  • *Please note : A "carry-on bag" on a tour coach is not the same as a "carry-on" for a flight. Because our coaches have large windows to enjoy the view, there is minimal space to store large items securely overhead or under the seats. A "carry-on bag" may be a soft-sided daypack, purse, backpack, tote bag, or the like. Because we value our guests' safety, small rolling suitcases or bags with telescopic handles are not permitted. In order to guarantee a smooth trip, guests are not permitted to store an additional "carry-on" bag beneath the coach with the luggage.

So your driver and any hotel porters can safely lift and transport your suitcase throughout your vacation, we strongly recommend that you test the weight of your baggage prior to travel. You should be able to lift and comfortably transport it for short distances.

Baggage allowances vary from airline to airline, and you should check with your chosen carrier for details prior to travel.

Packing Tips for Your Tour

Packing for a guided tour will vary depending on the duration of the trip, the time of year, and the activities planned. Here is a general packing list to help you get started:

Passport and Travel Documents : Ensure you have your passport , travel insurance , and any necessary travel documents.

  • Comfortable walking shoes: Cobblestone streets and uneven terrain require comfortable footwear.
  • Lightweight, breathable clothing: Pack clothes suitable for the season. Bring a mix of short-sleeved tops, lightweight pants or skirts, and a few long-sleeved options for cooler evenings for the summer months, and long-sleeved and heavier layers for early Spring, Fall, and Winter.
  • Layers: It's advisable to bring a light jacket or sweater and a scarf for layering, especially in Spring or Fall.
  • Nice evening wear: You may wish to wear a dressier outfit if you plan on dining in an elegant restaurant, for example. Smart-casual clothes are usually acceptable for all included daytime and evening activities throughout your tour.
  • Rain Gear: Depending on the season and the countries you're visiting, it's a good idea to pack a compact rain jacket or umbrella.

Sun Protection:

  • Hat, sunglasses, UV-protective clothing.
  • Sunscreen with high SPF. If you're visiting any coastal areas, bring reef-safe sunscreen formulated without harmful chemicals known to be damaging to coral reefs and marine life. Traditional sunscreens often contain ingredients like oxybenzone and octinoxate, which have been found to contribute to coral bleaching and negatively impact marine ecosystems. Look for sunscreens with certifications such as "Reef Safe," "Coral Safe," or "Ocean-Friendly" to ensure they are environmentally friendly .

Medications and First Aid:

  • Any prescription medications you need. (See more below under Health & Wellness)
  • Basic first aid kit with adhesive bandages, antiseptic wipes, pain relievers, etc.

Toiletries:

  • Travel-sized toiletries, including shampoo, conditioner, soap, and toothpaste.
  • Travel towel (quick-drying and compact).
  • Hand sanitizer and wet wipes.
  • A washcloth and carry bag (often not available in hotels abroad).

Electronics:

  • A camera: You’re traveling to see extraordinary scenery and sites. So that you don't miss a single moment, bring a trustworthy camera. Check out our travel photography tips for capturing the best photos of your trips. If you feel comfortable, you can also try the camera on your phone . However, if you want to zoom in or capture moving objects, a camera might be your best bet.
  • Mobile phone.
  • Chargers for each electronic you bring.
  • Travel adapter and/or voltage converter
  • Portable power bank for charging devices on the go.
  • Small travel hair dryer (make sure you have the correct converter and adapter).

Miscellaneous:

  • A travel-friendly daypack or bag to carry your essentials during excursions.
  • Insect repellent.
  • Reusable water bottle. At GET, we’re all about caring for our planet , and with that in mind, we always recommend that you pack a reusable water bottle for your trip. Bringing your own reusable water bottle or asking for tap water at restaurants means you can make a difference by reducing your vacation plastic waste.
  • A small travel alarm.
  • A travel iron if you like your clothes to be pressed.
  • A travel pillow.
  • Scarf or shawl for visiting religious sites or to cover up in conservative areas.
  • Light sleepwear.
  • A new, blank journal to document your trip. Don't know your travel journal style? Find out here !
  • Ziplock bags (storing snacks, toiletries, and keeping things organized).

Remember to pack light and versatile items that can be mixed and matched for different outfits. Laundry facilities are often available, or you can have your clothes laundered at hotels during your trip. It's also a good idea to pack a small bag or backpack to bring on the coach for day trips and excursions, leaving your larger luggage at the hotel.

