OVERVIEW OF THE TOUR

Join us this morning as we venture through one of the most stunning rainforests in Victoria as a part of our Puffing Billy Melbourne Tour. Throughout the day, you will be treated to a variety of delicious Australian food, and taste some fine wines at Victoria’s leading wineries.

The Dandenong Ranges is our first stop on our Puffing Billy Melbourne Tour. At the Dandenong Ranges, you will travel through the lush rainforests of mountain ash trees, passing a range of steep valleys and rolling hills. There are a few arts and craft stores and cafes to explore within the area.

We head to Belgrave, where you will have the opportunity to board the famous Puffing Billy Steam Train . The steam train operates daily and follows the route of Belgrave to Menzies Creek. The steam train has been maintained in its original design and replicates the old-fashioned train network throughout Victoria. The Trestle Bridge and Sherbrook Forest, are two of the many landmarks you will cross over, on your 30-minute Puffing Billy Steam Train ride.

In the afternoon, we travel to Victoria’s primary wine-growing region, the Yarra Valley. In the Yarra Valley, travellers will be treated to wine tastings at Rochford Winery, as well as another leading local winery. Here, you will not only taste these characteristic Yarra Valley wines but, you will also gain valuable knowledge regarding the production processes.

We finish off the day with something sweet at the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery. Enjoy a private group tasting experience to sample some of the artisanal chocolates on offer and learn about the chocolate-making process.

The Puffing Steam Train and Yarra Valley Tour offers participants an unforgettable experience including spectacular mountain views, first-class wine tastings and of course the famous journey of the Puffing Billy Steam Train.

This train navigates through forest-laden hillsides from Belgrave to Lakeside. Look for kookaburras, cockatoos, lyrebirds, and crimson rosellas in Sherbrooke Forest . Dedicated volunteers are actively preserving this 121-year-old steam-powered railway. It went from Christchurch to Auckland and I spent a few days in Christchurch before the tour. The tour guide and driver were excellent. They ere were efficient at their jobs. We stopped thru a lot of small towns; the amount of time spent there was good. I wish there were more time in the big cities, like Wellington. I got a call ~1 hour before I was supposed to meet at the tour location that they had overbooked my tour and canceled my reservation and just offered a refund or to rebook my party 4 days later, even though I'm leaving Melbourne before then and this was the only date I could do the tour. • Jill C 0 contributions 5.0 of 5 bubbles AAT KINGS - Maru Animal Park and Penguin Parade Tour was exactly as described by AAT Kings: First stop was at the Maru Park where we were able to get up close to a koala ($30 extra), feed the kangaroos and wallabies ($3), see tasmanian devils, dingos etc - a small park, but lovely to wander round. We then headed to Phillip Island for a walk around the headland, viewing the spectacular coastline, and even caught sight of a few of the penguins which were completing their annual moult. We were driven back to Cowes to get our evening meal(at our own choice and cost), and then back to Phillip Island to see the penguin parade - scheduled to begin at 8:25pm, and sure enough the penguins started to appear dead on time! We sat in the tiered seating, and although the view on to the beach was not brilliant (it was going dark after all!), it was magical to see the little fellas pop out of the ocean and begin their noisy waddle home. We got a much closer look at them as we headed back along the board-walk into the centre. We were dropped off outside our hotel after 11pm - a long but very enjoyable day! The coach pickup point is by the back entrance/exit of the National Gallery of Australia. The City Tour is comprehensive as we saw most of Melbourne, including St Hilda, the Houses of Parliament, the Rod Lever tennis stadium. Our driver come tour guide was brilliant, stopping many times to show us local fauna and flora, I think he was an amateur botanist at heart. Phillip Island, although a damp night was great but don't be disappointed in the fact that you can't take any pictures after dusk of the little blue penguins, due to them being nocturnal and bright light damaging their eyes. We had plenty of time to pet and feed the kangaroos with no interruption. The Penguin Parade is one of natures miracles that is a chance in a lifetime to experience. The only reason I gave this tour a 4/5 stars is that the tour guide was a little over-zealous with his enthusiasm. We appreciated his commentary but it was a very, very long day and he stopped the bus many times to pick up the odd flower, tree branches, etc to pass around the bus. Travel roughly one hour from Melbourne amidst the Dandenong Ranges’ hills, filled with towering Mountain Ash and Fern trees. As you journey, admire the breathtaking views of Melbourne’s skyline on the way to Puffing Billy Station. Travel back in time and embark on a memorable hour-long adventure on Australia’s most distinguished narrow gauge railway inside the rejuvenated Puffing Billy Steam Train. As you zigzag through the tree-laden hills on Puffing Billy’s signature open carriages between Belgrave and Lakeside, watch for native wildlife. The pristine Sherbrooke Forest might also present sightings of kookaburras, cockatoos, lyrebirds, and vibrant crimson rosellas. Engage with one of the passionate volunteers dedicated to safeguarding this historic 121-year-old steam railway. Your ticket grants access to the modern Lakeside Visitor Centre , equipped with a railway-themed cafe, a mini-exhibit, and a souvenir store where visitors can buy morning refreshments or lunch (on their account).

