“In this week’s new episode, South Park royally roasts Prince Harry and Meghan Markle with hilarious results,” says Max Nocerino

South Park started Season 26 off strong with its parody of the mental breakdown and antisemitic epithets from Kanye West. And now they take aim at another pretentious celebrity in Episode 2. Or shall we say celebrities? Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. This royal couple shocked the world when they officially left the Royal family of England, giving up their titles and finding a new life in America. Prince Harry was very vocal about how his family “abused” his American-born biracial wife Meghan Markle. And has since written a “tell-all” book on just why he had to speak up against the “injustice”.

South Park S26.E2 001

ROYAL ROASTING!

In South Park , it’s titled Waaaaa. What an appropriate title. Trey Parker is no stranger to directly lampooning famous people. But sometimes his parodies are clever substitutes that allow him more creative control and less flack from groups of people who may find the attack too encompassing and offensive. Therefore, the British Royal family is now Canadian. Trey has been making fun of Canadians for over two decades. And it’s a little safer to take aim at them because, well, nobody complains or talks about Canadians. Right?

Trey Parker nailed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle perfectly though. He presents the two as “victims” who just want their privacy. But in absurdist South Park fashion, they travel the world, holding up signs and chanting “We want our privacy. We want our privacy.” And then anyone who tells them to shut up is immediately interpreted by Harry as an attack on his wife.

South Park S26.E2 002

MEGHAN MARKLE

Meghan is cartoonishly obnoxious. And several times Harry blurts out truths about her like how he wasn’t fully aware she was half-black and half-white. And how she may be too controlling. Trey just hit a full genius note and took everything the ex-royals have been saying and doing since 2018 and displayed it all for the world to see. All the way down to Harry’s private area being frozen from his trip to the Arctic. Harry and Meghan cannot take the abuse anymore and move to South Park , Colorado where they hope they can get privacy.

Harry plays the drums, lights fireworks at 10:30 pm, and even plays polo on his new lawn gaining the ire of his new neighbor, Kyle Broflovski. I love the satire on how Meghan and Harry are such hypocrites in trying to remain private. But in reality, they’re both seeking to announce their presence to any who would listen. They hilariously even move into their new house on a jet instead of a moving truck. And the plane rolls down the street like it couldn’t be more obvious that they are rich and privileged. That also comes up a lot too, as they know they are rich and privileged. But still claim how “terrible” their lives in England were.

DUKE AND DUCHESS OF CANADA

The B story nicely ties into Prince Harry and Meghan’s nonsense with Kyle trying to rebrand himself with encouragement from Butters. He goes to a branding company (with a name I can’t say here) that looks to completely repackage his image and personality. Yet all the computer-generated attributes have victimss squarely marked at the bottom. This is a clever dig at victim-blaming culture as many women in American society try to get male attention with their Instagrams and dating profiles. But will fall back on the fact that they are being victimized when things don’t go their way.

Kyle tries out his new brands but his friends are not interested. In fact, they are quickly sick of him constantly bailing on them and easily decide to play video games without him. They are also sick of hearing about the former Duke and Duchess of Canada. Kyle insists he doesn’t care about them. But feels the need to pick apart every little tidbit of their activities and bother his friends with the analysis. This is a direct reference to how Americans are constantly complaining about how much they hate the ex-royals. Yet if they don’t like them. Why are they still reading about them, watching their interviews, and reading Harry’s book? Surely if you truly didn’t care about something, you would shut up about it.

South Park

My god they trashed Meghan in this episode. It was just hysterical how foolish and gaudy they made her seem. At one point, Trey basically says she is garbage by having Harry open her mouth all the way like you would a garbage can. Certainly not subtle. The ex-royals were NOT on my prediction list for this season. But I am so glad that Trey Parker did this. Well done. Solid A.

South Park’s “The Worldwide Privacy Tour” (Episode Review)

One of South Park’s most recent episodes deals with the Prince and Princess of Canada demanding privacy. Matthew shares his thoughts on this episode, as well as the series itself.

Matthew Yokum , Contributing Writer March 17, 2023

South Park is a cartoon that has been running on Comedy Central since 1997 and has accumulated 26 seasons and counting. The cartoon has never been afraid to speak its mind on politics and pop culture and continues to do so in season 26. The show, despite being involved in its fair share of controversy over the years, still accumulates an IMDB rating of 8.7/10.

In the episode released on Feb. 15, 2023, the “Prince and Princess of Canada” are found moving into the quiet and secluded mountain town of South Park , CO. The royal couple, obviously in parody to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, move into the town to find privacy.

To announce that they want privacy, the couple, of course, go on national television and declare that they want their privacy to the whole nation. After walking off stage due to the host “not respecting their privacy,” the couple go on a “worldwide privacy tour” where they travel across the world to major cities such as Paris and New York, getting the attention of the public to, once again, remind the world that they want their privacy.

The prince and princess eventually end up in South Park to find the privacy they so desperately desire. They move into a house across the street from Kyle Broflowski, who has been dealing with his little brother taking up all his time on the computer. Kyle shows up to school the next day to learn that his friends were all playing video games on the computer together without him and that he was left out and didn’t have “drip” like the rest of his friends.

Kyle learns from another kid at school, Butters, that he can rebrand himself to become more likeable to his friends and to people in general. Butters then takes Kyle to a company that will rebrand him into becoming more likeable. They speak to a manager who tells Kyle, “It’s not about who you are. It’s about what people are attracted to.”

Kyle gets annoyed with his new neighbors’ antics of loudly playing drums and blasting fireworks, then demanding privacy. He goes back to the rebranding store where he gets the brand, “Kyle: Thick-skinned, super cool, nothing bothers him, victim.” Although he is unsure of his new brand at first, Kyle decides to go along with it. Even with the prince and princess bothering him, Kyle does nothing and comes out on top, leaving his neighbors speechless and upset.

Kyle learns from this experience that because of the media and access to social media 24//7, people are just copy-and-paste versions of products and items. People need to be themselves and comfortable with how they are. No one should have to feel like they have to fit in or follow certain brands or ideas to show their true selves.

This episode of South Park is a good look into why the show is so good. It can spark controversy like making fun of the prince and princess, while also coming to a thought-provoking conclusion at the end with Kyle’s rant on superficiality. I have always admired South Park ’s ability to take something political or controversial and then make it into a unique piece of art, with laughter and reflection packed into each episode.

