While Miami is known as the cruise capital of the world, another cruise port in Florida shouldn’t be forgotten. Port Canaveral is the second busiest cruise port. In fact, it processes over 4.5 million passengers each year with more growth on the horizon.

If you are planning a cruise from this eastern Florida location, we have our complete Guide to the Port Canaveral Cruise Port to help answer many frequently asked questions.

Top Things to Do Near Port Canaveral, Florida on a Cruise

Cruise Lines That Sail From Port Canaveral

The Port Canaveral Cruise Port has five main cruise terminals, with the new Terminal 3 scheduled to debut. This terminal is ready and waiting to process passengers sailing on the brand new Carnival Mardi Gras once cruising resumes.

When arriving at the Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal for your cruise, there will be large electronic signs directing passengers to the correct terminals.

For a general sense of the area, the port is divided into North and South sides. The North side, or A terminals, include terminals 5, 6, 8, and 10. The South side, or B terminals, include 1, 2, and 3.

Port Canaveral Cruise Port

Cruise Terminal 1 is the location for most Royal Caribbean cruise ships that sail from Port Canaveral. Currently, Royal Caribbean has plans for Allure of the Seas, Harmony of the Seas , Independence of the Seas, and Mariner of the Seas to cruise from Port Canaveral.

Cruise Terminal 3 is the brand new cruise terminal set to process Carnival Mardi Gras passengers. This $163 million project includes a 188,000 square foot terminal and an adjacent garage accommodating 1,800 cars.

Cruise Terminals 5 and 6 also primarily service Carnival Cruise Line, as this brand usually has the most ships sailing out of Port Canaveral. Currently, Carnival plans to have Elation, Liberty, and Magic sailing from this cruise port.

This is of course in addition to the brand new Mardi Gras.

Cruise Terminal 8 is where Disney Cruise Line’s ships depart. Given Port Canaveral’s proximity to Walt Disney World in Orlando, it’s no surprise that Disney Cruise Line would have a few ships in this location.

Currently, Disney Cruise Line is scheduled to sail Disney Dream and Fantasy from Port Canaveral.

Cruise Terminal 10 services Norwegian Cruise Line. According to Norwegian Cruise Line’s website, Norwegian Escape is the only ship currently scheduled to sail from Port Canaveral once cruising resumes.

Of note, MSC Cruises will begin sailing from Port Canaveral for the first time as well. This cruise line will offer sailings on Seaside and Divina from Port Canaveral beginning in 2021.

Flying to Port Canaveral for a Cruise

Port Canaveral’s not far from the Bahamas. So, this cruise port is popular for short 3 and 4-day cruises. These cruises often visit cruise line private islands such as Royal Caribbean’s Perfect Day at CocoCay ,.

Several popular cruises also visit Norwegian Cruise Line’s Great Stirrup Cay , or Disney’s Castaway Cay.

While many Florida locals do drive to the port, many cruisers still fly here for cruise vacations. The closest airport to Port Canaveral is MCO. Orlando International Airport hosts plenty of airlines from destinations across the country.

Port Canaveral Cruise Port

So, you shouldn’t have a problem finding a flight.

This airport is located approximately 45 minutes from Port Canaveral. Thus, you should plan your flights appropriately if you plan to fly in the day of your cruise.

Though, we never recommend doing so. We always recommend cruisers fly the day before to avoid any potential travel delays.

Related Post: How to Budget for a Cruise

Once you arrive at the airport, you will have several transportation methods. Some of these options will depend on whether you fly in the day before or the day of your cruise.

Transportation to and from the Port Canaveral Cruise Port

As mentioned previously, if you live within driving distance of Port Canaveral, you will likely be driving to the cruise terminal. If you are driving, we will discuss parking options a bit later. However, there are several other transportation options available.

If you are arriving the day of your cruise, a cruise line transfer from the airport might be the easiest option, though likely not the cheapest.

Many cruise lines offer an option to book this transportation pre-cruise. Once at the airport, a cruise line representative will greet you at baggage claim and escort you and your luggage to the check-in area. After checking-in, you will board the next departing bus to the ship.

