10 best last-minute travel websites

W ith spring in the air and summer just on the horizon, many will be starting the search for suitably affordable last-minute trips abroad.

But organising a holiday at short notice is often easier said than done, whether it’s a spontaneous couples’ getaway or last-minute break with friends and family. The excitement of researching a destination can quickly dissipate once the slog of trawling travel agent, airline and tour operator websites has begun. Comparing flights and accommodation costs on different days for different destinations can really feel like hard work, the antithesis of the fun holiday you’re hoping to book.

The good news is that, whether you want to jump across the Channel to see the Eiffel Tower or head long-haul to the beaches of Cancun, there are hundreds of online options to help you find the best deals for booking transport, places to stay and other extras.

Instead of spending hours on dozens of different websites, check out this list we’ve compiled of some of the best in the travel marketplace. You’ll save time on the research and money on the holiday too – what’s not to like?

Holiday Pirates

This travel deals site manually searches for the best holiday offers daily, finding a range of big discounts and emailing them to subscribers. At the moment you can book an eight-night tour of Turkey, staying in four and five-star hotels, for under £560pp. Other destinations with deals range from as close as Amsterdam to as far away as Mexico.

Jack’s Flight Club

Sign up – for free – to the club and get emailed the cheapest flights from the UK and Ireland including discounts, hidden offers and error fares – think UK to Brazil for £290. Many are last-minute deals, but remember, with prices like this it’s fastest finger first.

jacksflightclub.co.uk

Google Flights

As you’d expect from the algorithm masterminds, this site compares and tracks fares to find you the best deal. But it also has features for the last-minute traveller, such as an option to search for flights in any number of cities for a specific date – so you can see if it’s cheaper to go jet off to Athens or Oslo this weekend.

google.co.uk/flights

Hotel Tonight

This handy website offers last-minute deals if you need a place to stay tonight, tomorrow or within the next seven days. While some deals – especially in the US – are not so good, it can deliver deep discounts in Europe and the UK while also saving you time browsing the best deals.

hoteltonight.com

Kayak

On the “Explore” section of Kayak you can enter your trip length, travel time and dates and the site will come up with a range of options for you to choose from. The easy-to-use map feature is a great way to compare locations and prices for a last minute trip.

BA Holidays

No, it’s not a discount specialist, but BA Holidays – the package wing of British Airways – can offer deep discounts for last-minute trips, pairing unsold flight inventory with empty hotel rooms. In fact, the deals can be so good that a city break with hotel included can work out cheaper than the flights alone, and a week’s car hire in Europe can be close to free.

baholidays.com

With more than 30 million subscribers worldwide, Travelzoo features a host of deals ranging from trips abroad to activities such as spa visits, theatre ticket deals and cruises. A sign-up is required to see full details of deals, but it seems worth it for trips such as four nights and return flights to Ibiza for £149pp.

travelzoo.com

Secret Escapes

You’ll find discounts of up to 70 per cent at Secret Escapes, which follows a similar model to Voyage Privé , offering flash sales to registered members. It’s a great place to scout high-end discount holidays and the customer service of the site has been praised as excellent.

secretescapes.com

Best at Travel

This company’s central London call centre means someone is always on hand to help you out. It’s a “normal” tour operator but has a last-minute deals section on the website, which can offer good discounts on upmarket breaks. Deals at the time of writing included seven nights’ all-inclusive in Crete from £811pp including flights, departing on 15 April.

bestattravel.co.uk

Travel Republic

With about two million customers using the site to book holidays, Travel Republic is bound to have some good deals, and there’s a vast number to choose from, since it shifts flights, tickets for attractions and traditional package holidays. For its top destinations, such as a week self-catering in Corfu, you could find holidays for as little as £218pp . The site also features a lowest-price guarantee, should you spot a better offer for the same holiday elsewhere.

travelrepublic.co.uk

Perhaps the best known site on this list, Skyscanner currently claims to have over 100 million users per month. The site provides you the cheapest, fastest and ‘best’ option for flights. Available in over 30 languages and offering a quick comparison for flights, hotels and car hire, the chances are that you’ve used it before and will use it again.

Has anyone used this agent before Audley Travel ( http://audleytravel.com )?

I recently signed up for a holiday to South America and was a last minute addition to the tour of 7 of us. I am only sharing a triple room and for a 10 day tour to Rio, Bueno Aires and Iguazu Falls it is costing me £2850.

To top it all off it is actually only 9 full days not 10 as one of those days is flying back to the UK,

I realise I had a choice as to whether or not I agreed to go but due to recent stresses in my life I needed to get away and it was just a phone call to the agent to get this sorted. I guess I signed up stupidly not realising what terrible value for money it was, which is unlike me.

I was curious if anyone else found the same with Audley Travel?

Next time for sure, I will be organising myself and will never use these services again.

Thanks for reading.

Hello Ricky,

If you type Audley Travel into the search box just above your question, and from the drop-down menu choose "All Forums" that search will yield many forum topics over the years.

Sounds like you booked quickly because of stresses in your life, wanting to escape for a while. That's understandable. Travel companies put together package trips that may not be the best value. They are obviously in business to make money, so are often more expensive than trips you independently researched and booked yourself. I think they rely on people assuming they couldn't organise it all themselves, so go for the convenient option of a package trip. But when they start looking into the components of the trip they see it's not top quality or good value.

You have booked it, and probably can't cancel or you would face stiff penalties. Maybe just try and enjoy the trip, relax and explore South America. Getting away might be just what you need. Then for future travel get a package trip quote, then use tripadvisor and other resources to see if you could do it better and cheaper yourself.

Safe travels.

