MegaRexx SVN Ford F-250 Excursion conversion

You Can Buy a New 7-Seat 2023 Ford Excursion

Ford hasn’t made a Super Duty Excursion SUV for years. But that hasn’t stopped enthusiasts from wishing it still did. That was the basis behind MegaRexx Trucks’ converting an F-250 into a new Excursion. And if you like it, you can buy one of these hulking seven-passenger SUVs .

The MegaRexx SVN Ford F-250 ‘Excursion’ is a murdered-out masterpiece

MegaRexx SVN Ford F-250 'Excursion'

Over-the-top trucks are a MegaRexx specialty. The Castle Hayne, North Carolina-based outfit calls this three-row extra-large SUV the “MegaRexx SVN.” We’ve covered the company’s other creations, including the MegaRaptor and MegaBronc . When it comes to Ford trucks on bath salts, MegaRexx delivers.

First, the company fashions a long roof from aluminum. Then it turns the F-250 bed into a part of the cabin. Easier said than done, we know. It’s integrated with the rest of the F-250 , not just a fiberglass bed cap.

The long expanse of tinted windows in the murdered-out presentation goes almost unnoticed.

Step into the luxurious MegaRexx SVN interior

Inside, the blackness continues with leather-trimmed Lariat Ultimate everything. That and more give the cabin an upscale appearance.

The front and second-row seating feature power bucket seats. And the rear uses a Ford Expedition third row, trimmed like the front and middle-row bucket seats. Additionally, the third-row passengers get a Vintage Air climate-controlled system. And with the Lariat Ultimate trim, the front seats come heated and ventilated.

Also, expect the Ford Sync 4 infotainment system and a 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system as part of the package.

This 7-seat Excursion conversion has other unique touches

Driver's side view of a black Ford F-250 'Excursion' conversion by MegaRexx Trucks

Outside, the MegaRexx SVN Super Duty receives a modest 2.5-inch lift, along with a Carli Suspension leveling system. The 20-inch rims are Fuel Militia wheels, supporting 35-inch Nitto Ridge Grappler off-road hoops. Thanks to those tires and lift, tubular side steps are also part of the package.

In addition, you’ll find plenty of MegaRexx ID badging on the exterior. The front and rear fenders get badges, as do the C-pillars. Also, the company name is emblazoned on the tailgate. Inside, the only identification appears on the dash, expected for a high-end custom SUV .

How much does a MegaRexx SVN Ford F-250 ‘Excursion’ cost?

The starting price is $179,950. At first, that’s enough to make you think twice. But this vehicle is truly unique, yet it can haul family, friends, toys, and more with ease. And it’s big. If you want big, the MegaRexx SVN is it.

Furthermore, this Excursion conversion looks like it came from Ford. Some other aftermarket creations look like hatchet jobs. MegaRexx has done plenty of similar conversions for the past few years. So don’t be afraid. Step up to a large, luxe, rugged 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty “Excursion.”

2022 Ford Excursion: The New Ford Excursion SUV Review

2022 Ford Excursion When Ford contacted the United States Patent and Trademark Office and filed for the rights to the Excursion name in April, the interest of big SUV lovers around the world was piqued. Apart from bringing back the Bronco, is Ford planning to relaunch the biggest SUV ever produced? Rumors started moving,

The excitement started to grow and we decided to theorize what the coveted 2021 version of “Ex” would look like.

Of course, in keeping with the three-quarter-ton foundation used from ’00 -’05, this version will also be based on the Super Duty platform. And of course, Ford will offer another 2022 Ford Excursion Diesel option, right?

2022 Ford Excursion Reviews

The New Ford Excursion SUV imagines a Platinum trim Ford excursion in the gadget modern era, with a 1,050 lb-ft 6.7L Power Stroke tethered to the new 10-speed TorqShift and a whole band along the way! You can call it speculation,

New Ford Excursion

Just when the SUV market was about to explode in the United States, Excursion came and pulled people looking for a heavy-duty three-line passenger carrier.

Arriving in the fall of 1999 as the ’00 ‘model, the Ex ruled out the GM Suburban, boasting the longest (226 inches), widest (80 inches), and tallest (77 inches) longest SUV ever produced by the Big Three.

It can also pull 10,000 pounds thanks to the Duty-ton Super Duty frame, suspension, axles (a solid front on the 4×4 model), and of course the Class IV hitch that has become standard.

Now, some 15 years after Ford Excursion 2022 production was discontinued in the US (a limited number of ’06 models were produced for Mexico), GM has unmatched control in the large SUV segment.

But how long will GM’s dominance last? Given the recent news about Ford trying to trademark the Ford Excursion 2022 name, it seems to many that carmaker Dearborn is once again attracted to a piece of cake that is undoubtedly very tantalizing.

After all, a new Suburban with all its bells and whistles could easily fetch over $ 80,000.

2022 Ford Excursion Coming Back

Is Ford Bringing Back The Excursion Here comes the latest Ford trademark filing updating the Ford Excursion name for “motor vehicles, namely: pick-up trucks, electric vehicles, sports vehicles, off-road vehicles, and structural parts thereof?”

Used 2022 excursion Limited with 4WD, Roof Rack, Keyless Entry, Fog Lights, Leather Seats, Running Boards, Skid Plate, Captains Chairs

This is the second Ford trademark news this week. Lincoln also trademarks the name eGlide. What does this mean? Is Ford planning to bring back the new Ford Excursion SUV? Will it be based on the new Ford Super Duty? We don’t have an official answer to this yet.

However, the giant SUV Ford Super Duty Excursion is in my opinion impossible. Ford already sells the Ford Expedition and Max Expedition for a long wheelbase. Is The Ford Excursion Coming Back This full-size SUV competes directly with the Chevy Tahoe, Chevy Suburban, and others. If not a giant truck-based SUV, then what’s the next Excursion like?

What if the future of the 2022 Ford Excursion was an electric full-size SUV with a focus on off-road capability? GM is bringing back the Hummer brand name in an all-electric form. Perhaps, Ford is considering something similar for the next Excursion? We don’t know for sure. As soon as we hear more about this subject – we’ll let you know.

The 2022 Ford Excursion used to be a large body-on-frame SUV. It uses the Ford Super Duty chassis and shares the powertrains with the big trucks.

Big, luxury trucks and SUVs are back – like it or not. With General Motors resurrecting the Hummer as GMC’s electric vehicle and Jeep reportedly clearing the Grand Wagoneer name for its flagship SUV, the Blue Oval appears to be digging into its archives and bringing back the 2022 Ford Excursion from the early to mid-2000s.

That is if Ford’s recent trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office is something to follow. Filed on April 24, the app attempts to use the name for “Motorized vehicles, that is, automobiles, pick-up trucks, electric vehicles, sports vehicles, off-road vehicles, and their structural parts.”

Indeed, that’s quite a wide potential use for the name. Nevertheless, it’s no surprise that Ford is pinning the moniker onto a large EV truck or SUV aiming to take on the upcoming GMC Hummer. That said, Ford may be simply filing a trademark to protect the name from falling into the proverbial embrace of a competing car manufacturer.

