PGA Tour Championship: TV channel, live stream, tee times for FedEx Cup tournament

All the excitement of the PGA Tour season concludes this weekend with the Tour Championship.

The top 30 players will battle for the FedExCup in the serenity of Georgia's East Lake Golf Club.

The event's purse is $75 million, with the winner receiving $18 million of that.

Last year, Rory McIlroy won his third championship and FedEx Cup, becoming the first player with that many titles. The Northern Ireland maestro beat out American Scottie Scheffler after making up six strokes in the final round.

McIlroy returns to take on Scheffler, who currently has the lead in the PGA standings. Scheffler is just ahead of Viktor Hovland in second and the defending champion is sitting in third.

The players get a special advantage in the tournament based on their standings.

The PGA Tour Championship for the FedEx Cup tees off at 11:30 a.m. ET on Thursday from East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta.

The 2023 TOUR Championship tees off from East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia on Thursday, August 24. The tournament marks the last of three playoff events, and a field of just 30 golfers will compete for an $18 million first prize. Golfers will start Thursday’s play with a certain number of strokes based on their FedExCup ranking. For instance, Scottie Scheffler, this year’s top points earner, begins on Thursday at -10. Rory McIlroy starts at -7.

Scheffler opens as the favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook , set at +140 to win. McIlroy follows at +330, and Viktor Hovland sits at +500. Hovland will start the tournament at -8.

The tournament gets underway on Thursday with tee times starting at 11:26 a.m. ET. PGA TOUR Live via ESPN+ will also have extended streaming coverage of all 18 holes of the event and every player.

2022 Tour Championship tee times: Sunday's final-round pairings

It’s here. After a tumultuous season that featured Scottie Scheffler’s ascendance, a younger generation making its mark and just a bit of chaos stemming from LIV Golf’s emergence, the 2021-22 PGA Tour season concludes this week at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta for the Tour Championship.

After another BMW Championship victory , defending champ Patrick Cantlay jumps into the No. 2 seed, behind Scheffler and looking to become the first player to win the FedEx Cup title in back-to-back seasons. Behind them are Xander Schauffele and Sam Burns, followed by the remaining 25 players in the field all looking to take home the $18 million grand prize.

With the distinctive staggered-stroke format, Scheffler will start the event at 10 under, a two-stroke lead over anyone else in the field, and each player will have their own respective starting score based on their place in the 30 players.

Just making the cut are Aaron Wise and Adam Scott who both needed pars on the 72nd hole at the Wilmington Country Club to clinch a bid for East Lake. Scott Stallings also made the jump after starting at No. 46 heading into the BMW Championship; a solo second-place finish was more than enough for him to qualify for the Tour Championship for the first time in 10 FedEx Cup playoff appearances.

The winner will receive an $18 million cut of the $75 million purse.

2023 Tour Championship tee times, pairings: FedEx Cup Playoffs field, schedule for Round 2 on Friday

Three players co-lead with 54 holes to go at east lake.

A bizarre first round at the 2023 Tour Championship resulted in a three-way tie for the lead between Viktor Hovland, Keegan Bradley and Collin Morikawa. All three golfers sit at 10 under entering Round 2 as pre-tournament leader Scottie Scheffler fell from 10 under to 9 under after shooting 71 on Thursday across his first 18 holes.

Scheffler is by no means out of the mix, but he is operating from a chase position now, as are Matt Fitzpatrick, Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy (-7). Follow Tour Championship live leaderboard updates throughout Round 2.

It will be fascinating to see what happens at the top with the co-leaders. Hovland was fine but not amazing Thursday as he shot 68. Morikawa and Bradley were flawless with bogey free rounds. The former shot 61, while the latter shot 63 to get into the mix at this event.

Morikawa and Bradley will play together Friday in the second round as they try to accomplish one of the more difficult things in golf: back up a great round with another one of equal quality. 

There are other elite pairings, too. Hovland and Scheffler will play together again, while two potential Ryder Cup duos -- McIlroy and Fitzpatrick, plus Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton -- will start just before them. 

Friday should be great again at the Tour Championship, and hopefully it's as wild as the first 18 holes.

2022 Tour Championship tee times: Round 2 pairings for Friday

The second round of the 2022 Tour Championship begins Friday afternoon at East Lake in Atlanta, Ga. You can find full Round 2 tee times for the tournament at the bottom of this post.

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler started the first round at 10 under with a two-stroke lead over Patrick Cantlay , thanks to his top position in the FedEx Cup standings. In Thursday’s round he didn’t just make the most of his advantage, he grew it significantly.

Scheffler fired a five-under 65, one short of the round of the day, to reach 15 under and increase his lead to five strokes heading into the second round.

With tee times and pairings reshuffling after each round based on score, Scheffler will be joined by Xander Schauffele (10 under) in the second round, teeing off Friday at 1:55 p.m. ET.

For a while Friday, this tournament looked like it was over. Scottie Scheffler was head and shoulders above the rest of the field after going out in 32, but Xander Schauffele turned it on down the stretch.

During the second round of the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Schauffele posted a 29 on the back nine and played his last three holes 4 under.

He’s now just two back of the world No. 1 entering the weekend.

The biggest mover of the day was Max Homa, who had the second tee time this morning but thanks to an 8-under 62 will tee off with Rory McIlroy Saturday afternoon sitting at 9 under, 10 back.
