It’s best to wear comfortable clothing and shoes as you’ll be walking around the vineyards. It’s also a good idea to dress in layers as the weather can be unpredictable, so keep aware of the forecast.
However, wine tasting is typically a summer activity; a light jacket or hoodie should suffice – you can always leave it in the van!

Most Vancouver wine tours take place in the Fraser Valley, about 40 minutes east of downtown Vancouver. This area is home to the largest concentration of wineries in the Lower Mainland.

We booked the cidery tour as a stagette and had a great time. Robert was amazing and so kind. He even prepared a lunch for us which was perfect after a day in the sun. Robert is personable and easy going. We all had a lot of fun.

Highly recommend! We scheduled a wine tour for my cousin’s bachelorette party and we had an awesome time. Rob was super flexible with pick-up locations and made sure he did not rush us whilst we were at the wineries. Wine Tasting in Vancouver: 12 Places You Have to Try
British Columbia is wine country. This province, located in Western Canada, is home to the world's northernmost wine region. And while most people think of Canada as a cold and snowy place, BC is home to several microclimates that are perfect for wine growing.
As the biggest city in British Columbia, Vancouver makes a fantastic destination for wine tourism. La Fabrique St. George Winery
Proving that you don't need to leave the city to have a great wine tasting experience, this urban winery offers exquisite wine tastings just outside downtown Vancouver itself. Located in the historic district of Gastown, La Fabrique is a great place to start your wine journey through Vancouver.
With over 20 years of experience in the wine industry, winemaker Chris Carson crafts each bottle with precision and care. The result is a fantastic selection of red, white, and rosé wines that are all available for tasting at La Fabrique. You can even take a public tour of the on-site winemaking facilities to get a behind-the-scenes look at how these delicious wines are made.
If you're looking for something truly unique, make sure to try La Fabrique's "natural" wines. These distinctive wines are made without any added sulfur, meaning they can taste slightly different from bottle to bottle. But trust us, they're all delicious.
7 E 7th Ave, Vancouver, BC V5T 1M4, Canada
Vancouver Urban Winery
This is another great urban winery located just outside of downtown Vancouver. And like La Fabrique, Vancouver Urban Winery also offers public tours of its on-site facilities.
Founded in 2013, Vancouver Urban Winery is one of the newer additions to the city's wine scene. But don't let its age fool you; this winery is already making a big splash in the world of Canadian wine.
The brainchild of industry veterans Ehren Seeman and Steve Thorp, Vancouver Urban Winery sources grapes from some of the best vineyards in British Columbia. They then use these grapes to create small-batch wines that are nothing short of exceptional.
Whether you're enjoying a glass of wine in the on-site tasting room or buying a bottle to take home, Vancouver Urban Winery is sure to impress.
55 Dunlevy Ave, Vancouver, BC V6A 3A3, Canada
Pacific Breeze Winery
The city of New Westminster is older than Vancouver itself and was the first European colony established on the mainland of BC. But now, New Westminster has been swallowed up by the larger city of Vancouver. It's possible to get to New Westminster easily via the Skytrain, Vancouver's Metro system, which will take you from downtown to New Westminster. And it's only a 20-minute walk from the Skytrain station to one of Vancouver's most exciting urban wineries.
Pacific Breeze Winery is one of the best places to go for a wine tasting in New West. This family-owned winery specializes in producing high-quality white wines, including Riesling, Pinot Gris, and Gewürztraminer.
But don't worry, red wine lovers can also find something to enjoy at Pacific Breeze Winery. The winery also produces a small selection of red wines, including Pinot Noir and Merlot.
No matter what kind of wine you're looking for, you're sure to find it at Pacific Breeze Winery. This winery is recognized as the first garagiste or garage winery in Canada, and as strange as it may seem to find such a quality winery in this urban environment, the wine they produce holds its own against any in BC.
320 Stewardson Way #6, New Westminster, BC V3M 6C3, Canada
Seaside Pearl Winery
Heading a little further out toward the Fraser Valley, you'll find this suburban gem. Seaside Pearl Winery is yet another great spot for a wine tasting near Vancouver.

