On one hand I am happy for them... On the other hand... imagine having Mahler as you boss 😐 Edit: Anyways that game they made looks awesome! I should try it.  

There is so much genuine talent on display in Dreams - just mind-boggling to see what people have been able to come up with. Hope we see lots more stories like this and that Sony finally has the brains to promote it as a platform on PC and PS5 moving forward.  

This is excellent, all hard work have his reward!  

You love to see it! I only recently installed and started playing some stuff in Dreams, the first of which was Lock, that fantastic Witness-like game. Amazed at what folks have achieved in this. I could never do it, but I think if I were younger, back when I had a greater passion for game design (and the actual time and focus to devote to it), this would be a literal dream of a piece of software.

Cool that he got in through dreams, but having to deal with Thomas Mahler regularly sounds like hell.  

That is really awesome. I know there's been a lot of negative rep regarding Moon Studios' leadership but it's still nice to see someone with no game design experience previously land a job like this after just 2 years of working on a hobby

That's great news. Of all the Dreams PS4 stand out Dreams PS4 games on the PlayStation 4 version of the game Dreams for PlayStation 4 in Dreams, this was definitely my favourite.

Had to have been a better way to word that title. Also, Trip's Voyage is the best game on Dreams. I'd say it's one of the best indie 3D platformers there is. Well deserved!

Trip's Voyage is the best game in Dreams. Hell yeah, congrats to them for getting hired. Sony/MM were sleeping behind the wheel if they didn't offer him a position anywhere. Guy is talented as all hell.  

Holy fuck is that really something you can create in Dreams? That's fucking crazy!  

Dang, kinda bummed about this update as I was really hoping he'd have full creative control over his next project since Trip's Voyage is such an amazing indie 3D Platformer. Very exciting opportunity though and well-deserved; hope the job works out well for him

That's exactly the point imitating Mario on Trip because the designer wants it like that. It's not like he's illegally ripping codes from Odyssey & implement it on his game whatsoever. It's pretty impressive just by looking & try to animate/rigged from scratch so that it looks like Mario. Unless he's putting this kind of model, then maybe Nintendo will send their armies on him. Apã³s impressionar com o trip’s voyage, criador foi contratado pela moon studios e caso mostra como o dreams pode ser uma porta de entrada para a indãºstria.

De tudo o que foi lançado para o PlayStation 4, não acho exagero dizer que um dos títulos mais menosprezado pelo grande público foi o Dreams . Lançado em 2020, o ambicioso projeto da Media Molecule surgiu como uma ferramenta para criação de jogos e após esse tempo, ainda me impressiono com o que pode ser feito com ela.

Com pessoas extremamente talentosas dispostas a explorar os recursos do Dreams , a Media Molecule até criou uma premiação para incentivá-las, com o evento escolhendo o que de melhor apareceu em narrativa, áudio, inovação e várias outras categorias.

Porém, um evento como este nunca conseguiria jogar holofotes sobre tanta coisa interessante que surge constantemente no “jogo”, como a realística floresta que pode ser vista abaixo, ou então o Sonic Venture , uma criação que supera muitos jogos do ouriço e foram produzidos com uma enorme equipe por trás.

Inicialmente a Media Molecule até cogitou transformar alguns dos jogos feitos no Dreams em títulos independentes, com eles sendo vendidos na PlayStation Store, mas a intenção parece não ter evoluído e continua esbarrando em questões burocráticas.

Mas se para muitas pessoas algo como o Dreams serve apenas como um repositório de jogos, uma maneira de conhecer a criatividade dos outros e se divertir com títulos de menor porte, para outras ele tem sido uma boa forma de chamar a atenção de estúdios.

A própria Medias Molecule já contratou funcionários baseando-se naquilo que essas pessoas criaram usando seus jogos, com o mesmo tendo acontecido lá pelos lados da Sumo Digital. Outra que anunciou uma investida no criador de um jogo que se destacou no catálogo do Dreams foi a Moon Studios, mais conhecida pelos metroidvanias Ori and the Blind Forest e Ori and the Will of the Wisps .

Recentemente o CEO da desenvolvedora austríaca revelou no Twitter que eles entrevistariam um jovem designer que até então só havia trabalhado com o jogo do PS4. “É incrível que hoje em dia as pessoas possam aprender desenvolvimento de games jogando,” disse o executivo, que concluiu afirmando que seria ótimo se tais ferramentas estivessem disponíveis quando ele começou.

Logo algumas pessoas ficaram curiosas sobre quem Thomas Mahler estava falando e após a conversa com o misterioso criador, o CEO voltou ao Twitter para confirmar a contratação de um sujeito que por dois anos se dedicou à criação de um dos jogos mais interessantes disponíveis no Dreams .

Conhecido apenas como Eupholace, foi ele o responsável pelo Trip’s Voyage , jogo de aventura 3D que lembra bastante aqueles lançados na década de 90, como Super Mario 64 ou Banjo - Kazooie . Nele seremos Trip, um gato marinheiro que visitará diversos cenários bastante coloridos e bem diferentes entre si.

Com um nível de qualidade acima da média, arrisco dizer que se fosse lançado como um título independente, Trip’s Voyage teria uma grande chance de fazer bastante sucesso, conseguindo superar até mesmo produções que contam com a participação de vários profissionais. Mas se você acha que estou exagerando, confira o trailer que mostra a versão final da obra de Eupholace.

Ao saber da contratação, o cofundador da Media Molecule e diretor de criação do estúdio, Mark Healey, tratou de comemorar , afirmando que notícias como essas fazem tudo ter valido a pena. Para um projeto que visava colocar uma acessível ferramenta de criação nas mãos das pessoas e fazer com que elas adquirissem gosto pela coisa, consigo entender a empolgação do game designer.

A única coisa que lamento em relação ao Dreams é o fato de ele ainda não ter recebido uma versão para PC. Isso tornaria a ferramenta bem mais acessível e consequentemente poderia abrir as portas para muitos criadores que nem sabem possuírem o talento para isso. Porém, mesmo com a diretora de arte do estúdio, Kareem Ettouney, tendo dito em 2019 que eles planejavam uma adaptação, ela ainda não aconteceu. O que segue nos dando esperança é a afirmação de que este é um projeto que a desenvolvedora pretende manter por 20 anos.

Já para Eupholace, esse início profissional na indústria de games não poderia ser melhor. Recentemente a Moon Studios fechou um contrato com a Private Division para a criação de três jogos e entre eles está um que Thomas Mahler descreveu assim : “Se o Ori foi o nosso ‘ Mario ’, este será o nosso ‘ Zelda ’.” Considerando a qualidade do que esse pessoal já fez, é difícil não ficarmos empolgados.
