How to Check in With Airline Locator Numbers

trip reference number

Airline locator numbers go by many names (confirmation numbers, reservation numbers, booking codes, and record locator numbers, to name a few). Whatever they're called, a locator number is simply the numbers issued by an airline to easily identify each reservation.

Airline locator numbers are usually six characters in length, and often feature a combination of both alphabetic and numeric characters. Knowing your locator number can help expedite the process of checking into your flight or dealing with issues regarding your reservation.

The locator numbers are unique to each guest reservation, but they're only valid for a given period of time, usually after the flight has been recorded. This is because the number will have to be reused eventually due to the sheer volume of flights and passengers.

Passenger Name Records

Airline locator numbers should not be confused with passenger name records (PNR) which are numbers that contain personal information for a passenger and the itinerary information for either an individual passenger or a group of passengers traveling together (for example, families traveling together would have the same PNR).

How to Find a Locator Number

Most airlines will automatically generate and display your record locator numbers on-screen after you initially purchase your tickets. However, sometimes airlines might wait to assign the locator number until the customer receives a confirmation email, so don't worry if you don't see it immediately upon completing your purchase.

When you receive the confirmation email, the airline locator number will be displayed along with the passenger and flight information. Be sure to bookmark this email because you will need to reference the locator number to check-in or change your reservation.

You can also call an airline representative and ask for your record locator number if you cannot find it in your email. If you're checking in at the airport (either at the electronic kiosk or at the counter) once you receive your boarding pass , your record locator will be on the ticket. At this point, though, you should not need to remember or use your locator number unless there is a problem with your trip.

Expedited Check-In and Travel

It's advised that you write your record locator down when you receive it from the airline. Some passengers will write the code down on a bookmark, in their phones' notes section, or on slips of paper kept in their wallets for easy access, while others commit the six-figure code to memory instead. Whichever method you decide to use, knowing your record locator number before you arrive at check-in will make the entire process go a lot quicker and smoother.

As always, you should arrive at the airport with plenty of time before your flight in case you experience any issues when retrieving your boarding pass, checking your luggage, navigating a backed up security line , or any other sticky situations that may arise while traveling.

For most domestic travel with checked bags, you should allow at least an hour and a half before your flight to check-in, while for international travel, it is recommended you arrive two to three hours before the airline's boarding time to avoid rushing or even a missed flight.

What to Do if You Lose Your Locator Number

If it comes time to check in and you can't find the locator number you have a few options. If you connected your frequent flyer account to the reservation simply log in and the trip should appear. If you didn't there are some airlines who allow check-in without a locator numbers. Depending on the airline, you can use the number of the credit card used to purchase the tickets, the ticket number, or the flight number along with some additional identifying information. If you can only use a locator number, you can try to call the airline, or just check-in at the airport and receive your boarding pass.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most popular topics.

We are experiencing a high volume of support requests. To process your request quicker, we kindly ask you to fill out this form.

You cannot make any changes to your bookings on CheckMyTrip. If you need to book or modify your travel plans, or if you need further information that you can’t find in the app, contact the travel agency, the airline or the company that you purchased your tickets from.

Always check flight information with your airline or departure airport. CheckMyTrip displays and sends flight alerts (via email or push notifications) if your flight changes status. These messages are based on content we receive from our partners who specialize in flight status information. Information on flight status provided by CheckMyTrip is indicative.

If you want to amend your booking, please contact your travel agency or the company where you booked your ticket. CheckMyTrip cannot do that for you.

When you add your trip, you will find a “Check-in” button next to each flight. The button will be activated when the check-in window for your flight is open, so you can easily continue with the check-in process on the airline website. If you have any problems checking in, please contact the airline or the company where you booked your ticket. CheckMyTrip cannot help you with that.

You can also request automatic check-in before the check-in window is open. With our partner Airobot, you can choose to prefill or fill out a check-in form and once the check-in window is open you will receive the boarding pass via email (usually 24 hours before the flight).