Disney Cruise Line Motorcoach

These transfers will run upwards of $35 per person and do run on set time schedules.

There are also several independent shuttle options. These shuttle options may include shuttles from the airport to the cruise terminal and/or hotel shuttles from the airport. These shuttle services tend to be cheaper than transportation arranged through the cruise line.

Some of these options include Contrans Shuttle Service , Cocoa Beach Shuttle , and Mears Transportation . Of course, some hotels themselves offer transportation, sometimes complimentary, from the airport. Most often, these shuttles are a shared service and run on a set time schedule.

SAVE ON BAHAMAS CRUISES FOR 2022!

Shared Ride Services are probably the most popular form of transportation in recent years. Popular apps like Uber and Lyft are allowed to pick-up/drop-off passengers at both the airport and the cruise port.

The cost of using these services varies base on the type of vehicle you choose but average between $60-$90. So, depending on your party size and amount of luggage, this option may or may not save you money. While Uber or Lyft are convenient and often cheaper, the issue is quality control among drivers.

GoPort is another nice option offering packages that can include hotel accommodations, airport transportation, and cruise transfers for one set price. The company also offers shared shuttle service from the airport to the cruise port for as low as $19.99.

Parking at the Port Canaveral Cruise Port

If you are driving to the Port Canaveral Cruise Port, the Official Port Canaveral Cruise Parking is the most convenient option available. This “official” cruise parking is the only area directly adjacent to each of Port Canaveral’s cruise terminals.

With this option, you can park at your cruise terminal’s designated parking garage and simply take a short walk to your ship. The current parking rate is $17 per day, including day of arrival and day of departure.

Cruise News June 12, 2016

The Port does not own or operate any off-site parking facilities. Though, independent off-site parking lots can be a cheaper option. This will entail taking a shuttle from the lot to the cruise terminal.

One of these options is the GoPort Plaza . Packages start at a flat fee of $55, plus $5 for each additional traveler. For a week-long cruise for two, this would be over 50% savings.

Park Port Canaveral and Canaveral Cruise Parking are other options as well.

Of course, if you opt for a pre-cruise stay in a hotel, many hotels also offer cruise and stay packages which can include parking.

Hotels Near Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal

When preparing for your cruise, you should consider planning a pre-cruise stay before the vacation.

When cruising from Port Canaveral, you will have a number of hotel options. You could opt to stay closer to the Orlando airport and make the commute to the port in the morning.

Or, you could choose a hotel that is located closer to the port or nearby Cocoa Beach. Better yet, you could spend a few days at Disney World or Universal Studios before your cruise.

Given the proximity to Orlando, one of the obvious choices is to visit your favorite theme park. Walt Disney World and Universal Studios are both located about an hour away. Walt Disney World is home to the popular Magic Kingdom theme park and Epcot which hosts various festivals throughout the year like the Food and Wine Festival. We have an overnight stop at Port Canaveral, are there buses to take us to Disney World from the port?

Norwegian Cruise Line signs new deal with Port Canaveral involving Escape, Getaway, Prima

norwegian cruise port canaveral

Port Canaveral commissioners have unanimously approved a new two-year operating agreement with Norwegian Cruise Line that will bring more guaranteed revenue to the port.

The agreement guarantees a minimum of 45 home-port sailings a year by NCL out of Port Canaveral, as well as a minimum annual payment of "passenger use charge" fees of $3,375,000 in the first year and $3,499,425 in the second year.

The guarantee is nearly twice the minimum of 23 sailings a year under the previous agreement.

The new agreement allows NCL ships to conduct cruise operations primarily at Cruise Terminals 5 and 10.

The vessel schedule covers three seasonal home-port ships — the Norwegian Escape, Getaway and Prima — as well as certain port-of-call and affiliate ships.

