 Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana, also referred to as Hard Rock Resort Punta Cana or just Hard Rock Punta Cana (even there is a Hard Rock Café existing in Punta Cana in a different location), is located north of the major hotel zone in Punta Cana.  Even Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana is considered to be part of the Punta Cana region, it is located between Arena Gorda and Macao . It is a 30-minute drive from Punta Cana International Airport . Hard Rock Hotel Punta Cana is surrounded by a golf course and a huge area of apartments and condominiums. There is absolutely nothing around which you can reach in walking distance, not even a single shop or supermarket. If you’d like to leave Hard Rock Resort Punta Cana, you need a taxi, a pre-arranged transfer or a rental car . There is a public bus passing the hotel at the front entrance, but it is a 1-mile walk from the hotel entrance to the front gate at the highway. 

There are only three specific public spots you can reach by walking: – Cana Bay Beach Club, right next to Hard Rock Punta Cana – Hard Rock Casino, located right on the premises – Hard Rock Golf Club at Cana Bay, the golf course of Hard Rock, open to the public

 As mentioned in the introduction, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana is the biggest stand-alone all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic. While there are properties such as Bahía Resort , Iberostar or Palladium, which have well over 2000 rooms but distributed over 4 or 5 hotels (or up to 7 at Grand Bahía Resort ), Hard Rock Punta Cana All-Inclusive is the only one with this amount of rooms in one single hotel – 1775 rooms.

 But Hard Rock Punta Cana is not only big in terms of the room count, it is also a huge all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana concerning the size of the property. From the lobby of the resort to the beach it is a whopping 2000 feet as the crow flies and a bit less than 2500 feet walking. Luckily there is a small train running through the resort which easily helps you covering the distance if you don’t want to walk. The large size of the resort also comes with endless amenities like in no other all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana . You definitely won’t get bored at Hard Rock Hotel Punta Cana as there is so much to explore.

Right when you enter the main lobby of Hard Rock Punta Cana All Inclusive, you can hear and feel the omnipresent theme of your upcoming vacation in Punta Cana: this is Hard Rock! Music, the history of Rock and famous soundtracks are everywhere. The lobby is already dotted with musical exhibits such as famous guitars and is completely different than the usual tropical all-inclusive lobby in Punta Cana. Hard Rock Resort welcomes you into its own (rock) world with its dark, air-conditioned and musical-themed world.

 Adjacent to the lobby you can find “The Boulevard”, which is home to most things to do at Hard Rock Punta Cana: most restaurants, various shops, many entertainment venues and all kinds of other amenities such as the ice cream shop, the Escape Game room or the bowling alley. The Boulevard will be your daily base (especially at night) to explore all the entertainment options Hard Rock has to offer, as there is so much going on here at night that it won’t get boring at any time.

The gym and the spa are located adjacent to this area. The Boulevard also features two large terraces, which are used for events and nightly entertainment. Leaving the Boulevard, you have three options of walking down towards the beach (or taking the trolley) – using the left-wing, walking through the middle of the resort or taking the right exit. They will all pass several of the accommodation buildings, which are all located between The Boulevard (incl. the lobby) and the beach. Here you will find all of Hard Rock Punta Canas’ rooms.

The furthest your room can be away from the beach is 1500 feet. However, the further away your room is from the beach, the closer you are to the majority of the restaurants and entertainment options. 🙂

 Halfway from the lobby to the beach of Hard Rock Punta Cana All Inclusive Resort, you will pass a natural lake that spans once across the entire property. The lake is also surrounded by three pools, among them one infinity pool and one topless adults-only pool. 

 Walking further down to Hard Rock Punta Cana’s beach you’ll reach a huge area where most of the action takes place during the day: the various pools next to the beach. Here most people mingle during the day, enjoying the pool and beach activities, having drinks from the several pool bars, grab food from varying food trucks, have a dip into the numerous pools or visit the Hard Rock Punta Cana water park with their kids. There is also a lazy river, three restaurants (mostly for dinner, but usually one of them is open for lunch as well) and the Legendary Hard Rock Punta Cana members-only area.

 Once passing those array of pools, you have reached the end of this all-inclusive resort, the Hard Rock Punta Cana beach.

The beach at Hard Rock Hotel Punta Cana

The beach at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana is one of the widest and most beautiful beach sections in the entire region of Punta Cana . Just the section right at Hard Rock Punta Cana Resort is 2300 feet long and up to 330 feet wide, some of the most impressive dimensions when it comes to resort beaches in Punta Cana. Only the section of Bavaro Beach around Melia Punta Cana Beach Resort , Dreams Royal Beach and Secrets Royal Beach is comparable to these dimensions in terms of width AND length.

