Description .

The 12'0" Voyager MSL has been designed with a petite paddler or more experienced paddler in mind. It still packs plenty of volume allowing you to carry more kit for your adventures.

Showcasing new styling with mountain accents, t he V-hull and twin fin set up gives almost laser guided tracking, allowing for less paddle stroke adjustments to maintain a straight course and makes it easier to cover distances. The Red Paddle Co Voyager range is designed for longer journeys when you are carrying more kit and weight. Although less manoeuvrable than the Sport boards, you can effortlessly cruise along canals and rivers for long periods of time.

Being one of the first inflatable paddle board companies in the industry, we have been developing boards and materials for over 14 years. This development has led to our exclusive MSL material made from specially produced, high density drop stitch giving a stronger and stiffer core. The MSL technology allows us to make a thinner board which gives us best in class control and handling.

The patented RSS batten system adds 30% more stiffness than other boards of this size. Underneath the board are two removable US box fins. This system is the most widely used in the board sport industry, allowing for easy removal and replacement when necessary. By having two shorter fins rather than one longer fin, you'll be able to get into much shallower waters, opening up a wider variety of waterways to paddle.

Fundamentally, our boards are designed and built to last. Our quality-assured Tec Air process has an extremely low warranty rate below 0.5%. Maximising longevity minimises our impact on the planet.

Yet even durable Red kit will eventually reach end-of-life, hence our ‘design for disassembly’ approach. For example, all Titan pump components are replaceable, while using 100% recoverable virgin plastic in our fins, finboxes and RSS battens ensure they’re fully recyclable. 

Our manufacturing processes, like turning the offcuts from our EVA deckpads into keyrings, aim for zero waste too, reflecting our commitment to low-impact resource selection. 

How to store your board 

Before storing, rinse all equipment in fresh water and let it dry completely. 

To pack away, lay the deflated board deck-up and place the pump across the nose, leaving enough room to wrap the board over. Roll tightly, then secure with the strap. Use the backpack’s internal strap to secure the board inside. 

Store your board in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight. If keeping it rolled up, avoid excess pressure on the straps. If space allows, it’s best to store the pump separately. 

You can also leave your board inflated, ideally kept on a flat surface or upright – but do reduce the board’s pressure to below 15psi if not in use for a while.

Monocoque Structural Laminate or MSL® is the world’s leading drop-stitch material. Exclusive to Red Paddle Co boards, it’s made to our exact specifications. 

Monocoque : meaning the coating is integral to the structure. MSL® drop-stitch technology integrates a highly durable, reinforced coating to the ultra-high-definition weave to form an inseparable base layer. 

Structural : the high-tensile drop-stitch fibres are designed to withstand pressures in excess of 22psi, meaning Red boards can be inflated to provide unrivalled stiffness and confidence, no matter the rider weight or prevailing conditions. 

Laminate : the reinforced composite coating is bonded to the textile core using machine welding that applies heat and pressure to the inner PVC layer, saving over 2kg of adhesives and reducing cosmetic and safety concerns. Tec Air: Pioneering Paddle Board Design .

Red Paddle Co is the only inflatable SUP brand that makes boards in its own private facility, using innovative materials and manufacturing methods to produce quality kit you won’t find elsewhere. The Tec Air process is how we refine and develop our boards. 

We’ve taken standard inflatable technology and reworked almost every aspect of it. By pinpointing key areas, we’ve identified improvements – from the precise bonding of layers to the application of optimum rocker curve, triple-taped reinforced rails to our exclusive MSL® drop-stitch material, no element is overlooked. 

Before going into production our designs undergo rigorous research and testing. (We’ve even run tractors and a 22.5-tonne digger over them – they were fine!) Then manufacturing each board takes 72 hours: that’s ten times the industry average. Unlike most other paddleboard companies, we never compromise on quality. It’s this unique Tec Air process that sets us apart.

V-HULL: Gliding Into The Distance .

Our innovative V-Hull is a unique displacement hull at the nose of our Voyager range, created by strategically tapering the cut of the drop-stitch. The resulting vee effortlessly breaks the surface tension of the water to keep the board gliding more smoothly between paddle strokes. 

The V-Hull truly shines when faced with chop and crosswinds. Adjusting your position on the board changes the angle at which that vee breaks the water. When paddling in crosswinds, standing further forward will improve the board’s tracking – engaging more board beneath the waterline to prevent it from drifting sideways. The V-Hull also helps the board work more effectively through chop, maintaining glide by reducing any slamming into wavelets and helping the board cut through rougher waters.

SPEED TAIL: Drop The Hammer .

The innovative Speed Tail enhances glide and manoeuvrability for our Sport range and 12'0" and 13'2" Voyagers. This sharp trailing edge creates a distinct hard-release from the water, reducing the drag that can afflict square-tailed inflatables. 

The colour-matched, rubberised Speed Tail produces a clean water release. Improved hydrodynamics at the tail are designed to make paddling smoother and faster. As well as enhancing speed and overall glide, the Speed Tail also offers improved manoeuvrability for a superior, more responsive ride. This means more control in all water states, improving confidence in tricky conditions.

As an inflatable paddleboard company, we’ve long realised how important it is to blow-up our boards as easily as possible. That’s why we developed the original Titan pump – it was a real game-changer, halving the time it took to pump up...

After spending a lot of time reviewing the Red Paddle Co12’6’’ Voyager, it’s become one of our favorite touring/adventure SUPs. Loaded with intriguing technology and features, we think this SUP is a great fit for anyone looking to load up their SUP and go for an adventure.