First introduced for the 2000 model year, the 2022 Ford Excursion sits atop the already large Expeditions in Ford’s SUV lineup. Is Ford Excursion Coming Back While Expedition shares its main components with the F-150 pickup, the New Excursion uses its most important parts from the larger Super Duty Ford F-Series truck.

new ford excursion The Ford Excursion was a great example of the 'bigger is better' mentality that dominated the US auto industry

With three engines available (including the V-10 and diesel V-8), the giant new Ford Excursion offers the size and towing traction its pickup counterpart offers with a wagon body that allows three rows of seats and plenty of (covered) space for miscellaneous items.

The model was short-lived, and in the middle of the decade, Ford discontinued large SUVs. However, Excursion made a splash in its short life and continues to gather fans who appreciate its heavy-duty foundation and its ability to carry people.

Only time will tell if Ford brings this mighty SUV back from the dead, but given the company plans to reintroduce the Bronco as a 2021 model year vehicle, it wouldn’t surprise us to see the Excursion name return to the company’s model line before the end of the decade.

2022 Ford Excursion Engine Specs

Just as the original Excursion was available with three different power generators (the 5.4L V8 Triton, 6.8L V10 Triton, and 7.3L Power Stroke V8 diesel), a trio of engines could be on the table now.

2022 ford excursion diesel Here are the top Ford Excursion listings for sale ASAP

Ford’s proven 6.2L V8 gas can be standard (left), with an optional 7.3L V8 gasser (center) and the new 6.7L Power Stroke V8 diesel (right) offered as premium engines.

If you want to make it big, it’s best to try your hardest. In the past, Ford offered a 7.3L Power Stroke V8 diesel engine as its premium engine option, which delivers the best possible fuel economy, torque, and driving capability with or without the load behind it.

It would make a lot of sense to offer compression ignition again, right? This time the 6.7L Power Stroke is going to get the nod – an ultra-quiet high-pressure common-rail burner that, ironically, delivers more than twice the horsepower and torque generated by the 7.3L Power Stroke in 2000 (475) hp and 1,050 lb-ft vs. 235 hp and 500 lb-ft).

For truckers, it can be hard to give up on a basic engine (remember, this is a 6.2L V8 in our imaginary world) knowing that the 430hp 7.3L option is on the table.

The 445 ci gas V8 is not only the largest and most powerful in its class but its traditional overhead-valve, cam-in-block design is a nice respite from all the above cam action we’ve seen Ford over the years (think 1996).

The cast-iron block with a four-bolt power source, aluminum head with the wedge-shaped combustion chamber, and hydraulic roller lifters with variable valve timing and a single phaser have made the 7.3L gas well received so far in the Super Duty segment.

Just as the 7.3L gas and 6.7L Power Stroke benefit from the new 10-speed TorqShift automatic transmission in their Super Duty iteration, the same marriage will be accepted (and most likely) at the Excursion.

Called the 10R140, the first gear has a very low ratio of 4.61: 1, the seventh gear serves as a direct gear, and three overdrive gears are available, including a top gear ratio of 0.632: 1 (vs. 0.674: 1 on six speeds before 6R140) for fuel economy optimal.

While we’d like to see the new megalodon SUV embellished with the Dana M275 rear axle available on the F-350 and F-250 equipped with Ford’s HD crane package, the odds of Ford using 10.5 Sterling are much more likely.

Granted, the 10.5-inch ring gear axle is proven and tough enough in ¾ tonne applications, but it’s the same axle used on the original New Excursion 20 years ago.

Ford, if you’re listening (and planning to keep the roots of the 2022 Ford Excursion generosity intact), give us the M275, with a 10.8-inch ring gear, 4-inch diameter axle tube, and a 36-spline shaft (in comparison, the smaller using a 3.5-inch shaft tube and a 35-spline shaft).

The front coil-sprung suspension on the modern Super Duty has often been criticized for its tough, stiff ride, especially (and predictably) when empty. These reviews are usually prepared by car people.

Trust me, in terms of ride quality, the same basic suspension system Ford uses on its trucks as the ’05 is light years ahead of the leaf spring front ends found on all 4×4 ’00 -’05 models.

This time (and provided it is based on the Super Duty platform), a full box frame will also be standard equipment under the new Ford Excursion.

A 3-inch wide pile of leaf springs should be at both ends of the rear axle.

2022 Ford Excursion Price

The discussion for pricing so far is still not official. The next-gen 2021 Ford Excursion is likely to start at $ 50,000,

2022 Ford Excursion Release Date

As for the release schedule, we still haven’t got the official information. We will continue to update the latest information on this website.

We like the 2022 Ford Excursion model, which is a heavy-duty Class 2 truck based on the F250 Super Duty pickup. The 3/4 ton chassis features front and rear axles and engine choices include the exciting 5.4L Triton V-8, 6.8L Triton V-10, and 7.3L Power Stroke V-8 Turbo Diesel.

It has a Dana 50 front axle (similar to a Dana 60 housing with Dana 44 internals) and a Ford/Sterling 10.5 rear axle, shares three-quarters of its frame with the F250, and shares most of its hard components as well.

FAQs: People also ask Ford Excursion 2022

Q: does ford still manufacture the excursion.

A: Ford hasn’t had an Excursion in its lineup since 2005, when the last one rolled off the assembly line in Louisville, Kentucky. It was replaced indirectly by the Expedition, leaving a vacuum in the Blue Oval family that has yet to be filled or has it.

Q: Did they make a 7.3 Excursion?

A: Each of the four engines was mated to an automated transmission. The 5.4 L, 6.8 L, and 7.3 L engines were equipped with the 4-speed 4R100 automatic, while the 6.0 L engine was equipped with the 5-speed 5R110W automatic.

Q: Did the Ford Expedition replace the Excursion?

A: The Ford Expedition, like the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, is available in conventional and extended lengths (the Ford Expedition EL/Max), with the latter serving as a replacement for the Ford Excursion since 2007.

Q: Why was the Excursion discontinued?

A: Ford had stepped up to fight with Chevrolet’s Suburban and Tahoe. Unfortunately, rising petrol prices and the Excursion’s reputation for extravagance led to its termination after the 2005 model year. Drivers know they’re getting a dependable vehicle from Ford because of uncompromising design and engineering.

Q: Is Ford coming out with a 2022 Excursion?

A: The Excursion could arrive in 2022, but that seems unlikely as Ford still hasn’t announced anything about the model. Depending on how soon it’s released, Best SUVs of 2021 think Ford could price it anywhere from $60,000 to $65,000.

Q: Is Ford bringing back the Excursion?

A: The upcoming 2021 Ford Excursion will be the largest SUV in its segment. Previously, the Excursion was 226 inches long. For comparison, the Expedition MAX is 222 inches long.

Q: Why doesn’t Ford make Excursions anymore?

A: Rising gas prices and a reputation for excess led to the discontinuation of the Excursion after the 2005 model year.

Q: What is the latest year of the Ford Excursion?

A: The Ford Excursion was dropped in 2005 and replaced by the Expedition version with a longer wheelbase.

2023 Ford Excursion: The All-New Ford Excursion Review

The Ford Excursion is still alive and it's available with six doors

Sean Szymkowski

The last Ford Excursion rolled off the assembly line in 2005, but one Oklahoma-based shop hasn't let the hulking SUV die.

