00 Arrive in Hanoi

7:30 - 8:00: You will be picked up at your hotel in the center of Hanoi by shuttle bus or private car.

12:30: Arrive at Paloma cruise's office in Halong City, then board the cruise.

13:30: Have lunch on board and enjoy the wild beauty of Bai Tu Long Bay.

• If being cancelled during the trip (customers have already used certain services: transfer, lunch, day trip, hotel in Halong,...): count the actual fees will be charged
• If being cancelled when the customers spend 1st night + 2nd day activities on the day cruise until 3:00 - 5:00 pm will be charged 75% of the package for 3 days 2 nights.

• Cruise schedule is subject to change depending on weather, tides, and other conditions. Other excursions may be canceled due to bad weather. Unused services will be refunded.
• Meals on board can be: Vietnamese dishes, seafood.... Guests should note the specific requirements of the dish (if any), allergies, other dietary requirements at least. 1 day before departure.
• Customers who book in advance need to fill in their full name, date of birth, nationality, gender, passport number, visa expiration date.
• Port authorities give priority to pre-registration with information such as full name, gender, date of birth, nationality, and passport number. A valid passport is required.
• Leave bulky luggage at the hotel or the Paloma train office in Hanoi.
• Cruise booking on public holidays may incur additional fees according to cruise policy.

Policy for Children

• Children under 4 years old are allowed to stay with their parents in 1 cabin (no extra blanket). The second child will lose 25% more.
• Children from 4-11 years old will be charged 50% of the adult rate if sharing bed with parents. If using 1 more single bed, it will be charged 75% of the adult rate.
• 2 children under 12 years old need to stay in a private cabin and will be charged 75% of the adult rate.
• Children 12 years and older will be charged as adults.

7:00 - Have breakfast after that you will visit Vung Vieng Fishing Floating Village to discover the daily life of the fisher community by sampan boat (about 1 hour). After that take a short walk to the Pearl Farm to learn how they raise up and collect pearls.

9:00 - Return to the boat and prepare to pack your luggage.

9:45 - Check out the cabin and return to dining room to join cooking demonstration after that.

10:30 -  Enjoy the Brunch while we are cruising back to the harbour. 

11:30 - Disembark from Paloma Cruise and get on the bus to return to your hotel in Hanoi.

Captain Corey has loved the ocean since he can remember. He was born in Laguna Beach and got his Captain’s License when he was a young man of 19. He’s been on the water ever since, sharing and educating locals and visitors on the marine life here in Dana Point.

He loves both whale watching and fishing equally, especially when there are first-timers or kids on board. Captain Corey enjoys catching Calico Bass because it takes skill and finesse. There are several ways to fish Calico Bass and they can be caught year round here in Dana Point.

Since being a member of the Dana Wharf team of Captains, Captain Corey has a lot of good memories, but perhaps the most memorable was hosting the world’s tallest man on a whale watching trip. “His shoes were as big as many of the fish we catch,” explained the Captain.

Captain Todd Mansur

Director of marine mammal education programs.

Captain Todd was born in Laguna Beach and for the past 32 years has had a career on the ocean. Through a variety of experiences he has had the opportunity to observe hundreds of different marine species, both fish and mammals.

At the impressionable age of 13 he was the only crew member for a 20 passenger operation that fished during the spring, summer, and fall. During the winter he crewed for a whale watching operation. This early exposure to Mother Ocean had a huge impact on Todd.

In 1992 Captain Todd became Dana Wharf Whale Watching’s lead naturalist and conducts all of the pre-excursion in-classroom education for Orange County’s schools. This is also a major role for Todd as a Board Member of the Gray Whale Foundation.

Todd does pubic speaking engagements on the topic upon request. Todd worked as a writer, editor and photographer for the film “Sharing the Shores off Dana Point: A Whale and Dolphin Exploration.”

Paloma Beach in Cap Ferrat: Everything You Need to Know

Looking for the best beach clubs in the French Riviera? Paloma Beach in St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat is one of the most beautiful beach clubs on the coast!

Growing up in the south of France was truly a special experience and I love going back to visit in the summer when I can! Each time I visit, I try to check out new places… including trying out new beach clubs.  

Because spending the day at a beach club is a must on the French Riviera!

On my most recent trip to the Côte d’Azur, I visited Paloma Beach for the first time and thought it one of the more unique beach club locations in the area.

Here’s everything you need to know about visiting Paloma Beach in St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat!

About Paloma Beach

Paloma Beach is a beautiful beach located in the south of France, specifically in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, which is a small peninsula in the French Riviera.  

The Cap Ferrat peninsula is home to some of the most beautiful villas in the Cote d’Azur, including the Villa Ephussi de Rothschild, as well as the famed Grand-Hotel du Cap-Ferrat. Throughout the summer, the sea surrounding the peninsula is a popular place to spot luxury yachts from all over the world.

Paloma Beach is a rocky beach with both a public area and the Paloma Beach club and restaurant.

Paloma Beach is known for its crystal-clear turquoise waters and stunning views. The beach overlooks the sparkling bay of Beaulieu-sur-Mer and the adjacent mountain range – a very unique setting on this coastline!

It truly is one of the most spectacular views from any beach club in the south of France.

How to Get to Paloma Beach

Tucked away on the Cap Ferrat peninsula between Villefranche-sur-Mer and Beaulieu-sur-Mer, there are a few ways to get to Paloma Beach.