Most impressive is the new V-Hull technology that Red Paddle Co developed and put on their Voyager series. Red Paddle Co boards are more expensive than some, but you can tell they are putting a lot of time and money into their research and development – and you can feel that in the performance you get with the 12’6 Voyager.

It tracks better than we thought it would given its dual fin setup, is very rigid, and overall paddles extremely well. The new Voyager series features the same excellent MSL construction, with reinforced taped rails and new flexible plastic RSS rods that are even easier to install than previous versions. The new flat bungee cords are worth highlighting for extra cargo space, along with the improved Titan II pump that can inflate the paddleboard in just five minutes!

The paddleboard is large, but at 30.35 lbs, it’s easier to carry than many other large paddleboards (it has 5 handles in total). Especially when packed into the deluxe, all-terrain roller backpack.

From top to bottom, this truly is a stellar paddleboard package, so if you want to upgrade or add a touring board to your collection, you will definitely want to check out and go with the 2023 Red Paddle Co 12’6’’ Voyager!

We think the Red Paddle Co 12’6’’ Voyager would be a great SUP for paddlers who:

• Are looking for a SUP built to carry a lot of cargo for multi-day adventures – or a SUP to bring along a pet or child with you.

Being long and wide, 12’6’’ x 33’’, with an extended wide zone through the middle, this board has a plan shape for stability. Whether you want to stand on it alone and paddle, strap down gear, or paddle with a friend or child, this board can support it while maintaining its stability.

If you take a look at the pictures, you’ll see that it has a generally oval shape with a rounded nose and tail. Yet, the tapering does not start until at least a foot beyond the widest zone in both directions. Plus, the widest point is 33’’, which is wider than your typical all-around board. And while a rounded tail is not as stable as a squared-off tail, it has a twin-fin setup that works to balance this out.

Through our testing, we noticed that walking towards the tail and then back towards the middle, there is a slight sway in the board. And to be clear, it’s not a “tippy” feeling, it’s a sway. The board doesn’t move side-to-side from rail to rail, but more so it moves across the water from left to right ever so slightly . We attribute this to the V-Hull that’s underneath the board towards the nose. But the sway is minimal, and it doesn’t affect the stability when you are standing in the middle of the SUP and paddling forward. And the bonus that the V-Hull does offer heavily outweighs that tiny amount of sway that happens as you walk back and forth on the deck.

Speed Test: 9.3/10

The Red Paddle Co 12’6 Voyager is a good combo of adventure + touring when it comes to speed. It does really well when loaded up with gear for long paddling adventures. The V-hull helps to cut through the water and makex it feel slightly easier to paddle. On longer adventures, this slight improvement adds up.

If you like SUP adventures and also enjoy fitness paddling, this is a great SUP. If your first and foremost goal is to fitness paddle, with adventuring coming in second, we suggest going with the Red Paddle Co Sport model SUPs.

Before we reviewed the Red Paddle Co 12’6 Voyager, our team had differing opinions on how well it would track. Red decided to go with a twin-fin setup vs a more traditional single or tri-fin setup. Typically, this reduces tracking (and can increase drag resistance vs single-fin setups). In other words, we were a little worried that the board would feel a little slow, and not track as well as past Voyager SUPs.

After testing the SUP, I can say that we were pleasantly surprised with how well the Voyager did in the tracking category. It really did outperform our expectations. From a glide perspective, it was fantastic.

We think that the board can track and glide so well because of the new V-Hull design, it’s 12’6 length, and the positioning of the twin fins. The new V-Hull is designed to break the surface tension of the water, and allows paddlers to paddle longer and with less effort. With the broken surface tension the Voyager 12’6’’ maintains a faster and smoother glide, and seems to also improve the tracking and help the twin fins in the back.

It only took about 4.5 back sweeps to turn in a full circle, which is super impressive for a board that is more geared toward tracking than maneuverability. We consider 4 back sweeps a ‘highly maneuverable’ score. With the front V-Hull, you are going to have a slightly harder time turning when compared to other touring/adventure SUPs that don’t have a front fin or hull. Of course, this SUP is designed for long voyages – so that’s a positive.

For step-back turns, the rounded tail shape of the 12’6 Voyager and full-length deck pad make it fairly easy to step back and push the tail into the water, lift the nose out, and turn the board. As you can see in the photo above, Justin was able to get that nose out of the water pretty high.

Construction Quality: 8.2/10

At the heart of every inflatable paddleboard is a tight drop-stitch core, which is constructed of sheets of fabric that are joined together with thousands of ultra-strong threads. As air is pumped into this drop-stitch core, the paddleboard inflates like a balloon, but instead of being round, it will assume a board shape due to the threads holding the top and bottom layers together. Red Paddle Co relies on a strenuous, precise machine-assisted 72-hour process to ensure that every stitching is done correctly, the result being the Tec Air construction that makes their SUPs among the most reliable in the industry.

Red Paddle Co’s Monocoque Structural Laminate (MSL) construction consists of high density PVC coating that forms the shell of the paddleboard, claimed to offer better performance and superior durability that will help the paddleboard last even longer.

Additionally, the taped rails will provide extra rigidity and protection to the 12’6’’ Voyager, but the stand-out feature is the RSS system. Two removable flexible plastic rods can be inserted into the rails of the paddleboard, improving rigidity by up to 40% without excessively weighing down the SUP with carbon fiber rails or extra PVC coatings.

Board Stiffness:

Stiffness Test: 1” Bend

In order to bend test our boards across a common denominator, we use the same method each time. This method consists of pumping the SUP up to its maximum PSI and then laying it across two sawhorses that are placed 7 feet apart. We then measure the middle of the board. Next, we place 150 lbs of sandbags on the top middle and record the deflection (the change from the original position).

