2022 Charles Schwab Cup Championship final results: Prize money payout, leaderboard and how much each golfer won
The 2022 Charles Schwab Cup Championship final leaderboard is headed by winner Padraig Harrington, who earned the win on the 2022 PGA Tour Champions schedule at Phoenix Country Club in Phoenix, Ariz.
Harrington dominated the 72-hole season finale for the tour, winning by seven shots over Alex Cejka on 27-under 257, setting a tournament record in the process.
Steven Alker finished in solo third place, a shot back of Cejka, to score the finish he needed to win the Charles Schwab Cup.
Harrington won the $440,000 winner's share of the $2,500,000 purse.
Charles Schwab Cup Championship recap notes
Harrington wins the 27th PGA Tour Champions title of the year, getting into the winner's circle again on the 50-plus tour.
The money Harrington -- and every player in the field -- earned is converted into Charles Schwab Cup points, with every dollar converted into two points during the Charles Schwab Cup playoffs.
Steven Alker finished in third in the tournament and clinched the $1,000,000 annuity bonus for winning the Charles Schwab Cup . The top five players in the final points standings received bonus pool money.
There is no cut on PGA Tour Champions-run events, including the major championships they run. Every pro who finished the tournament was paid.
The 2022 PGA Tour Champions schedule has now concluded.

2022 PGA TOUR Champions Schedule
The 2022 PGA TOUR Champions schedule reflects a growing interest in the senior tour. The 2022 season offers players some $62 million in prize money — the most in Champions Tour history.
Among the highlights are visits to twenty different states to go with three international stops (Morocco, Scotland and Canada).
I am especially excited to see that the tour is returning to Morocco to play the Trophy Hassan II at Royal Golf Dr Es Salam. I had the good fortune to be able to play there as part of my golf trip to Morocco a couple of years ago. The Robert Trent Jones course is fantastic.
One of the reasons for the increasing interest surely is the participation of a prominent new generation of fifty-somethings on the tour, including Phil Mickelson, David Duval, Justin Leonard, Jim Furyk, Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Steve Stricker and Kenny Perry. These are all players who became well known on the regular tour during the media frenzy around Tiger’s heyday.
And then there’s Bernhard Langer. There might always be Bernhard Langer.
I’m hoping to be able to make a trip to the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship at Harbor Shores in Michigan this next May. I’ll also probably go to the Ally Challenge at Warwick Hills in Grand Blanc, Michigan in August. I stayed away this past two years because I didn’t want to be in a crowd in the middle of a Pandemic. But now that I’ve had my shots …