Audley Travel have been around for quite a number of years, so imagine they are doing something right. If I was spending that amount of money on a holiday I would certainly have done plenty of research BEFORE I booked. Travel companies ar businesses that need to make money. You may possibly been able do have booked the same trip yourself at a much cheaper price.

You had the choice to book or not to book.

Dear Mr Shome,

My name is Katy and I work for the web team at Audley. I hope you don’t mind me getting in touch, but I saw your comment and wanted to respond as soon as I could.

I have spoken to the team you have been dealing with and would like to reassure you that we have double checked your booking, but due to the last minute nature of adding you on to the trip, the cost of the air fares are now very high compared to when your family booked in January.

We would invite you to speak with your specialist again when you have more time to go through your itinerary before you travel.

Many thanks,

The above to me sounds like a plausible and fairly logical explanation.

As for the £1000-1500 you're "probably going to spend", that is mere speculation and comes across to me as considerably high average daily spend on food for just 9 days. What you choose to or choose not to spend on food, is beyond the control of the travel agent. The final figure you've arrived at of £4000+, is *not* what the agent is charging.

It is unfortunate that you had stresses in your life, but nobody can reasonably expect agents to discount prices based on such circumstances.

And you have a number of flights and accommodations that this will apply to.

It is also normal on a tour to have to forgo days of exploration to travel between places. When you have time to plan you can take this into consideration and make an informed decision but I'm guessing that you just wanted to go.

It is actually not excessively steep for the destination and what you will see. It will refect the last minute nature of the trip.

Go and have a great time, unwind and enjoy the beauty of the place. Good memories are priceless and you will have them always.

I appreciate it is last minute, however my family booked a while ago and they are all paying £2500 each! I am paying an extra £400 for the last minute nature but even if I booked a while ago, it is still costing £2450 per person for 9 days in South America.

Seems very steep to me.

Yes I realise that I had a choice whether or not to book, as I stated in my initial post.

Did you complain to the rep/agent at the time, so they could have had the opportunity to solve the problem whilst you were there?

Travel Itinerary For One Week in Moscow: The Best of Moscow!

I just got back from one week in Moscow. And, as you might have already guessed, it was a mind-boggling experience. It was not my first trip to the Russian capital. But I hardly ever got enough time to explore this sprawling city. Visiting places for business rarely leaves enough time for sightseeing. I think that if you’ve got one week in Russia, you can also consider splitting your time between its largest cities (i.e. Saint Petersburg ) to get the most out of your trip. Seven days will let you see the majority of the main sights and go beyond just scratching the surface. In this post, I’m going to share with you my idea of the perfect travel itinerary for one week in Moscow.

Moscow is perhaps both the business and cultural hub of Russia. There is a lot more to see here than just the Kremlin and Saint Basil’s Cathedral. Centuries-old churches with onion-shaped domes dotted around the city are in stark contrast with newly completed impressive skyscrapers of Moscow City dominating the skyline. I spent a lot of time thinking about my Moscow itinerary before I left. And this city lived up to all of my expectations.

7-day Moscow itinerary

Travel Itinerary For One Week in Moscow

Day 1 – red square and the kremlin.

Metro Station: Okhotny Ryad on Red Line.

No trip to Moscow would be complete without seeing its main attraction. The Red Square is just a stone’s throw away from several metro stations. It is home to some of the most impressive architectural masterpieces in the city. The first thing you’ll probably notice after entering it and passing vendors selling weird fur hats is the fairytale-like looking Saint Basil’s Cathedral. It was built to commemorate one of the major victories of Ivan the Terrible. I once spent 20 minutes gazing at it, trying to find the perfect angle to snap it. It was easier said than done because of the hordes of locals and tourists.

As you continue strolling around Red Square, there’s no way you can miss Gum. It was widely known as the main department store during the Soviet Era. Now this large (yet historic) shopping mall is filled with expensive boutiques, pricey eateries, etc. During my trip to Moscow, I was on a tight budget. So I only took a retro-style stroll in Gum to get a rare glimpse of a place where Soviet leaders used to grocery shop and buy their stuff. In case you want some modern shopping experience, head to the Okhotny Ryad Shopping Center with stores like New Yorker, Zara, and Adidas.

To continue this Moscow itinerary, next you may want to go inside the Kremlin walls. This is the center of Russian political power and the president’s official residence. If you’re planning to pay Kremlin a visit do your best to visit Ivan the Great Bell Tower as well. Go there as early as possible to avoid crowds and get an incredible bird’s-eye view. There are a couple of museums that are available during designated visiting hours. Make sure to book your ticket online and avoid lines.

Day 2 – Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, the Tretyakov Gallery, and the Arbat Street

Metro Station: Kropotkinskaya on Red Line

As soon as you start creating a Moscow itinerary for your second day, you’ll discover that there are plenty of metro stations that are much closer to certain sites. Depending on your route, take a closer look at the metro map to pick the closest.

The white marble walls of Christ the Saviour Cathedral are awe-inspiring. As you approach this tallest Orthodox Christian church, you may notice the bronze sculptures, magnificent arches, and cupolas that were created to commemorate Russia’s victory against Napoleon.

travel itinerary for one week in Moscow

How to Get a Decent Haircut in a Foreign Country

Unfortunately, the current Cathedral is a replica, since original was blown to bits in 1931 by the Soviet government. The new cathedral basically follows the original design, but they have added some new elements such as marble high reliefs.

Home to some precious collection of artworks, in Tretyakov Gallery you can find more than 150,000 of works spanning centuries of artistic endeavor. Originally a privately owned gallery, it now has become one of the largest museums in Russia. The Gallery is often considered essential to visit. But I have encountered a lot of locals who have never been there.

