Best driver ever

Just returned from a weekend trip to see Blackpool illuminations. We left on Friday and returned on Monday. We were taken by a lovely driver called Vic. He took our small group of 20 all unknown to each other before the trip and showed interest and concern for all of us asking about each of our experiences. He navigated road closures and traffic jams perfectly asking us to vote on our preferred routes and stop times emphasising that this was our holiday. He was knowledgeable and entertaining and like a friend at the end of the trip. Would love to go on another trip with Vic. He is an absolute credit to Cooks.

Thank you so much for such a great experience! Second year I had London Christmas light tour. Very well organised, coache always on time, even earlier this year! I am appalled at the service I

I am appalled at the service I, and my party of 9 elderly people received from cooks coaches on Saturday. I organised a trip to Winchester Christmas market for 9 of my elderly residents at a cost of £25pp. One of my residents is an amputee and only has one leg, I made sure it was ok for her to travel before I booked and cooks said it was fine. The driver was disrespectful and extremely rude to this lady and to us as a party, he said it was her fault he was late for his next pick up, as she took too long to board. he never explained where to find the Christmas market and pointed us in the wrong direction, so we never saw the market, it would be far too long to explain all the rudeness we received, but the lady with the disability was in tears after we arrived back. I telephoned the office this morning to complain and was told by mr cook that it was us that was rude and there was nothing he can do! Disgraceful! I will never book another trip with this company again!!!

bad courier expierience

My wife and myself have used Cooks Coaches numerous times for a number of trips ect. and have always been pleased with the service. However, we went on the London Christmas lights and fish and chip meal, on December 1st. The driver was very efficient and professional, a lovely drive. The courier boarded our coach at The Tower of London, told the driver that we are not going to have a comfort stop at Covent Garden as was told to us by the driver as we was going to collect the courier. we spent most of the trip on what seemed like a "History Lesson" about buildings, statues, and various landmarks. he also told everyone to make sure we all went to the loo prior to boarding the coach after having our fish and chips!......after which we was shown more history of London while he emphasised continuously how he enjoyed having Americans and students on his coaches, and we did eventually get to see some Christmas lights... He used this trip to get back into his routine after a long lay off, use it or loose it was all he kept saying. Another thing, the seats my wife an myself were allocated 3 & 4 were never intended for adults, cramped legs really uncomfortable. All in all, not a pleasant trip at all, we did the same trip a few years ago and was very happy with it. Unfortunately we will not be repeating this trip again....

I booked a DAY trip to Bruges

I booked a DAY trip to Bruges . Everything was well organised but no one explained that it would take 6 hours to get to Bruges!! That left only 3-4 hours in the city which was not nearly enough to do anything worthwhile. The coach stopped outside the city and we were told to get the no 12 bus into town...that was okay but the no 12 does not go onto town...it goes 1 stop then you have to get another bus ...they run every 20 minutes. When in the city you are clock watching all the time as you have to leave at least 30 minutes to get back to the coach to allow for bus times. I know its a long day for the drivers but even having 1 extra hour in the city would have been great. Its a lot of money to go somewhere for just 3-4 hours. Disappointing.

coach didnt turn up !

I arrived at the bus station on time, waited half an hour for my coach, I rang up only to be told the coach had allready gone, having walked up the London road if it had only been a few minutes early I would have seen it. Having travelled to Brighton numerous times before with cooks, I then asked why there was no phone call, as having been on this coach before if some-one is not at the bus stop, the driver makes a phone call, I had not received one, the cooks coach representative then told me to "bugger Off" , his exact words, I then told him what I really thought. Previously I have been on a cooks coach where the internal clock was approximately 5 minutes fast, maybe this had caused the problem, as some of the coaches are quite old. If I had realised the dishonest nature of this company I would have collected evidence, I have a state of the art phone, the time is updated by the internet, the coach was early, having had a Dad who worked for British rail all his life, I have had it drumed into me that transport that is early is far worse than transport that is late, this is unacceptable, so to sumerise my problems with cookes coaches are as follows. THE FACTS 1. The coach was not there on time. 2. The coach was more than a couple of minutes early as I would have seen it having walked up the London road from my house. 3. No courtesy call was recieved from the driver which had been standard pratice for every other single passenger for every other single journey. 4. There staff became abusive telling me to "bugger off", exact words. 5.Having relied on cooks to deliver transport, the tickets I had purchased in Brighton where now worthless 6. I am appalled and disgusted by the service I received from cookes coaches and I will be making alternative travel arrangements and look into taking legal action against this company. I have been on another trip to Brighton with cooks before and as I got off the coach, the driver said, thanks for helping him out with directions as he was very unsure. I was somewhat amused as I had not spoken to him before, but it did give the impression that he did not really know what he was doing, although he was a very pleasant elderly gentleman, it would explain why the coach was half an hour late, not on the journey outwards, but on the return trip, and as it was a coach to and from Brighton, although it had the feel of a mystery tour, how he managed that was beyound me, maybe the coaches need to instal some sat nav, surely the drivers shouldnt be asking passengers for directions !

