LOVED this tour!!! Very interesting guide - he's been around the Everglades for decades - made it even better with all the interesting facts & stories of the history of the area. Highly recommend!

Came for an airboat ride and had an absolute blast! Made a family day and came way down in the Everglades for an airboat tour and weren't disappointed. The staff is friendly - boat was piloted by Captain Mike. We saw 4 gators - 2 were small, one medium sized and one absolute monster! The big one was about 12' long and we got plenty close for great pictures. Besides the gators we saw birds aplenty including egrets, ibis, herons, and more. While they don't make any promises; they tell you in advance the only things you'll see for 100% certain are mangroves and water - they more than delivered. The price was $53 per person and includes the airboat ride, which lasted about 45-50 mins. We did plenty of spins and donuts along with a variety of speed and slower travels. It seems like most of the airboat tours in this part of Florida are highly rated, but we would highly recommend Erv's.

The mangrove boat tour was fantastic. Ryan was a wonderful guide and we saw several gators and had an enjoyable boat ride. We wouldn't do the two boat tours together again, but did enjoy the alligator show at the animal sanctuary after. Would recommend Jungle Erv's over Wootens tour for sure as the headsets with microphones made it better to enjoy together and you can hear the rest of your party. The grassland tour wasn't much different and we had to wait around, so only first boat was an actual reservation. Beautiful day and enjoyed lunch close by at Triad seafood afterwards.

We are beginning to have guests visit us again. Which is wonderful. Most guests want to take an airboat ride. I have been on many airboat rides and this one is the calmest I have ever been on. Most of these rides are somewhat like being on a roller coaster with the captain performing all sorts of spin moves and spraying us with the water. This is NOT on of those. Our guide Levi spoke with knowledge and experience. This tour could be an eco tour with lessons about the mangroves and their importance to Florida. It also could be a bird tour, snake, or alligator tour. Really depends on what the guide sees. We saw a couple of birds and that was it. So most of the tour was about the mangroves and how they came about to the coast of Florida. The property we were on was owned by the tour company and the pathways are also maintained by the company. This tour there are no marsh grass.

Airboats ready for the ride

This place was everything and more! Definitely moneys worth. The air boat driver was entertaining while also educating the group on the history of the Everglades, the ride itself was soothing and fun. The wildlife preservation was very interesting, you can see the alligators are well taken care of, would never have imagined I would get to hold a baby gator. You could tell the instructor genuinely loves and respects working with alligators the way he does. Love the gators and the experience!

We had the best time on this air boat tour! They go really fast but I felt safe the whole time. Our captain was awesome and so funny. He really knew the area well and I have no idea how he figured out where we were in all the twisting and turning mangroves! We took our 4 and 7 yo and they had a blast. We got to take photos on the boat and then stopped in for an alligator show after which was awesome! We got to hold the baby alligators! Highly recommend!

Really fun time. Our boats intercom system wasn't working though. But overall fun ride.

If you go, yes you will have fun. If you are lucky, you will meet Taylor. She's unintentionally sweet and genuinely funny. What a gem. Capt Jesse will make you laugh. We had an amazing time.

Captain Daniels is the best, he is very knowledgeable about the area. We had a great time on the boat ride and it was so beautiful!

Tours are available Monday through Saturday from August to April; times vary by season. Children must be at least 7 years old to participate. If you're hoping to see the Everglades by boat, but want something a little quieter than an airboat ride, consider this cruise. Departing from Port of the Islands Marina in Naples, this 45-foot passenger catamaran glides across the Faka Union Canal while guides share information about the history and ecology of the area. Tourgoers report spotting lots of birds, turtles, dolphins and manatees. They also call out the insightful crew and clean, comfortable boat as highlights.

Cruises are offered Monday to Friday at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Everglades Florida Adventures also offers kayak and canoe rentals.

