Drake, full name Aubrey Drake Graham, is a Canadian rapper and actor from Toronto, Ontario. Born in 1986, Drake first rose to fame as an actor but was signed to Young Money Entertainment in 2009.

At the age of 20, Drake self-released his first mix-tape, “Room For Improvement”, which featured artists such as Lupe Fiasco and Trey Songz on the tracks. The quality of the work on this first mix tape won Drake a steady following on the underground rap scene which he grew with the release of his second and third mix tapes, “Comeback Season” and “So Far Gone”. The release of “So Far Gone” saw fans download the mix tape over 2000 times in the first two hours of its release. Two tracks from the album, “Best I Ever Had” and “Successful” hit the number one and number two positions on the US Rap charts, respectively.

This success sparked a bidding war amongst various record labels to get Drake onto their rosters. Young Money Entertainment, owned by Drake’s mentor Lil Wayne, came out successful and signed the rapper in 2009. Drake’s studio albums, including “Thank Me Later”, “Take Care” and “Nothing Was the Same”, have reached the number one spot on the US Billboard chart and each has been certified Platinum.

Drake has had multiple multi-platinum selling singles, but his most successful singles include “Hold On We’re Going Home”, "Headlines", "Take Care", "Make Me Proud", and "The Motto" (where Drake was credited with popularising the acronym YOLO).

Already the winner of one Grammy Award for his 2013 album, “Take Care”, Drake has also won a host of other awards from bodies such as the BET Awards, the MTV VMAs and the Juno Awards. Drake has won millions of fans across the world as a result of the six tours he has completed since 2010. With his work ethic and talent, there is no doubt that Drake’s hard-earned success will continue for quite some time.

Live reviews

Drake's energy on the stage is just incomparable to anybody I've seen. The way he connects with the crowd is unbelievable. I think that his energy on stage just get the crowd more hyped up so it's an all around good show whenever Drake performs. From "So Far Gone" to "Nothing Was The Same," his style and the way he gets his message across have stayed the same. That's the best thing about aging, you get better as time progresses and I think that his albums are a definite reminder of how lyrically and musically talented he is. Many artist make one or two good albums, maybe a song or two every now and then, but Drake has consistently been at the top releasing good music and is just on fire. It's easier to get to the top than to stay there, but he's proving to everyone that he has enough to get to the top and knock anyone down who try's to take him down.

I love how he makes his music to fit any type of mood that you're feeling. His music isn't just slow R&B, he has some up-tempo music that will get you feeling pumped up and ready to go. I also love how he isn't like a Lil Wayne type of rapper who just uses auto tune and throws random gun verses in his songs. Every song is well thought out, every line is placed just right, the words flow with the beat and it's just magic. Even if you don't like Drake, when "Hold on, We're Going Home" comes on you're going to start singing. His songs are just too catchy, and are just classic, so 30 years from now people will still be blasting "Take Care" in their car. From what I've watched, he gives the people their moneys worth and leaves them waiting to see Drakes next move or when he's dropping his next album. He's just an all around great artist and performer, strongly recommend seeing him.

I have never been a huge fan of Drake, but after becoming hooked on the 2013 song ‘Hold on we’re going home’, I decided to check out his back catalogue of work, and was really surprised with what I found, and immediately regretted discounting him previously.

The combination of chilled out tracks in contrast with his rapping and songs like ‘Headlines’ provides such great listening variation, covering a variety of musical genres. Drake’s recent performance at this years Grammys was simply breath-taking, drawing in the audience to the narrative of ‘Hold on we’re going home’ without being showy or over the top, yet managing to merge smoothly into the track ‘Started from the Bottom’, providing the audience with a more upbeat track.

Drake’s interaction with his audience, especially on this occasion is something which he deserves credit for, maintaining his vocal performance whilst attempting to greet as many fans as possible. For me, this injection of his personality really provides the fans with a motivation to watch him live, as the dedication to both performance and fans is something that he appears to have mastered.