Shift in plans: Norwegian Getaway ship drops planned Russian itinerary, to move to Port Canaveral in June

Joining the lineup: Norwegian Escape rejoins Port Canaveral cruise lineup, giving port record fifth brand

  • The Escape is 164,998 tons; has a passenger capacity of 4,266, based on double-occupancy of its cabins; and has a crew of 1,733. It was built in 2015.
  • The Getaway is 145,655 tons; has a passenger capacity of 3,963, based on double-occupancy of its cabins; and has a crew of 1,646. It was built in 2014 and refurbished in 2020.
  • The Prima is 142,500 tons; has a passenger capacity of 3,215, based on double-occupancy of its cabins; and has a crew of 1,388. It is scheduled to start sailing later this year.

Port Canaveral Chief Executive Officer John Murray noted that the Getaway rejoined the port lineup on June 27, offering seven-night sailings.

"For a last-minute addition to the port, the ship is sailing very, very strong on passenger counts," operating at nearly 100% of its double-capacity occupancy, Murray said.

The Getaway previously had been scheduled to sail this summer out of a home-port of Copenhagen, Denmark, on a northern European itinerary that included a port-of-call stop in St. Petersburg, Russia. Norwegian changed its plans due to the Russia-Ukraine war.

"So we're really glad to have the ship back," Murray said. " And it looks like a successful summer for Norwegian Cruise Line."

As part of the port's deal with Norwegian, the cruise line will be charged an initial passenger use charge of $13.09 per passenger movement for its sailings. That payment will be in lieu of dockage, wharfage, line-handling and harbormaster fees. The passenger use charge is subject to adjustment annually on Oct. 1.

In discussing the port's deal with Norwegian, Murray said: "This new agreement is testament to the confidence Norwegian Cruise Line has in Port Canaveral. With great partners like Norwegian, the port continues to grow and invest in our future for the benefit our port community."

These are the sailing schedules of the three ships out of Port Canaveral, under the agreement:

  • Norwegian Escape:  Nov. 19, 2022, to April 15, 2023. Then Nov. 18, 2023, to April 6, 2024.
  • Norwegian Getaway: June 27, 2022, to Aug. 27, 2022. Then Sept. 29, 2022, to  Dec. 11, 2022. Then April 17, 2023, to Aug. 26, 2023.
  • Norwegian Prima:  Dec. 11, 2022, to March 26, 2023.

Strengthening cruise business

Port Canaveral Chief Financial Officer Michael Poole said the port's overall cruise business continues to strengthen, with its home-ported ships now sailing at an average of 90% to more than 100% of their double-occupancy capacity. Ships can sail at more than 100% of double-occupancy capacity because cruise lines can book three or four passengers in some cabins.

In its 2021-22 budget projections, made last summer, the port had been projecting cruise ship passenger counts at 50% of double-occupancy capacity for October through December 2021. The port increase the figure to 75% of double-occupancy capacity for January through September 2022.

Poole said those targets were exceeded in October through December 2021; fell short in January through March 2022; then were exceeded in April and May 2022.

"Everybody is doing well right now," Murray said.

On Thursday, the new Disney Wish will have its first regular sailing out of Port Canaveral, offering three- and four-night sailings. The Wish is Disney's first cruise ship powered by liquefied natural gas.

Revenue projections exceeded

Poole said the port's combined revenue from cruise ships and cruise passenger parking was $59.89 million for the first eight months of the current budget year (October 2021 through May 2022). That's about $3.97 million over the projected budget amount.

Five cruise lines sail out of Port Canaveral — Carnival, Disney, MSC, Norwegian  and Royal Caribbean — using six cruise terminals.

"All of our cruise assets, all the terminals, they're being optimally used," Poole said.

The port's overall operating revenue — including revenue from cruise, cargo, leases, recreation and other business lines — totaled $78.55 million for the first eight months of the current budget year. That's $6.09 million above budget projections.

Poole said the port's profit — or "change in net position" — so far this year is $43.10 million.

The profits have been boosted largely by federal American Rescue Plan Act grant payments that have totaled $23.57 million so far this budget year, plus federal and state grants totaling $12.67 million related to a North Cargo Berth 3 project.

