“I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for,” the singer said in a statement about the outing that will span her four decades in music while paying respect to New York City, where her musical journey began. Bob the Drag Queen will be the special guest on all the dates.

Tickets go on sale on Friday (Jan. 20) and Jan. 27 at 10 a.m. local time; click here for a complete list of dates and ticketing options. The tour will feature the 64-year-old singer performing songs dating back to her 1983 self-titled debut through her most recent studio album, 2019’s Madame X , marking the star’s first-ever career retrospective outing.

The tour announce came just months after Madonna released her career-spanning compilation album,  Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones , which encompassed her entire dance club career, featuring remixes by top producers and 20 rare recordings officially released for the first time. In 2021, Madonna  signed a deal with Warner Music Group  for an “extensive, multi-year series of catalog releases that will revisit the groundbreaking music that made her an international icon.” Madonna last toured in 2019 and early 2020 on her Madame X theater tour.

Dare Madonna to Go on Her Own Eras Tour?

Portrait of Justin Curto

Madonna is getting back into the groove — of 40 years of hits. The pop icon will go on her first retrospective tour, the Celebration tour, beginning this summer to honor the 40th anniversary of her self-titled debut. And she announced it with a fitting blast from the past: a clip paying homage to her 1991 documentary, Truth or Dare . In it, Madonna plays dirty “truth or dare” over dinner with the most random crew of celebrities one could pull together, from Jack Black to Kate Berlant to a “too stoned for this shit” Lil Wayne, before Amy Schumer dares her to go on a career-spanning tour. “Wait, hold on — that’s a lot of songs,” says the woman with the most top-ten hits of any female artist, at 38. How’s that for a stacked set list?

The 37-date trek through North America and Europe will also feature Madonna’s first arena shows in nearly a decade, since her 2015–16 tour behind Rebel Heart . Tickets go on sale this Friday, January 20. The party kicks off July 15 in Vancouver, with stops in New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles before the North American leg ends in Las Vegas on October 7. (On the proper anniversary of Madonna , July 27, she’ll be in … Tulsa, Oklahoma.) The European leg follows with a London date on October 14, before wrapping in Amsterdam on December 1. Bob the Drag Queen, among the friends in the announcement clip, will open all dates. The tour follows a career-spanning box set from last year, Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones , after Madonna’s last proper album, Madame X , came in 2019. (It’ll also tide us over for Madonna’s self-directed biopic starring Julia Garner .) Find the run of North American dates below — and start praying that your favorite songs make the cut.

What To Expect From Madonna’s The Celebration Tour In 2023

The singer announced new North American dates after postponing the start of her tour due to her June hospitalization.

Madonna's 2023 Celebration Tour: Dates, Tickets, Presale, & Teaser Video

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour isn’t the only greatest hits tour you’ll have to spend money on this year. On Jan. 17, Madonna announced she would be hitting the road for The Celebration Tour, her first greatest hits outing, to celebrate her 40th anniversary as the Queen of Pop . The tour will mark Madge’s first major trek since 2015 and her first tour overall since her Madame X Tour in 2019 (during which she performed only in small theaters).

However, her tour won’t be kicking off right on time. According to a statement shared on Instagram by her manager Guy Oseary, the singer experienced some health issues that resulted in hospitalization. “On Saturday, June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several day stay in the ICU,” he wrote on June 28. “Her health is improving, however, she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected.” On June 29, CNN reported that Madonna had left the hospital and was “in the clear.”

The seven-time Grammy winner issued a statement on July 10 , confirming that she is “on the road to recovery” and the tour will “begin in October” in Europe. “I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets,” she wrote on Instagram. “The current plan is to reschedule the North American leg of the tour ... I couldn’t be more grateful for your care and support.” Rescheduled dates were announced on Aug. 15. The Celebration Tour will now kick off on Oct. 14 in London and hit Europe as scheduled through December, before the North American leg begins on Dec. 13 in Brooklyn and runs through April 2024.

View on Instagram

On The Celebration Tour, Madonna promises to perform hits from her four decades as an artist, from the ’80s cheer of “Holiday” to more recent hits like “Medellín.” “I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for,” Madonna said in a statement. The singer will have a tough time condensing 40 years of hits into one setlist, but if the new tour teaser video is any indication, then classics like “Like A Virgin,” “Open Your Heart,” and “La Isla Bonita” are sure to be included. Read on for everything you need to know about The Celebration Tour.

