Tom Cruise turns 61 on Monday, marking more than four decades since he broke on to the Hollywood scene and started his ascension to the mega-famous movie star we know today.

Born on July 3, 1962, in Syracuse, New York, Cruise got his start in bit movie parts before a breakout year in 1983, in which he starred in All the Right Moves, The Outsiders, and his breakthrough hit, Risky Business.

But it was in the 1990s when Cruise began to hit his stride as box office magic. From 1992-96, he made history when he starred in five consecutive movies that grossed $100 million or more in the United States: A Few Good Men, The Firm, Interview With the Vampire, Mission: Impossible and Jerry Maguire .

His starring role as Ethan Hunt in Mission: Impossible has also been a blockbuster boon. So far, the franchise's six films have grossed over $3 billion worldwide, with the seventh --  Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One -- coming to theaters July 12.

"It's unbelievable," Cruise told ET while premiering Dead Reckoning in Rome last month. "I do pinch myself every day.... It's something that I've never taken for granted ... I just feel very privileged."

And then, of course, there's Top Gun. The   iconic original flyboy flick was the highest-grossing domestic film in 1986, and when Cruise returned to the role of Capt. Pete "Maverick" Mitchell last year for Top Gun: Maverick, it was a triumph in more ways than one. The film became Cruise's first to earn over a billion dollars worldwide and was a major success for movie theaters just starting to dig their way out of COVID shutdown difficulties.

"I make movies for audiences," the actor told ET. "I work so hard and I think about them the whole time and when you see how excited they are and how much they appreciate it - it's just beautiful."

In total, the man often referred to as "the last true movie star" has made himself a $10 billion career so far -- and he doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

However, despite the money, and despite the moniker, for Cruise it's all about the craft.

"It's not about being a movie star," he insisted. "It's about being an actor and concentrating on that and finding roles that are going to be a challenge for me... Movie stardom can come and go, but your craft within, you can work forever if you keep working hard at that."

Tom cruise wasn't quite born on the fourth of july, but he is celebrating his birthday the only way he knows how—by releasing another action epic that he risked life and limb to make..

So, Tom Cruise  is 61 now—and he continues to be doing something right.

The reassuringly youthful actor is, once again, celebrating his birthday while on a press tour for a long-awaited action epic  that entailed performing his own death-defying stunts and leaving his co-stars marveling over his work ethic, graciousness and charm, his set-commanding skills still second to none.

"There is no one else like him,"  Simon Pegg told E! News while talking up their latest outing, Mission: Impossible—Dead Reckoning Part One , in theaters July 12. "He is the last movie star—of the old kind, you know."

No offense to the Chalamets of the world, but...we know.

Making it no secret that he does it all for you— for  us , the audience!—Cruise approached the release of Top Gun: Maverick last year as if the fate of movies themselves was hanging in the balance . Which, coming out of the pandemic, it kinda was.

And right on schedule (minus the years lost to COVID-related delays) Cruise is back at it with the first half of Dead Reckoning , the seventh of what will be at least eight movies  in the  Mission: Impossible  franchise, which kicked off in 1996  back when the star being lowered into a room on a wire was considered a mind-blowing action sequence.

Now, he calls riding a motorcycle off a cliff (at the beginning of the shoot, just in case , um... the end result necessitated a rewrite) his "happy place."

"It's full-on," he told E! News' Keltie Knight at the Rome premiere of  Dead Reckoning Part One . "My life's an adventure, I've always wanted that since I was a little kid." And, though he looks extremely-rested, he quipped that he tries not to sleep.

Because that would be a break in the action, now wouldn't it? 

Read on for more tirelessly fascinating facts about birthday boy Tom Cruise:

1. Thomas Cruise Mapother IV  was born on July 3, 1962, in Syracuse, N.Y., to  Thomas Cruise Mapother III , an electrical engineer, and Mary Lee Pfeiffer , both of Louisville, Ky. (His grandfather and great-grandfather were both Thomas Cruise Mapother, as well.)

2. He has two older sisters, Lee Anne and Marian , and one younger sister, Catherine , nicknamed Cass. 

3. Cruise wanted to act from around the time he was 4 and started doing impressions of everyone from Donald Duck to Humphrey Bogart and Elvis Presley .

4. In 1974, when the family was living in Ottawa, Mary Lee packed up and took the kids back to Louisville. She officially divorced Tom III in August 1975 and, six weeks later, he remarried, briefly. Joan Lebendiger , recently widowed, had four kids, one of whom later told biographer Andrew Morton that they never saw their stepbrother Tom again after the wedding.

"As a kid, I had a lot of hidden anger about that. I'd get hit, and I didn't understand it," Cruise  recalled to  Vanity Fair  in 1994.

"He was the kind of guy who really got picked on a lot at school himself when he was growing up," he said of his father. "He had also been small, though he ended up being six foot two. People had been quite brutal to him. Inside, I believe he was a really sensitive individual." Tom III could also "actually be quite loving." 

But in 2006 he told Parade  that his dad was "a bully and a coward—the person where, if something goes wrong, they kick you. It was a great lesson in my life, how he'd lull you in, make you feel safe and then, bang!"

Cruise visited his father in the hospital before he died of cancer in 1984 and Tom III said he'd get better and they would "'talk about the whole thing,'" the actor told  VF , but that never came to pass.

5. Tom was very close to his mother, whom he described to James Lipton on Inside the Actors Studio   as "a very warm, charismatic woman, very kind, very generous." She worked four jobs at any given time to take care of them, and Tom had a paper route to pitch in. "Every night I'd come home, bathe my feet and sit in the family room, and Tom would massage my feet for a half-hour," Mary Lee recalled to Rolling Stone . (She died at 80 in 2017.)

6. He was also protective of his sisters and, as the man of the house, took on the role of scrutinizing their boyfriends when they'd come by to meet the family.

7. Cruise was raised Catholic and he spent his freshman year of high school at St. Francis Seminary in Cincinnati, after a priest named Father Ric Schneider gave a talk at his (also Catholic) school in Louisville. "He was a typical teenager, trying to find his way in life," Schneider told the New York Daily News in 2013. "We would give them an IQ test, and he just about made the cut. The cutoff is 110, and he scored exactly 110."

It's been rumored that Cruise considered entering the priesthood, but he doesn't it remember it that way. "We didn't have the money back then, and I went for the education for a year, and it was free," Cruise has explained.

8. Mary Lee got remarried to Jack South in 1978 and the whole family moved to New Jersey when Tom was 16.

"In the beginning, I felt threatened by my stepfather," Cruise told Rolling Stone . "There's a part of you that's in love with your mother. But he is such a wise, smart man. He loved my mother so much that he took us all in, four young people. We'd bet on football games, and he was a terrible bettor, so I'd make lots of money."

As for his dad, Tom III, who had recently passed away, "I think that he felt remorse for a lot that had happened. He was a person who did not have a huge influence on me in my teens; the values and motivation really came from my stepfather. But he was important. Really important. It's all sort of complex. There wasn't one thing I felt."

9. He was always a daredevil, jumping off things, riding his bike too fast, sometimes into walls and, here and there, breaking bones. In high school he joined the glee club and did plays. He was also an athlete, over the years dabbling in soccer, baseball, basketball, football and ice hockey, and he wrestled. Sports and acting were where he really stood out and, shocker, the ladies have loved him since grammar school.

"I was a wild kid," Cruise admitted. "I'd cut school. Everything had to do with my wanting always to push the envelope to see: where do I stand with myself? How far can I go?"

10. Cruise has been open about his battle with dyslexia, calling himself "a functional illiterate" in school, though he "loved learning. I wanted to learn, but I knew I had failed in the system."

"My energy was always all over the place. Reading was not at the top of my list, because it took me so long," he told Cameron Crowe for Interview in 1986. "When I wrote a paper, my mother would help me with it. I would take a test and get very nervous. I would skip questions and skip lines. I've gotten better. I've learned to control my eyes. I used to have to use my finger all the time. I just wasn't relaxed about it."