In this case, the Red Paddle Co 12’6’’ Voyager bent 1 inch. This is a great score and backs up Red’s amazing construction process and attention to detail. When paddling this board, it’s easy to feel its rigidity, so we weren’t surprised when we saw this result.

Features/Accessory Review: [8.2/10]

Much like Red can construct such high-quality boards, they are advanced when it comes to designing their SUPs to be minimalistic but still contain all of the features necessary for a sweet setup. On the Voyager, there are 5 handles, 3 flat strap bungee cargo holders, D-rings strategically placed throughout the deck, a diamond groove deck pad section on the tail of the board, and of course, the V-hull on the underside!

All of the features that are attached to the board after the fact are secure and pressed on with quality in mind. We love that there are extra D-rings towards the tail of the board for the option to strap down even more stuff – it reminds us that this SUP can hold up to 330 lbs and we might as well take advantage of it by strapping down a cooler with a bunch of snacks!

A note on the V-Hull: The pointed nose is not only extended but has an undercut that helps break the surface tension of the water. Both of these items are extraordinarily durable. The Titan II pump is one of our favorite pumps we have tested so far because it can pump the board up to 20 PSI faster and easier than most other pumps. It’s a dual chamber, high-pressure pump that truly puts the volume into your board with minimal effort required. We tested it ourselves and although it’s hard to believe, it only took 5 minutes! Typically it takes around 14 – 15 minutes with other hand pumps we have tried.

The bag is 160 liters and roomy enough to easily maneuver your rolled-up SUP in and out of. Also, there are extra pockets meant to hold accessories and an outside pocket specifically for the fins, which we admire.

Red Paddle Co does not include a paddle with their package, and at first, we didn’t understand this and wished they would include a paddle. But now, we realize it’s for good reason: it allows Red to keep their board prices lower and it reduces waste for those who already own a paddle. Summary Review of the Red Paddle Co 12’6’’ Voyager – 2023

The Red Paddle Co 12’6’’ Voyager is a stellar touring/adventure board in almost every regard, from the performance of the SUP to its great deck design and awesome accessories that come with the paddleboard.

The 330 lb recommended weight capacity is more than enough to support most adult sized paddlers, especially due to the stability support provided by using the dual-side fin setup. The new V-Hull, displacement hull, and 12’6’’ length provide a fantastic glide, along with excellent tracking and speed thanks to the way the V-Hull breaks through the surface tension of the water. The MSL construction is as great as ever, and complemented by the reinforced taped rails and RSS baton system, this is an extremely rigid SUP that makes every trip to the water an absolute joy.

Hey Justin – thanks for the in depth reviews! I am looking to upgrade from a beginner inflatable that I have used for 5-6 years – it’s feeling a bit slow. I split my time between Tahoe & other mountain lakes and the San Francisco Bay area, and love to do everything from lite surfing to 15 mile one-way journeys.

Any recommendation between the Voyager or Sport from Red Paddle Co? At 200 pounds I think I would get the 12’6″ in either one!

Given you want to do some surfing, then I’d recommend the Sport. I haven’t tested it, but I have a feeling the V-hull design on the Voyager would not perform as well on the waves.

Hi! Really great review. I am deciding between the sport boards and the voyagers at the moment but cannot decide which is best suited for me as I weigh 70 kg. I was wanting to take my girlfriend on board but she weighs 70 too. I like the fact that the 11,3 sport is 4,7 inches but then I’m not sure if it could hold us both. I’d be mostly paddling on lakes and sometimes the sea. Do you think the voyager would be a better option for two people? Thanks a lot !

First question is – are you able to find those boards in stock right now? It’s hard to find. If you can find them, then I’d recommend going for the longer 12’6 Sport or Voyager. The 11’3 just doesn’t have the volume to have you and your partner on the SUP without really hindering the performance. Sadly, it’s just too hard from a technology standpoint to get a good performing inflatable that is 12’6 or longer and be 4.7″ thick. You just need that 6″ to keep the board firm and stable. However – I don’t notice much performance loss with the 12’6 sport or Voyager. They are both fantastic boards that I think you will really like.

IF you can’t find those, then you could also check out the Blackfin Model V . It’s a bit cheaper but is still a really good board. It’s not quite as fast as the Red Paddle Co, but it’s close and it comes with a ton of great accessory options. Just something to think about if you are wanting a board soon.

Hello, thank you very much for the review. I am looking for a red paddle board to use with my girlfriend, I weigh 75 kilos, she 55 kilos and we would carry a bag with food (about 5 kilos). In total it would be 135 kilos. Do you think we could use the Ride 10.8 to ride together? the Tandem model is too expensive for me. Thank you very much for your help.

I would not recommend the ride for that much weight. It might technically be able to hold you both, but it won’t be stable – and it will be extremely slow and not fun. If the larger Voyager or tandem boards are too expensive for you, then I’d recommend looking at the Blackfin Model XL or Bluefin Cruise 15′ tandem sups.

On the Voyager it indicates 110 kg while on the Ride 10.8 it indicates 110+ kg. Voyager 12.6 looks very good board. Excuse my English. Thank you very much for your help, you are very kind.

No worries – your english is great! And sorry, I thought you asked about the 10’6 Ride. The 10’8 Ride does have more volume than the 10’6, but it still doesn’t have as much volume as the Voyager (280 liters vs 360 liters) and I think the Voyager would do a better job for 2 people.

