Work and Travel USA (Work and Travel in the United States) is the most popular international student exchange program (the State Department’s annual quota for participants in this program is over 100,000 places), Work and Travel USA is a cultural student exchange program that allows students from all over the world to stay in America during the summer months and, together with US students and students from other countries around the world, work seasonal jobs at various employers across America.

This program gives the opportunity for direct participation in the daily life of the people of the United States of America through travel and temporary work for up to 4 months during the summer holidays.

To participate in the Work and Travel USA summer program, you must be a full-time student at an accredited educational institution and attend classes in good faith, as well as must have strong English speaking skills (Intermediate Level and above).

The US State Department runs the exchange program in accordance with the Ordinance on Mutual Education and the Cultural Exchange Act of 1961, as amended. The US State Department defines organizations for managing international exchange programs in several categories. These organizations are called Sponsors.

Work abroad programs are a great way to earn more than just money. The list of advantages is practically endless: broadened horizons, new skills, improved independence, new friendships (and business relations), a new language added to your repertoire, and a boost to take your career dreams to the next level. You’ll be having so much fun overcoming new challenges and having new experiences that your job abroad won’t even feel like work; rather, it’ll be like one crazy (paid!) adventure.

So how do you even get a job abroad ? Well, you’ll want to start by finding the destinations where you can legally work abroad and then start your job search. Or, you can find a job that allows you to work abroad, and they will often sponsor your work visa.

You can also get a job overseas with no experience ! In fact, teaching English abroad is the perfect job in that particular scenario. However, if teaching isn’t your true calling, you can either apply for international positions while still at home, or apply for a work visa abroad and figure things out once you arrive.

Here’s how to get a job abroad:

• Choose a destination. Places like Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland grant Working Holiday Visas to citizens of certain countries and who meet an age requirement. If you want to work abroad for a year or permanently, then you’ll want to secure a job offer prior to applying for work visas abroad.
• Choose your field. Sometimes, it’s easier to figure out what kind of job you want prior to choosing the destination. The demand for certain positions is higher in some countries than others, which will make your job search a lot easier (or more challenging).
• Apply to open job opportunities. Once you know where you want to go and what kind of job you want overseas, then it’s time to start applying to work abroad programs! The length of this process will vary depending on your qualifications and prior experience, and perhaps even your proficiency in the local language. 
• Apply for a work visa. Once you find your job, then you can apply for a work visa. Most likely, you’ll need to show proof of a job offer in order to qualify. There should be someone at your new workplace who is in charge of assisting you with planning your trip abroad.

The best types of jobs abroad depends on what kind of experience you’re looking for. Do you want to only work for room and board? WWOOFING is for you. Are you okay with working odd jobs here and there in order to fund your travels around the world? You can find short term and seasonal work on orchards, vineyards, and farms in countries like Australia and New Zealand. Or, if you want to start a permanent career abroad, nurses, program developers, software engineers, marketers, and teachers are needed all over the world.

Your options for working abroad will depend on your nationality. You’ll want to find the easiest countries to get a work visa for citizens of your home country, since the process of applying for work visas can be drawn out and complicated. For Americans, it’s exceptionally easy to get short term work visas in New Zealand, Australia, and Ireland. However, as previously mentioned, you can get sponsored for work visas almost anywhere as long as you have a valid job offer beforehand.

There are lots of reasons for working overseas ! Perhaps the earning potential is much higher in a country abroad than at home. Or maybe there are better job opportunities overseas in your chosen field. Or maybe, like so many of us, you just really want to be able to live abroad sustainably! Being able to work abroad means being able to travel and immerse in new cultures indefinitely—and that sounds like a dream come true to us.

Amerika o‘xshamagach Germaniyani tanladim

O‘sha vaqtda juda havas qilganman va Amerikani, chet elni borib ko‘rish fikri paydo bo‘lgan. Oradan vaqt o‘tib Toshkent davlat iqtisodiyot universitetiga o‘qishga qabul qilindim. Shunda dasturni eslab, o‘zimni sinab ko‘rmoqchi bo‘ldim — birinchi mamlakatim AQSh bo‘ldi.

Ammo men sirtqi bo‘limda o‘qiyotganligim uchun Amerikaga bu dastur orqali qabul qilinmadim, so‘ng boshqa yo‘li bordir deb, Germaniyani surishtirdim. Unga borishga ruxsat borligini bilgach, shu davlatga harakat qila boshladim.

“Work and Travel” haqida. Qanday hujjatlar talab qilinadi?

Bu dastur universitetning 1-, 2-, 3-bosqich talabalariga mo‘ljallangan bo‘lib, yozgi 3 oy dam olish vaqtida Amerika, Germaniya kabi davlatlarga borib, ham ishlab, ham sayohat qilish imkoniyatini beradi.