This episode, and others like it, is why South Park is so well-liked. It’s not because it is the absolute funniest show on television every year. It’s because in its efforts to make the audience laugh, it gives an attempt at reflection and how you can improve your personal life or how we could improve life as a society. No other show on television can do it quite like South Park , and that is why I recommend you watch this episode and stay tuned for the rest of the season to catch even more thought-provoking social commentary.

The prince of Canada and his wife try to find privacy and seclusion in a small mountain town. [1]

One evening, Ike Broflovski is re-watching the funeral of the Queen of Canada as attended by many Canadian celebrities including the new Prince of Canada and Princess of Canada and crying at the computer. Kyle Broflovski expresses concern that Ike is still mourning and asks to take his turn at the computer to play Darktide with his friends. The next day at South Park Elementary , he apologizes to Cartman , Stan and Kenny for ruining game night, only to find they ended up playing with Tolkien Black instead. Butters , looking on, approaches Kyle and suggests his problem is his 'brand', comparing it to a personal image or a commercial, and reveals he has been visiting a brand management agency, CumHammer Brand Management , to work on his. Kyle accompanies him there and Butters introduces him to his manager, Mr. Davis . Kyle wants to be liked and seen as "cool", and Mr. Davis suggests some 'brands' for him, such as rugged, vegan, compassionate and victim, or sensitive, outdoorsy, frugal or victim. Kyle questions that these don't represent him, and is reminded it's about making his brand attractive.

Meanwhile, in Canada , the new Prince and Princess appear on Good Morning Canada to promote the Prince's new book Waaagh complaining about the Canadian royal family and journalists, expressing their desire to be left alone and be treated like "normal people". The host expresses skepticism, claiming that the Prince has become a journalist and that because of her reality television series and use of social media, that the Princess is disingenuous in claiming she wants privacy. The Prince declares they will leave Canada for good and that they will find somewhere new to live, traveling to France , Italy , India , Australia , New York City , Aspen and several U. S. states, protesting about their desire to privacy on a " Worldwide Privacy Tour ", until they decide to move to South Park , hoping to finally have their privacy. They land their private jet on the pavement and move into the Cartman Residence across the street from Kyle's house , with the Prince playing his drums outside and creating noise.

The next morning, Kyle apologizes again for missing out on game night, complaining about the Prince and Princess outside his house, though the other boys have continued to play without him. Kyle promises he is a "reliable, fun-loving, punctual victim" based on his new brand, and promises he is working on himself. During his evening at home, Kyle is trying to watch a tutorial from CumHammer, only for the Prince and Princess outside to set off fireworks, play drums, and sing in protest against the Canadian monarchy, again insisting they need their privacy. Frustrated by their obnoxious behavior, Kyle calls the Park County Police to file a noise complaint, but when he questions them, the Prince tells him to give them their privacy and hit polo balls through his window. When he complains at lunch the next day, the boys admit they are sick of hearing about the royal family from Kyle, who promises to drop the subject, but brings it back up a moment later, causing them to leave.

Kyle goes in for a new brand, and Mr. Davis suggests a "thick-skinned, super cool, nothing bothers him victim" and urges him to stick to this no matter what and avoid going off-brand. He arrives home and finds Canadian posters all over his front door, but decides to ignore it this time, and goes inside to play video games. The Prince and Princess watch from their window, and the Princess quickly tells the Prince that they are being disrespected by him, and the Prince tries to honor her by rubbing his blue penis against the Broflovski's front window, yelling at Kyle to respect people's privacy, but Kyle does not react. The Prince returns home and vows not to let Kyle get away with this.

The next day, Kyle arrives at school dressed in a black shirt, playing up his new brand, winking at other students on his way to see his friends, greeting them and asking if they want to play after school, or not, insisting he would be cool either way and trying to portray himself as unflappable. Intending to thank Butters for connecting him with the brand management company, Kyle asks Jimmy about his new brand, Jimmy tells him that Butters is being beaten by Bebe Stevens outside. On the playground before a large crowd of kids, Bebe is pounding Butters into the snow while he continues to shout insults at her, but Kyle interrupts the fight. Bebe remarks she had been unexpectedly provoked by Butters who just started "talking shit" about her; Kyle tells Butters this is unlike him, but Butters complains that Kyle is interfering with his brand. Frustrated, Kyle threatens to take him back to CumHammer.

Back at the CumHammer building, the Prince and Princess intend to get back at Kyle by changing their brand and see Mr. Davis, revealing they have been using CumHammer's brand management since the Princess was a child. Kyle arrives with Butters to talk to Mr. Davis about Butters' situation, but the Prince and Princess recognize him and accuse him of following them and being "obsessed" with them. Kyle denies this:

"I'm not obsessed with you! It's this stupid place! Don't you see Butters? Teaching people to think of their brand just makes more people like them. This whole thing is wrong. They're telling you guys to reduce yourself into products, instead of people to be truly understood and loved. Don't you guys want people to like you for you, instead of who they want you to be? Look, we all have our faults. God knows I do. But if we just try to present and control an image of us for people to see, then we're just performers, instead of human beings."

The Prince agrees with Kyle's statement and affirms that he feels he has become a product, claiming that if he and the Princess really want to live a normal life, they need to give up on appearing in magazines and on Netflix, assuring her they can do this and not worry about pleasing people, but she becomes non-responsive. He looks inside her and finds nothing, his voice echoing from the emptiness. Kyle and Butters decide to leave, with the other clients of CumHammer following them out against Mr. Davis' warnings, and the Prince choose to follow them, looking back sadly as the Princess remains behind, refusing to join them.

At the Broflovski Residence, Ike is again rewatching the Queen's funeral, and Kyle asks to use the computer so he can play with his friends, expressing worry what they will think of him. Kyle realizes he is worrying about what people will think again and stops, then comforts Ike that he understands things get to him sometimes and it is who he is. He then hears a knock at the door and sees Cartman, Stan, Kenny, Butters, Tolkien and Jimmy who want to play outside instead, noticing Kyle has been going through a lot lately and figuring it would be good to get out of the house, heading to the basketball court . The Prince joins them, asking if he can play as well, and the boys agree; the Prince then pulls his drum set over and plays his music while they continue their game.