He really is one of those artists that you have to see live to experience the full potential of his music.

I bought my tickets to Lil Wayne VS. Drake about 4 months ago and finally got to attend the show on Saturday. Wow. My mind was blown. First of all G-Easy Opened for them and really got the crowd warmed up for the headliners. The whole show was like a video game with Drake and Lil Wayne going back and forth with old and new hits which I was so impressed with how they really mixed it up. Drake flew above the crowd suspended holding on to a stripper pole looking stand which Lil Wayne later dogged on him for. They battled back and forth about being the most featured artist and at the end I had chills because they were both saying how grateful they were for keeping each other's music alive. It was inspiring and poetic. I was impressed it was definitely the best show I have been to this year!

Drake puts on a great show, honestly a great performer who is very talented.

However, if you’re really going to tour with migos, and they don’t show up to do their opening set, there really should be some kind of refund. I came to the show expecting to see migos and then drake and then when migos didn’t show up I went into Drakes set disappointed about missing migos. Sure two of them came out and did 2 songs but really not enough. Instead of touring with these unreliable guys, tour by yourself, I would have no problem paying exactly what I paid for just Drake.

He watch all of Drake documentary, interviews and reads all of his commentaries. This playlist is all Drake and the artist he signed. He even make me sit down and watch Drake life stories. He has all of his family, friends and girlfriend listening to Drake! He ware Drake clothing line “OVO” and has his family and friends wearing OVO too! Drake to your biggest fan ever Keldrick Mumphrey he a great young man and a wonderful son! Love mom

Tickets were very expensive. This was one of the most I have ever paid for a concert ticket, need to make it affordable for his fans. His stage presence was brilliant and loved how much he relates himself to the UK and a personal bond with Birmingham. He did lots of his lesser successful songs which was disappointing, songs like crew love which lots of his fans LOVE came on for 10 seconds then he switched into another one. Just felt it lacked real good performances of his better known and his best songs.

I really liked the show! Drake was an amazing entertainer and made me feel seen and made the show worthwhile. He really suprised me in a positive way:) I loved the sequals were he talked between the songs and the drirecting of scenery was incredible. Some of the most impressive stuff I have ever seen on a stage. He was a good singer, and I liked his tribute to Rihanna. Thanks Drake, for an awesome experience. You are way coolet than I thought

One of the best concerts I've been to in a while... Then opening act: party next door wasn't very well known But when the main acts got on stage the party was really bumpin. Great set list. I can say that I was standing and dancing the whole night and rapping along. They had an interactive portion to help decide who won the rap battle between Drake and Lil Wayne through a downloaded app on your phone. Overall awesome experience!

Amazing preformance! He's very enganging and interactive with the crowed, not to mention insanely talented! There was a really cool moving light show (globes of lights that were lowered and raised to create patterns above the audiance as well as change colors). Would have loved to hear more from some of his first albums but all in all a fantastic show. Definatly was worth spending the extra money for floor seats :)

Taylor808’s profile image

The Drake vs Lil wayne show was definantly a must see! The whole competitive feel of them trying to one up eachother really drove the energy up! Drake is amazing live but honestly Lil Wayne stole the show for me. Also the production value is through the roof! It's less of a concert and more of an experience! They played all of their hits as well as their old stuff! Definantly get a seat to this one!

Drake announces more shows on 2023 North American tour with 21 Savage

drake tour oregon

Drake is going on a North American tour for the first time in five years, and he's taking 21 Savage along for the ride.

The duo behind chart-topping single "Rich Flex," which debuted in the top slot of Billboard's Global 200 chart , will perform a 43-date arena tour this summer , adding 14 more performances to the initial 29 concerts announced. The It's All a Blur Tour includes stops across the U.S. and Canada kicking off on June 16 in New Orleans and wrapping up in Glendale, Arizona, on Sept. 5.

The last time Drake, 36, went on tour was half a decade ago for the Aubrey & the Three Migos Tour in 2018.