That being said, just keep in mind that Red Paddle Co didn’t technically design the Voyager to be paddled with two people. I have paddled with my wife sitting down on it, but you will struggle if the other person tries to stand. Tandem boards are much better (sadly they just cost a lot more as well).

Thank you very much for your help Justin. I have read your article about the 11.3 Sport model that you give a 9.9 score, and I think I will finally wait a few months to save and be able to buy 2 boards instead of just one. I have discarded the tandem models because they seem too big to me and at some point the table may only be used by me. So I think that for me the ideal model is the Sport 11.3 (I have never done paddle surfing). And my idea is to buy my girlfriend another table for her. The 12.6 Voyager model I have discarded because I find it too big and would prefer something lighter and smaller. For my girlfriend I shuffle 2 options, a Ride of 10.8 or the same board as mine, the Sport 11.3. The problem is that my girlfriend, due to a serious illness that has passed, has bad balance … so I think that maybe she with the Ride 10.8 model would be more stable (my girlfriend weighs 55 kilos) since the board has a 34 “wide. But I don’t know if it’s a good idea for her to ride a board much slower than mine … Is there much difference in speed between these 2 boards? Do you think the Sport 11.3 for my girlfriend would be unstable ? Thank you very much for your help and sorry for the inconvenience.

The Ride will be slower than the Sport, but you can always adjust how hard you paddle so both of you can stay together. Stability is always our first concern – if you can’t stand on the board you are going to hate paddle boarding. So I do think your plan of getting the 34″ wide 10.8 Ride + the 11.3 Sport from Red Paddle Co would be a great solution.

Hi, I’m 71 kg and 5’6 and thinking about the 12’6 voyager as my next board, i have been using a ride 10’8 but feel i need something that would glide better and a bit faster. I mainly would be using it on reservoirs canals and lakes… possibly the sea occasionally but not very often or a nice calm river. Ive also looked at 11’3 sport but dont know what would be best. Also i would be taking a cool box and bag with a few things in but not looking to take camping equiptment.

You will greatly appreciate the upgrade to either the 12’6 Voyager or the 11’3 Sport. Both boards would be great for your use cases, so it comes down to your personal preference and availability (i.e. if you can even find one right now). I personally like both boards for different reasons. The Voyager I prefer for longer adventures where I’m taking a ton of gear, while I like the Sport for touring or fitness paddling where I’m going bringing a few things.

Exchanges can be processed through our returns portal with the exchanged product shipped when the original item is received back to us. 

Equipment should be new and unused, with all original packaging and/or labelling still attached to the product. Items that don't have the label attached will incur a 10% reconditioning charge, which we will notify you of after inspection of your return. If we do not hear back from you within 4 days of contact, we will return the items to you. 

All items are inspected before a refund is processed. Items deemed to be in poor condition will be returned to you. If any item returned breaches any of the terms outlined in this policy, we reserve the right to return the item back to you in the same condition it was received in.

The widest board in our Voyager range suits taller / heavier riders looking for next level touring comfort. Designed for bigger paddlers who are keen to explore, the 12'6" Voyager inflatable paddleboard blends performance with practicality.

Our innovative V-Hull nose combine with twin-fins at the back to ensure amazing tracking and glide, but also triangulate for a solid ride in choppier conditions. At 32" wide with 360L of volume there’s ample stability and float for maximum loading capacity – via our cargo system up front plus six extra anchor points on the tail. Constructed in MSL® technology combined with our patented RSS batten system, it stays incredibly rigid even when fully loaded.

Yet even durable Red kit will eventually reach end-of-life, hence our ‘design for disassembly’ approach. For example, all Titan pump components are replaceable, while using 100% recoverable virgin plastic in our fins, finboxes and RSS battens ensure they’re fully recyclable. 

Our manufacturing processes, like turning the offcuts from our EVA deckpads into keyrings, aim for zero waste too, reflecting our commitment to low-impact resource selection. 

How to store your board 

Before storing, rinse all equipment in fresh water and let it dry completely. 

To pack away, lay the deflated board deck-up and place the pump across the nose, leaving enough room to wrap the board over. Roll tightly, then secure with the strap. Use the backpack’s internal strap to secure the board inside. 

Store your board in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight. If keeping it rolled up, avoid excess pressure on the straps. If space allows, it’s best to store the pump separately. 

You can also leave your board inflated, ideally kept on a flat surface or upright – but do reduce the board’s pressure to below 15psi if not in use for a while.

What is MSL®? Safe. Stiff. Durable. 

Monocoque Structural Laminate or MSL® is the world’s leading drop-stitch material. Exclusive to Red Paddle Co boards, it’s made to our exact specifications. 

Monocoque : meaning the coating is integral to the structure. MSL® drop-stitch technology integrates a highly durable, reinforced coating to the ultra-high-definition weave to form an inseparable base layer. 

Structural : the high-tensile drop-stitch fibres are designed to withstand pressures in excess of 22psi, meaning Red boards can be inflated to provide unrivalled stiffness and confidence, no matter the rider weight or prevailing conditions. 

Laminate : the reinforced composite coating is bonded to the textile core using machine welding that applies heat and pressure to the inner PVC layer, saving over 2kg of adhesives and reducing cosmetic and safety concerns. Produced under low tension, this process creates a torsional stiffening effect when the boards are inflated, making MSL® stiffer at lower pressures.

The redesigned ATB Transformer makes our best-selling All-Terrain Backpack an even more versatile travel companion. Its standout feature, the innovative bagless carry system, lets you strip back to just the core straps when heading down to the water. 