 Besides a beach bar and waiter service, Hard Rock Punta Cana’s beach features several lounge areas, sunchairs and (for an extra charge) dozens of Bali beds. There is also a huge “Made to Rock” sign, which allows for some different photo opportunities, especially those loving the music theme of Hard Rock Resort.

If you love to go swimming, the Hard Rock Punta Cana beach is very suitable. If you are traveling to Punta Cana as a family and your kids want to take a dip into the ocean, check the waves and the current flags before entering, as sometimes this part of Arena Gorda Beach can be a bit choppy. 

But that’s not everything the beach at Hard Rock Punta Cana has to offer, there are two more things to consider. First of all, the Hard Rock beach is not as prone to seaweed as other areas in Punta Cana , giving you a more pleasant experience during times of intensive seaweed alluvial (usually during summer months, but there are years without seaweed as well).  Second, if you want to have a long beach walk you have two options:  – you can walk southeast for more than 8 miles, passing all the other hotels, seeing different areas of Punta Canas’ all-inclusive resorts . – you can walk northwest, exploring an absolutely pristine beach with virgin coconut groves (and a lot of natural flotsam). This is because Hard Rock Punta Cana is the last resort for a couple of miles before reaching Macao Beach , another one of Punta Canas’ very beautiful beaches .

But it is not simply taking the typical all-inclusive food from the buffet, you get your Italian bread (with delicious homemade spreads), Mexican tacos (made to order), international omelets or Dominican meats prepared and served fresh on your plate. This is not only super compliant with current safety regulation to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in Punta Cana , but it is also so much more delicious than a meal which is already simmering since an hour in the usual chafing dish. The only little downturn is that it takes much longer than the typical buffet food, but hey, quality needs its time.

 Besides The Market, you can find 5 other à la carte restaurants at The Boulevard, the huge (and air-conditioned) entertainment area of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino close to the lobby. With “Bistro Med” there is another unique restaurant option at Hard Rock Punta Cana All Inclusive. Bistro Med is a Lebanese restaurant, which you can hardly find at any other all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic, serving delicious Falafel and Kibbeh, local sandwiches and burgers and some of the best Hummus (a spread made out of chickpeas) and Babaganoush (a creamy eggplant spread). It is also standing apart as you can eat here from 11 am to 11 pm, meaning it is an additional à-la-carte option for lunch, where most Punta Cana all-inclusive resorts only send you to their corresponding buffet. 

 The other restaurants at the Boulevard are Pizzeto (you can get fresh brick-oven style pizzas here from 11 am to 2 am), Los Gallos (Mexican à la carte), Ciao (Italien à la carte) and Zen, which offers a large sushi menu, various Asian dishes as well a Teppanyaki show cooking.

 If you prefer to dine close to Hard Rock Punta Cana’s beach, you have three further restaurant options with plenty of capacity: Ipanema (the Brazilian grill), Toro (an American-style steakhouse) and Isla with its Caribbean cuisine (even though Isla is currently closed due to extensive renovations). Sometimes, but not always (depending on the occupancy), those restaurants also offer outdoor dining, one of the few options at Hard Rock Punta Cana where you can sit outside.

 While those restaurants are not as spectacular as the ones mentioned first (especially The Market and Bistro Med), all of them offer high-quality food adequate for a luxury resort in Punta Cana. Everything is super fresh, there are always delights that are exceeding your taste buds’ expectations and we hardly had any dish at the entire Hard Rock Punta Cana where we have been disappointed. 

 While most all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana have a reservation only or reservation-free policy with their à-la-carte restaurants, Hard Rock Resort Punta Cana has a mixed policy with regards to their dining options. While reservations are possible and recommended, you can also visit all of the restaurants without reservations as much as you want. Just be prepared that you might have to wait a bit without reservations or choose another restaurant, especially if you visit during peak dining hours.

 Not only the selection of food is massive, but the bars also don’t fall short when it comes to choices. When visiting Hard Rock Punta Cana All Inclusive, you can choose between 23 (!) bars. Of course, not every bar has an individual menu, so the drink selection is repeating, but still, your next drink is never far away and there are some pretty interesting bars among those 23 with creative cocktail creations. 

 For example, a couple of pool bars at Hard Rock Punta Cana offer an extensive hand-crafted drink menu with cocktails you don’t find anywhere else. Fresh juices, cinnamon syrup, lavender, basil or hibiscus are just some of the ingredients they are using. The only downside of these cocktails is that the mixers are already premixed, so you can’t adjust them to your preferences. They just add the alcohol from the bottle. But still, it is a nice change from your typical mojito or Cuba libre.