Famous for its souvenirs, musicians, and theaters, Arbat street is among the few in Moscow that were turned into pedestrian zones. Arbat street is usually very busy with tourists and locals alike. My local friend once called it the oldest street in Moscow dating back to 1493. It is a kilometer long walking street filled with fancy gift shops, small cozy restaurants, lots of cute cafes, and street artists. It is closed to any vehicular traffic, so you can easily stroll it with kids.

Day 3 – Moscow River Boat Ride, Poklonnaya Hill Victory Park, the Moscow City

Metro Station: Kievskaya and Park Pobedy on Dark Blue Line / Vystavochnaya on Light Blue Line

Voyaging along the Moscow River is definitely one of the best ways to catch a glimpse of the city and see the attractions from a bit different perspective. Depending on your Moscow itinerary, travel budget and the time of the year, there are various types of boats available. In the summer there is no shortage of boats, and you’ll be spoiled for choice.

exploring Moscow

Travel Itinerary for One Week in Beijing

If you find yourself in Moscow during the winter months, I’d recommend going with Radisson boat cruise. These are often more expensive (yet comfy). They offer refreshments like tea, coffee, hot chocolate, and, of course, alcoholic drinks. Prices may vary but mostly depend on your food and drink selection. Find their main pier near the opulent Ukraine hotel . The hotel is one of the “Seven Sisters”, so if you’re into the charm of Stalinist architecture don’t miss a chance to stay there.

The area near Poklonnaya Hill has the closest relation to the country’s recent past. The memorial complex was completed in the mid-1990s to commemorate the Victory and WW2 casualties. Also known as the Great Patriotic War Museum, activities here include indoor attractions while the grounds around host an open-air museum with old tanks and other vehicles used on the battlefield.

How I Planned My Trip to Vietnam

The hallmark of the memorial complex and the first thing you see as you exit metro is the statue of Nike mounted to its column. This is a very impressive Obelisk with a statue of Saint George slaying the dragon at its base.

Maybe not as impressive as Shanghai’s Oriental Pearl Tower , the skyscrapers of the Moscow City (otherwise known as Moscow International Business Center) are so drastically different from dull Soviet architecture. With 239 meters and 60 floors, the Empire Tower is the seventh highest building in the business district.

The observation deck occupies 56 floor from where you have some panoramic views of the city. I loved the view in the direction of Moscow State University and Luzhniki stadium as well to the other side with residential quarters. The entrance fee is pricey, but if you’re want to get a bird’s eye view, the skyscraper is one of the best places for doing just that.

Day 4 – VDNKh, Worker and Collective Farm Woman Monument, The Ostankino TV Tower

Metro Station: VDNKh on Orange Line

VDNKh is one of my favorite attractions in Moscow. The weird abbreviation actually stands for Russian vystavka dostizheniy narodnogo khozyaystva (Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy). With more than 200 buildings and 30 pavilions on the grounds, VDNKh serves as an open-air museum. You can easily spend a full day here since the park occupies a very large area.

Moscow sights

Places to Visit in Barcelona That Aren’t Beaches

First, there are pavilions that used to showcase different cultures the USSR was made of. Additionally, there is a number of shopping pavilions, as well as Moskvarium (an Oceanarium) that features a variety of marine species. VDNKh is a popular venue for events and fairs. There is always something going on, so I’d recommend checking their website if you want to see some particular exhibition.

A stone’s throw away from VDNKh there is a very distinctive 25-meters high monument. Originally built in 1937 for the world fair in Paris, the hulking figures of men and women holding a hammer and a sickle represent the Soviet idea of united workers and farmers. It doesn’t take much time to see the monument, but visiting it gives some idea of the Soviet Union’s grandiose aspirations.

I have a thing for tall buildings. So to continue my travel itinerary for one week in Moscow I decided to climb the fourth highest TV tower in the world. This iconic 540m tower is a fixture of the skyline. You can see it virtually from everywhere in Moscow, and this is where you can get the best panoramic views (yep, even better than Empire skyscraper).

top things to do in Moscow

Parts of the floor are made of tempered glass, so it can be quite scary to exit the elevator. But trust me, as you start observing buildings and cars below, you won’t want to leave. There is only a limited number of tickets per day, so you may want to book online. Insider tip: the first tour is cheaper, you can save up to $10 if go there early.

Day 5 – A Tour To Moscow Manor Houses

Metro Station: Kolomenskoye, Tsaritsyno on Dark Green Line / Kuskovo on Purple Line

I love visiting the manor houses and palaces in Moscow. These opulent buildings were generally built to house Russian aristocratic families and monarchs. Houses tend to be rather grand affairs with impressive architecture. And, depending on the whims of the owners, some form of a landscaped garden.

During the early part of the 20th century though, many of Russia’s aristocratic families (including the family of the last emperor) ended up being killed or moving abroad . Their manor houses were nationalized. Some time later (after the fall of the USSR) these were open to the public. It means that today a great many of Moscow’s finest manor houses and palaces are open for touring.

one week Moscow itinerary

20 Travel Tips I’ve Learned From Travelling The World

There are 20 manor houses scattered throughout the city and more than 25 in the area around. But not all of them easily accessible and exploring them often takes a lot of time. I’d recommend focusing on three most popular estates in Moscow that are some 30-minute metro ride away from Kremlin.

Sandwiched between the Moscow River and the Andropov Avenue, Kolomenskoye is a UNESCO site that became a public park in the 1920’s. Once a former royal estate, now it is one of the most tranquil parks in the city with gorgeous views. The Ascension Church, The White Column, and the grounds are a truly grand place to visit.

You could easily spend a full day here, exploring a traditional Russian village (that is, in fact, a market), picnicking by the river, enjoying the Eastern Orthodox church architecture, hiking the grounds as well as and wandering the park and gardens with wildflower meadows, apple orchards, and birch and maple groves. The estate museum showcases Russian nature at its finest year-round.