An adjustable ergonomic structure offers optimised shoulder and back support, while integrated compression straps enhance portability. Thoughtfully designed storage – an interior paddle blade pocket, Velcro paddle securing, and a generously sized outer zip pocket – keeps everything together in the bag.

Board packages come complete with a choice of paddle – or if you prefer, you can choose to go without. Ideal for newer paddlers, the Hybrid Tough paddle combines a durable nylon blade with a lighter 50% carbon hybrid shaft for an easier stroke.

Our innovative V-Hull is a unique displacement hull at the nose of our Voyager range, created by strategically tapering the cut of the drop-stitch. The resulting vee effortlessly breaks the surface tension of the water to keep the board gliding more smoothly between paddle strokes. 

The V-Hull truly shines when faced with chop and crosswinds. Adjusting your position on the board changes the angle at which that vee breaks the water. Mit 52 Jahren und über 134Kg, bin wohl einer der die Tragkraft fast komplett an die Reserven bringt, trotzdem als absoluter Anfänger ist mir gelungen nur in 2 Tagen aufrecht zu stehen und zu paddeln.

Red Stand up ist wirklich Qualitativ Maga top, trotzdem es gibt was zu meckern, nach einigen versuchen in Knie Position zu fahren musste ich feststellen, dass die Oberflächen ist zwar rutschfest aber auch sehr scharfkantig was verursacht einige Abschürfungen an Zehen Oberflächen (Stand up Schuhe sind für mich ab den Zeitpunkt Pflicht)

Mit der Titan Sup Pumpe den optimalen druck aufzubauen (für mein Gewicht) ist sehr Zeit und Kraft raubend -Mühsam

I love this board, once on the water there is no board I trust more with me and my dog than the 12’6 voyager.

Simply put - it’s super stable, great for both my 5ft 4 self and my 6ft 4 partner and makes carrying all your camping kit for over night/multiple day trips (including the dog!) very easy.

Tracking is ace on this board with the dual fins and there is plenty of options for attaching your kit (or go pro) with all the cargo options (I really like the spot just for your bottle when I’m heading out for a short summer paddle).

Comparing to other models (11’3 sport, 10’6 ride, 12’ voyager, 12 compact) and although myself and my dog are happy on all the other boards, I can hardly feel his movement on the 12’6 due to the width (and height in the water) of this board. He has plenty of space to roam the board, to stand at the nose or to chill out on the deck behind me (his favourite spot).

I’m impressed how small the board rolls up too for such a big board, so it’s always in the car ready for adventures. Looking forward to putting the new bag through its paces too as we strip it down to the basics carrying system for some pre paddle hiking!

Without a doubt my go to all round board.

Red Paddle Co. Voyager Paddle Board Review: Built For Travel and Speed

Inflatable paddle boards are interesting beasts. They’re easy to store, transport, and travel with, but they take some work to set up and don’t typically perform as well as traditional hard stand up paddle boards. As someone who both paddles and travels a lot, I wanted an inflatable board in my quiver that was both easy to pack and fun to paddle. Much to my delight, the Red Paddle Co. Voyager is both – it’s stable, fast, and incredibly portable.

First Impressions

Straight out of the box, the Red Paddle Co. Voyager paddle board package is something to write home about. The included carrying bag is large but also has wheels. If you’ve ever traveled with an inflatable paddle board then you know this is a game changer. Padded shoulder straps are great (which this board bag also has) but wheels make traveling with a hefty inflatable paddle board much easier.

When I got the board inflated and ready to go, I knew it was going to be a fun one. The construction is super rigid and I love the assortment of handles and straps. It has a twin fin configuration (two fins), which you don’t usually see on paddle boards, so I was curious to see how it performed.

There’s so much to say about the Red Paddle Co. Voyager. As far as equipment goes, included in the package are the board, pump, backpack, and fins, so you have everything you need to get on the water (minus the paddle).

Like most iSUPS, this board takes a bit of work to get it ready to roll. To make the experience as painless as possible, Red Paddle Co. included their signature twin chamber pump for speedy inflation. I have tried a lot of inflatable paddle boards and pumps in my time as a paddler, and this is hands down one of the most efficient pumps I have ever used. That being said, it still requires some manual labor – if you’re not keen, consider purchasing an electric pump.

At 12 feet long and 28 inches wide, this is a long and narrow board, made for speed. More of a touring board than an all-around model, the V-Hull allows the board to cut through the water with ease. The board also includes front and rear D-ring tie-down hooks as well as bungee straps for securing gear, which I found super helpful for attaching dry bags and other adventure essentials.

A standout feature of this board is Red Paddle Co’s patented RSS batten system. To make the board more rigid, it comes with stiff inserts that you slide into pockets on the side rails. The result? Ann inflatable paddle board that is surprisingly stable and performs similar to a hard board.

Drawbacks of the Red Paddle Co. Voyager

At 28” wide, the Voyager is definitely on the narrow side. I am a very experienced paddler, so I prefer narrow boards as they are easier on my shoulders and are more hydrodynamic in general. But, if you’re a newer paddler or don’t have great balance this might not be the board for you. I did, however, have a few (fairly athletic) novice paddlers take the board out for a spin, and they didn’t have any problems. Think about your own skillset or consider renting a touring iSUP from a local shop before purchasing to see if such a design would be a good fit for you.

I have no qualms with the fins that this board came with. They are plastic, but for an inflatable board this wasn’t a problem for me. The only issue I did have was that this board is designed to specifically work with the Red Paddle Co. 8” Fin (Voyager) so replacing it requires a bit more work and money (they’re $39 a piece which seems pricey for plastic fins).

