Yas Island is a short 25 minute taxi ride from the centre of Abu Dhabi. Simply find a taxi and tell your driver to take you to Yas Island. The fairs are reasonable and booking a taxi is very simple, either call the local taxi hotline or download the Abu Dhabi taxi app.

Public Transport

You are just a single bus ride away from Yas Island. Take the 190 bus route Yas Island via the Abu Dhabi Bus Station next to Al Wahda Mall.

If you’re using your own vehicle to reach Yas Island, you have two routes you can explore, the journey on either route will be no more than 30 mins and equally easy. All you have to do is simply follow the signs. 

• Via E10 Highway (Al Raha Beach Highway): head towards Dubai via Maqta Bridge and pass Al Raha Beach Hotel and Raha Mall, afterwhich, simply follow the blue signs that say ‘Yas Leisure Drive’.
• Via E12 Highway (Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Highway)

Take the Corniche Road towards Mina Zayed Port and follow signs for Yas Island and take the E12 Sheikh Khalifa Highway, then follow the blue signs that say ‘Yas Leisure Drive’.

The flight lasts about 30 minutes, takes place in complete safety, and the experience is also suitable for families. Seaplans have up to 9 seats, but it is advisable to book well in advance .

This is one of the few public beaches in Abu Dhabi, and its vast coastline with white sands and crystal waters makes it particularly popular with both tourists and locals.

On weekends it is quite crowded, but it is a good place if you like water sports, because here you can easily rent what you need for jet-skiing or kayaking.

The heart of Yas Island is the Yas Mall, in fact here usually stop most of the buses and taxis to the major attractions of Yas Island, which from here are all easily accessible on foot or with the free shuttle that goes around the island.

Yas Mall is a large shopping mall, offering over 400 stores. In addition to the wide choice of shops for shopping, cinemas and other entertainment opportunities, it boasts a good food court with over 30 good restaurants and fast food.

Most tourists visit Yas Island from Dubai. This is because it is quite easy to move between the two cities: Dubai is about 130 km away, more or less an hour’s drive.

One of the cheapest ways to get from Dubai to Yas Island is by bus , although I don’t recommend it. If you go by public buses, you will need to go to Abu Dhabi Bus Station , and from there take Bus 190 which goes to Yas Island. This can take a long time.

There are also free shuttles from Dubai to Yas Island for those who have pre-booked a ticket to one of the parks on Yas Island. Here you will find the timetables . But be warned: it is best to contact the theme park assistance number before you go, to confirm if the bus service is running. Furthermore, seats are limited and assigned on the first as a first serve basis.

The most obvious and most expensive way to get from Dubai to Yas Island is by taxi , the average fare is AED 200 one way . However, from Dubai there are also many shared or private transfer options that take you directly from Dubai to Yas Island, at a more affordable price.

Reportedly one of the best tracks in the world with the longest straight on an F1 track anywhere in the world at 1.2km long, the Yas Marina Circuit rose to fame during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. How to get to Yas Island

You can reach Yas Island by car, taxi, bus or boat. If you are coming from the centre of Abu Dhabi , the island is only a 30-minute drive away and only a 10-minute drive from Abu Dhabi International Airport. If you are visiting Yas Island from Dubai , then the drive is approximately one hour from Dubai city centre and 75 minutes from Dubai International Airport.

Getting around on Yas Island is easy thanks to the complimentary Yas Express shuttle bus, which takes you to all key points and major attractions throughout the island.

Best time to visit Yas Island

Since Abu Dhabi is in the middle of a desert, the summer months can be extremely hot and humid with minimal rain. However, the advantage of visiting in the summer is you might be able to nab a deal as accommodation prices tend to drop during this time.

If you’re looking for slightly cooler temperatures but still plan to visit the beach and chill by the pool, then the best time is April to May or September to October. The winter months are also a great time to visit, as the Emirates come alive with festivals, concerts and sporting events.
