The Masters 2024: Fantasy DP World Tour – top performers and their keys to success 

We analyse three standout performers and the keys to their success at the 88th Masters Tournament , the first men’s Major Championship of the season on Fantasy DP World Tour.

Scottie Scheffler

The American lived up to his billing to win a second Green Jacket in three years at Augusta National Golf Club. 

The World Number One took the favourite’s tag in his stride and won his second Major with a four-stroke victory to pick up 191 points for those who picked him.

With 20 birdies across the four rounds, Scheffler was second only to Nicolai Højgaard in that regard, while he was one of just 17 players to record an eagle across the four rounds.

Of the 89 players who started the tournament, he ranked 11th for Greens in Regulation for the tournament, while he was 16th for driving accuracy – he made 12 of 14 fairways in both the third and first rounds.

Amen Corner has long been viewed a key stretch in the outcome of the Masters, with Scheffler playing holes 11-13 in a cumulative two under as an eagle at the par five 13th helped him to open a slender lead heading into the final round.

Ludvig Åberg

One of four DP World Tour members among 20 in the field to be making their Masters debut, the Swede proved an astute selection as our Form Horse in our preview, picking up 170 points.

Ahead of his first Major appearance – less than 12 months on from turning professional – the 24-year-old had registered three top 10s across his prior six PGA TOUR starts.

With the opportunity to become only the fourth player to win the Green Jacket – and first since Fuzzy Zoeller in 1979 – on their first start, Åberg came close to writing his name into the Masters history books.

He was the only player in the field not to three putt the whole week, ranking fourth best for putting (the average number of putts per green in regulation).

His short game ability was also in evidence as he had a 100% success rate for sand saves, getting up and down on six occasions – a feat bettered by only one other player.

Tommy Fleetwood

The Englishman arrived at Augusta National without a top 10 to his name in his previous seven appearances but will have left it hoping he has cracked the Masters code.

The Englishman has an impressive record in the Major Championships, having been runner-up at The Open Championship and U.S. Open, a factor that surely proved influential in him being selected by 14% of Fantasy players.

His closing bogey-free three-under-par 69 saw him tie for third on the leaderboard and ensures he now has top tens in three consecutive Major starts.

Across the board, seven-time DP World Tour winner Fleetwood’s game was in excellent working order.

He ranked second for driving accuracy and also finished in the top 10 for the Greens In Regulation, Putting and Sand Saves categories.

Shakira has announced an upcoming world tour during a surprise performance at Coachella 2024.

The Colombian singer shocked the crowd as she rose from a platform during the set of Argentinian DJ Bizarrap to perform their new track, La Fuerte.

During the performance, the extravagant backdrop on the Sahara stage switched to say "Shakira, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour".

The Hips Don't Lie star said: "Finally, we are going on tour. Starting here, this November in this city, can't wait. Couldn't ask for more."

Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, released last month, is the 12th studio album from the singer and first in seven years.

It tracks the singer's transition from heartbreak to resurgence, and was inspired in part by her break-up with former Barcelona footballer Gerard Pique.

The 47-year-old had teased the announcement in an Instagram post a day before her appearance. Translated from Spanish it said: "The wolf is coming."

‘A Different World’ Hits the Road to Help Historically Black Colleges

The beloved series was set at a fictional historically Black university. Now, cast members have reunited to visit and support real-life schools.

Picture a pampered socialite ostentatiously putting her generational wealth on display. Or an outspoken teenage activist leading a climate change protest. Or a charismatic opportunist luring people into his latest scam.

These descriptions apply equally to characters from “A Different World” — a sitcom that ran from 1987 to 1993 — and to today’s social media influencers. So it’s little wonder that the show, which streams on Amazon and Max, resonates with Gen Z.

The series began as a spinoff of “The Cosby Show” centered on Denise Huxtable (Lisa Bonet), and it became a hit in its own right .

“A Different World” broke ground by giving high visibility to an ensemble of aspirational Black young adults, following an eclectic cross-section of coeds attending Hillman College, a fictional historically Black university. There they dealt with typical collegiate growing pains — studying, partying, falling in love and stumbling into adulthood — and also with more serious subject matter, including racism, domestic abuse, gun violence, homelessness and mental health struggles.

“These things mattered, and these are issues which are still relevant today,” said Darryl M. Bell, who played the Hillman huckster Ron Johnson.

Now, more than three decades after the series finale, Bell and other core cast members, including Charnele Brown, Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Dawnn Lewis, Cree Summer and Glynn Turman, have reunited for a campus tour of historically Black colleges and universities . Their mission is to raise awareness and enrollment for such institutions, to establish a “Different World” scholarship fund and, of course, to give newer, younger fans a chance to see their parents’ hand-me-down TV idols in person.