Based in Guthrie, Oklahoma, Custom Autos by Tim continues to make "new" Ford Excursions. The Detroit News profiled the shop in a Tuesday report. The shop typically marries an older Excursion body to a new F-Series Super Duty pickup chassis to create a "new" vehicle. Buyers have a few options. Current owners can bring their SUVs to owner Tim Huskey for a total rebuild, the shop can start from scratch with a Super Duty chassis the buyer provides, or the shop can use one of its stockpile of Super Duty chassis that it offers to buyers. The shop's biggest hook, however, is the fact that it will use the Super Duty chassis to create a stretched Excursion with six doors.

Prices start at $40,000 for buyers who bring their own vehicles, but Huskey said most people spend between $50,000 and $100,000 for a conversion. The business, to put it bluntly, is quite stable.

Huskey said he's certain he has enough business to last him for the next five years. It takes two months to complete each build, and right now, there's a two-month waiting list. The shop does about 40 Excursions each year.

'New' Ford Excursion SUV from Custom Autos by Time

The work varies for each customer, but Huskey is a master fabricator when it comes to building the "new" models. For example, one Excursion kept the original SUV's engine, dashboard, and transmission, while the rest was made up of used Excursions and F-Series Super Duties that had been scrapped due to damage. With business booming, Huskey said he'll need to start using F-650 chassis since they still match up with the Excursion's body. Unfortunately, he added he's not able to work with the latest trucks from Ford with their aluminum bodies .

At Ford, there's reportedly no regret for ending production of the mammoth SUV more than a decade ago. For Huskey, it created an opportunity.

2024 Ford Excursion – News, Specs, Release Date

Dan August 23, 2022 Excursion , Ford , SUVs Leave a comment 17,061 Views

Since the full-size SUV segment is still hot, many carmakers are looking at the idea to introduce at least one big SUV. When it comes to large SUVs, Ford Excursion is the biggest one ever made. However, this model is not here for almost two decades. The 2024 Ford Excursion is still just a rumor, although many reliable reports are suggesting the comeback. In case you didn’t know, Excursion was an SUV based on the F-250 Super Duty truck .

The same could happen once again, but the new Excursion will largely depart from its predecessor. This means the Excursion model will ride on a new platform, offering a new design, technologies, and engines. Some speculations are already writing about the hybrid or all-electric Excursion, but that won’t happen. Still, the idea of a huge comeback is exciting, so here’s everything we know so far.

Ford Excursion Design and Dimensions

Despite the new architecture, the upcoming 2024 Ford Excursion will arrive with almost the same dimensions as the previous generation. This means we should expect a very large SUV that is 137 inches long. Right now, Chevrolet Suburban is the longest SUV at 134 inches. The Excursion model will have a 140-inch long wheelbase.

Furthermore, the F-250 heavy-duty truck will once again have a huge impact on the Excursion SUV. We expect the same design language, with similar front fascia and some other exterior elements. In any case, the new Ford Excursion will look rugged and imposing. Lastly, expect to see standard 20-inch wheels and optional 22-inch rims.

Interior Updates

Inside the cabin, the new 2024 Ford Excursion will provide lots of high-tech amenities. We don’t know how many trim levels will be on offer, but Ford will surely offer at least one luxury variant. However, the highlight of the Excursion model is its spacious cabin. There will be room for eight passengers, across three rows of seats.

Naturally, Chevrolet Suburban will be Excursion’s main rival. In case you didn’t know, the Suburban SUV is a premium model with lots of premium materials and technologies. Therefore, Ford’s new SUV will have to be competitive in many areas. Luckily, an impressive cargo area, a high level of comfort, and good safety ratings will be enough, for a start.

Will Excursion SUV Offer a Diesel Engine?

The last version of this full-size SUV offered a diesel powertrain. The upcoming 2024 Ford Excursion could arrive with the same idea, but we think a gasoline powertrain is a more likely outcome. Therefore, a 7.3-liter V8 unit with 430 horsepower is the main candidate. This engine is capable of producing 475 lb-ft of torque. It powers the current Ford F-250 truck and it is a relatively new displacement.

2022 Ford Excursion: The New Perfect Ford Excursion Review

2022 Ford Excursion the first point is quite serious during the motor vehicle business. Analyzing specific recoveries has been relatively stringent for the previous long time. This situation, last but not least, intends to grow to be recognized by the latest records.

It looks like our company will experience a completely new version of the SUV, maybe now in the next season since the 2021 Ford Excursion . The first unit began in 1999. During this time, the problem was very different in the vehicle sector, so the company assumed this special design very clearly. All of this started well.

Nevertheless, the points became difficult over the following years. The price of propane ends wider, even if this SUV is not very cost-effective. It is relatively strong and even slower. Today’s business may be able to be closed with a crossover, but some drivers continue to choose vintage sport-body-on-frame sports vehicles.

This will bring the item to a unique level, having a design suitable for large-duty trucks, which claim amazing functionality. The latest Ford trademark archiving updates the Ford 2022 Excursion name for “motorized vehicles, namely: pick-up trucks, electric vehicles, sports vehicles, off-road vehicles, and structural parts.”

This is the second Ford trademark news this week. Lincoln also makes a trademark for the name eGlide. What does this mean? Is Ford planning to return the SUV New Excursion ? Will it be based on the new Ford Super Duty? We don’t have an official answer to this.

However, a giant Ford Super Duty Excursion SUV is impossible in my opinion. Ford has sold the Ford Expedition and the Max long-wheelbase expedition. This full-size SUV competes directly with the Chevy Tahoe, Chevy Suburban, and others.

What if the future Ford Excursion was an all-electric full-size SUV with a focus on off-road capability? GM brought back the Hummer brand in the form of an all-electric. Maybe, Ford is considering something similar for the next 2022 Excursion ? We do not know for sure. As soon as we hear more about this – we’ll let you know.

The 2022 Excursion was once a big-body SUV. It uses a Ford Super Duty chassis and shares a powertrain with large trucks.

2022 Ford Excursion Review: New Excursion

Ford Excursion 2022 , The last Ford Excursion came off the assembly line in 2005, but an Oklahoma-based store didn’t let the giant SUV die.

New Ford Excursion

Guthrie, Oklahoma-based Custom Autos by Tim continues to make “new” Ford Tours. The Detroit News profiled the store in a report Tuesday. The shop often pairs the old Excursion body with the new Super Duty F-Series pickup chassis to create a “new” vehicle.

Buyers have several options. Existing owners can take their SUVs to Team Huskey owners to completely rebuild them, a shop can start from scratch with a Super Duty chassis provided by the buyer, or a shop can use one of the Super Duty chassis materials it offers to buyers.

The biggest hook for the store, however, is the fact that it will use the Super Duty chassis to create the six-door extended Travel.

Will There Be A 2022 Ford Excursion

New Ford Excursion , The future of the 2022 Ford Excursion is certain, and here are more details we discovered about this legendary vehicle. Larger than Expedition Max, there will be more room for passengers.

A 2022 Ford Excursion will likely combine the factors of seeing a smaller-sized sibling SUV with a large-duty truck. The newest is moving in a different creation. In 2021, we will have a new series featuring Super Duty trucks. Effectively, the Excursion SUV will likely use a theme about boasting.

2022 Ford Excursion The Ford Excursion is a heavy duty (Class 2), full-sized SUV that was produced by Ford

The Ford Excursion 2022 is undoubtedly a large service SUV service that is designed on the same basis, taking into account the F-250 . The SUV is in the Expedition , and also, it can do more.