Resuming our journey on the bus, we traverse the Yarra Valley towards the Healesville locality. The undulating terrains of the Yarra Valley shelter more than 80 vineyards, producing a spectrum of cool-climate wine varieties. Attendees will be treated to a winery visit, indulging in wine samplings and cheese boards, all while soaking in the panoramic vistas of the Yarra Valley. The day’s itinerary concludes with a stop at the Yarra Valley Chocolaterie and Ice Creamery, boasting a selection of over 250 chocolate, truffle, and ice cream flavours! Guests can observe the chocolatiers in action, peruse the chocolate store, and treat themselves to a luxurious hot chocolate or coffee (at their discretion) before unwinding during the  trip  back to Melbourne. Day 1 - Arrival in Moscow

Arrive in Moscow; start of the tour

Today is the first day of your Great Moscow Tour, so upon arriving in Moscow, get a transfer to the hotel. Checking-in into the hotel, spend the day relaxing and visiting local places in and around the hotel.

Day 2 - Moscow City Tour

Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, Moscow State University, Several other Landmarks

Today, after breakfast, visit some of the iconic landmarks of Moscow. The list includes Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, monument to Peter I, Moscow State University, Hill of Respectful Salutation, Sparrow Hills, New Arbat, Tverskaja Streets, Theatre, Pushkin Squares and  Boulevard Ring.

Catch a scenic view of the Kremlin from the Sifiyskaya embankment and the New Maiden Nunnery. Spend some time at the Old Arbat Street, where one can find sidewalk artists, cafes and shops. Enjoy some free time to explore the historical Red Square. Proceed to St. Basil’s Cathedral which is an enduring symbol in Moscow. Also, a visit to Tretyakov Gallery will expose tourists to the best Russian art collection in the world.

Day 3 - Tour to Kremlin

The Armory and other historical places in the Kremlin

Waking up today morning, visit The Armoury, which is a treasury museum. Some parts of this museum houses artefacts and other historical pieces of interest like gowns and thrones, gold and silver items created by Russian and European jewellers as well as the armour worn by knights.

In addition to all these, you will also get the opportunity to visit Cathedral Square, Assumption, Archangel’s and Holy Annunciation Cathedrals in addition to the Tsar Cannon, the Tsar Bell, Alexander garden and take a ride on the Moscow metro train.

Day 4 - Cultural & Religious Tour in Moscow

Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts

Today, you will be visiting the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour, which was destroyed in 1931, and was converted and used as a swimming pool for close to 35 years. Also visit Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts which is among the largest museums in the world and houses a large collection of famous antiques and Renaissance masterpieces. Spend the rest of the day exploring other places in the city.

Day 5 - Another Day of Moscow Tour

New Maiden Nunnery, New Maiden Cemetery

Today will be the last day of the great Moscow tour. On this day, you will be visiting the New Maiden Nunnery, a convent known for housing sacred relics while also serving as a safe house for exiled girls who come from noble households if they get pregnant out of wed lock. Also visit New Maiden Cemetery, the burial ground for a number of powerful Russian and Soviet politicians, World War II heroes, musicians, authors and actors. Spend the rest of the day indulging in some personal sightseeing.

Day 6 - Departure from Moscow

After enjoying breakfast at the hotel, check-out and proceed towards availing an airport transfer to your respective destination.
