Mountain biking in Iceland is about going to the untouched areas, only birds, sheep, hikers and arctic foxes travel through. And yes, breathtaking views, epic descends and challenging climbs. Up and down volcanos, across rivers and creeks. Enjoy views so untouched and vast it defies description. Black volcanic pumice sands and lava fields. And the quiet….it’s like being transported to an alternate universe created just for you and your bike.

Most of our day tours are for moderate to advanced riders. All our multi-day mountain bike tours are advanced, requiring advanced skill levels and comfort with reasonably technical climbs and descends.

We require you to have the ability to hike your bike over the worst obstacles. You should also have the endurance to ride 4-6 hours a day, for the active days. All of our groups are small and manageable allowing our guides to pick alternative routes based on riders conditions, weather and any unforeseen events.

ÞJÓRSÁRDALUR, THE LOCALS FAVORITE STUNNING SCENERY INCLUDING A CLOSE VIEW OF THE MOST GRACEFUL WATERFALL OF ICELAND Early departure from Reykjavik and about 3 hours drive to the mountains along Iceland’s fantastic South Coast. This legendary ride starts from Iceland’s second-highest waterfall, Háifoss, which plunges 122 meters off the edge of a plateau and ends in the Gjáin Valley. This is a place full of twisting lava, spectacular waterfalls and otherworldly caves. The ride of the day is on one of the most remote mountain road of the highlands which end at our mountain hut where we will stay for two nights.

Ride: distance 20 km elevation: gain / loss 470 m, the volcano desert of dómadalur there is nothing that match a mtb ride in this area of ever changing mythical landscape today’s ride is on an old mountain road under the looming shadow of the infamous volcano hekla. this route passes along the edge of a moss-covered lava field and a black volcanic wasteland evoking the sense of being “lost in the wilderness.”, ride: distance 50 km elevation: gain / loss 970 m, landmannalaugar, the highlands oasis famous for its palette of pastel colored mountains and epic single track trails the stunning area of landmannalaugar, famous for its palette of pastel colored mountains is the home of the most epic single tracks trails in iceland. the word “undulant” is probably the best one to explain what characterize the rides here. we will have multiple 100 – 300m climbs and some shorts hike-a-bike sections during the day. we will end the day by a soak in a warm natural pool. truly amazing tour that will leave you with a life long memory of a fantastic adventure, ride: distance 26 km elevation: gain / loss 690 m, there is always possibility of alterations to the itinerary, here above, as weather or terrain conditions dictate. this is for your own good to improve the trip quality and ensure that we choose the best ride that suits each day..

Introducing “GEO TRAILS,” our intermediate e-mountain bike adventure tour. Experience a quality full-suspension e-MTB while exploring the picturesque surroundings near Hveragerði village. This fun and easy day tour is suitable for all active people that love the outdoors. We’ll be covering 10-15km in 1-2 hours, the trip duration depends on your preferred speed and distance.

The trails showcase the Geothermal energy bubbling below our feet plus lava fields, small waterfalls, rivers and steamy mudpools. Riding an e-MTB is a fun way to explore nature and getting a little help with pedalling uphill is a great way to experience this mesmorising landscape. We make frequent stops to take everything in; the views, the silence, the smell. And then we head on, smile on our faces.

ABOUT THE TOUR

See everything the charming town of vík has to offer on this short, but action-packed e-bike adventureof the tour.

We start at the Katlatrack Base, where we will cycle through the village before heading up the old mountain road to the top of Reynisfjall, our local mountain.

We’ll traverse the trail along the east side of the mountain, taking in the amazing views of Vík, the black sand beaches, Hjörleifshöfði before finally stopping at the edge of the mountains where the greatest view awaits us, the world famous black sand beach Reynisfjara, with the towering black pillars just off the coast. In the distance we’ll see Dyrhólaey with its famous stone arch.

From there we’ll cycle back to Vík, having seen all the main attractions of the area in one amazing bike tour.

Exciting 2-3 hour Small-Group E-Mountain Bike Ride on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula

Description

Explore the spectacular landscape around the Snaefellsnes peninsula on an e-mountain bike when you book this exciting day tour, for just up to four people. Those eager to embark on a new adventure in Iceland's beautiful scenery while getting active should book this group tour now.

On this small group e-mountain bike tour, you'll get the opportunity to get to know Iceland from a unique perspective. Experience the country's natural beauty on two wheels.

Your adventure will start by meeting your guide at the e-mountain bike base camp, located just outside of Stykkisholmur, a small fishing town on the north coast of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. 

This settlement is home to picturesque scenery, historic Icelandic houses, and plenty of local folklore, typical for the area.

Here, your guide will give you a safety briefing. Your guide will also give you your helmet and the other safety equipment you'll need for the ride. 

Your guide will then teach you how to operate your bike – don't worry, it's easy! Electric mountain bikes are great for exploring different terrain.

They provide additional power during pedaling (useful when going uphill!), and you still get all the thrills that you'd expect from everyday mountain biking.

Then it's time for you to set off. The fitness levels of the group will determine the pace of the ride. However, you'll need to be moderately fit to embark so that everyone can get their adrenalin pumping.

On the route, you'll explore the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Snaefellsnes is a long peninsula that is home to a spectacular volcano and a glacier named Snaefellsjokull. 

This area is often called "Iceland in a nutshell" because it's got it all! You'll find examples of all the natural features Iceland is known for, including fantastic mountains, black beaches, long white sand beaches, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, and lava fields.

There are also tranquil fishing hamlets, villages, and towns along the peninsula, not to mention stunning views of the rugged coastline.

During the small-group tour, you'll ride through the fantastic Berserkjahraun, a 4,000-year-old lava field full of peaks and craters for you to explore. The area is located between the towns of Stykkisholmur and Grundarfjordur.

You'll have plenty of opportunities to stop and enjoy the incredible views and take some photographs during the ride. You'll want to remember your ride for years to come!
