The staging for Metallica’s tour is built to do just that, though, on the kind of grand scale well-suited for football stadiums. The band performs in the round, on a big stage in the shape of a ring that surrounds fans with tickets to the VIP “Snake Pit.” That means anyone on the floor isn’t actually all that far from the band – but also that the traditional video screen setup doesn’t work. So the band put the screens, and most of the speakers, on eight massive towers. During some songs, the colors were bleached out, making the footage one-hued to underscore the drama. Most bands would seem dwarfed by the scale, but Metallica rose to the occasion. More space just means more space to conquer.

The only drawback to the band’s over-the-top staging was that the same scale that made it so spectacular drained a bit of the band’s chemistry. With multiple microphones and several drum sets for Lars Ulrich – one would disappear beneath the stage and another would come up so he could play while facing another part of the crowd – everyone could see everything, but not always at the same time. The ring was so big that “Wherever I May Roam” (stark and dramatic as ever, toward the end of the show) could have been self-referential. But Metallica wanted to out-do itself, and it did. This kind of maximalism is only silly if you can’t carry it off – and Metallica does.

By stadium standards, the band keeps the music fresh, too. Sure, it has enough classics to spread over two nights – “One” and “Enter Sandman” on May 26, “Blackened” and “Master of Puppets” two days later – but it also pulled out “Whiskey in the Jar,” a traditional-by-way-of Thin Lizzy song that sounded very human even at this gigantic scale. For at least a few minutes, the stadium felt like the world’s biggest bar – if you can imagine a bar with eight 14-ton video towers – and if any crowd deserved a drinking song it was this one.

After “Whiskey” the band turned to “One” and then “Sandman,” a metal song that has acquired the patina of classic rock. There would be more surprises in two days at the next show, and the crowd pondered the possibilities as it filed out of the venue – more classics, a rarity, who knows? Like the best big rock shows, it would feel familiar but sound fresh. It was live but also, somehow, much bigger.

METALLICA Releases Single Day Tickets For ‘M72 World Tour’

Listen up, metalheads! The mighty METALLICA have released single-day tickets for their upcoming “M72 World Tour.” Presented worldwide by Liquid Death and Blackened American Whiskey (in North America only) and promoted by Live Nation, Metallica’s M72 world tour will see the band playing two nights in every city it visits—with each No Repeat Weekend featuring two completely different setlists and support lineups. 

The M72 tour will feature a bold new in-the-round stage design that relocates the famed Metallica Snake Pit to center stage for a complete 360 view of the show, as well as the I Disappear full-tour pass and the debut of discounted tickets for fans under 16 years of age. Each weekend offers a variety of Enhanced Experiences , ranging from access to a meet and greet, production and stage tour, food and beverage in the “Black Box” lounge to early entry into the venue and the aforementioned Snake Pit.  

PRESALE: First access to tickets will be available to Fifth Members starting Monday, January 16th at 9:00am locally in the US, Canada, and Mexico and at 10:00am locally in Europe. Today (November 28th) marks the announcement of every  Metallica  show booked through 2023 and 2024: Presented worldwide by  Liquid Death  and  Blackened American Whiskey  (in North America only) and promoted by Live Nation, Metallica’s  M72  world tour will see the band playing two nights in every city it visits — with each “No Repeat Weekend” featuring two completely different setlists and support lineups. The  M72  tour will feature a bold new in-the-round stage design that relocates the famed Metallica  Snake Pit to center stage, as well as the  I Disappear , full-tour pass and the debut of discounted tickets for fans under 16 years of age. Two-day tickets will be on sale December 2nd at Ticketmaster.com and will include the option of pre-ordering the band’s new album,  72 Seasons , on vinyl and/or CD. A portion of proceeds from every ticket sold will go to the band’s  All Within My Hands  foundation. Founded in 2017, AWMH’s efforts to assist and enrich the lives of members of the communities who have supported the band have raised nearly $13 million — providing $5.9 million in grants to career and technical education programs in the US, over $2.5 million to combat food insecurity, and more than $3.2 million to disaster relief efforts worldwide.

Citi  is the official card of the  M72  tour. Citi cardmembers will have access to presale tickets in the U.S. beginning November 30th at 2:00 p.m. local time until December 1st at 10:00 p.m. local time through the Citi Entertainment program.

72 Seasons  will be released on April 14th through the band’s own  Blackened Recordings . It is the first full length collection of new material since 2016’s  Hardwired…To Self-Destruct . The album will be released in formats including 2LP 140g black vinyl and limited-edition variants, CD and digital.

Says Metallica, “We told you about our new album  72 Seasons . So what’s next now that we’ve escaped the studio? Hit the road, of course! You want a tour, we’ve got a tour… how about two full years’ worth of shows?!?!