Madonna’s 2023 Celebration Tour Dates

Tickets for previously scheduled shows will be honored for the new dates, except for a few shows with venue changes. Fans with tickets to the Aug. 27 date at New York’s Madison Square Garden will receive a code to purchase new tickets to her Dec. 16 show at Barclays Center, while ticketholders for her September shows at Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena will get a code for tickets to her rescheduled dates at Kia Forum in March 2024. Additionally, previously planned shows on July 27 in Tulsa, Dec. 22 in Nashville, Jan. 15 in San Francisco, Jan. 18 in Las Vegas, and Jan. 20 in Phoenix had to be canceled due to “scheduling conflicts.” Read the full updated itinerary below.

Madonna’s 2023 Celebration Tour Teaser

To announce the tour, Madonna enlisted A-list stars and friends — including Amy Schumer, Judd Apatow, Jack Black, Lil Wayne, Diplo, Kate Berlant, Larry Owens, Meg Stalter, Eric Andre, and tour opener Bob the Drag Queen — for a very rowdy dinner party. The singer played a game of Truth or Dare, in honor of her 1992 documentary, during which she made out with Black and had Diplo stick his privates in a margarita, among other typical Monday night antics.

The video ends with Schumer, who opened for Madonna’s 2015 Rebel Heart Tour shows in New York, daring her to “do a world tour and play your greatest motherf*cking hits.” Naturally, after her guests promised to attend, Madge responded with a “F*ck yeah.”

Per a press release, ‘The Celebration Tour’ will take fans on Madonna’s artistic journey through four decades and pay homage to the city of New York where her career in music began.

Bob The Drag Queen (aka Caldwell Tidicue) is billed as a special guest opening act across all dates.

It was reported last week that Madonna was plotting a run of celebratory shows to mark her four decades in music .

Madonna released her 14th and most recent studio album, ‘Madame X’ , back in 2019. The singer showcased that record with an intimate residency at the London Palladium in early 2020.

In a five-star review of one of her concerts in Brooklyn, New York in October 2019 , NME praised “pop’s ultimate freedom fighter [for] putting on one of the most powerful, empowering, and stunning gigs of the year”.

Last summer, Madonna said she had no plans to sell her extensive back catalogue as numerous legacy acts have done in recent years. “Ownership is everything, isn’t it?” she reasoned.

“I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for,” says Madonna, who has long resisted delving fully into her legendary back catalog in a live setting. The 40 Greatest Music Video Artists

The Celebration Tour is Madonna’s first outing since the 2019-2020 run of shows in support of her album Madame X . Those dates were hampered by a Madonna back injury that forced several cancellations, and their set lists were dominated by 11 or 12 songs nightly from the album and only a handful of tracks from earlier classic releases.

The new tour was revealed through a video harkening back to Madonna’s 1991 documentary Truth or Dare , with the artist cajoling celebrities such as Amy Schumer, Eric Andre, Diplo, a very stoned Lil Wayne, and Jack Black to perform a variety of sex-related activities.

Madonna has also been immersed behind the scenes in her long-in-the-works biopic , which she will direct herself. No casting or release date for the project has been announced.

Madonna has announced a major world tour marking her 40th anniversary, including a show at London's O2 Arena.

The announcement comes after weeks of speculation the Queen of Pop had been planning something big to celebrate her career since the release of her self-titled debut album, which launched her on the path to stardom with hits including Holiday, Lucky Star and Borderline.

Writing on Instagram - after previously clearing her page to make way for the news - Madonna simply said: "Come join the party!" In a statement sent to Sky News, she said: "I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for."

The Celebration tour will feature the 64-year-old artist's four decades of greatest hits, starting in Vancouver, Canada, on 15 July. The star will play gigs across Canada and the US between July and October, before launching the European leg at the O2 on 14 October.

She will follow this with shows in cities including Barcelona, Paris and Berlin, finishing in Amsterdam on 1 December - taking in 35 cities in total.

Tickets will likely sell out quickly, so it is possible there could be an announcement of further shows to come.

As the tour was revealed on big screens featuring clips from her back-catalogue in London, Madonna also released a video featuring stars including Diplo, Judd Apatow, Jack Black, Lil Wayne and Bob The Drag Queen, culminating with Amy Schumer daring the star to take on the tour of her career so far.

Madonna is one of the biggest-selling artists of all time and the best-selling female artist in the world, holding numerous records in the US and UK - with 13 number one singles in the UK she has more than any other female artist, as well as 12 number one albums.

In 2022, she became the first woman to chart in the US Billboard top 10 in every decade since the 1980s.

Her last tour was the smaller Madame X tour in 2019 and 2020, which saw the star performing at more intimate theatre venues. However, the shows were delayed due to the singer suffering knee and hip problems, and some were cancelled due to the pandemic. This time round, she will be on stage at major arenas, including Madison Square Garden in New York.