“The kids can watch it on their phones,” said Hardison, who played Dwayne Wayne, a gawky math whiz turned professor. “They can really tap in anywhere — that has given us a whole different life with it.” The show premiered 37 years ago, he noted, “so to think that it’s still doing good work is a bit of a dream.”

Bell said, “There’s nothing new under the sun: Everything has its cycle, and it comes back and you find it’s new again.” (That sentiment certainly holds true for many of the show’s wardrobe staples, like oversize blazers, baggy denim overalls and bomber jackets, all of which are back in style.)

The spark for the tour came in 2016, when several cast members made an appearance at Norfolk State University in Virginia. In the years that followed, Bell courted potential backers to fund a full-fledged college tour. (Guy, who played Whitley Gilbert, the show’s resident diva, playfully calls Bell the “office manager” of the group.)

Getting the stars on board was relatively easy. “This is family,” Summer said. “The majority of us hang out on purpose .” Teaming up with Cisco and Wells Fargo, and the nonprofits Student Freedom Initiative and Minds Matter , Bell lined up six tour stops this year at schools like Spelman College in Atlanta, Howard University in Washington, D.C., and, later this fall in Alabama, Tuskegee University and Alabama State University; he hopes to schedule 10 more visits in 2025. The events are free for students, faculty and alumni, and Bell said the group is considering opening some events to the public because of demand.

Jaden Jackson, a senior at Tuskegee, has seen every episode of “A Different World” and recently started rewatching them, inspired by the tour announcement. “It’s a classic,” she said. “It’s a show I’ll never get tired of.”

“When people think of H.B.C.U.s, they already have a picture of the type of people who go there,” she said. “But it’s such a diverse group of people, and the show does a good job of encapsulating that.” She has a particular affinity for Summer’s free-spirited character, Freddie: “To see someone like me onscreen — who acted like me, who I would often be compared to — that really appealed to me and made me excited to go to my H.B.C.U.”

The tour kicked off in Atlanta on Feb. 29, with cast members giving talks at Spelman, Clark Atlanta University and Morehouse College. Instagram posts from the events show crowds giving standing ovations, snapping cellphone photos and, at Clark Atlanta, greeting the cast with a marching band performance.

“The Spelman panel that we did at Sisters Chapel was off the chain,” Guy said. “I was shocked at their excitement, their verve and their vigor. I kept looking at everybody like, ‘Yo! They are treating us like rock stars or something. What is going on here?’”

Hardison likened the reception to an experience he had while accompanying his friend Lenny Kravitz on a concert tour of Japan in the late 1990s. “It took me back to when he went out onstage and the Japanese kids were screaming,” he said.

The Spelman chapel, which holds 1,000, was at capacity during the event, according to a spokeswoman. Helene D. Gayle, the president of Spelman, moderated a talk with the actors and a Q. and A. session afterward.

“When I first took on the role of president of Spelman, people would ask me, ‘What’s it like? How do you feel?’” Gayle said in an interview. “And I’d say, ‘Well, I feel like I am on the set of “A Different World” every day.’”

She said many of the students had heard of the show from older relatives and had watched it on streaming platforms. Adrian Crick, a Spelman freshman, said audience members were well versed in Hillman lore. One student serenaded the cast with her own version of the theme song.

“I hadn’t watched the show, but my mom said it’s an important cultural touchstone for Black people,” Crick said. “The level of production that Spelman, Morehouse and Clark put on for them indicated to me this is something to pay attention to, this is kind of historic .”

When the tour visited Howard last week, the campus was abuzz with “Hillman at Howard Day” activities, including step performances by fraternities and sororities and a fashion show in which students dressed as their favorite characters. (There were, of course, multiple pairs of flip-top sunglasses, Dwayne Wayne’s signature accessory.)

An estimated 1,400 attendees were at the main event at the school’s Cramton Auditorium, with many screaming and waving cardboard cutouts of the characters as the actors took the stage. Kim Coles, a star of “Living Single,” moderated a panel that included appearances by Karen Malina White, who appeared in the final season of “A Different World” (and was Miss Howard 1985), and by the “Cosby Show” actress Tempestt Bledsoe, who is Bell’s partner.

Sinbad chimed in via video and so did Debbie Allen, a Howard alumna who overhauled the series in its second season. Allen told the audience that “A Different World” mirrored her own college experiences and described the show as a vital voice for young Black America.

While the cast members were in Washington, they visited the White House to meet with Vice President Kamala Harris and appear in a video promoting the Biden administration’s student loan debt relief efforts .

Summer, who grew up in Canada, was unfamiliar with predominantly Black campuses before joining the cast at 18. She said getting the Hillman experience was the next best thing and now considers herself a champion of the schools.