However, despite the fact, that they can move more and more men and women factors, Ford chose to solve it because of the output configuration. This is not true.

The Ford Excursion 2022 is safer throughout the company than a wide sedan, for example, for carrying 8 or 9 men and women.

Considering that oil is more important when will Ford award the 2022 Ford Excursion again?

Like the rough version, the Ford Excursion 2022 must offer you a large load and load test. To achieve this, you may need to provide a reliable and reliable machine.

We assume that, at this time, it is known that the V8 inhales in general 6.2 liters which contain its reliability in many situations.

For anyone looking for something unforgettable, they can provide more power in addition to the Ford 6-liter V8 engine with a 440-hp turbocharger and a 925-pound torque.

In the same situation, the smart level tends to be 6 general levels. Again, the wheels can be shifted primarily for shipping, but the strategy of making multiple wheels must be at least one decision.

What Is The Best Year Ford Excursion

Excursion Ford 2022 Let’s go back to 1999. Bill Clinton is President, Ask Jeeves is the largest search engine on the internet and Google is becoming a thing. The average price of gasoline is $ 1.17 per gallon across the US. People still have pagers, and it won’t be for another eight years until the first iPhone is released.

It was a different time, it was the best time. That was the time when Ford decided to build an SUV based on the Super Duty pickup line, and boy did it.

Based on the F250 Super Duty pickup, the Excursion is considered a class 2 heavy-duty truck. with 3/4 tonne chassis with front and rear axles and engine options ranging from the 5.4L Triton V-8, 6.8L Triton V-10, and 7.3L Turbo Diesel V-8 Stroke Power.

It features a Dana 50 front axle (it’s like a Dana 60 housing with a Dana 44 interior), and a Ford / Sterling 10.5 rear axle, it shares three-quarters of its frame with the F250, and most of the hardware components are the same.

Unfortunately, in 2005, due to mixed feelings about the Excursion due to its size and poor fuel economy, especially when the excess service life came under fire due to the downturn in the economy and the rapid increase in fuel costs, the decision was made to cancel the Excursion and focus on Expedition stolen. F-150 ahead.

The 7.3L and 6.8L powered excursion is a popular item in the Overland world, and one that hasn’t been modified or tuned and is rust-free will go up in value as fast as a comparable Land Cruiser. It’s not uncommon to find ’00 and ’01 7.3L Eddie Bauer slashed Excursions that sell for close to $ 20,000, regardless of mileage.

Being the best plus-sized SUV, we can understand why. These freaks incorporate all the best parts of America’s full-sized diesel truck and mix it with the legacy of a big SUV. Suddenly with a power stroke under the hood, you’ve got a big SUV that’s very reliable, can tow well, and still manages to cover over 20 miles per gallon.

There is not a single vehicle like the New Excursion , as before, in a class of its own, and it will forever be. Who can bring down an excessive king? We don’t know, but our money is in Rivian.

The transmission on the 02-03 was better but the 2000 and 2001 have forged the connecting rods where newer trucks have PMR. If you plan to produce over 400+ hp with your truck this is essential otherwise no big deal.

2022 Ford Excursion 4WD

Ford appears to have strong ties with the patent office. After filing multiple trademark applications for Bronco, the company is now renewing the “Excursion” trademark. Does it remind you of anything? This studio flat-sized SUV was discontinued in 2006, but Ford revived the moniker; instead, update the trademark for now.

2022 Ford Excursion For the 2021 model year, Ford introduced the Expedition XL STX, which has a lower starting price than other Expedition trim levels

Is Ford planning to challenge the Chevy Suburban for the biggest SUV award, or are we looking for an electric truck to buy the upcoming Hummer EV?

On April 24, 2020, Ford submitted the rights to the Gezi name to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) “motor vehicles, namely: pickups, electric vehicles, sports vehicles, off-road vehicles, and structural parts.”

It looks like the company won’t revive the moniker to make a Ford F-250-sized SUV for the US market, but you never know. The trip measures 226.7 inches long and is one of the tallest SUVs to grace our planet. Given that Chevy sells over 50,000 Suburban units each year, Ford might want to try the Gezi again.

However, Ford could even use a nickname for an electric truck versus Hummer EV. Just like Hummer, Gezi can represent a large electric truck.

You can’t expect an electric F-150 to produce a 1,000-horsepower EV, can you? So why not develop a new truck and give it the nickname previously used for large vehicles? Perfect competitor for Hummer.

It came with many engines, but the most popular was the 6.0-liter V-8 that produced 325 pounds and 560 pound-feet of torque. What makes this SUV stand out is its truck-like towing capacity. The trip can pull 11,000 pounds with this engine and carry up to 1,510 pounds.

It offers 48 cubic feet of cargo space with all seats in position. With all seats closed, Gezi offers over 146 cubic feet of cargo space.

The trip did not go well in the first half, so there was not much nostalgia attached to it. However, that doesn’t mean Ford will launch a product anytime soon. The company is currently busy with the Bronco and even the electric F-150. And we will expect official information from Ford for the 4×4 version.

What do you think Gezi will be? Large SUV or truck? Internal combustion engine or electric?

2022 Ford Excursion Max

2022 Ford Excursion The newly-developed 7.3-liter engine will power the forthcoming 2021 Ford Excursion. It will make a debut on the Ford's Super Duty lineup.

  • EcoBoost technology supports performance in the Ford Expedition. Experience impressive responsiveness with the powerful 3.5L EcoBoost, a complement to two technologies: direct injection to help maximize power, and an air-to-air dual inter-cooled turbocharger that delivers on-demand power spikes.
  • So large that it practically takes up the entire roof, the available Vista Roof panorama has two panels over the first and second rows. The front panel opens for an open-air driving experience.
  • Standard on Platinum, the leather-trimmed heated and ventilated multi-contour front captain seat with Active Motion technology that provides lumbar support and a soothing seat-bottom massage helps reduce lower back and leg fatigue which helps make for a more comfortable driving experience.

2022 Ford Excursion Dimensions

In this we see that the New Ford Excursion SUV is the largest in its segment that brings SUV-like comfort to many people; The dimensions for the version will be 226.7 inches, 80 inches, and 77.4 inches with 165 cubic feet of cargo space.

2022 Ford Excursion Exterior

We have relied on gossip and even speculation. Specifics seem rather special. This mainly means structure.

Just like the original product, the Ford Excursion 2021 is also an unusual pet bird. We have again intended to find an SUV.

This depends on the company’s Super Duty line. Much more precisely, it is likely to be in line with the design of the F-250.

Of course, there are several large vehicles complete with full-size Sports Utilities, including the Chevy Suburban and even the Ford Expedition.

This one makes this pole higher. This version will no doubt be a clear preference for all those who need to have a high crane capacity and hope to have a very good deal for comfort and even take on more than all 5 men and women.

Another important part of various products is likely to become proficient. The original New Excursion often seems to be true, but it seems too substantial and unproductive.

Now, the Ford Excursion 2021 can embrace new software that is more concise than certain companies, which generally mix HSS plus lightweight aluminum.

2022 Ford Excursion Interior

Some designs can reveal any design vocabulary, so relying on a similar front-end. Even now, remember that this Super Duty series will usually be given a facelift in the same 12 months.