Electricity

American appliances run on 110-120 volts at 60 Hz, while European appliances run on 220-230 volts at 50 Hz.

As a result, American appliances designed for use in the United States (typically 120 volts at 60 Hz) may not be directly compatible with the higher voltage used in European countries. Plugging a 120-volt appliance into a 220-240-volt outlet without the appropriate voltage converter or transformer can cause damage to the appliance or pose safety risks.

If you plan to bring American appliances to Europe, you will need a voltage converter or transformer to change the voltage to 220-240 volts from 110 volts. Additionally, you will likely need a plug adapter to fit the American-style plug into the European power outlets. All of Europe operates on the same two round-pronged outlets (Type C).

It's important to note that not all appliances are compatible with voltage converters, so it's essential to check the labels or user manuals of your devices before using them with a voltage converter. Some electronic devices, such as laptops, smartphones, and camera chargers, are dual voltage and can support 120V and 220-240V, so they may not require a voltage converter, but a plug adapter will still be necessary.

To avoid any issues with electrical compatibility during your travels, consider purchasing appliances specifically designed for the voltage used in the region you'll be visiting or use appropriate voltage converters and plug adapters to ensure the safe operation of your American appliances in Europe.

We recommend purchasing an adapter with a voltage converter so you can pack less. And to pick up any necessary adapters or converters for your electronic devices before departing on your guided tour and bringing them with you.

Hair Dryers in Your Hotel

Hair dryers are common accessories in hotels. Should you want to bring your own, though, you will need to bring an adapter and voltage converter or make sure it is dual voltage by checking the label for INPUT AC 120V - 240V or a switch that can be set to 125V or 250V. Many devices have this feature, so it's worth checking before you travel. If you need a hair dryer during your trip but can't find one in your hotel room, you can inquire with the hotel staff. Many hotels will be able to provide a hair dryer upon request, either at the front desk or through housekeeping.

Air Conditioning

Air conditioning is commonly available in European hotels, restaurants, and public spaces, especially in major cities and tourist areas, but it is worth noting that the settings will differ from what you are used to in the USA.

However, it's important to note that not all accommodations or historic buildings may have air conditioning, particularly in more traditional or rural settings. Most hotels in Europe can provide a portable fan for additional room cooling if requested. Your Travel Director will be on hand to assist you throughout your trip.

Traveling by coach

Our modern air-conditioned coaches have been selected with your comfort in mind. Your Travel Director will familiarize you with all the onboard features, including a washroom fitted for your convenience and comfort. Regular stops are made to stretch your legs, take refreshments, fill up your water bottles, and use the facilities.

Airport transfers

Airport transfers to and from the airport on the first and last days of your tour are complimentary only if you are traveling on a tour operated by Trafalgar, Insight Vacations, or Luxury Gold, and   your flight times coincide with the shuttle-coach transfer timings. Learn more about Airport Transfers here .

To enable you to personalize your tour experience, you will find a number of Optional Experiences designed to complement the itinerary. These are designed to offer a deeper insight into the culture and character of the areas to be visited and provide some wonderful highlights to your travels. The optional program is designed to let you experience more of what interests you and to get the most from your vacation without replacing or overlapping with anything included in an itinerary.

The majority of Optional Experiences will be offered to you by your Travel Director at the beginning of your trip. Some may be subject to change, depending on the time you are traveling or local circumstances, including weather and days of the week. Your Travel Director will provide further information.

Usually, most Optional Experiences will be priced in the local currency, but please read through the details of individual optional experiences for specific information. Exact payment options will be advised locally by your Travel Director/Local Representative for each Optional Experience, but in many cases, cash, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express are all accepted.

It is recommended to have travel insurance that covers medical expenses while abroad.

In order to ensure a healthy and enjoyable trip, we strongly suggest that you pack a plentiful supply of any medication you may need while on vacation. Here’s what you need to know about traveling with medications .

Prior to traveling, please notify GET of any disability requiring special assistance or any specific dietary needs that you may have, and we will strive to accommodate these.

It's essential to ensure that your routine vaccinations are up-to-date before traveling to any destination. Routine vaccinations may include vaccinations for measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, and influenza.

When traveling with GET, baggage handling at hotels, service charges, and tips for hotel wait staff (for included meals) will all be taken care of by your Travel Director. There are, however, a few instances where individual tipping is welcome.

Local Specialists

It is customary to show appreciation for the insights, stories, and know-how shared with you by the Local Specialists, and we suggest a gratuity equivalent to $1.00-$2.00 USD per person per half day.