11. Senior year of high school he got kicked off the football team after he was caught drinking, according to Morton, but that left him time to audition for the school musical, Guys and Dolls . He played Nathan Detroit, and a commercial director who happened to catch a performance told him he should pursue acting professionally. So, he started going to New York on weekends to audition for musicals—and he missed his graduation ceremony while performing in an amateur production of Godspell .

12. Cruise made his movie debut in the 1981 drama Taps , in a role that was bigger than the one he was originally cast in "because you could see right away that he had a giant talent," former Paramount head Sherry Lansing said in Stephen Galloway 's 2017 biography Leading Lady . "He was always extremely focused and exceptionally polite."

13. On the set of Francis Ford Coppola 's The Outsiders , featuring a veritable who's-who of '80s-era heartthrobs , prankster Cruise scrawled "Helter Skelter" on co-star Diane Lane 's mirror and put honey on her toilet seat.

14. The only direction Cruise received for his iconic Risky Business dance to "Old Time Rock and Roll" was one line in the script: "Joel dances in underwear through the house." He ad-libbed the rest, grabbing the candlestick, "using it as a guitar, jumping on the table. I waxed half the floor and kept the other half dirty, so I could slide in on my socks. As we went along, I threw more stuff in," he shared with Crowe in 1986.

15. Cruise dated his Risky Business co-star Rebecca De Mornay , who called him a "pure person." She told Rolling Stone in 1986, "There's something earnest and virtuous about him that's quite rare." According to Taps co-star Sean Penn , they were out at a club in New York one night and after realizing that a girl he was talking to was trying to pick him up, Cruise "screamed at her, 'I have a girlfriend I'm in love with!'" (Perhaps at the time readers thought Penn might be exaggerating.) He and De Mornay started dating in the summer of 1983 and maintained a long-distance relationship while he shot Ridley Scott 's Legend in London, but broke up when he returned to the U.S. to start making Top Gun .

16. Top Gun producers Jerry Bruckheimer and Don Simpson envisioned no one other than Cruise playing Maverick after they saw a magazine story about the elite flying school at San Diego's Miramar Naval Air Station and went down to see the hot shots in person. "From the first time we went down to Miramar—even before the script was written—we said, 'These guys are Tom Cruises,'" Bruckheimer told Rolling Stone .

17. Although Cruise also told Rolling Stone in 1986 that he wasn't sure he would be able to get married in his "present state of mind," he tied the knot with  Mimi Rogers on May 9, 1987, two years after meeting her at a dinner party. Emilio Estevez  was Cruise's best man.

18. Paul Newman , his co-star in 1987's The Color of Money , turned him on to race car driving and Cruise has been feeling the need for speed on land and in the air (and sometimes on the water) ever since. Years later the student became the teacher when, in 2010, Cruise taught Zac Efron  about motorcycles. "I don't know," Efron told Details when asked why Cruise offered to do that. "I don't even want to know. It's just so cool that he gave a s--t, the fact that he cared at all."

19. Mimi and her first husband, Jim Rogers , were both members of the Church of Scientology (Jim was a high-level auditor) and she's said to have introduced Cruise to the organization, giving him L. Ron Hubbard 's Dianetics and other literature. His immersion in Scientology coincided with the release of Top Gun and the actor becoming one of the biggest stars in the world, and to this day Cruise remains the most famous member of the church.

20. Despite being critically panned, 1988's Cocktail , starring Cruise as a playboy bartender, gave Disney its biggest opening weekend ever at the time: $11.8 million.

21. According to Morton's 2008 biography  Tom Cruise , director Oliver Stone wanted Tom to be injected with a chemical that would have rendered him temporarily paralyzed so he could better identify with the role of real-life Vietnam War veteran and activist Ron Kovic in 1989's  Born on the Fourth of July . The insurance company understandably shut that idea down. The film still won two Oscars, best editing and best director for Stone, so it worked out.

22. People named Cruise its "Sexiest Man Alive" in 1990. Soon after, he and Rogers divorced. When Vanity Fair  asked about his first marriage in 1994, Cruise replied tersely , "It was a long time ago. I really don't think about it."

23. Cruise met Nicole Kidman  during casting for the racing drama Days of Thunder and they tied the knot on Dec. 24, 1990. They adopted two children, Isabella and Connor , and starred in two more movies together, Far and Away and Eyes Wide Shut .

After Isabella arrived, Cruise told Vanity Fair in 1994 , "We talked about children from time to time, but there was always the work. But then we went, When is it ever going to be the right time? That's how the conversation started. You're lying in bed at night and you're trying to sleep, so you roll over and you go, What would happen if we had this in our life?

"One of the things that Nic and I talk about is that now suddenly we're a family. We're at that point where we're trying to define where we are. Can we still party? Are we really boring? Oh, my God . . . we're old!"

24. Disney had Cruise in mind when they created the look of the title character in 1992's Aladdin . "There's a confidence with all of his attitudes and his poses," lead animator Glen Keane said in a DVD extras feature.

25. An old tabloid go-to back in the 1980s and '90s was to claim that this or that star was gay, and Cruise was aware that the rumor was out there.

"First of all, I don't think it's an indictment," Cruise told Vanity Fair in 1994. "But I hadn't heard those rumors till about three months ago myself… I don't know why they say it. I've heard everything from I've cheated on my wife to my wife was there on the set of  The Firm  because she was pissed off about my love scene on the beach. It's not true, but people are going to say what they want to say."

26. Cruise wanted Brian De Palma to direct Mission: Impossible , which would mark his debut as a producer with his agent turned partner Paula Wagner , even though De Palma was in movie jail following several flops. Cruise even deferred his $20 million salary (not including his back-end deal) so they could raise the movie's budget. Mission accomplished: M:I made almost $500 million worldwide and spawned a franchise . De Palma, however, didn't attend the film's premiere in May 1996, reportedly because he and Cruise didn't always see eye to eye during production.

27. Shooting M:I , Cruise insisted they use a fan big enough to create the 120 mile-per-hour wind he'd be facing if he was really clinging to a bullet train while a helicopter exploded behind him. A crew member told Galloway, "He said, 'I want the wind blowing in my face and I want my jaws to be blowing.' That's Tom. He's a guy's guy."

28. The intense Eyes Wide Shut shoot was scheduled to last four months but ended up keeping Tom and Nicole in London for 18 months. Also during their time in England, as fate would have it, they attended Princess Diana 's funeral in September 1997, as did with Tom Hanks  and Steven Spielberg , who were in town making Saving Private Ryan .

29. "All I can say is that I hope we are together when we are 80," Nicole Kidman told  Talk  in 2000. "I can't say we will be, but I will be so devastated if we are not." Alas, they announced their separation on Feb. 5, 2001. "She knows why, and I know why," Cruise cryptically told Vanity Fair later that year. "She's the mother of my children, and I wish her well. And I think that you just move on. And I don't say that lightly. I don't say that with anything."

30. Penélope Cruz  successfully sued an Australian tabloid in June 2003, winning damages and a retraction over a story claiming she and then-boyfriend Cruise had postponed their impending marriage because she had cheated on him. They broke up in January 2004 after more than two years of dating, a source telling People the relationship "just ran its course."

31. The Church of Scientology denied a 2012 Vanity Fair report that Homeland actress Nazanin Boniadi , then a church member, had basically been recruited to date Cruise for a few months, starting in October 2004 with a group outing that included renting the skating rink at Rockefeller Center and dinner at Nobu. "I'd rather not talk about that," Boniadi told the New York Post in 2013.

32. Cruise specifically held out for J.J. Abrams to direct Mission: Impossible III —Abrams' feature film debut—after watching some episodes of Alias . Paramount was freaking out, wanting M:I3 for a summer 2005 tentpole release, which wasn't going to happen if Cruise and Abrams—busy at the moment with a show called Lost —got their way, but it turned out Cruise had an ace up his sleeve. Spielberg was ready to roll with War of the Worlds in time to give Paramount the summer blockbuster it needed while they waited for Abrams to become available.