2022 Ford Excursion Custom Autos by Tim builds new Ford Excursions from old ones using F-Series Super Duty chassis, and business is good

Therefore a unique excursion must take on every new thing. The remaining SUVs must appear in a vintage approach like a wagon.

It is possible to trust many equations once again using the F-250.

Our company is confident that this business includes the related dashboard panel design, although it won’t be fun to check the latest version through better components and other enhancements that can give a less complicated appearance.

The actual design is usually in the traditional SUV method. That might indicate 3 outlines of seats plus the ability of about 8 people.

We certainly have that the Ford Excursion 2021 will prosper here, especially when most of us consider that its truck siblings will come with the latest computer functions along with every product as a whole.

Ford Excursion 2022 Engine

Most of us depend on standard Super Duty motorcycles. This means basic products include a 6.1-liter V8, which is very good for about 385 hp plus 430 lb-ft of torque.

However, note that the company can create a unique 7-liter fuel engine.

They will not be described as happy to know that prepared for the kick-off of different models.

Ford Excursion 2022 Diesel

The 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel from Powerstroke is a new engine designed for the 2019 F-150 pickup truck. It can produce 250 hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. For a long time, automakers didn’t use such drivetrains. The New Ford Excursion 2022 will use it as a replacement for the previous edition.

2022 Ford Excursion This 2021 Ford Excursion diesel needs to arrive. Obviously, many of us depend on this vast 6.7-liter Powerstroke V-8, which provides outstanding 451 Hp

This will be a very big drop. The SUV uses a 7.3-liter V8 unit producing 250 hp and 525 lb-ft of torque. Crane capacity will be compromised, but Expeditions can still pull in more than 11,000 pounds with the new unit. And the biggest benefit is a much better fuel economy. New transmissions are also available, so they all result in better handling too.

The newly developed 7.3-liter engine will power the upcoming Ford Excursion 2022. It will make its debut in Ford’s Super Duty lineup. And just like the F-250 truck, the New Excursion SUV will also offer the same output. This new engine produces 430 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. Several reports suggested the same engine with a smaller output be available on the base model.

If that were true, then the basic equilibrium level would be about 350 horses. The second engine will be a diesel powertrain. No one knows which engine to offer. Many experts estimate a powerful V6 that will deliver over 650 lb-ft of torque.

Q: Is Ford bringing back the Excursion? A: The all-new 2021 Ford Excursion is the subject of a lot of speculation lately. This is the largest SUV ever produced and will be returning shortly. This F-250-based SUV was last built in 2005, and now Ford can bring the iconic model back to life.

Q: How much will the 2022 Ford Expedition cost? A: The 2022 Ford Expedition starts at $51,080. The full-size Ford Expedition 2022 SUV can seat up to eight people, hit the highway, and go off-road. It’s a roomy and versatile vehicle, and the longer Max version adds more cargo space.

Q: Why did Ford stop making the Excursion? A: In fact, Excursion’s lack of market success was the main reason why Ford discontinued the Excursion, not criticism from environmentalists, said Michael Luckey, president of the Luckey Consulting Group in Pompton Plains, NJ.

Q: What year is the newest Ford Excursion? A: Throughout its production, the Ford Excursion was assembled at the Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville alongside Ford’s Super Duty pickup trucks; the last example was produced on September 30, 2005.

Q: Which is a bigger Excursion or an Expedition? A: The main difference between sightseeing and an expedition is the destination and duration; Sightseeing is a short trip for pleasure whereas an expedition is a long journey undertaken for a specific purpose such as research or exploration.

How to find a cruise excursion you’ll actually enjoy

Ben Souza has had some unforgettable shore excursions. On a cruise from Singapore to Thailand , he and his wife visited an elephant sanctuary, a high point in their dozen years of cruising. On a Caribbean voyage, he booked a tranquil day at a Bahamas resort. The property turned out to be ratty, with a trash-filled pool and a mediocre beach.

Unlike the animal encounter in Phuket, he wishes he could wipe that outing from his memory.

“If I had been on my own private tour, I could have left and went to a better place to relax,” said Souza, the editor of Cruise Fever who has sailed on 75 ships with 18 cruise lines.

For passengers, the land is as important as the sea. Many travelers choose a voyage based on the ports. However, because shore time is limited, they must be savvy when planning their excursions.

The most convenient option is to sign up for an outing through the cruise ship. The cruise line makes the arrangements and vets the operators, which is especially important in destinations with safety concerns. Onboard credits apply to excursions. In the event of a cancellation or disruption, the cruise line will issue a refund. Most important, the captain will always wait for tour groups to return, even if they arrive past the scheduled departure time.

“Some guests value having the cruise line handle everything,” said Michael Consoli, who owns a travel agency that specializes in cruises. “So they just have to leave their house and come home.”

Booking an excursion with the cruise line comes with disadvantages. If the trip requires a minimum number of guests, the ship will cancel outings that do not meet its quota. Alternately, if too many people sign up, you may feel like a lost lamb in a flock. On a recent Royal Caribbean excursion in St. Kitts, we waited in a broiling parking lot while the guide tried to find us a spot on the packed tour bus. He finally plopped us down on a hard jump seat that blocked the exit.

Excursions organized by cruise lines can also feel like a highly touristy way to see a port destination. During our trip aboard the Margaritaville at Sea Paradise , shore excursions ranged from a $59-per-person beach day, including chair and umbrella reservations, to ethically questionable wildlife experiences like an “Up-Close Encounter” with dolphins.

The cost is also higher than booking with a third-party operator, because cruise lines place a premium on extras. Independent travelers can save 25 to 40 percent on tours they plan themselves, according to Souza. On a Hawaii cruise, he arranged an island adventure that was nearly identical to one offered by the ship, except for the price.

“We all ended up on the same river cruise together. The only difference was we took different buses to get there and everyone who booked through the cruise line paid double,” he said.

Organizing your own excursions has additional benefits, such as greater flexibility, smaller group size, a wider variety of activities and a more personalized experience.

“If you want a truly unique experience while traveling,” said Souza, who organized a side trip to Capri for an upcoming Princess cruise that stops in Naples, “sometimes you just have to do your own thing.”

For advice on planning shore excursions, we spoke with cruising experts and tapped into our own seafaring adventures. Here are our top tips.

1. Book excursions as early as possible

Cruise lines open up reservations weeks or months before the ship’s departure date. Consoli said excursions sell out on luxury cruises that offer free shore activities, such as Regent Seven Seas and Silver Sea. The limited spots also fill up on mega cruise ships with thousands of passengers, such as Royal Caribbean’s Icon of the Seas .

“When you have a ship with 7,000 passengers, it’s going to be harder to get excursions,” he said.

If you change your mind, you can often cancel without penalty, depending on the ship.

You should also plan ahead if you are booking with a local outfitter. Tours and guides can be hard to come by on busy cruise days or during peak travel periods.

2. Stick with cruise lines on complicated outings

When deciding between a ship’s excursion and your own, consider the complexity of the outing. If the adventure involves several modes of transportation or long distances, signing up with the cruise line is the safer bet. On the other hand, if the excursion is close by and straightforward, you can easily make your own arrangements.

