From playing the city’s most prestigious nightclubs to festivals in front of an audience of thousands, Boston native DJ Tao has entrenched himself as one of Boston’s most highly regarded and sought after DJ’s. DJ Tao currently holds residencies all across boston at Royale, Bijou, Zuma, Down, Waterclub, and the Boat Cruise Summer Series, among others. He’s also no stranger to playing across the country, having performed in Rhode Island, Connecticutt, New York, Florida, Scottsdale in Arizona, and Charlotte in North Carolina.

In his 8 year career, DJ Tao has opened for some of the world’s biggest commercial acts, including Diplo, The Chainsmokers, Snakehips, Gryffin, Knife Party, Zedd, and more, but has also made time for his true passion of house music, playing alongside legends such as Green Velvet, Claptone, Claude Vonstroke, Lane 8, Lee Foss, MK, Justin Martin, Destructo, Laidback Luke and more. Few DJ’s have mastered as many genres as DJ Tao, who can flawlessly transition between hip hop, house music, classics, and everything in between to create one epic party.

In April 2014, he made his debut on FM radio, WERX Evolution 101.7 ‘s Evolution Underground. In August 2016, he made his debut on Sirius XM’s Electric Area as a guest on PeakHour Radio. His mashups and edits have been featured on DJCity , as well as various EDM blogs.

Also the owner-operator of Flavor Media , he has grown what was once a small college party promoter into a productions and media powerhouse known across the East Coast. He also founded the popular Boston-based EDM blog Sonic Agenda . As a result, his loyal fanbase follows him nearly wherever he goes.

Boston’s Best Party on a Boat [Event Review]

It’s no surprise that boats and music make a winning combination. With the success of cruises such as Holy Ship and Mad Decent Boat Party , having some DJs spin on a boat is ideal. Fans get to be up close and personal with the DJs and you’re out on the open ocean dancing the night away. It’s a win-win for everyone.

A group of promoters in the Boston area recently took the boat party idea to a new level in the form of a more intimate voyage, dubbed the  Boat Cruise Summer Series . The show took place on a boat as it sailed around the Boston Harbor for a few hours while the audience danced underneath the stars to some incredible DJs. The event is thrown almost every weekend during the summer here in Boston, hosting DJs such as Tchami, EDX, Knife Party, Mercer and many more. I was fortunate enough to catch EDX’s set this past weekend.

EDX played the classics, his remix of “ Show Me Love ,” “ Roadkill ,” and one of my favorites, “ Missing ,” among countless others. The song I was most excited to hear was EDX’s new track that came out this Monday through Enormous Tunes called “Touch Her, Feel Her.” EDX’s percussive, driving bass lines were perfect as the boat cruised around the Boston Harbor. The promoters over at Boat Cruise Summer Series definitely know how to throw a good party and allow the attendees to have a great time. They have some really big names coming on the boat in the near future, ones that you definitely won’t want to miss.

Boston’s treasured lighthouses are being highlighted on harbor cruises while an endangered species is given space to feed in the waters off Massachusetts.

“Everyone loves a lighthouse!” said David Coffin, the narrator of the Boston Harbor City Cruise lighthouse tour. “How can you not like a lighthouse?”

The two-hour tour is a limited-edition cruise meant to highlight the historic structures and Boston history. Visitors onboard can opt for indoor or outdoor seating, where they get a view of the U.S.S. Constitution, the Boston Light, Graves Light and other notable points in these waters.

And during the journey, Coffin, a noted sea chantey singer, who’s made a name for himself on TikTok, will treat visitors to a rendition of a locally inspired chantey.

In addition to relying on interest in lighthouses, the tour also replaces a traditional whale-watching excursion.

“We used to start whale watches at the end of March,” said Coffin. “But now, as of last year at least, there’s a speed restriction out on Stellwagen Bank where the whales feed, and our boats will take you. So a whale watch today with a speed restriction would be about eight hours.”

That speed restriction on these waters is meant to protect one of the most endangered animals on the planet - the North Atlantic right whale.

“We’ve created this problem, we’ve caused this population to decrease significantly,” said Dr. Sarah Sharp, an animal rescue veterinarian with the International Fund for Animal Welfare. “But the good side of that is that it’s also in our hands to help save this population and really be a part of that solution for these animals.”