 Some of the restaurants at Hard Rock Resort also have daily cocktail specials, prepared freshly and with love. Especially at Bistro Med we always find interesting creations, which “forced” us to already start drinking for lunch. 😉

 Hard Rock Punta Cana also sets up varying show bars depending on the day and the topic. The last time we have been there, there was a well-designed tequila bar with handcrafted (and delicious) tequila cocktails at The Boulevard.

 In general, you can expect a very good drink quality at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana. They have lots of premium spirits incl. some good aged Dominican rums available, so you shall find something which suits your taste. However, make sure to ask for your favorite brand when ordering cocktails as some bars are using no-name brands (which is not bad at all, it just tastes better with premium brands) when not specifying. Thanks to the very well-designed bars especially at The Boulevard, you also don’t have the feeling of sitting in a random all-inclusive bar. It rather feels like you are somewhere at a busy place enjoying professionally crafted drinks with friends.

And, if you need some further entertainment, the Casino at Hard Rock is the biggest one in Punta Cana, so be prepared for some serious gambling.

 The 26 slides include: – 9 high-speed slides for teens and adults – 9 family-friendly slides for kids and children – 8 smaller slides for children

 Depending on how you count it, there are among 4-5 huge high-trill water slides at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana. Hard Rock Punta Cana’s water park can be compared with some of the other huge water parks in Punta Cana .

 However, there are other activities you can join. If you want to be active, you can play beach volleyball, beach soccer or tennis. Furthermore, there are many other sports activities for an additional charge, such as playing golf at Hard Rock Golf Club, playing minigolf or try your surfing skills at the Flowrider. There are also several entertainment options for an extra charge to make sure you never get bored, such as a Laser Tag game or the Escape Room.

Being from the industry and always having my ear on Punta Cana’s tourism, I am pretty sure this decline came from the Post-Covid hiccups. Many resorts in Punta Cana had to release hundreds of staff members during and after Covid-19, especially when occupancy rates in 2020 and partially in 2021 were pretty low. Later, when demand suddenly picked up, there was a staff shortage and the resorts couldn’t find new (and qualified) staff that quickly – which led to some drastic restrictions in service and quality. Travelers were complaining. Those hiccups are ridden out, so you don’t have to fear any effects from this time. Hi Marta, in such a big resort like Hard Rock Punta Cana, there are nearly always constructions going on. 😉 Currently, some of buildings 6,7 and 8 are being remodeled, same as the Ciao restaurant. There is also a new water park under construction. However, depending on when you are going, this is subject to change. Furthermore, the Hard Rock Punta Cana rooms are exactly as you are describing it: the old ones have the jacuzzi inside, the new ones are outside on the balcony. Cheers from Punta Cana Chris

Hi Barbara, in the middle of February 2022, the Dominican Republic lifted all Covid-19 restrictions for Punta Cana and the entire country. It is now at the discretion of the all-inclusive resorts to reopen all remaining services (even though restrictions have already been minimal before that point). Cheers, Chris

Hi. I will be staying at the hard rock hotel and really want to go on the saona island excursion. Any recommendations on companies to book with?

I would like to book when i get there rather than online.

We used ProExcursions. I don't know if they pick up at hard rock, but if they do they were wonderful. Also Seavis Tours. ProExcursions made the Saona Trip the highlight of our trip. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Can u book with these companies once u get there?

It depends on what your reps are selling at your resort.

Seavis can only be booked on line. It is highly recommended as one of the better Saona excursions.

If you want a specific tour company / excursion then IMO you should book directly with them. If you want to wait till you get there then cross your fingers and hope they are one of the tours offered at your resort.

Just to reiterate:

Great advise, as many can attest to the fact that this tour op is the best and most professional. Not just a guy on the beach. All tours are not the same, while you can book on the beach or in the lobby, or ahead online, it's up to you, you still want a quality tour. Also, should you decide to make a deal on the beach, do not pay until you are ready to board.

You will be provided with an in room menu (kids menu available in select room categories) from which you can place your order at any time of the day or night.

As of April 1, 2021, visitors entering or leaving the Dominican Republic will be required to complete and submit a digital entry and exit form that includes the traveler’s Customs Declaration, International Embarkation/Disembarkation form and Health Affidavit, required by the Ministry of Public Health, to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and optimize the entry and departure processes. 