Please note that this is a paid service in collaboration with our partner, Airobot. If there was a problem with your check-in you will receive an email notification and information about your refund.

You cannot store or print electronic boarding passes in CheckMyTrip. For any questions related to your boarding pass, contact your airline or travel provider directly.

You can see your ticket number in the trip details. However, you cannot access electronic tickets directly in CheckMyTrip. Questions regarding your electronic ticket should be addressed to your airline or travel provider.

You cannot change or select seats directly in the app. You must contact the airline or travel provider directly to reserve or change your assigned seat.

If you require more details regarding baggage allowance (like cabin baggage allowance or maximum permissible weight of a checked-in bag), contact your airline or travel provider directly.

There are 3 ways to add your trips: 1. Simply forward your booking confirmation emails to [email protected] and we will import your trip details for you. Just make sure that the email you are forwarding from is the same email that is associated with your CheckMyTrip account.

2. Via the CheckMyTrip digital assistant: If your trip is booked through the Amadeus Booking system (by travel agencies or airlines using Amadeus), you can share the 6-digit booking code with the digital assistant to automatically import it. Please note that to import trips with a booking number the trip reservation email, first and last name need to match the email, first and last name registered in CheckMyTrip. On the CheckMyTrip app settings page, you have the possibility to update your first name and last name.

3. Via the CheckMyTrip digital assistant: You can share the trip details with the digital assistant to add it for you

Account Management

When you install the app, you can register with your email address and click on the “Continue” button. After providing your First and Last Name click on “Register”, and you will receive an email with an activation link to validate your email address within 24 hours. Once the validation is complete, you can log in to CheckMyTrip.

When you first create an account, an email is sent to the email address you provided with a code to activate your account. The activation link is valid for the next 24 hours. If you did not receive the activation email or did not click on the link provided in the email, you can enter your email and click “Continue” to receive a new activation link. Please note that if you haven’t logged in to the app for more than 2 years, your account may be deleted. At CheckMyTrip your privacy is important to us – we want to ensure we only keep personal information that is needed. To continue using CheckMyTrip, you can simply create a new account.

Your login identifier is the email address you registered with. If you want to change your email address, you need to create a new account with the new email address. Please note that you will have to re-import all your future trips (past trips can be imported if they have not been purged from the system) using the new account.

1. Navigate to Settings 2. Click on Delete account at the bottom and follow the instructions Once the account has been deleted, we automatically delete all the personal information stored in our CheckMyTrip system.

1. Navigate to Settings 2. Go to Language and select your preferred language from “Display Language”

Digital Assistant

There are some cases in which the digital assistant is unable to automatically import your trip with a booking number. These might be: – the booking number is incorrect – the booking is not done in the Amadeus booking system (booking is done through travel providers that are not customers of Amadeus solutions) – the booking was done with a different email address or first and last name than the one you are registered with in CheckMyTrip. In case the digital assistant is not able to import the trip with a booking number, you can add a trip by forwarding your booking confirmation email to [email protected] or by sharing the trip details – departure date and flight number and the assistant will create the trip for you.

CheckMyTrip works with trusted partners to provide additional travel services. If you are experiencing an issue with a booking or you have questions – please contact the service provider directly. You can find the contact details in the email confirmation you have received after the booking.

Trip display

Bookings done on the Amadeus booking system (by travel agencies or airlines using Amadeus) are automatically updated in CheckMyTrip. For bookings made on non-Amadeus systems/providers, we do not receive the updates. Hence you need to send your updated booking confirmation email, which includes the modifications to [email protected]

Open the trip you want to remove and use the “Delete this trip” option at the bottom of the trip itinerary. Note that removing a trip from your trip list has no effect on the actual booking itself.

A booking reference number (also referred to as a “PNR ” or “Record locator”) is a six-digit code containing letters and/or numbers. You will find your booking reference number on your ticket or in the confirmation email provided by your travel provider.

If you get the message “Your booking cannot be retrieved because it might have been cancelled “, contact your travel provider directly.