Your Coach Driver and Travel Director

The trip cost does not include gratuities for your Travel Director and Driver. At the end of your trip, you may express appreciation to your Travel Director and Driver for their excellent service and the personal attention you received. Gratuities are given at the discretion of each guest, and a suggested amount per person/per day is listed in your travel documents.

For your convenience and ease, there is an option to pre-pay gratuities for the Travel Director and Driver at the time of booking.

Hotel services

It is customary to tip hotel staff for room service delivery if the charge has not already been added to the bill. Where ice machines are not available, and you receive ice from the bar, a small tip to the bartender is always appreciated.

Wanderlust and Bohemia: The Nomad’s Guide to Bohemian Travel Destinations

1st August 2021

bohemia tour casavatore

If bohemian-style travel has a hold on your heart, we know you’ve already explored the likes of Tulum, Bali, Ibiza, and Morocco. It can be difficult to break free from these “big names” in bohemian travel since they so reliably capture the essence of the indie experience. You can hop on a plane to any one of these destinations and feel assured that you will land in a quaint, laid-back atmosphere with bohemian energy running through its blood, from the décor of its boutique hotels to its artisan street markets and beachfront dining.

So what happens when you want to explore somewhere new? Of course, you could try out another travel style. Romantic European luxury and ultra-modern cityscapes all have their merits. But if a tasteful dose of hippie-inspired living is what you’re after, nothing else will quite fill that void. The good news is, thanks to the “road-less-traveled” vibes that bohemian destinations share, it’s often the secret, lesser-known towns that do it best.

We’ve snooped around for all the best “undiscovered” boho towns to travel to next, so you don’t have to. Try one, or try them all Tulum can wait until next time- it’s not going anywhere.

bohemia tour casavatore

Alentejo, Portugal

If your favorite part of the bohemian lifestyle is the charming merging of indoor/outdoor living, then the Alentejo region of Portugal is for you. You’ll find women chattering in the streets and hanging their laundry on the line, alfresco tables set up in every cobbled pathway, and a general appreciation for the outdoors. Not to mention, this diverse region has a little bit of something for everybody. Inland, you can stroll through towns of mosaic tiles and whitewashed buildings, challenge yourself in the mountainous parks, or sip afternoon gasses of wine straight from the vineyards.

Once you have made your way to the coast, you’ll fall in love with the thatched palm parasols lining the beaches and Caribbean-coloured waters. Much of the coastline boasts rock cliffs and secret, sheltered coves along the shore but even the more renowned beaches are worth a stop. At Praia do Malhao, massive dunes and meadows of wildflowers meet the shoreline- it will make you wonder how a place this magical can even exist. If you want to round out your experience, you can find boho boutique hotels all throughout the region.

Why It’s So Magical:   The Alentejo region of Portugal simply has SO MUCH to offer. You can enjoy the easy, breezy bohemian vibes everywhere you turn, while also reaping the benefits of variety. Here, you can hike through mountainous national parks, stroll through clay and cobblestone towns, chow down on the catch of the day in a little fishing village, and lounge on sandy beaches with a drink in hand.

Bohemia, Czech Republic

Why not take it back to where it all began? Experience the remaining influence of gypsy culture and enjoy a European take on the bohemian vacation. Though the bohemian lifestyle here is going to look a little different than the getaway you are used to, it’s important to note that the trend has come a long way and that visiting its birthplace is something incredible in its own regard.

A striking landscape full of mountains, caves, gorges, and luscious countryside. We recommend spending a mix of time in the country and in the city for the most authentic experience. You may want to take a gypsy tour or arrange for unique accommodation such as staying in a gypsy wagon, but just remember to be mindful and respectful of the culture, and make a solid effort to learn about the historical mistreatment of gypsy populations.

Why It’s So Magical:   There’s definitely something poetic about experiencing the bohemian lifestyle in its birthplace. Plus, as much as we love the beachy take on this travel trend, we think this land-locked experience in central Europe has the potential to enchant an entirely different crowd- making the bohemian getaway a staple for every type of traveler.

Mancora, Peru

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again- where there are surfers there’s bound to be a laid-back beachy community that attracts tourists of a certain breed- bohemian travelers. Mancora is Peru’s best surfing town and one that someone remains underrated by most accounts, making it the perfect place to relax for a few days. If you keep in mind that Mancora, the town, is not designed to be a luxury hub, then it won’t take long to start charming you. It also remains utterly affordable.