“There’s a reason we’re on tour right now,” she said, noting that it was imperative to remind people that an H.B.C.U. “is an incredible place to get an education and an incredible place to secure and dive deeper into our culture.”

Gayle, the Spelman president, said that the Supreme Court’s 2023 affirmative action decision , which barred race-conscious college admissions policies, had made H.B.C.U.s even more indispensable.

“We’re at this moment where I think what we provide young people is perhaps more important than ever,” she said. “I hope that the tour can be part of that, as well — showing young Black people and their communities how important it is to be grounded in institutions that value them, that reflect who they are and reflect the excellence that is resonant within the African American community.”

At Bizarrap ’s Friday night performance at The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, superstar Shakira surprised concertgoers with a performance of La Fuerte as well as their hit, Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53.

Shakira also announced some big news – the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour , supporting her latest studio album.

The festival is taking place in Indio, California over the weekends of April 12 and April 19.

The music paused as she spoke to the audience in Spanish and English. The message “La loba se viene” (the wolf is coming) appeared on the screen behind the stage.

“Finally we’re going on tour — starting here, in November!” she shouted. “Starting here, this November, in this city! Can’t wait!”

Coachella's opening weekend witnessed an unexpected twist as Shakira took the stage during Bizarrap's set on Friday evening. The Colombian superstar's surprise appearance thrilled fans and came with a major announcement: She's hitting the road for a global tour later this year.

Shakira joined the Argentine DJ at the 23rd annual festival in Indio, California , for a dynamic performance of their tracks "La Fuerte" and "BZRP Music Sessions, Vol. 53."

In a brief pause between songs, Shakira addressed the audience in both Spanish and English, "I have to share something today. Biza, I'm going on tour. I'm going on tour, finally ... starting here, this November, this year, this city. I can't wait. Couldn't ask for more," the singer said. She then revealed her upcoming tour is titled "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour," named after her latest album.

The announcement, which followed a cryptic message she teased earlier in the day, left fans buzzing with excitement.

Five things to know: Ryan Fox

New Zealand’s Ryan Fox is highly regarded across the world of professional golf.

This week, the greater world might get to know him, too.

Fox stormed into the early Masters lead with an opening nine of 5-under 31 at Augusta National Golf Club, in his second Masters start after finishing T26 a year ago. Fox qualified for this year’s Masters via the top 50 on the 2023 year-end Official World Golf Ranking.

Fox, 37, began the week with just three made cuts in eight TOUR starts this season, no finish better than T35, but he’s having little trouble so far at Augusta National.

Here are five things to know about Fox.

1. His dad is a rugby legend.

Fox is the son of Grant Fox, a member of the famed All Blacks team that won the inaugural Rugby World Cup in 1987. That year, Grant Fox set the world record for most points scored in a Rugby World Cup tournament. It doesn’t stop there, as Fox’s grandpa Merv Wallace (his mom’s dad) was a renowned cricketer on the New Zealand national team, described by one obituary as “one of the best batsmen New Zealand has ever produced,” per CNN.

2. Golf wasn’t his first love.

As per family heritage, cricket and rugby were Fox’s first sports as a young New Zealander, although he enjoyed hitting golf balls around the backyard as an elementary schooler. His grandpa Merv Wallace crafted his first set of clubs from wood, and he steadily fell in love with the sport through his teenage years. “I’d always wanted to be a professional sportsman,” Fox told CNN. “It just took a fair while to figure out what sport it was going to be.”

3. He’s a two-time Olympian.

Fox represented New Zealand in the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Men’s Golf Competition, joining his dad and grandpa in representing their home country in international sporting competition. “It was a pretty cool achievement … I think Dad was pretty chuffed when he could say that,” Fox told PGATOUR.COM. He hopes to make it a third straight Olympics, with this year’s golf competition to be played at Le Golf National, a regular French Open venue where he has competed several times.

4. He earned dual PGA TOUR membership via the DP World Tour

Fox has achieved great success across the globe, including four DP World Tour titles and three on the PGA Tour of Australasia, but this is his first season as a PGA TOUR member. He earned his card via the 2023 DP World Tour’s Race to Dubai, as No. 2 on the season-long standings (not otherwise exempt on TOUR).

5. He’s a family man.

Fox and wife Anneke have two daughters, Isobel and Margot, and the Foxes enjoyed family time at Wednesday’s Masters Par 3 Contest. They weren’t on hand for his Masters debut last year (when Fox’s dad caddied in the Par 3 Contest), making this year even more special.

Every time I go to a picnic or car show everyone's talking about the WEGO tour. Cool!  

The Austin show is coming up soon...then, it's on to show #3...