During his break from the road, the rapper put out a number of studio albums including "Her Loss" with 21 Savage, along with a smattering of other releases. The tour's name is a nod to Drake's work over the last five years, according to a Monday release.

The announcement delivers on a tease from Drake made during his January performance at the Apollo Theater in Harlem  while thanking fans. "I'll be out and about on the road this year, so I hope to see a lot of the same faces," he said at the time.

The Canadian rapper took to Instagram to announce the tour Monday with a montage-style video on Instagram. "IT’S ALL A BLUR TOUR with @21savage," he wrote. "Dates now live on DrakeRelated.com click the link in bio for more information and details for your location."

Drake and 21 Savage have long history

It's not surprising to see Drake and 21 Savage touring together, especially after the release of their 16-track project, "Her Loss,"   which they performed together at New York's famed Apollo Theater in January. All 16 tracks on "Her Loss" debuted on Billboard’s Hot 100 last year.

The two also   shared the mic on "Mr. Right Now" from 21 Savage's 2020 "Savage Mode II" album and in turn, 21 Savage was featured on Drake's 2021 "Certified Lover Boy" with "Knife Talk." The two also closed out Drake's 2022 offering "Honestly, Nevermind" with "Jimmy Cooks."

John Reniewicki erases Steve Scott's 40-year-old Drake Relays 1,500 record

Reniewicki led four runners across the finish line who all broke scott's record of 3:38.27..

Take a bow and step aside, Steve Scott. Your 40-year Drake Stadium 1,500-meter record is history.

John Reniewicki fought off a last-lap challenge from fellow American to take the victory in a Drake Relays record time of 3 minutes, 36.44 seconds on a nearly ideal day for track and field Saturday. The former Arizona State runner led four runners across the finish line who all broke the former Sub-Four Track Club athlete's record of 3:38.27.

"Oh, wow," Reniewicki said when told he broke Scott's 1984 Relays record. "It certainly wasn't in my mind. I'm certainly happy with the record. But I wouldn't go so far as to comparing myself to someone like Steve Scott."

Reniewicki is emerging as a threat to make the American team for this summer's Paris Olympics after a strong week where he finished second to Ciattei at Tuesday's USA 1 Mile Championship in downtown Des Moines. Ciattei led wire to wire in that race Tuesday. This time, Reniewicki kept on the inside of lane 1 for the final lap and matched every one of Ciattei's moves.

"I could see him on the videoboard (on the backstretch). I knew he would be coming," the 28-year-old Reniewicki said. "He's extremely strong, coming in extremely fit. I'm sure he wanted that double."

Scott rarely strayed from the 1,500 or mile during his illustrious career, which included a silver medal in the 1,500 at the IAAF World Championships in 1983. Reniewicki, an Under Armour Mission Run athlete based in Baltimore, had a circuitous career path to the 1,500. He began his college career running in the 10,000 and 5,000 before eventually finding his sweet spot. He never ran faster than 4:07 for the mile as a Sun Devil.

Reniewicki said tough, tactical races like Saturday's World Athletics Continental Tour 1,500 will help sharpen his racing acumen leading into the U.S. Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon, in June.

"Getting in reps like this is so important for development," Reniewicki said. "That's important in a year like this. The top three (at Trials) are the only positions that matter."

Ciatti (3:36.57), Abe Alvarado (3:37.56) and Kenya's Justine Kipkoech (3:37.78) also eclipsed Scott's record.

WACT Women's 3,000 Steeplechase

Start. Stop. Start.

Annie Rodenfels and others competing in the featured pro event Friday night were hustled to the starting line by Relays officials in a furious attempt to get this race in before bad weather, specifically thunderstorms, set in. Rodenfels was amped to race. Her heart sank when she saw a lightning bolt in the sky.

Officials postponed the race. And it was eventually rescheduled to Saturday morning.

A little more than 12 hours later, Rodenfels returned to Drake Stadium to capture the 7 1/2-lap victory in a new Drake Relays record 9:31.03. Rodenfels fed off big crowdto pull away from fellow American Angelina Ellis on the sixth lap to win by 4.59 seconds.