12 Stunning National Parks and Regional Parks In France

If my travel itinerary for one week in Moscow was a family tree, Tsaritsyno Park would probably be the crazy uncle that no-one talks about. It’s a large park in the south of the city of mind-boggling proportions, unbelievable in so many ways, and yet most travelers have never heard of it.

The palace was supposed to be a summer home for Empress Catherine the Great. But since the construction didn’t meet with her approval the palace was abandoned. Since the early 1990’s the palace, the pond, and the grounds have been undergoing renovations. The entire complex is now looking brighter and more elaborately decorated than at possibly any other time during its history. Like most parks in Moscow, you can visit Tsaritsyno free of charge, but there is a small fee if you want to visit the palace.

Moscow itinerary

How To Stop Procrastinating When Trip Planning

Last, but by no means least on my Moscow itinerary is Kuskovo Park . This is definitely an off-the-beaten-path place. While it is not easily accessible, you will be rewarded with a lack of crowds. This 18th-century summer country house of the Sheremetev family was one of the first summer country estates of the Russian nobility. And when you visit you’ll quickly realize why locals love this park.

Like many other estates, Kuskovo has just been renovated. So there are lovely French formal garden, a grotto, and the Dutch house to explore. Make sure to plan your itinerary well because the estate is some way from a metro station.

Day 6 – Explore the Golden Ring

Creating the Moscow itinerary may keep you busy for days with the seemingly endless amount of things to do. Visiting the so-called Golden Ring is like stepping back in time. Golden Ring is a “theme route” devised by promotion-minded journalist and writer Yuri Bychkov.

Having started in Moscow the route will take you through a number of historical cities. It now includes Suzdal, Vladimir, Kostroma, Yaroslavl and Sergiev Posad. All these awe-inspiring towns have their own smaller kremlins and feature dramatic churches with onion-shaped domes, tranquil residential areas, and other architectural landmarks.

Two Weeks In Thailand: The Perfect 14-Day Itinerary

I only visited two out of eight cities included on the route. It is a no-brainer that Sergiev Posad is the nearest and the easiest city to see on a day trip from Moscow. That being said, you can explore its main attractions in just one day. Located some 70 km north-east of the Russian capital, this tiny and overlooked town is home to Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, UNESCO Site.

things to do in Moscow in seven days

You Will Also Like: 3-Day London Itinerary

Sergiev Posad is often described as being at the heart of Russian spiritual life. So it is uncommon to see the crowds of Russian pilgrims showing a deep reverence for their religion. If you’re traveling independently and using public transport, you can reach Sergiev Posad by bus (departs from VDNKh) or by suburban commuter train from Yaroslavskaya Railway Station (Bahnhof). It takes about one and a half hours to reach the town.

Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius is a great place to get a glimpse of filling and warming Russian lunch, specifically at the “ Gostevaya Izba ” restaurant. Try the duck breast, hearty potato and vegetables, and the awesome Napoleon cake.

Day 7 – Gorky Park, Izmailovo Kremlin, Patriarch’s Ponds

Metro Station: Park Kultury or Oktyabrskaya on Circle Line / Partizanskaya on Dark Blue Line / Pushkinskaya on Dark Green Line

Gorky Park is in the heart of Moscow. It offers many different types of outdoor activities, such as dancing, cycling, skateboarding, walking, jogging, and anything else you can do in a park. Named after Maxim Gorky, this sprawling and lovely park is where locals go on a picnic, relax and enjoy free yoga classes. It’s a popular place to bike around, and there is a Muzeon Art Park not far from here. A dynamic location with a younger vibe. There is also a pier, so you can take a cruise along the river too.

Random Russian guy

How to Save Money While Traveling in Europe

The Kremlin in Izmailovo is by no means like the one you can find near the Red Square. Originally built for decorative purposes, it now features the Vernissage flea market and a number of frequent fairs, exhibitions, and conferences. Every weekend, there’s a giant flea market in Izmailovo, where dozens of stalls sell Soviet propaganda crap, Russian nesting dolls, vinyl records, jewelry and just about any object you can imagine. Go early in the morning if you want to beat the crowds.

All the Bulgakov’s fans should pay a visit to Patriarch’s Ponds (yup, that is plural). With a lovely small city park and the only one (!) pond in the middle, the location is where the opening scene of Bulgakov’s novel Master and Margarita was set. The novel is centered around a visit by Devil to the atheistic Soviet Union is considered by many critics to be one of the best novels of the 20th century. I spent great two hours strolling the nearby streets and having lunch in the hipster cafe.

Conclusion and Recommendations

To conclude, Moscow is a safe city to visit. I have never had a problem with getting around and most locals are really friendly once they know you’re a foreigner. Moscow has undergone some serious reconstruction over the last few years. So you can expect some places to be completely different. I hope my one week Moscow itinerary was helpful! If you have less time, say 4 days or 5 days, I would cut out day 6 and day 7. You could save the Golden Ring for a separate trip entirely as there’s lots to see!

South Africa with teenagers

Robyn came up with a great itinerary for our Cape Town, garden route and safari brief. Being from South Africa and studying in Cape Town meant that she had lots of great ideas, especially for doing things that would keep the interest of our 16 and 14 year old. She had done most of the trip as a teenager herself so the advice was all spot on. Can highly recommend Audley and Robyn, it made the planning and travel super easy for us so we could just enjoy it!

Family Adventure in Vietnam

When we knew we had the opportunity to catch up with our daughter on her travels round the Far East, Audley helped us create the most amazing two week adventure in Vietnam. Dom helped us explore options and created an itinerary that met exactly what we were hoping for. Vietnam was the most amazing destination, and Audley ensured we were looked after at every stage.

