Essential Guide to the Disney Wish Staterooms
Posted on Published: 05/02/2023
Dinsey introduced its fifth ship in the fleet, the Disney Wish, in 2022. This ship is in a brand new class, the Triton class, with some major design differences from the Dream class and the Magic class of cruise ships. While the stateroom categories and general layouts will seem familiar to some guests, there are some distinct differences. Here’s our essential guide to the Disney Wish staterooms, which should help you make a decision on what to book.
Disclosure: I’ve been on one complimentary media preview cruise as well as two cruises at a discount as part of Disney Social Media Moms. The rest of my cruises were at my own cost. All opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links and a purchase/click through one of these links may result in a commission paid to us at no additional cost to you.

I’ve had the opportunity to sail on the Disney Wish twice now, and have enjoyed it. The first sailing was a four-day cruise that was extended to six due to Hurricane Ian in the Caribbean, so I had plenty of time to thoroughly explore the ship.
The Disney Wish offers 1,254 staterooms (including 53 concierge staterooms and 23 concierge suites) and can accommodate up to 4,000 passengers (depending on stateroom occupancy) and 1,555 crew members. The number of concierge rooms on this ship surpasses the past ships, which can make booking some experiences a little more challenging if you don’t have this type of room.
While the Disney Wish is slightly larger in gross tonnage (GT) than the Dream class ships, the number of passengers is about the same. The restaurants, activities, and amenities on the Wish are different from the other ships, making it really fun to explore even if you are very familiar with the cruise line.
Types of Staterooms Rooms on the Disney Wish
The general types of staterooms on the Disney Wish are similar to the other ships. The most popular type of room is a verandah stateroom, which is how Disney refers to those rooms with balconies.
There are 1,254 staterooms, which include 53 concierge staterooms and 23 concierge suites. In this number, there are 1,133 outside staterooms (with 948 verandah staterooms and 185 oceanview staterooms), and 121 inside staterooms.
When booking your stateroom, you may find an option for GTY (or a guaranteed stateroom to be assigned). With this type of room, you’ll save some money, but won’t be able to choose your stateroom location. You will, however, be at least guaranteed a specific category of room.
Otherwise, you can choose your specific stateroom right when you book. It’s a good idea to take a look at the layout of the ship before you book so you’ll have a good idea of where to stay.
On this particular ship, there are only two elevator banks – with one in the aft and one in the forward. There are no midship elevators on the Disney Wish. Prices generally vary a bit based on location.
Accessible rooms are also available. You’ll want to choose a specific accessible stateroom when booking
Here are the various Disney Wish stateroom options:
Standard Inside Stateroom – these rooms can either sleep three or four. There’s a queen bed and a single convertible sofa. Those rooms that accommodate four also have an upper berth pull-down bed (making bunk beds over the sofa). As the name implies, these are interior rooms with no exterior views.
Oceanview Staterooms – these rooms do have a view, but not a verandah. Instead, you’ll have a porthole that you can look out of to see the ocean.
Within this category, there are regular staterooms as well as deluxe family staterooms. The deluxe family staterooms can sleep 4 to 5 – some of them have a pulldown Murphy bed in addition to the convertible sofa, upper berth pull-down, and queen bed. Be sure to confirm the configuration before you book.
Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah – this is the most popular room type on the Disney Wish. It includes a queen bed, a convertible sofa, and an upper berth pull-down bed. These rooms have a verandah, which is a nice balcony where you can enjoy some time watching the ocean. Verandahs also add some extra space because you’ll be able to go outside right from your room.
If you need more room or have a family of five, there’s also a Deluxe Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah. There are fewer of these but they are great because they also have the pull-down Murphy bed in addition to the other bedding options. I like these rooms for families with older kids because they may not want to sleep in the top bunk.
The Disney Wish also offers concierge staterooms. These rooms offer concierge benefits which include the following. These are great amenities but do come with an extra cost:
- Ability to book activities and premium dining in advance – 130 days before your set sail date
- A dedicated concierge to assist with booking activities
- Priority boarding at the port to save time with shorter lines
- Dedicated concierge sun deck (can be great on a hot day when lounge chairs are hard to come by)
- Access to the concierge lounge which offers food throughout the day as well as an open bar in the evening
Here are the types of concierge rooms: Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah – these rooms have 1 king bed, a convertible sofa (single), an upper-berth single pull-down bed, and a single pull-down Murphy bed. Note that while these rooms have upgraded touches, they are still staterooms and not a suite.
Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom – Some of these sleep four, while others sleep five. The rooms that sleep five have the same bed configuration as the Concierge Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah, and the ones that sleep four just don’t have the pull-down Murphy bed.
These rooms don’t have verandahs and instead have floor-to-ceiling windows that look out into the ocean.
Concierge 1-Bedroom Suite with Verandah – these rooms sleep five with one bedroom with a king bed and a separate living room area with a double convertible sofa and single wall pull-down bed. There are two full bathrooms in these rooms including one bathroom with double sinks. There’s also a wet bar with sodas and water as well as a walk-in closet.
Concierge 1-Bedroom Suite with Extended Verandah – these rooms are the same as the one above, but have a larger, extended verandah.
Concierge 1-Story Royal Suite with Verandah – there is one of these concierge suites, located on Deck 10. It offers two bedrooms, three bathrooms, a walk-in closet in each bedroom, a verandah with a hot tub, a wet bar with soda and water, a living area, and a dining area.
Concierge Wish Tower Suite – the most exciting stateroom on the Disney Wish is the one-of-a-kind Concierge Wish Tower Suite. This two-story, Moana-themed suite is located on decks 14 and 15 in the funnel. It has private elevator access.
The Tower Suite offers a two-story living area, a spiral staircase, two main bedrooms, a children’s room, a combo library/bedroom, four and a half bathrooms, two walk-in closets, a wet bar stocked with soda and water, and a dining area. It’s an extremely luxurious suite, and there is only one of them on board the Disney Wish.
Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah
Most families will find that the Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah is the perfect combination of amenities and cost for their vacation. While it isn’t nearly as luxurious as the suites, this stateroom category is great for a family of three or four.
These rooms include the popular split bathroom that other Disney ships offer. While each of these bathrooms has a sink, one has a toilet and one has a shower. This is perfect for families because two people can be getting ready at the same time.
This room also includes a cooler (similar to a refrigerator), a television, lots of USB outlets and standard outlets, a hair dryer, a safe, a desk, and a closet. While I’d prefer standard drawers for clothes, the Disney Wish has more open shelves. You may want to bring packing cubes which can be a great way to keep your clothes organized.
FAQ about the Disney Wish Staterooms
Yes, unless you book a GTY stateroom, you’ll be able to choose the deck and location of your room. Some locations and decks may be a little more expensive than others.
It really depends. Most people like central locations, but there are no midship elevators on the Wish. Top decks are also popular, but you may want to be closer to the kids’ clubs.
There are connecting rooms available. You can see them on the deck plan when you book to make sure you are choosing connecting options. You can also ask your stateroom host to open the verandah, if you have one.
Yes, there are suites available within the concierge category, and some of these have a separate room.
If you aren’t going to spend too much time in the room, you can save money by getting one of the cheaper room types. However, I love having the ocean view, and enjoy spending time outside.