Driving to Paloma Beach was very easy!  We drove from Nice which took about 20 minutes and we were able to find a street parking spot about a block away from the beach. Be aware that street parking can be tight so it’s best to go with a small car and be prepared to parallel park. 

If you have reservations at Paloma Beach, you can coordinate a ride on their calessino shuttle to pick you up from one of the public parking lots on the peninsula!

From Nice, you can take bus number 81 to the port of Saint Jean Cap Ferrat and use the walking path to reach the beach club in about 10 minutes. While the bus takes about an hour, there are some lovely views along the way.

It’s possible to take the train to either Villefranche-sur-Mer or Beaulieu sur Mer and then hop on the bus number 15 to take you to Saint-Jean-Capt-Ferrat. This could save some time (vs. taking the bus the entire route) depending on where you’re coming from.

Paloma Beach Club

The beach club at Paloma Beach offers sun loungers and beds, as well as towels and umbrellas on a section of private beach. 

It’s open every day during the high season from May through the end of September making it an ideal destination in the summer months.

Although, I visited in late September and felt like it was a good time to visit as the weather was still very warm but it wasn’t overly crowded.

The place has a chic and buzzy vibe and it’s definitely one of the most popular beach clubs in the area! As such, it’s important to make a reservation for loungers at the beach club in advance, especially during summer season and on weekends.  

I went without a reservation and got super lucky when they had a last minute cancellation. Definitely don’t make my mistake — call to make a reservation in advance to guarantee your day at the beach club!

While at the beach club, guests can order food and drinks from the restaurant directly to their sun loungers. 

Because what’s better than a glass of rosé on the beach?

Along with swimming and sunbathing, the beach club offers stand-up paddle board rentals for €15 for a half hour or €25 for an hour. In addition, they can set up water sports like jet skiing, water skiing, parasailing or hydro-foil through their partner, Cap Ferrat WaterSport. And note that a lifeguard is also on duty during the high season!

Pro Tip: consider packing water shoes as the beach is made up of fine pebbles that can get quite hot in the summer.

Is Paloma Beach free? The public area of the beach is free to visit! So, if you want to bring your bath towels, umbrella and pack a picnic, it’s the perfect beach spot to do so.

On the other hand, the Paloma Beach Club offers sun loungers for €50 per day, €7 for an umbrella and €8 for a towel. Private cabins are available for €15 for the day.

And don’t fret about having all cash on hand because they accept credit card as well!

Paloma Beach Club Restaurant

You know how some restaurants have such an incredible view or location that they don’t need to put much effort into their food or service? Well, that’s not the case at Paloma Beach restaurant!

The restaurant has an upscale yet beachy feel to it and the menu features Mediterranean cuisine like fresh seafood, salads and pastas. There are also some premium items like fresh truffle that you can add on.

I was incredibly impressed by my goat cheese salad (Salade de Chêvre Chaud) and ceviche. Not only was the fish very fresh but the flavors used were really unique and super delicious! 

Our group also really enjoyed the risotto which seemed to be a very popular dish there.

Villefranche-sur-Mer

If you’re planning a visit to Paloma Beach, why not stop at Villefranche-sur-Mer on the way? Just 10 minutes away is this charming and colorful town along the sea!

One of the highlights of Villefranche-sur-Mer is its stunning bay, which is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. The bay is surrounded by hills and dotted with colorful buildings, creating a picture-perfect setting for swimming, sunbathing, and boating. 

And, it’s a different viewpoint from Paloma Beach since it’s on the other side of the St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat peninsula!

The Old Town of Villefranche-sur-Mer is known for its narrow streets, colorful houses, and lively squares. Visitors can explore the town’s historic sites, such as the 16th-century Saint Elme Citadel and the Chapel of Saint-Pierre, which dates back to the 14th century.

Where to Stay in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat & Villefrance-sur-Mer

Looking for the best hotels in Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat and Villefrance-sur-Mer? Here are some of my top picks!

• Hotel La Fiancée du Pirate : Overlooks the bay of Villefranche-sur-Mer, and features a swimming pool and comfortable rooms.
• Welcome Hotel : Located in Villefranche-sur-Mer, the Welcome Hotel has a prime location and sea views at a reasonable price point.
• Hotel Royal Riviera : We stopped here for lunch and loved the patio, pool area, and sea views. Definitely a glamorous and luxurious vibe!
• Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat : This resort is an icon of Cap Ferrat! It’s a Four Seasons property and has all the luxurious amenities and five star service that one would expect from them.

Overall, Paloma Beach is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to the French Riviera. Its stunning scenery, clear waters, and delicious seafood make it a perfect place to relax and enjoy the beauty of the Mediterranean. And, it’s now a favorite beach club of mine to visit in the south of France!

I didn’t use a private cabin while I was there but I believe this is a locker where you can store stuff for the day.

Hi! We are going to Paloma beach in September! Should I go ahead and make reservations for our Lou get? Is the only way to do it call? Hopefully they speak a little English!? Thank you!?

Hi Alise, Yep, for sunbeds, I would call and make a reservation (+33 4 93 01 64 71) as they can get quite busy! They do speak English 🙂 They don’t take reservations for lunch at the restaurant but you can walk-in and put your name down (12 – 4pm). For dinner, you can make reservations on their website or give them a ring. Hope that helps!