  • While Ike is watching the Queen's funeral for a second time, the commentator quotes "What a sad day for Canada, and therefore - the world", a nod to " Royal Pudding " where a different Princess of Canada gets abducted by Tooth Decay during the royal wedding ceremony.
  • The Cartman Residence , which was vacated since " City People ", was occupied by the Prince and Princess of Canada until " DikinBaus Hot Dogs ", where Cartman and Liane move back to the house.
  • Tad Mikowski from " Asspen " can be seen in the background when the Prince and Princess visit Aspen .

The Prince of Canada and his wife note  Not to be confused with the Prince and Princess of Canada from "Royal Pudding" move to South Park hoping to find seclusion and privacy. Meanwhile, Butters brings Kyle to a new company to help him with his personal brand.

  • All Girls Want Bad Boys : Invoked by Butters who, after listening to CumHammer, thinks that by being insulting towards people he'll come across as "strong and assertive" and people will like him, especially girls. However this gets averted when Butters tries using this tactical logic on Bebe who responds by giving him a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown .
  • The Princess of Canada is depicted as one. She speaks like a Valley Girl , is an incredibly shallow and obnoxious Attention Whore , bosses her husband around, and goes out of her way to torment others whom she believes has slighted her.
  • Subverted with Bebe. She's a popular Girly Girl who’s seen giving Butters a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown , but she has an appropriate reason for beating up Butters in that he continuously insulted her even though she never done anything to him prior.
  • Amazon Chaser : Butters apparently has an attraction towards Girly Bruiser Bebe to the point where he tries hitting on her. However, he believes that something to the extent of "Do everyone a favor and go fuck yourself" is a great pickup line, resulting in Bebe beating the shit out of him. Though this doesn't deter Butters one bit and he keeps egging her on.
  • Ambiguously Brown : When the Princess refers to herself as "ethnic", the Prince is genuinely surprised.
  • Kyle's speech at the episode's end boils down to this: if you want people to like you, just be yourself. Don't let a brand or a label that companies give you be your only identity because, if you do, you won't be a person anymore. You'll be a product. Worst yet, you'll be looking at a very shallow life, as the princess of Canada has become an empty shell of a person (literally and metaphorically) after so many years of letting CumHammer dictate how she should be.
  • Similarly, acting like you are fine when you are not will only make you feel worse; when Kyle tries in this episode to act like he doesn't care about anything, it makes it worse for him.
  • Annoying Younger Sibling : Ike is portrayed as this here for Kyle. He hogs the whole computer for himself everyday to watch the Canadian Queen's funeral, refuses to share it with Kyle even when it's the latter's turn, and curses at Kyle whenever he tries prying Ike off the computer.
  • Attention Whore : The prince of Canada and his wife keep drawing attention to themselves despite swearing that they want to be left alone. Only Kyle is upset by their antics, while everyone else doesn't care about them. When he tries to ignore them like everyone else, it just pisses them off even more.
  • Bait-and-Switch : The episode opens with Ike crying as he watches the Queen of Canada's funeral on the computer. Then Kyle comes in the room and reveals the funeral was actually four months ago and Ike is just refusing to move on.
  • Beyond Redemption : After seeing how empty his wife has become from being a brand her whole life, the Canadian prince ultimately leaves her at the CumHammer building, ending their relationship right then and there.
  • Be Yourself : Kyle's speech at the episode's end boils down to this. He tells everyone how businesses like CumHammer are just turning people into products and that you should want people to like you for being yourself rather than a label that others give you. His speech echoes with almost everyone, including the Canadian prince, and they all leave the CumHammer building.
  • Bittersweet Ending : Kyle decides to abandon CumHammer and the concept of branding oneself, convinces almost everyone to do the same, and the other boys decide to personally invite Kyle to hang out with them upon learning that he's been going through a lot of stress lately. However, when the Canadian Prince also decides to quit CumHammer, he is forced to leave his wife when it is made clear that she won't follow suit, having become an Empty Shell as a result of using CumHammer her entire life.
  • Boisterous Weakling : Butters attempts to project himself as "strong and assertive" and continues insulting Bebe even after the latter dishes out a brutal No-Holds-Barred Beatdown on him.
  • Book Ends : The episode begins and ends with Kyle and Ike fighting for the computer, only this time Kyle lets Ike stay in his seat after finally letting go of his problems.
  • Broken Pedestal : CumHammer becomes this to Kyle when he learns that their actions influenced Butters to insult Bebe, resulting in the former being subjected to a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown by the latter. CumHammer becomes this to everyone who used it (except for the Canadian Princess) when Kyle convinces them that the company made them so focused in worrying about their brands, they've stripped them on what made them actual people.
  • Brutal Honesty : Stan tells Kyle in no uncertain terms that the antics of "a prince and his stupid wife" don't make for an engaging conversation in the slighest, and that he shouldn't expect results from his friends who have a history of hearing about non-isolated incidents that will ultimately die down when people just start ignoring them. That said, him and the rest of the gang ultimately brook Kyle's feelings in the end and check up on him to make sure he's doing ok.
  • Bullying a Dragon : In an effort to appear tough for his brand, the wimpy Butt-Monkey Butters decides to tell tough Girly Bruiser Bebe to go fuck herself. It ends in her giving him a brutal No-Holds-Barred Beatdown .
  • Once again Butters. This time he gets the shit beaten out of him by Bebe while the whole school watches.
  • Downplayed regarding Kyle. While he doesn't get beaten up, he's gets harassed by the Canadian couple constantly, while his friends are indifferent to his plight ( though they do decide to cheer him up in the end )
  • The death of the Queen of Canada is once again, " a sad day for Canada, and therefore the world. "
  • The way Bebe beats up Butters is reminiscent of the way Wendy beat up Cartman in " Breast Cancer Show Ever ". For irony points, Butters constantly told Cartman in that episode that everyone would think less of him if they found out a girl had beaten him .
  • This is now the second time Kyle is blaming Canadians for making his life difficult. Unlike before however, Kyle's only blaming the two specific Canadians that are indeed causing problems for him instead the whole Canadian race and is trying to control his anger by ignoring them rather than make an angry outburst that leads to massive consequences.