That being said, it’s not without upgraded, high-end accommodations. If the natural, earthy décor appeals most to you with an emphasis on creating more luxurious outdoor spaces, we’d definitely recommend the Hotel Grandmare & Bungalows. They have everything you could ask for from breezy hammocks and sunbeds with linens to private beach access and a pretty good restaurant. If you prefer the crisp, clean look of a modern hotel with bohemian elements, then Selina Mancora is a worthy alternative. Before we move on, it’s also worth mentioning that Peruvian cuisine is incredible. Be sure to try the fresh fish ceviche while you’re here; the ambiance and cuisine at Atelier Mancora are amazing so this is a pretty safe bet if you want some finer dining experiences.

Why It’s So Magical:   Mancora is the best boho beach town that no one seems to be talking about. Translation? You can easily substitute Mancora for your usual go-to and enjoy all the amenities and bohemian atmosphere you’d expect, without the overcrowding of tourists. Don’t get us wrong, there’s definitely still some tourist community- a secret this good just can’t be kept. But you’ll certainly be able to enjoy your beach days in peace and never be fighting off a larger crowd.

bohemia tour casavatore

Montezuma, Costa Rica

This non-touristy town is perfect for the beachy bohemian who wants a happy, sleepy destination to unwind in. The only real gathering spot in Montezuma is a small main strip of organic cafes, surf shops, and artisanal vendors, also known as the “town road”. Besides that, you’ll find quaint beaches, lush rainforest, and a cluster of small villas and hotels- no big resorts around here!

When you do feel up for a little something more than a drink and a good read on the beach, you can venture to one of the tiny islands off the coast for a day trip (one of which you can actually walk across to during low tide), or strap on your hiking shoes and binoculars for some jungle wildlife spotting. It’s also the perfect place for chasing waterfalls- there are three big cascades in close proximity, which make up the most famous waterfall set in Costa Rica. The largest of these is a great spot for a picnic, but the other two are well suited for those who want to jump in and splash around.

Why It’s So Magical:   A trip to Montezuma can really be dressed up or down as much as you need based on your travel preferences and your budget. There are several five-star, luxury boutique hotels if that’s your style, but you can also find mid-range eco-accommodations or even camp on the beach.   No matter what you choose, though, you’ll be guaranteed a secluded beachfront, and the option to do everything that gives Costa Rica its marvelous reputation or laze around and do nothing at all.

bohemia tour casavatore

Siargao Island, Philippines

Listen up, the Philippines is not just a cheap destination for college-aged backpackers. In fact, despite its reputation as a surfer town (and yes, affordability), this island is one of the most picturesque and luxurious destinations in southeast Asia- trust us! Oh yeah, and you can still take advantage of that bohemian flare that we can’t stop talking about.

Besides surfing, Siargao offers dozens upon dozens of things to do and each one is more magical than the last. You can take in a sunrise at the Cloud Nine Pier, visit the famous Magpupungko rock pools, float down the Sugba Lagoon, or take a swing off the iconic palm at the Maasin Enchanted River. When it’s time to take it down a notch, you can spend your time on the powdered beach, recently dubbed the best in the Philippines, browse through cute “shop local” boutiques or explore Siargao’s decent selection of vegan and vegetarian dining options. You can also rent scooters and beach bikes to get around which has become a travel staple for bohemian travelers, just look to places like Bali and Tulum if you don’t want to take our word for it.

Why It’s So Magical:   Siargao is a surfer’s paradise, which means it’s inherently a pretty chilled-out place to be, but it’s also so much more than that. Take advantage of the surfer’s atmosphere for all your hippie fulfillment, but don’t sacrifice anything else. Here, you can relax AND find some gentle adventure. Not to mention, it’s just about the dreamiest place we’ve ever seen.

Siargao Island, Philippines

Cat Island, Bahamas

This tropical oasis is made up of mainly villa-style accommodation, which only amplifies the sense of privacy that you already get from staying in this geographically small and criminally under-trafficked destination. If you want to keep living your life in color, this is the choice for you. With bold-colored buildings, tropical beats carrying through the air, and a sweet sense of slow, undone time.

What’s the most popular thing to do on the island? Hit up the local fish fry, of course. In fact, beachfront dining is the main attraction from one end of the island to the other, with little unimposing food huts serving up all the best Caribbean flavors from locally caught seafood to spicy jerks. When you’re not chowing down to your heart’s content, you can visit the local dive shop for an aquatic adventure, or rent a bicycle to peddle your way around the island- the choice is yours.

