90 days visit visa amer

In the UAE, residents with certain visas can sponsor family members to live in the country without a job.

If you are unemployed or a student under the age of 18, you need to be sponsored by a family member to remain in the Emirates year-round .

In October 2022, changes to the law meant that residents can now bring their parents and their spouse's parents without having to show they are the only source of support.

However, a minimum monthly salary is still required.

Here is everything you need to know about sponsoring family members.

What monthly income is required to sponsor parents or underage siblings?

To sponsor parents or underage siblings, the minimum salary threshold required is higher than for a wife or child.

Residents can sponsor up to five family members if they earn a minimum monthly salary of Dh10,000.

This increases to six family members if they earn at least Dh15,000 a month.

For more than six family members, dispensation is required.

The fee for sponsoring parents is Dh1,750, plus a refundable Dh5,000 deposit.

“Setting a minimum salary as a condition for expatriates wishing to sponsor family members is only to ensure they will be properly provided for,” said Nida Al Masri, a legal consultant at Justitia Advocates and Legal Consultants in Dubai.

“The terms and conditions are important to regulate this procedure, which reflects the UAE's commitment to supporting its expatriate community and creating a more inclusive society.”

Which accommodation is required to sponsor parents?

The law requires that sponsors are already in suitable accommodation before they apply for the family visa.

This is classified as at least a two-bedroom house or flat, before they apply for the family visa.

They must also present supporting documents that prove family ties at residency centres.

What documents do you need to sponsor parents?

The following documents should also be submitted:

  • Passport-size photograph of the family member
  • Copy of the family member's valid passport
  • Copy of the resident's Emirates ID, passport and residency page.
  • Proof of residence, such as a lease contract
  • Labour contract
  • Three months of bank statements for the resident

Can a woman sponsor her family?

In Abu Dhabi, a woman can sponsor her husband and children if the request is approved by the authorities, according to a customer service agent of the Federal Authority For Identity and Citizenship – ICA .

“She should have a valid work visa and her monthly salary should be at least Dh5,000. The cost of the one-year visa is Dh2,575 and it can be renewed for one more year,” said the executive.

In Dubai, a woman can sponsor her family, but her monthly salary should be at least Dh4,000 and her request must be approved by the GDRFA, the immigration authority.

“A wife can sponsor the family, but she has to obtain an no objection certificate from the husband. The NOC has to be notarised by the Dubai court notary service,” an Amer customer service representative said.

A single mother can also sponsor her child.

What does it cost to sponsor a spouse or child?

A husband can sponsor his immediate family members, such as his wife and children, if they have a minimum salary of Dh4,000 or Dh3,000 plus accommodation.

If these conditions are met, the husband must open a registration file.

This costs between Dh200 to Dh300 if they are outside the UAE, rising to up to four times as much if they are in the country, due to the price of the entry permit and the charge for change of status, according to the Amer Centre for visa services.

The medical test, Emirates ID typing and visa stamping will come to around Dh1,000 altogether. All costs are per person and there is no security deposit needed. Medical tests are not needed for children under 18.

Parents can sponsor sons who are 18 and can continue to do so until they are 25 . Unmarried daughters and disabled children are granted a residency permit regardless of their age.

The documents and the visa costs are the same and it is valid for two years.

90-day visit visa for family members

UAE residents can apply for 90-day entry permits for family members, rather than a 60-day visa, before sponsorship is finalised.

“The resident should have a refundable deposit of Dh1,000 to issue a visit visa for the family members,” the Amer Centre representative said.

The fee for an entry permit is Dh1,020 and the following documents should be submitted:

  • copy of the family member's valid passport
  • copy of the resident's Emirates ID
  • proof of residence, such as a lease contract or hotel reservation
  • copy of a return ticket

Visas can also be applied for online at the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security website, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs website, or on the department's app.

UAE Visa Update: 90-Day Visa For Family Members Of Dubai Residents

Dubai 90 days visa

Dubai is a sprawling gem of the UAE, boasting ultra-modern amenities and a luxury lifestyle like no other country in the world. Be it for leisure, work, business, or any other purpose, visitors flock here to experience its world-famous buildings, culture, development and world-class etiquette, and Dubai welcomes everyone with open arms. The well-organized visa system and procedures make it even easier to travel to the UAE and explore Dubai. Furthermore, 90 Days Dubai Visa For Family Members Of Dubai Residents can be availed now without any hassle.