We had the trip cruise into christmas on the 30th November our drivers name was Dan he was a very friendly experienced driver, as a retired HGV driver with 48 years driving heavy goods vehicles, i thought the way he handled the amount of traffic in the middle of London, was fantastic, i told him this, Dan is a credit to your company, and Owen the tour guide was very knowledgeable and interesting thank you

Jacksonville Jaguars 2008 Headshots

The Dallas Cowboys did not make the major coaching shake ups that some expected after the way their season ended in the Wild Card playoff round, but have seen the defensive side of the ball affected in a trickle down effect from defensive coordinator Dan Quinn leaving to be head coach of the Washington Commanders . On offense, the brain trust of Mike McCarthy as both head coach and play-caller alongside OC Brian Schottenheimer remains in place, as well as WR coach Robert Prince entering his third year with the team. We bring up Prince because he just won the NFL’s Darryl Drake Memorial award for the best coach at this position in the league last year.

The NFL awarded #Cowboys Robert Prince the Darryl Drake Memorial Wide Receiver Coach of the Year. Prince helped lead one of the best WR rooms in the league with CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, Michael Gallup, Jalen Tolbert, and Jalen Brooks. Congrats Coach! ( : @rp32 on IG) pic.twitter.com/s3Q5cAOeoQ — Brandon Loree (@Brandoniswrite) April 24, 2024

The Cowboys have a lot of needs on offense going into this week’s draft, and are hoping the coaching and scheme continuity on this side of the ball can help break in potential new starters at left tackle, center, and running back quickly. Wide receiver remains a secondary need, but is also a position on the depth chart that best shows the optimism Dallas has for young players taking the next step - a theme hit on by the front office throughout Tuesday’s pre-draft press conference . CeeDee Lamb is still the undisputed top dog in the Cowboys’ receiver room, with veteran Brandin Cooks looking to be a more consistent number two behind him, but the likes of Jalen Tolbert and Jalen Brooks, among others, gives coach Prince a lot of potential to work with.

The receiver position has been somewhat in a state of flux for the Cowboys over McCarthy’s entire tenure, which is less than ideal for a coach brought in to help QB Dak Prescott take the next step. Now in a contract year, McCarthy deserves a stable situation at WR going into the second year of calling his own plays, and has at least the makings of it along with a steady and experienced coach in that room. Prince came to the Cowboys in 2022 from the Houston Texans , making Dallas his sixth NFL stop in a journey that began with the Atlanta Falcons in 2004. Prince has also coached at the college level at Boise State and Colorado.

The Cowboys could trust Prince’s mentorship along with Lamb and Cooks to focus on other needs in the draft, or really double down on making the position group a surplus of strength by giving the best WR coach in the league another weapon like Xavier Worthy or Xavier Legette, and it won’t be long at all now until we know the direction this all-important Cowboys draft goes. For now, in an offseason where just about every aspect of the Cowboys organization from players, coaches, and team culture has been under heavy scrutiny, it is nice to see one of their position coaches recognized on this level.

MINNEAPOLIS — Chicago White Sox hitting coach Marcus Thames texted first baseman Andrew Vaughn on Wednesday morning.

“Let’s think about the positives that happened yesterday,” Thames said of the first baseman, who entered the day hitting .165. “He did hit the ball hard, so we have to keep him as positive as possible.

“He hasn’t been in a rut like this since he’s been in the big leagues. It could be tough. We have to mentally keep him positive.”