“If I was going to Cozumel and I wanted to do the pyramids or ruins on the mainland, I would book a tour through the cruise line because you’re leaving the island and you want to make sure you get back on time,” said Doug Parker, guest host of Cruise News Today . “But in Nassau, where I can see the ships from most places on the island, I would … do something on my own.”

In some countries that require tourist visas, only passengers who are touring with a licensed operator can disembark without the document. Souza discovered this arrangement on a Mediterranean cruise that stopped in Algeria and Tunisia. Consoli said China recently introduced similar restrictions.

3. Research tour options before the cruise

Part of the appeal of cruising is that the company oversees every detail. However, you should still read reviews of excursions posted on Cruise Critic , Tripadvisor or reputable cruise blogs to guide your decisions.

If you strike out on your own, carefully research the guides and operators in your destination, including the ones who solicit business inside the cruise terminal. Check their credentials and ask to see pertinent licenses.

Many cruisers use the same outfitters as landlubbers, such as Viator and Tours by Locals . Shore Excursions is also popular. You may also be able to find your own activities like cooking classes and food tours on Airbnb Experiences .

Parker said some excursions, such as hop-on/hop-off buses, are a set price, regardless of whether you book through the ship or the outfitter. However, if the purveyor has an online promotion, you might save a sliver of money.

If you book your cruise with a travel agency, the agent can also arrange private shore excursions. In addition to overseeing the planning, the adviser provides a safety net and can reschedule or cancel the tour on your behalf. Consoli said some planners, such as himself, do not charge for this service; they earn their commission through the cruise line and tour operators.

4. Look outside the terminal for better prices

Tour operators, rental agencies and taxi drivers hike up prices in cruise terminals. For lower rates, venture a short distance away from the disembarkation point.

If you take a cab to an attraction where taxis seem scarce, arrange a pickup time. Ilana Schattauer, who blogs at Life Well Cruised , recommends hiring the driver for the entire excursion.

“If I was doing something that was a little bit off the beaten path or if I wanted to go to a more secluded beach, I would have the driver stay with me,” she said. “Or I would book a tour where the tour guide and driver stay there.”

During our Margaritaville at Sea sailing, we used Google Maps to find a scooter rental company in Grand Bahama. Around 9 p.m. we called Bullseye Car Rental , a local agency with strong reviews. Despite the late time, owner Raymond Bowe answered on the second ring. He knew our cruise schedule, offered to pick us up and drop us off from port, and gave us clear instructions for where to find him when we docked. The total for the day’s rental: $49, including transfer and helmets — about half the cost of taking the cheapest shore excursion from the cruise line.

5. Ask locals what to do, eat and drink

If you haven’t planned your off-ship day down to the minute, talk to taxi drivers, shop keepers and other locals to get tips. Crew members, who are often familiar with the ports, also are great resources.

In Grand Bahama, Bowe was an invaluable source of intel for how to spend our day. We’d made no plans and instead took Bowe’s suggestions for beaches and restaurants.

That’s how we ended up at Bernie’s Tiki Hu t , where lunch for two — Bahama Mama cocktails and a fresh lobster tail fried on the spot — cost $35. We ate on the beach in front of the tiki shack, then swam in the sea before driving down to Terry’s Conch Salad Stand . Owner Terry Pratt showed us the process of breaking a live conch out of its shell and preparing it into a Bahamian ceviche. It was $11 for a bowl and far better than anything we ate on the ship.

6. Give yourself at least an hour for the return

If you have ever left an airport during a long layover, this rule will sound familiar: Don’t cut it close . Give yourself an hour or two before final boarding time.

“If the ship is sailing at 4, I try to be back at 3,” Parker said.

Schattauer reminds cruisers that in some destinations, such as Caribbean islands, the small roads can get congested, especially when passengers are returning to the ships around the same time. She said a few years ago, she rode a shuttle to Magens Bay on St. Thomas. The trip to the beach was a quick 15 to 20 minutes. The return took an hour longer. Because she gave herself a two-hour buffer, she arrived at the terminal before the ship sailed off.

U.S. Postal Service Recommends New Prices for Parcel Select

%news-subheading%

%alt%

  • No price increases for USPS Ground Advantage, Priority Mail, or Priority Mail Express.
  • U.S. Postal Service continues to offer a great value in shipping with our reliable service to the American people.

WASHINGTON, DC — Today, the U.S, Postal Service filed notice with the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) for Parcel Select price changes to take effect July 14, 2024. The proposed adjustments were approved by the Postal Service Governors this week.

If favorably reviewed by the Commission, the new rates include an average 25-percent increase for Parcel Select service. Parcel Select is a shipping solution for high volume shippers to enter packages for regional delivery through the U.S. Postal Service’s network.

As a strategic part of the Delivering for America 10-year plan, these proposed changes will support the Postal Service in creating a revitalized organization capable of achieving our public service mission – providing a nationwide, integrated network for the delivery of mail and packages at least six days a week – in a cost-effective and financially sustainable manner over the long term, just as the U.S. Congress has intended.

The Postal Service continues to offer USPS Ground Advantage – a ground shipping solution that provides a simple, reliable, and affordable way to ship packages across the continental U.S. with 2-5 day certain delivery based on distance. USPS Ground Advantage offers $100 insurance included in the price, as well as free pickup on the carrier’s route. No price increases are being proposed for USPS Ground Advantage.

The PRC will review the changes before they are scheduled to take effect. The complete Postal Service price filing, with prices for all products, can be found on the PRC website under the Daily Listings section . The Mailing Services filing is Docket No. CP2024-295.The price tables are also available on the Postal Service’s Postal Explorer website at  pe.usps.com/PriceChange/Index .

The United States Postal Service is an independent federal establishment, mandated to be self-financing and to serve every American community through the affordable, reliable and secure delivery of mail and packages to 167 million addresses six and often seven days a week. Overseen by a bipartisan Board of Governors, the Postal Service is implementing a 10-year transformation plan, Delivering for America , to modernize the postal network, restore long-term financial sustainability, dramatically improve service across all mail and shipping categories, and maintain the organization as one of America’s most valued and trusted brands.

The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.

These wireless headphones with 'SMC drivers' have set a new standard for me

ZDNET's key takeaways

  • The Dali IO-12 are a wonderfully crafted pair of high-end, closed-back Bluetooth headphones. You can find them online for $1,300.
  • The patented audio components produce a clear, smooth, and detailed sound profile.
  • The IO-12 are large, heavy, and not portable, so you should leave them at home.

When I listen to music, I love picking apart the songs and noticing as many small details as possible. The best part of my day is when I can throw on my favorite headphones , sit in a comfy chair, and get lost in my favorite songs.

Unfortunately, most Bluetooth headphones don't let me hear every part of a song, forcing me to resort to wired listening. Bluetooth connections can't sustain the large amounts of data needed to listen in perfect audio quality, and the codecs that promise higher sample rates and bit depths aren't always easy to access on your smartphone .

Also: Finally, Focal's new headphones have all the best audio tech without the $1,000 price tag

Bluetooth's pitfalls are why people in the audiophile community recommend wired, passive, open-back headphones for unblemished audio quality. Such cans might be intimidating to people who don't have fancy audio interfaces or don't know what it means to "drive" a pair of headphones.