According to recent reports from UAE Visa news the residents of Dubai can now host their families for three months by obtaining a 90-day Dubai visa, which enables them to enter and stay in Dubai for a period of three months. The applicant is required to pay a refundable deposit of AED 1000 for this three-month visit visa. However, the total cost of this visa, including all fees, would be AED 1770.

As per the reports in the Khaleej Times, this was stated by a man based out of a company in Dubai who had availed of these visas for his company’s employees. “I have applied for this visa for family members of two of my colleagues in the last month,” he said. “I approached the AMER centre in Karama near the post office, and the process was easy. However, as per my experience, the family members must be immediate blood relatives like mother, father or siblings.”

It is considered that family members who are immediate blood relatives of the resident, like a mother, father, or sibling, can secure this 90-day Dubai visa. This update comes after the UAE visa system saw several reforms, including the new UAE visa rules introduced in October 2023. As a result, this implemented one of the largest residency and entry permit reforms in the UAE until now, and it is particularly notable that now, only individuals can apply for these visas and secure them.

This follows several changes that the UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Customs, and Ports Security (ICP) has declared in the last few weeks. Following the report by the Emirates News Agency last week, the ICP announced the implementation of 15 new packages of updates in the smart service system.

However, according to the travel agencies in the country, they are unable to apply for such visas in their systems. “As of now, only individuals applying on the system can get these visas,” said Afi Ahmed from Smart Travels. “The individuals must apply for it online on the GDRFA website, on the app, or through an Amer typing centre.”

On the General Directorate of Residency and Foreign Affairs, Dubai (GDRFA), visitors can apply for other visas, including entry permits for business or job opportunities, entry permits for those awaiting Green visas, and a patient escort permit, among other types.

During the UAE visa update, a resident of Dubai said he had applied for a visa for his mother to travel to the city. “Initially, I planned to apply for a 60-day visit visa through a travel agency,” he said. “But when I heard of the 90-day visa, I applied for it through an Amer centre. It was a very easy process.”

These series of updates to the visa system come as part of a plan to develop the services in line with the latest developments, including meeting the needs of customers and enhancing the ability of the authority and state to cross into the future. Patient and companion entry permits

Visas are also available for individuals travelling for medical tourism. Foreign patients can enter the UAE for medical treatment under the sponsorship of the medical establishment where they want to seek treatment.

The entry permit of the patient’s companion can be extended only once with the provision of a duly certified medical report stating that the patient needs to continue treatment and that his companion is needed in the UAE.

The Latest Updates Include:

  • Applicants from certain nationalities are exempt from the fingerprint requirement when applying for a passport issuance, renewal, or replacement.
  • The introduction of group family visas for treatment, tourism, and patient companionship, which are available in single and multiple entries for a period of 60 days and 180 days.
  • The system also includes the expansion of visa extension service with a 30-day extension for one-time holders of 90-day visas. However, this prohibits the renewal of residency visas that are valid for more than six months.
  • Extension of the visit visa of a friend or relative for single or multiple entries includes a period of 30, 60, and 90 days.
  • The updated smart service system provides cancellation and amendment services for visa data in the accounts of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) citizens without Emirates ID.

How To Secure The 90-Day Visa

To avail of this visa, go to the GDRFA website, the app, or through Amer Tying Centre. If you apply for a visa through the website, you can also apply for an entry permit for business or job opportunities and other visas. The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs, and Sports Security (ICP) announced that they had been implementing new packages for service improvement, and the list of such 15 services was updated and its services by the ICA on February 1, 2023, according to the procedures.

Finding Jobs in Visit Visas

If you have received a job offer while visiting the UAE, it is crucial to make sure all of your paperwork is in order. This is because it is a major labour law offence in the UAE to work without having the proper work permit.

In a post on its social media pages on January 12, 2022, Dubai Public Prosecution advised people that working without the required work permits would result in stern action, which may include three months in jail as well as a fine of up to AED 10,000.

"Every foreigner who entered the country under a visit visa and wished to work in the country must obtain a permit from the competent authority. If he fails to comply, he shall be penalized in accordance with imprisonment for a period not exceeding three months and a fine not exceeding AED 10,000, or one of these two penalties, and the court shall order the violator's deportation from the state," the prosecution's notice stated."