Where to Park at Norwegian Cruise Port Canaveral

When embarking on a cruise from Port Canaveral, one important aspect to consider is where to park your vehicle. Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) offers remarkable itineraries departing from this bustling port, making it vital for passengers to find convenient and secure parking options. Located just 45 minutes east of Orlando, Port Canaveral serves as a gateway to unparalleled vacation experiences aboard NCL's luxurious ships. From nearby parking garages and lots to off-site parking facilities with shuttle services, there are several choices to suit every passenger's needs. By exploring the various parking options in advance, cruisers can eliminate stress, save time, and make the most of their cruise vacation.

Do You Have to Reserve Parking at Port Canaveral Cruise Terminal?

When planning a cruise from Port Canaveral, one important aspect to consider is where to park your vehicle during your trip. While you cant prepay for parking at the Port Canaveral cruise terminals themselves, you do have the option of reserving your parking ahead of time at various off-site parking lots. Port Canaveral Parking is one such option that allows you to prepay and secure your parking spot in advance.

Choosing to park at a nearby off-site parking lot offers several advantages. Firstly, it provides a secure location to leave your car for the duration of your cruise. These off-site lots often offer 24/7 security measures, including surveillance cameras and staff on-site. This ensures peace of mind while you enjoy your cruise vacation.

Additionally, prepaying and reserving your parking spot ahead of time can save you both time and money. By taking care of this aspect in advance, you won’t have to worry about finding an available spot upon your arrival. This can be particularly helpful during peak travel seasons when parking spaces can fill up quickly. Plus, by reserving in advance, you may be able to take advantage of discounted rates or special promotions.

Port Canaveral offers convenient parking options for passengers at a rate of $17.00 per day, which covers both the day of arrival and the day of departure. This provides travelers with flexibility and ease when it comes to parking their vehicles while embarking on their cruise.

How Much Is Parking at NCL Port Canaveral?

Finding parking at the Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) Port Canaveral is a relatively straightforward process. Passengers have the option to either drop off their luggage in front of the terminal or park in the designated parking facility. The parking rate at the port is $17.00 per day, which includes both the day of arrival and the day of departure.

The convenience of the parking facility allows passengers to have their vehicle parked securely for the duration of their cruise. This gives them peace of mind knowing that their car is in a safe and monitored area. The parking lot is conveniently located near the terminal, making it easily accessible for passengers when embarking or disembarking from their cruise.

One important tip for passengers is to arrive early to secure a parking spot, especially during peak travel seasons. The port tends to be quite busy, so it’s always a good idea to plan ahead and give yourself plenty of time to find a parking space. Being aware of busy travel periods, such as holidays or school vacation times, can help you plan accordingly and ensure a smooth parking experience.

It’s also worth noting that the parking rates are subject to change, so it’s always a good idea to double-check the current pricing before your trip. This can be done by checking the official Port Canaveral website or contacting the port directly for the most up-to-date information.

With the peace of mind that comes with knowing your vehicle is in a secure parking lot, you can focus on enjoying your cruise and making the most of your vacation experience.

By exploring various parking facilities such as the Port Canaveral official parking garages, off-site parking lots, or hotel parking options, you can easily locate a secure and cost-effective parking solution. Carefully considering factors such as proximity to the terminal, shuttle services, and reservation requirements will help you make an informed decision. Whether you opt for the official parking garages for peace of mind or choose the convenience of off-site parking options, planning ahead and reserving your parking spot in advance will save you time and stress on the day of embarkation. Ultimately, the right parking choice will allow you to begin your Norwegian cruise vacation with ease and excitement.

NCL Shuttle pick up times at Orlando airport

By Upper Deck Dad , June 25, 2022 in Norwegian Cruise Line

Cool Cruiser

Upper Deck Dad

What time does the NCL shuttle transfer to the Port of Canaveral pick up at the Orlando airport? Is there more than one shuttle?

The ship leaves the port at 6:00pm on a Saturday. Obviously, no real rush to get there.

We get in late the night before and are staying at the airport, so we'll already be at the airport the next morning.  Don't want to transfer to the port at night after the plane lands.

Thanks in advance.

All day back and forth.

Keep in mind first shuttles will be from ship full with departing passengers.

Only issue with shuttle is they don't leave till full as a rule.

Transfers not tied directly to a flight can be a little tricky - I'm assuming you made your own flight arrangements?  You have a few options.