Please note that CheckMyTrip only displays information about your trip. If your booking was cancelled or modified, please contact your travel agency, airline, or the company you purchased your tickets from. CheckMyTrip cannot do that for you.

If CheckMyTrip receives updates for your flight, all information will be: – Displayed in your trip list – Displayed in your trip details – The Digital assistant will notify you with the change

You are not able to see other passenger information in your trip details – there are privacy-related constraints that prevent us from displaying personal information in multi-traveler bookings.

Please note that CheckMyTrip aims to store and display all your past trip history. However, in certain cases CheckMyTrip might not be able to display trips that are older than 2 years. We apologize for the inconvenience it may cause.

Trip import

Only bookings made on the Amadeus booking system (for travel providers that are customers of Amadeus solutions) can be imported through the manual import feature. Please note that to import trips with a booking number the trip reservation email, first and last name need to match the email, first and last name registered in CheckMyTrip. On the CheckMyTrip app settings page, you have the possibility to update your first name and last name. You can forward your booking confirmation email to [email protected] from the email address linked to your account and the details of your trip will be automatically added to your trip list. Alternatively, you can provide the trip details and dates to the digital assistant to add the trip for you.

The error response suggests that your booking provider is not yet supported by CheckMyTrip. Also, double check that you are sending the booking confirmation email from the email address associated to your CheckMyTrip account. You should also avoid automated signatures inside an email forward, the analysis can fail due to this extra information.

When you forward your confirmation email, it might be that some information cannot be integrated into CheckMyTrip. Your booking confirmation email should always remain as your reference. We are continuously improving CheckMyTrip to avoid such discrepancies.

If you forward a booking confirmation email to CheckMyTrip [email protected], the trip will automatically be saved to your trip list. If you import a trip using the booking number, please ask the digital assistant to “add a trip” and provide the booking number and your trip will be automatically imported in the app. If your booking number is not recognized, please select the option “Add a trip manually” and share your departure date and trip information. The digital assistant will create the trip for you.

We are working on bringing this feature into the app. Please stay tuned.

You cannot store your boarding pass in CheckMyTrip app. If you have problems checking-in or getting your boarding pass, please contact the airline, your travel agency, or the company you purchased your tickets from.

Recently I spent a very long time going through the listings and making note of the reference #'s i.e. FK215972 so I could refer back to them. However, when I logged in again, I cannot identify where to key in the numbers...where do I find it on the home page? This if very frustrating.

' class=

Hi Edgar1941;

The reference numbers that you are referring to are supplied by TA's sister site, FlipKey. FlipKey listings are based on that site, but are displayed on TA as well.

If you go to FlipKey.com you can use those numbers to look-up their listings, but that feature is not available on TA.

Best Regards

I assume you're talking about vacation rental listings, like this one:

http://www.tripadvisor.com/VacationRentalReview-g309246-d1809808-Cascada_Playa_Hermosa_Guanacaste-Playa_Hermosa_Province_of_Guanacaste.html

In future, I recommend just saving them as bookmarks or favorites. However, here's how to find them again. Do a Google search on the reference number, followed by the string site:tripadvisor.com .

For example, to find the listing that I linked above, in Guanacaste, I used the following search string:

FK215972 site:tripadvisor.com

Note that there is only one space character on this line, just before the word "site". There shouldn't be any spaces next to the colon.

Sydney Sweeney Says So Long To Her Vacation With Photo Dump That Includes A Tropical Two-Piece Set, Zip Lines And An Insane Number Of Pool Floaties

She's getting back to work!

Sydney Sweeney in Anyone but You

Following Sydney Sweeney dominating the first few months of the 2024 movie release calendar , between Anyone But You and Immaculate , the actress spent some time away from lights and cameras to enjoy a vacation in Hawaii with a crew of friends. But sadly all vacations must come to an end. After sharing her week-long journey, Sweeney took to social media to say so long to her epic downtime with more trip photos.