Vietnam Honeymoon

Having not used a tour provider before, we chose to treat ourselves for our honeymoon. Off the back of some recommendations and good online reviews we opted with Audley. The initial process was incredible easy, we set up a call with Christian almost immediately. Within a week we had a draft itinerary in place. Following a couple more short calls it was fully booked. The whole experience was unbelievably easy and throughout it all Christian was friendly, funny and helpful. We were very happy with the whole booking experience and then when we got out to Vietnam it got even better. The hotels, guides and excursions were all fantastic. Everything was organised for us and the guides were all incredibly helpful. Which meant throughout the whole trip we could just relax and enjoy it, despite moving around to several different cities and hotels. It's a trip we'll remember for a long time and for that we couldn't thank Christian and the rest of the Audley team enough.

Wonderful 10* service and support

The best travel service in the world! Not only did they plan our trip with great attention to detail, providing a lot of extra valuable travel advice and tips, they really showed their expertise when things went wrong. When my husband was rushed into hospital while away, their wonderful team were there supporting and advising me every step of the way. They continued to keep in touch and help me on our repatriation to the UK in a way that shows a level of customer care beyond anything we have ever experienced before. Words cannot adequately express our gratitude. We would never use any other travel agency in the future. They are simply brilliant!

Date of experience : 24 February 2024

Hi Clare, Thank you for taking the time to leave this lovely review. We are so sorry to hear about your husband and hope he is making a speedy recovery. Paris&London, Mother&Son and a Trip Never Forgotten

Many 5-star reviews over promise and under-deliver. Mine, hopefully will not. From end-to-end our entire experience was positive. Our planner, Lily, was knowledgeable, understanding and creative. She tailored this trip to meet the needs of my mother with walking/stair climbing limitations. This was a life-long dream for my Mom to step foot on the European continent and visit Paris/London. We were worried she would not be able to due to her heart/health issues. However with proper planning, preparation and budgeting for taxis, Uber's and Audley's private drivers the trip was a resounding success. The hotel accommodations met and exceeded expectations, the tour guides were phenomenal (and future pen-pals), and the time saved dealing with 30+ reservations, itineraries, etc. was worth the money spent on our program; remember you're paying for peace of mind and that is what Audley delivered. So, take a chance. Save up the money and plan that dream vacation, photos and souvenirs cannot replace the memories we created in this trip. You never know how much time you have to take a vacation like this, and while pricey, the value will return back to you and then some. It already has for me. Well Done!

Date of experience : 30 March 2024

Hi Cory, Thank you for sharing these kind words about your experience working with Lily on planning your trip to Europe. We could not be more pleased to hear that Lily was understanding of your mom's medical concerns and that she took the time to tailor an accessible trip, allowing your mom to fulfil a lifelong dream of visiting Paris and London! We have shared your kind words not only with Lily and her manager, but with the entirety of the US office. We are so glad that we could help you both make these lasting memories, and we look forward to working with you on your next travel adventure! Best wishes, Audley Travel USA

Southafrica !

Southafrica ! We booked a 3 week trip to Cape Town, garden route, winelands and safari, all tailor made to our needs as a family. The service with Audley travel was immaculate from start to finish and we had an amazing experience. We would book at any time again with Audley, as they have not only great experts in the team ( Andy who is the travel expert for Southafrica), but also outstanding service throughout!

Our trip to Thailand "the land of smiles" was fabulous

Our Thailand trip was fabulous. With expert guidance from Saskia at Audley we visited golden temples, ancient ruins, vibrant markets (even one on a railway line!) and a variety of stunning landscapes. The smell and taste of Thai street food and fruit beyond imagination. The music of the rainforest- gibbons, birds and cicadas calling. The serenity of the hill tribe people. The poignant Burma Railway sites and the most beautiful cemetery. Fantastic tea tasting. Getting up close and personal with gorgeous elephants. Staying in a lovely selection of boutique hotels. I unhesitatingly recommend visiting "the land of smiles" Thailand with Audley to tailor the trip to your individual needs.

Date of experience : 14 April 2024

Dear Customer, Thank you for taking the time to leave this lovely review. Your trip to Thailand sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime adventure and we are so pleased we could assist you in experiencing all these amazing adventures! It is wonderful to hear how customised the itinerary was to you, making the trip that extra bit more special. We will pass your kind words onto Saskia and the team, and look forward to planning many more wonderful trips with you in the future! Many thanks, Audley Travel UK

I can't fault Audley…

This is the 2nd time we have used Audley Travel as we were so impressed with how they planned our first holiday with them. Charlotte was our specialist for our latest Borneo trip and planned the most fantastic trip for us. Everything ran seamlessly from start to finish. I have other friends that have used Audley Travel and they also have had excellent experiences with them.

Hi Sally, Thank you for taking the time to leave this wonderful review! It is so great to hear what an incredible trip you had to Borneo. We are so pleased that everything ran smoothly and you are so impressed with the service you received from Audley start to finish. We will pass your kind words onto Charlotte and the team. Very poor customer service

Booked to go to Japan many months ahead and very excited. Unfortunately our specialist rep left and her replacement was not very efficient. She promised things, calls that never materialised. I booked with them because I suffer from anxiety and wanted all the stress taken away. Her inefficiency left me stressed before we left. We missed our flight connection due to late departure and we were abandoned. No help during a weekend. Lost paid for trips and tickets as no rep. would rearrange to meet us. Now trying to claim compensation and constant stalling. Yet again booked phone calls not received. Japan is wonderful by the way but not the experience I was expecting from Audley.