Hujjat to‘plash va topshirish jarayoni ikki bosqichda o‘tadi. Birinchi bosqichda hujjatlaringiz yig‘ilib, yanvarda Germaniyaga “Job offer” uchun jo‘natiladi. Bunda quyidagi hujjatlar kerak bo‘ladi:

• Talabalik haqidagi guvohnoma.
• “Confirmation” letter.
• Xorijga chiqish pasporti.
• Bank hisob-raqami va ma’lumotnoma. Bank hisobida kamida $1000-$1500 miqdorida pul bo‘lishi zarur.

Ikkinchi bosqichda “Job offer” kelgach, viza uchun “Visametric"ga hujjat topshiriladi. Germaniyada ishlash uchun taklifnoma uch oy ichida keladi. Men 20-aprelda vizaga hujjat topshirgandim, u may o‘rtasida chiqdi.

Dasturning afzalligi talabalik davrda chet elga sayohat qilish imkoniyatidir. Uch oyga kelib, soatiga kamida 10 yevrodan ishlab, bilet va hujjatlaringizga ketgan xarajatlarni qaytara olasiz. Germaniyada bu dastur 3 oy bo‘ladi, ishlaysiz va dam olish kunlarida Yevropa bo‘ylab sayohat qilish imkoniyatiga ega bo‘lasiz.

Ishlar xizmat ko‘rsatish yoki qishloq xo‘jaligi sohasida taklif etiladi — fast-fudlar, mehmonxonalar, kafelar, omborlar, yig‘im-terim ishlari. Vakansiyalar turlicha bo‘ladi: fast-fudda kassir, oshxonada yordamchi bo‘lib ishlash, shuningdek, mehmonxona xonalarini tozalash mumkin.

Shuni ta’kidlash kerakki, ish dasturning asosiy tarkibiy qismi hisoblanadi, shuning uchun o‘z imkoniyatlarni real baholab, oshxonada yoki tozalash ishlariga ham ruhan ham jismonan tayyor bo‘lish kerak.

U yerda dastur talablari, qanday ariza topshirish va oʻzingiz uchun muvaffaqiyatli tajribani taʼminlash boʻyicha maslahatlarni topishingiz mumkin.

Qanday qiyinchiliklar kutadi?

Moslashish unchalik qiyin bo‘lmadi. Birinchi kuni va bir hafta madaniy shok bo‘ldi. Hamma o‘z ishi bilan qayergadir shoshib ketayotgan, hech kimning boshqa bilan ishi yo‘q.

Bu yerda ko‘p narsa meni hayratga soldi — tabiatning go‘zalligi, daraxtlarning ko‘pligi, yo‘llarning toza va tekisligi va hokazo. Germaniyaga kelgach hozirgacha Gannover, Gamburg, Berlin, Drezden, Leypsig va boshqa shaharlarda bo‘ldim, hammasi teng rivojlangan.

Ish topish . Men bu yerga katta tavakkal qilib kelganman. Bilet olib, viza chiqqandan keyin ish aniqmas bo‘lib qoldi. Kelgach qayerga borishni bilmay qoldim. Yaxshiyamki bu yerda bir yildan beri tanishlarim yashashadi, ularning yordami bilan fermada ish topildi.

Shunaqa vaqtlarda o‘zingizni tuta olishingiz, chet davlat bo‘lgach har qanday vaziyatga tayyor turish lozim. Kelgach fermada 4 kun ishlay oldim, ish qiyin edi. Undan chiqib ketib 10 kun davomida boshqa ish qidirdim va Bergxaym shahridagi “McDonald's"ga kirdim.

Shuning uchun Germaniyaga kelmoqchi bo‘layotganlarga nemis tilini o‘rganishni tavsiya qilaman. Shunda ish topish masalasida to‘siqlar ancha kamayadi.

Masalan, agar sizning nemis tilingiz unchalik yaxshi bo‘lmasa (A1-A2 darajasi), siz farrosh yoki xizmatchi sifatida ish topasiz. Mijozlar bilan ishlashni o‘z ichiga olgan bo‘sh ish o‘rinlari uchun nemis tilini B1 yoki undan yuqori darajada bilish kerak.

Keyingi masala — turar joy . Bu yerda kvartirani ijaraga uzoq muddatga olti oydan bir yilga qadar berishar ekan, bunda garov puli ham bo‘ladi. Masalan, bir “kvartira” ijarasi 1000 yevro bo‘lsa, bunda birinchi oy uchun 1000 yevro to‘laysiz va qo‘shimcha 1500−2000 yevro chamasida garov qo‘yasiz. Mebel, idishlar bilan uy egasi ta’minlab beradi.

Kvartiradan chiqib ketayotganda, uni yaxshi holatda topshirsangiz garov pulingizni qaytarib berishadi. Men uch oyga kelganim uchun kvartira topish biroz qiyin bo‘ldi. Shu yerning OLX’ga o‘xshash ilovasi orqali ikki do‘stim bilan oyiga bir odamga 450 yevrodan to‘lanadigan kvartira qidirib topdim. Kvartira narxlari yashaydigan shahringizga qarab o‘zgarib boradi.