The winery also offers a range of other services, including public and private tastings, wine-making courses, and even wedding packages. Sample their products in their well-appointed tasting room, and you'll see why this remains one of the most popular urban wineries in Vancouver.
3033 232 St, Langley, BC V2Z 3A8, Canada
Fraser Valley Wine Tour
Visit four wineries on this fun tour from downtown Vancouver. A limo bus will take your party from the city out to the Fraser Valley, where you'll visit four different wineries, each with its own tasting room where you can sample delicious wines.
Your tour includes stops at Fraser Valley Cider Company, Backyard Vineyards, Krause Berry Farms & Estate Winery, and Abbotsford Vancouver Urban Winery.
You'll also enjoy a gourmet lunch at one of the wineries, as well as a cheese and fruit platter that you can enjoy on the bus ride back to Vancouver.
This is the perfect way to sample some of the best wines in the Fraser Valley without having to worry about driving.
If you prefer to embark on your own expedition, check out the Fraser Valley Wine Circle. This group of eight wineries located throughout the Fraser Valley offers a joint wine passport, which allows you to sample wines at all participating wineries over the course of a year.
The passport costs $30 and can be purchased at any of the participating wineries.
Various locations
Singletree Winery
This urban winery is located in the heart of downtown Vancouver. Singletree Winery is known for its small-batch, artisanal wines, which are produced using grapes sourced from some of the best vineyards in British Columbia, including some of the best red wine offerings around. 5782 Mount Lehman Rd, Abbotsford, BC V4X 1V4, Canada

Sea Star Vineyards
If you're willing to make the short drive outside of Vancouver, you'll be rewarded with a truly unique wine tasting experience at Sea Star Vineyards . Located on Pender Island in the Southern Gulf Islands, this remote winery offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean.
Pender Island is only accessible by ferry, making Sea Star Vineyards feel like a true hidden gem. But once you make the journey out here, you'll quickly see why this vineyard is worth the extra effort.
Sea Star produces a wide variety of white, red, and rosé wines. But they're best known for their stunning sparkling wine, which is made in the traditional Champagne method.
In addition to their exceptional wines, Sea Star Vineyards is also home to a cidery and a distillery. So no matter what your drink of choice is, you're sure to find something you love at this one-of-a-kind destination.
6621 Harbour Hill Dr, Pender Island, BC V0N 2M1, Canada
Okanagan Wine Tours
Finally, we can't talk about the world of BC wine without mentioning the Okanagan. This semiarid region is based around the vast Okanagan Lake, and its warm climate makes it perfect for winemaking. Although it's over a four-hour drive from Vancouver, if you're a true wine lover, it's well worth the trip. This region is home to some of the best-loved labels in all of Canada, and there are more wineries to visit here than you could get to with even a week to spare.
As you can see, Vancouver is an exceptional place to visit for those who love wine. Whether you want to stick to the tasting rooms and urban wineries of the city itself or are willing to travel a little further afield to sample wine straight from the producers, there are almost infinite options available here.
Of course, Vancouver has more to offer than just wine. Check out our guide on how to spend three days in the city for more information on all the great things there are to do here. Top 3 Mountain Biking Trails within 30 miles of Vancouver
Vancouver, Washington is the perfect destination to satisfy your biking needs . From paved paths to intense downhill trails, Vancouver has a little bit of everything for everyone.
One of the best places in the Pacific Northwest to get your adrenaline pumping is located at Yacolt Burn State Forest . About 40 minutes from downtown , this riding area has some of the best trails in the United States. Two trails that really stand out are Thrillium and Cold Creek .
Last year, I made a “Top 10 trails I rode in 2023” series on social media, and Thrillium got the number one spot on this list! Thrillium is rated as a black diamond downhill trail with 1,600ft of descending and two miles long. From tight and technical in the trees to fast and flowy over the jumps, this trail offers a variety of advanced features. One of my favorite parts of this trail is towards the end, where there are a series of big table-tops to jump and throw down some style!
My number two trail is Cold Creek , also located at Yacolt Burn State Forest. This classic single-track downhill trail is historic to the area and rated as a blue downhill trail with 1,860ft of descending and is about four miles long. With that much time descending, a few breaks along the way are always nice to catch your breath and recover a bit before heading right back into the fun.
I will have to note that one of the best things about riding at Yacolt Burn State Forest is that you can shuttle the trails in your own car. This means more time for riding downhill and no need for pedaling uphill! Along with the epic downhill riding, the views of this 90,000-acre working forest are beautiful and worth that selfie or landscape picture to share with your friends.
A 20-minute drive from downtown Vancouver to Camas, Washington and you will find another great area to ride. This riding area is called Lacamas Park , and it is more beginner to intermediate skill level friendly. This network of trails offers 63 trails that, in total, cover 15 miles. The best trail to ride here, in my opinion, is called Red Tape, and it is number three on this list. Red Tape is a blue trail and has 223ft of descending and a total distance of 3,450ft. Short but thrilling to ride, this is a trail that you will find yourself doing lap after lap because you can’t get enough!
On your next trip to or through Vancouver, make sure to check out the bike riding! After riding all day, make sure to stop at one of the many great restaurants in town. My favorite is Hopworks Brewery in Vancouver, along with great-tasting food, they have about 40 old bicycle frames displayed over the bar! You have to check it out for yourself.
Looking to rent a bike? Check out Camas Sport & Bike to check out their bike rental options.

