"Cruise Control" is an unreleased song recorded by Big Time Rush . It was written by Dan "Tekneek" Wayne, Cody Williams, Charley Greenberg, and Cory Gaddis, and produced by Wes Jones and Matthew Sherman. [1] [2] BTR recorded the song in January 2011, [3] [4] during very early sessions for their second studio album, Elevate . [5] However, the song was left unused, and in March 2013, was unofficially leaked onto the Internet. [6]

In late January 2011, Big Time Rush resumed studio recording sessions to work on new music, intended for the latter half of their upcoming second season as well as a future sophomore album. [5] On January 23, they met in the studio with the songwriting duo of Cody Williams and producer Tekneek, clients of Baby G Music and the Los Angeles-based music group Hits & History Entertainment. [3] [7] [8] The collaboration would become the first of many, with member Carlos PenaVega frequently working with the pair. [9] [10]

The following week, the tracked vocals and initial mix were sent to producer Matthew Sherman, then known as 1984, [11] who completed the mixing and production on the track alongside Wes Jones. [4] Days later, on January 30, an early writers demo [6] recorded by Williams surfaced online. [12]

In March 2013, BTR's unreleased demo was published online via unauthorized means. Sherman addressed the leak via his Twitter account, revealing he had produced the song alongside Wes Jones. [2] While on set with Cambio, Kendall Schmidt clarified that the song had always been created and intended for the group, and that it was an older outtake unlikely to be re-purposed for future projects. [6]
