JT AD Voyager 1D91 London Euston - Holyhead Good evening driver. Tonight you are to take Virgin Trains 221101 '101 Squadron' to Holyhead. You are due to leave Crewe at 18:57. London to Brighton Route (Steam) Brighton Voyager Farewell Drive the last ever Cross Country service from Brighton to Birmingham using XC's 220 021 on the 14:30 to Birmingham New Street. Freezing February A Voyager that became stranded at Three Bridges due to heavy snow is to be used to work the final train of the night to London Victoria. The usual unit wasn't available and this is expected to be the final service until the early morning. Great Western Main Line (Steam) New Kid on the Block Today you are in control of a brand new Class 220 Voyager delivered earlier this morning. A depot instructor will lead you through the start-up procedure and the various new controls in this unit. We will then go out onto the main line to do some testing between here and Reading. Caught in the Cold This morning you are in charge of one of Arriva Cross Country's Class 220s on the first train of the day from Reading to Manchester. This service normally starts at Southampton but due to the snow it is starting here at Reading today. The train is 1M18 06:11 Reading-Manchester Piccadilly. It's just coming up to 6 AM and we are running late so need to get the unit started and set up ASAP ready to head into Reading with the empty train. Once at Reading we will reverse and head for Oxford where a Manchester driver will take over. It's not all going to plan, however; the weather has caused problems for other services and many are running late so you can expect further delays en-route to Oxford! Cajon Pass route (Note: This was a default route in previous Train Simulator releases. Not available to purchase separately) Across the Pond Drive a Voyager on a tourist trip over the Cajon Pass. The unit is only on here on hire to show what keeps Britain moving - but it has gained a special US livery! Castle Rock Railroad route (Note: This was a default route in previous Train Simulator releases. Not available to purchase separately. The same-named route available from the Steam Workshop does NOT support this scenario) Castle Rock Experience Take the Voyager on an express service along the length of the Castle Rock Railroad - it's rather different to the usual train on this service! Hagen-Siegen route (Note: This was a default route in previous Train Simulator releases. Not available to purchase separately.) German Tourists Take a party of German skiers on a hired Class 221 Voyager from Hagen to Siegen on a very wintry evening. Seebergbahn route (Note: This was a default route in previous Train Simulator releases. Not available to purchase separately. The same-named route available from the Steam Workshop does NOT support this scenario) On Test in Germany On a stunning summer's morning you are assigned to your first day of training on board the British Class 220 Voyager unit. Totham route (JT) Driver Training It's September 2002 and you have just finished with Class 47s on XC services around Britain. Today is your first day back after a two-week break and it's all changed! Gone are the oily, unreliable 40-year-old Brush veterans and in their place brand new Bombardier Voyager units. Mark, your driver instructor, will take you through the start-up procedure before you head out onto the line for an introductory drive. We will also be testing a few of the fault systems today so keep on top of your game at all times! Bristol to Exeter route (JT) Summer Saturday Service It's a summer Saturday and, as always, the holidaymakers are out in force for their annual holiday to Devon. These are the busiest days of the year here on the Bristol to Exeter line and today is no exception. You are in control of two five car Super Voyagers on a new service for the type. These units are currently replacing the Class 47s on the main services and will eventually see off the HSTs too! However, all is not well. One of our engines has failed and the guard in the second unit says that the temperatures on two of the other cars are not looking good. A Class 47 is also struggling on a southbound service and, to top it off, a Black Five is out on a rail tour to Plymouth! These days are sent to test us! Easy Like a Sunday Morning Today your job is easy (just like a Sunday morning, although it's Monday!). You need to get your Class 220 Voyager prepared for service at Barton Hill depot before working a stopping service down to Weston-Super-Mare and returning to Bristol Temple Meads. We are on hire to FGW today. The commuters are getting a change from their usual Class 150! Newcastle to York Modern route (JT) Rush Hour Express Take charge of a XC Voyager on 1S49 11:25 Plymouth-Dundee on a glorious summer evening. You will be in charge from York to Newcastle. Enjoy the trip - you should have no problems today! FREE ROAM SCENARIOS Free Roam scenarios are available for these routes:

- Scottish East Coast Main Line x 2

- Additional Information
The Class 220 Voyager is a class of diesel-electric high-speed multiple-unit trains built in Belgium by Bombardier Transportation in 2000 and 2001.
They were introduced in 2001 to replace the 20-year-old InterCity 125 and 30-year-old Class 47-hauled Mark 2 fleets operating on the Cross Country Route, initially for Virgin CrossCountry and since 2007 by CrossCountry, within the Arriva group (now owned by DB). The Class 220s operate in four-coach sets with a top speed of 125 mph (200 km/h) and a maximum range of approximately 1,350 miles between refuelling and servicing.
Because CrossCountry's network has such a wide geographic reach, Class 220 Voyagers can be seen from Aberdeen to Penzance, Manchester to Bournemouth and Newcastle to Reading. They are most common at Birmingham New Street, which is the hub of the CrossCountry network.

Difference between 220/221 Voyagers and 222 Meridians

I am wondering what the main external differences between the class 220/221 Voyagers, and the later 222 Meridians are. As far as i understand the main differences are internal as they managed to move a lot of stuff underneath on the Meridians. Also I think I'm right in saying that the Meridians have one less window in the first class driving trailer. Is this because they have a bigger kitchen? Is there anything else I've missed. Had a bit of a browse for photos, but as with all things coach related the photographers generally only get the front of the train, not the bits i want to see.

Try here: http://www.railwayscene.co.uk/view.php?cat=Class 222
The cabs are also different due to Virgin holding Copyright on the design of the front of the Voyagers (220 / 221) which meant Bombardier had to change their design
Hope this helps
I've read the copyright thing before, but also that it isn't true. I don't know either way, but I would advise some research

The bogies on the 221s are different to the 220s and 222s (I think it's that way round). Anyway, the tilting ones have chunkier bogies, and the non-tilting Voyagers have very distinctive bogies with a lot of wheel visible. Technical description to follow from someone else!

The link is not quite correct, try this one http://www.railwayscene.co.uk/view.php?cat=Class 222 Good pictures. comparing to this link is just the trick http://www.railwayscene.co.uk/view.php?cat=Class 220 Regards Andrew
Fair enough, thank you for the corrected link!
I'm sorry but I have to correct you their, the 220's and 222's both have lightweight inside bearing bogies, which are also used on the Class 172's, where as the 221's need heavy outside bearing bogies one to attach the tilting equipment to and to allow them to withstand the forces on them when tilting at 100+ mph
Are the (former) Voyagers built to a "tilting" body profile and the Meridians not so? I was todl that was the case by some Virgin gadg, manag person a while since and it would explain why the Voyager is like a rather small rabbit hutch inside....
All to the same profile - see post #8 for a near frontal comparison of both.
The 222 has a better specced interior in terms of seats and layout to a 220/221, which may make the 222 seem larger internally.
'CHARD
The compromises to adapt the 'face' away from Virgin's (it's like a spot the difference, this!) include:
- vertical strakes either side of screen
- different shape light clusters
- different shape driver's side window
- different shape coupler aperture
- different cab front details
these are as well as livery, natch!
The main layout change from class 220/221 to 222 is that the 222s have accessible toilets in the end cars only, with toilet-fitted intermediate cars having a smaller non-accessible toilet compartment. All toilets on 220/221 are of the much larger accessible type.
Together with needing less internal equipment (no tilt pack) I think this makes the intermediate saloons a bit longer on the 222. I notice some of the linked photos for the 222 show a small window at one end of the row of larger ones on some intermediate cars, but I can't see that on any of the 220 pictures. Perhaps someone could confirm if this is a difference or am I just missing something here!
Thanks Andrew. Since the demise of Fotopic I've been looking for a good photo site for trains and that's a really good one.
The cab is very different. I had heard the thing about Virgin copyrighting the design, but wasn't sure if it was true. Scanning through the photos it seems that the Meridians (222) have a coach with one extra window compared to the Voyagers. And the DMFO has one less window.
Bogie details (all in vintage liveries)

Hello, I'm looking to get a Digital 3D model made of the Class 222, does anyone know where I can find blueprints for it? Thanks.
I expect the train manufacturers and owners will have the design drawings.

