This five or six day tour will give you the ultimate insight into the counties of Devon and Cornwall, two of the most beautiful and interesting counties in England.
Each day will celebrate different aspects of these highly regarded areas, whether it be the coast, the history, the moorland, the communities, the way of life, or any other aspect of these wonderfully varied places.
The suggested itinerary can be adjusted to suit you and your preferences, and of course we will ensure that you have the best possible tour that money can by, as we do for each and every one of our guests.
Day 1: The Ultimate Dartmoor Experience
One of the real gems of the Southwest of England, Dartmoor National Park offers endless opportunities of things to see and do within its 368 square mile boundaries, and this day gives us the perfect chance to enjoy some of these.
This will be a wonderfully varied tour that encompasses so much of what Dartmoor is about, including myths and legends, bronze age settlements, beautiful views, country inns, desolate moorland and cream teas! Leave it to us to create your perfect day, or let us know what interests you in particular, and we can put together a day to suit you.
Day 2: The Jurassic Coast Day
The Jurassic Coast is a beautiful stretch of coastline that runs for just over 95 miles from Exmouth in Devon, through to Studland Bay in Dorset. It is celebrated as a UNESO World Heritage site due to its geological significance, but it is also very blessed with beauty and other aspects of interest.
On this day, we drive along much of this incredible coastline, visiting coves, beaches, villages and towns along the way, all of them with their own stories to tell. We stop briefly at the town of Exmouth, the starting point of the Jurassic Coast. Then we head along to the charming old seaside town of Budleigh Salterton. We then head inland to East Budleigh to see the village in which Sir Walter Raleigh was brought up, before moving along to Sidmouth, Branscombe and Beer. Our final stop of the day will be over the border into Dorset to visit Charmouth, where we will have the opportunity to do some fossil hunting*, and perhaps take back a handful of the wonderful ancient artefacts that we find on the beach.
Day 3: The Devon Cultural Tour
Devon offers plenty of opportunity to seek some culture, whether it be a visit to a historic building, wandering through a beautiful garden, or spending time in a museum or the back streets of an ancient community.
This is an entirely flexible day, so the itinerary below is just an example of the kind of day we can put together for you.
Day 4: The Coastal Charms of North Cornwall
This day will be all about enjoying the enchanting communities of the North Cornwall coast, where history and heritage combine with charm, folklore and popular television series!
During the day we'll pay visits to Port Isaac and Tintagel, and if time allows, Boscastle.
Day 5: West Coast of Cornwall Heritage
This is a tour that celebrates the heritage, beauty and history of this wonderful and wild peninsula of Cornwall. Tin mining, Poldark locations, a clifftop theatre, pretty coves, and so much more can be included on this day.
During the day we will enjoy visiting the likes of St. Michael's Mount, the Minack Theatre, Mousehole, Botallack Tin Mine, and St. Ives. We won't necessarily be able to fit each and every one of these in, but it can be tailored to suit your preferences.
Day 6: The South Devon Relaxation Day
Please don't forget that you're meant to be on holiday! This day is designed to make sure that you have a relaxation day, albeit a stimulating and enjoyable one. There won't be too much driving, and you'll have the opportunity to really switch off.
We'll visit a vineyard, where you can sit back and enjoy a wine and cheese tasting. We'll take you on a guided tour of a ruined castle, where you'll gain a greater appreciation for what life was like many centuries ago. Lunch will be relaxed and tasty, of course, and in the afternoon we can enjoy a steam train ride, before taking some time towards the end of the day for a bit of retail therapy at one of our best local shopping centres.