I believe you can enter your flight info when you do your check-in.  Find a flight that arrives when you want to leave and enter it, they will be expecting you near baggage check when that flight arrives.

Go to your roll call and ask when others with NCL flights are arriving - again, show up at baggage claim.

Or you can wing it and just search for a NCL representative near baggage claim. 8:30 or 9 seems to be a common starting time for busses but I've seen representatives as early as 6am.

In any case, make sure you have your edocs with your transfer info - sometimes their list isn't accurate, especially if you booked the transfer but not your flight through NCL.

The "Shuttle" are full size 50-passenger motor coaches. The first motor coach is not allowed to leave until the ship is cleared for boarding (around 10:30 am).

The buses leave when they are full. Since there are a lot of people arriving early in the morning, the first buses leave quickly once released. Later, you may have to wait for a bus to fill.

If your ship sails at 6:00 pm, all aboard is 4:00 pm. The trip from MCO to the port is 45 minutes to an hour (depending on traffic). So the last bus would be 2:30ish (maybe a bit later). So, be careful with the "no rush" since you may be left catching a taxi, hoping that they allow you to board the ship if you miss the last bus.

We did this last November. Stayed overnight at the airport. We were told first shuttle would leave at 11am...got to the lounge at 10am and were put straight on a shuttle...took 45mins...did our covid test and then straight on the ship a good hour before our check in time.

They run every hour or so but will leave as soon as they are full.

Our cruise out of Port Canaveral leaves on Saturday November 19 at 4pm, and we are flying in the day before and staying at an airport area hotel. We haven't booked a shuttle yet. Does it matter which one we book? Is it important to book the shuttle through NCL? I've seen other shuttles that are cheaper that the $75 round trip that NCL charges. And where do we meet the shuttle busses?

Depends on the shuttle. Some will pick you up at the hotel.

Others from airport.

Uber may be a good option.

Our hotel offers a free shuttle back to the airport, but my question is where at the airport do we catch the shuttle to the cruise port?

Arrival terminals usually but....they may also have a dedicated parking slot at each terminal for shuttle pick up

If you book the shuttle through NCL they tell you where to meet in the airport.

We stayed at an airport hotel the night prior to our PC cruise and had a shuttle pick us up at the hotel. No need to go back to the airport.  There are many shuttle options on the Florida Departures forum on Cruise Critic. We chose a private car service that was great...met us in the lobby, loaded our luggage and we had a very relaxing start to our cruise. Took the NCL shuttle back to PC as we needed to go to the airport to rent a car. First bus left PC at 9am, we were at MCO by 9:50 and as soon as we were off, they started reloading to go back.

I'll check into doing it this way. It makes the most sense to go straight from the hotel to the port. Thanks!

Just for your information, I was checking on a package for my daughter who lives in NC. Check out Go Port on google. I booked her a hotel and transportation package. She lands in Orlando and calls the hotel (La Quinta), they come to the airport and pick her up to take her to the hotel. The next morning she gets a free breakfast and the hotel shuttle bus takes her to Port Canaveral to meet us for the cruise. After the cruise, a bus transports her to the Orlando airport to fly back home. All this comes to $201 including the hotel. I can't say how the service or the hotel will be, but I thought it would be worth a try.

There’s a reason cruise lines want to know your full travel itinerary if they didn’t book it for you.   I’ve never gotten off a plane and gone to baggage claim without a cruise shuttle person coming and looking for me.   They know your flight number.  They don’t want you on board any later than you do.  And there are shuttles making the rounds at the hotels as well.

Norwegian Cruise Line cancels more than a dozen upcoming cruises

TAMPA, Fla. ( WFLA ) — Norwegian Cruise Line has canceled more than a dozen cruises for 2025.

A spokesperson from the cruise line told Nexstar’s WFLA that the cancelations were “a result of varied events including the ongoing situation in the Red Sea and Israel, modified dry dock schedules for ship enhancements, a full ship charter, and lastly, to accommodate the demand for shorter close-to-home voyages to the Bahamas.”