Date of experience : 21 March 2024

Dear Julie, We were deeply saddened to learn about the challenges you faced during your trip to Japan. Your feedback is incredibly important to us, and we are committed to addressing your concerns and providing the necessary support. To assist us in better understanding your situation, could you please send us an email with your contact and trip details to [email protected] We are dedicated to resolving this matter promptly and ensuring that you feel supported every step of the way. Your experience does not align with the high standards we strive to maintain at Audley Travel, and we genuinely regret any disappointment you may have experienced. We eagerly anticipate receiving your email and working towards a positive resolution. Kind Regards, Audley Travel

Fabulous trip to Mexico

I had a wonderful itinerary put together for me by Phoebe, the Mexico specialist, only 3 weeks before flying off. Phoebe and Audely were increcibly can-do, pro-active and up-front about what they could achieve last-minute and given I was going away peak season. The trip ended up being more epxensive than I had anticipated, but the trips, hotels and service that I got made it all worthwhile. And when I got ill during the holiday I was in constant contact with their local operating partner who were incredibly resposive and helpful I thoroughly recommend!

Date of experience : 31 March 2024

Dear Paul, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this lovely review. We are so pleased to hear how well organised your holiday was, and how personal you felt the itinerary was, especially considering it was last minute. We are sorry to hear you fell ill during the holiday and hope you are better now, but it is wonderful that the ground team was responsive and took great care of you. We will pass these kind words onto Phoebe and the ground team. We hope to plan many more adventures together soon! Many thanks, Audley Travel UK

New Zealand Trip of a Lifetime…

The New Zealand trip had been on our agenda pre Covid and we used Audley to help plan our self drive itinerary. Our agent, Amy, listened and understood what we were looking for and offered knowledgeable advice based on her personal experience. She came up with a planned route which pretty much perfectly matched our brief. The support information pre-visit and during the trip was excellent, taking away any anxiety about where we were headed next. Fabulous service and fabulous holiday.

Trip of a lifetime

Audley helped us to organise the trip of a lifetime - 3 months visiting Singapore, Cambodia, Vietnam, New Zealand and the South West USA. All 3 country specialists we dealt with, our lead consultant Amy for NZ, Anna for SE Asia and Shannon for the USA were so helpful in making suggestions of places to visit we hadn’t thought of, coming up with an outline itinerary within our budget and tweaking things over the course of several lengthy calls so we ended up with the perfect trip. We had the most amazing holiday, logistically everything went incredibly smoothly and the quality of the places we stayed in and the guides who assisted us were evidence of Audley’s attention to detail. We highly recommend Audley and will certainly be using them again ourselves - we already have one or two ideas!

Date of experience : 10 April 2024

Hi Kate, Thank you for taking the time to leave this wonderful review. It sounds like you had the most amazing 3 months getting to explore half the world! We hope to plan many more exciting trips-of-a-lifetime with you! Many thanks, Audley Travel UK

Audley gave a us a life changing experience!

My mother and I (a female 24 year old) had an amazing 2 week holiday with Audley Travel. Brigitte at Audley Travel helped us to create an experience that worked for our interests, our budget and our time-frame. We had a life-changing trip through Jordan and Egypt including an unforgettable jeep tour of the Wadi Rum desert, a private tour of Petra, a luxury cruise along the Nile, a guided tour of the Pyramids and so much more!

Date of experience : 25 February 2024

Dear Satisfied Customer, We are so pleased to hear about your recent trip to New Zealand. It must have been so lovely to finally tick it off the pre-Covid bucket list! We are so pleased that you felt so listened to by Amy and you felt the itinerary was perfectly customised to what you wanted! We will be sure to pass these kind words about the support provided to Amy and the team! We look forward to planning many more special trips with you in the future! Many thanks, Audley Travel UK

We are so pleased to hear that everything ran so smoothly, and the itinerary was perfectly suited to your needs and budget. We will pass your kind words on to Amy, Anna and Shannon. We hope to plan many more exciting trips-of-a-lifetime with you! Many thanks, Audley Travel UK

Three perfect trips with Audley

This latest trip to Vietnam was the third time that we have used Audley Travel. In all three occasions we were listened to, so that they could try to put together a holiday that suited us. They were always quick to respond to any issues that cropped up during our holidays one one occasion they even phoned us in China! This company is not the cheapest but they are in our opinion the best that we have found and we will not hesitate in using them again for a great travel experience.

Fantastic tour of New Zealand

Just back from a fantastic tour of New Zealand, which was organised by Audley Travel. The trip ran very smoothly, although we stayed at a lot of different venues. All the excursions organised by the company were great and we had a brilliant time. We would thoroughly recommend using Audley for this type of trip as their agents have an extensive knowledge of the country and the different places we stayed and experiences that we did.

Every element worked smoothly and we were treated like queens throughout. We want to thank everyone at Audley Travel for this experience - we had an unforgettable holiday and felt we were in safe hands throughout the trip.

Top Class Tailored Travel Service

Just back from an amazing 6 week adventure to South America organised by Audley Travel. I visited 5 countries and all arrangements worked like clockwork! My travel consultant, Nick, was fantastic- he really listened to what I was interested in doing and then developed an unbelievable itinerary! Snorkelling with dolphins around the Galápagos Islands, trekking the Uyuni Salt Flats, enjoying a carnival in La Paz and taking in the majesty of the Iguassu Waterfalls were just some of the highlights! I would highly recommend Audley for a professional, personal and friendly service! Thanks for providing lifelong memories for me!