Champions Tour Major-Winners Remember What It Takes to Win Majors, As They Play For Another One This Week
- Author: Alex Miceli
Padraig Harrington, Darren Clarke, David Duval and others reflect on what got them over the hump in major championships during the prime of their careers.
BENTON HARBOR, Mich. — We learned last week at the PGA Championship that winning a major championship is just plain hard .
With a field in this week’s Senior PGA Championship that includes 20 career major winners, the Champions tour is filled with players who know how tough it is.
Ireland's Padraig Harrington had a major run of three wins in 14-month span: the 2007-08 Open Championships and the 2008 PGA Championship.
Harrington, 50, believes that winning a major was easier than winning a regular event, and argued that getting yourself in contention at a major is the hard part, but once you have gotten over that hurdle you have a far greater chance of winning a major than any other tournament.
“Turning off the noise the week of a major and not getting lost in the week, keeping yourself in there and doing all the good stuff,” Harrington said of his philosophy, “For me, by the time I won my majors it was inevitable.”
Harrington came close many times but didn’t have a real blueprint. Once he did, Harrington believed that outside of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson , he was the next best player.
“My time had arrived,” Harrington said of his major-winning streak. “I couldn't tell you, 'I'm going to win that major.' I couldn't tell you, 'I'm going to win the next major.' But I can tell you, 'I'm going to be in contention.'”
Harrington believed that with a proper approach, he could set himself up to play well three or four times a year and get enough breaks to pick off a major or two.
He also preached the importance of getting comfortable, which takes a lot of time in majors, but eventually came to him.
Once he accomplished the initial goal, his first major title, the next one was much harder.
“There’s very few players who play well after winning a major,” Harrington said. “It comes with a millstone around your neck. Did you justify it? Are you good enough?”
Which is why Harrington believe there are so many one-time major winners.
Retief Goosen won two U.S. Opens and agrees that you must be comfortable, which he defined as controlling your emotions.
“It’s hard on the mind,” Goosen said. “It plays games with you and the more you can be in your own zone – you look at the best players in the world – they’re the strongest in mind.”
A professed grinder, Jerry Kelly never won a major and never treated the four championships different than any other event, mainly because he didn’t have that luxury.
When others were taking time off the tour to play major venues before the championship, Kelly was playing in Milwaukee, the Western Open or the John Deere so he could keep his card.
Kelly also knew his game of extreme aggressiveness likely didn’t work well at major venues, and while he was physically capable, he was not mentally a good fit for them.
“Even when I aimed in the middle, I still moved into the pins.” Kelly said while defining aggressive nature. “You can't do that in majors, I did not have the patience. And then once I started making a bogey or two, I didn't have the patience for that either.”
The idea of treating the four majors like any other event worked for Darren Clarke, the 2011 Open Champion.
Clarke won many of the big events in golf but for most of his career could not get over the hump in majors. He felt he wanted it too much and desire got in his way.
Others might contend that Clarke didn’t do all that was required, as he loved to enjoy life. Instead of hitting the gym, Clarke was more likely found in the local pub.
“I wanted success and career success more than anything. I got in my own way an awful lot of the time and that was my problem,” Clarke said, “Because I felt as if I have enough talent to do better, I've never quite done it.”
Clarke clearly took a different way than many others, but like Goosen and Harrington, had a strong mental approach in 2011 at Royal St. Georges, which was the difference.
“I've had opportunities to win majors before and I was never able to do it and I was getting later in the stage of my career where probably I wasn't going to really win, which I would have found incredibly frustrating,” Clarke said. "Because, I've always thought rightly or wrongly that I was good enough to win at least one.”
David Duval won his Open Championship at Royal Lytham & St. Annes in 2001.
A former World No. 1, Duval was one of the best players in golf during his short career prime, making many major appearances as one of the favorites.
Eventually, after playing in enough majors, Duval like Harrington knew he was good enough to win one, which made winning one all that much easier.
“At some point I realized I didn't need to do anything different than I had been doing,” Duval said. “There wasn't any secret to it. You know, just maybe eliminate that one mistake, maybe eliminate that one missed shot, where you're short-sided yourself, don't do that. It's just that one tiny piece, but it wasn't anything different than what I had been doing.”

Here's the prize money payout for each golfer at the 2024 Chevron Championship
N elly Korda did it again. The 25-year-old American captured the Chevron Championship to collect a fifth-straight victory Sunday at Carlton Woods, trying Annika Sorenstam and Nancy Lopez as the only other players in LPGA history to accomplish the feat. It's also Korda's second major win, following the 2021 Women's PGA Championship.
Korda opened with 68 then shot three consecutibe 69s to finish at 13-under-par total to earn the $1.2 million first-place check from the $7.9 million purse. Maja Start was second place, two shots back. She earned $666,834.
RELATED: Here are the clubs Nelly Korda used to win the Chevron Championship
There’s been a broken record being played at LPGA majors of late, but one that’s creating beautiful music to those competing in the events. As tour executives emphasize the goal of increasing the prize money payouts for each event, they’re making good on the promise. In 2023, all five of the tour’s biggest individual events paid out record amounts, including a $12 million payout from the USGA at the U.S. Women’s Open and a $10 million purse from the PGA of America at the KPMG Women’s PGA.
Will the trend continue in 2024—particularly with the public awakening going regarding women’s sports overall ? If the Chevron Championship is any indication, it likely will. Earlier in the week, tournament organizers in conjunction with LPGA commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan, announced that the overall prize money payout for the event would be $7.9 million , a jump from $5.2 million in 2023.
In the three years since Chevron became the sponsor, purses for the tournament, previously held in the Palm Springs area and best known as the Dinah Shore, have risen $4.8 million. And the tour and Chevron announced that the title sponsorship has been extended until 2029.
At the Chevron this week, even those who didn't make the cut received $10,000 for their participation, up from $5,000 last year.
Here are the prize money payouts for every golfer who made the cut in Texas.

