Facts about vaishnodevi yatra.

You have to register yourself at Katra before proceeding for Yatra. After Registration you will get Yatra slip or yatra parchi which you have to carry along with you for your Yatra. Registration counter is at Bus stand Katra. Registration facility is also available online at Mata vaishnodevi shrine board website and one can book 30 days in advance.

On the way food,tea-coffee, drinking water, toilets, medical facility are available in plenty. Important points on the way are Adhkuwari 6 kms, Sanjichat 9 Kms. At these two points accomodation, toilet and eating facilities are made available by Shrine board. Most of the people also visit Garab Joon temple at Adhkuwari. Battery operated cars are also available at nominal rates at Adhkuwari which is half way between Banganga and Bhawan. Prefernce is given to aged and handicap person for travelling in battery car.

On reaching Bhawan one has to get the group no for darshans after showing the Yatra Parchi. It usally takes 2-3 hours to have a Darshan after reaching bhawan depending upon the rush.

Usually it is hot in summers and Cold in winters. Temperaure and weather at the Katra town and Bhawan may differ. So dont mislead by temperatures of Katra town with that of Bhawan. There is a difference of 5 to 10 °C of temperature beween Katra town and Maa Vaishno devi Bhawan.

You can visit VaishnoDevi any time in a year. Mostly people visit the Vaishnodevi from April to August

Most of the people visit Bhairon Mandir after Vaishnodevi Darshan. Bhairon Mandir is approx. 1.5 Kms from Bhawan. You can trek back from bhairon mandir or from bhawan itself also.

Located amid the folds of Trikoot Parvat in Jammu and Kashmir, Mata Vaishno Devi Temple is among the holiest shrines as per Hinduism. The Goddess Vaishno also known by the names Mata Rani, Trikuta and Vaishnavi is believed to be the granter of boon and no pilgrim goes empty handed from her abode. Which is why devotees take a Vaishno Devi tour at least once in their lifetime to seek the blessings of the goddess and wash off their sins.

As soon as you arrive at Jammu railway station or airport, your sojourn to Vaishno Devi Temple will commence. Our tour representative will guide you for the road trip to Katra which is located 50 km away from Jammu. As soon as you reach Katra, you will be escorted to the hotel, where you can relax for the night.

Today you will finally embark on the holy Vaishno Devi tour. The shrine sits at an elevation of 5300 ft. and is counted among one of the Shakti Peethas. Maa Durga is worshipped here as Vaishno Devi, a central deity in the Shaktism tradition of Hinduism. The distance between Katra and Bhawan is 13 km which can be covered by helicopter, ponies or palanquins.

As you step into the Vaishno Devi Bhawan, chants and clashing cymbals will soothe your senses. Spend some time at the shrine and seek blessings of Mata Vaishno Devi who is worshipped in the form of three natural rock formations, known as pindies. The pindies belong to Maha Kali, Maha Lakshmi, and Maha Saraswati.

Later, head back to your hotel in Katra for night stay.

On day 3 you will be visiting Patnitop from Katra via road. It will take around 3 hours to reach the destination snuggled in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. As the name suggests, Patnitop is a hill top tourist location seated at an elevation of 2,024 m (6,640 ft.) and is adorned with lush greenery. The Chenab River flows near Patnitop, which adds more charm to the destination.

Upon arrival, check-in to the hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Guests can explore the panoramic and tranquil surroundings. Finish the day with a delectable dinner and relax for the night.

This is the last day of your spiritually enlightening Vaishno Devi tour with Patnitop. After having a wholesome breakfast, you will be escorted to the railway station/airport for the journey ahead.

Yatra involves a trek of nearly 14 kilometers from base camp at Katra known as Ban Ganga . Alternate way to perform darshans is by battery operated cars, ponies/palkis/ helicopters.

If time permits, visit Ardhkuwari & Bhairo Temple , now you can go by ropeway from Vaishno Devi Bhavan to Bhairon temple.

After visiting the temples, return back to the hotel in Katra and relax for an overnight stay.

Katra – Patnitop (90 Km / Approx 2 ½ Hrs Drive Hours Drive

Day 1 : Arrive Delhi On to Jammu

One yatra slip is issued to a maximum of 9 members. For more than 9 members, you’ll have to break your group into two and get more passes. After arranging the Yatra Slip, the pilgrims need to start their journey for Katra to Vaishno Devi and cross the first check post at Banganga within 6 hrs from the time when the slip is issued.

Reaching Mata Vaishno Devi

The 14 km trek to Vaishno Devi is perfectly maintained and well paved. Unlike most of the treks in India, Vaishno Devi temple’s route doesn’t come with rugged patches and uneven ground.

The path is created so that mules, porters as well as those walking for Vaishno Devi darshan reach there without any troubles.

Depending on your endurance level, you will reach the temple area in 4 to 5 hours.

Senior citizens can also take the facilities of battery operated autos. This facility is only available during the day.