'She needs no introduction'

Over the years, Madonna has been known for continuously reinventing her music and her image, with hits including Like A Virgin, Into The Groove, Papa Don't Preach and Like A Prayer in the 1980s; Vogue, Justify My Love, Erotica and Frozen in the 1990s; and Music, Hung Up, Sorry, and collaborations with Britney Spears (Me Against The Music) and Justin Timberlake (4 Minutes) in the 2000s.

Her first greatest hits album, The Immaculate Collection, released in 1990, is one of the best-selling albums of all time, with reported sales of around 30 million. Overall, she is reported to have sold up to 300 million records worldwide.

A multi-Grammy, Brit and Ivor Novello winning performer, she was also inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2008, her first year of eligibility, for which she was described in her introduction as "the record-setting, line-crossing, sexuality-flaunting, ever-evolving Material Girl".

It continued: "Madonna is an icon. With her larger than life persona and penchant for provocation, she needs no introduction."

As well as her music, the star is almost as famous for pushing boundaries with fashion and her choices of controversial and even explicit outfits over the decades.

In the early days of her career, she pioneered the "underwear as outerwear" trend by wearing a corset bodysuit with conical bra cups, designed by Jean Paul Gaultier, and in 1992 published Sex, a book of erotic photographs.

In 2016, she attended the Met Gala in a bondage-inspired Givenchy outfit featuring leather, lace, thigh-high boots, a thong and nipple pasties; in 2021, she hit out at Instagram for taking down provocative photographs in which her nipple was exposed.

In 2022, the singer revisited a number of tracks which made her an international star, including a new take on her 1998 classic Frozen, which she recorded with Canadian musician Sickick, and a remix of her dance hit Hung Up with Dominican rapper Tokischa.

It followed a reformed partnership with her previous long-time record label Warner Music Group, which produced her debut single in 1982.

Madonna to Embark on 40th Anniversary Tour: Report

Coinciding with the anniversary of the pop icon's 1983 debut

Madonna to Embark on 40th Anniversary Tour: Report

Madonna debuted with her very first album in 1983, and as Billboard reports, the Queen of Pop is planning to celebrate the milestone by embarking on a 40th anniversary tour.

The music icon is planning her as-yet-unannounced 40th anniversary tour — her first-ever live trek to serve as a career retrospective — with her longtime manager Guy Oseary. “It’s going to be the biggest tour she’s ever done,” one source told Billboard,  featuring music from the entirety of her career. The tour will include both stadium and arena dates, reportedly including a multi-night run at the O2 in London.

The upcoming tour comes after Madonna re-signed to Warner Music Group and agreed to launch an “extensive, multi-year series of catalog reissues.” Still, the legendary pop star won’t be selling her catalog any time soon, explaining last year, “Because they’re my songs. Ownership is everything, isn’t it?” The same goes for a biopic about the artist that Madonna plans to co-write and direct herself. “No one’s going to tell my story, but me,” she said. Clearly, then, Madonna’s next tour will be created on her own terms.

Last year, Madonna allowed Beyoncé to sample her iconic 1990 track “Vogue” for a cross-generational pop moment in Queen Bey’s “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix).” In honor of the Material Girl’s 64th birthday, we updated our list of her Top 20 Songs .

Now, she’s preparing to open the global trek in London, with insiders suggesting new music is also on the cards.

“Her last record, ‘Madame X’, dropped in 2019, but it’s no secret Madonna has been in the studio a lot over the past few years,” they told The Sun’s Bizarre column.

“She has a lot of new material saved up ready to go. And the start of the tour seems a perfect time to drop a new track – especially after the last few months.

“Think of it almost as a gift to her fans for helping pull her through one of the scariest moments of her life.”

With the concerts set to big in London and play across Europe through December. Madonna has confirmed the new Stateside dates will take place following the UK and European leg , into 2024.

On the back of her hospitalisation,  Madonna shared a note online , thanking fans for their “positive energy, prayers and words of healing and encouragement”.

She added: “I have felt your love. I’m on the road to recovery and incredibly grateful for all the blessings in my life.

“My first thought when I woke up in the hospital was my children. My second thought was that I did not want to disappoint anyone who bought tickets for my tour. I also didn’t want to let down the people who worked tirelessly with me over the last few months to create my show. I hate to disappoint anyone.

“My focus now is my health and getting stronger and I assure you, I’ll be back with you as soon as I can! The current plan is to reschedule the North American leg of the tour and to begin in October in Europe. I couldn’t be more grateful for your care and support. Love, M.”