  • Kyle seems to obtain some development where, unlike before he at least attempts to control his temper and he only directs his anger towards the Canadian Prince and Princess instead of their entire country, which hates them as much as he does, and does try to ignore them. He gets some more when he learns to Be Yourself and not to worry about what people may think of him, leading to him to not focus on his brand, letting Ike mourn the queen’s death as long as he wants.
  • The Canadian prince becomes a better person after Kyle's speech makes him realize that becoming a brand turned him into a product instead of a person. He leaves CumHammer and later plays his drums for Kyle and the boys as a show of kindness at the episode's end. The only one who doesn't change is his wife, who's too far gone from being a brand her whole life and is literally empty inside.
  • The prince and his wife move into the Cartmans' old house that they had to give up in "City People".
  • This is now the second time Kyle has intervened in a fight between a boy and a girl. Bonus points that Heidi, who was the girl involved in the previous fight Butters witnessed, is shown to be a spectator to Butters' fight.
  • Scott and Sophie are seen together as they watch Bebe beat up Butters which affirms the friendship established between them in " Basic Cable ".
  • When Kyle decides to ignore the Prince and his wife's obnoxious attention-seeking, she treats it as an act of racism before her husband starts rubbing his off-colored genitals on the window in retribution. When that fails to get Kyle's attention, the Prince vows that "he's not gonna get away with this."
  • Kyle yells at the Prince for accidentally hurtling a polo ball through his window, nearly hitting him in the process. In response, the Prince tries to hit him with a polo ball on purpose.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending : Kyle gets his happy ending after spending the entirety of the episode snubbed by his friends and harassed by the Canadian Prince and Princess, where the boys decide to personally invite Kyle to play basketball with them, while the Prince kindly offers to play drums for Kyle and his friends.
  • Eiffel Tower Effect : The Canadian prince and his wife travel to Paris, Agra, Sydney, and New York before setting on South Park. The shots of their jet arriving at the cities feature the Eiffel Tower, the Taj Mahal, the Sydney Opera House, and the Statue of Liberty respectively.
  • Empty Shell : What the Canadian prince's wife has become due to being a brand her entire life and not developing a personality of her own. In fact, when the prince literally pries his wife's mouth for a response, there is nothing inside her.
  • Even the Dog Is Ashamed : When the Canadian prince and his wife go to Australia, a mob of kangaroos hop away.
  • Everyone Calls Him "Barkeep" : Neither the Prince of Canada nor his wife are named. Also, the latter is never referred to as "the Princess of Canada", but specifically as the Prince's wife.
  • Everyone Has Standards : Kyle may have bought into CumHammer, but when he sees Butters get beaten up by Bebe for insulting her, he becomes disgusted upon learning that the company influenced Butters to act like a jerk towards her, to the point that he quits CumHammer and convinces the rest of the kids to do the same.
  • Exact Words : When the boys are playing basketball, the Canadian Prince asks if he can play. However instead of playing with the boys, he instead plays the drums near them.
  • First-World Problems : The Canadian Prince and Princess go on an international tour talking about the stress of being a public figure and lacking any privacy , while openly criticizing the Royal family for drama and badgering people for responding to their attention seeking behavior . Concurrently, the CumHammer marketing group creates brands for public and private citizens and every buzzword list includes "Victim" even if they are obscenely wealthy and winning awards.
  • Girly Bruiser : The very feminine Bebe proves herself to be a very brutal combatant as she gives Butters a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown .
  • Gold Digger : The wife of the Canadian Prince has all the hallmarks of one. The Prince is saddened when he realizes she won't stay with him once he decides to abandon his fame and status.
  • Hated by All : Everyone in Canada is shown to despise the Prince and Princess, to the point that a soldier farts on them during the Queen’s funeral and the entire audience boos them when they enter the talk show.
  • Henpecked Husband : The Canadian prince's wife is shown to be the one calling the shots in their relationship. By the episode's end, the prince seems to have grown a spine and decides to leave her after he realizes she's grown empty (both literally and figuratively) from being a brand since childhood.
  • Hypocrite : The prince and his wife, through and through. Wanting to be left alone is understandable, but announcing it in a way that draws attention to yourself to the point that it's nearly impossible to ignore (read: setting off fireworks and blocking the street while yelling at people to leave you alone) is like trying to put out a fire with gasoline while complaining that the fire won't go out. To drive the point home, when Kyle finally manages to ignore them (against all odds), the prince and his wife, who wanted their privacy to begin with, complain about being victimized because they were ignored .
  • I Take Offense to That Last One : When the prince is on the talk show at the beginning, the host refers to the prince's wife as his "Instagram-loving bitch wife" and flat-out states that her behavior is not that of a woman who wants her privacy. The prince isn't mad about what you'd think he is.
  • Irony : The prince and his wife say they want to be left alone, but they won't let anybody actually leave them alone... as they just keep protesting about wanting to be left alone. Not even the animals are safe from this as shown by them demanding privacy from a mob of kangaroos in the wild during their time in Australia.
  • Jerkass : The Canadian Prince and his wife, who claim to value privacy but constantly draw attention to themselves and play the victim card when they're criticized. The former does get better by the episode's end, however .
  • Jerkass Realization : After hearing Kyle's speech, the Canadian Prince realizes that focusing on his brand made him an attention seeking hypocrite . Averted with his wife however whose too much of an Empty Shell to have any realization forcing the Prince to leave her.
  • Jerkass Ball : Butters, normally an All-Loving Hero , decides to act like a jerk and insult Bebe at CumHammer's suggestion. He pays dearly for it when Bebe decides to give him a No-Holds-Barred Beatdown . Fortunately, Kyle helps him before he goes in too deep.
  • Kangaroos Represent Australia : During their Worldwide Privacy tour, the Canadian prince and his wife arrive at Australia, landing their jet in Sydney. However, they then demand privacy from a mob of kangaroos in the wild.
  • Know When to Fold Them : The Canadian prince non-verbally ends his relationship with his wife by leaving her at the CumHammer building, realizing that she's too far gone from the brand life and won't stay with him if he chooses to give up his status and wealth.
  • Leave Me Alone! : The prince of Canada and his wife want to be left alone but keep drawing attention to themselves by protesting... about wanting to be left alone. South Park and the rest of the world pay them no mind, but Kyle gets annoyed by how loud and obnoxious the prince and his wife are.
