Its last serious eruption was in 1969, filling the area with black clouds, ash, and mudflows. Tangkuban Perahu crater is easily accessible by car that makes it as impressive sights.

This day tour with Umien as our guide (and his lovely brother Asep as chauffeur) was a tour we imensely enjoyed from beginning to end. Absolutely great with no down points, no exageration. As one of us could not climb a lot of stairs, Umien carefully suggested alternative routes and activities for the tour. He was very flexible and accomodating throughout the whole tour. We visited Kawah Putih, had a short prayer break (as muslims) with directly after a fantastic lunch, went to the tea fields, saw a hotspring with the suspension bridge on route and closed our tour with drinking coffee Luwak at a lovely place with great view/scenery. But also a very nice part of the tour was that we enjoyed the knowledge and personality of Umien and his friendly brother, both hardworking and kind people, who also have a heart for the needy people in their community. We have been travelling for 2 months and this was one of the best tours we have done. Umien was our tour guide, took us to a great spot to have a coffe and breakfast overlooking the local southern town. Umien had expert knowledge and took us off the beaten track to see the best views of the white crater. His brother Asep was our driver and was excellent. The tea fields were breathtaking, and we were treated to all the best views. lunch / Dinner at 4pm was beautiful we were taken a great Sudanese restaurant with more great views and is authent ic tic food.
