RISE & SET collaborated with SHEIN on their first #SHEINescapes event, a three-day Influencer marketing trip to promote the fashion brand’s summer collection. RISE & SET chartered a private jet to transport nine influencers from LA to Anguilla, where they stayed in a stunning Caribbean villa, Le Bleu. RISE & SET transformed the villa into a SHEIN wonderland, branding the entrance, private beach, swimming pools and bedrooms with SHEIN-branded items and photo-moments. On the first evening, guests enjoyed a poolside cocktail party with mixologist-crafted custom drinks. The next day started with beachfront yoga before guests embarked on a private catamaran excursion. The day ended with a dinner party, courtesy of the villa’s award-winning Executive Chef. The final day began with an ATV tour, followed by an afternoon at Rendezvous Bay Beach with sunset horseback riding, glass bottomed kayaking, and tubing. To round off the trip, guests enjoyed a champagne toast and a surprise fireworks display. RISE & SET handled all of the logistics, vendor management, and orchestrated all excursions and activities. RISE & SET worked with MATTE Projects production company to capture all elements of the trip.

Influencers gave glowing reviews of Shein's fast fashion factories. Backlash ensued
With over 29 million Instagram followers and the largest fast fashion market share in the U.S., Shein has no shortage of devotees.
But the retail giant, known for its low prices, has also come under fire over allegations of environmental harm or abusive labor practices. This June, the corporation has opened its doors in what appears to be a bid for a cleaner public image — and incited controversy in the process.
In a rare move among fashion retailers, Shein invited social media influencers last week for a tour of a model factory in Guangzhou, China, called the “Innovation Factory .” Since then, the trip has put heat on the influencers for promoting a brand well-known for backlash over ethical issues.
“With this PR stunt, Shein is trying to position itself and fight against the reputation that it has as a fast fashion behemoth that is exploitative and careless in how it thinks about the ethics along its supply chain,” Shivika Sinha, founder of the sustainable styling service Veneka and former fashion marketing consultant, tells TODAY.com.
What are the allegations against Shein?
Multiple news investigations and documentaries have investigated conditions at other Guangzhou factories used by Shein (the influencers visited one out of thousands ). A Swiss advocacy group, Public Eye, found that employees worked 75-hour work weeks. A Channel4 documentary found that they were paid for less than $20 per week.
The company was also reported to be sourcing cotton from Xinjiang, per a Bloomberg-funded laboratory test , where the Chinese government has been accused of holding hundreds of thousands of ethnic minorities in internment camps and forcing them to pick cotton or work in textile factories.
The brand has also faced criticism over environmental and health concerns. In 2021, CBC Marketplace reported that Shein was selling toddlers’ jackets containing almost 20 times the amount of lead that Health Canada permits for children.
Perhaps the most prominent criticism, however, has focused on Shein's high-consumption business model, propelled by its low clothing prices. The company produces tens of thousands of garments per day and reportedly releases over 6.3 million tons of carbon per year, roughly equivalent to 180 coal power plants, per Synthetics Anonymous 2.0, a report published on fashion sustainability.
The company has appeared to take some of consumers’ concerns regarding sustainability into account for its marketing efforts. In April 2022, the brand launched evoluSHEIN, a line of clothing items made partially with recycled polyester.
“Consumers these days are no longer looking just at price,” Shein executive vice president Donald Tang said at the World Retail Congress in Barcelona this past April. “In the next phase of growth we need to think everything we do with ESG in mind.”
ESG stands for “environmental, social, and governance” and generally refers to the social responsibility of corporate practices.
Who were the influencers and what did they see on the trip?
Shein is known to use influencers at the center of its marketing strategy, which caters largely to Gen Z consumers.
In 2018, Shein's first year expanding marketing efforts to India, the company collaborated with around 2,000 local influencers, per an interview with Shein's then-marketing officer for India , and was reaching out to more influencers daily. Shein was banned by India in 2019, then relaunched in 2023.
TikTok is an especially important platform for the brand in this regard, with videos of Shein clothing hauls generating billions of views.
“They really understand how to work with influencers, how to parlay with these platforms really well in a way that Zara and H&M just weren’t able to do,” Sinha says. “And so it makes sense that they reached out to influencers to do this.”
The influencers on the factory trip included Dani Carbonari (known as Dani DMC), Destene Sudduth, Aujené, Fernanda Campuzano, Kenya Freeman, and Marina Saavedra. TODAY.com has reached out for comment. Some TikToks were taken down.
The influencers spoke to factory workers, according to their videos, and reported their findings.