  • The Princess of Canada is the masculine girl being confrontal and aggressive whose clearly the dominant pair in the relationship to the Prince of Canada's feminine boy being submissive to his wife doing whatever his wife wants, while showing a kinder and humbler side to him once he leaves her.
  • Played for Laughs regarding Bebe and Butters. Bebe is the masculine temperamental Lovable Alpha Bitch to Butters' feminine and sensitive All-Loving Hero boy when the two fight (or more accurately, when Bebe just clobbers Butters exclusively), despite them never having an extended conversation with each other.
  • Scott and Sophie are seen together as they watch Bebe and Butters' fight. Sophie could be the masculine girl as she shown to be angry at Butters and cheering Bebe to clobber him, while Scott could be the feminine boy as he shows grave concern as he gets beaten up.
  • The Canadian Princess is one to Cartman. Like Cartman, she is a massive Attention Whore who frequently harasses Kyle and plays the victim card to justify her Jerkass behavior. Also, she’s the dominant one her relationship with the prince who she manages to influence into becoming just as bad as her.
  • The Canadian Prince is one to Heidi. Like Heidi, he's an Extreme Doormat to his spouse and becomes a Jerkass like her after continuing the relationship with her and even join her in harassing Kyle. Also, the Prince would get a Jerkass Realization and leave his spouse when she proves to be Beyond Redemption while becoming a nicer person afterwards.
  • No Celebrities Were Harmed : The Canadian Prince and his wife are clearly based on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle . Similarly, the Queen of Canada is based directly on Elizabeth II .
  • No-Holds-Barred Beatdown : Bebe beats the snot out of Butters after he tells her to go fuck herself.
  • Scott and Heidi are among the only kids showing grave concern for Butters getting clobbered by Bebe, while everyone else cheers on.
  • No one shows Kyle any animosity when he stops Bebe from continuing to beat up Butters despite cheering Bebe on, with even Bebe not taking out her anger on Kyle, a noticeable contrast to the time Kyle was insulted and laughed at when he previously did the same thing. Even Heidi, the girl who insulted Kyle when he intervened with her own fight, took no issue with Kyle stopping this fight, since she wanted the fight to end as soon as possible.
  • At the end of the episode, all of the boys visit Kyle to cheer him up... including Cartman .
  • Playing the Victim Card : CumHammer has "Victim" as the last item on the list for literally all their brands.
  • Screw This, I'm Out of Here! : After Kyle's speech about how it's wrong to turn your whole identity into a brand you create for yourself, he, Butters, dozens of other kids, and the Canadian prince leave the building. Only the prince's wife stays behind because she's dead inside from years of being nothing but a brand.
  • The theme to "The Worldwide Privacy Tour" spoofs the title track to Magical Mystery Tour by The Beatles .
  • The video game Warhammer 40,000: Darktide has been referenced multiple times throughout the episode, being the game that the boys are currently playing. The title of the Prince's autobiography, "Waaagh" , is probably a reference to the Orks.
  • Shown Their Work : Canada does have its entirely separate system of monarchy from the U.K. like the other Commonwealth realms, all of which are in personal union. This allows the writers a cheeky way of using a No Celebrities Were Harmed version of Harry and Meghan.
  • Sitcom Archnemesis : The Canadian Prince and his wife are this to Kyle, with the two always disturbing him with their antics while hypocritically demanding their privacy when he complains about them.
  • Skewed Priorities : Butters is more concerned about looking tough for his brand than he is about getting the tar beaten out of him by Bebe.
  • Swapped Roles : Heidi and Butters' respective roles in this fight are swapped with those of the previous one , both of which Kyle intervened in. Here, it's Butters that gets into a fight Kyle has to stop while Heidi is among the many kids that are spectating.
  • The main plot mocks Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for being obnoxious attention seekers who demand privacy from the public and try to paint themselves as victims whenever critics call them out for their hypocrisy. Harry's book Spare also gets mocked; its South Park counterpart is named Waaagh ( pronounced "whaaah" like a baby crying , not a rallying cry for an Ork horde ). When Kyle starts ignoring them, the Prince responds by rubbing his blue-colored genitals over his window, a reference to a passage in Spare where Prince Harry spends a chapter going into detail about his penis suffering frostbite during a trip to the Arctic.
  • CumHammer and its business model acts as commentary for the "personal brand" way of thought, making their impressionable young clientele focus on essential positive qualities (including Playing the Victim Card ) as a cheap and ineffective method of making themselves more likable. It had turned the Prince and his wife into obnoxious Attention Whores that harass people, with the prince's wife being literally empty inside as a result of having been a client of CumHammer ever since she was a child, turned Butters into a wannabe bad-boy that gets his face kicked in, and nearly alienates the already somewhat socially awkward Kyle from his friends, bringing his rapport with them to a halt.
  • Terrible Pick-Up Lines : Butters got his ass kicked by Bebe because he told her to go fuck herself. According to him, he assumed she'd be turned on by his assertiveness . Given how Butters was taking his lumps with no complaint, he probably hoped this would lead to Slap-Slap-Kiss .
  • After snubbing Kyle whenever he didn't have time to play Warhammer 40,000: Darktide with them, the boys decide to stop playing the game and invite Kyle to play basketball with them to help him relax.
  • After the Canadian Prince is abandoned by his wife, the boys allow him to play drums at the park while they play basketball.
  • Too Dumb to Live : Butters intentionally goading Girly Bruiser Bebe into fighting him, then continuing to insult her after she had beat him to a bloody pulp was an astoundingly shit-brained idea. Downplayed to an extent, as Butters did it more out of ignorance than genuine stupidity and Bebe has her own girl posse that would have backed her up, but it's likely one of them would have intervened at some point (like Heidi or Wendy), which, if the former's "dumb slut" remark is anything to go by, he was probably aware of.
  • Took a Level in Kindness : The Canadian prince becomes a better person thanks to Kyle's speech and leaves CumHammer and the brand life with the rest of the kids. At the episode's end, he plays his drums as an act of kindness for Kyle and the boys after they allow him to.
  • It was implied that the Canadian Prince wasn't a bad person before but after marrying the Canadian Princess, her influence turns him into an obnoxious attention seeking hypocrite like her. Sure enough after the Prince decides to leave the Princess, he becomes a nicer and more considerate person.
  • CumHammer's influence turns the All-Loving Hero Butters into a bad-boy wannabe who gets brutally beaten up after insulting Bebe at their suggestion.
  • Valley Girl : The Canadian Prince's wife speaks in this kind of accent.

