WACO & MAGNOLIA MARKET TRIP

Tour the silos, magnolia market & waco with detours.

Take a real Austin Detour with us to Waco, Texas, hometown of HGTV’s “Fixer Upper” Chip and Joanna Gaines. Waco is about a 90 minute drive from Austin, and we’ll keep you entertained along the way with fun games and narrative. Upon arrival, our first stop is the Magnolia Market by Joanna Gaines to shop for vintage and refurbished household items in her unique fashion. You’ll have plenty of time to explore and grab lunch at one of the market’s many food trucks (at your own expense). In the afternoon, we take you around Waco to get to know this historic town. Home to Dr. Pepper and Baylor University, you can bet it has a rich history. Or skip the tour for more time to explore Market Square on your own. Either way, it’s a one of a kind experience!

Hit the road with Detours for your next Waco trip!

We were in Austin for a week and wanted a day trip to Waco. This was without a doubt the best way to see Waco. Since there were only two of us we were able to customize what we really wanted to see. Of course, Magnolia Market. The Dr. Pepper museum was fun and interesting. Then Ashley said we would stop at Buccees on the way back. We were intrigued as we had “heard” about Buccees but never thought we would actually see one. It was amazing! Save time for this gem of a stop. Taj Mahal bathrooms, Beaver Nuggets, slushees so big you need two hands to hold them and so much more. Magnolia is great but the real highlight was Ashley and Buccees! Best. Day. Ever

We took a quick weekend getaway for my wife’s 50th Birthday with a few family members to Austin, TX. We had booked several tours around the city, but I must shoutout one of the best guides (If Not the Best) I’ve had on any tour…Jax.

We had a fantastic day. Best way to see Magnolia and the other landmarks in Waco! Our tour guide Elisa was amazing!!!! Will definitely use Austin Detours for our next excursion when in town!

We are here on a girls trip to Austin and Waco for the entire Fixer Upper experience. My mom, aunt, cousin, and family friends enjoyed this tour so much!

Magnolia Plantation & Gardens

History comes to life beneath the oaks at Magnolia Plantation & Gardens! Tour our beautiful gardens today, with the Lowcountry's most stunning scenery providing the backdrop for the perfect day. Garden admission grants exclusive access to 66 sprawling acres of ancient trees, many of which have been growing on site since their original planting in the 1840s – as deeply rooted as the generations of local families who came before.

Enjoy a stroll along the river walk before stopping at the Wildlife Center. Get a unique peek at critters not easily spotted in their natural habitats, many of which have been rescued and rehabilitated.

Join us on our guided "From Slavery to Freedom" tour, where history comes to life before your eyes. Learn about those who designed, cultivated, and maintained the gardens over the centuries, first as enslaved workers and then eventually as paid garden staff. 350 years of history awaits, beginning when Magnolia was a working rice plantation and progressing to its debut as a public garden.

The Magnolia House tour is another must-see, offering an overview of family life from 1870 and 1975. Once your living history lesson has concluded, climb aboard the nature train to traverse Magnolia's wetlands, forests, marsh, and swamp. While chugging along, you'll learn about native species, as well as the history of rice cultivation and phosphate mining. Keep an eye out for alligators, turtles, and birds – from swamp grass to sky and everywhere in between.

Your appetite for adventure is sure to be satisfied, but if you're craving a cold drink or bite to eat, head over to the Peacock Café. Our mouthwatering menu features sandwiches, soups, and salads – plus, tasty treats and beverages! Fuel up, then check out the Audubon Swamp Garden, home to thousands of plant and animal species. Travel the boardwalks and bridges to truly immerse yourself, with egrets and herons nesting nearby.

While we've provided the broad strokes of what our gardens have to offer, words can never fully capture all there is to love about this Lowcountry gem. Whether you're visiting with a group or soaking in the solitude, our team is here to help you make the most of your visit. About: waco sightseeing tour.

Waco is a must on any tour of Texas. From Cameron Park hills to the Magnolia Market at the Silos, this town is an incredible destination. What to expect? This is a full-day excursion, Waco is about one and a half hours from Dallas or Fort Worth (it could be a little longer with traffic). The perfect time to start the tours is in the morning. After the Magnolia Market stop, we will continue our journey thru Downtown on our way to Cameron Park.

Adventure Sightseeing

We enjoyed a lovely, relaxing 90 minute tour of Charleston Harbor. The Captain was entertaining and besides all of the wonderful history, he offered a few trivia questions to keep us on our toes. We especially liked the way the chairs in the below deck were facing the huge window, so we didn't miss any photo opportunities.

This is about the 3rd or 4th time we have taken a tour in Charleston by different means. This tour was the best of any due to the excellent narrative by Shawn. We were so impressed by his unbelievable memory of dates and names and the running commentary for nearly and hour and a half. Shawn was very pleasant, friendly and funny too. The bus was comfortable and cool, much better than riding in a horse-driven carriage in the heat with flies. Also I believe we covered more miles than the horse and carriage did.

A great way to tour Charleston and see many things you would not have known about or thought about visiting. The tour guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. I definitely recommend the tour.

We thoroughly enjoyed our bus tour with Shawn as our guide. He is knowledgeable & oh so amusing. We only have a day & a half in the Holy City & we felt we learned so much from this trip. We understand so much about the houses, neighborhoods, churches & history of this fantastic 8 mile square peninsula from hopping on this comfy air conditioned bus. We are older & could never have gotten to all these unbelievable & lovely places on our own in such a short amount of time. If you want more than seafood & bars, please, take this tour. Totally worth every penny.

Took advantage of the ability to tour the Magnolia Plantation without having a car to get us there. Alan was our tour guide. He's one of the better tour guides we had during our visit. Very knowledgeable and to-the-point. The tour itself was well-organized. I only wish we would have had more time to actually grab a bite to eat and walk the grounds.

LOVED the tour! Our guide, Alan, was very knowledgeable and you can tell he really loves history/his job. It was worth it, especially since the weather wasn’t great-it was an awesome way to see more of Charleston while staying out of the rain! His stories and explanations were great, I would definitely recommend this tour when visiting Charleston! Thanks so much Alan!

My family and I took this tour and had a wonderful time. We learned so much about the city of Charleston history important sites around town. We would highly recommend it to anyone that wants to learn more about the town.

Visiting Boone Hall Plantation allowed us to enjoy a beautiful day outside, see places some of our favorite movies were filmed, and take a trip back in time. The best part of our visit was the agricultural tour of the farm, a must do! Booking through Adventure Sightseeing was simple and they even transported us from our hotel to the plantation and back!