"When I asked them questions like, 'What does your work week look like?' Most of them work 8 to 6 and their commute is 10 to 15 minutes, just like normal," Sudduth said in one of her videos posted on Instagram. "I expected this facility to be filled with people salving away. I was pleasantly surprised that most things were robotic. Everybody was just working like normal. They weren't even sweating."
Sudduth's caption pointed to the intent of the trip, which seemed to be letting influencers see things for themselves: "Thoroughly enjoying this experience and seeing things with my own eyes."
The videos by Sudduth and the other influencers featured clips of clothing items being transported on automated rail systems and workers sitting at clean desks under bright white lights.
Outside of the “Innovation Factory,” the influencers’ trip included brand-sponsored luxury hotel rooms, excursions in Guangzhou, and a ten-course dinner.
Influencer Fernanda Campuzano, who was on the trip and has a fashion line with Shein, described the professional opportunities the trip posed in a statement to TODAY.
“This program has given me the opportunity to manufacture and sell my designs to customers worldwide while promoting my own brand which is something no other company has ever offered me before," she wrote. "This trip to Shein's innovation center was an opportunity to see for myself how my designs come to life in real time as well as to see more of the behind the scenes of how Shein operates.”
Alden Wicker, a freelance investigative journalist with bylines in the New York Times, Wired, and Vogue, tells TODAY.com that the influencer trip was unconventional in that most fashion brands do not allow visitors in the factories that they contract with. She said that she even once tried to arrange a visit to a Los Angeles factory contracted by Reformation, a brand that markets itself as sustainable fashion, and was blocked.
“I think somebody who was more astute or who was actually a seasoned investigative journalist — they would have been able to see through a lot of this,” Wicker says, responding to Carbonari calling herself an "investigative journalist" in a video. “They would have noticed the things that they weren’t allowed to see or the questions they weren’t allowed to ask … She was able to be manipulated very easily into thinking that this was a full view into their supply chain.”
In a statement to TODAY, Shein said the trip was part of the company’s “commitment to transparency.”
“This trip reflects one way in which we are listening to feedback, providing an opportunity to show a group of influencers how SHEIN works through a visit to our innovation center and enabling them to share their own insights with their followers,” a Shein spokesperson wrote. “Their social media videos and commentary are authentic, and we respect and stand by each influencer’s perspective and voice on their experience. We look forward to continuing to provide more transparency around our on-demand business model and operations.”
What has been the response to the trip?
The factory trip has sparked backlash across social media platforms and in the influencers’ own comment sections.
Kara Fabella, an Instagram influencer focused on sustainable fashion, tells TODAY.com that the slow fashion community is “appalled at the hypocrisy of it all.”
“One of the big things that I’ve had discussions about with my peers is the fact that they really targeted a lot of plus size as well as POC influencers,” Fabella says. “And there’s such an irony to that because not only are they exploiting voices within the fashion influencer space of typically quote-unquote ‘marginalized’ groups, but it’s also (that) Shein is one of the worst abusers of human rights issues within the garment worker factory space.”
Although she sees the influencer trip as a PR stunt, Sinha says it was “heartening” that it seemed to signal to her how the pressure on Shein from consumers regarding sustainability and ethics was making enough of a difference for the company to pay attention.
“It means that something is happening internally in their corporate conversations,” Sinha says. “Enough has happened outside of them for them to sit up and take notice of this issue. I think it’s up to consumers and advocates to keep pushing and to keep holding them accountable and to not be disheartened whatsoever."

How the Shein influencer trip marked a turning point in the brand-sponsored vacation trend
Company said influencer videos were 'authentic' reactions to facility tour.
Influencers' sponsored trip to Shein factory criticized
Social sharing.
Several influencers were lambasted this week for social media posts enthusiastically highlighting a trip sponsored by the Chinese fast fashion clothing retailer Shein, which has previously been accused of labour exploitation and environmentally damaging practices.
A since-deleted video posted by Dani Carbonari, who in her Instagram bio refers to herself as a content creator, plus-sized model and confidence activist, shows her arriving at a facility she calls the "Shein Innovation Centre" in Ghangzhou, China, last week.
"Shein is just such a developed and complex company, and it was so beautiful to see first hand," Carbonari said in the video. Referring to herself as an investigative journalist, Carbonari says she interviewed a woman who works in the fabric cutting department.
Carbonari doesn't share the questions she asked nor the responses she received, but says the woman told her about her family, her hours and her commute.