South Park

Official Description

The Prince of Canada and his wife try to find privacy and seclusion in a small mountain town.

Full Description

Ike Broflovski , who is Canadian-American, watches the televised funeral for the Queen of Canada, who passed some months ago. The Prince of Canada and the Prince's Wife receive a poor reception from other attendees because they have been bashing the Canadian monarchy. Ike's monopolizing of the computer prevents his older brother Kyle from appearing online to play the video game Darktide with his friends, which results in their leveling up without him, leaving him feeling left out. Butters Stotch tells Kyle that he needs brand management, something in which Butters is being helped by CumHammer Brand Management . He takes Kyle there and an agent suggests possible brands, which all include the word "victim".

The Prince and his wife go on a tour to promote his book. They move into the house across from the Broflovskis. Though they say they want privacy, their various activities are disruptive to Kyle, and when he complains, they scream at him that he is violating their privacy.

Kyle attempts to use the rebranding technique telling his friends that he is a victim, and is working on himself, but they react with indifference. He also persistently complains about the royal couple, which prompts his friends to distance themselves from him. When Kyle's house is plastered with magazine covers featuring the Prince's wife, he tries a brand suggested that "nothing bothers him". Failing to get a reaction from him, the wife accuses Kyle of victimizing her. The Prince then tries to provoke Kyle by exposing himself to Kyle, but fails to provoke a reaction from him.

The next day, Kyle walks into school with a new look and a more positive demeanor, but learns that Butters is being beaten up by Bebe Stevens because Butters launched an abusively misogynistic tirade against her, which Butters refers to as his "strong and assertive" brand. Kyle goes to CumHammer's offices, where he is confronted by the Prince and his wife, who are consulting with Mr. Davis CumHammer Brand Management Head on how to retaliate against Kyle. Kyle says that when one tries to engineer the image by which others perceive them, it just makes that person a performer instead of a human being. Hearing this, the Prince resolves to do away with magazine covers and television appearances in favor of a more normal life and not commodifying oneself as a product. When this gets no response from his wife, he flips open the top half of her head, and inside finds only a chasm from which his voice echoes. The Prince leaves CumHammer without her.

Kyle decides to allow Ike his repeat viewings of the Queen's funeral, realizing that this is who Ike is, and that he doesn't care if this negatively affects his standing with his friends. Kyle's friends show up at his door, telling him that he could use some time outside to relieve the stress he's been experiencing. They go to the local basketball court, where the Prince asks if he can play. When they assent, he sets up his drum set on the edge of the court, playing music as the boys play basketball.

What I Learned Today

  • "Don't you see, Butters? Teaching people to think of their BRAND just makes more people like THEM. This whole thing is WRONG. They're telling you guys to reduce yourselves into PRODUCTS - instead of PEOPLE to be truly understood and loved! Don't you guys want people to like you for YOU, instead of who they WANT YOU TO BE? Look, we all have our faults. God knows I do... But if we just try to present and control an image of us for people to see then we're just PERFORMERS... Instead of human beings." - Kyle

Memorable Quotes

  • "I don't give a shit about them" - Kyle
  • "Nobody give a shit" - Kyle
  • "Sweet Drip, Dude" - Cartman
  • "Your Brand! Think about it Kyle. Who are you?" - Butters
  • "It is like a commercial for Kyle, but you are not putting the label on the jar" - Butters
  • "You will see Kyle, when you have your brand up and running, no one can stop you!" - Butters
  • "What the hell?" - Kyle
  • "We are literally dripping with drip" - Cartman
  • "I am really working on myself, you are gonna like what you see" - Kyle
  • "Fuck this people!" - Kyle
  • "That is the kind of guy I am" - Kyle
  • "Cool, whatever. I'm care-free and unflappable." - Kyle

South Park: All The Fallout From “The Worldwide Privacy Tour”

If you need any further proof on who the undisputed king of adult animated comedy is, this week should have been the reminder of who it is… South Park.  After 26 seasons, this show is still getting people talking, pissing off celebrities, and making tons of money in the process while doing so.

Week over week, “ The Worldwide Privacy Tour ” actually has gone up in the ratings from  South Park’s  premiere episode of “ Cupid Ye ” which you would think inspire the network to want to be consistent in airings because the next new episode doesn’t premiere until March 1st, but with all of the hoopla this last week, maybe they knew what they were doing.

Day after the episode “The Worldwide Privacy Tour” premiered, of course Meghan Markle and Prince Harry got wind of the depiction, and although they claimed they hadn’t watched it, I’m calling bullshit. But, it did get the attention of Megan Kelly who noted on her podcast that if  South Park  gets you, it is REALLY tough to gain the attention of America’s youth. This is important, because rumor had it that the once Duchess of Sussex was planning a run at the White House which may have been the impetus of Markle and Harry potentially suing the producers of South Park.  Fortunately, it seems they’ve changed their minds , but creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker have been down this road before and they do not seem to mind the threats nor do they fear them.

Not that they would’ve won anyway. In any case, Trey Parker has admitted that he doesn’t want to offend anyone, and at the end of the day we’re seeing the purview of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry through the eyes of children that eschew the stylings of brands like  Peanuts   and instead embraces the creators’ lineage of growing up on programming like  All In The Family   which, at the time was seen just as controversial as  South Park  is now. Whether or not Matt Stone and Trey Parker get things right or wrong in the long-term, is both subjective and irrelevant.

A big example of this was earlier this week when all of a sudden conservative pundits were retweeting clips of classic  South Park  episodes like “ The Cissy ” and “Mr. Garrison’s Fancy New Vagina” claiming that the producers of the show were attempting to be anti-trans when that couldn’t be further from the truth, especially if you were one of the many viewers who would watch episodes the the whole way through, you would note that Matt and Trey are anything but anti-LGBT in any variety, and are in fact totally supportive of those with gender dysphoria. While Matt and Trey may do jokes mocking some of the extreme leftist viewpoints, it certainly isn’t punching down, and more-so, actually celebrates and acknowledges all people as equals and that NOBODY is exempt from parody.

That includes you, Megan Markle and Prince Harry.