33. On May 23, 2005, a giddy Cruise raised his arms in victory, got down on one knee and did a couple of fist pumps, and then jumped up on Oprah Winfrey 's couch (also twice), fueled by love for his new girlfriend, Katie Holmes . "You're gone," the talk show host observed.

"I've got so much energy, I can't help it," Cruise said.

They were both laughing hysterically and the studio audience was cheering, but… maybe you had to be there?

Lest anyone forget, Holmes was at the taping and Winfrey led a chant for her to come out. "She's gonna run!" Cruise exclaimed. "She is freaking out ." Then he took off for backstage to go get her, the camera trailing him, and once they had emerged Cruise enveloped the Dawson's Creek star in a hug.

That moment unwittingly set the tone for Cruise and Holmes' entire relationship, romantic to many but to everyone… just a lot .

34. A month later, Cruise accused Matt Lauer  of being "glib" when the Today host questioned his take on mental health care—specifically, his dismissal of psychiatry and his criticism of Brooke Shields ' "irresponsible" use of medication to treat postpartum depression.

35. Cruise and Holmes' daughter, Suri Cruise , was born on April 18, 2006.

36. Mission: Impossible III came out on May 5, 2006, and did… fine. It was (and remains) the lowest-grossing installment of the franchise, making $134 million domestically, but more memorably it marked the moment where folks started wondering if Cruise had lost his movie-star mojo, if his unadulterated zeal had turned off audiences for good. Not making it better: Paramount severed its 14-year relationship with Cruise's production company that August, and then-Viacom Chairman Sumner Redstone actually told the Wall Street Journal , "We don't think that someone who effectuates creative suicide and costs the company revenue should be on the lot. His recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount."

37. Suri was introduced to the world on the September 2006 cover of Vanity Fair , zipped up in her father's leather jacket akin to how Paul McCartney   snuggled daughter Mary on the cover of his 1970 solo album McCartney . The first glimpse at the cover was a huge get for Katie Couric 's first night as lead anchor of the CBS Evening News .

38. Cruise and Holmes' wedding at the 15th-century Castello Orsini-Odescalchi in Rome on Nov. 18, 2016, reportedly cost upward of $3 million . Guest Giorgio Armani designed the bride's ceremony and reception dresses and attendees included Will Smith  and Jada Pinkett Smith , John Travolta  and Kelly Preston , David  and Victoria Beckham , Jim Carrey  and Jenny McCarthy , Leah Remini  and Angelo Pagan , and Jennifer Lopez  and Marc Anthony . Andrea Bocelli performed.

39. Church of Scientology leader David Miscavige was Cruise's best man. According to Remini, who left the church in 2013, a traditional Scientology wedding ceremony includes the vow "to never close their eyes in sleep on a disagreement or an upset."

40. Shields and husband Chris Henchy were also in attendance, Cruise having apologized for publicly disparaging his Endless Love co-star's use of medication to treat postpartum depression. "If you get invited to that wedding, you go," Shields recalled on The Jenny McCarthy Show in 2016. The actress even provided the bride's "something old": an antique enamel compact.

41. 2010's Knight and Day with Cameron Diaz  was widely treated as some sort of "comeback" movie for Cruise, a test to see if he could still have a monster action movie hit after Mission: Impossible III underwhelmed.

"I don't understand why people think that," he marveled to the U.K.'s Telegraph . "I've been working the whole time."

42. His roles in the interim had included his unrecognizable—and hilarious—surprise turn as crass, bullying, bald and fat studio exec Les Grossman in Ben Stiller 's Tropic Thunder , for which he earned a Golden Globe nomination.

"I had about a dozen people making the silicone prosthetics for his head, neck, chest, and hands," makeup designer Barney Burman recalled to Grantland . "We made him special gloves. I did the sculpting, someone else did the molds, someone else was casting them. I had six different people punching hairs into the scalp piece, so his entire head was one-at-a-time, hand-punched hairs; his arms were hand-punched one at a time; his chest was hand-punched."

Added Aida Caefer , "I made the fat suits for Tom Cruise. He was all for  the more ridiculous, the better . The suit went from his neck all the way down to his ankles…The character moved around a lot and he was so soaked in sweat that we had rotating suits for him—one in the morning and one after lunch."

"Tom choreographed all his own moves," Stiller said. "I remember watching him do this stuff and thinking this is so frigging funny."

43. The rumor that Cruise turned down the role of Iron Man, which would have changed the whole vibe of the Marvel Universe, is not true, he says. "Not close," he told ComicBook.com in 2018 when asked if he was really almost Tony Stark. "Not close, and I love Robert Downey Jr. I can't imagine anyone else in that role, and I think it's perfect for him."

44. For 2011's Mission: Impossible—Ghost Protocol , Cruise hung off the edge of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai—the world's tallest building—without a double (though with the appropriate wires). And while he'd been doing as much of his own physical laboring as possible for decades, this reinvigorated Cruise's reputation as the guy who does all the death-defying stunts the insurance companies will allow. The film's $695 million worldwide box office also signaled that Cruise's reputation had preceded him—in a good way.

45. Holmes filed for divorce in June 2012. Her father, attorney Martin Holmes , had helped draft their prenuptial agreement and all was remarkably settled within weeks. And neither of them have ever talked about what happened . They've acknowledged that they were once married to each other, but why it ended has remained anyone's guess. And, oh, how the people have guessed.

46. Eyebrows were raised when the 5-foot-7 Cruise was tapped to play 6-foot-5 vigilante Jack Reacher from Lee Childs ' best-selling novel series.

"Size in my books is a metaphor for an unstoppable force," Childs explained. "Cruise portrays that in his own way."

47. Not as initially OK with the creative license was Interview With the Vampire   author Ann Rice , who according to Vanity Fair was livid in the early '90s when Cruise was cast to play Lestat, having written the character with Rutger Hauer in mind.

"It always helps if one is controversial in casting a movie," director Neil Jordan said. "I just thought that if Tom was willing to go the distance this character demands—and he was—then we could end up with something quite extraordinary, and we did."

48. Mission: Impossible—Rogue Nation was legendary before it hit theaters in 2015 for Cruise's viral airplane stunt, in which he hung onto the door of an Airbus A400M as it took off. For real. He also did his own motorcycle chase and learned how to hold his breath for six and a half minutes for the underwater document swap.

49. He was back on the bike for Mission: Impossible—Fallout and "when the [safety] rigs didn't work, we just went for it," director Christopher McQuarrie told the New York Times . "Everything that you're seeing Tom doing, he's doing free riding on cold cobblestones. Sometimes there was rain; sometimes there was morning dew. There was always a danger of skidding and wiping out."

Cruise also did his own skydiving along with Henry Cavill 's stunt double, dangled from a rope attached to a flying helicopter, and piloted a helicopter for a mid-air chase scene, getting his certification in six weeks. It normally takes three months, McQuarrie said, but Cruise trained for 16 hours a day to cut the time in half.

"Tom was having the time of his life," the director said.

50. Cruise has social media accounts but they are strictly for un-risky business, and he prefers to not know everything that's happening online. "Sometimes I have to for work, but I keep it very limited," he told E! News in 2016. "I don't spend time doing that kind of stuff."

51. Cruise isn't one to let himself go in between physically taxing roles. "Sea-kayaking, caving, fencing, treadmill, weights, rock-climbing, hiking… I jog… I do so many different activities," he has said.

In fact, he refers to his personal workout space—a version of which he takes with him everywhere—as the "Pain Cave."

"Only the motivated can enter," he explained to the AP at the 2017 premiere of The Mummy . "All you got to do is just be motivated. Anyone can come in, we have the crew come in, and we just make it available to everyone."

As co-star Jake Johnson   revealed: "You start every morning with the daily challenge. So before work starts, you're in there. His hair and makeup team is in there, his crew is in there, so there's about 15, 20 people every day doing their squats and jumping jacks. And then I kinda got into it with him…I wanted to be in a Tom Cruise movie and do it the Tom Cruise way."