We visited on a rainy Saturday afternoon without a reservation and although it filled up, we got a spot. The staff was attentive and friendly. The space was inviting, but a little difficult to hear with masks. There were four wines on the menu, from Walla Walla (big reds, in case you're not familiar). There are two wineries represented here, sister wineries. Every wine was fantastic! The tasting was $15/person and you get $10 off if you buy a bottle. We joined the wine club.
Exceptional wine and a wonderful tasting room experience. Space is comfortable and minimalistic. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. No nonsense Wine Club. You get what you pay for and I consider their club to be a good value. Their wines have depth and character. This is the only wine club I find worthy of the spend in this area.
Great place for tasting from a well established Walla Walla winery. Heidi was a wonderful host. It's a little hidden right now due to construction, but just a block down from Wild Fin. Definitely worth checking out.
Just visited this place for the first time. Good experience! Will write more shortly.
Staff was very friendly and we were seated quickly. We asked for a shared tasting. However, we were only provided one wine glass when we asked for a shared tasting. During COVID, I feel that two glasses with smaller tasting pours or individual mini decanters should be offered for peace of mind. We were bought a second wine glass for the tasting and purchased a bottle of the 2018 Semillon. We were still charged a $15 tasting fee. Airfield Estates next door provides 2 glasses, 5 mini decanters and waived all tasting fees when a shared tasting was asked for and bottle was purchased.
Pepper Bridge Winery had some really great Cab, wasn't a huge fan of the Amavi Cellars wines tho, but taste is subjective! The service was wonderful and our server was knowledgeable, polite and treated my friend and I very nicely! Highly recommend for a relaxing place to chill and drink some good wine.
The tasting room was super cute and the girl working was great! She gave us recommendations of where to grab dinner and what other places to check out while we were in town

Life isn’t always a Cabernet, as recent data might suggest. One of the biggest trends in the wine business, which isn’t exactly booming, is a rise in white wine sales, according to a global white wine market report by Fact.MR sales increased by nearly five per cent by the end of 2022, totalling $39 billion. Analysts say the market will keep expanding to reach around $67 billion by the end of 2033.

In 2023, Meininger International reported that the Rhône Valley had set itself the goal of transforming its image as a red wine region into a significant white wine producer, and it is not alone. Given the drop in red wine consumption, many wine regions known for red wine production are assessing their futures. High prices, high alcohol, and rich tannins have all played a role in consumers’ search for fresher, lighter, primarily white wines. And there is more.
French red wines have experienced a 32 per cent drop in consumption over the last decade, while global warming has caused problems for grape growers trying to adapt to rising temperatures and frequent heat spikes. Compounding the vineyard challenges are consumers trying to escape the new normal of warmer weather patterns spilling from summer into spring and fall by reaching for fresher, light white wines.
Ironically, the recent Gambero Rosso tasting in Vancouver, which featured a room full of highly rated Italian red wines, saw almost every producer pour an equally high-calibre white. From Prosecco and Franciacorta sparkling wines to electric mineral-soaked dry whites from Fruili, the Veneto, Marche, and Sicily, there was no shortage of excitement in the glass.
We may be known as the New World to Europeans, but the Canadian food and wine scene is entering a mature market era. The art of pairing food and wine has become second nature to many, and modern white wine from across the globe is proving to be a helpful vector for unlocking a wealth of food possibilities at the table.
The good news is white wine choices, including a tidy crop of local labels, are nearly limitless. Today, we look at several white grapes that are leading the way. Call it a grape wish list of sorts to keep the West Coast wine movement fresh and moving forward or an adventure to escape the dross of everyday wine.
Albarino-Alvarinho is the grape, and Spain is its spiritual home, but there are other versions in Portugal, Uruguay, Canada and more. Our pick: Terravista Albariño 2022, Naramata Bench, Okanagan Valley, $31.
Global interest in excellent, coastal, delicious Sauvignon Blanc has gone beyond New Zealand, with top labels from South Africa and Chile. Our pick is Jabber The Winemaker The Blend Sauvignon Blanc 2023, Valle de Casablanca, Chile, for $22.99.
The Ortega grape, a cross between Müller-Thurgau and Siegerrebe is a fresh, aromatic white making waves in some parts of B.C. wine country. It is a perfect wine for Asian fare. Our pick is Sunnybrae Ortega 2022, Shuswap, $19.50
Start your day with a roundup of B.C.-focused news and opinion.

