This was a waste of time. It was like going for a bus ride around the area. The problem was that there is nothing else to see outside of the main streets and waterfront of Sorrento.

A good way to find you way around Sorrento

Really loved this tour, probably the best hop on/off tour we've done. I'm sure it helped that the weather was perfect. We just did the full loop without getting off, as did most other people. The scenery is just spectacular pretty much the whole way around and the bus stops for 10 minutes about half way at one of the villages up high with great views so you can get off take pictures, stretch your legs etc. Only downside is the long interval between buses so if you did want to get off it would be a couple of hours until the next bus. This didn't bother us though.

Everything in the description of the tour was delivered. The bus had headphone jacks and we were able to use our own, instead of the ones that were provided.

Trip is very nice and Jessica our guide was wonderful. Make sure you pay the extra E15 euro as you have a buss to the top and a guide. The food was good at lunch and averaged 15 euro each. Capri is expensive and a bottle of water at the pear in Sorrento is one euro and we paid 5 euro in Capri. Very nics tour but don't shop their go to Amalfi or Sorrento. Don' forget to bring hone some Limencello for you friends.

Throughly enjoyed this trip. We went during April and enjoyed great views from the top of the bus. Very easy to redeem ticket and staff were nice and helpful.

Didn't take it - heavy rains then holiday celebrations shut them down

Sorrento sightseeing options

The main sightseeing destinations for those vacationing in Sorrento are the mega attractions of Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius and to a lesser extent Herculaneum, Naples and Amalfi/Positano.

You will find plenty of traditional tours offered to these places by your hotel or travel agents in Sorrento. You can also visit all these independently with ease using the Circumvesuviana train service or the local Sorrento public bus services .

Sightseeing tour bus and train options in Sorrento

In Sorrento itself there are several sightseeing options you will regularly see during your stay in the summer season covering Sorrento and the local peninsular.

• City Sightseeing Sorrento - a classic hop-on hop-off open top sightseeing bus (pictured). The service is pretty much the same principle as most tourist city operations, the operator here runs the ho-ho buses in Naples and Rome too. A single route covers the Sorrento town, including Sant'Agnello and the villages and countryside on the peninsular.
• Sorrento City Train - a novelty mini-train pictured below. From Piazza Tasso, from a tourist perspective the centre of town it does an orientation circuit around Sorrento and Sant'Agnello including the port.
• The Green Line Tram Tour - is similar to the Sorrento City Train in many aspects but the more robust vehicle extends the tour out into the countryside around Sorrento and the underlying emphasis is more towards a serious tour than just a fun novelty ride.

City sightseeing sorrento.

The bus is exactly the same as the open top sightseeing buses operating in nearly every major tourist city nowadays. Here in Sorrento the offering is slightly different. The same hop on and off principle applies, you can board and get off as many times as you like at any of the six stops around the Sorrento peninsular for 24 hours of sightseeing.

Three of the six stops are in Sorrento and Sant'Agnello, the other stops in the peninsular villages of Massa Lubrense, Termini and Sant'Agata.

The alternative to the hop on bus is just to use the  SITA local buses  that cover the same villages from Sorrento.

City Sightseeing coast to coast service Sorrento to Amalfi via Positano

From April to October there is an alternative to the crowded public SITA buses that ply the most bus route from Sorrento along the dramatic south coast to Amalfi.

City Sightseeing who operate the open top sightseeing buses in Sorrento also operate a scheduled service between Sorrento and Amalfi stopping at Positano in direct competition with the SITA bus.

The service broadly runs at an hourly frequency and is scheduled to take around 90 minutes to do the whole trip.

You pay a premium over the public bus service. This is not a hop-on hop-off service but has a commentary.

Sorrento City Train

This a straight forward novelty orientation tour of Sorrento covering most of Sorrento and Sant'Agnello in a short 30/35 minute tour from Piazza Tasso.

You do get a commentary available in 7 languages via headphones. You'll cover most of the town including down to the port and it's a good introduction in a short time to Sorrento.

Sorrento Fun Tram

The Sorrento Tram is a longer version of the Sorrento city train. The more robust vehicle, really a normal vehicle with a body made to look like a tram allows the tour to go at a higher speed and extends the tour along the coast road out to Massa Lubrense.

It is also guided so will give you a bit of the local history of the area along the way.

The blue SITA bus local services links Sorrento with outlying villages on the peninsular. Timetables require study and can be erratic but are well worth the effort to get out and about and visit the villages and experience the network of walks between villages through the lemon groves that are delightful.

what it means "the red hop on bus company"?

A lot of moscow tourist companies organise an excursion tours to Golden Cities of Russia.

I intend to share my pictures of Vladimir and Suzdal in my blog on the http://www.lifetrip.ru and tell about my trip there.

I've never seen such buses in the center, which means that it is better not to relay on thier existence.

It is more intersiting to explore city by tube, as it is an exurcion by itself.

Probably it is true.. but i have not seen any ads etc. about it..

But currently there are no such tours in Moscow. THere are bus tours, but they are regular "closed busses"

They offer 1/2 day tours for US$30 and they cover all important places. English speaking guide.

i did check up the net and Apparently there is a red hop-on-hop off bus runnign around the centre..Operated by the City Sightseeing group.

But the circuit seems to be small....but still quite good for Rbl 750/-. But would still suggest the Capital tours option though..

If you are coming in summer, the River Cruise is also a very good option.. they also offer a hop-on hop-off full day ticket

It was great to be able to be there by ourselves and the monk that showed us around and Anton both were obviously very passionate about the monastery so you were able to understand much better what the various churches and icons meant to them The view from the bell tower was awesome even if the climb up took some faith! We organized that tour from Australia well ahead of time, planning to visit Zvenigorod with big group of extended family and friends with teens as part of our New Year trip to Moscow. The communication with Anton, our guide, was excellent during the time since booking till the excursion day. The actual day was organized very good, taken into account mixed group of adults, born in USSR and kids, born in Australia. Anton organized our activities to be suitable for all of us. As adults, we were enjoyed country side during winter and Monastery's quietness and ability to jump to the cold "holy" water at one of the oldest Monasteries of Russia - Savva Storoghevskiy Man Monastery. That was the most amazing and nearly magical experience! Kids were enjoyed of snow and treats Anton provide for us, including buisquits and Sbiten'. We also visited very interesting Museum of Russian desserts and learn a lot about ancient russian sweets; have a look on our past in the Museum of USSR and bought some yammie things to enjoy later. In general we all agree that our tour to Zvenigorod with Anton was enjoyable and educational; well organized and unforgettable. We wish we would have more time there! I went with the family, my husband and two daughters and they enjoyed every minute. Anton was very attentive to our needs and have good connections with the local communities. We tasted delicious Russian lunch on this tour. We had a fun time painting our Russian dolls (matryoshka) and finished the trip with a great feeling of connection to Russian culture, tasty food, fantastic people and magnificent architecture.   Do not hesitate to book this tour. He took us down the bunker 43 meter down the surface, explained about the heavy doors and let us open them, kept us informed about its functions and introduced us whatever exhibits were left there. There is an interesting balance of history, access you would not expect around a monastery, the visuals of the architecture and decoration, unique chance to observe the inner workings of the monastery, views from vantage points and the towers. The metro is so interesting and important for local citizens, Red Square is amazing, St. Basil cathedral was iconic both outside and even more interesting inside. It was both interesting and educational seeing central Moscow streets. Anton managed to book us a table for lunch with delicious local food and he helped us with recommendations for dinner (booked is a table as well). Brilliant job, Moscow with locals!