The canceled cruises include:

  • Norwegian Epic – Feb. 20, 2025, Nov. 1, 2025, Nov. 11, 2025
  • Norwegian Jade – Mar. 4, 2025, Mar. 13, 2025, Mar. 24, 2025
  • Norwegian Pearl – Apr. 19, 2025, May 5, 2025, May 16, 2025, Oct. 15, 2025
  • Norwegian Sky – May 27, 2025, Jun. 5, 2025
  • Norwegian Spirit – Jan. 1, 2025, May 17, 2025
  • Norwegian Star – May 18, 2025, May 29, 2025, Jun. 9, 2025,
  • Norwegian Viva – May 27, 2025, Sep. 20, 2025, Sep. 29, 2025

According to Cruise Industry News , the canceled cruises were set to visit the Western and Eastern Mediterranean, the Caribbean, the Adriatic Sea, the Middle East, the Red Sea, Asia and Northern Europe.

The February Norwegian Epic sailing was set to depart from Port Canaveral. Norwegian’s website shows a new sailing on the Epic is scheduled for Feb. 15 to Feb. 22, 2025.

“We are committed to providing exceptional vacation experiences, both aboard our ships and by taking our guests to some of the most sought-out destinations around the world. While we try to maintain original itineraries as much as possible, at times modifications are made to optimize the itinerary, enhance the guest experience or accommodate certain circumstances,” a spokesperson said.

Norwegian Cruise Line said affected passengers will receive a full refund and a 10 percent discount that can be used on any sailing through Dec. 31, 2025.

6 Best Cruises Out Of Port Canaveral

By Zachary Laks | Published on April 9, 2024

It's time to start planning your next big vacation. Whether you're looking for a weekend getaway, a family-friendly vacation or an extended voyage, you'll find cruises out of Port Canaveral, Florida that tick all your boxes.

When considering one of the cruises out of Port Canaveral, plan extra time before and after your sailing to soak up all the fun that the area has to offer. There's so much to do in Orlando that you could stay for several days and never get bored — music to your ears if you're traveling with children. One of the best things about Orlando cruises is that you have your choice of theme parks to round out your vacation. They're expansive and immersive escapes into playful worlds, not unlike a great cruise. I love tacking on an extra day or two at an Orlando theme park, usually before my cruise departs. I always appreciate the days of racking up thousands of steps traversing a theme park before boarding a cruise, where I know I'll be able to lounge on a deck or relax in a hot tub.

Not far from Port Canaveral, the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is a great place to spend a day admiring the vast scope of NASA. The center offers one-of-a-kind immersion into space exploration, including the chance to strap into a rocket launch simulator for an adrenaline-pumping thrill.

For those seeking a more peaceful retreat before boarding their cruises out of Orlando, Port Canaveral is near the white sands of Cocoa Beach. Spend the day enjoying calm, low waves — great for year-round swimming, learning to surf and kayaking alongside manatees and dolphins. Or take a seat on an airboat ride through the wetlands for encounters with alligators and, depending on the season, bald eagles, herons and osprey.

Ready to book a cruise to Port Canaveral? Here are the six best cruises from Port Canaveral.

Serene Clear Cocoa Beach, Cape Canaveral, Florida

1. Best For A Long Weekend

Coco Beach Club Beach Cabanas Mom and Daughter Tanning, Perfect Day at Coco Cay

Set to launch in the summer of 2024, Utopia of the Seas ℠ will be the sixth Oasis Class ship, Royal Caribbean's class of ships packed with adventure and entertainment. The new ship will focus on three- and four-night cruises from its year-round home port in Port Canaveral, with onboard upgrades that include reimagined pool decks, a Giovanni's℠ Italian Kitchen that spans two decks (try the osso buco!) and the new Pesky Parrot tiki bar, serving fruity cocktails on the Royal Promenade. This itinerary  to the Bahamas on Utopia of the Seas ℠ is the best for a long weekend exploring the highlights of The Bahamas, with a day in Nassau followed by a day at Perfect Day at CocoCay , Royal Caribbean's private island destination.