"She answered honestly and authentically. She was very surprised at all the rumours [about Shein] that had been spread in the U.S.," said Carbonari, who has 481,000 followers on Instagram and 297,000 on TikTok.
Other influencers featured in a video posted by the company included Destene Sudduth and AuJené Butler.
Shein is best known for selling on-trend garments at cheap prices, like a $13 dress or a $3 T-shirt, producing about 6,000 items of clothing per day. Its website was among the 100 most visited sites on the internet in the last month, according to website analytics firm SimilarWeb.
While brand-sponsored influencer trips are an increasingly common marketing ploy for companies with a young target audience, experts say the Shein trip marked a departure, by having influencers attest to the company's virtues rather than simply promote its products.
Influencers on blast: how a Shein factory trip backfired | About That
Shein says influencer videos are 'authentic'.
Lia Haberman, an adjunct instructor of influencer marketing at the University of California Los Angeles Extension, said the fact that the social media videos mostly focused on the company's labour practices and working conditions caught her eye.
"There's a difference between an influencer trip that includes subtle product placement or even product endorsement … and an influencer trip that essentially serves as propaganda for a company," said Haberman.
CBC News reached out to Shein for a statement. A spokesperson said that the trip involving Carbonari, Sudduth and Butler was meant to provide "an opportunity to show a group of influencers how SHEIN works through a visit to our innovation center and enabling them to share their own insights with their followers."
"Their social media videos and commentary are authentic, and we respect and stand by each influencer's perspective and voice on their experience," the spokesperson said.
The company has long been accused of a lack of transparency and of greenwashing, in which an organization misleadingly presents itself as eco-friendly. A 2021 CBC Marketplace investigation found two Shein items that contained hazardous amounts of lead.
In November, Bloomberg reported that the cotton used in the company's clothing could be traced to China's Xinjiang region, where the country is alleged to have committed human rights abuses against the minority Muslim Uyghur population, including forced labour.
Consequently, U.S. lawmakers reportedly asked the Securities and Exchange Commission to put the brakes on an initial public offering of Shein until the company can independently substantiate that it does not use forced labour.
Going on a Shein-sponsored trip, using custom Shein-branded luggage and making positive content using Shein-mandated hashtags is not being “an independent thinker”. To dismiss the investigative work of genuine journalists like Iman Amrani as “rumours” is just being a propagandist — @SophieBenson_
In a follow-up Instagram video posted on Monday, Carbonari said, "I'm sorry and sad that a lot of people that don't know me are so angry and upset."
"But the best thing that I can do moving forward is to lead with the same intention and authenticity I always have."
'No excuse'
Sarah Jay, a Toronto-based sustainability consultant, said that Shein gives a misleading impression of eco-friendly practices by producing a small batch of product and waiting to see how it sells — then ramping up their production cycle if an item goes viral.
There's "no excuse" for the volume of clothing that Shein produces, says Jay.
and even if shein working conditions were top tier —? fast fashion EVERYWHERE is still an active threat to the environment and that is a fact that remains? Shein gets most of the smoke because it is the LARGEST competitor on the market! there is alot or valid criticism there — @guavavenezolana
"I think it is suspicious for a brand to make this type of investment [in an influencer trip] as opposed to investing those resources elsewhere into their sustainability platform, into disclosures and setting targets and increasing their positive impact and ensuring a livable wage," Jay said.
"It's also important to understand that influencers were invited to experience part of the process — they're not certified social or environmental impact auditors," said Jay. "They have agendas and, you know, content that they prefer to create."
- Ultra-fast fashion site Shein has captured the wallets of young shoppers. But at what cost?
- Marketplace Experts warn of high levels of chemicals in clothes by some fast-fashion retailers
Haberman offered a different perspective, noting that the company chose influencers from underrepresented communities in the fashion world, such as racialized and plus-sized influencers, who might not get as many paid opportunities or exposure as others.
"Whether it was feeling like they're finally recognized and appreciated, whether they just didn't grasp the nuance of what was happening … I think that Shein probably tapped into a group of influencers that it felt would be more receptive to their message."
Haberman said there's a risk other companies could follow in Shein's footsteps by using influencers to amplify the impression of clean, safe working conditions and humane labour practices while continuing abuses behind closed doors.
"I think that Shein has maybe set a precedent for what brands now think they'll be able to do with influencers."

