Dave Matthews Band

Dave Matthews Band is returning this year with a new album and a full summer tour in support. The veteran, record-setting rock band announced on Tuesday (Jan. 24) that Walk Around the Moon , their 10th studio album, is set to drop May 19 via RCA Records.

Looking Ahead: A Release Calendar of Upcoming Albums in 2023

Spanning 12 original tracks, Walk Around the Moon was formed during the pandemic and “is as much a reflection on the current times as it is an urge to find common ground,” reads a statement from the band.

Trending on Billboard

Producer Rob Evans worked on “Madman’s Eyes,” which DMB road-tested at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, back in November 2021.

The fresh cut blends Middle Eastern vibes with horns and strings, and sees Matthews pose the question, “When it’s too late to untwist the knife/ How do we face hatred with the love inside us.”

Longtime collaborator John Alagia served as executive producer of Walk Around the Moon , with Evans working on most of its tracks. A limited-edition deluxe vinyl option is available exclusively at the official DMB website .

With the new collection comes a major North American jaunt. Following three dates in Mexico, DMB will kick off its U.S. run at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, Texas, on May 19. As the calendar currently stands, the trek is scheduled to wrap Sept. 3 with the last in a three-night stand at Gorge Amphitheatre, in George, Wash.

Walk Around the Moon is the follow-up to Come Tomorrow from 2018, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 , the band’s seventh consecutive leader, a hot streak that dates back to 1998’s Before These Crowded Streets. DMB is the only group to see seven straight studio albums bow at No. 1 on the U.S. tally.

Formed in Charlottesville, Va., in 1991, DMB has more than 25 million career ticket sales and upwards of 38 million combined CD and DVD sales, according to reps.

Though, despite winning the fan vote by a wide margin in 2020, DMB has yet to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Tickets for the DMB summer tour will be available to the general public beginning Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. local time.

Visit davematthewsband.com for more information, or check the DMB Warehouse Fan Association for presales.

Coinciding with the launch of their U.S. summer tour (full list of dates below), Dave Matthews Band will release Walk Around The Moon – their 10 th studio album and the follow-up to their chart-topping 2018 album, Come Tomorrow – on May 19 . Most of the album’s 12 original songs were recorded with producer Rob Evans, including the first single, “Madman’s Eyes,” which was released today. Longtime collaborator, John Alagia, served as executive producer of the album.  Walk Around The Moon took shape during the pandemic and is as much a reflection on the current times as it is an urge to find common ground.

After playing a trio of dates in Mexico, Dave Matthews Band will kick off its U.S. tour at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, TX on May 19. The headline run will include the band’s first show at the historic Forest Hills Stadium in New York on June 9 . Dave Matthews Band gave “Madman’s Eyes” its live debut at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH in November 2021. The full album track listing is below. The pre-order for the physical album, featuring a limited-edition deluxe vinyl option, is exclusively available now at DaveMatthewsBand.com .

The post Dave Matthews Band Announce New Album Walk Around the Moon, 2023 Summer Tour appeared first on Consequence .

Dave Matthews Band have announced their 10th studio album,  Walk Around the Moon . It will arrive on May 19th and be supported by an expansive 2023 US tour. As a preview, they’ve shared the first single “Madman’s Eyes.”

Longtime DMB collaborator John Alagía served as the executive producer of  Walk Around the Moon , which is “as much a reflection on the current times as it is an urge to find common ground,” according to a press release. The band recorded most of the 12-track album with producer Rob Evans, including the aforementioned “Madman’s Eyes.” Pre-orders are ongoing.

The US tour kicks off on May 19th in The Woodlands, Texas. It will include DMB’s first show at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium as well as two-night stands in Charleston, South Carolina; Chicago, Illinois; and West Palm Beach, Florida before closing out with the band’s annual three-day Labor Day weekend celebration in George, Washington. See the full itinerary below.

An online ticket pre-sale for members of the DMB Warehouse Fan Association is underway. Tickets will go on sale to the general public on February 17th at 10:00 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster . Alternatively, fans can purchase them through Stubhub .

“Madman’s Eyes” features a heavy dose of dramatic strings and horns as Matthews challenges the behavior of humanity: “We live as if our hands are tied/ Is it really so hard to do what we know is right?” Stream the new track below.

Walk Around the Moon serves as the follow-up to DMB’S 2018 album Come Tomorrow .