That message extends up and down the lineup for the Sox, who rank last in the majors in several team offensive categories.

Thames discussed the struggles before Wednesday’s 6-3 loss to the Minnesota Twins at Target Field.

“For me, it’s trying to make sure these guys stay positive and make sure they are doing the right work to get back on track,” Thames said.

“Because they have a track record. And you look up at the scoreboard and you have 60 (at-bats) and you see .160 and .170 (as the batting average), it stinks. But guess what? Hopefully you get 4-or-500 more (at-bats) and you can turn it around and right the ship.”

The Sox have scored 50 runs, the fewest in franchise history through 23 games and the fewest in the majors through 23 games since the Montreal Expos scored 41 in 2004.

The Sox entered Wednesday ranked last in the majors in runs, average (.192), home runs (12), on-base percentage (.266), slugging (.290) and OPS (.556).

They’ve been shut out eight times and have been limited to five hits or less 12 times.

“It hasn’t been what I expected, but I know the guys are putting in the work and trying different things,” Thames said. “(Tuesday) night we had a couple of guys cross the plate ( in the 6-5 loss ), but we just got to do it more often.”

Wednesday’s starting lineup included four players with batting averages under .200, including Vaughn and Andrew Benintendi (.163).

“Andrew (Benintendi), he’s not on time,” Thames said. “We just have to get him on time and trust the process. I just talked to Andrew about being a good hitter. I don’t want him up there thinking about power. Just doing the little things. When I’ve seen him at his best over his career, he’s just been a good hitter. I want him to get back to that and swing at his pitches.

“I just think as a whole, a lot of our guys are putting a little bit more pressure on themselves and going out of the zone. For me it goes back to the basics since you were a kid: Get a good pitch in the zone and hit it hard. Once we can simplify like that, good things will happen for us.”

Thames wants Vaughn to shrink the strike zone.

“He’s taking good pitches to hit and swinging at fringe pitches from their guys,” Thames said. “He has to get back to the point where he’s dominating Andrew’s pitches and not the opposing guys’ pitches. When you do that, you shrink the zone. We’ve got to get him back to shrinking the zone. When he’s going well, that’s what he’s doing.

“Just the at-bat last night (in the eighth inning), (runners on) first and third, gets a first-pitch fastball right where he wants it and we take it. Then we swing at two fringe sliders. We have to get him back to having that confidence and swinging at his pitches.”

Confidence is one area Thames says is working for right fielder Gavin Sheets, who is slashing .262/.378/.508 with six doubles, three home runs and 10 RBIs.

“Last year he got beat up a little bit,” Thames said. “The game hit him in between the eyes and he went home and worked his tail off. He hasn’t stopped.

“He kept his same routine he had in the offseason. He’s doing the same thing and he’s doing a pretty good job so far.”

Thames also noted that designated hitter Eloy Jiménez’s timing has improved, resulting in home runs in two of the last three games.

“When he plays baseball, he’s going to be fine,” Thames said.

Jiménez missed 12 games from April 1-14 with a left adductor strain. The Sox are currently missing center fielder Luis Robert Jr. (right hip flexor strain) and third baseman Yoán Moncada (left adductor strain) because of injury.

Thames said the hitters have to guard against trying to do too much with those two important players out of the lineup.

“The most important thing is the mindset,” Thames said. “You have a couple of guys out of the lineup and teams circle names — this guy is not going to beat me, that guy is not going to beat me.

“I want our guys to make sure who they are. Nobody can replace Luis Robert. Nobody can replace Yoán Moncada. You have to make sure you are the best of yourself.”

Love on the Spectrum US participant Dani Bowman on a date.

One of Brittany's latest TV obsessions has been Netflix's Love on the Spectrum, a reality series that follows several autistic adults as they wade through the dating pool, guided by relationship coach Jennifer Cook. Brittany sits down with Jennifer to unpack how her own experience with autism informs the advice she gives. Then, Brittany is joined by Gender Reveal podcast host Tuck Woodstock and Flyest Fables producer Morgan Givens. They discuss how the show deals with stereotypes, the problems baked into all dating shows and what it's like to watch the show as autistic viewers. Want to be featured on It's Been A Minute?