How the Shein Brand Trip Became a Disaster for a Group of Influencers
T he Chinese clothing company Shein, known for its incredibly low prices and popularized by influencers trying on “hauls” of their clothing items on TikTok, has been the subject of numerous reports criticizing its business practices. A detailed Wired investigation published last year cited an audit Shein conducted of its suppliers which found that 12 percent “had committed ‘zero tolerance violations,’ which could include underage labor, forced labor, or severe health and safety issues.” The Swiss watchdog Public Eye issued a report alleging the violation of Chinese labor laws. And a documentary released by British public broadcaster Channel 4 in October 2022, “ Inside the Shein Machine: UNTOLD ,” brought hidden cameras into its factories to reveal employees working for as long as 18 hours per day and earning around two cents per items, while forgoing weekends and getting one day off per month. The significant number of reports to this effect made it surprising when, earlier this month, a group of influencers went on a Shein-sponsored trip to tour the company’s “innovation center” in China and posted positive videos about their experiences.
More from TIME
The company invited the influencers on an official brand trip to Guangzhou, China, to get what it promised would be an inside look at how their garments are designed, manufactured, and shipped. But the influencers drew criticism over the weekend after one of the them, Dani Carbonari ( @itsdanidmc ), uploaded a now-deleted Instagram reel in which she said that she was going into this trip as an “investigative journalist” and that she “interviewed” a woman who worked in the fabric-cutting department. The reel also touted the company’s working conditions, the center’s large footprint, and innovative technology. Carbonari, who has over 297,000 followers on TikTok, where she normally shares fashion and makeup content, came under fire for inaccurately presenting herself as a journalist and for taking the company’s public relations messages at face value.
As the trip began to receive more attention on social media, many began questioning the influencers’ decision to accept the free trip despite the numerous reports alleging labor abuses , potential use of hazardous materials , poor working conditions , and contribution to the climate crisis — all of which Shein has either denied or vowed to correct . And as Washington Post journalist Taylor Lorenz noted in an Instagram reel , the influencers’ unfiltered positive reports also raised questions about media literacy and the proliferation of unchallenged propaganda on social media, given that younger people increasingly get their news from TikTok as opposed to traditional media outlets.
Catalina Goanta, an associate professor at Utrecht University and influencer marketing expert, tells TIME that this trip will ultimately cost more for the creators than for the company, and especially for Carbonari, who she says made several missteps. She also says that, bigger picture, the situation highlights the “duty of care” influencers should—but won’t necessarily—have when it comes to what amounts to political messaging. Goanta also points to research from business and human rights experts that speaks to, in general, “a disguised consumer manipulation element in influencers endorsing companies that engage in violations of labor rights in manufacturing.”
I was at a loss for words honestly 😭 they took her to the model unit equivalent of the sweatshops like this can’t be pic.twitter.com/aJtWcSycEh — the goat of yapping (@thisisnefertiti) June 22, 2023
TIME reached out to Carbonari, Sudduth, and three other influencers who were on the trip. Kenya Freeman, a fashion designer who has worked with Shein for two years and went on the trip, was the only person who agreed to be interviewed by TIME.
An attempt to rehabilitate the brand
There is a broader business context for the Shein brand trip: According to Reuters , Shein is planning for an IPO (initial public offering) in the United States this year. However, in May, a group of two dozen U.S. representatives asked the Securities and Exchange Commission to stop the IPO until the company can verify that it does not use forced labor to create its garments. In response, Reuters reports, “A spokesperson for Shein said the company has ‘zero tolerance’ for forced labor and that suppliers are required to adhere to ‘a strict code of conduct that is aligned to the International Labour Organization’s core conventions.’”
Lorenz says in her reel that the company has set out to rehab its image, and this influencer brand trip appears to be just one of the steps toward doing so.
In an emailed statement to TIME, a spokesperson said that the company is “committed to transparency, and this trip reflects one way in which we are listening to feedback, providing an opportunity to show a group of influencers how Shein works through a visit to our innovation center and enabling them to share their own insights with their followers.”
A swift and overwhelmingly negative response
While Carbonari received the most engagement from the content she shared, the other content creators on the trip were also met with backlash for the posts they uploaded about their experiences. Destene Sudduth, an influencer with over four million TikTok followers, shared videos from the “innovation center” and said she also interviewed the workers about their working conditions. “Upon interviewing the workers, a lot of them were confused and taken aback” by the negative press about the company.”
Sudduth also said she was expecting to see people “slaving away” but said the workers were “chill” and “not even sweating.”