"It was a little crazy," the Boston Athletic Association High Performance Team member said. "I was hoping we'd run last night. If everyone else is freaking out about it, I'm fine with that. I'm good under pressure. I thought it would help me."

Rodenfels ran 15:08 B.A.A. 5K on the roads of Boston just two weeks ago and felt ready to gain the World Athletics standard for the Paris Olympics of 9:23. She said subpar technique over the barriers and sapped energy contributed to her missing her target time.

"I felt sluggish today. Just (using) all the adrenaline for hours yesterday. I'm sitting there for two hours (Friday) thinking I'm still going to race and trying to stay in the zone. My body felt a lot better yesterday."

WACT men's 800

Nebraska-Kearney senior Wes Ferguson denied Iowa State fans a thrill when the 2023 university/college champion held off Cyclone junior Darius Kipyego by .19 of a second. Kipyego made a run at Ferguson and owned a slight lead with about 50 meters to go. Ferguson had a final gear, however, and won in 1:46.08.

"I thought I had it," Kipyego, who is from Warwick, Rhode Island, said. "I knew he would close well. It was that last 30 meters. I want to make them (fans) happy and run well. We'll get them next year."

Senior teammate Finley McLear was fourth in 1:46.81 in a race heavy with Iowa collegians. Drake senior and 2023 NCAA indoor mile runner-up Isaac Basten took fifth in 1:46.89. Basten's former teammate, Under Armour athlete Adam Fogg, was seventh in 1:47.47. Iowa State student Jason Gomez took eighth in 1:48.93.

WACT women's 100 hurdles

Former Des Moines Roosevelt prep and 2008 Olympian Lolo Jones was the headliner coming in, with her return to Des Moines and entrance into the Drake Relays Athletes Hall of Fame taking much of the billing this week.

Veteran British athlete Cindy Sember put all of the attention on Lolo aside and focused on her business, taking the victory in 12.59 seconds. The former Michigan athlete, healthy now after battling knee issues last year, won by .09 of a second over Jamaica's Demisha Roswell.

"I go to big races knowing I'm the underdog and I'm not the most known athlete, but that's OK," Sember said. "And just really getting that mindset that I've trained for this and I'm ready to execute. That's all I focus on."

Jones, 41, finished fifth in 13.10 seconds.

WACT men's pole vault

American record holder KC Lightfoot made 19-2 on his third attempt at that height to take the Drake victory. He missed at three attempts at 19-8 1/4

The Puma athlete cleared 19-4 1/4 at a special indoor pole vault competition at Jordan Creek Mall in West Des Moines on Monday. On Saturday, Lightfoot said conditions were good enough, which hasn't always been the case at Drake.

"It doesn't matter if I jump here one time or 20 times, it's tricky sometimes," Lightfoot said. "Sometimes you get a bad headwind and it doesn't line up. Glad it lined up enough for me today."

WACT men's shot put

Payton Otterdahl can finally say at family reunions that he's a Drake Relays champion. The 2021 Tokyo Olympics shot putter topped a nine-man field with a series of consistent throws of 22.06 meters, 22.12 and 22.14 on his third through fifth attempts to claim victory.

Otterdahl's girlfriend, University of Nebraska throws coach Maddy Nilles, owns multiple Drake white flags while competing at North Dakota State. Both of his brothers also been victorious at the Drake Relays.

"Every family gathering it's, 'Where's you Drake flag,' " said Otterdahl, who competed at North Dakota State. "Finally."

WACT men's 400 hurdles

American Aldrich Bailey won from the worst of lanes, lane 8 on the rail, and held off 2022 World Athletics Championships bronze medalist Trevor Bassitt by .11 of a second to claim the win in 48.82 seconds.

Bailey, a U.S. Army athlete, did some soul-searching after running a ran 47.43 open 400 meters at the Michael Johnson Invitational in Waco, Texas, last weekend.