South Africa - We have just returned from our 2nd…

We have just returned from our 2nd Audley trip ro South Africa. I was confident everything would go well as Kirsty had organised our first trip in 2019 perfectly. Yet again, it was wonderful- thank you Kirsty! The Panorama Route followed by safari at Thornybush Reserve was a fantastic experience and we were certainly looked after very well throughout the holiday. We don't know where our next trip will be but it will definitely be Audley we ask to arrange it

Peru and Galapagos

We have just returned from a trip to Peru and Equador organised by Caroline from Audley UK. The holiday was absolutely fantastic, probably our best ever. The itinerary was logistically quite complex as we wanted to fit in as much as possible. From start to finish everything ran like clockwork and the service of the local agencies used for guides and drivers was top notch. The attention to detail from Caroline meant that we had no worries about anything, we could just concentrate on having a great time. This is the second time we have used Audley (South Africa being the first) and would certainly recommend.

New England Tour

We arrived back this week from our trip to new England organised by Shannon of Audley Travel. What a fabulous experience. Everything went smoothly, Audley had organised flight, hotels, car hire, trips and train journey. Nothing was too much trouble and they were there to answer questions every step of the way. Everything was tailored to our needs and it was easy to just turn up at each place knowing that everything was in place. The information sent prior to the trip was second to none with every detail thought of........routes for travel between places, recommendations of things to do and places to eat. Thank you so much Audley Travel.

What is Audley's added value?

We have been on two significant holidays to South East Asia arranged by Audley with total spend of c£70,000. In both cases there were material shortfalls in the quality of advice that Audley offered. Specifically we were given incorrect advice about the Covid regime, one hotel recommendation showed that Audley really are not up to date with the current situation and generally communications were poor. One pays a premium to book through Audley and for that I expect good advice and excellent communications. They really added no value beyond what I could have achieved by booking direct. I would put this all down to experience but Audley have specifically asked us for feedback which we have given, but they really don't listen. Not looking for anything tangible other than an acknowledgement that their service was sub standard. We would never use them again (we have used other, cheaper and better agents) and would advise others to be certain of their true added value before committing to them.

Date of experience : April 23, 2023

Dear Peter, We're sorry to learn that you feel you were given incorrect advice and that you felt there was no advantage in booking directly with us. We are amending our response since our client service team has since contacted you and apologised for the unacceptable service you experienced from us on this occasion. We sincerely appreciate the time you took to share your experience, as we can use it to improve in the future. Please do not hesitate to contact us again if you would like to discuss anything more, or if you wish to enquire with us in the future, and we will make sure you are well taken care of. Bait and Switch

I was interested in wildlife centered drive and stay trip in Tasmania for myself and grandson. Your web site quoted a 10 day trip f0r $3270.00. I was contacted by a young lady from Boston and after a little discussion she said the minimal charge pp was $10,000.00-Now that is a huge jump regardless of time of year, etc. There is no way I would trust this company for any trip

Date of experience : June 13, 2023

Hi Chas Thank you for reaching out us and providing us with your feedback. We are deeply sorry to hear about your experience, and we regret that it has dented your faith in Audley. As you will understand, the website quote is an indicative price of the itinerary outline displayed online. We recognize that this is a significant price increase and have informed our Commercial team to investigate further as a matter of urgency. In an effort to learn more about your experience, a member of our Client Experience team has attempted to make contact with you. If you would like to get in touch with us again, please do not hesitate to do so. We would greatly appreciate the chance to earn back your trust in Audley. Best regards Audley Travel USA

Magical Adventure in Greece!

We just returned from a fabulous two weeks in Greece, studying Ancient Greek cultures and soaking up the sun on several Greek islands. We spent time in Athens, Delphi, Nafplio (with trips to Corinth, Epidavros and Mycenae), Hydra and Santorini! Everything went so smoothly … the tour guides were so knowledgeable and fun! Jeff Procopio of Audley Travel was wonderful to work with. He really understood our goals for the trip and helped make them all happen. We are so grateful to Jeff for all of his efforts!

Overall good - Cuts corners

Overall good itinerary… all of the highlights covered. Details are often lacking — No driver from here or there. Unable to complete tours where cane user was clearly stated up front. Ie 2000 steps not accommodated for where there are stated needs. Drivers late or with multiple pickups at same time. Waited 40 min for a Driver who we saw pick up another client at our hotel at the time of our pickup. So we show up 40 min late to an organized dinner. Tours somewhat rushed and tour guides were time watchers. One told us to get a taxi or walk because her time was finished. No trip back was arranged. Not really an issue usually but a 30-40 min walk with a cane user when told in advance and after a full day of walking was not really that fun. Should have been a driver there waiting. At a wine dinner we showed up 40 min late due to over extended schedule and later when “arranged” taxi was called at 1030 pm — there was no taxi. Waited 30 min and then just walked back to hotel at 11pm - 25 min. Totally unacceptable for the price of these trips. If tui italia can’t get it done they need to find other local organizations. But overall had a great time and saw the highlights described. Would def return to the destination but would probably not use this travel agent. Too many shortcuts to save a few dollars when the price of the vacations are $$$$.

Hi Bradley We regret hearing about your time in Italy because, as you will agree, it fell short of the exceptional level that Audley is known for. Even though many wonderful memories were created, this undoubtedly fell short of your expectations of us. Our client experience team has since contacted you and apologized for the poor service you received from us on this occasion, so we have amended our response. We sincerely appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us so that we may learn from it make the necessary improvements for the future.  In the future, if you have any questions or would like to discuss anything further, don't hesitate to get in touch with us. We'll make sure you are well taken care of.  Best regards Audley Travel USA

Amazing trip to Galapagos & Ecuador

Simply amazing trip to Ecuador & Galapagos excellently organised by South American specialist Lauren. Much delayed due to Covid but we used this time to fine tune my requirements which resulted in a trip that far exceeded my expectations. I felt Lauren was immediately in tune with me as an individual and the trip was built around three weeks free time when I undertook some conservation volunteering. My itinerary included an island-hopping cruise on Solaris, a night under canvas in the highlands of Santa Cruz, a stay at a gorgeous small hotel in Quito & finished with a three night stay at the amazing Mashpi Lodge in the Cloud Forest. As a solo traveller I felt supported at all times with responsive & personable local contacts & reliable transport arrangements. I’m not quite sure how I’ll top this trip but my first port of call when I’ve decided will be Audley. Lauren’s inciteful knowledge of the destination hugely contributed to the success of my trip.