The negative response from social media was swift and overwhelming. In response to the criticism she received, Carbonari uploaded two now-deleted posts on TikTok. In one more casual video, she rejects the idea of being a “sellout” and accused those who were commenting negatively on her videos of espousing xenophobic and racist rhetoric. The other was a more polished response video in which she shared some of the notes she said she took when speaking with the “higher-ups” during a dinner on the brand trip. In the same video, she says that she “signed a deal” with Shein and mentioned that “as a plus-size creator, [she] is, about 60%, of the time, underpaid, and they have definitely not underpaid me and taken great care of me.”
this influencer is being dragged for her recent Shein brand trip to China, so I translated her explanation Tiktok pic.twitter.com/xjHbX7QMOn — Franchesca Ramsey (@chescaleigh) June 25, 2023
Freeman tells TIME that Shein invited her on the trip to China back in April after attending an event hosted by the company. When asked why she decided to go, despite the well-documented criticism of Shein, she said she was “looking at [the trip] as an opportunity to really see with my own eyes, what people are saying.”
She adds that the women who went on the trip, including Carbonari, were met with bullying online and death threats after posting their content. “I hear you with sustainability. I hear you with human rights violation. I hear you on the whole thing,” she says. “But it’s kind of hard for me to digest all of that, when these are the same people that’s telling me to jump off a bridge.”
Influencer marketing gone wrong
It is not uncommon for influencers to go on marketing trips for brands in which they receive free airfare, accommodations, and products in exchange for posting content. This can sometimes backfire for the brand, when influencers share unfiltered content about the experience. In this case, it is the influencers for whom the trip has backfired.
The biggest misstep Carbonari made, according to Goanta, was her “investigative journalist” remark, which suggests that she was there to “confront Shein,” when the content she posted made it seem more like “she was just there to be the spokesperson of a company.” Goanta also criticizes her decision to speak about not getting paid fairly as a plus-sized influencer in the “same context as a situation where you have these labor violations, which are universally acknowledged as human rights problems.” Conflating the issues she faces as an influencer with those of factory workers came off to many as privileged and insensitive.
Lastly, she says all of the influencers were essentially used in what she calls “human political ads.” In one of her response videos, Carbonari laments the “propaganda” that is spread in the U.S. about “Chinese people and Chinese culture” and that her trip to China “changed [her] life.” Goanta tells TIME that Carbonari deflecting from accusations against Shein by talking about anti-Chinese propaganda can be seen as political advertising and disinformation. “The emerging threat is the capture of public discourse by influencers who are paid to communicate political messages,” she writes in an email.
Goanta says that influencers should have more of “a duty of care” to their followers, a standard which of course is not easy, or perhaps even possible, to enforce. ”If you’re going to put out information like, ‘Oh, there’s propaganda in the U.S.’ and you’re actually not very diligent in how you convey that message, you could potentially end up doing a lot of harm with the misinformation that you perpetuate.”
If anything comes from this brand trip, it may be that influencers in the future ask a few more questions before deciding to fly across the world for a company.

The weight of the box used for consolidation is added to the sum of the weights of the parcels in the consolidation for the calculation of forwarding fees.
You have the option to repack your parcels in the case of consolidation to reduce their volume. This option is only available when the Volumetric Weight rule applies. You can approve the repackaging request when paying the forwarding fees (or you can opt for automatic repackaging request in your Customer Space, under ‘My account’). We then make every effort to repackage the items in the consolidation into a smaller repackaging box.
Sealed parcels, technological products, or those labeled as ‘Fragile’ are excluded from repackaging.
In the case of successful repackaging, a discount will be calculated based on the savings achieved and will be valid for future forwardings. This discount will be equal to 50% of the difference between the shipping rates before and after repackaging. It will be valid for one year from its creation date.
We await your approval before proceeding with the forwarding of a single parcel or multiple parcels you have requested to consolidate.
If you approve your forwarding request before 7:030 AM (CET), the parcel will be forwarded on the same day if it is a business day.

An Itinerary for an Island Getaway to Anguilla
Anguilla is a those lesser-known Caribbean island compared to some of its more famous neighbors {ahem, like the Bahamas because #bahamamama} While that may mean more limited flight schedules, it also means seclusion and gorgeous {not super populated} beaches — the perfect winter {or any time of year} escape for sun, sand, and peace + quiet. Keep reading for everything you need to know about an island getaway to Anguilla.
How to Get There
While getting to Anguilla is not always the easiest to get to, it is definitely worth the trip. The runway at Clayton J. Lloyd Airport in Anguilla is not large enough to accept commercial jets, so you have a few options for how to get there — fly directly into Anguilla from a neighboring Caribbean island on a smaller prop plane or fly directly into St. Martin and take a ferry boat over. The ferry is about 45 minutes and is a really fun way to travel and clear your lungs of all that airplane air while sipping a rum punch in the sunshine {sounds solid to us}.