That includes, alas, avoiding sugar.

"I love sugar," Cruise assured James Corden  on The Late Late Show in 2018, "but I can't eat it because when I'm training, I'm doing all these movies—so I send it to everyone." And then, "I wait for the calls. Like, 'tell me about it.'"

Don't tell anyone, but Cruise is human: Aside from what he did to himself running around in childhood, he threw out his back making Legend ; developed an ulcer while shooting Eyes Wide Shut ; tore his labrum scaling a cliff at Dead Horse Point, Utah, for Mission: Impossible 2 ; and broke an ankle on Mission: Impossible—Fallout .

"It was the easy one where I'm running and I jump from one building to the next," Cruise later described the fateful stunt on  The Tonight Show .

53. But this guy commits . In addition to doing three months of helicopter pilot training in six weeks and learning how to hold his breath like he's David Blaine , he played pool for 12 hours a day to play Fast Eddie Felson's protegee in The Color of Money. He lost 18 pounds and read classic books out loud to work on his diction to play centuries-old Lestat in Interview With the Vampire. He learned German to better embody a World War II-era officer in Valkyrie . He actually spent a year and a half learning how to fly a helicopter for  Mission: Impossible—Fallout  (before his whirlwind certification).

54. "I haven't seen him in awhile, but he has sent me a birthday gift every year since I was 11 years old," Dakota Fanning  said on Watch What Happens Live in 2016 about her dad in 2005's War of the Worlds . "Beautiful gifts, it's really kind. I always think, 'Oh, when I'm 18, he'll probably stop. Oh, 21, he'll stop. But every year."

What does Team Cruise pick out? "It's usually shoes," the actress, then 22, shared.

55. In 1986, he told Cameron Crowe , "Let's face it, I'm not saving lives here. I feel fortunate, but this is just one aspect of my life. I love my work, but my family is very important to me, too. You pick up the paper and see that there are many things happening outside my little world."

Since then, the real-life heroics include, all within a few years in the '90s: He lifted two boys over a barricade to prevent them being crushed at the Mission: Impossible premiere in London; he sent his own yacht's skiff to rescue a family whose sailboat was on fire in the Mediterranean in 1996; he rushed to the aid of a woman who had been mugged in London; and he paid the $7,000 emergency room bill for an uninsured cashier who was injured in a hit and run—an accident Cruise witnessed.

"It's just an impulse," Cruise told People in 2000 about his spate of good deeds. "I was never a Boy Scout, so maybe I'm making up for it now."

Or, as he said in the video of an interview for his church that went viral in 2008, "You can't drive past an accident, because as a Scientologist you are the only one who can help"

56. Though he's the most famous face of Scientology, Cruise is incredibly protective of his beliefs and doesn't say too much about it publicly. But in October 2016, he told ITV at the London premiere of Jack Reacher: Never Go Back , "It's something that has helped me incredibly in my life. I've been a Scientologist for over 30 years. It's something that is, you know...without it, I wouldn't be where I am. So, it's a beautiful religion. I'm incredibly proud."

As he recalled to  Empire , he told the studio before they got started, "'You don't know how hard this movie's going to be. No-one's ever done this before.'" But he was firm about not wanting to do any "CGI stuff."

And in the end, Cruise said, "There's never been an aerial sequence shot this way. I don't know if there ever will be again, to be honest."

The Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning star belies his 61 years with a dedicated nutrition and training plan

Tom Cruise has been climbing skyscrapers, halo jumping from planes and leaping from motorbikes for more than three decades now, but seven Mission: Impossible s (soon to be eight), two Top Gun s and a War of the Worlds later, and he's still going strong. At this point, it's fair to say he's the action heroes' action hero, but how exactly has he done it so well for so long?

Could it be the prodigious work ethic? A training regimen with no let up or is it his carefully-managed diet? Well, chances are, it’s all of the above and so much more.

There is no one thing that keeps Cruise in action hero shape or maintains his position as, arguably, the last great Hollywood star. There are multiple secrets behind his youthfulness. And now they’re yours too, should you choose to accept them.

Interpersonal Skills

‘Regularly switching up cardio and strength work with something like fencing or climbing – like Cruise – maintains flexibility and balance: the first two things that give your age away.’ Drop unusual practices into your workout, such as one-armed barbell presses – it’ll help unearth your physical weak spots. You can then work on them which will mean you maintain a more youthfully functioning body overall.

Tom Cruise's Style

Like his body, cruise maintains a youthful style without ever looking like he’s dressing too young. he still regularly appears in best-dressed lists..

His style choices identify Cruise as ‘well dressed’, rather than ‘short’, says Alan Au of Jimmy Au’s menswear of Beverly Hills, a known haunt of Cruise’s stylist. ‘The right fit conveys power and shows you've accepted who you are, physically. Cruise always wears a well tailored coat (lapels not too big or small) whether smart casual and his ‘relaxed’ is only just loose enough (too loose looks hand-me-down).’

Avoid boxy cuts and styles and bring attention up to the face and chest with a lighter top. Make sure only a quarter-inch of sleeve hem is showing from jackets. Cruise favours turtlenecks and Au agrees they work – ‘but avoid the chunkier styles. The three-quarter-necks are better. They are shorter and give the same effect – while still leaving you with a neck.’

The Mind-set

Write notes in a special document or folder on your computer, analysing everything in detail. ‘Physicalising the reasons snaps us out of negativity. Now consider three things you can do immediately with this situation,’ he says. Set yourself a deadline of three months to action what you come up with. ‘Each little success along the way – a new responsibility at work; a date with somebody new – will reframe that initial ‘fail’ as a catalyst to self-development,’ adds Write.

The Tom Cruise Diet

Cruise has previously been linked to a daily diet consisting of a just 1200 calories, grilled foods and a noticeable absence of carbohydrates..

It doesn’t sound nearly enough fuel for the ultra-active short stack, but it’s probably his youth elixir. Carbs generate insulin – an ageing hormone, says nutritional scientist Dr Paul Clayton, author of Health Defence . ‘They become glucose molecules in the body, damaging muscle and skin tissues which causes ageing,’ he says. Clayton recommends fermentable carbs like legumes and pulses, which produce less insulin than digestible carbs like grains and spuds. If you must have your cake, eat it all in one meal only; a single insulin surge is less damaging than regular carb-snacking.

Chronic tissue inflammation also speeds up ageing. Avoid it by cooking at low temperatures (ie grilling), and increase anti-inflammatory nutrients like flavonoids (from onions, say, or citrus fruits), isoflavones (from soy) and 1316 beta-glucan (found in brewer’s yeast supplements). Cue that youthful Cruise appearance: you’ll have her – hell, everyone – at hello.

Tom Cruise Seen Sprinting Down Street in London as He Shoots Next Mission: Impossible Movie

The eighth 'Mission: Impossible' film, which does not yet have a title, is expected in theaters May 23, 2025

Tom Cruise is showing no signs of slowing down in the next Mission: Impossible movie.

On Sunday, Cruise, 61, was seen sprinting down a street in London while filming a scene for the upcoming eighth film in his signature action franchise. The actor could be seen wearing a black suit with a white shirt opened at the top, with fake blood drenched over his chest while filming the sequence.

Cruise most recently appeared as his Mission: Impossible character Ethan Hunt in last year's Mission: Impossible—Dead Reckoning , which made $172 million at the  domestic box office . Dead Reckoning also earned the franchise its first-ever Academy Award nominations when it received nods for Best Visual Effects and Best Sound at the recent 96th Oscars ceremony.

A title for the upcoming eighth Mission: Impossible movie has not yet been announced. The next film was originally set for release on June 28, but production delays related to 2023's SAG-AFTRA strike forced the film to restart production in the fall and delay its release until May 23, 2025, as Deadline reported back in October.