On-Tour Luggage & Carry-On Bag Size Limits
Luggage : Each guest traveling may bring one suitcase no larger than 30” x 18” x 10" and weighing no more than 50 lb
Carry-On Bag : *Restricted to one piece per person, not to exceed 12” x 11” x 6”
- *Please note : A "carry-on bag" on a tour coach is not the same as a "carry-on" for a flight. Because our coaches have large windows to enjoy the view, there is minimal space to store large items securely overhead or under the seats. A "carry-on bag" may be a soft-sided daypack, purse, backpack, tote bag, or the like. Because we value our guests' safety, small rolling suitcases or bags with telescopic handles are not permitted. In order to guarantee a smooth trip, guests are not permitted to store an additional "carry-on" bag beneath the coach with the luggage.
So your driver and any hotel porters can safely lift and transport your suitcase throughout your vacation, we strongly recommend that you test the weight of your baggage prior to travel. You should be able to lift and comfortably transport it for short distances.
Baggage allowances vary from airline to airline, and you should check with your chosen carrier for details prior to travel.
Packing Tips for Your Tour
Packing for a guided tour will vary depending on the duration of the trip, the time of year, and the activities planned. Here is a general packing list to help you get started:
Passport and Travel Documents : Ensure you have your passport , travel insurance , and any necessary travel documents.
- Comfortable walking shoes: Cobblestone streets and uneven terrain require comfortable footwear.
- Lightweight, breathable clothing: Pack clothes suitable for the season. Bring a mix of short-sleeved tops, lightweight pants or skirts, and a few long-sleeved options for cooler evenings for the summer months, and long-sleeved and heavier layers for early Spring, Fall, and Winter.
- Layers: It's advisable to bring a light jacket or sweater and a scarf for layering, especially in Spring or Fall.
- Nice evening wear: You may wish to wear a dressier outfit if you plan on dining in an elegant restaurant, for example. Smart-casual clothes are usually acceptable for all included daytime and evening activities throughout your tour.
- Rain Gear: Depending on the season and the countries you're visiting, it's a good idea to pack a compact rain jacket or umbrella.
Sun Protection:
- Hat, sunglasses, UV-protective clothing.
- Sunscreen with high SPF. If you're visiting any coastal areas, bring reef-safe sunscreen formulated without harmful chemicals known to be damaging to coral reefs and marine life. Traditional sunscreens often contain ingredients like oxybenzone and octinoxate, which have been found to contribute to coral bleaching and negatively impact marine ecosystems. Look for sunscreens with certifications such as "Reef Safe," "Coral Safe," or "Ocean-Friendly" to ensure they are environmentally friendly .
Medications and First Aid:
- Any prescription medications you need. (See more below under Health & Wellness)
- Basic first aid kit with adhesive bandages, antiseptic wipes, pain relievers, etc.
Toiletries:
- Travel-sized toiletries, including shampoo, conditioner, soap, and toothpaste.
- Travel towel (quick-drying and compact).
- Hand sanitizer and wet wipes.
- A washcloth and carry bag (often not available in hotels abroad).
Electronics:
- A camera: You’re traveling to see extraordinary scenery and sites. So that you don't miss a single moment, bring a trustworthy camera. Check out our travel photography tips for capturing the best photos of your trips. If you feel comfortable, you can also try the camera on your phone . However, if you want to zoom in or capture moving objects, a camera might be your best bet.
- Mobile phone.
- Chargers for each electronic you bring.
- Travel adapter and/or voltage converter
- Portable power bank for charging devices on the go.
- Small travel hair dryer (make sure you have the correct converter and adapter).
Miscellaneous:
- A travel-friendly daypack or bag to carry your essentials during excursions.
- Insect repellent.
- Reusable water bottle. At GET, we’re all about caring for our planet , and with that in mind, we always recommend that you pack a reusable water bottle for your trip. Bringing your own reusable water bottle or asking for tap water at restaurants means you can make a difference by reducing your vacation plastic waste.
- A small travel alarm.
- A travel iron if you like your clothes to be pressed.
- A travel pillow.
- Scarf or shawl for visiting religious sites or to cover up in conservative areas.
- Light sleepwear.
- A new, blank journal to document your trip. Don't know your travel journal style? Find out here !
- Ziplock bags (storing snacks, toiletries, and keeping things organized).
Remember to pack light and versatile items that can be mixed and matched for different outfits. Laundry facilities are often available, or you can have your clothes laundered at hotels during your trip. It's also a good idea to pack a small bag or backpack to bring on the coach for day trips and excursions, leaving your larger luggage at the hotel.
United Kingdom passport, visa, and entry requirement information for US citizens.
- Passport: Your passport should have at least two blank pages for entry stamps. Your passport is valid for at least six months beyond the conclusion of your trip
- Visa Requirement: A visa is not required to enter the United Kingdom.
- Entry Requirements: You can see the most up-to-date entry requirements for the destination(s) you’ll visit on tour by going to getours.com/travel-requirements-restrictions .
The climate in the United Kingdom is generally classified as temperate maritime, characterized by mild winters and cool summers. The weather is known for its variability and can change frequently throughout the day. Rainfall is evenly distributed throughout the year, with showers being common. The western parts of the UK, particularly areas like Wales and Scotland, tend to experience higher rainfall compared to the eastern regions. The UK is influenced by the warm Gulf Stream, which helps to moderate temperatures and prevent extreme heat or cold. Fog and mist are common in some areas, particularly in autumn and winter.
Electricity
- American appliances run on 110-120 volts at 60 Hz, while the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland run on 220-230 volts at 50 Hz.
- Type G outlets are used throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland. Adapters are used to change the plug style from American-style plugs with two flat prongs to fit into these outlets, which take three rectangular prongs.
- You will need a plug adapter and voltage converter to use your appliances in the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.
- We recommend purchasing an adapter with a voltage converter so you can pack less. Also, pick up any necessary adapters or converters for your electronic devices before departing on your guided tour and bringing them.
Hair Dryers in Your Hotel
Hair dryers are standard accessories in hotels. Should you want to bring your own, though, you will need to bring an adapter and voltage converter or make sure it is dual voltage by checking the label for INPUT AC 120V - 240V or a switch that can be set to 125V or 250V. Many devices have this feature, so it's worth checking before you travel. If you need a hair dryer during your trip but can't find one in your hotel room, you can inquire with the hotel staff. Many hotels will be able to provide a hair dryer upon request, either at the front desk or through housekeeping.
Air Conditioning
- Air conditioning is commonly available in European and United Kingdom hotels, restaurants, and public spaces, especially in major cities and tourist areas, but it is worth noting that the settings will differ from what you are used to in the USA.