At $1,649, this board is expensive. But, you get what you pay for. This is a high-quality board that ticks all of our boxes – you’ll have to decide for yourself it that’s worth the price (for more budget-friendly options, check out our guide to the Best Inflatable Paddle Boards ). All that said, and this is often a gripe with higher-end paddle boards in general, I do wish the paddle was included with the package.

Final Thoughts

I have paddled the Red Paddle Co. Voyager with my pup, with my friends/family, and by myself when I want to cover long distances quickly. Although the price is steep, it is one of the best inflatable stand up paddle boards I have ever tested thanks to its performance on the water, ease of use, and high-quality accessories. If you’re looking to go places with your paddle board, this is the board for you.

MSL – Monocoque Structural Laminate

What is MSL? Monocoque Structural Laminate (MSL) fusion composite and airtight coating is a new construction process introduced in 2016. MSL involves fusing the second layer of hard-wearing polymer to the dropstitch core at the raw material stage, removing hand gluing errors. The high-tech industrial process also saves up to 5 lbs of weight per board and makes the boards stiffer at lower pressures.

The difference is in the detail. By looking at all of the individual elements of drop stitch Red Paddle Co have been able to develop a refined process to improve all aspects of board production.

Firstly Red Paddle Co have removed the process of coating the inner thread section with molten PVC – for them this was a redundant process, as they had no interest in producing a single layer board and only served as a base to glue our outer/double layer too. It was also a messy process with very little control. Instead they coat the thread structure in a layer of adhesive that has been specially formulated to create both a seal and a bonding layer. Red Paddle Co then machine laminate a layer or high density structural PVC to this adhesive layer under controlled conditions – completely removing the human factor involved in traditional double layer application.

This entire process is done at the raw material stage by carefully calibrated machinery developed for this process specifically. The result is a consistent and high level cosmetic finish that has all of the durability and strength properties of our previous double layer construction. And because this process is done at the raw material stage Red Paddle Co is now able to benefit from torsional stiffness as the material is put under tension when the board is inflated.

It all sounds simple but like the best single malt whiskey or a finely tuned engine the components and method have needed to be refined over and over again until they created the ultimate blend of performance, quality and weight.

So what are the benefits to paddlers?

• Cosmetic finish – All Red Paddle Co boards have an industry leading cosmetic finish. No wrinkles or blemishes. The boards look cleaner and smoother, and even feel better to the touch.
• Lighter – All Red Paddle Co boards are up to 5 lbs or 2 kgs lighter than many competitors. But very importantly they are not too light. If a board is ultra light or too light, it is more affected by wind and current while on the water. MSL boards have a lightweight yet reassuring feel.
• Stiffer at lower pressures – Due to the Torsional Stiffness effect, all Red Paddle Co boards are stiffer at lower pressures. Red Paddle Co recommend a pressure of between 16-22psi. Less pumping more paddling.

Titan 2 Pump

The Titan Pump was completely re-imagined and re-engineered for 2021. Red Paddle Co have taken the already proven double chamber format and focussed on ease of use and ease of packing. They’ve also improved the fixtures and fittings to make for an even more durable pump.

The Titan 2 Pump is the world’s first purpose-built, double chamber SUP pump. It’s designed to cut the amount of time and effort it takes to inflate your board by half. Constant innovation has led to Red Paddle Co testing the absolute boundaries of inflation technology and as such, they’re confident that there’s nothing quite like the Titan 2 pump on the market. The Dual Cylinder system, combined with the Hi Flo handle means you are in complete control of the energy used to inflate your board. It puts the air into your board faster and reduces the effort required to reach a higher pressure.

The packed size is 2/3rds less than the current Titan pump, which makes rolling the board much easier and results in a tighter rolled board.

Updates and innovations on the Titan 2:

• Folding feet and a removable quick release handle reduces the packaged size by 30% compared to the original Titan pump. This makes it much easier to roll and pack your pump and board.
• The chamber isolation valve is now an integrated switch rather than a removable plug, which makes it easier to switch to one chamber while pumping.
• A double-ended bayonet hose fixture (Halkey-Roberts) reduces leaks and removes damaged screw threads when attaching to the pump.
• Our redesigned air box means the pump hose now attaches to the main body to reduce the movement of the hose when inflating.
• An increase in volume overall makes for faster inflation.
• An integrated pressure gauge helps reduce impact if the pump is dropped.
• The standing position has shifted 90 degrees, so you are only astride one chamber.
• In addition to having wider feet, the Titan II is more stable and ergonomic, especially for smaller riders/pumpers!

The Titan Pump design concept features two chambers, one larger volume cylinder (low pressure) and one lower volume cylinder (high pressure). Think of it as a combination of the regular Ezee  and the  Ezee HP side by side. You start with both cylinders pumping huge amounts of air into the board, then at about 10PSI, you move the integrated switch and it pumps through the high pressure side only. You’re pumping double the amount of air into the board than usual, and can still finish it off with high pressure.

Put simply, we don’t use electric pumps as the Titan Pump gets the board to higher pressures, faster.

Other Red Paddle Co Features

Tec Air is not a product it’s a process. By focussing in on the key areas of the production process Red Paddle Co have been able to identify ways they can improve the end result. Whether it be detailing exactly where and how the layers are bonded or how the rocker curve is applied to the board, no area of the design process is ignored. The key areas of construction are inside the board. Red Paddle Co’s attention to detail on the inside ensures the best experience on the outside.