Dave Matthews Band 2023 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule

Dave Matthews Band 2023 Tour Announcement – US Tour Schedule

Dave Matthews Band is on a roll in 2023, announcing a spring and summer 2023 tour and brand-new album! The iconic jam band will begin on May 19th in The Woodlands, TX, and visit 30+ cities before concluding with a three-night event in George, WA, over Labor Day Weekend.

It’s been nearly five years since Dave Matthews Band came out with their last album, 2018’s Come Tomorrow , and fans were starting to ask questions. When will new music be released? What will it sound like? Are they going for more 1990s, 2000s, or 2020s vibes, or all of the above? Luckily, the wait is over, and all of these questions will be answered in May 2022 with their tenth album, Walk Around the Moon . They’ve already given fans a sneak peek with the single “Madman’s Eyes,” plus a few snippets of new songs played on the 2021 Dave Matthews Band tour, but there”s still so much more to explore. And we can’t wait to hear what the world-famous rock group has been up to over the past half-decade.

Recorded during the pandemic, these new songs are described as “as much a reflection on the current times as it is an urge to find common ground.” They feature a blend of alternative, folk, jazz, and roots rock in true Dave Matthews Band style, plus a few surprises along the way. For example, “Madman’s Eyes” opens up with Middle Eastern vibes that are later balanced out by a blend of horns, strings, and smooth vocals from Dave Matthews himself, and we’re here for it. Other already-released singles have the same unpredictable patterns (in the best way!) and a mix of new-meet-nostalgic sound from one of the best jam bands around.

The group came out of quarantine with a bang in 2021, nearly selling out their summer Dave Matthews Band tour and playing at legendary venues like Madison Square Garden. Little did we know that they were hard at work during the pandemic working on all-new music for their later performances, and the wait is finally over! They’ll be stopping in all the major cities, including George, WA, for their annual Labor Day weekend extravaganza, and let’s just say that 2023 is going to be a big year for Dave Matthews Band. Get your tickets now!

Dave Matthews Band Unveil Tour Openers: Trombone Shorty, Neko Case, Cory Wong and More

Dave Matthews Band Unveil Tour Openers: Trombone Shorty, Neko Case, Cory Wong and More

Dave Matthews Band have unveiled the special guests to be featured at three of the group’s most hotly anticipated 2024 residencies. For its upcoming series at London’s historic Royal Albert Hall, East Troy, Wisc.’s Alpine Valley Music Theatre and Quincy, Wash.’s iconic The Gorge Amphitheatre, the jam ensemble will call on a cadre of high-profile acts, including Trombone Shorty, Neko Case, Cory Wong and many more. Given Matthews’ noted policy on carefully selecting his outfit’s openers, these impressive acts are lent yet another degree of prestige.

On Tuesday, April 2, DMB set off its first European tour since 2019 with a presentation at Amsterdam’s AFAS Live, blazing through a strong start to the 19-show run. This sprint will bring the ensemble to the historic Royal Albert Hall in London on April 24 and 25; for the sold-out pair, the band has tapped rising UK-based singer-songwriter Myles Smith, who has garnered acclaim for his eclectic blend of influences, including folk, pop, Americana and Afroswing.

Following the conclusion of its Euro tour, Dave Matthews Band will dash into its stateside summer tour, plotting 35 performances from May 22 through September 29. One month into this run, the band will touch down in East Troy, Wis. for two nights at the Alpine Valley Music Theatre on June 21 and 22. On night one, Nashville, Tenn. singer-songwriter Katie Pruitt will warm the stage with her expressive and introspective Americana-tinted alt-rock. Enigmatic up-and-comer Michael Maragi will follow on night two, introducing the crowd to the witty, sharply analytical folk-rock originals that lined his debut LP American Romance in February.

At the summer’s end, the band will stage its most exciting headline shows of the year with a three-night return to The Gorge Amphitheatre in Quincy, Wash., carrying on its 28-year tradition from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1. To amplify this signature series, the Matthews has selected a diverse and impressive roster of artists. For the residency’s kick-off, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue and Say She She will take the stage, followed by Cory Wong and Blind Pilot on night two and Neko Case and Maggie Rogers for the series closer.

In a 2023 conversation with Relix , Matthews spoke on the intention that conditions his guest selections. “We did go back to two sets for a little while and that had to do with openers. I enjoy having openers, but quite often, these openers didn’t get to play for many people. Sometimes they were playing for almost no one because people would wait in the parking lot. I still enjoy bringing out bands that I love and I still do it sometimes, but I like to choose my venues, where I know they’re going to get a bigger audience.”