Dead Reckoning left Cruise's character Ethan Hunt and series regulars Luther (Ving Rhames) and Benji (Simon Pegg) at odds with villain Gabriel (Esai Morales) and forging new alliances with characters like Grace (Hayley Atwell) over a battle for control over a sentient artificial intelligence.

The eighth Mission: Impossible film is just one movie among a number of projects Cruise has in development. In February, PEOPLE confirmed Cruise will star in the next movie from The Revenant filmmaker  Alejandro G. Iñárritu , while The Hollywood Reporter  reported in January that Paramount is developing Top Gun 3 as a sequel to Cruise's major 2022 success Top Gun: Maverick .

Cruise, known for his penchant for performing his own stunts, was recently seen climbing the iconic Hollywood Sign in Los Angeles' Hollywood Hills on March 16 accompanied by a film crew. A representative for Cruise did not respond to PEOPLE's request for comment Monday. While it's unclear what Cruise was filming on Saturday, the stunt did not appear related to the next Mission: Impossible film.

Mission: Impossible 8 is expected in theaters May 23, 2025.

• Cruise has proved himself to be quite the onscreen stunt buff, but he has also proven his mettle by saving five people in real life.
• He's also a doting father to his adopted children, although he reportedly doesn't have a great relationship with his biological daughter.

Tom Cruise, famous for a slew of high-paced action thrillers, including the "Mission Impossible" films, as well as the "Top Gun" films, turned 61 on July 3. Despite his advancing age, the actor still manages to do all his own stunts for the movies he stars in, astounding fans and co-workers alike with his prowess.

In response to a clip Cruise shared on his Instagram promoting his new film "Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One," many fans wished the actor a wonderful birthday. The post's comment section soon filled up with numerous posts wishing the iconic actor a wonderful day and admiring his talents as an actor.

Tom Cruise's Stunt Skills Came in Handy in Real Life

Over the years, Cruise has proven that his skills in doing stunts aren't just for show. On a few occasions, the actor has used his quick thinking and ability to work under high pressure to his advantage, saving more than a few lives that were in danger. The actor has apparently jumped in at the last second more than once.

This wasn't the only time Cruise managed to jump in and help a citizen in trouble.

The first time Cruise used his stunt skills for the greater good was in August 1996, when the actor was with his then-wife Nicole Kidman off the coast of the Italian resort island of Capri on a yacht. The couple had chartered the yacht Talitha G and were sailing through the Mediterranean with their two children and a few studio heads.

While they were enjoying the ocean breeze, another yacht nearby suddenly caught fire after an electrical short circuit wreaked havoc with the vessel's systems. Luckily, Cruise spotted the fire, and his training in keeping a relaxed demeanor under high stakes kicked in. He expertly piloted the Talitha G's skiff over to the burning ship, arriving in time to save the passengers.

On board were five passengers, all of whom were undoubtedly overjoyed to see Cruise sailing up to the sinking ship. Among the passengers were the paper tycoon Jacques Lejeune and his wife, Bernadette Lejeune. The two were floating on a rubber raft when Cruise stopped to pick them up. Luckily, the star got the whole thing on tape.

After all the passengers were safe on the skiff, Cruise piloted back to the Talitha G while the burning 63-foot yacht sank in the background – a scene right out of an action film. When news of the heroic incident broke, Cruise's publicist, Pat Kingsley, commented that the actor merely did what any other person with the skills and cool-headedness to traverse a disaster situation safely would have done.

This wasn't the only time Cruise managed to jump in and help a citizen in trouble. In March 1996, Cruise was once more on the scene when a speeding Acura Legend hit a then-23-year-old Heloisa Vinhas. While the offending driver sped away, leaving Vinhas in a terrible state, Cruise ran to another pedestrian, urging them to call an ambulance.

Despite his lack of a relationship with his youngest, Cruise has proven himself to be a loving father to his two other children, Isabella Jane Cruise and Connor Anthony Kidman Cruise.

Cruise's quick thinking got the ambulance on the scene in time to take Vinhas to the UCLA Medical Center, but the actor didn't stop there. He accompanied the injured Vinhas to the hospital, where she was treated for a broken leg and bruised ribs.

The treatment came out to $7,000, and although her injuries had been taken care of, Vinhas wasn't out of the woods yet. She had no medical insurance and, therefore, no way to pay her bill. But Cruise had been standing by the entire time, and when he heard she would have trouble paying, he paid for the whole bill.

Controversy over Cruise as a Parent

Although Cruise has proven himself ready to jump in at the drop of a hat, do what must be done, and help those in need, the actor hasn't gone without some controversy. The "Jack Reacher" star has been criticized for his parenting over the years, especially concerning his youngest daughter, Suri Cruise.

The actor welcomed his youngest with his third wife, actress Katie Holmes . The pair brought their only child into the world in 2006, shortly after they first got together. Although things seemed to start out happily, with the birth of their child and a grand wedding, Cruise and Holmes' marriage soon fell apart.

After their divorce, Holmes got full custody over their daughter, and in 2017, the actress said she was trying to give her daughter a normal childhood away from celebrity life. The real reason why Tom Cruise , 61, and socialite girlfriend Elsina Khayrova, 36, split has been revealed.

The Mission Impossible star and the Russian socialite went their separate ways recently. Insiders say that Tom 'cooled things down' as the pair were 'moving too fast.'

Top Gun star and the socialite are reportedly still in touch after the split, which seemingly came out of the blue.

"Tom felt things were moving too fast, especially in the media, " an insider said of the relationship, adding, "he wasn't there yet, so he's cooled things down, but they are still in touch," a source told Page Six :

The source added: "Tom wants to go slow with whoever he sees, as he feels he's been burned by several of exes." They added that Tom wanted to keep the romance more low-key and private.

It is believed things had been going well and Tom had met the millionaire divorcee's kids. Although the couple has parted ways, Tom is said to have 'left the door open' for them to reconcile.

Elsina and Tom were first spotted together in public in February. After the big relationship reveal, the two have broken things off. A source told The Sun US that the relationship simply "ran its course" and the two will remain friends as they both live in the same block in London.

The two were spotted on many dates around London earlier this month, implying that the relationship became serious. The Top Gun actor and his new girlfriend both stepped out in public and attended a gala dinner in support of London's Air Ambulance Charity. However, the pair arrived separately. They were also seen at the five-star Raffles Hotel.

The source said : "To end things on a bad note would have been awkward if they’d bumped into each other in the lift. There are no hard feelings between them and for Tom, their relationship simply ran its course."

The breakup comes after Tom met Elsina's son and daughter, as per Page Six . Her children came from her previous marriage to Dimitry Tsvetkov. Elsina and her ex-husband ended their marriage in 2021.

They were in dispute when it came to their home in Surrey, England, five apartments in London, two cars, jewerly and artwork by artwork by Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Marc Chagall. Tsvetkov told the Daily Mail that the divorce cost him £150 million ($188 million). He spent £10 million ($12 million) on clothes and £2 million ($2.5 million) on designer handbags throughout their 11-year marriage.

Tom also has three children from previous marriages. He adopted Isabella and son Connor in 1992 and 1995, with his ex, Nicole Kidman and has a daughter, Suri, 17, with ex-wife Katie Holmes.

Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise has made his relationship with Russian socialite girlfriend Elsina Khayrova official, Daily Mail reported. Sources close to the couple, who were first spotted together in December, said they have been ''growing closer'' and have ''made things official.''

''It's well known within Elsina's circle that she and Tom are now an item. They've grown very close over the past few weeks but take a lot of care not to be photographed together because they want to maintain their privacy,'' a source told the outlet. The source added that the 'Top Gun' star has been staying the night at Ms. Khayrova's apartment.

''They enjoy hanging out together and despite their wealth, do a lot of the things that normal couples do,'' the source further said. 

The couple was recently seen together at a charity dinner supporting London's Air Ambulance Charity, with Prince William in attendance as the guest of honor. The two have also been spotted dining at some of London's most exclusive restaurants, and taking walks together in Hyde Park, near her home, as per Page Six.