Where to Stay
Malliouhana { meads bay}.
Perched at the opposite end of Meads Bay from the Four Seasons, Malliouhana is a gem atop a cliff. This resort is a retro decor lovers paradise — painted rattan chairs in cool ocean tones, mirror tiles in the floors, and bold stripes at the pools decorate the property. Although the beach is a few steps down the hill and not right out the front door, it is worth every step. The beach is bluer than you can imagine and with no major resorts aside from the Four Seasons sharing the beach, you will have the beach almost completely to yourself.
Four Seasons Resort Anguilla {Barnes Bay, West End}
The Four Seasons Anguilla is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful resorts in the world. Located at the end of a point, the resort is sandwiched between two beaches : Meads Bay and Barnes Bay. The resort is peppered with spectacular artwork everywhere you turn. The property’s original owners carefully constructed the resort, filling it with sculptures costing millions of dollars and artwork that should be hanging in the Louvre. But don’t worry — the resort still has a very seaside, casual feel. Sit in the Sunset Lounge for the most perfect view of the sun setting.
Belmond Cap Juluca {Maundays Bay}
Suites with their own pools and stand-alone villas are sprinkled up and down the beach at Cap Juluca. The resort recently got a complete makeover and the new look is stunning. The Belmond brand is synonymous with refined luxury around the world and Cap Juluca is no exception.

Where to Eat
^ Some of the delicious crayfish you can get in Anguilla!
Despite Anguilla’s small size and very small population, it has some of the best restaurants in the entire Caribbean. Choosing where to eat will likely be a lengthy and difficult decision, but these are a few of the best:
Blanchard’s {Meads Bay}
Blanchard’s is one of the most popular restaurants in all of Anguilla and for good reason. Bob and Melinda Blanchard opened up this joint back in 1994 when they sold everything they owned to move to Anguilla. They serve up local specialties like grilled Anguillan crayfish in the restaurant’s adorable cottage setting. If you love their food but want a more laid back meal, consider visiting their beach shack located adjacent to the main building for some more casual seaside fare.
Veya { Reverend Carty Road, Sandy Ground}
The owners of Veya have dubbed its food as the “cuisine of the sun”, which means you can expect a lot of exotic flavors, some you’ve probably never tried before. Indian spiced yellow pea soup, snapper sauteed with mint, and warm chocolate cake with chili demonstrate these unique flavors that the restaurant is so well-known for. The restaurant has a bit of a treehouse feel with big windows that open up to the lush grounds that surround it. Sit up in the trees and enjoy the live music that they feature every night, like local musical legend Omari Banks.
Jacala {Meads Bay}
Owners Jacques and Alain {hence the name Jacala} brought French cuisine to the Caribbean in a big way. The atmosphere at Jacala is much quieter than that of other restaurants. When guests walk in, they’ll immediately feel at home in the quiet space.
da’Vida {Cocus Bay}
Located in the laid back and quiet Crocus Bay, elegant da’Vida is the only building to be found on the entire stretch of sand. It is truly worth the drive down the steep and windy road to get here. The fine-dining menu includes deliciousness such as seared Chinese spiced chicken, pan-seared miso grouper, and conch carpaccio.
Johnno’s Prickly Pear {Prickly Pear}
Johnno’s is not just your average restaurant that you can catch a taxi to. In order to visit Johnno’s, diners must take a boat out to Prickly Pear, a pair of uninhabited cays off the coast of Anguilla. The boat will pull up and visitors have to hop out into the water to make it onshore. Once there, it’s hard not to notice that the island doesn’t have electricity. The restaurant operates by a generator. Guests can dig elbows deep into huge platters of fresh-grilled seafood , jump in the ocean to wash it all off, and take a walk around the island to check out the local birds that inhabit it.

Although small, there is no shortage of things to do on the island of Anguilla. Here are a few must-do activities .
Visit Sandy Island
^ The view from Sandy Island!
Standing on the beach in the little village of Sandy Ground, many likely think to themselves that Anguilla can’t get much prettier. But then they’ll ll gaze out onto the horizon and see a little speck of an island and realize that it can get much, much prettier. That little speck of an island is known as Sandy Island {perfectly descriptive} and is accessible only by boat. The tiny little boat known as “Happiness” leaves Sandy Ground every hour and heads out to this little island.