"Last week was rough," he said. "I was thinking mentally I needed a rest. We altered some things in training and in one week I saw the difference. I can build from this."

WACT women's 400 hurdles

Former Texas A&M All-American Deshae Wise closed well from the 10th hurdle on, separating from Lauren Hoffman to claim victory in 55.52 seconds. It's her fastest time since a career-best 55.15 set in Fayetteville, Arkansas, in June of last year.

"It was the exact strategy I came in wanting to execute," Wise, who is based in Houston, said.

Wise is a former 100 hurdler who is making a successful transition to the longer, tougher 400.

"Having that patience on the backstretch and not trying to get too excited," Wise said of her strategy. "Focusing on myself. I'm happy I'm getting the hang of it."

Former NCAA champion Anna Camp Bennett of adidas dodged some chaos on the final corner to overtake Tuesday's USA 1 Mile Championship winner, Rachel McArthur, to take the victory in 4:07.82. McArthur was another .57 of a second back in second place.

The chaos started on the third turn when Stephanie Brokaw jumped into the lead, causing a jam-up with McArthur. McArthur stepped on the rail and lost momentum. Camp Bennett then swept outside in lane 2 as Brokaw faded.

"I'm glad nobody fell," Camp Bennett said. "We will have to deal with that at U.S. Olympic Trials. I know those heats will be messy and wild. So I'm almost grateful for the opportunity to run in something a little messy."

Former Northern Iowa star and current assistant track coach Alexina (Wilson) Teubel finished sixth in 4:10.95.

WACT women's 800

Canadian Aurora Rynda charged from behind in the final 20 meters and dove at the finish line to overtake Bradley's Julia Nielsen to produce a thriling victory. The former Big Ten Conference champion at the University of Michigan ran 2:00.97 to edge Nielsen by .02 of a second.

"I had quite a bit of room to make up," Rynda said. "I feel like I have a good close. I really tried to focus on getting there as fast as I could. It's a huge confidence boost."

Former Iowa Big Ten champion Mallory (King) Lindaman finished fifth in 2:03.27.

WACT women's shot put

Ole Miss senior Jalani Davis made her first throw, 18.23 meters, or 59 9 3/4 inches, stand up for the victory. Davis won by almost a foot over Nebraska's Alexina Johansson. Davis said she was buoyed by the big Drake Stadium rowd surrounding her.

"When the shot put is in the middle of the field, I really appreciate that. The crowd's cheering for you, they're watching. I love that. It's perfect."

WACT men's 110 hurdles

Nebraska senior and Lincoln native Darius Luff put together the complete race to run 13.25 seconds and defeat a seven-man field. American Cameron Murray was second in 13.34. Luff moved up from his second place at Drake a year ago while knocking .23 of a second off his time.

"Every race so far this season I've executed a certain point of the race and fell below where I wanted to be in other parts," Luff said. "I knew as soon as I got the pieces together, a time like that was going to come out. Today just happened to be the right day."

Phillip Rivers beats 2024 NFL Draft QB prospects Drake Maye, Bo Nix in throwing competition

The old man can still sling it!

  • Author: Cory Kinnan

On the heels of the 2024 NFL Draft, potential No. 2 overall pick Drake Maye has been training with the long-time starting and now retired quarterback Phillip Rivers. And apparently, the old man can still sling it as he beat both Maye and Oregon's Bo Nix in a throwing competition.

Training for the draft and his rookie season, Maye is joining Rivers for guidance on the whiteboard and on the field. Maye recently joined the This is Football podcast with ESPN's Kevin Clark to discuss his favorite stories revolving around Rivers.

In a competition of throwing out routes into a net, Maye stated that Rivers bested the two youngsters as well as projected late round pick Carter Bradley of South Alabama.