Why It’s So Magical: Hammocks swaying between palms, thatched-roof cottages just steps from the water, and a pink sand beach all on a one-town island? It doesn’t get much more low-key than that. The Bahamas have undeniably been hit by the tourist wave, which has commercialized its culture and caused a shift towards big resorts and spoiled land. This little untouched island will take you back in time and allow you to have the full Caribbean experience in all its peaceful glory.

Walking Bohemian Paradise Tour Details

Overview for walking bohemian paradise.

Bohemia is one of the most idyllic regions in the Czech Republic, where rolling hills topped by castles and rock formations millions of years old line your trails. The Walking Bohemian Paradise tour takes you right into the heart of Bohemia and allows you to explore at your own pace, soaking up the beauty of this unhurried region.

Begin in Prague, a magnetic city defined by historical monuments and unmatched architecture. You’ll be whisked away to the Renaissance town of Jičín, your gateway to Bohemia. Explore the Prachovské skály rocks, snap photos of the expansive views near Sobotka, and walk down into the verdant valleys near Hrubá Skála. The castles infuse every view with a dreamy charm, and the villages you’ll settle into have held onto all the history and culture of the past. If you want to experience Bohemia, the Walking Bohemian Paradise tour is for you!

Itinerary for Walking Bohemian Paradise

Your tour begins in Jičín, one of the prettiest towns in the Czech Republic. You can either take the train or book a transfer as a supplement if you’re flying into Prague.

Walk up to the Wallenstein tower or spend some time exploring the local museum inside a grand chateau. Tonight, settle in at the hotel and enjoy your first night here.

Prachovské Skály Rocks

Cross rugged, undulating terrain today, heading towards the interesting rocky Prachovské Skály area. A steep basalt hill leads you up to a collection of tall sandstone rock towers that have been featured in a few movies. Snap some photos in this dramatic area before heading to your hotel for the evening.

Walk to Sobotka

Enjoy breakfast and coffee before setting out for your second walk. The terrain will be easy to navigate and truly stunning. You’ll walk to the rock ruins of Pařez, where the Trosky castle can be seen in the distance. Continue to the village of Sobotka, where another small castle is waiting to be explored.

Enchanting Valleys to Hrubá Skála

This morning, head out along gently rolling terrain, crossing through lovely valleys with great views of the surrounding castles and countryside. Walk through a typical Czech village, then continue along the trail to an impressive medieval castle.

Your hotel is in a former chateau and has an excellent view.

Hrubá Skála to Malá Skála

Rise in your fancy chateau and prepare for today’s walk, which starts out along hilly terrain flanked by 97 million year old rock formations. Ruins and old buildings pass as you approach your hotel, which has an unbeatable view of the Jizera River and the surrounding valley. Continue past your hotel to a wooden farmstead near an ancient castle, then loop back and find a good spot for dinner.

Exploring Around Malá Skála

Loop around Malá Skála, beginning with an easy climb that evens out to follow a river. The unique rocky landscape is perfect to linger around and explore, so take your time. Once you’re done, loop back into town and enjoy dinner at a restaurant of your choosing to celebrate your adventure.

After an epic adventure through Bohemia, it’s time to head home. If you’d rather spend a few days exploring Prague, you can book an extension.

Enchanting Prague

We just got back from the Prague, Vienna, Budapest tour. It was wonderful. We were well taken care of. Train tickets were first class, the accommodations were very good, clean and good breakfasts. Pickup and drop-off services were always on time, we never had to wait for anyone. The half day tours were outstanding. There was on small error, but it was ratified very quickly. We had a wonderful time. We got a good taste of each of the cities we visited. It was great.

Prague Tour

  • Sightseeing
Loved the weekend in Prague. My buddy and I did it in December when there was Christmas markets going on. Really cool time to be there and Prague is just a super cool, beautiful city. Guide and tours were good as was the boat cruise and then especially the beer tour they include with pilsner tasting (included). We booked the private hotel room option and it was centrally located and comfortable.

We were in Prague with all my family, so my grandchildren, children and it was fantastic time here. Our guide Jane and dasha were perfect. Great time and hope, we will return very soon.