So, given that people online have crowned the Dali IO-12 as the "best-sounding Bluetooth ANC headphones," I was delighted when the company sent me a pair to try. If you consider yourself an audiophile, but your setup consists of only an iPhone and a cheap digital-to-analog converter dongle, let me explain why these headphones are the ones you've been looking for.

I'll get straight to the point: These headphones sound phenomenal. The IO-12 feature 50mm custom drivers made from the company's patented soft magnetic composite (SMC) technology .

There's a lot of convoluted physics behind the SMC technology -- so stay with me. In a speaker, currents move through the voice coils, creating a magnetic field. The magnetic field causes the coil to react to another magnet, which creates movement in the speaker cone, resulting in sound waves. SMC is used in the driver magnets, and it's the secret sauce that decreases harmonic distortion, allowing for a buttery smooth listening experience.

This may sound cheesy, but listening to Michael Jackson's Human Nature  through the IO-12 moved me to tears. The staccato plucks of the electric guitar were reproduced so clearly, earnestly representing the song's melancholy vibe in the pre-chorus.

Jackson's vocals and harmonies in the upper midrange had a velvety feel, and his iconic high-pitched vocal run between verses didn't even come close to piercing my eardrums, even at high volume. For closed-back headphones, the IO-12 have an incredibly wide and airy soundstage with commendable audio imaging.

Also: Sonos' new S2 app simplifies audio control, but there's a catch - or two

If you close your eyes, you can visualize where the vocalist and their accompanying musicians may be in the room -- it's that good. Even a pop song like NSYNC's Bye Bye Bye receives depth and a sense of artistry that might have been previously disregarded.

Because the IO-12 headphones don't have a companion app, you won't have EQ settings or any fancy software features. I would argue that these headphones are so perfectly tuned that you don't need an app. Buttons on the ear cups dictate power, volume, track skips, audio modes, and play/pause. Your ANC options are "On," "Off," and "Transparency." The ANC is nothing to write home about, but it does add a light layer of protection from quiet environmental noises to keep you focused on the music.

The IO-12 have two audio modes: Bass and Hi-Fi. I preferred listening with the Bass setting enabled. It adds a roundness to the music, making listening more fun, without muddying or overpowering the other frequencies. Hi-Fi mode is balanced and clear, but lacks the thump and fullness that I like.

The IO-12 sport oversized, plushy ear cups, and the cups and headband are made from genuine leather, while the headband extenders are made of aluminum. The headphones stay comfortable during long listening sessions, which is good because the battery boasts 35 hours of continuous audio playback.

Also: YouTube's new AI-powered 'Jump Ahead' feature lets you skip to the good part

Unfortunately, the IO-12 are huge, slightly heavy, and not portable; I don't recommend lugging these on your daily commute. Dali gives you a well-constructed carrying case (which is also huge) to keep the IO-12 safe and clean when not in use. Inside the case are USB-C and 3.5mm headphone cables for wired listening.

I would treat the IO-12 like a pair of open-back headphones. Leave them at home for quiet, intimate listening sessions in a comfy chair. They struggle with sound leakage and their portability score is subpar.

ZDNET's buying advice

The Dali IO-12 are the closest thing you'll get to the luxurious sound, feel, and look you get from open-back headphones without actually buying open-back headphones. If you prefer to listen wire-free but want headphones with state-of-the-art audio tech that overcomes the struggles of lower-quality Bluetooth audio, these are for you.

Also: The best headphones: Expert tested and reviewed

The IO-12's only punch in the gut is that they cost $1,300, but that's still less than comparable open-back headphones from high-end brands like Audeze and Focal. If you want to invest in your ears, the Dali IO-12 won't disappoint.

For alternatives, if you're set on open-back headphones, consider the Sennheiser HD 660S2 . If you want an elevated pair of closed-back headphones but the IO-12 are too expensive, consider the Bowers & Wilkins Px8 .

Ipad 2024: thinnest-ever ipad pro, m4 chip, ipad air, big price cuts.

Apple’s special “Let Loose” event on Tuesday turned out to be the biggest change to the iPad lineup ever to be contained in one day. It brought four new iPads, saw one model discontinued and one with a hefty price drop. Plus, there was the introduction of a next-gen AI processor, the M4, debuting on the iPad Pro instead of the Mac. Here’s what’s new.

iPad Pro 2024.

In a keynote running around 40 minutes, Apple announced a completely different lineup to its iPad range. Only one tablet, the iPad mini, was left untouched.

iPad Price Cut And Cancelation

The ninth-generation iPad was the last to feature Touch ID on the front glass. It was retired on Tuesday. The 10th-generation model, when it launched in fall 2022, was noticeably higher priced. Today, that price dropped by $100, down to $349, a pretty compelling price for a full-screen tablet with 10.9-inch display.

iPad Air in four new colors.

In contrast, the new iPad Air comes with a slightly bigger screen than before, 11 inches, and adds a second screen size, 13 inches, which has never been seen before. The previous Air had the Apple M1 chip on board, and that’s been bumped up to M2—the same processor that powers the latest iMac.

The Best Mattress For Couples, Regardless Of Your Sleep Styles

Wwe smackdown results winners and grades on may 10 2024, the 8 best trampolines with insights from an industry expert, ipad air price cut.

In the U.S., the price of the new 11-inch iPad Air is the same as the previous model with a 10.9-inch screen, that is, from $599. But not only is the new device faster, with a slightly bigger screen, it also doubles the entry storage level from 64GB to 128GB.

However, the news is even better for customers in the U.K. The previous price of £669 has now dropped to £599.

The larger iPad Air with 13-inch screen, also with 128GB storage, costs from $799, £799 in the U.K.

The super-slim iPad Pro.

iPad Pro With M4 Processor

The new iPad Pro comes in two sizes, 11-inch and 13-inch. Both offer a new, sleek design that’s remarkably thin (5.3mm and 5.1mm thick, respectively). The iPad Pro is not just the thinnest-ever iPad, but the thinnest Apple product ever. It’s thinner than the iPod nano.

Both come with OLED screens, and not just OLED but what’s called Tandem OLED, which uses two displays in one to offer greater brightness—arguably OLED’s weak spot.

Oh, and the processor is an all-new model, the Apple M4 chip: it has leapfrogged conventional wisdom that would have armed it with M3. But AI is coming and Apple says the M4 chip makes the iPads AI-ready. You might have expected the next generation of Apple silicon to debut on a Mac. That it’s here is Apple’s way of saying how seriously it’s taking both the iPad and AI.

Apple iPad Pro and Apple Pencil Pro.

Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro

The new keyboard accessory comes in two sizes ($299 and $349), but for the iPad Pro only. It offers a keyboard much closer to the outstanding experience found on the MacBook Air or MacBook Pro.

And the new Apple Pencil Pro ($129) includes, as predicted, a new squeeze function and a rolling feature to change the orientation of the brush stroke.

All the new products go on sale next week.

Planet Fitness to raise new basic membership fee 50% this summer

new excursion price

New members of Planet Fitness will have a heavier lift this summer – the fitness chain is raising its basic membership price for the first time since 1998.One of the nation's largest gym chains, Planet Fitness will raise the price of its Classic Card membership from $10 monthly to $15 this summer, the New Hampshire-headquartered company says.

Planet Fitness will also do price testing for its Black Card, currently priced at $24.99 monthly. Black Card members can bring a guest, use any Planet Fitness location and get other perks.