Sydney Sweeney has been having a blast among palm trees and breathtaking beaches, but now she’s getting back to the grind. Here’s what she posted to Instagram on Saturday:

A post shared by Sydney Sweeney (@sydney_sweeney) A photo posted by on

Sweeney wrote “ok gtg back to work now, this has been fun” alongside tons of photos and videos of her time on the islands. The first photo has Sweeney rocking a very tropical two-piece set and a flower in her hair and the second shows her swimming under a flowing waterfall. Among the photo dump, she can also be seen trying zip-lining with a couple of friends by her side. The most random of them all has to be the seventh image though, where a crazy amount of floaties are placed on her, covering her entire body.

The Anyone But You star hasn’t been shy about sharing her adventures across the past week. It all started with Sweeney taking to social media to share herself dressed as a chic pirate on a ship and doing karaoke of “Unwritten” as a fun nod to her recent rom-com hit. She also documented her time trying kiteboarding last weekend and shared photos of herself in black bikinis with some fun captions like “good times and tan lines” or when she hung upside down on a Jeep and wrote “hanging in Hawaii.”

The actress most certainly deserved some time soaking up the sun following such a busy moment in her career lately. During the holiday season, her and Glen Powell leaned into affair rumors while promoting Anyone But You before it became a box office hit. Then, she starred in Madame Web with Dakota Johnson in February before being the lead of Immaculate , which came out last month.

When Sweeney says she’s going back to work, for the moment we don’t actually know what she means. We do know she’s already completed filming on a Ron Howard movie called Eden , which is a survival thriller co-starring Ana de Armas, Vanessa Kirby and Jude Law. She has also wrapped on an AppleTV+ movie called Echo Valley , which is a thriller she made with Julianne Moore.

Perhaps she’s finally going to get moving on her Barbarella remake , which was announced back in 2022? We’ll keep you updated as we learn more about what’s next for Sweeney. In the meantime, it's great to see that the actress took some time for herself in between becoming a massive Hollywood star.

Amsterdam blocks construction of new hotels to fight overtourism

Dutch officials are trying to limit the number of tourists flooding amsterdam.

In another attempt to crack down on overtourism, officials in Amsterdam are banning the construction of new hotels in the Dutch capital.

The policy, announced Wednesday, only permits new hotels in a one-in, one-out system, meaning a new hotel can be built only if another closes. New hotels may not exceed the bed count of the previous hotels and must be “better,” per the city’s release, with more modern and sustainable features.

“Amsterdam says ‘no’ to new hotels,” reads a translated statement from city officials. “We want to make and keep the city livable for residents and visitors.”

The effort follows initiatives in Amsterdam to limit the influx of tourists into the city, a destination known for its tolerant drug policies, sex industry and liberated party scene.

In Amsterdam, people are not prosecuted for buying up to 5 grams of cannabis, which can be purchased in coffee shops. For years, city officials have been trying to rein in hordes of “nuisance” tourists, or those who are attracted to the city by the promise of a night of debauchery.

The city council recently implemented the “ tourism in balance in Amsterdam ” policy, which set a maximum number of overnight stays and day visits in the city, capping the annual visitor count at 20 million people per year. Wednesday’s guidance re-ups that regulation; the number of hotel nights in 2023 was 20,665,000, according to the city.

“We are now taking more measures to ensure that the number of hotel stays does not increase even further,” the city’s statement read.

Last year, seeking to curb the rowdy crowds of the Red Light District and offer residents a better night’s sleep, the city cracked down on public pot smoking in the streets and limited the hours of operation for certain restaurants and sex establishments.

Amsterdam also launched a “ Stay Away ” campaign, directly targeting British men between the ages of 18 to 35. The demographic frequents the city for “stag,” or bachelor, parties, which residents say are disruptive .

Also in 2023, city officials adopted a proposal to relocate a cruise ship terminal . In addition to addressing pollution concerns, the move sought to prevent crowds of tourists from flooding the city’s center upon docking.

It’s unclear how the city plans to enforce the new hotel construction policy; according to the release, new hotels already under construction may continue. That includes 26 hotels with existing rights.