Where can I get a work permit from?

Your work permit will be issued by the appropriate government in accordance with whether you are employed by a private, public, or free-zone enterprise. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization (MOHRE) is responsible for issuing all work permits for the private sector, and each free zone is home to a regulatory body that oversees employment agreements and other labour-related matters. The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) is responsible for managing human resources for federal ministries and agencies that are governed by Federal Decree-Law No. 11 of 2008, whereas local government bodies are responsible for administering government departments within each emirate.

It is mandatory to make sure you have a current work permit when you begin employment with a company in the UAE, regardless of whatever jurisdiction you are employed in.

Apart from 90 days visa, UAE also has 30 and 60 days visas. You can see the price list of UAE visas below and compare rates between multiple and single-entry visas.

U.S. Citizens Will Need to Register and Pay a Fee to Enter Europe in 2024—Here’s What to Know

E ach year, American tourists flock to Europe to glimpse the Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, the Sistine Chapel and thousands of other must-see attractions. With so many landmarks to explore in Western Europe and beyond, it's no surprise the continent is a top destination for U.S. citizens. According to the consumer research company Statista, more than 10 million Americans made the trek to France , Italy , Spain and Germany in 2019 alone. But if you want to travel there after January 2024, you'll have to register and pay a fee. It's all thanks to the newly launched European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS).

The European Union's new system will add an extra step to your travel requirements for 30 European countries. But though it sounds complicated, the process won't be difficult. And we've got everything you need to know before you book your next European vacay.

Get  Reader’s Digest ’s  Read Up newsletter for more travel, humor, cleaning, tech and fun facts all week long.

What is ETIAS?

There's no such thing as an ETIAS visa, and the system isn't a digital nomad visa either. So what is it, then? According to the official website, ETIAS is the "new travel permit for Americans and other visa-exempt non-EU citizens visiting European destinations." It's an electronic travel authorization for visa-free countries, and it has a faster application and processing time than a visa.

In other words, U.S. citizens won't need a visa to continue traveling to Europe—but they must apply for ETIAS.

If you meet the ETIAS requirements, you won't need a visa if you're traveling for up to 90 days in any 180-day period for business, short-term study or tourism. If you currently hold a passport or will soon apply for a passport from one of 59 travel-visa-free countries and are between the ages of 18 and 70, you will need the new travel authorization for European travel within the Schengen area (a travel zone made up of 27 European countries).

Why are these European requirements changing?

The European Union is changing its requirements to include ETIAS to benefit both travelers and the European Union. When traveling overseas to Europe using ETIAS, you'll benefit from a more streamlined border crossing—the new travel authorization will get you through faster.

But the launch of the electronic authorization system aims to keep the European Union safer too. Better border management means officials can keep an eye on security issues at the borders. And because ETIAS links to security databases, it'll be easier to fight terrorism and criminal activity.

When will ETIAS go into effect?

The current launch date for ETIAS in Europe is sometime in January 2024. But that comes after some delays. The European Union initially intended ETIAS to go into effect in January 2021 but later postponed the kickoff to 2023. The quiet pushback of the launch date, following a series of hiccups, has led up to its slated release in 2024, but some sources note that it may take a while for it to go into effect.

Per the ETIAS website, "after the initial launch, there may be a short period of three to six months where ETIAS may not be mandatory for travel. This is to allow the EU to work through any system issues, which may negatively impact travelers due to complications with the initial rollout." Additionally, the site notes that this is "barring any delay in implementation," so it's unclear whether the 2024 launch date is set in stone.

Still, if you're planning a romantic European vacation and want to skip the new system, you'll have to travel soon.

What countries will require authorization?

Gearing up for some European country-hopping ? These 23 European countries in the Schengen area will require ETIAS authorization from American travelers:

  • Czech Republic
  • Netherlands

You will also need ETIAS for four non-EU member states:

  • Liechtenstein
  • Switzerland

Additionally, these non-Schengen EU states will require ETIAS:

Finally, these microstates will also require the new travel authorization:

  • Vatican City

What's the difference between ETIAS and EES?

The European Union is launching not only ETIAS but also a border-management strategy called the Entry/Exist System (EES). The first thing to know: ETIAS and EES are not the same thing.