Ready to go forward?
Awesome ...you’re now ready to evaluate the various stateroom options available on the Disney Wish cruise ship.
Table of Contents
Inside staterooms, oceanview staterooms, verandah staterooms, concierge staterooms, royal suites.
Inside staterooms are the most budget-friendly options onboard the Wish.
They are usually the smallest staterooms and do not offer a window or balcony to the outside.
On the Wish, even the inside staterooms are built to inspired a sense of enchantment. Built around Disney story themes, there is a surprising amount of room and storage in every cabin.
Two Variations of Inside Staterooms
There are two variations of Inside Staterooms: those that accommodate 3 or 4 guests.
In staterooms that sleep 4, you can pull down an upper-berth bunk bed. Above this bed, you'll find original artwork on the ceiling that has an enchanting message from the Fairy Godmother.
Below are more details about the “Standard” Inside Staterooms:

Oceanview Staterooms found on the Disney Wish are called "Deluxe Oceanview" and "Deluxe Family Oceanview".
The difference?
Deluxe Family Oceanview rooms are slightly bigger in square footage and can sleep up to 5 guests.
All Oceanview cabins are very similar to the Deluxe Inside Staterooms, except they offer a real porthole with a view outside of the ship.
Here are the specifications:

If you want to be able to sit outside on a private open-air balcony, then a Verandah Stateroom is the way to go.
Two Variations of Verandah Staterooms
There are two variations of Verandah Staterooms: Deluxe and Deluxe Family.
The difference? Deluxe Family offers a little more square footage and can sleep up to 5 (instead of only 4).
Below are more details about the “Deluxe” and “Deluxe Family” variations of Verandah Staterooms and how they differ:

- Category 4E has an oversized verandah that is about 2.5 times bigger than the standard verandah.