Your Itinerary
With our hand-picked local guides collecting you from Exeter St David’s station at 11am, we travel straight to Chagford for lunch, before walking into the northern section of Dartmoor’s stunning National Park. Our itinerary takes us to the ancient Scorhill Stone Circle, then onto the vast expanse of Dartmoor, where we hike on the moor and through vibrant woodland. In the evening, we make our way to the village of Chagford and settle into our hotel, The Three Crowns Inn.
Trekking high into the Dartmoor National Park, up to the spectacular granite Haytor and Hound Tor, we begin our second day with incredible views all the way to the South Devon coast. After making our descent, we stop for lunch in the pretty town of Bovey Tracey, before embarking on a woodland walk tracing the North Teign River. We finish the day by returning to Chagford.
We transfer to Cornwall, making for the idyllic coastal town of Padstow. Catching the foot ferry across the Camel Estuary to the small seaside village of Rock, we walk through the sand dunes to the partially buried St Enodoc Church. Still in use to this day, Sir John Betjeman once famously wrote that its peculiar spire was “bent like a crooked witch’s hat.” Our itinerary then sees us spend the afternoon walking the idyllic beaches of Polzeath and Daymer Bay, before returning to Padstow toward the end of the afternoon. For fans of Doc Martin, there’ll also be ample opportunity to visit the beautiful Port Isaac, where the hit show was filmed.
Transferring to the south coast, we walk from the fishing village of Gorran Haven to Mevagissey. This route takes us on the South West Coast Path, a 630-mile trail stretching all the way around Devon and Cornwall’s coastline. Hiking over rugged cliffs, through lush fields and attractive seaside villages and harbours, we stop to explore the magical Lost Gardens of Heligan. With the afternoon drawing to a close, we head back to Padstow to feast on Rick Stein’s famous fish and chips.
From Padstow, we set out again along the coastal path. Climbing the cliffs up to Stepper Point, we pass the observatory, enjoying panoramic views of ocean, town and estuary. Watch out for peregrine falcons, the fastest birds in the world, which have been known to nest in the area. We then traverse the coast and local beaches, before having lunch in Trevone, Harlyn Bay or even Constantine Bay. Catching the bus across the headland back to Padstow, we’ll have plenty of time to explore the town, with further walking options available for those keen to keep moving. At the end of the day, we return to the hotel for our last evening together.
After a relaxed breakfast, we say our farewells. Our guides can transport you to Bodmin Parkway railway station for any onward travel you may have planned or to collect any vehicles left at Exeter St David’s. Wherever your journey takes you next, we’ll be on hand to provide all the help you need.