Once there, hop in the water for some snorkeling and when you come out, head straight over to the bar. You’ll likely have worked up an appetite with all that swimming. It’s the perfect place to order a big plate of fresh grilled crayfish and rice and beans, a delicious local specialty. Sandy Island is definitely one of those places visitors will be thinking about long after they’ve returned home.
Take a Day Trip to St. Martin
The best part of Anguilla is how quiet it is, but that also means there is not much by way of shopping. Consider taking a boat ride over to neighboring St. Martin and get a fill of Caribbean culture and shopping. Visit either the French side known as St. Martin or the Dutch side of Sint Maarten which is unique to this island.
Ride Tiger Boats
Picture a jet ski with essentially an inflatable bumper around the edges — that is a tiger boat. The bumper gives riders a sturdier feel and helps them feel like they won’t be knocked off. On a tiger boat, people can ride into the smaller coves that larger boats can’t get into and can really explore the coastline and that turquoise water. It’s a great way to be out on the water without being on a large boat.

Anguilla in Pictures: 16 Beautiful Places to Photograph
Written by Carri Wilbanks Updated Sep 16, 2022 We may earn a commission from affiliate links ( )
Picture-perfect Anguilla is still a relatively untouched tropical paradise without a lot of big commercial development, making it a wonderful Caribbean destination for deserted-island-style photo shoots.
Basking on sugary white-sand shores is one of the top things to do in Anguilla . Surrounded by a calm, clear, and electric-blue sea, the beaches need no social media filters to shine. Here are the best places to capture beautiful pictures in Anguilla:
1. Shoal Bay East Beach
2. sandy ground beach, 3. barnes bay, 4. meads bay, 5. little bay, 6. rendezvous bay beach, 7. prickly pear island, 8. maundays bay, 9. cove bay, 10. island harbour, 11. sandy island, 12. savannah bay, 13. mv commerce, 14. anguilla limestone arch, 15. diving at shoal bay reef, 16. conch shells on cap juluca beach.
The hue of the water on Shoal Bay East Beach is absolutely stunning with its mix of turquoise and deep ocean blue juxtaposed against a clear blue sky and swaying palms right at the water's edge.
Whether you want to photograph a person or just the landscape, the palms make a great focal point in the sea of blue at what some consider one of the best beaches in Anguilla . It is also great for snorkeling, with coral gardens just offshore.
With a wrecked ship slowly rusting away at one end, Sandy Ground Beach makes a great photograph. The ship provides a focal point in the frothy turquoise sea and gold-sand backdrop. Sandy Ground is one of the most popular in Anguilla, and you'll find a number of restaurants along it, often with live music.
A wide sugar-white sandy beach meets a dark turquoise sea at photogenic Barnes Bay, which is one of Anguilla's top beaches. A number of upscale hotels are set along this pretty half-mile-long stretch of sand, including the posh Four Seasons Resort and Residences Anguilla .
Grab a different angle and step into the super shallow, almost green-hued water at Meads Bay to point your camera back at shore like the photographer does in this image.
Meads Bay is one of the most popular beaches on Anguilla's west end. The white-sand beach here runs for 1.5 kilometers, and while the water is shallow to begin, it eventually gets deep enough to swim.
Only accessible by boat or by rappelling down a cliffside, Little Bay is another one of the most picture-perfect beaches on Anguilla. The white-sand beach is small but stunning, with clear azure water juxtaposed against the white sand all surrounded by craggy cliffs. Most people visit on a day trip by boat from Crocus Bay.
Running for a few miles, Rendezvous Bay Beach is another gorgeous stretch of white sand and clear blue sea framed by coconut palms. This is a favorite beach for families with little kids, as the water here is calm and shallow. Look across the ocean from Rendezvous Bay, and you'll see the island of Saint Martin .
Take a boat out to Prickly Pear Island, pictured here, and spend a day diving or snorkeling in the clear water and reefs surrounding it. The island is not inhabited, so you'll have to visit on a day trip, which usually includes lunch and time to chill on the sand here as well. Trips to Prickly Pear depart from the Sandy Ground pier.
Picture-perfect Maundays Bay is a small, crescent-shaped, white-sand-meets-turquoise-water stretch of shoreline. There are just two hotels near this beach, the luxe Belmond Cap Juluca on the beach itself and the equally swanky, but smaller, Villas at Sheriva , which is just a short golf cart ride away from the sand.
Still undeveloped, Cove Bay Beach has just one restaurant, Smokey's, which cooks up delicious gourmet fare. The beach is on Anguilla's west end and is gorgeous for sunset walks. It also has good snorkeling and swimming, and you may even have this beautiful spot all to yourself.