They use only the highest quality drop stitch. Drop stitch is the name given to the material inside an inflatable board. Red Paddle Co boards are built using specially produced, high density drop stitch that makes for a stronger and stiffer core. Take a look on the outside of a Red Paddle Co board you will see thousands of dimples spread from nose to tail and rail to rail. Each dimple represents an internal thread. Red Paddle Co does not use linear drop stitch which is a mass produced, cheap material that cannot hold high pressure. Linear boards can be identified by the straight lines of dimples on the board.

First of all, Red Paddle Co use a machine to weave the inner core. Next they cover the woven surface in an adhesive that both seals the woven material so it is air tight, and adheres to the second layer, which is applied in next stage of the process, see MSL above. They then attach the deck pad, fins and other parts to the outer layer.

Twin US Fin Boxes

US Box Fins originated in the surfing world where they are widely trusted to do a great job. A number of Red Paddle Co boards use them, including all of the Elite race boards, Voyagers, Sports, Whip, Wild, Dragon and Windsurf boards. Red Paddle Co use several different types of fin depending on the board. These fins are inserted after inflation and are simply attached using a nut and bolt system.

The 12′, 12’6″ and 13’2″ Voyager boards feature a Twin Traction Fin System. This Twin Traction Fin System allows the use of shorter fins to reduce catching in shallow water, but aiding board traction and making it easier to load up on land.

Flat Bungee Cargo System

Unique to Red Paddle Co is the new Flat Bungee Cargo System. The self-closing bungee straps are now larger, creating more tension to keep all your gear on your board! Updated for 2022 with the new “pocket” style main bungee. All boards come with three bungee straps on the nose, setting you up perfectly for adventures to come.

Red Paddle Co boards come with a 2 year warranty from the time of purchase. This can be extended to a 5 year warranty when registered online within 3 months of purchase. This maximum extension is only applicable to new and unused boards from the latest model year. 

Total available warranty based on board model year:

• 23/24: 5 years
• 22/23: 4 years
• 21/22: 3 years

This warranty policy applies to boards only. All other items (bags, pumps, paddles, leashes etc) come with a 12 month warranty. See our full terms and conditions for more information.

For any orders over £50 in value, you'll receive free next-working-day delivery. 

If you place your order before 2pm Monday–Thursday, you can expect to receive your parcel the next day (excluding remote areas). Orders placed before 2 p.m. Friday will be delivered on Monday. Orders placed after 2pm on a Friday or over the weekend will be dispatched on Monday and delivered on Tuesday (assuming no bank holidays or remote areas).

Hassle Free Returns & Exchanges

Returns are free if the order total is over £75.

Exchanges can be processed through our returns portal with the exchanged product shipped when the original item is received back to us. 

Equipment should be new and unused, with all original packaging and/or labelling still attached to the product. Items that don't have the label attached will incur a 10% reconditioning charge, which we will notify you of after inspection of your return. If we do not hear back from you within 4 days of contact, we will return the items to you. 

All items are inspected before a refund is processed. Items deemed to be in poor condition will be returned to you. If any item returned breaches any of the terms outlined in this policy, we reserve the right to return the item back to you in the same condition it was received in.

Shaped for smaller paddlers who value speed and manoeuvrability but don’t want to compromise on practicalities, the 12'0" Voyager inflatable paddleboard is a sleek expedition board. A game-changer for shorter, lighter tourers, it’s also an appealing option for advanced mid-to-heavyweights seeking a faster, more responsive, yet comfortable board.

At 12' long with an ample 285L of volume, this 12'0" Voyager happily carries plenty of weight with front and rear cargo points, although its reduced dimensions make it easier to handle than its bigger Voyager siblings. Its unique V-Hull and twin-fin setup offer a locked-in ride in all water states as well as superior straight-line tracking. This, combined with a narrower 28" planshape, means covering longer distances takes less effort.

Built in Red’s exclusive, high-density MSL® material, our patented RSS battens further improve rigidity. An elongated central handle makes portaging easier while our new removable side handles can provide more clear deck space, allowing for a wider stance.

At Red, sustainability isn’t just marketing hype – it’s at the core of what we do. As a certified B Corp (www.bcorporation.net) we champion high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability. 

Fundamentally, our boards are designed and built to last. Our quality-assured Tec Air process has an extremely low warranty rate below 0.5%. Maximising longevity minimises our impact on the planet.

Yet even durable Red kit will eventually reach end-of-life, hence our ‘design for disassembly’ approach. For example, all Titan pump components are replaceable, while using 100% recoverable virgin plastic in our fins, finboxes and RSS battens ensure they’re fully recyclable. 

Our manufacturing processes, like turning the offcuts from our EVA deckpads into keyrings, aim for zero waste too, reflecting our commitment to low-impact resource selection. 

How to store your board 

Before storing, rinse all equipment in fresh water and let it dry completely. 

To pack away, lay the deflated board deck-up and place the pump across the nose, leaving enough room to wrap the board over. Roll tightly, then secure with the strap. Use the backpack’s internal strap to secure the board inside. 

Store your board in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight. If keeping it rolled up, avoid excess pressure on the straps. If space allows, it’s best to store the pump separately. 

You can also leave your board inflated, ideally kept on a flat surface or upright – but do reduce the board’s pressure to below 15psi if not in use for a while.

What is MSL®? Safe. Stiff. Durable. 

Monocoque Structural Laminate or MSL® is the world’s leading drop-stitch material. Exclusive to Red Paddle Co boards, it’s made to our exact specifications. 

Monocoque : meaning the coating is integral to the structure. MSL® drop-stitch technology integrates a highly durable, reinforced coating to the ultra-high-definition weave to form an inseparable base layer. 