- Redesign trips to reduce our carbon impact
- Working closely with all our suppliers across England to join us on our decarbonisation journey

- Investing in projects that permanently remove carbon from the atmosphere for any emissions that remain.
We’ve got a long way to go but we’re on our way to net-zero

If you'd prefer to find your own accommodation for this location, please choose the 'book your own accommodation' option when you book your tour. Hotels may be more expensive in Falmouth.
How can I book accommodation?
Accommodation is not included in the price of your tour. To book accommodation, there are two options: either Rabbie’s Tours can book it for you, or you can book your own. For information on how to do this, please see the ‘Accommodation’ tab on FAQ page HERE .
Alternatively, please email us your questions at [email protected] or call us on +44(0)131 226 3133.
Information you can find on the FAQ page, under the ‘Accommodation’ tab : types of accommodation, room types, the booking process, getting to and from your accommodation, and cancellation terms.
How much will the accommodation cost?
We book accommodation with third-party providers on your behalf and each property sets their own rates. Rates vary considerably depending on the accommodation standard, facilities, location, and local demand. We therefore can’t tell you exactly how much your accommodation will cost until your request has been allocated to a specific property.
As a guide, you can expect to pay the following prices, per person per night :
NOTE: Prices quoted are for guidance only and may be higher on some occasions, especially for last-minute bookings and when demand is high (E.g. peak season, weekends, holidays, special events etc)
Breakfast will be included unless otherwise noted. The type of breakfast provided will vary from place to place so you may receive either a full cooked breakfast, a continental style breakfast (E.g., toast, fruit, cereal), or a packed breakfast bag or tray (E.g., porridge pot, fruit, granola bar).
Do you offer hotel pickups in the departure cities?
The UK and Ireland's historic city centres are full of narrow streets and winding roads. So, to speed up your departure, we only pick up from our central meeting points. What's more is leaving the city using the most direct route also reduces the carbon footprint of our tours.
Is there parking close to the departure point?
We don't recommend bringing your car into the centre of our departure cities. It can be hard to find parking, and there are excellent public transportation services.
When should I get to the departure point?
Arrive 15 minutes before your departure time. Due to waiting restrictions, we can't wait for you if you're late.
What happens if I'm late or miss the tour?
If you're late for your tour, our cancellation policy applies. 100% charges are applicable, and you will not be entitled to a refund or alternative.
What are your cancellation policies?
For one-day tours: You'll receive a full refund if you cancel 24 hours or more before the tour departure
For tours of between two and nine days: You'll receive a 90% refund if you cancel 15 or more days before the tour departure
For tours of 10 or more days: You'll receive a 90% refund if you cancel 21 or more days before the tour departure
For all European packaged tours: You'll receive a 90% refund if you cancel 42 days before the tour departure.
If you cancel inside these notice periods, full charges will apply and no refunds will be issued.
To cancel your booking, email [email protected] as soon as possible. The effective date of cancellation will be the date we receive written confirmation from you.