Drake Maye is working with Philip Rivers before the draft. He loves it. Rivers and the QBs he's worked with (Maye, Bo Nix, Carter Bradley) recently had a throwing contest. Out routes into a net. Philip Rivers won. "Philip can still throw it" And yes he can still talk trash. pic.twitter.com/dudsSoJAVk — Kevin Clark (@bykevinclark) April 22, 2024

Taking advice (and competing with) a quarterback like Rivers is a great way to prepare to enter the NFL. Will Maye hear his name called by the Washington Commanders, New England Patriots, or a mystery team on Thursday night?

Police officers and university administrators have clashed with pro-Palestinian protesters on a growing number of college campuses across the country in recent days, arresting students, removing encampments and threatening academic consequences.

The fresh wave of student activism against the war in Gaza was sparked by the arrest of at least 108 protesters at Columbia University on April 18, after administrators appeared before Congress and promised a crackdown. Since then, police interventions on several campuses, including in some of America’s largest cities, have led to more than 700 arrests.

Here is where arrests have been reported as the authorities attempt to break up protests or encampments:

Columbia University : The New York City Police Department arrested 108 demonstrators while clearing an encampment at the Manhattan campus on April 18.

Yale University in New Haven, Conn.: The police arrested 60 people on Monday, including 47 Yale students, after they refused to leave an encampment on campus.

New York University in Manhattan: Officers made dozens of arrests late Monday after students occupied a plaza on campus.

University of Minnesota in Minneapolis: Nine people were taken into custody after they erected an encampment on Tuesday. All of those affiliated with the university were allowed back on campus and civil trespass warnings were “set aside.”

University of South Carolina in Columbia: Two students were arrested after a protest on Tuesday, according to a police report.

University of Southern California in Los Angeles: The police arrested 93 people at a demonstration on Wednesday afternoon.

University of Texas at Austin : The police arrested 57 protesters on Wednesday. A spokeswoman for the county attorney’s office said charges against many had been dropped after the office found legal “deficiencies” in their arrests.

Emerson College in Boston: The police arrested 118 people as an encampment was cleared on Wednesday night, the authorities said.

Ohio State University in Columbus: A university official said that 36 people, including 16 students, were arrested on Thursday. Earlier in the week, two students were arrested during an on-campus demonstration, university officials said.

Emory University in Atlanta: At least 28 people were arrested on Thursday morning, an Emory official said; 20 had ties to the school.

Indiana University Bloomington : On Thursday, the university police said 33 people were removed from an encampment and taken to jail. There were 23 more arrests on Saturday, the police said.

Princeton University in New Jersey: Two graduate students were arrested after pitching tents on Thursday.

University of Connecticut in Storrs: Campus police officers removed at least one tent from a rally on Thursday and took at least one person into custody, a university official said.

California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt : Protesters have occupied two buildings on the campus in Arcata, Calif., university officials said. Three people were arrested there this week.

Auraria Campus in Denver: About 40 people were arrested on Friday at a campus that houses facilities for the University of Colorado Denver, the Metropolitan State University of Denver and the Community College of Denver, the campus police said.

University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign : Social media posts on Friday showed police officers detaining at least one person and taking down an encampment.

Arizona State University in Tempe: A university official said 69 people were arrested early Saturday after protesters set up an encampment. Three people were also arrested on Friday.

Northeastern University in Boston: The Massachusetts State Police said that 102 protesters were arrested on Saturday. Earlier in the day, the university said that among those who were detained, students who showed their university IDs were released.

Washington University in St. Louis : On Saturday, more than 80 arrests were made and the campus was locked down, according to university officials. The presidential candidate Jill Stein was among the arrests.

Halina Bennet, Nicholas Bogel-Burroughs , Robert Chiarito , Jill Cowan , Matthew Eadie , Colbi Edmonds , Jacey Fortin , J. David Goodman , Johnna Margalotti, Erin Nolan , Jenna Russell , Edgar Sandoval and Jonathan Wolfe contributed reporting.

Because of an editing error, an earlier version of this article misstated when students at Princeton started to pitch tents. They erected tents on Thursday, not Wednesday.