Visitors will need to complete one form for arrival up to 72 hours prior to travel, and another one for departure. The system will generate corresponding QR codes for each form. Visitors can print or take a screenshot of the QR codes, and keep them on hand to be scanned by local authorities at Customs.

When making a reservation, is it safe to provide my credit card number?

Yes, all information submitted on our website is stored on our server through a safe and encrypted connection. This means that it cannot be accessed via Internet and that no one can intercept the information being sent.

Do I have to pay the full amount on my reservation?

We have several ways to guarantee the reservation depending on the promotion. Deposit will be charged to the credit card provided. The remaining balance is due upon arrival. All reservations must be guaranteed with a valid credit card.

If I book through an intermediary, can the hotel give me my bill?

No, Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana should bill the intermediary. We suggest you to ask for your bill directly where you made your reservation.

I'm trying to make a reservation, and a message is displayed saying that the number of people cannot be accommodated in any of the available rooms. What does this mean?

You have probably exceeded the maximum occupancy in the room category. We recommend you add one more room or contact us directly at  [email protected]

Is a charge made to my credit card at the time the reservation is confirmed?

When your reservation is confirmed, the charge is automatic. Please verify the amount charged in your confirmation letter.

When making a reservation, I am asked for personal information. How will it be used?

The information you give us will only be used to guarantee and register your reservation, or to contact you if something unexpected comes up. If you choose to receive our newsletter, we will use your information to periodically email you our promotions and/or news and updates about our hotel. If one of the minors is an infant (less than 3 years old), can 2 adults and 3 minors under the age of 12 stay in the room?

Once your reservation number is displayed on your screen and emailed to you, you may rest assured that your reservation has been registered in our system. Please keep your reservation information for purposes of personal control.

Will I receive a confirmation of my reservation?

Once your confirmation is displayed on your screen, you will receive a confirmation to the e-mail address you provided within 5 minutes. It will include cancellation policies.

Yes, the hotel has free Wi-Fi internet access throughout all common areas and rooms. We also have computers available at the lobby at no additional charge.

Do you have activities for children in your hotels?

Our  Kids Club  offers activities, games and shows that will amaze and educate your little kids.

Older kids can enjoy the  Mini-Golf , Arcade and Xtreme Center. Bigger audiences can also partake in  Music Lab  for a taste of the glamorous rock star life.

Do you have nanny services?

Yes, please consult the Concierge desk.

Do I need to bring an electrical adapter?

We provide 110 volts outlets in every room, if you need a different outlet, you will need an adapter. Please note that hairdryers are provided in every room, so you may leave that out of your packing list.

How much cash should I carry?

If you are planning to travel off property for shopping and such, we recommend bring some cash along, as some vendors do not accept credit cards or traveler's checks. There are exchange bureaus at the lobby. Most of the venues accept US dollars, but please note that you may receive change in the local currency. Additionally, you may want to carry small bills to tip luggage attendants at the airport and airport transfer drivers outside the resort.

Are beach towels provided by the resort?

Yes. In addition to bath towels in your room, you can find beach towels in pool and beach areas at no extra cost. You can use as many as you like.

Do you have a nightclub at your hotel?

Oro Nightclub  is the ultimate, most exclusive nightclub. Additional admission fee is required.

Are the pool chairs included?

Yes, pool chairs and towels are included. If you want to elevate your lounging experience, you can rent out our Bali beds by reaching out to Vacation Planners at their desk by the lobby (From 8:00 am to 8:00 pm).

Do you have laundry service?

Yes, laundry service is available at an extra cost. You can find the price list in your in-room handbook.

Do you have a doctor on property?

We have 24 hours medical service. There is a charge for medication and doctor's consultations, should those be necessary.

When staying at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana, may I take my pet with me?

Yes, the resort welcomes dogs and cats with its legendary  pet-friendly program ,  Unleashed!  Applies only to some room categories.

What is the maximum number of guests that can be accommodated in a room?

This varies based on each room category. You can find the specification on number of guests per room type  HERE .

Can you smoke in the rooms?

All rooms are non-smoking. Smoking is permitted in designated areas.

Do you offer ADA amenities at the hotel?

Accessible Caribbean Suites and Caribbean Sand Suites are available and include wider clearance through doorways, toilet, bathroom rails, shower benches and roll-in showers. The rooms do not have hydro spa tub. With King beds only.

In addition, we have ramps throughout the hotel. Including reception, pool and beach access areas. There are elevators located in all buildings and lobbies.

Checking In

• What is required upon check-in at the resort?

By official regulations, take account that Passport or your country’s Official ID must be shown for registering at the hotel upon arrival and valid credit card.

• At what time can I check in?