Rumours about their relationship first surfaced in December 2023 after the couple was spotted partying together in London's Mayfair. Reports suggested that the duo attended the event as a couple, almost inseparable from each other during the entirety of the event. A guest at the Mayfair party reported seeing them exchanging affectionate gestures, and dancing before leaving the venue together.

Notably, the  ‘Mission Impossible'  star has been married three times before. The 61-year-old actor was married to actresses Mimi Rogers from 1987 to 1990, Nicole Kidman from 1990 to 2001, and Katie Holmes from 2006 to 2012.

Who is Elsina Khayrova?

Ms Khayrova, 36, is a Russian-born former model who now lives as a British citizen in London. She is the daughter of a prominent Russian politician Rinat Khayrov who is also an ally of Vladimir Putin. Ms. Khayrova was previously married to Russian diamond tycoon Dmitry Tsvetkov but they split in 2020, as per  The Telegraph .

The couple used to live in a 25-million-pound mansion in Surrey and even owned five high-end apartments in London worth 18 million pounds. They also owned high-end motors, jewellery, art, and apartments in Cyprus and Dubai, reportedly worth millions. 

During their divorce proceedings, it was revealed that she hid substantial assets, including her 1 million pound handbag collection. However, she inherited millions of pounds after the acrimonious divorce. She has two children, one son and one daughter, with Mr Tsvetkov.

The "Top Gun" star, 61, and Russian socialite Elsina Khayrova, 36, attended London’s Air Ambulance Charity together Feb. 7. Prince William was the guest of honor during the gala, and Cruise has longtime ties to the royal family.

According to the Daily Mail, Cruise and Khayrova, who is 25 years younger, have made their romance official. 

"It's well known within Elsina's circle that she and Tom are now an item," a source recently told the outlet. "They've grown very close over the past few weeks but take a lot of care not to be photographed together because they want to maintain their privacy."

Prior to Khayrova, photographers snapped photos of Cruise hugging his "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning" co-star Hayley Atwell, 41, last year during a cocktail party at the hotel De Russie in Rome before the world premiere of the film.

There had been rumors Cruise was dating Atwell, a relationship that reportedly began in 2020 during filming of the latest installment in the "Mission: Impossible" franchise.

However, the actors never commented on their rumored romance, and Atwell announced she was engaged to boyfriend Ned Wolfgang Kelly in April 2023.

On the red carpet for the same film the following day, Cruise also appeared affectionate with his other co-star, Rebecca Ferguson, 40. He gave her a kiss on the cheek, and she seemed to whisper in his ear. They held onto each other for several photos.

Despite the cozy appearance, Ferguson is married to businessman Rory St. Clair Gainer, with whom she has one child.

Cruise has a history of sparking romance rumors with past co-stars.

During the press tour for 2017's "The Mummy," the actor was rumored to be dating co-star Sofia Boutella, 41. At a stop in Sydney, Cruise gave her a kiss on the cheek, and she had her arm around him at one point.

Rumors flew across the internet that the two were an item, but it amounted to nothing more than speculation.

In May, at Miami's Formula One Grand Prix race, Cruise was photographed walking with Shakira below the thousands of attendees in the stands. 

The rumor mill quickly began grinding out headlines, but the recently-divorced Shakira, 47, shut down the story shortly after the photo was taken.

In a report by Us Weekly, a source told the outlet, "Shakira had a great time hanging out with Tom at F1, but she has no interest in dating him. He was really nice, and she enjoyed his company, but she isn’t focused on dating him or anybody else at the moment. She has a lot on her plate and is focused on her kids and career for now."

With all of Cruise's rumored romances, he has also had official relationships with A-list stars over the years.

His first marriage to actress Mimi Rogers lasted from 1987 to 1990. In a Rolling Stone interview, Cruise revealed how they met.

"I met her at a dinner party about a year ago when I was developing ‘Top Gun.’ "She was dating a friend, and, uh, I thought she was extremely bright."

After his split with Rogers, Cruise married Nicole Kidman . The couple starred in three movies together — "Days of Thunder," "Far and Away" and "Eyes Wide Shut," — and were a staple on the red carpet throughout the '90s.

Not long after his divorce from Kidman, Cruise began dating his "Vanilla Sky" co-star Penelope Cruz .

Cruise's spokesperson, Pat Kingsley, confirmed they were an official couple, telling reporters in 2001, "Tom Cruise invited Penelope Cruz to his 39th birthday party on July 6, and they've had a few dates since."

The actor also opened up about the relationship in Marie Claire, telling the magazine in 2003, "I surprise Penelope with different things. She’ll come home, and I’ll have her favorite kind of food made, have a bath drawn. I like doing stuff like that. She likes my food, so I cook for her. It’s always the little things I like in a relationship."

After nearly three years of dating, Cruise and Cruz split.

Cruise and his third wife, Katie Holmes, began dating in 2005. The couple later welcomed their daughter, Suri Cruise, in 2006 before marrying in Italy that same year.

In 2005, they arrived at a "War of the Worlds" fan event on a motorcycle together, making a grand entry to their relationship.

Fans Think Tom Cruise, 61, Looks ‘Unrecognizable’ At Charity Gala Alongside Prince William: ‘Got A Facelift’

Tom Cruise graced a charity gala in London as a distinguished VIP guest alongside Prince William last week and turned heads.

The event, which was held at the elegant Raffles London in the historic Old War Office building, was an exquisite affair in support of London’s Air Ambulance Charity.

As one of the evening’s highlights, the Top Gun: Maverick star , 61, captivated the attention of the audience on February 7th, with some noticing a noticeable “change” in his appearance.

Some fans on Instagram commented on his alleged “facelift,” accusing him of altering his features and now looking “unrecognizable.”

At the gathering, Cruise donned a classic tuxedo and bow tie and had longer brown locks. The Mission Impossible alum beamed in photos with the Prince of Wales, 41, who donned a similar classic get-up.

Entertainment Tonight uploaded photos of Cruise and the Duke of Cambridge at the event on Instagram, and many fans shared their thoughts on the Eyes Wide Shut star in the comments section. "Is that really Tom??" one wrote as another accused him of getting a "facelift ."

Someone else added: "Why does Tom Cruise look like he had a mouth transplant?" One other commented: "Tommy boy got a face lift!" Others stressed that Cruise still looked radiant and healthy. "Tom still looks so great," one wrote as another replied: "I say he looks very good and relaxed."

This also isn't the first time that Cruise has sparked facelift or plastic surgery rumors. In an interview with the U.S. Sun last year, plastic surgeon Dr. Richard Westreich shared that in his opinion, it’s "possible that he may have spent up to $50,000 on cosmetic treatments," including some "very heavy" Botox.

"Overall, I think Tom is just getting started with it all," Westreich hinted to the pub, before comparing the Minority Report actor's current appearance to his appearance from a few months prior.

"In the Oscar run-up, Tom's forehead looked as smooth as a drum. His eyebrows also look a little lower than usual. If Botox is done fairly heavily, then the brows can drop, and this looks like pretty heavy Botox to me on his forehead."

The doctor added: "Usually male actors want very light treatments because they want to maintain their ability to make expressions. Looking at past photos of Tom smiling, his brows go up and he has lines on his forehead."

"Throughout the course of Tom's life, he may have done a couple of minor cosmetic treatments," Westreich thought, adding, "There's the possibility of functional rhinoplasty, of laser skin, resurfacing, and perhaps even a little lipo under his chin."

"Looking at past photos of Tom, I thought that maybe he'd had the functional rhinoplasty in the pre-2005 era," Westreich continued. Despite many people thinking the  Knight and Day star had filler, Westreich doesn’t think it's one of the alleged procedures he had done, saying: "I also don't see any real evidence of filler anywhere on his face, so maybe the new Botox is just the beginning."

"I don't think he's done between his eyebrows, because those lines still look pretty deep. He's had those lines for years and is probably being careful." Weistreich finished off by saying, "I don't think he's going to start doing filler because he doesn't look like a volume-deficient guy."

