Erste musikalische Erfolge aus dem Hobby-Studio

Seine Jugend verbringt Andreas Gabalier in Graz. Er schließt dort die Handelsakademie ab und beginnt, Jura zu studieren. Nebenbei textet und komponiert er Songs und nimmt sie in einem Hobby-Studio auf. Seinen ersten Auftritt im Fernsehen feiert er im Sommer 2008: Im ORF-Landesstudio Steiermark präsentiert der Student zwei seiner Lieder.

Danach geht es rasant nach oben. Zum ersten öffentlichen Konzert strömen 2008 ganze 10.000 Besucher. Gabalier startet auch in Deutschland durch

Auch in Deutschland gelingt Andreas Gabalier bald ein Senkrechtstart. Nachdem er im April 2011 bei Carmen Nebel auftritt, landet sein Titel „I sing a Liad für di“ in den deutschen Singlecharts. Dabei ist der Song zunächst gar nicht für eine Veröffentlichung vorgesehen.

Danach geht es Schlag auf Schlag: Das Label Universal lizenziert die Single für Deutschland. Im selben Jahr erreicht das Album „Herzwerk“ Platz 1 der österreichischen Charts und hält sich dort 82 Wochen lang. Darüber hinaus kann Andreas Gabalier noch die beiden Alben „Volks-Rock-’n’-Roller“ und „Da komm’ ich her“ in den Top 10 unterbringen.

Einfach Klasse

Eintrittskarte war ein Geburtstagsgeschenk; hat großartigen Anklang gefunden; es war ein einmaliges Erlebnis. Parkplätze sind ausreichend vorhanden, da ich auch schon vor Ort war. Wermutstropfen: diesmal wussten die anderen Autofahrer nichts von der Möglichkeit des vorherigen Bezahlens, damit ein einfaches Ausfahren möglich wird. Es staute sich auch für die, die vorher bezahlt hatten.

5.0 - the return, olympic stadium.

It has long been familiar territory for the Mountain Man: when Andreas Gabalier comes to the Olympic Stadium on 22 June 2024, it will be his fifth open-air performance under the tent roof since his debut in 2016. This time, too, the Austrian will give his fans a brilliant show, with hits like "I sing a Liad für di" or "Hulapalu". The folk rock'n'roller is back - at his home game in the Olympic Park.

In July 2016, Andreas Gabalier made his debut at the Olympic Stadium and kicked off a series of three more open-air spectacles every year: until his performance in front of a record crowd of 72,000 in June 2019. Then came the pandemic. But now the folk rock'n'roller is returning under the tent roof for a triumphant comeback on 22 June 2024. 

Once again, his fans in lederhosen and dirndl can look forward to an atmosphere with atmospheric stage sets, an energetic live show and colourful light shows - and, of course, the big hits to sing along, sway along and dance along to: With songs from his successful studio albums such as "Herzwerk" (2010), "Mountain Man" (2015) or "Ein neuer Anfang" (2022). The Olympic Park is ready for a big traditional costume party, which Andreas Gabalier himself has already declared the highlight of the year 2024, because: "Munich is the epicentre of folk rock'n'roll." And, actually, it goes without saying: whether down in the arena or all around on the stands - in the Olympic Stadium the audience will of course again have the best and completely unrestricted view of the stage from all seats.

After Covid shut down AMC and the rest of the globe’s multiplexes and the actors strike ratcheted down the box office, you could say that the No. 1 exhibitor was taking its fate into its own hands with Taylor Swift: The Era’s Tour . However, it has Scott Swift, Taylor Swift’s father, to thank. He reportedly made the call to AMC CEO Adam Aron to sidestep studios and gain more cash in taking his daughter’s movie from her $1 billion-plus-selling, sold-out concert tour directly to AMC. Why have a studio walk away with a ton of cash and spend tens of millions in marketing when Swift with a then-near-400 million social media followers is the best form of advertisement? She tweeted a few times to promote the movie, and showed up at her boyfriend Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs games to drum up her $15M Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film as a must-see. The movie also received a SAG-AFTRA waiver, which allowed the pop star to show up at her own Los Angeles world premiere and do publicity. The result: $100M in global advance ticket sales. AMC, to avoid antitrust issues, hired Gotham-based distributor Variance Films to book cinemas across the nation, and Trafalgar to handle the overseas release. Much to the chagrin of the studios, who had their thing to say about Aron’s entry into the distribution business, they all started moving their movies away (i.e., Universal’s The Exorcist reboot, Lionsgate’s Ordinary Angels ) from Eras Tour and its arrival on the calendar October 13. Swift cleverly tailored her marketing to fans, releasing the movie on a date that reps her lucky number, with tickets priced at $13.13 for children and seniors. Initially she wasn’t going to preview the movie, looking to open hard on 10/13. At the last minute, during the week of release, Swift changed her mind and opted for last-minute Thursday previews (they only yielded $2.8M).