Overview: America’s favorite cracker magnate is back, baby! The Hornsby family returns for more character-driven and commercial drama when they’re forced to put out fires wherever they turn. Matt’s school, J. Davis High, becomes a microcosm for conflict when Royal Crackers gets pushed out of the cafeteria in favor of a healthier alternative that just so happens to be peddled by the Hornsbys’ greatest rivals, the Dennisons. Elsewhere, Deb’s affinity for a new Peloton-esque exercise routine throws a curious wrench in the spokes of her relationship with Stebe. Each Hornsby seeks out validation in their own respective ways, but it might take catastrophic conflict and the destruction of a business or two in order to get these wounded souls satisfaction. Our Take: Royal Crackers has been one of the biggest surprises to come out of Adult Swim in the last few years and an animated series that truly attempts to do something different. There’s a rough-around-the-edges visual aesthetic that’s perhaps kept some audiences at a distance, but the moving characters and heightened storytelling makes it easy to fall in love with this series. Royal Crackers’ first season heavily leaned into marketing that turned up the “Succession, but with crackers” angle and it’s reassuring to see its sophomore season get out of its own way and be more confident in its own skin. The Hornsby family are still deeply dysfunctional and detached, yet these two early entries from season two expand the series’ scope in ways that are both entertaining and organic. Crackers have never been so comedc. Royal Crackers’ second season begins with many compelling scenes where the entire Hornsby family work together and their irrational love for money enables one another to get crazier and bring out the worst in each other. These episodes move further away from the central power struggle within the Hornsby family and there is a greater attempt for them to work together and take on the community, which is a clever angle and an effective way to build upon the chaos. Royal Crackers messes with the Hornsbys’ social standing as they try to find peace within the community. The Hornsbys do their best to awkwardly blend in and learn how to accept themselves before they're accepted by others. That being said, this season emphasizes that the Hornsby family are the good ones here and not just a deluded, out of touch cracker conglomerate. It’s a subtle change, albeit a fundamental one, that helps the audience root for the Hornsbys and empathize with their plight, rather than simply pity them or laugh at their antics, which could occasionally be the timbre back in season one. There’s also some playful drama to be had here over the stress of being under scrutiny in a public venue, like a television broadcast, and how this pushes characters like Stebe to unexpected places. Royal Crackers focuses more on the Hornsby family’s fragile egos, frail images, and how this is all liable to crumble like a cracker. The Dennison family are back this season, bigger than ever, and continue to function as satisfying rivals that pose a threat to the entire Hornsby family. One of the silliest and most ridiculous details about the Hornsby/Dennison feud is that Dennison Snacks is pushing kale chips against Royal Crackers, considering that crackers aren’t even that unhealthy of a snack food. It’s not like they’re peddling donuts, cookies, or even anything that’s dense in sugar. It’s apples to organic apples here, which makes this crusade all the more outlandish and entertaining. It perfectly exemplifies the broader mania that often drives Royal Crackers storylines. The Dennison family drama boils over into a larger meditation on bullying, whether it’s in school, the community, or America as a whole, all with various degrees of imposing fascism. It’s a smart, effective way to juxtapose Matt’s personal problems with universal ones. On that note, Royal Crackers’ premiere features one of the stronger Matt storylines and he emerges more as a character this season than the shy cipher role that he largely fulfilled back in season one. Royal Crackers’ first season finale, “Craftopia,” did wonders for his character and so it’s satisfying to see the series continue to explore this and build upon it, rather than have him regress or decide that season one already covered this material while Royal Crackers instead shifts its focus to the rest of the Hornsby family. That being said, Royal Crackers really shines a light on Stebe and Deb’s marriage dynamics in a realistic manner that functions as the beating heart of this sweet animated comedy. It’s endearing to get stories that authentically explore marital malaise that don’t purely reduce these issues to broad punchlines. Theo, who’s frequently positioned as the most ridiculous member of the Hornsby family, also experiences a validating identity crisis. There’s a really satisfying wrinkle through these episodes where Theo turns to George Zeebos as a new father figure and someone who will better appreciate his odd interests, even if it’s a toxic, manipulative dynamic that’s doing demonstrably more harm than good. It’s a dark path for Theo to head down, but another layered character dynamic that fits the series’ themes. It speaks to the vulnerable, flawed nature of the Hornsby family and how they all really just want to find love and acceptance, even if it has to come from a heartless corporate overlord. Some of the strongest episodes from Royal Crackers’ first season are the ones that really play with form and indulge in science fiction and fantasy, like “Factory 37.” It’s encouraging to see that these more outlandish genre decisions are still very front and center in season two. There’s fantastical chaos like violent, bloody massacres, robot adultery, and a Terminator-esque billionaire CEO in these two episodes that provide so much personality and flavor to the franchise. Even the season premiere, which is a reasonably grounded and human story, ends with a completely ridiculous stinger where a human being shatters to pieces, defies reality, and it’s goddamn glorious. This is Royal Crackers in a nutshell – real, emotional storytelling that occasionally explodes into ludicrous lunacy. It feels like vintage Adult Swim programming in the best way possible. “Fight for J. Davis High” and “MyCycle” both go out on surprisingly sweet resolutions that focus on understanding over admonishment. As silly as Royal Crackers gets, it’s appreciated to see sincerity creep in and for the episodes’ conclusions to push commendable values that stand for something more substantial than simply creating the silliest story possible. There’s genuine weight to these episodes’ messages, which is what helps separate Royal Crackers from other series of its ilk. It functions as a testament to this show’s staying power beyond two seasons and that it’s far from out of ideas in its weird, wonderful world. It’s the secret ingredient to Royal Crackers’ success that guarantees that it’s not just some “unhealthy snack.” These are real characters with real things to say, even if they do frequently devolve into manic chaos. Royal Crackers never forgets that it needs to do more than that. Royal Crackers comes out of the gate swinging in its second season. There’s such a strong energy, a snappy rhythm, and tight storytelling in these two episodes that naturally moves the narrative along. It’s a powerful start that will please those who enjoyed season one, but it’s also a perfect, accessible entrypoint for any newcomers who are curiously checking out Royal Crackers for the first time. These two episodes are an excellent summation of what the series is all about and the heightened characters who bring its stories to life. It’s a very natural, confident start to the season that hopefully only continues to build upon this fantastic foundation. Bring on the all-out war between the Hornsbys and Dennisons. 8/10 Royal Crackers Season 2 Cast

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision to move across the pond in a desperate bid for privacy has been highlighted in the show’s latest episode, titled “The Worldwide Privacy Tour.”

The episode, which begins with a disclaimer saying all characters — even if they’re based on real people — are fictional, centers around the couple who move to a fictional town for privacy .

And even though the episode doesn’t explicitly name the couple, viewers noticed that the pair look exactly like the royals, and even wear the same outfits as they do.

The cheeky episode opens with Kyle’s brother Ike, who is adopted from Canada, overcome with emotion at the news that the queen of Canada is dead. The so-called queen bears a striking resemblance to the late Queen Elizabeth II, who died Sept. 8, 2022 .

The prince and princess of Canada are seen attending the funeral, but are met with boos from the rest of the royals because the couple has been “bashing the Canadian monarchy.”