Keyingi hayron qoldirgani bu transport infratuzilmasi. Bu yerda transportlar avtobus, metro, poyezd tonggi soat 04:00—05:00 dan tungi 00:00 ga qadar faoliyat ko‘rsatadi. Bundan tashqari maxsus ilova orqali vaqtlarini tekshirish mumkin.

Masalan, men bitta shaharga boradigan bo‘ldim. Unga borish uchun 3−4 poyezdga o‘tirishim zarur edi. Ilovadagi jadvalga qarab o‘zimga reja tuzib oldim. Poyezdga o‘tirdim, so‘ng bekatga yetganda, keyingi poyezdga o‘tadigan vaqtda ikkinchi poyezd ta’mirlash ishlarimi yoki boshqa sabab bilanmi kechikib qoldi va men 3-poyezdga kechikdim.

Shundan so‘ng tuzgan rejam ham o‘z-o‘zidan o‘zgarib ketdi. Yonimdagilar bu bo‘lib turadigan holat ekanligini ta’kidlashdi. Shu kabi vaziyatlarga ham tayyor turish zarur. Reja har doim ham biz o‘ylagandek bo‘lavermaydi. Bundan tashqari bu mamalaktda velosiped haydovchilar juda ko‘p. Velosiped bilan harakatlanish uchun sharoitlar yaratilgan. Maxsus svetofor, yo‘laklar, o‘tish joylari, transportlarda maxsus joylar va knopkalari bilan ta’minlangan.

O‘rta hisobda hujjatlar, yashash, transport, sayohat uchun ketgan xarajatlar quyidagicha bo‘ldi:

• sug‘urtaga — $50 ;
• vizaga — $100 ;
• Toshkentdan Germaniyaga yetib olishga — $300 ;
• “kvartira” ijarasi (3 oy uchun) — 1350 yevro ;
• Germaniyaga kirgan vaqtda “Border Control"da so‘rashganda oylik olgunga qadar, yashashga xarajat uchun qo‘shimcha pulingiz bo‘lishi kerak. Men 300 yevro naqd va $50 kartada olib ketdim;
• oziq-ovqat uchun o‘rta hisobda oyiga 300−350 yevro atrofida ketadi;
• transportlar bo‘yicha 1 oyga 49 yevroga “Deutschland” biletini olganman, u bir oyga sotib olinadi. Uni Germaniyaning ichki avtobuslari va poyezdlariga (ICE, IC deganlaridan tashqari) ko‘rsatib harakatlanaverasiz.

Sayohat masalasida Germaniya hududida 49 yevrolik bilet bilan bepul sayohat qilsangiz bo‘ladi. Ikkinchi shaharga o‘tgach, o‘sha mamlakat ichki qatnovlariga boshqa bilet sotib olish mumkin.

Iyulda biz Niderlandiyaning Maastrixt shahriga bordik. Chegaraga qadar 49 yevrolik biletim bilan borib, narigi tarafiga 8 yevroga borish va qaytishga bilet oldim. U 24 soat mobaynida Maastrixtdagi barcha transportlarga o‘tdi.

Yevropa Shengen zona bo‘lganligi uchun ham bir davlatdan ikkinchisiga o‘tishda pasport tekshiradigan maxsus postlar yo‘q, bitta avtobus yoki poyezd bilan o‘tib ketaverasiz.

Keyin Lyuksemburgga borib keldim. Unda ham 5 soat ichida 4 ta transportga minib Lyuksemburgning poytaxtiga bepul yetib bordim. U shahardagi transportlarda harakatlanish bepul ekan, qaytishda ham 49 yevrolik bilet bilan qaytdim.

So‘ng Belgiyaga sayohat qildim. Unga “Flixbus” (Yevropa davlatlari bo‘ylab harakatlanadigan maxsus avtobus) bilan borish 10 yevro va qaytish bileti 8 yevro bo‘ldi. Shunday qilib bir kun ichida Belgiyaning Lej (Liyege) shahrini sayohat qilib qaytdim.

Maslahatlar

Yuqorida aytib o‘tganimdek, Germaniyaga ushbu dastur doirasida borishni xohlaydiganlar avvalambor nemis tilini yaxshi bilishi zarur. Ikkinchi o‘rinda ingliz tili, qo‘shimcha turk tilini ham bilib kelishni tavsiya qilaman, sababi turk tilida so‘zlashadiganlar ham ko‘p.

Dasturga tayyorlanish sentabr-oktabrda boshlanadi. Yanvarda hujjatlar Germaniyaga jo‘natilishi kerak, keyin 2−3 oydan so‘ng “Job offer” keladi. Bunda va hujjatlar tayyorlash jarayonida Toshkentdagi bir qator agentliklar ham yordam berishi mumkin.

Muhimi, agentlik tanlashda e’tiborli bo‘lish kerak, ishonchliligini, litsenziyasi bor yoki yo‘qligini tekshirish kerak.