Anguillian families have been fishing Island Harbour, on the island's east side, for generations now. And this charming fishing village is a great place to get a feel for local life. There are a few local restaurants with tasty food to try out, and you can also just pass an afternoon sitting around watching the day languidly slide by.
Off the coast of Anguilla, Sandy Island is a great place to spend the day just chilling on a white-sand beach; swimming in the calm blue sea; and maybe grabbing lunch at the island's only establishment, a restaurant. You can't spend the night here, but you can hop over for the day on a ferry boat from Sandy Ground.
On Anguilla's east side, Savannah Bay is a beautiful place to escape. Anguilla's least commercial stretch of sand, it is perfect for a chill day of walking on the beach; swimming; and grabbing lunch at the only restaurant here, Nat's.
Some of Anguilla's best places to photograph are found under the sea. Many a ship has wrecked off Anguilla's coast over the centuries, and the MV Commerce , pictured above, is one. You can explore and photograph the rusted skeleton and its fishy residents - like these snappers hiding out in the wheel house of the ship - on a scuba diving excursion.
On the far western coast of Anguilla is a pretty limestone arch carved from cliffs by the sea over thousands of years. Pay it a visit at sunset, when this image was snapped, for a gorgeous juxtaposition of colors against the pounding waves.
If you can visit when there are some clouds in the sky, you'll get an even more photogenic shot, especially if you snap from underneath the arch looking out at the ocean.
Anguilla has some excellent dive and snorkeling spots including Shoal Bay Reef, pictured here, where you can snap beautiful underwater images. The diving along this reef is at depths of 30 feet on the eastern end to as deep as 85 feet at the western end.
The reef has a sandy bottom floor, where you'll have a chance to see Southern stingrays, lobsters, and eels.
You'll find conch shells scattered all over the beaches in Anguilla, and they make fantastic photographs. Try positioning your camera close to the shell and placing the shell just at the water's edge, so the background blurs slightly.
When photographing objects, like conchs, it is always best to try to put two or three shells into your shot. This will draw more attention to your image. This image was snapped on the beach at Cap Juluca .

The key lies in using MyUS , a package forwarder that will accept your Shein store orders and forward them to your doorstep in Anguilla.
Shein Delivery to Anguilla: What You Need to Know
If you’re an avid online shopper residing in Anguilla, you may have come across the popular fashion retailer Shein. With its trendy clothing and affordable prices, it’s no wonder why many people are drawn to this retailer. However, if you’re wondering whether Shein delivers to Anguilla, it’s essential to have a clear understanding of their shipping policies and options.
Shipping to Anguilla
Unfortunately, as of now, Shein does not offer direct shipping to Anguilla. This means that if you’re looking to purchase items from Shein, you may encounter some difficulties when it comes to having your order delivered to Anguilla. While this may be disappointing for some, it’s essential to explore other options that may be available to you.
Alternative Shipping Options
Despite Shein not offering direct shipping to Anguilla, there are still alternative methods you can explore to have your items delivered to you. One option is to use a package forwarding service. Package forwarding services provide you with a physical address in a country where Shein does deliver, such as the United States, and then forward your package to your address in Anguilla. While this may incur additional costs, it’s a viable solution for those who are set on shopping from Shein.
Another option to consider is reaching out to third-party shipping companies that specialize in shipping to Anguilla. These companies may be able to assist you in receiving items from retailers like Shein and having them delivered to your address in Anguilla. It’s important to do thorough research and compare the options available to determine which one is the most cost-effective and reliable for your needs.
Factors to Consider
When exploring alternative shipping options, it’s crucial to consider various factors to ensure a smooth and secure delivery process. Firstly, take into account the shipping fees and any additional charges that may apply when using a package forwarding or third-party shipping service. Make sure to compare these costs with the overall value of your order to determine if it’s a feasible option for you.
Additionally, consider the shipping times and the reliability of the service in delivering your items to Anguilla. Research and read reviews on the different shipping options available to gauge their reputation and track record in handling international deliveries. It’s important to prioritize your peace of mind and ensure that your items are delivered safely and in a timely manner.
In conclusion, while Shein does not offer direct shipping to Anguilla, there are alternative methods you can explore to have your orders delivered to you. Whether it’s utilizing package forwarding services or reaching out to third-party shipping companies, it’s possible to shop from Shein even if you’re located in Anguilla. Make sure to weigh the costs, shipping times, and reliability of the services to determine the best option for your needs. With careful consideration and thorough research, you can still enjoy the fashion offerings from Shein, regardless of your location.