England's kris kim, 16, set to make pga tour debut, following in footsteps of his lpga mom, share this article.

High-level golf runs in the family for 16-year-old Kris Kim, who will make his PGA Tour debut this week at the 2024 CJ Cup Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas. Kim’s mother, Ji-Hyun Suh, played on the LPGA in 1998 and 1999, at the same time superstar Se Ri Pak burst onto the global stage.

Kim, who hails from Surrey, England, brings quite the resume to Texas. His 2023 triumphs include the R&A Boys’ Amateur Championship, European Boys Individual Championship and the McGregor Trophy.

He also went undefeated at the Junior Ryder Cup, defeating another up-and-coming star, Miles Russell, 5 and 4, in singles. The 15-year-old Russell, of course, tied for 20th recently on the Korn Ferry Tour .

“I can’t wait to play in front of big crowds again. I’ve never hit the ball as far as I did at the Ryder Cup,” Kim said in a release. “The adrenaline rush makes golf so much fun. That said, having played that course, and a few more Tour courses, I appreciate the task ahead and look forward to the challenge.”

Kim, who is playing in McKinney on a sponsor exemption, became the first amateur sponsored by CJ Group last May. Managed by Trinifold Sports, Kim also became the first European amateur to sign an NIL deal with Under Armour and the first British amateur to sign with TaylorMade.

Suh, who briefly returned to competition in Europe in 2014 after a 12-year break, told tour officials that she took up golf at age 13 in Seoul after her father forced her to quit tennis.

“My father would take me at five in the morning and I would hit balls all day and my hands would hurt,” she said. “I didn’t like it very much, but my father did. So I continued practicing from the age of 13 and I became very good. Then, I joined the Korean National team, turned professional in 1998 and afterwards I decided to try and play in America.”

Suh recorded two T-15 finishes in 1998 on the LPGA at the Friendly’s Classic and Giant Eagle LPGA Classic.

Her stint in America fell short, she said, because her English wasn’t very good and it was difficult to travel on her own. With no sponsors in the U.S., she ultimately left for the Japan LPGA, where she played for one year until she met her husband and stopped altogether.

That was in 2002. The couple moved to Surrey and Suh took up a teaching career at a local golf course.

While Suh’s path into the game was laid out by her father, Cuddington Golf Club director Paul Schunter told BBC Sport that Kim’s passionate pursuit is self-motivated.

“I’ve never known a more dedicated youngster,” said Schunter, who watched Kim’s game develop as a youngster at Cuddington.

“And he could not have asked for better parents. They have been so encouraging. All the pushing has come from Kris because he has always wanted to play and practice more and more.”

Kim doesn’t have to look far to learn more about how to handle the next step of his career.

“I’ll definitely ask my mum for advice,” he said. “It is going to be a very different environment and you don’t know how you will respond to it. She’ll help me deal with it. She’s my coach and we talk about everything from dealing with nerves, taking one shot at a time, leaving bad shots behind and keeping it simple right through to course strategy.

“My first aim is to make the cut and then see what happens. At the end of the day I’m one of 144 competitors and we’ve all got a chance. Whatever happens, it’s going to be super helpful for my future because I’ll gain so much experience. I know I’m still young and pretty much every week I learn a lesson, but this week is going to be a lot bigger.”

Superheroes weren’t so super at the box office last year.

Deadline reports that four Disney films ranked in the five films with the highest studio net loss for 2023, or what they deemed their “annual bombs section.” While the outlet reported that the Mouse House typically “owns a majority of the year’s top 10 most profitable films thanks to Marvel movies,” this was not the case for 2023.

According to their calculations, the Brie Larson-starring movie The Marvels had a studio net loss of $237 million. Deadline reported at the time that the film earned the franchise $47 million at the box office in its opening weekend, the franchise’s lowest numbers to date.

Disney CEO Bob Iger addressed the film’s box office blunder at The New York Times ‘ Dealbook Summit in November 2023, noting that the film was “shot during Covid,” and that “there wasn’t as much supervision on the set, so to speak, where we have executives [that are] really looking over what’s being done day after day after day.”

Months prior to The Marvels ‘ theatrical release in July 2023, Iger claimed that Marvel’s mass of content on Disney+ was contributing to the franchise’s failure at the box office, telling CNBC’s David Faber that “it diluted focus and attention.”

Iman Vellani , who starred in the film as Ms. Marvel, told Yahoo! Entertainment in November that in terms of the movie’s box office struggles , “I don’t want to focus on something that’s not even in my control, because what’s the point?”

“That’s for Bob Iger,” she added.

While The Marvels was followed by The Flash — a Warner Bros. and DC production with a $155 million studio net loss — in Deadline’s list, three other Disney films ranked just below the two films: Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (-$143 million), Wish (-$131 million), and Haunted Mansion (-$117 million).

Nonetheless, all four Disney films are currently streaming on Disney+.