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry

In a bid to clear their reputation, the pair, who are branded “dumb” in the episode, appear on TV talk show “Good Morning Canada,” where the prince holds up a sign that reads, “We want privacy!” The princess, standing next to him, holds up a sign that reads, “Stop looking at us.”

Elsewhere in the episode, the pair promote the prince’s new book titled “Waaagh” — which bears an uncanny resemblance to Prince Harry’s recently released memoir, “Spare.”

South Park

“We just want to be normal people — all this attention is so hard,” the prince says in the episode after admitting he “hates” journalists.

The couple later board a flashy private jet and set off on their “Worldwide Privacy Tour.”

South Park

Following the worldwide tour, the pair settle down in South Park, where the princess says, “If we moved here, people would think we’re really serious about wanting to be normal.”

Ironically, the prince and princess make their request for privacy known by hanging up banners on their new house.

However, their arrival seems to anger locals , including Kyle, who isn’t thrilled that the royals are their new neighbors.

South Park

The prince and princess’s presence soon causes friction in the community, with Kyle complaining that their private jet is parked outside their home, located opposite his.

“They have this huge jet parked in front of my house and they keep on wanting me to buy their book,” Kyle moans.

“I‘m sick of hearing about them. But I can’t get away from them, they’re everywhere. In my f–king face,” he adds.

South Park Made A Small Nod To Kate Middleton In 'Worldwide Privacy Tour'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle hugging

Even in its 26th season, "South Park"  proves it still has plenty of venom left in its bite. In the show's most recent batch of episodes, one of the most widely talked about is "Worldwide Privacy Tour."  The episode took the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, namely Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle, to task over their perceived hypocrisy in wanting to be left alone yet going on an all-out media blitz to talk about how they want to be left alone.

Viewers loved how "South Park" still knows how to take down celebrities, and it seems as though Trey Parker and Matt Stone really did their homework on this one. There are numerous references to the British monarchy, although, for the sake of the show, everyone has been transposed to be part of the Canadian monarchy, as is tradition. The episode opened with the death of the Canadian queen, mirroring the recent death of Queen Elizabeth II. And some eagle-eyed fans managed to spot a reference to another monarchy bride — Kate Middleton.

There's a brief moment where one can see the Meghan Markle stand-in on various magazine covers, including one for Vogue where she's wearing a green hat. However, this more closely resembles a photoshoot done by Middleton. Some people took this to be another sly diss to the actress-turned-princess.

Who copied who?

For those of you who don't keep up with every scandal that takes place within the Royal Family, there's been some controversy as of late concerning the wardrobe stylings of two of the princesses. Obviously, this is very important stuff as it's been the subject of numerous articles and much conversation on social media. Clearly, there's nothing more essential going on in the world than wondering whether a woman has copied another woman's fashion choices, but alas, that's where we are.

As noted by Newsweek and several Twitter users, Kate Middleton could be found copying some of the outfit choices of Meghan Markle in recent months. However, with all things fair, the outlet also points out how Markle could be seen copying some of Middleton's clothing. Twitter user @ButIDigress79 offered the following theory concerning the outfits: "Not saying Kate never copies but some of it is Meghan is fashion forward and wears looks earlier in their cycle. Kate waits until a look has been around long enough to not be a trend."

It would seem when it comes to "South Park," the people behind the scenes wanted to make the Markle stand-in the copier in this instance. It's certainly a subtle dig in an episode that apparently upset the royal couple; however, it would appear as though the duo isn't planning on suing the comedy series as was initially reported.

Fantasy war … South Park: Snow Day!

South Park: Snow Day! review – a crude, enjoyable playground tussle

PC (version tested), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, Nintendo Switch; Question/THQ Nordic The show’s trademark knack for satire staves off the sameness in this wintry brawler

T he snow’s falling hard over South Park, Colorado, and little Eric Cartman spies an opportunity to miss school. Tucked up in bed, he clenches his fists, shuts his eyes tight, and wishes for the blizzard to worsen to biblical levels to ensure the schools call a snow day the following morning. He wakes to a town in panic – numerous deaths, an outbreak of panic-buying toilet paper, and weather so unprecedented that many fear it’s a sign of the end times. He is, of course, delighted.

The titular snow day that follows is the bright white canvas on which the neighbourhood kids paint a fantasy war, where elves and humans do battle according to rules that might change in an instant with the deployment of a “bullshit” card. South Park has always been wonderful at capturing the bits of childhood we forget about as we age, and with Snow Day!’s premise developer Question Games finds just such a nugget. Give some kids a day’s freedom and some cardboard swords, and they will build an entire universe then bicker about its precise workings.

What this means for the player is a co-op action game with roguelike elements that is completely removed from South Park’s previous two 2D, turn-based role-playing games, 2014’s The Stick of Truth and 2017’s sequel, The Fractured But Whole.

You’re permitted some chagrin for that departure. Those story-led games brought us countless gags too vulgar to sully this fine publication with, and in moments like the abrupt shift to retro 8-bit graphics when you entered Canada, they found ingenious ways to use the medium itself for comedy. Candidly, Snow Day!’s writing isn’t quite that sharp. But what it does have in its favour is pickup-and-play accessibility and unexpected depth as a roguelike.

As you barrel through the ’burbs battling small children in ramshackle Tolkien cosplay, deploying your basic melee and ranged attacks, you amass toilet paper (the new gold, since the panic-buying started) and modifier cards. These do extra damage to bleeding enemies, extend your farting range, that sort of thing. The further you get into a run, the more you can spec out a specialist play style, and the more interesting each fight gets.

Particularly when a bullshit card drops. These intentionally overpowered cardsgive you and your enemies ridiculous abilities such as laser eyes or meteor showers on tap. They’re meted out sparingly and are always met with just enough outrage from Cartman and co to remind you that these rules are supposed to feel like 10-year-olds are improvising.

It doesn’t always feel great to control – in fact, it rarely does, since the attack and movement animations are blighted by floatiness that robs you of proper weapon feedback – but Snow Day keeps your brain engaged by getting you to plot increasingly efficient builds. There’s always a tougher encounter round the corner, and a boss fight at the end of the run, so there’s a consequence to every card you pick. That won’t keep you and your mates in South Park’s perpetual winter for as long as co-op gaming’s favourite hangout spaces, such as Fortnite. But it will deliver a fun weekend of fart-infused chaos for anyone who misses the days when snowfall meant freedom.