Over the past few years, we have been so inspired by the dedication and family/community vibe of the fans who traveled to San Francisco for our recent weekend celebrations, first in 2019 with the two  S&M2  shows, followed by last year’s 40th Anniversary shows. On top of that, we had a blast being a part of the 2021  Wimmer  Festivals when we played two nights in one city, each with a totally different setlist. With all of that in mind, the  M72  tour was born.

Starting in April of 2023, we’ll be visiting 22 different cities around the world and playing two nights in each city, with each ‘No Repeat Weekend’ show a completely unique experience: Two totally different set lists with two different bands opening the show each night! Purchase a two-day ticket, and you won’t see the same song twice for a total of over 30 songs spanning our 40+ years of being lucky enough to make music. Most of the shows (sorry, not all – we tried!) will be on Fridays and Sundays, so we’ll be sure to have lots of extracurricular events for you to hang with fellow Metallica fans at before the shows kick-off and on the Saturday night in between.

First time I saw Metallica was when they opened for Ozzy Osbourne. Totally blew him off the stage! Ticket price was $12. I paid $27 to see the Guns N’ Roses/Metallica stadium show. What do you think that would cost today? I looked over the two-night packages Metallica is promoting for this upcoming tour. A great concept – two shows in the same city, each with their own unique setlist, and different opening bands. Know what isn’t so great? The freakin’ cost! This is literally KI$$ level pricing now. This is why Metallica can afford to play only a handful of shows each year. You literally have to mortgage your house, cash in your retirement savings, and forgo junior’s college tuition, just to buy the concert tickets. I haven’t even mentioned the cost of airfare, hotel, car rental, parking, meals, merchandise, etc. I love Metallica, they’re my second favorite band next to Iron Maiden. But I just saw Maiden a couple of months ago, and I was able to easily afford the tickets and purchase THREE shirts! I saw Metallica the year before the lockdown, almost 4 years ago. Hard to believe how fast time flies. Sadly, it may have been the last time I seen them live too.

Metallica Rocks MetLife Stadium on the M72 World Tour: A Night to Remember

East Rutherford, NJ – August 4, 2023: Metallica, the iconic heavy metal band that has been dominating the music scene for decades, electrified the crowd at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on this memorable evening. With automatic seat booking we will automatically choose seats available depending on your chosen price level and the number of tickets you require.

Seating Plan

The Seating Plan allows you to purchase exactly the seats you want for an event at a specific venue. Open the seating plan for an overview of all available seats, then click on the seats you want to select them.

Please note that the Seating Plan is not available for all events.

This means that the tickets reserved for your chosen price group or section of the seating chart are either fully booked at the moment, not yet on sale or their sale has ended.

Only single seats available

In your chosen price level there are now only single seats available. Although there may be a large number of seats available they will not be next to each other. It may be possible to book consecutive seats in a different price level or by using the Seating Plan.

Concessions

Concession tickets are often available, e.g. to students, children and seniors. If purchasing concession priced tickets, proof of entitlement, e.g. a valid student id card, may be requested by the venue.

Information on promoter

The promoter, not Lippupiste Oy, is responsible for the event offered. The event is carried out by the promoter, who also issues the tickets. Lippupiste Oy is only acting as a ticketing agent on behalf of the promoter.

Ticket prices include VAT and service fees without   order fees .

The Olympic Stadium

Public transport.

The Helsinki Olympic Stadium’s central location with good connections offers an easy access. Buses and trams come right in the vicinity of the stadium and its unique atmosphere. Addition to the public transportation there are city bike stations and public bike racks nearby. When arriving to events, it is recommended to use public transportation or walkways. Events organised at the stadium influence the possibilities to park in the area. Different options for arriving at the Olympic Stadium can be found in a map application. The Olympic Stadium’s address is Paavo Nurmen tie 1, 00250 Helsinki. Buses and trams – closest stops are: Töölön Kisahalli (Töölö Sports Hall), Töölön kirjasto (Töölö Library), Ooppera (Opera), Auroran sairaala (Aurora Hospital). The closest train stations are Pasila and Helsinki Central Railway Station. There is a bus and tram connection from the stations to the Olympic Stadium. Walking from the stations to the stadium takes about 20 to 28 minutes. When using public transportation, the best way to plan your trip is to use the Journey Planner .

When arriving to events at the Olympic Stadium, it is recommended to use public transportation or walkways. Events organised at the stadium influence the possibilities to park in the area. The closest parking is located at the Tornipiha (please see the area map). Parking area cannot be used during events. Other close by parking areas can be found on Urheilukatu, Mäntymäen kenttä, in front of Töölön kisahalli (Töölö Sports Hall) and near Helsingin jäähalli (Helsinki Ice Hall). Events can also influence on parking at these areas. The nearest parking hall is P-Töölö (Töölönkatu 23). All parking spaces are chargeable. The North Stadium Square parking area is reserved for organizations operating in the stadium (contract parking).