Can Itineraries change?
Your tour will always follow the itinerary as closely as possible. Your driver-guide will keep you up to date on the road, and we'll try to get in touch about any large changes prior to your departure.
Can I pre-book a specific seat?
Due to logistical reasons, we're unable to let you pre-book a seat on the bus. But our comfortable 16-seat mini-coaches have huge windows. So, you'll always get a good view.
Are there toilets on the bus?
Unfortunately, we have no on-board toilet facilities, but you'll have regular comfort breaks.
How do you cater for people with accessibility needs?
We aim to accommodate everyone. To read more information on how we do this, click here to go to our accessibility guide.
Do you take children on your tours?
We regret we don't carry children under the age of five on our scheduled tours.
You can ask us about the tours we recommend for younger children. And if your child is less than 1.35m tall, you should let us know, so we can provide them with a suitable booster seat.
How much time do I get off the bus?
We want you to enjoy Britain and Ireland. And we believe the best way to do this is to get you off the mini-coach and out exploring. So, we give you plenty of time to take photos, go walking, and explore ancient ruins.
Why do you exclude visitor attractions?
We exclude visitor attractions in your tour price because it lets you travel your way. It means you can pamper yourself with a luxury lunch or skip an attraction whenever you feel like it.
Do we need to bring our own lunch?
You don't need to. We stop in small towns, villages, and rural eateries where you can choose whatever meal pleases both your taste buds and your budget.
Should I tip the driver-guide?
Let's be honest, our driver-guides would never refuse a cheeky bonus. But it's up to you, and the amount is entirely at your discretion.
What about travel insurance?
We advise you take out travel insurance.
What is ABTOT?
You're protected by ABTOT when you chose to let us reserve your accommodation on a multi-day tour. This means you can claim back anything you've paid us if we become bankrupt. Read our terms and conditions for more information.
I have more questions, who can help me?

Day 1 London - Exeter
Leaving central London, you travel through Wessex, one of England’s ancient kingdoms.
You pass through this millennia-old setting on the way to the historic city of Winchester. The former capital of Anglo-Saxon England is synonymous with Alfred the Great and boasts a magnificent cathedral and the Norman Great Hall.
From this bustling city, you head to a quieter but equally profound place: the standing stone circles of Stonehenge. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Stonehenge site has been skilfully preserved.
At the award-winning visitor centre, you can view the exhibition of hundreds of prehistoric items from the Stonehenge collection. By joining the land train shuttle, you make your way to the world-famous stone circles.
You then travel to Exeter*, an important fortified settlement in Roman times and your base for two nights.
*Please note that on some rare occasions, this tour may stay in Torquay instead of Exeter.
Day 2 Exeter
Explore the remote windswept magnificence of Dartmoor, where you can see strings of the native ponies grazing close to the striking rock formations.
Dartmoor is also home to an immense diversity of flora and fauna, so enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the moor’s isolated beauty.
You cross the ancient Clapper Bridge at Postbridge before heading to Tavistock, the historic market town and birthplace of Sir Francis Drake.
Arriving back in Exeter* in the early afternoon gives you a chance to explore the city’s ancient riches at a leisurely pace. The city walls, the Norman cathedral, the Royal Albert Memorial, and the Quayside all await you. (B)
Day 3 Exeter - Falmouth
Arthurian legend mixes with genuine Celtic history in Cornwall, England’s most western county.
Today, you explore the ancient Cornish capital of Launceston and its 12th century Norman castle.
You head west to the North Cornish coast and the Elizabethan fishing village of Boscastle. Indulge in a cream tea, take a stroll out to the dramatic headland, or learn a spell or two in the Museum of Witchcraft.
You travel to the village of Tintagel and the ruins of its headland Castle, whose romantic cliff top setting is purportedly the birthplace of King Arthur. After lunch, you head to Port Isaac where you can get your Doc Martin’s fix and fall in love with this picturesque fishing village. You then head south to the bustling port town of Falmouth for the next two nights. (B)
Day 4 Falmouth
Today, we explore the most westerly tip of England. We take a brief stop to look at the island community of St.Michael’s Mount.
We then travel onwards to the unique setting of the Minack Theatre perched above a thundering ocean and the beautiful National Trust beach at Porthcurno.
You visit Land’s End before following a landscape dotted with the relics of the Cornish tin mining heritage, and now a filming location for the Poldark series. St Ives is the final stop of the day with its plethora of artists’ galleries in the maze of narrow, harbour-side streets.
You return to Falmouth for the night. (B)
Day 5 Falmouth - London
This morning, you say farewell to Cornwall and travel across Bodmin Moor, a wild moorland that’s designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty.
We’ll take a break before leaving Cornwall and continuing to Glastonbury. Here you can visit the ruins of 7th century Abbey, relax over some lunch or scale Glastonbury Tor for the views across five counties.
From here, you travel back to London, a busy city far removed from the experiences you’ve enjoyed in the magical counties of Devon and Cornwall. (B)