2. Best For Beach Lovers

Colorful buildings along the coast, Willemstad, Curacao

This exquisite itinerary to the Southern Caribbean on Adventure of the Seas ® routes you to the farthest corner of the Caribbean for some of its best beaches. Sailing on the Adventure of the Seas ® for eight nights from Port Canaveral, you'll stop in ports such as Oranjestad, Aruba; Willemstad, Curaçao; and Kralendijk, Bonaire. Each port will welcome you with easily accessible, powdery sand beaches primed for world-class swimming, snorkeling and diving. You'll have your pick of 86 dive sites at Bonaire National Marine Park with more than 350 recorded fish species known to frequent the waters.

3. Best For A European Adventure

Gran Canaria, Canary Islands, Boats Docked

Transatlantic sailings make for such a special vacation, and this 13-night Transatlantic Azores itinerary on Adventure of the Seas ® packs four remarkable ports into the crossing. You'll cruise the Atlantic for the first nine days, living it up on a ship that is packed with ways to play and relax. You'll arrive in idyllic Tenerife in the Canary Islands on the tenth day. Immerse yourself in the local Spanish culture by spending part of your day exploring the Museum of Nature and Archaeology or the Basilica de Candelaria shrine. The cruise continues to Lanzarote, Canary Islands, where picture-perfect colonial mansions line cobblestone streets, then on to the adventurous mountain island of Madeira, Portugal before completing your journey in the charming streets of Lisbon, Portugal.

4. Best For Private Island Getaways

Hamilton, Bermuda Horseshoe Bay

This unique Port Canaveral cruise itinerary  to Bermuda and Perfect Day at CocoCay on Adventure of the Seas ® visits both of Royal Caribbean's private destinations, where paradise is just steps away from the ship. On an eight-night journey, this ship will first cruise to Labadee, the cruise line's private peninsula adventure park and beach. Soak up this private spot by relaxing on the beach, enjoy the destination's signature cocktail specialty, the Labadoozie (a fruity rum cocktail) or opt for a zip line ride that will send you soaring over the ocean. The next private island destination is Perfect Day at CocoCay, Royal Caribbean's oasis in The Bahamas. Here you'll port within short distance of pristine beaches, a thrilling water park and countless ways to unwind beneath the palm trees. There's also a stop in Bermuda, home to pink-sand beaches and rum swizzles.

5. Best For Foodies

Authentic Cozumel Shrimp Tacos

Foodies will delight in fresh, authentic Caribbean dishes on this itinerary to the Western Caribbean and Perfect Day at CocoCay on Wonder of the Seas ® . In Cozumel, Mexico you'll find lunch specialties featuring locally caught seafood, often grouper and red snapper fried on a plate with rice and a vibrant salad. In Roatán, Honduras, ceviche is the local favorite, along with fried plantains and baleadas — tacos made with soft flour tortillas. The ship's final port is Puerto Costa Maya, Mexico, a charming fishing village where the salbutes  (fried corn tortillas topped with shredded chicken) make a great appetizer to the catch of the day, served hot off the grill.

6. Best For Variety

Aruba ATV Off Road Track, Oranjestad, Aruba

This seven-night Eastern Caribbean itinerary  on Wonder of the Seas ® is a top choice if you want to change things up and go on a unique adventure in each port. Your first destination is Philipsburg, St. Maarten, where you can tour the island on an ATV, sample rum from a local distillery or end the day with a sunset horseback ride on the beach. When the ship arrives in the U.S. Virgin Islands at Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, head straight to Magens Bay, often short-listed as one of the world's most beautiful beaches. Or dive into a snorkeling tour to get face time with some sea turtles and coral reefs. On your final stop, Royal Caribbean's Perfect Day at CocoCay, everyone in your group can enjoy a seemingly endless array of activities. If the beach is calling, grab a spot on one of the many cushy beach loungers close to a bar serving up island cocktails that go great with the ocean view. For the adventurous ones, Daredevil's Peak® waterslide is North America's tallest and promises an adrenaline rush.

Encompassing ports of paradise and incredible culture, Orlando cruises are the ideal vacation getaway. Start planning your island escape from Port Canaveral now .