For starters, ETIAS is a new entry requirement, while EES is a registration. When traveling visa free, you'll need to apply for ETIAS travel authorization, but you won't need to take any action before your trip for EES registration. Instead, this is done automatically at the external border of any of the 29 European countries using EES, and this registration will take place each time you cross an external border between countries. EES will also replace manual passport stamps.

How much does ETIAS cost?

Luckily, if you're traveling on a budget , the application fee for ETIAS won't break the bank—it's less than $10. Travelers will pay $8 for ETIAS (or €7).

How do you apply for ETIAS?

Applying for ETIAS online is a relatively simple process. You'll fill out the electronic form with personal information, such as your first and last name, nationality, place of birth, address, phone number and email. You'll also need to include your passport information , your travel plans and your history of travel, and you'll have to answer security-based questions. From there, you'll pay the fee and submit your application.

It's important to avoid scam websites pretending to be ETIAS. Make sure you apply on the official site using this application .

Overall, the application process should take about 10 minutes, while approval for your travel authorization will take 96 hours or fewer. You'll know your application has been approved when you receive an official confirmation email.

How long does an ETIAS authorization last?

Once you've received your ETIAS authorization, it will remain valid for three years from the issue date. You may use it to travel multiple times as long as your travel documents have not expired.

How often do you need to renew/reapply?

You will need to reapply for ETIAS when your previous travel permit has expired, which will happen three years after your application date. If your passport expires sooner, you will need to get a new passport and reapply for ETIAS.

The issuance of three-month visit visas in the UAE has been discontinued, Khaleej Times can reveal. A Federal Authority For Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) call centre executive said the three-month visas are no longer available.

The call centre executive informed, “The three-month entry permit was available a few months ago, but not anymore. Visitors to the UAE can come on a 30- or 60-day visa." The executive added, “Travel agencies can issue them".

Stay up to date with the latest news. Follow KT on WhatsApp Channels.

Travel agents confirmed the development to Khaleej Times. They said the option to request a three-month visit visa is unavailable on the portal they use to issue permits.

The three-month visit visa was discontinued during the Covid-19 pandemic, with a 60-day one introduced instead. However, the three-month scheme was made available again as a leisure visa in May.

In Dubai, the 90-day visa is being issued to visitors who are first-degree relatives of residents. A call centre executive at Amer confirmed this, saying residents can bring their parents or relatives on the three-month scheme.

Several agents have reported that the three-month visit visas have been temporarily suspended. “As per the information we have received, the issuance of long-term leisure visas has been stopped temporarily. The demand for this visa was slightly increasing due to the winter months ahead,” said Firoz Maliyakkal, founder and CEO of Tahira Tours and Travels.

Long-term visas:

Visitors have several options to enter the country and stay for an extended period.

Job exploration visa

The UAE offers a range of visa options for individuals seeking employment opportunities in the country. These visas enable holders to enter the UAE and search for work that aligns with their skills and expertise.

The job exploration visa is available in three options without requiring a guarantor or a host. According to the ICP website, the visa is available for 60, 90 and 120 days with a single-entry permit.

Fees for job exploration visa

The fee for a job exploration visa for 60 days is Dh200, for 90 days is Dh300, and the fee for 120 days is Dh400. The visitor will also have to provide a financial guarantee of a security deposit of Dh1,000.

This visa can be applied via digital channels like the official website or smart application of GDRFA and ICP. The service is also available at Amer centres in the country.

5-year multiple entry visa

The 5-year multiple-entry visa enables visitors to enter the UAE multiple times through self-sponsorship, allowing a 90-day stay during each visit. Visa holders can extend their stay for an additional 90 days without leaving the country. This visa facilitates families from abroad to spend extended periods with their loved ones in the UAE.

The Green Visa is issued for three categories: Investor/partner, high-level skilled worker and self-employment.

Applicants for the multiple entry visa must submit supporting documents, including a six-month bank statement.

People wanting to issue the Green visa can apply via digital channels (website/smart application), customer happiness centre or at Amer Service Centre with the required documents.

Search for investment opportunities visa (single entry):

The search for investment opportunities visa helps investors discover business opportunities and potentially find new partners or clients in the UAE and is available for 60,90 and 120 days.

This entry permit enables the issuance of a single-entry visa without requiring a guarantor or host. The visa can be applied on the official portal of ICP