Structural : the high-tensile drop-stitch fibres are designed to withstand pressures in excess of 22psi, meaning Red boards can be inflated to provide unrivalled stiffness and confidence, no matter the rider weight or prevailing conditions. 

Laminate : the reinforced composite coating is bonded to the textile core using machine welding that applies heat and pressure to the inner PVC layer, saving over 2kg of adhesives and reducing cosmetic and safety concerns. Produced under low tension, this process creates a torsional stiffening effect when the boards are inflated, making MSL® stiffer at lower pressures.

Atb transformer bag ..

The redesigned ATB Transformer makes our best-selling All-Terrain Backpack an even more versatile travel companion. Its standout feature, the innovative bagless carry system, lets you strip back to just the core straps when heading down to the water. 

An adjustable ergonomic structure offers optimised shoulder and back support, while integrated compression straps enhance portability. Thoughtfully designed storage – an interior paddle blade pocket, Velcro paddle securing, and a generously sized outer zip pocket – keeps everything together in the bag.

Board packages come complete with a choice of paddle – or if you prefer, you can choose to go without. The Hybrid Tough paddle combines a durable nylon blade with a lighter 50% carbon hybrid shaft for an easier stroke. 

For those prioritising performance, the Prime is a powerful, lightweight paddle with a 100% forged carbon shaft and blade. 

Our top-end Ultimate is an ultra-light high-aspect paddle, optimised for efficient touring and race paddling.

Twin 8" Touring Fins .

The 12'0" Voyager features two ultra-durable 8" Red plastic touring fins. Designed with a raked leading edge that allows weed and debris to slide off without any manual intervention, so you can explore more freely.

The 8" twin-fins provide exceptional tracking, so you can paddle more efficiently and therefore cover more distance. Our US box fins are slotted in easily by hand and tightened with a finger bolt, so no tools are required.

Titan II Pump .

Widely acclaimed as the best manual SUP pump on the market, our Titan II ensures you’ll spend less time pumping and more time paddling. 

Its ergonomic design maximises ease and efficiency – pumping air at over 60mph in dual chamber mode. Then simply switch to single chamber to reach full pressure. 

The redesigned airbox integrates the gauge and hose outlet for hassle-free pumping. Sleek in-line cylinders, removable handles and foldable feet simplify storage too.

8ft Coiled Leash .

Our Coiled SUP Leash is made for all flat-water paddlers and racers. When paddling it sits on the board to minimise drag, so it won’t catch on anything in the water. 

The 7mm dual cord leash features double pivot points to reduce twisting, attached via a comfortable neoprene ankle cuff with a quick-release Velcro closure and built-in key pouch. Supplied with a rope loop for securing the rail saver to a D-ring or any other leash point.

Tec Air: Pioneering Paddle Board Design .

Red Paddle Co is the only inflatable SUP brand that makes boards in its own private facility, using innovative materials and manufacturing methods to produce quality kit you won’t find elsewhere. The Tec Air process is how we refine and develop our boards. 

We’ve taken standard inflatable technology and reworked almost every aspect of it. By pinpointing key areas, we’ve identified improvements – from the precise bonding of layers to the application of optimum rocker curve, triple-taped reinforced rails to our exclusive MSL® drop-stitch material, no element is overlooked. 

Before going into production our designs undergo rigorous research and testing. (We’ve even run tractors and a 22.5-tonne digger over them – they were fine!) Then manufacturing each board takes 72 hours: that’s ten times the industry average. Unlike most other paddleboard companies, we never compromise on quality. It’s this unique Tec Air process that sets us apart.

V-HULL: Gliding Into The Distance .

Our innovative V-Hull is a unique displacement hull at the nose of our Voyager range, created by strategically tapering the cut of the drop-stitch. The resulting vee effortlessly breaks the surface tension of the water to keep the board gliding more smoothly between paddle strokes. 

The V-Hull truly shines when faced with chop and crosswinds. Adjusting your position on the board changes the angle at which that vee breaks the water. When paddling in crosswinds, standing further forward will improve the board’s tracking – engaging more board beneath the waterline to prevent it from drifting sideways. The V-Hull also helps the board work more effectively through chop, maintaining glide by reducing any slamming into wavelets and helping the board cut through rougher waters.

SPEED TAIL: Drop The Hammer .

The innovative Speed Tail enhances glide and manoeuvrability for our Sport range and 12'0" and 13'2" Voyagers. This sharp trailing edge creates a distinct hard-release from the water, reducing the drag that can afflict square-tailed inflatables. 

The colour-matched, rubberised Speed Tail produces a clean water release. Improved hydrodynamics at the tail are designed to make paddling smoother and faster. As well as enhancing speed and overall glide, the Speed Tail also offers improved manoeuvrability for a superior, more responsive ride. This means more control in all water states, improving confidence in tricky conditions.

TITAN II: Less Time Pumping, More Time Paddling .

As an inflatable paddleboard company, we’ve long realised how important it is to blow-up our boards as easily as possible. That’s why we developed the original Titan pump – it was a real game-changer, halving the time it took to pump up... 

Since then, our commitment to constant innovation has seen us push the boundaries of inflation technology. That’s why we’re so confident that our reimagined Titan II is the best pump on the market. Quite simply, it puts air into your board faster and reaches a higher pressure with less effort. 

The double-chamber Titan II has a bayonet fitting at both ends of the hose, attached directly to the airbox to reduce leaks and so it doesn’t thrash about in use. Folding feet and a removable quick-release handle reduce the size by 30% when you’re finished, making it more packable and portable.