The check in time is 15:00 (3:00 PM), the checkout time is 12:00 (12:00 PM).

• Do you have early check in (before 3 pm)?

Yes, however, it is subject to availability. If you arrive early, you can go to the front desk, and you will be provided with a wristband that gives you access to hotel grounds and restaurants. Our staff will safeguard your luggage, so you can go ahead and enjoy. We will notify you when your room is ready.

• Is a passport or visa required to travel to your resort?

Yes. If you are an International traveler, you will need your passport to travel and check-in at the hotel.

• If I arrive in the early morning, is there anyone to assist me?

Yes, our staff is available and ready to assist you 24 hours, seven days a week.

• Why are the charges at the hotel in Dominican Pesos?

We understand that some of our guests have been concerned about the currency in which their charges are processed. The reason behind this is that our hotel is located in the Dominican Republic, and the official currency here is the Dominican Peso (DOP). Therefore, all transactions, including room charges and on-site expenses, are processed in Dominican Pesos.

I noticed that my bank applies a currency conversion fee. Is there any way to avoid this charge?

We are aware that some guests may incur currency conversion fees imposed by their banks when using their credit or debit cards. To avoid these charges, we recommend the following options:

- Cash Payments: You can choose to pay your bill in cash using US dollars. This way, you won't be subject to any currency conversion fees. Alternatively, if you have Euros (EUR)*, you can settle your bill in DOP (Dominican Pesos), and our front desk staff can provide you with the current exchange rate.

Please remember that the rates and fees associated with currency conversion are determined by your bank or card issuer. It's a good practice to contact your bank before your trip to inquire about their specific terms and conditions regarding international transactions.

• Why is there a mandatory $100 USD hold per night on my credit card for the reservation?

We require a mandatory hold of $100 USD per night per reservation on a credit card for incidental expenses and any potential additional charges that may occur during your stay. This hold is a standard procedure and is used to ensure that any incidentals, such as room service, dining, or damages, can be covered conveniently without the need for immediate payment at check-out.

• Will this hold affect my credit card limit?

While the hold is placed on your credit card, the funds are not actually charged. Instead, the amount is temporarily reserved, which might affect your available credit limit until the hold is released after check-out. The release process varies by bank, and typically, the hold is lifted within a few business days after your departure.

• Can I use a different payment method for the hold?

The mandatory hold is specifically processed on a credit card provided at the time of reservation. We do not currently accept alternative payment methods for this hold.

• What if I don’t have a credit card?

We regret to inform you that a credit card is mandatory for the hold. If you don’t have a credit card in your name, we recommend contacting our reservations team to discuss alternative arrangements.

Do I have to pay extra to dine at a specialty restaurant?

All our specialty restaurants are included. 

Are reservations necessary to dine-in at restaurants?

Reservations are not required except for Zen restaurant. However, you can make a reservation for Zen restaurant directly at the Reservations Desk located at the Group's lobby from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm upon your arrival.

What is the dress code for the restaurants at night?

All of our restaurants' dress code is casual. Formal shorts or bermuda shorts, dress shirts, polo shirts, or formal sandals. (No wet clothes, visible bathing suit or flip-flops.) Special events and dinners require a more formal attire.

Can your hotel accommodate food allergies?

You can tell us about food allergies or special food requirements at the Public Relations desk, where we will notify each restaurant. We also have detailed food descriptions on the menus.

How far is the Hotel from the Airport?

It is only a 30-minutes drive from Punta Cana International Airport to the Hotel. An hour trip from La Romana Airport and a 3-hour trip from Santo Domingo Airport.

How do I arrange transportation to the resort and back to the airport?

For those of you flying into Punta Cana to experience the ultimate rock star vacation, getting to Hard Rock Hotel Cancun is easy with the  transportation service  available at an additional cost.

If you made your booking through this website, you can request your transfer at least 72 hours prior to your arrival by e-mailing  [email protected] . Make sure your message includes the following information:*

The hotel you are staying at, the name in which the reservation is under, your booking confirmation number, the number of people traveling with you and your arrival and departure flight itinerary (airline, flight number and flight times). You will then receive a response with relevant information and the cost of the transfer. The charge will be applied to your room, and you can pay this via credit card or cash upon check-out.

Make sure to stop by the Vacation Planners desk located in the lobby 24 hours before your departure (between 8:00 am to 8:00 pm), to confirm your transfer pick-up time.

What happens if I made my transportation reservation through a travel agency?

Convention Policy:  Individuals attending a convention cannot book this property for their stay. If found attending a convention, guests may be subject to higher room rates upon arrival.