What people love about Bohemia Tours

Value was spot on for the quality and location of hotel Lunik. The breakfast buffet was great and so was the staff who services it, we tipped them every morning as it seems most did not. The river cruise was pretty but food was just ok but it was hot and beer was reasonable. We did not go on the river cruise for the food but for the experience! Our bus and walking tour was also very informative and varied and our guide very knowledgeable and pleasant, she even extended it another hour because of all the questions she was asked. We tipped hr as well as others did not and she certainly deserved it. Having the rest of our stay in Prague to ourselves really made the trip our own and were very happy that the tour companies involved arranged transportation to the airport even after our 3 day extension to stay longer. My wife and I were very satisfied with the whole experience and would recommend it to others!
I had a great time on the tour. We visited very beautiful places and towns and got lots of information on the history and about Czech Republic today. The tour is both: exciting and relaxing. Marek is an excellent guide.

If you have seen Prague and want to know more, read on, this country has so much to offer! The beautiful scenery of gently rolling hills, dreamy and nostalgic in the mist, cheerful and vivacious in the sun, adorned with medieval castles, churches and mansions, still evokes the memories of both the proud past and the grim history. Bohemia has been the hub of the European culture for centuries – and it still shows! The routes of the tours were carefully scouted to make your trip a profound and memorable experience that you won't forget. I offer these tours to small groups only (up to 8 persons) and so the itinerary offers some flexibility for change. If you are based in Prague, there are a number of day trips available to places like medieval towns of Kutna Hora or Cesky Krumlov (both on the UNESCO World Heritage List), the Terezin Concentration Camp , several medieval castles ( Karlstein, Konopiste, Krivoklat, Valdstejn, Kost, Kokorin , among others), Karlovy Vary and other spa towns of West Bohemia, the Konepruske Jeskyne Cave Complex etc. Transportation is provided by me, but a discount is available if you wish to use your own vehicle. The Czech Republic is a relatively small country and so even the farthest corner can be reached by car in a couple of hours. This country boasts 12 sites that have made it on the UNESCO World Heritage List, Slavonice , one of the places we visit on the 'Renaissance Tour', will hopefuly join them on the list later this year.

The Renaissance Tour

The bohemian rhapsody tour, under the star of david.

Day 1 One hour drive to Kolin , a town on the banks of the Elbe River, once the second largest Jewish settlement in Bohemia. Even though its medieval center around the town square is well preserved and its 16th century synagogue was recently renovated and opened to the public, Kolin is unjustly not on the itinerary of most visitors to this country.

A short drive to Kutna Hora , a charming Gothic town. Even though there is no Jewish heritage in Kutna Hora, stopping there is definitely worth our while. Also a convenient place to have lunch before a 3hr. freeway drive to the south-east corner of the country.

Sometimes called the ”Garden of Europe”, the Lednice - Valtice area stretches between two noble residences set in beautiful parkland, dotted with manmade lakes and follies. Famous European architects worked on the huge Baroque komplex. The Lednice - Valtice area is situated in a region also known for its wine. For centuries, wine from the area has found its way onto the tables of Czech kings and Holy Roman Emperors. Overnight at the 16th.century Valtice Chateau.

2hr. scenic drive to Trebic . This town has one of the best preserved Jewish quarters in Europe: 123 residential houses, 2 synagogues and the cemetery. After lunch, 30min. drive to Telc . Spectacular setting and architecture, old Jewish cemetery on the outskirts.

Short drive to the small town of Slavonice , a true jewel of Renaissance architecture. The synagogue (no entry) and several cemeteries in the vicinity. Located approximately half way between Prague and Vienna, Slavonice once was an important stage coach stop. Until the fall of communism in 1989, the Iron Curtain (border between Czechoslovakia & Austria) was only 1 mile away and consequently the town was spared insensitive renovation that many other historical sites suffered. After the Velvet Revolution in1990, Slavonice was discovered by the Czech artists for its unique ambiance with several galleries and pottery shops. Slavonice is definitely the highlight of this tour!

Evening at leisure. Overnight at hotel Besidka, a beautiful 16 century Renaissance house renovated by a renown Czech architect. The Besidka has its own excellent restaurant.

A one hour drive brings us to Trebon , another Renaissance town surrounded by ponds from all sides. The ponds were built in the 16th cent. and have supplied the country with fresh fish ever since. The town has remarkable architecture, castle and park.

Our last stop on the way to Prague is Tabor , the 15th cent. spiritual center of the Hussite uprising, the only medieval town in the region where the Jewish population was not segregated from their Christian neighbors. Arrival in Prague at 6 p.m.