Date of experience : April 01, 2023

Hi Sue Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience! We are thrilled to hear how well Lauren and the team looked after you, and we sincerely appreciate your support for Audley throughout Covid - it sounds like it was well worth the wait! Travelling alone can be daunting, and we appreciate how well our partners looked after you from start to finish; we are certain you made memories to last a lifetime. We look forward to working with you again on your next Audley adventure and will make sure Lauren, her leadership teams, and our international partners receive your kind comments too. Audley- thanks for the perfect trip to Italy!

California Road trip

Excellent holiday, meeting our requirements for a road trip and visiting US relatives. All the organisation done by Ewan Petrie at Audley Travel was above and beyond to meet our requirements. All arrangements went without a hitch.

Adam was our Country Specialist for our recent Trip to Japan. I sent him this letter of thanks: We wanted to let you know that the trip exceeded expectations. We appreciated, connected and enjoyed each of our guides as unique people who shared their cities and culture with us. The couple of snafus were handled competently- the missing bus passes, train schedules that still were not quite right all fixed with the help of our Orientation guide! Dana was a great last guide- giving us Insight into religious practices, culture and living in modern Japan. The accommodations were fantastic, we felt spoiled by the attention. Our experiences with the people of Japan were wonderful. The random people we met were friendly and helpful - the Japanese businessman who led us to our train to make sure we got on the right one when we were a bit confused by the Tokyo train system early on...comes to mind, our language barrier was forgiven. Occasionally the google translator was called into service, and google maps was a godsend! Each of our interactions with local folks turned into a story and adventure, such as the restaurant owner who wants to be a football player for Atlanta! We took over 1200 pictures most are breathtaking. I am having trouble trimming things down for a slide show to share with family and friends that won't last an hour or more! I will include just a few here with our thanks for putting together an experience that we both truly enjoyed and will remember! Arigato, thank you! Sharon & Rick

Date of experience : May 11, 2023

Dear Sharon and Rick Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback. We are delighted to hear that your trip exceeded your expectations and that you were able to immerse yourself in Japanese culture. From the first contact until the end of my holiday the Audley representative Kirsty listened to my requirements and planned an amazing holiday for me. The trip was efficiently planned and communicated to me. All the arrangements were seamless with no glitches. One change I requested when I was away was dealt wit without any fuss. What stars Audley are

Having just come back from our Africa trip organised by James Down, I can’t praise him enough. He knew what we wanted which was provided in bucket loads. All locations and accommodation including the staff therein, were brilliant. The icing on the cake however, came when our long haul flight was cancelled with only hours to spare. An hour after emailing James, who was going on holiday that day, we had overnight accommodation organised, how to get there and what to do when there. When you’re a long way from home and something like happens, Audley will sort it. No problem. Thankyou.

Date of experience : May 28, 2023

Dear Lee, Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback on your recent Africa trip. We are thrilled to hear that James was able to understand your needs and provide you with an incredible journey. We are delighted to hear that you were assisted promptly when your flight was cancelled. It is our commitment to provide immediate support and assistance to our clients, even in challenging situations. At Audley, we believe in going above and beyond to ensure our clients have a seamless and enjoyable travel experience. Your kind words are a true testament to the dedication and professionalism of our team. Once again, we sincerely appreciate your feedback and we hope you able to assist you again for your next adventure. Best Wishes, Audley Travel

Japan , our holiday of a lifetime

We used Audley travel to organise and arrange our holiday to Japan. I am usually confident in organising holidays but felt Japan was a bit too much to manage. I am so glad we used Audley, they took on board what we wanted to see and do as well as giving suggestions. It was meticulously planned, the itinerary was very comprehensive. Tips were given to help our holiday eg regarding train carriage information written on the floor etc. Audley took into account our budget. They booked mid range hotels that were fabulous and close to train networks for ease of travel. I cannot think of one criticism at all. The G7 summit threw up some last minute problems with our booking which Jo dealt with on our behalf , she fully consulted us throughout. Audley ensured we had the most amazing holiday. I have no hesitation in recommending them based on my personal experience and would definitely use them again if I were to have another long distance holiday.

Dear customer, Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful review of your Japan holiday organise by Jo. We're delighted to hear that we were able to provide you with an exceptional experience. It's fantastic that our team listened to your preferences and interests while also providing valuable suggestions. We take pride in meticulously planning itineraries that cover all the highlights and ensure a comprehensive experience for our clients. Thank you so much for recommending us. We look forward to helping you arrange another holiday when you wish to travel again. Best Wishes, Audley Travel

Brilliant comminication throughout

Our Audley contact was really good. He understand the trip we were wanting in California and provided a first draft promptly. This was amended a couple of times with no problem. The communication with him was excellent and though I emailed lots of questions, these were constantly dealt with quickly and professionally. The advice and support we received was faultless and greatly appreciated. It was good to have our final itinerary both electronically and in a folder, we used both quite extensively whilst we were away. The accommodation booked for us was lovely and we checked in to all venues without any problems. Our trip was a huge success and will be remembered for ever. I had used Audley before several years ago for a New Zealand trip and was very glad I returned to them for this trip.

Its great to hear that the service you received from your specialist was excellent and that they understood everything you wanted from your trip.