"It is not going to come as a shock to anybody that we are moving a price that's been in effect for a long, long time, 25 years," interim CEO Craig Benson said Thursday during a call with analysts about the company's financial results in the first quarter of 2024 (Jan.-March).

"We think it is the right time to do it," he said. "We also think it's the right time to look at different options on the Black Card, which may or may not change."

Mother's Day 2024: Deals and specials for fast food, brunch and dining

How much is the monthly membership price going up at Planet Fitness?

Current members paying $10 per month will not see a price change "for the duration of their membership," chief financial officer Thomas Fitzgerald said.

But new members will eventually pay a $15 monthly membership fee.

When does the new membership price at Planet Fitness go into effect?

The price change for the classic monthly membership goes into effect this summer, Fitzgerald said. The company executives did not state a specific date for its adoption. But after the price change goes into effect this summer newcomers will pay a $15 monthly membership fee.

How long has the $10-a-month rate been in effect at Planet Fitness?

The gym chain's classic card membership has been priced $10 since 1998, six years after the company was founded in Dover, New Hampshire.

Is the Black Club membership also being raised?

Planet Fitness will do tests on increased prices for the Black Card membership at about the same time this summer when the classic card membership price increases from $10 to $15 for new members.

The company expects to offer "a few different iterations" of Black Card membership, Benson said, perhaps swapping in and out of perks at different price levels.

Why does Planet Fitness need to raise prices?

As with most corporate decisions, the bottom line is the reason for a price increase. For starters, it's costing Planet Fitness more to provide the facilities for its members than in the past. Based on inflation, the $10 monthly membership would be about $20 today, Fitzgerald said.

Planet Fitness added 900,000 members in the first three months of 2024, below what investors expected – typically, New Year's resolutions lead to new members. A rise in respiratory diseases including RSV and COVID during January may have hindered new members, Benson said.

The company's January advertising campaign was also not as successful as hoped. "The lack of a price point in our national funded January sale ads may have created less urgency for consumers to get off the couch and join," Benson said. He will step down as interim CEO next month when new CEO Colleen Keating, a hospitality and property management executive, joins the company.

Also affecting the chain: Attention from media and social networks after Planet Fitness terminated the membership of an Alaska woman who posted a complaint online about “a man shaving in a women’s bathroom," as reported by The Washington Post.

Benson said the company's nondiscrimination policy – it allows members to use the fitness center's facilities they choose based on their self-reported gender identity – has been in place for more than a decade and is similar to other fitness centers including the YMCA.

Planet Fitness – with 2,599 stores in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Canada, Panama, Mexico and Australia – reported first-quarter revenue of $248 million, about what analysts expected. But the company lowered its full-year revenue to a 4%-6% increase, down from 6%-7%.

Shares of Planet Fitness are up more than 9% for the week, after being down about 11% so far this year.

No, Donald Trump, Biden’s Economy Is Not Like Weimar Germany’s

An illustration depicting the blue silhouette of Donald Trump being pulled into the air by blue balloons, as a red hat falls of his head.

By Peter Coy

At a May 1 rally in Waukesha, Wis., Donald Trump said that when he was president “we had no inflation,” and that now “we have record horrible inflation” that is “getting worse.” All three of those claims are, of course, incorrect. Trump also described inflation as “a country buster” that destroyed Germany, presumably referring to the hyperinflation of 1923, which was the year of Adolf Hitler’s failed beer-hall putsch.

Even for Trump, who loves to work up a crowd, that’s too far.

President Biden does have an inflation problem, but it’s not a Weimar Germany kind of problem. Economists expect that when the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the Consumer Price Index for April next week, the annual change will come in around 3.4 percent. Contrast that with Germany in 1923, when people paid for goods with wheelbarrows of cash and burned bank notes to keep themselves warm. To compare the United States’ modestly-above-target inflation with Germany’s hyperinflation is inflated hype.

I won’t get into why Americans are so upset about inflation that they might choose Trump over Biden in November. Many commentators, including me and my Opinion colleagues Binyamin Appelbaum and Paul Krugman , have taken shots at that question.

I want to look at a different question, which is whether inflation would be lower if Trump won. Or, as I suspect, higher.

When I wrote about the economic outlooks under a second Biden term and another Trump term , one clear message I heard from economists was that many of Trump’s priorities could reignite inflation. The most obvious is his threat to raise tariffs on almost all imports, and raise them more on imports from China. The cost of those tariffs would be borne in part by the exporting nations, but even more by American consumers and industry. “I think we should have a ring around the collar” of the U.S. economy, Trump told Fox Business last year, apparently mixing up old laundry detergent commercials with the mercantilist metaphor of a protective ring of defense around domestic industry.

Trump also wants to extend all of the tax cuts in the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, many of which are scheduled to expire at the end of 2025, which would keep budget deficits high. That would be inflationary, although only moderately so, because those cuts are already in place and most of the continued dollar savings would go to upper-income households, which have a lower propensity to consume out of each dollar saved.

Deporting undocumented immigrants — he has promised “the largest domestic deportation operation in American history” — is a big applause line for Trump on the campaign circuit. But that would push up labor costs, also stoking inflation.

One other way Trump could fuel inflation would be by pressuring the Federal Reserve to go along with lowering interest rates to juice economic growth. That’s something he repeatedly sought from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell during his presidency. But Powell has made it clear that he doesn’t take orders from the White House. His term as chair ends on May 15, 2026 .

If the next president doesn’t reappoint Powell as chair, he has the option to finish out his term as governor, which ends in January 2028, although he might choose retirement. One other seat comes up for grabs in January 2026, and there could be other openings on the seven-member board in the coming four years if other governors choose not to serve out their terms.

To summarize, there was not zero inflation when Trump was president. It is not at a record high now. It is not rising. It is not making the United States go bust. And Trump’s policies would most likely not help the situation. If this were just hot air on the campaign trail, we might be able to ignore it. But Trump has a track record of doing some pretty crazy things. If he is re-elected, letting prices inflate once again might well be one of them.

You wrote about mortgage portability . There is a device for “moving” a mortgage to secure a different piece of property and it is commonly used, albeit for a different reason/form, in commercial transactions. Collateral (mortgage) “spreader agreements” are often used to encumber new property to secure an existing or “old” debt. There are already procedures in place (in my opinion) that could allow for this in securitized trusts. In practice, this is no more complicated than to qualify the new property, issue a new or amended title policy and “close the deal.”

The fact that the residential mortgage industry doesn’t want this is completely addressed in your article. They simply do not see an incentive to work that hard.

I appreciated your discussion of what might happen if the perceived risk of investing in the United States increases. I summarize related studies from a broad set of countries in this report on the financial and economic dangers of democratic backsliding. Three themes emerge: First, weak rule of law reduces investment. Second, political uncertainty often disrupts asset markets. Third, political actors who seek to undermine democratic practices also often have a populist, anti-globalization orientation.

The United States is not immune from political risk. And it is difficult for investors to diversify away from risks that emanate from the center of the global financial system.

Quote of the Day

“And as I was saving these little sums I soon learned that I could get as much interest for 50 dollars loaned at 7 percent — the legal rate in the state of New York at that time for a year — as I could earn by digging potatoes for 100 days. The impression was gaining ground with me that it was a good thing to let the money be my slave and not make myself a slave to money.”