Meander Along the Quaint Country Roads of England & Wales on an 11-Day Guided Tour
Take the country roads across England and Wales on an exploration of Dorset’s quaint seaside vistas, Cardiff’s Welsh Rugby heritage and Bath’s ancient Roman history. After taking in the grandeur of Cornwall’s manor houses, indulge in the most quintessentially English experience: learning to play croquet on a country lawn, with tips from a professional instructor. Witness the millennia-old Stonehenge and tour the stunning 8th-century ruins of Glastonbury Abbey. The rich honey color hues of the stone houses will delight in The Cotswolds, the literary legacy of Jane Austen will bring Pride and Prejudice to life in Bath, and the luxury accommodations in Dartmoor’s Bovey Castle will give you a regal taste of the high life.

Warwickshire named biggest speeding hotspot in England and Wales – study
London, Devon and Cornwall are other speeding hotspots flagged by the study.
Warwickshire has been named the ‘speeding hotspot’ of England and Wales, with a new study finding one in five drivers exceed speed limits in the county.
Warwickshire Police saw 91,325 speeding violations in 2022 – equivalent to one for every 4.58 vehicles in the area.
Go Compare Car Insurance’s findings – which used combined regional figures from the Home Office and the DVLA – located other speeding ‘hotspots’ including Greater London, Devon and Cornwall with the Met Police reporting one penalty for every 4.82 vehicles. Devon and Cornwall, meanwhile, saw one offence being issued for every 4.64 cars in the area.
Bedfordshire and Surrey both entered into the top ten – with speeding violations issued for every 8.18 and 9.14 respective vehicles – while Yorkshire was identified as another speedy area. Both North and West Yorkshire were in the top 10 list with penalties for every 6.26 and 6.49 vehicles respectively.
Tom Banks, a car insurance expert at Go.Compare, said: “Speeding is perhaps one of the most common safety risks associated with using our roads, so identifying the country’s hotspots is a key indicator of where the most dangerous places to drive are. It seems that the South is home to some of the nation’s worst areas, although the figures for Yorkshire are also particularly concerning.”
At the other end of the scale sat South Wales, where one offence was recorded for every 43 vehicles. North Wales also had a very low ratio, with one offence issued for every 21 vehicles.
Northumbria Police reported one offence for every 21.87 vehicles in the area it covers – Northumberland and Tyne and Wear – while Cleveland Police, which looks after Middlesborough, Hartlepool and Stockton, had a ratio of one offence for every 30 vehicles.

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:
From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.
At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.
According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.
The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.
Coffee Ring
The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.
Zodiac Metro
According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.
Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.
Paleontological finds
Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

- Moscow subway system is the 5th in the intensity of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