Ultimate Guide to Cruising on the Disney Wish
So you’re thinking of going on a Disney Cruise Line vacation? Exciting!
Let’s cut to the chase: Disney Cruises are VERY different from Disney park vacations, so if you’ve only done the latter, there’s a lot you need to know. In some ways, Disney Cruises are less stressful, but there’s a different type of planning involved that you need to keep in mind. Specifically, if you’re sailing on the Disney Wish soon, here’s what you need to know.
Book With A Travel Agent
Honestly, between all the special deals Disney drops for cruising, discounts you may have from cruising before, and everything in between, to get the best deal on your sailing, it’s best to just book with a travel agent.
Travel agents know the ins and outs of cruises and can help you save money you had no idea you could! They’re also great for recommending things to do on board, or port adventures to do at your stops. Travel agents don’t cost you a dime (YES, THEY’RE FREE!) , but can help save you tons. We love our friends over at MEI Travel personally, and they’re who we’d recommend.
Don’t Overpack OR Underpack
Don’t worry, this one is way less confusing than it sounds. We recommend making a list of all the things you’ll need during your vacation before you pack . It should look something like this:
- Bathing Suit (1-2, depending on how much you like to swim)
- A day outfit, and Dinner outfit for each night
- 1 extra outfit in case of an emergency
- 1 pair of shoes for the ship/excursions, and 1 pair of shoes for dinner (you do NOT need more than 3 pairs of shoes, we promise)
- Toiletries and medication (including motion sick medication if you’re prone to it)
- Chargers and electronics
Overpacking can be very overwhelming when you’re in such a small stateroom with other people . Pack your stuff normally, then take 30-50% of it out, if you’re an overpacker like we are. Disney cruises do have a medical station if you have an emergency, and you can purchase basic medications on board as well.
Pack Essentials in Your Purse
When you board a Disney Cruise, you’ll pull up to the terminal before you park and drop off your bags. Disney Cruise Line Cast Members will take your bags and drop them outside your stateroom, and while that’s wonderful, it means you’ll be without those bags for hours.
That’s why we recommend packing any and all essentials — electronic chargers, a book, a swimsuit, medication — in a bag you’ll keep with you as you step on the ship . This way, you can immediately start swimming, exploring, etc. without needing to wait for your bags to show up.
Take Advantage of The Food!
When you pay for a Disney Cruise, all your food (with the exception of a few fine dining restaurants and add-ons) is included in the price you paid. So take advantage of that as much as you can!
When you’re at your rotational dining, if you see two entrees you want to try, go for it! Want to eat two desserts? You’re on vacation, why not? Craving a Mickey Bar at midnight but you’re already cozy in your room? Not a problem, ROOM SERVICE IS FREE! You’ve already spent so much to be cruising with Disney, take advantage of all the meals and snacks you can.
You Don’t HAVE To Pay For Extras
Unlike many other cruise lines, lots of entertainment and dining is included on Disney Cruise Line (hence why the price tag is usually so much more expensive). However, there are a few experiences that cost extra, and while they’re pretty cool, they’re 1000% not necessary to have a great cruise.
Some of these additional charges are the signature dining restaurants Palo and Enchante , while others are port excursions you can do at your stops . If dining at one of the restaurants is a bucket list item, then go for it! Otherwise, you can have a perfectly amazing experience without spending an additional cent aboard the ship.
EXPLORE. THE. SHIP.
Every Disney Cruise Line ship is massive, but the Disney Wish is another story entirely. You will absolutely get lost, we guarantee it, and that’s okay, but that’s why you need to explore the ship as soon as you can.
There are 15 decks on the Disney Wish and most of them are open to guests exploration. We suggest that you acquaint yourself with the ship, especially the spots you plan to frequent the most (i.e. your stateroom) as soon as you can after stepping on board. And it’s not a race, you don’t need to do it as fast as you can, but if you choose to attempt to find a spot only when you need to get there, you very well may get lost and miss whatever experience you were hoping to attend.
Check Your Disney Cruise Line App
Unlike My Disney Experience, where you can check what’s going on in Disney World from hundreds of miles away, your Disney Cruise Line App won’t really come to life until you’ve started sailing.
At that time, you need to check out EVERYTHING that the app offers. YES. EVERYTHING. One of our writers went on a Disney Cruise 3 years ago when she was at that weird age of “older than 18” but “under 21,” and she had no idea until her LAST DAY that there was a set of excursions and opportunities on the app for that EXACT age range! Disney truly does think of everything, so be sure to check out everything on the app each day!
Check Out The Kids Clubs When You Can
As adults, you will have very few opportunities to check out the Kids Clubs on board the Disney Wish before they close to the adults for the duration of the cruise. TAKE ADVANTAGE of that!
Listen, you may think that as an adult, you’ll have the most fun on the cruise. WRONG. These kids clubs are some of the coolest things we’ve ever seen , and they could entertain US for hours. Which is why we’re so glad they’re available to kids on board, but why we’re also so jealous. So please, when you get the chance to explore the kids clubs on your sail away date, DO IT!
Take A Walk At Night
Now normally, this is not something we’d recommend ever because, uh, safety, but on a Disney Cruise, there’s nothing like taking a walk around a quiet ship in the middle of the night.
Is it terrifying to realize that the ocean is spreading out before you and you can’t see the end of it because it’s pitch black outside? Yeah, for sure. Does it also remind you that you’re a small human on the monstrosity that is Earth, and that you live in a time where you can BE on a boat in the middle of the ocean at night and not worry about sinking? YES, and it’s amazing. So take a midnight walk and thank us later.
Do What YOU Want To Do
Just like a Disney parks vacation, there are a lot of things to do on board the Disney Wish. At the end of the day, it’s up to you to make it the best cruise ever, and the way to do that is by doing what YOU want.
If you’re traveling with a group of adults, or your kids are having the time of their lives in the kids clubs, then it’s time to break off from the others and do whatever your heart desires. Swim all day? Sure. Watch movies in the giant theatre or play trivia all day? Sounds amazing. Want to sit on the deck all day tanning and reading a good book. Sign us UP. Whatever you want to do, don’t let others get in the way of that (unless its your kids, please don’t forget about your children).
Planning a Disney Cruise can be intense, but that’s why we’re here to help. We’ve sailed on the Disney Wish a few times and can help guide you with what you need to know and how to prepare — this isn’t All State, but you are in good hands!