Given space limitations, here are some other grapes to Google that could change your summer wine list in a good way: Assyrtiko, Garganega, Gros Manseng, Nascetta, Arneis, Timorasso, Semillon, Chenin Blanc, Grenache Blanc, Gruner Veltliner, Kerner, Müller-Thurgau, Scheurebe, Alvarinho, Arinto,
As life slows and the summer heat returns, you may find yourself holding a glass of white wine instead of rosé or red because the options are all yours.
Weekend wine picks
Castell d’Or Cava Brut Rosé N/V, Tarragona, Catalunya, Spain
$18 I 88/100
UPC: 8437020585040
Expect a pale pink-orange eye of the partridge colour and refined tiny bubble mousse. The nose and palate are a mix of ripe red fruit that persists through the finish. Ready to drink and versatile for food matching, the winery suggests spicy appetizers, fish, rice dishes, pasta, and creamy cheeses. Made in the traditional method, it spends 12 months aging on its yeast before disgorgement.
Kono Sauvignon Blanc 2022, Marlborough, South Island, New Zealand
$19.99 I 88/100
UPC: 9421003134010
There are no significant changes here from this reliable Marlborough Sauvignon producer. Bright and fresh, it leads with a mix of guava and citrus in an easy-sipping white where the acidity is in check. The style is fruit-driven, but they halt the fermentation with a touch of residual sugar to balance the palate and finish. Expect a bit of candied pear and grapefruit on the dry end. Serve with a charcuterie plate or freshly steamed mussels.
Argiolas Costamolino Vermentino di Sardegna 2022, Sardinia, Italy
$21.99 I 90/100
UPC: 8010544110754
We like to say you can set your watch by Costamolino because, year in and year out, these guys deliver, and the price of the wine remains stable and sensible. This Vermentino comes from cool, hillside vineyards above the Mediterranean in Sardegna. The nose is an enticing floral affair with lemon and ginger that spills onto a mid-palate of quince and juicy, ripe stone fruit with a twist of tangerine. Seafood, including squid, crab, clams, and mussels, is best here. Serve throughout summer.
Bailly Lapierre Saint-Bris Sauvignon Blanc 2022, Burgundy, France
$29.99 88/100
UPC: 3371801811445
Saint-Bris is a small appellation north of Bourgogne where Sauvignon is the AOC grape, not chardonnay. Wines from vineyards around Saint-Bris-le-Vineux planted with Chardonnay or Pinot Noir are not included in the Saint-Bris AOC but are allowed the appellation Côtes d’Auxerre. Given the herbal guava and grapefruit, it is obvious why Chardonnay is not the main play, at least not yet. This is an enjoyable round, nutty, almost baked pear-apple style of sauvignon that slides down easily, with just enough acidity to keep it fresh. The fruit is ripe to the point of nearly being sweet, but the juicy, fresh palate quickly draws you into the glass. Ready to drink with fish tacos or spicy sushi dishes.
Champagne Pol Roger Brut Reserve N/V, Champagne, France
$73.99 I 92/100
UPC: 089744142450
Pol Roger opens with an ethereal scent of green apple, nectarine skin, and brioche. On the palate, faint hints of toasted nuts and bread dough with a pinch of honey are balanced perfectly by its impeccable acidity. It’s one of the finest wines you can serve with fresh shucked oysters, and it offers bug value in a ready-to-drink Champagne.

B.C. wine of the week
Township 7 Seven Stars Rigel 2021, Okanagan Valley
$36.97 I 90/100
UPC: 626990264392
Rigel is named after the 7th brightest and one of the youngest stars in the night sky, but at Township 7, it is an all-Riesling sparkler grown at Fool’s Gold Vineyard in Oliver. The nose is aromatically Riesling with fresh lime and minerals blending with toasted brioche. The attack is round and lively, with bright citrus and more stony mineral notes that electrify the middle palate. This is a perfect wine for West Coast oysters and is long, flavourful, and complex. Sparkling Riesling is a good thing in B.C., and this one is super.
Value wine of the week
Famiglia Pasqua Romeo & Juliet Passione e Sentimento Rosso 2021, Veneto, Italy
$18.99 I 88/100
UPC: 8007880140200
This modern Rosso is a 40/30/30 blend of Merlot, Corvina, and Croatina, hand-harvested and dried for one month into wooden trays. The subsequent loss of 30 per cent water content concentrates the grape sugars, enriching the structure of the wine. Each variety is fermented solo in stainless steel, and the wine is aged in large, second-fill cherry barrels for three months. The final blend follows, and as you might expect, the Merlot and the drying give the wine immediate appeal and drinkability. The style is fresh cherry-berry with pleasantly spicy, soft tannins — a super value red for spaghetti and meatballs. There are no significant changes here, although the price continues to climb to a new high at $19.