And as far as Cruise having a facelift goes, Westreich thought he's "nowhere near needing a facelift or anything like that," nor does he "think he's had one."

Tom Cruise is 'growing closer' to his glamorous Russian socialite girlfriend - and has been regularly spending nights at her swanky London apartment, friends have told MailOnline. 

Cruise, 61 and Elsina Khayrova, 36, both attended a glittering gala dinner last week in support of London's Air Ambulance Charity at the five-star Raffles Hotel where Prince William was guest of honour.

Cruise and his new love interest arrived at the glitzy event separately but friends say they have been spending more and more time together with the Hollywood actor a regular visitor to her lavish £10million apartment in Knightsbridge.

A source told MailOnline that the pair are now official, explaining: 'It's well known within Elsina's circle that she and Tom are now an item. 

'They've grown very close over the past few weeks but take a lot of care not to be photographed together because they want to maintain their privacy.

They continued: 'Tom has been staying the night at Elsina's apartment, which as you can imagine, is a very beautiful place. They enjoy hanging out together and despite their wealth, do a lot of the things that normal couples do.' 

The source revealed that the couple have also dined privately at a number of exclusive London restaurants and have also enjoyed strolls together through  Hyde Park , while in disguise, which is close to Elsina's home.

MailOnline has contacted Tom's representatives for comment. 

Khayrova posted pictures and a video of herself in a stunning black evening dress while attending the London Air Ambulance Black and White gala which raised £1.2 million.

Cruise was pictured chatting with Prince William who jokingly recalled his stylish fashion choice from the 2022 premiere of Top Gun: Maverick .

The Prince of Wales, 41, made a return to public engagements at the glitzy gala following the news of his father, King Charles III , cancer diagnosis.

Cruise is a long-term supporter of the charity organisation, and on spotting the actor, William quipped: 'I haven't got my Top Gun slippers on.'

The father-of-three was referring to his playful fashion choice at the Top Gun premiere - a pair of black loafers decorated with planes, reminiscent of the fighter aircraft used in the original 1986 action movie.

The Hollywood actor and Elsina are first believed to have met last December during a party in Mayfair, where they were seen canoodling.

One guest claimed: 'They were inseparable, clearly a couple. He seemed to be besotted with her.

Elsina was previously married to Dimitry Tsvetkov, 43 who claimed that their acrimonious three-year divorce battle cost him an astonishing £150 million.

Speaking to MailOnline after news of his ex-wife's romance with Cruise emerged, he claimed to have spent an astonishing £10million on clothes and another £2million on handbags for her, during their tumultuous 11-year marriage.

He said: 'Irrespective of whoever she's with, Tom Cruise or anybody else, they should be aware that she likes the finer things in life and has expensive and luxurious taste. Tom should keep his eyes and wallet wide open.'

But he added: 'I'm happy for her, I wish her all the best.'

Following the London Air Ambulance gala, Cruise was spotted at a helipad in Battersea, London, as he prepared to leave the UK and head to the Super Bowl in Las Vegas .

He was pictured with a female companion, after piloting the matte black helicopter himself and landing on the helipad but it was not Elsina, who has been posting pictures of herself while on a skiing trip over the weekend in France .

In a speech during last week's gala event Prince William told his audience: 'I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you, also, for the kind messages of support for Catherine and for my father, especially in recent days. It means a great deal to us all.

'It's fair to say the past few weeks have had a rather 'medical' focus. So, I thought I'd come to an air ambulance function to get away from it all!'

There was also a joke for Cruise, known for his daredevil high-flying film stunts, as the royal said: 'Here in London, the current aircraft have served magnificently. But our capital city needs a new fleet.

'And we are Up Against Time. The clue really is in the Appeal's name. By September, we need the two new red birds - decked with the latest kit such as night vision - in our skies.

'I should also take this opportunity to give a mention to my - our - fellow pilot, Tom Cruise. Tom, huge thanks for supporting us tonight.

And if you wouldn't mind not borrowing either of the new helicopters for the next Mission Impossible, it would be appreciated.

'We have all seen on our screens that - how can I put it - you seem to have a different take on 'normal wear and tear' to the rest of us.

'It's not the kind that buffs out, that's for sure.'

 Khayrova, 36, is the daughter of a prominent Russian MP and ex-wife of a diamond-trading oligarch and is believed to have met Cruise in December at a party (pictured in 2018)

Tom Cruise , 61, and his now ex-girlfriend, Elsina Khayrova, 36, have called it quits.

The Mission: Impossible actor and Elsina were first spotted together in public in February. After the big relationship reveal, the two have broken things off. A source told The Sun US that the relationship simply "ran its course" and the two will remain friends as they both live in the same block in London.

The two were spotted on many dates around London earlier this month, implying that the relationship became serious. The 61-year-old Top Gun actor and his new 36-year-old girlfriend both stepped out in public and attended a gala dinner in support of London's Air Ambulance Charity. However, the pair arrived separately. They were also seen at the five-star Raffles Hotel.

The source said : "To end things on a bad note would have been awkward if they’d bumped into each other in the lift. There are no hard feelings between them and for Tom, their relationship simply ran its course."

The breakup comes after Tom met Elsina's son and daughter, as per Page Six . Her children came from her previous marriage to Dimitry Tsvetkov. Elsina and her ex-husband ended their marriage in 2021. They were in dispute when it came to their home in Surrey, England, five apartments in London, two cars, jewerly and artwork by artwork by Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Marc Chagall. Tsvetkov told the Daily Mail that the divorce cost him £150 million ($188 million). He spent £10 million ($12 million) on clothes and £2 million ($2.5 million) on designer handbags throughout their 11-year marriage.

Tom also has three children from previous marriages. He adopted Isabella and son Connor in 1992 and 1995, with his ex, Nicole Kidman and has a daughter, Suri, 17, with ex-wife Katie Holmes.

The actor met the model through her friend, who brought her to Tom's exclusive Sunday tea parties at his penthouse in London, according to a source who told Page Six. Page Six reported that Cruise was shopping for apartments in the UK after falling in love with London back in June 2022 but the pair were first spotted in December 2023 in Grosvenor Square.

In the beginning of February, a source told the Daily Mail that they were growing "very close" to one another. They try not to be phographed together as they wanted to "maintain their privacy."

Tom Cruise reportedly separated from his girlfriend just days after he met her children - but he wants to remain friends.

The 61-year-old Top Gun actor and 36-year-old Elsina Khayrova , a Russian socialite, crossed paths initially last December during a soirée in Mayfair, where eyewitnesses spotted them engaged in affectionate gestures, per the Daily Mail .

However, recent reports suggest that the spark between them has fizzled out, with Tom apparently deciding to "cool off the romance," albeit with intentions to maintain a cordial relationship due to their shared residency in a London apartment block.

This reportedly comes just days after he met her children.

A source disclosed to The Sun : "To end things on a bad note would have been awkward if they'd bumped into each other in the lift."

The insider added: "There are no hard feelings between them and for Tom, their relationship simply ran its course."

Elsina, who has a son and daughter from her previous marriage to oligarch Dimitry Tsvetkov, hails from a prominent family background, being the daughter of Rinat Khayrova, a significant Russian politician with an estimated fortune of £5 billion, known for her close ties to President Putin.

Following reports of Elsina being romantically involved with Tom, Dimitry told the Daily Mail : "Irrespective of whoever she's with, Tom Cruise or anybody else, they should be aware that she likes the finer things in life and has expensive and luxurious taste. Tom should keep his eyes and wallet wide open. I'm happy for her, I wish her all the best."

Tom and Elsina recently graced a glittering gala dinner organized in support of London's Air Ambulance Charity at the opulent Raffles Hotel, where Prince William was the distinguished guest of honor.

Despite arriving separately at the high-profile event, insiders disclosed that Tom and Elsina had been increasingly inseparable, with the Hollywood star becoming a regular fixture at her lavish £10 million abode in Knightsbridge.