LPGA Tour on ESPN+
The Chevron Championship on ESPN+ is part of a two-year deal announced in November 2023 in which ESPN+ will present live featured group coverage of eight LPGA Tour tournaments through the 2025 season. The first event under the new agreement was the 2023 CME Group Tour Championship last fall, and The Chevron Championship is the first of four LPGA Tour events on ESPN+ in 2024.
This latest deal continues a longstanding relationship between the LPGA Tour and ESPN.
- In 2022, ESPN+ streamed the Kroger Queen City Championship presented by P&G and the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G.
- ESPN televised a schedule of regular LPGA Tour events from 1979-2009, and ABC covered the CME Group Tour Championship from 2015-2018.
- ESPN aired the first two rounds of the AIG British Open from 1982-2002 and all four rounds from 2010-2015, as well as the first two rounds of the U.S. Women’s Open from 1982-2014.
- The first golf ever televised on ESPN was the LPGA Sahara Open on Sept. 8, 1979, ESPN’s second day on air.
The remaining slate of LPGA Tour events on ESPN+ this season will be announced later this year.

Jon rahm's 2024 masters champions dinner brings liv golf, pga tour players together: 'we’re a fraternity', share this article.
AUGUSTA, Ga. — The Champions Dinner tipped its hat to Spain on Tuesday evening.
On what would’ve been the 67th birthday of Seve Ballesteros, the table of 33 champions welcomed its newest member — Jon Rahm — before flooding the room with memories of Augusta’s first European victor.
“It was a great night; an emotional night,” said Larry Mize, the 1987 winner. “Ben (Crenshaw) made sure that tonight was all about Jon, Seve and Jackie Burke.”
Rahm sat at the head of the table, side-by-side with Ben Crenshaw, marking the first time a LIV golfer played host to the dinner.
And even though the narrative of PGA Tour vs. LIV Golf remains heated to some, for one night, the sides united.
“We’re a fraternity,” said Crenshaw, who emcees the annual supper.
Added Charles Coody: “It couldn’t have been more congenial. Even Tom Watson at the very end of dinner, he stood from his chair and said how happy he was to see the camaraderie within our group. It was a wonderful night.”
Crenshaw, in his Texas drawl, opened the evening by welcoming Rahm to the Masters Club; he then gifted the Spaniard an inscribed gold locket in the form of the Club emblem.
Two years ago, at the 2022 Champions Dinner, Hideki Matsuyama stunned the table by reciting a speech in English, prompting Gary Player to toast in Japanese.
When asked earlier in the week about congratulating Jon Rahm in Spanish, Ben Crenshaw reflected on his Austin High School diploma.
“I took French,” said Crenshaw, laughing.

From there, stories immersed the room about Seve.
Bernhard Langer orated a tale about the 1983 Ryder Cup at Palm Beach Gardens when Ballesteros struck a 3-wood out of a bunker from 230 yards onto the green.
Langer told the table that from the lie Seve had, no golfer — aside from Ballesteros — would’ve cleared the lip with anything less than a six iron.
Crenshaw also mentioned the passing of 1956 Masters Champion Jackie Burke.
Burke, who shared a Champions locker with Tiger Woods, died on Jan. 19, 10 days before his 101st birthday.
“God put me down here for a long spell,” Burke said on his 100th birthday.
Thirty-three past champions attended the dinner. The only two absent were Angel Cabrera and Sandy Lyle.
According to Mize, Lyle’s wife, Jolanda, was having inner ear problems, and the 1988 Masters winner elected to remain home.
“Jolanda tried to get Sandy to come,” Mize said. “But he didn’t want to come without her.”
As defending champ, Rahm selected the menu for Tuesday evening, with his spread giving homage to Spain’s Basque region.
The meal began with six options for tapas and pintxos, Spanish for starters, before offering two main courses: Chuleton a la Parrilla, a ribeye with Piquillo peppers, or Rodaballo al Pil-Pil, a fish dish with white asparagus.
José María Olazábal chose the fish. Craig Stadler ordered red meat.
Coody picked fish.
“I didn’t want to venture too far into no-man’s land,” Coody said.
According to multiple past winners, similar to last year, Phil Mickelson remained quiet, and despite being close to Rahm, he elected not to give a toast.