Like any other form of transportation, riding an airboat may come with some risks. To stay safe on your Everglades airboat tour, be sure to choose a company run by experienced, professional boaters (most of which undergo special training and are approved by the U.S. Coast Guard) and adhere to all rules set forth by your guide. Parents should keep a close eye on children and be sure they are properly fitted for their life jackets, and all passengers should protect against the heat by wearing sunscreen and staying hydrated. Commercial airboats typically do not exceed speeds of 30 to 40 mph to ensure a safe, smooth ride, and most operators will reschedule your tour in the event of lightning or other inclement weather. Tour companies will also generally provide riders with proper ear protection, as the boats are quite loud.

Typically, passengers will feel the most comfortable in lightweight, sleeveless clothing and shorts while on an Everglades airboat tour. Captain Doug House started it all with “Captain Doug’s Airboat Tours” along with his son-in-law, Captain Bruce Minton. We have remained the smallest operation on the Barron River by choice and while we’re licensed for 24 airboats, we keep a fleet of just five. Why? Because we believe the best experience is a personal one—and staying small lets us get to know our guests like you better.

Our pioneering captains worked together for over 25 years until Captain Doug retired in 2007. The family continues to run the business and we’ve got exciting plans for the future!

Meet our captains and crew

Every guide at Everglades City Airboat Tours is a USCG-licensed captain, certified by the State of Florida and properly insured. Some have been on the water since childhood and know the Everglades like their own backyard.

Capt. Bruce Minton

Owner, operator and third-generation guide. Worked alongside Captain Doug, his father-in-law, at the first airboat tour operation in Everglades City.

Capt. Josh Minton

Fourth-generation guide. Son of Captain Bruce. Grandson of Captain Doug. Highly skilled with extensive knowledge of local wildlife, the mangroves and shallow water bays.

Capt. Steven Lenz

Son-in-law of Captain Bruce. Joined us in 2013. Enjoys interacting with passengers and gives 150% every time he leaves the dock.

Day 1: arrive in everglades city.

Spend the day exploring Everglades City and then head to the  Ivey House Everglades Adventures Hotel  for a relaxing night’s stay.

The Ivey House Everglades Adventures Hotel is located in the heart of Everglades City and is just 0.7 miles from Captain Jack's (a 3 minute drive). The Ivey House offers spacious rooms, each surrounding a beautifully landscaped screened-in tropical courtyard and pool. If your group has 7-10 people, we'll try to keep you together on a 10-seat airboat. If it reduces your wait, we may also give you the option of using two airboats.

Don't use Uber, Lyft, or other ride-sharing services. They can't pick you up when you're done!

• Yes, all ages are welcome on all our tours.
• Any passengers aged 17 or younger must be accompanied by at least one passenger who is aged 18 or older.
• Coast Guard regulations require everyone, even infants on your lap, to buy a seat.
• Consider bringing sunblock, bug spray, and comfortable shoes and clothes.
• You might get a little wet from small splashes and spray.
• If rain is forecasted, we recommend bringing a poncho.
• Many guests see wild alligators, birds, and other wildlife on their airboat and buggy tours, but Mother Nature makes no guarantees, so neither can we.
• You will definitely see alligators and other rescued animals in our Animal Sanctuary , an attraction included with all our tours.
• Our tours run rain or shine, except when there's a thunderstorm.
• We don't refund bookings if you cancel too close to a tour's departure time (check the policy when booking).
• Sometimes we need to delay due to thunderstorms or other unforeseen circumstances. We'll do our best to reschedule or issue a refund.
• Our airboat docks are handicap accessible, but wheelchairs can’t be loaded onto our airboats.
• If anyone in your party is using a wheelchair, please be sure they can move from the wheelchair onto the airboat.
• For everyone's safety, pets and service animals are not allowed in the Animal Sanctuary , near the boat launch, on airboats, or on swamp buggies.
• Service animals are allowed only in the gift shop, restrooms, and picnic areas.