An insider revealed to the Daily Mail : "It's well known within Elsina's circle that she and Tom are now an item." The source continued, "They've grown very close over the past few weeks but take a lot of care not to be photographed together because they want to maintain their privacy."

"They enjoy hanging out together and despite their wealth, do a lot of the things that normal couples do," the insider added.

Tom, famously known for his secretive personal life, has had his fair share of high-profile relationships, including his previous marriage to actress Katie Holmes.

In more recent times, Tom was rumored to have been romantically involved with his Mission Impossible co-star, British actress Hayley Atwell, although these rumors were swiftly denied by Hayley herself.

Tom Cruise split from his Russian socialite girlfriend in order to avoid issues with her outspoken oligarch ex, a source tells Page Six.

Following news that Cruise and Elsina Khayrova were dating , her ex-husband — the colorful international diamond trader, Dmitry Tsvetkov — gave a long interview to the Daily Mail detailing their marriage and warning Cruise to “keep his eyes and wallet wide open.” 

A source tells us that the article worried the very private star’s team.

“He’s filming and can’t be shooting and have her husband saying stuff every time he is mentioned in the press,” a source told us. “They just didn’t want to deal with the ex husband coming up with something nasty to say every few weeks.” 

Tsetkov — who reportedly prefers the term “tycoon” over oligarch — also somewhat unusually continuously fanned over Cruise during the interview, calling him his “favorite actor,” stating he has seen “Eyes Wide Shut” a whopping 30 times (and also loves “Rain Man” and “The Firm”), and added that he talked with a Hollywood producer pal about having Cruise play him in a movie about his life.

“I told the producer that the only actor who could play me is Tom Cruise,” quipped Tsetkov to the UK outlet. “We’re about the same height and weight and I would be honored if that could happen. I couldn’t think of anyone better to play me than Tom. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to meet him one day to discuss this project.”

Cruise has been making headlines as he currently films his eighth “Mission: Impossible” movie. The actor, 61, who known for doing his own stunts, was most recently seen sprinting through London for a scene.

The Sun reported that Cruise and Khayrova had split in late February with a source telling the outlet, “There are no hard feelings between them and, for Tom, their relationship simply ran its course.”

The wealthy Russian socialite is the daughter of a Vladamir Putin ally, Russian politician Rinat Khayrova. 

Tsetkov, who has British citizenship and was reportedly on the Kremlin’s most wanted list in 2020, claims to have survived assassination attempts .

In the Daily Mail article, he also said he spent over $12 million on clothes and approximately $2.5 million on handbags for his ex during their 11 year marriage. He also claimed he lost nearly $200 million in the divorce. 

Their  split made international headlines  as millions were in dispute, including a mansion in Surrey, England, five London apartments, a Bentley and a Ferrari, plus Cartier jewelry and artwork by Renoir and Chagall.

“Irrespective of whoever she’s with, Tom Cruise or anybody else, they should be aware that she likes the finer things in life and has expensive and luxurious tastes,” he told the publication.

But we hear that Khayrova, 36, is still hopeful she and Cruise could rekindle their romance. “She didn’t do anything wrong,” says our source. 

However, she doesn’t seem to be taking the breakup too badly. She has been Instagramming from the luxe Amara hotel in Cyprus this week.

On Thursday, she posted an image on Instagram Stories of herself saying: “A woman’s energy is reflected in her daily practice of loving, appreciating, and accepting herself, as well as recognizing her own worth,” with a heart emoji.

In another, a caption read, “Always in love,” with a heart emoji.

Khayrova and Cruise were first spotted together publicly at a party in December in London’s Grosvenor Square, and Page Six exclusively reported that they had met when a friend of Khayrova’s brought her to one of his exclusive Sunday tea parties at his Hyde Park penthouse.

“He has butlers and homemade cakes, and it’s all very British,” said our source at the time.

In June 2022, Page Six  exclusively reported  that Cruise was shopping for apartments in the UK after falling in love with London.

Après ce long entretien dans lequel Dmitry Tsvetkov révèle les coulisses de son mariage avec Elsina Khayrova, l’entourage du scientologue a immédiatement réagi. «Il ne peut pas travailler correctement si l’ex-mari d’Elsina dit quelque chose de désagréable dans la presse toutes les deux semaines», a détaillé une source proche de l’acteur à Page Six . De quoi mettre un terme à leur aventure, mais pas d’y échapper pour autant : les deux anciens amants habitent le même immeuble à Londres. «Rompre sur un mauvais terme aurait été très gênant, surtout s’ils se croisent dans l'ascenseur», révélait une source au média américain The Sun . Tom Cruise, 61, 'Makes Things Official' With Elisa Khayrova, 36

Tom Cruise is "growing closer" to Russian socialite Elsina Khayrova , 36, with sources sharing the two have made their relationship official, RadarOnline.com has learned.

The 61-year-old movie actor was first linked to much younger Khayrova in December after they were "inseparable" on the dance floor at a party in London's Mayfair. Now, insiders shared Cruise has taken his relationship with the divorcée to the next level.

"It's well known within Elsina's circle that she and Tom are now an item," a source told Daily Mail .

"They've grown very close over the past few weeks but take a lot of care not to be photographed together because they want to maintain their privacy," they continued, revealing that the Mission Impossible actor has been sleeping over at his new lover's home.

"Tom has been staying the night at Elsina's apartment, which as you can imagine, is a very beautiful place. They enjoy hanging out together and despite their wealth, do a lot of the things that normal couples do," the insider stated.

Despite "making things official," Cruise and Khayrova are working overtime to keep their relationship private, which includes not posing for photos together. The pair was recently spotted at London's Air Ambulance Charity last week, but sources say they arrived separately to avoid too much attention.

Cruise made headlines when he was photographed rubbing shoulders with Prince William . The Prince of Wales, 41, put on a brave face to attend the event just days after Buckingham Palace announced his father King Charles III 's cancer diagnosis .

Cruise's new lady doesn't come without baggage. Khayrova went through a messy divorce with diamond trader tycoon Dmitry Tsvetkov , who accused her of failing to disclose her massive handbag collection of luxury bags, said to be worth about $1 million, in her bitter breakup battle.

While Tsvetkov fought his ex tooth and nail in their three-year divorce battle , he has no ill will toward her new relationship with Cruise — but he did have a warning for the Top Gun stud.

"Irrespective of whoever she's with, Tom Cruise or anybody else, they should be aware that she likes the finer things in life and has expensive and luxurious taste. Tom should keep his eyes and wallet wide open," Tsvetkov told Daily Mail after news of their romance first broke.

"I'm happy for her, I wish her all the best."

Lewis Hamilton is producing a Formula 1 movie with Joseph Kosinski starring Brad Pitt.

The British racing star could have worked with the filmmaker on Top Gun: Maverick had it not been for his conflicting work schedule.

In a new interview, Hamilton revealed he lobbied Tom Cruise to star in a possible Top Gun sequel before the 2022 film was made.

“Firstly, I hadn’t even had, like, an acting lesson,” he said. “And I don’t want to be the one that lets this movie down. And then secondly, I just really didn’t have the time to dedicate to it. I remember having to tell Joe and Tom — and it broke my heart. And then I regretted it, naturally, when they show me the movie and it’s: It could’ve been me!”

Although he didn’t have the opportunity to work with Kosinski in Top Gun: Maverick , he will now work with him in the Formula 1 film.

“My point was: Guys, this movie needs to be so authentic,” Hamilton said. “There’s two different fan groups that we have — like, the old originals, who from the day they’re born hearing the Grand Prix music every weekend and watching with their families, to the new generation that just learned about it today through Netflix.”

He continued, “I felt my job really has been to try to call BS. ‘This would never happen.’ ‘This is how it would be.’ ‘This is how it could happen.’ Just giving them advice about what racing is really about and what, as a racing fan, would appeal and what would not.”

Consequently, it’s already clear that Powell has qualities similar to Cruise in that era, which would make him taking over a character that Cruise originated easier to grasp.