CrossCountry Class 220 'Voyager' DEMU Add-On
Buy CrossCountry Class 220 'Voyager' DEMU
This product has been removed from sale. Please check back for further updates.
The modern and reliable Class 220 ‘Voyager’ comes to Train Simulator, as seen speeding through the west of England on cross country services.
The four-car diesel-electric high speed multiple units were introduced to service in 2001 to replace ageing HST sets and loco-hauled services on cross country routes between Bristol and York. ‘Voyagers’ were originally operated by Virgin Trains until the cross country route franchise was transferred to Arriva CrossCountry in November 2007 when most of the ‘Voyager’ fleet was transferred with it.
Today, all 34 trainsets operate exclusively on the CrossCountry network with a 125mph (200 km/h) top speed and a range of approximately 1,350 miles (2,170 km) between refuelling stops.
The Class 220 ‘Voyager’ for Train Simulator recreates the trainset as it currently operates for CrossCountry in the West of England. Available in Arriva CrossCountry livery, standard DMSL, MSRMB, MSL and DMFL coaches are included, alongside a passenger view.
- Class 220 ‘Voyager’ in Arriva CrossCountry livery
- DMSL, MSRMB, MSL and DMFL coaches
- Passenger view
- Quick Drive compatible
- 3 scenarios for The Riviera Line: Exeter-Paignton route, also available on Steam.

The British Rail Class 220 Voyager is a diesel-electric multiple-unit manufactured by Bombardier Transportation, in use on Stepford Express . It features a first class driving cab, 2 standard class coaches, and a standard class driving cab in the back of the unit. It costs 2,250 Points in combination with the Class 221 .
- This train is practically the same as the Class 221 , with the exception of the bogie design and the number of coaches.
The bogie of the Class 220.
The bogie of the Class 221.
- In V1.8.3, when the train was upgraded to mesh , the SCR logo was replaced with the Stepford Express logo. This trait is shared with the Class 221 .
- It had two sneak peeks prior to its initial release, one being a very dark image with the destination board saying 'Special' and the other being two Class 221s and a Class 220 at Stepford Central .
- This is the shortest Stepford Express train . Not counting the Class 43 which also has the same number of coaches as the Class 220, but has 2 locomotives either side of the coaches.
- This train and its brethren, the Class 221 , are both the only NGv2 trains in Stepford Express before the Class 801 was rebuilt with an NGv3 rebuild.
- These trains may have been from MTG and made Next-Gen for SCR.
- This was the last train in the game to carry a First Generation Livery.
- Managing Director Charlie_RBX previewed the anticipated upgrade to the mesh model for this train on 27 February 2022.
- This was not released with the NGv3 upgrade in V1.8.3 though, it might be possible that the NGv3 upgrade was also meant to be released in V1.8.2, but was delayed.
- This was a running gag with SCR Content Creators Dweller and Trainspotting Mayhem .
- Many people have criticized this train and the Class 221 for their blocky/inaccurate fronts before V1.8.3 and the quality of the sounds. People also criticize the new livery that was added with the train's mesh remodel , pointing out the oddly colored front bumpers.
- Upon the release of V1.8.3, the door animations for this train and the Class 221 were updated. Because the old animations were cached into the player's Roblox client, it caused the doors on the train to open in a bizarre way. This can be fixed by clearing the ROBLOX client cache .
- When the Class 220 and 221 were upgraded to NGv3 in V1.8.3, the new livery's colour palette was noted as being darker than the standard Stepford Express colour palette, and thus the other trains in the fleet. The livery inconsistency was fixed in V1.9.1.
- The Class 220's carriage designations skip the letter B, with the carriages instead being designated A-C-D-E. This reflects real life operations, where carriage B is the Class 221 's unreserved carriage, allowing the Class 220 to swap with a Class 221 if required while still carrying all booked passengers.