Disney Wish Custom Color Coded Stateroom Category Deck Plan
Please see the updated version 0.2
Please note, this is NOT an official deck plan which I am calling version 0.1. Disney Cruise Line has not published a color coded deck plan. As a result, this visualization may vary slightly depending on a number of variables. It was created using available information. Plus, there could be designer error – sorry. The purpose is to help visualize the stateroom categories as best as possible while we all await the offical color coded deck plan. Basically, use at your own risk and always verify specifics with Disney Cruise Line prior to booking.
This custom color coded stateroom category deck plan has been added to the Disney Wish deck plan page and joins the graphical representation of the various decks which was released during the grand reveal of the Disney Wish. The Disney Wish staterooms are available to browse via the stateroom explorer – please note, I am still working on the details such as linking the connecting staterooms.
Bookings for the inaugural season for the Disney Wish open to the general public on May 27, 2021 with tiered early booking beginning on May 17th for Platinum Castaway Club members with 25 or more sailings.

Thank you so much!!!!!
Nice, this will give a basic idea where cabins are located for booking when it starts.
Thank you…2 sets of elevators vs the 3 on the Fantasy and Dream? Interesting. Definitely good to know as I decide where my new favorite cabins will be ?
Great work!!!!!
Thank you, Scott!
Thanks so much for this, with a few clicks you can narrow down your choices really quick. Especially if you only have two in your party. Also I was happy more accessible rooms. Those are great for those of us 65+ walking with canes or walker or need a wheel chair and still love the Disney experience. Thank you again.
The more I think about it, there are a lot of people with mobility issues where the tub is the problem and they don’t necessarily need an accessible state room. It would be nice to see the connecting state room pairs have a walk in shower in 1 room and the tub in the other.
